In early 2020, the world as we knew it was flipped upside down. Businesses were forced to pivot in the face of the pandemic, and as a result many companies adopted a remote work culture.

A woman using presentation design trends to create a compelling presentation

Remote work changed the way organizations and teams worked — and even how companies communicated to prospective customers and acquired new business. Employees leaned into virtual designs, presentations, and events to communicate both internally and externally.

The graphic design landscape, as a result, has changed dramatically over the past year.

Now, presentations need to work harder than ever to connect, engage, and inspire audiences into action. In fact, over 35 million PowerPoint presentations  are given each day to over 500 million audiences — but 79% of those audiences  believe most presentations they see are boring.

To help you crush your next presentation deck, we've rounded up the top presentation design trends of 2021, as predicted by creative industry experts and presentation power-users.

Here, learn from three creative experts from leading companies in the tech space on the four biggest presentation design trends that will emerge in 2021.

1. There will be increased empathy found in design.

Marissa Latshaw, Founder of Latshaw Marketing , says: "Impactful, inspiring design starts with empathy.

Empathy is one of the most powerful tools in the creative toolbox. The good news is that empathy — the ability to feel, understand, and respond to the feelings of others — is innate in us all. Our job as creators is to harness this empathy for better design, marketing, and storytelling.

Empathy boosts creativity. The empathy/creativity connection is strong — as shown in many studies over the past decade. One study asked participants to create and name a potato chip  product for pregnant women. Before beginning the task, half of the participants were told to envision how the consumer would feel  while eating the snack. The other half were asked to imagine what the consumer would think . An independent jury found the product concepts of the first, feelings-focused, empathy-activated group to be more original than the control group.

Empathy is also vital for inclusivity. More than ever, we want to communicate with others in a way that is genuinely inclusive. An empathetic approach ensures we understand the goals, needs, fears, and values of all the people we wish to engage (beyond just the way they relate to our brand or product). This is a call for us all to become proactive about inclusivity, and it starts with empathy.

Empathy creates connection. From in-home fitness giant Peloton to the new voice-based, social network Clubhouse , we are constantly finding new and innovative ways to connect with one another.

Both brands demonstrate empathy as they address the palpable and growing need for connection. They re-imagined how we work out and share conversations in a more socially-connected way.

Designing anything — from a presentation to an ad campaign — is no different. Each is an opportunity to reimagine and innovate how we engage and connect with the world.

Empathy helps us to stand out by standing in another's shoes. Creating one-of-a-kind, empathy-driven experiences ultimately brings us closer together and inspires action."

2. Designers will lean into radical simplicity.

Eliot Garcia Weisberg, Creative Director at Airbnb , talks to us about all things radical simplicity.

He says, "Despite its incredible power to connect us, teleconferencing stunts audience energy and empathy. Attention — already a fleeting resource — is further divided between the screens, speakers, slides, and sounds of the virtual landscape.

The feedback loop from audience to presenter is nearly dead. The impact of environmental design is lost. In our new world, the value of a single pixel on the cluttered screens of remote audiences is immense. And the screens themselves— their quality and colors— vary wildly from member to member.

The key to designing for the 'new normal' is embracing radical simplicity. A designer must reduce a slide to its core idea, then push to simplify even further. They musk ask themselves — 'Do I really need to show this?' Then challenge themselves every time the answer is 'Yes.'

Slide counts will be drastically reduced. Superfluous icons will fade away. Bullets will become a distant memory. Subtle textures will be replaced by solid colors. We'll see a shift away from image masks and bold text over photos. Instead, we'll see full-screen photographs or simple statements that make their point obvious and drive core concepts home.

We'll spend more time on the speaker— full screen— than ever before. Their delivery, from tone to inflection, will become a design element. Rehearsals will replace design reviews.

The end result will feel much more human. And, if successful, radically simple."

3. Great design will hold the viewers' attention.

"For decades, the job of creative designers, writers, and videographers was to get attention. Cut through the noise. Deliver ads that stand out. Use creativity as a hook," Adam Morgan, Adobe's  Executive Creative Director, says about holding an audience's attention.

He adds, "But in today's ultra-connected digital world, that hammer and nail approach isn't always the answer. People choose what they want. The trend I'm seeing today is to hold attention. Less push and more pull. We have to create experiences that provide real value to an individual — not just catch their attention with shock value or clickbait.

"We have to create communities where people want to consume our brand experiences. We have to know those individuals and groups, what they care about, and provide new information wrapped in an emotional blanket. We have to stand for things they value."

Rather than a hard sell, we have to share a story that they believe in and be open and transparent with why it matters to them.

What this means for creative teams is that you can't just make it pretty or funny. You have to think deeply about what your brand means to customers and then create immersive experiences that connect. It's no longer just about the creative craft of colors and fonts and icons. It's about stories and meaning and authenticity and purpose. Don't just get attention with your work. Hold  attention. So that you can build brands that grow and last."

4. Designers should use clean, minimalistic fonts and calming colors.

Lastly, we tapped into Beautiful.ai's Creative Director Anuja Kanani's expertise to unravel one more presentation design trend for 2021.

Kanani says, "Choosing the best colors for a presentation, and good presentation fonts, are two of the most important elements of deck design. Each design decision— shapes, words, and images— affect the way your audience feels about the presentation, but colors hold the most influence.

Taking the place of bold, bright primary colors, 2021 has warranted more relaxed, muted colors following the chaos of 2020. Not only are low-saturated and pastel colors more calming, they're more organic and natural, perhaps making audiences feel more at ease and confident in the presentation in front of them.

Using a consistent, complimentary color theme strategically can help position your brand in the mind of your customers," adds Kanani. She recommends limiting your presentation to 3-4 colors in your palette, with one accent color to highlight key points and bring balance and harmony to your presentation.

3 different color options that complement each other, all pastels (light blue, peach, and dark blue)

The trend of minimalism extends to good presentation fonts, too. Seasoned presenters are opting for clean minimal fonts, such as Open Sans or Jost, and rejecting traditional fonts like Arial or Times New Roman in 2021.

Kanani adds, "Custom typography improves your brand recognition, while selecting different weights or styles can help control the narrative on each slide."

Presentation Graphics

You've probably caught onto the fact that over-complicated slides are a thing of the past. Studies show  that 35% of millennials say they will only engage with content they feel has a great story or theme, so to avoid boring them into a snooze, use visuals to control your narrative.

Presentation graphics, or rich visuals, can help you paint a picture in bite-sized chunks so that your audience can digest the information you're presenting to them.

Kanani says, "Engaging, inspiring visuals in presentations make your content compelling, eye-catching, and helps convey your story beautifully."

Choosing rich icons, diagrams or infographics, and quality photos are powerful tools to help make your presentation more memorable and impactful.

1. Big, Bold Typography

Big, Bold Typography

Nothing grabs attention like a big title with bold letters. That’s exactly what this presentation design trend is all about. To try this design trend, all you have to do is make your titles and headings look bigger on each slide and arrange the content around those big text elements.

The main goal of this approach is to quickly capture your audience’s attention with a big, splashy title. Once you have their attention, persuading them to read the rest of the content on the slide is much easier.

Remember to use a sans-serif font with a clean letter design. A slightly condensed font with all-caps letters would be the perfect choice for this.

2. Aesthetic Vibes

Aesthetic Vibes

Beautiful aesthetic slide designs have been a common choice among specific presentations. Especially when it comes to creating slideshows related to fashion, lifestyle, beauty, and luxury brands, a classy and elegant look does a perfect job of creating a charming vibe across the presentation.

Soft browns, light creamy colors, elegant botanical greens, and pastel colors are common in these aesthetic-style presentation designs. Of course, the slide layouts play an important role too. Make sure to keep a consistent and clean look across the slideshow.

3. Gradient Color Schemes

Gradient Color Schemes

Marketers and designers are slowly moving away from the usual, traditional, and boring corporate-style slide designs and adopting more colorful and vibrant color schemes when designing presentations.

It’s quite a welcome change that makes slideshows look much more attractive and stand out from the crowd. One of the most popular looks in this new trend is using gradient colors for backgrounds and shapes. They do wonders for highlighting the text elements as well as for conveying creativity, inclusivity, and overall an energetic and fun vibe.

4. Retro and Groovy

Retro and Groovy

Being able to create informative presentations combined with a sense of nostalgia and fun is the main reason why this trend has been popular over the past few months. Designers who use this trend often go for various styles of retro-themed looks. Cool 90s vibes, 80s neon color palettes, and 70s groovy psychedelic-style designs are among just a few.

A retro and groovy presentation design is not just about making slideshows look fun but they can also be a tool for storytelling and evoking emotions. This makes this an effective trend to be used in presentations related to marketing and promoting brands.

5. Asymmetrical Layouts

Asymmetrical Layouts

This design trend encourages designers to break away from the usual grid and column-based presentation slide designs and experiment with new layout styles.

Creating asymmetrical slide layouts allows you to use your creativity and imagination to create experimental content designs by placing text, images, and shapes on the slides in an unconventional way. This approach often creates more stimulating presentations and a unique experience for the audience with each slide.

6. Full-bleed Images

Full-bleed Images

Using full-bleed images that expand across the entire slide is a design strategy that allows you to create more impactful and emotional presentations that convey a strong message.

This design trend involves using large images as backgrounds to create more visual-centric slides. While it’s quite effective in photography, studio, and portfolio presentations, the key to creating a balanced slideshow is to only include a few full-bleed image slides among other normal slides.

7. Overlapping Elements

Overlapping Elements

Creating slides with overlapping elements, also known as slide layering, is an innovative trend that offers a more dynamic look for modern presentations.

It involves creating slides with objects that overlap with one another. Like text and shapes that overlap with images. Or content blocks that seem out of place. These slides look much more unique and stimulating than most other styles of presentation designs.

8. Flowing Shapes

presentation design trends 2022

One way to make your PowerPoint presentation design stand out is to use flowing shapes. Too often, templates focus on all blocks and rectangles. With a set of flowing shapes, your presentation design will have an immediate impact.

When thinking about this style use a couple of different shapes and build on them. Ovals and circles are rather nice and partial shapes that extend off the screen and provide another option for these shapes with flow and movement.

Use shapes with a bright color or consider tints with a more subtle impact.

The trick to flowing shapes is to use them in such a way that they create visual flow toward text and other important messaging elements in the design. Plan accordingly!

9. Colorful Text Blocks

presentation design trends 2022

If you are working on a presentation design and don’t have a lot of great images, colorful text blocks can be a fun way to show information without feeling too bland.

There are a couple of ways to make this presentation design trend your own:

  • Use color for text blocks that’s part of your brand palette.
  • Use colors that are unique to a specific theme or project.
  • Include limited imagery with color blocks for additional interest.
  • Make sure the color block and text element has high contrast and is easy to read.
  • Use your brand font palette for an even more custom look and feel.

10. Dark Mode

presentation design trends 2022

Dark mode isn’t just for website design. It’s one of those design trends that has crept into almost every facet of design, including presentations.

While this style looks very trendy and modern, it can present some challenges.

Reverse type can be difficult to read in some situations or lighting. Consider bumping up font sizes larger than you normally would. Don’t feel like dark has to mean black. Experiment with other dark color palettes for the base, such as purple or navy.

As long as the overall design has plenty of contrast and is readable, dark mode can be a fun and striking presentation design option.

presentation design trends 2022

If dark mode is a little too dramatic for your PowerPoint presentations, consider an all-gray aesthetic. Gray has a calming feel, is visually pleasing, and is generally easy to read.

You can pair gray with colorful images or accents or go for a full-mode look, such as the example above, with black and white images and just a small hint of color.

This design scheme is trendy and quite elegant for presentations.

12. Image Overlays

presentation design trends 2022

There are generally mixed feelings about how to use images in presentation design. Some people love full-screen large image slides, while others argue that images can get in the way of messaging.

In the middle is this trend – use images with a color overlay. This allows plenty of room for images and text elements with a softer, more subtle feel.

Image overlays can also create a nice element of design and color consistency to help carry a presentation visually from start to finish.

13. High Color

presentation design trends 2022

High-color designs have been popular for a while in other design arenas, and are bleeding over into presentation design now. This style has a very distinct feel with bold, bright, or even more pastel palettes with a lot of color.

It’s not for everyone or every type of presentation message.

But if you are looking for a lighter, more fun style, this presentation design trend can be a good place to start. Use your brand colors for maximum impact here.

14. Minimal Monotone

presentation design trends 2022

On the other end of the high-color spectrum is choosing a monotone color palette for your presentation design. Monotone does not have to mean low color, but you are working with one predominant hue.

The teal choice in the example above is elegant and modern. It has a fresh feel that works nicely with the minimal outline of the rest of the design. Minimal aesthetics with monotone color palettes are the perfect compliments.

15. Muted Images

presentation design trends 2022

If you are looking to make an impact with the presentation design and want to try something totally different, consider muting the images so that they almost fade into the background.

This design style can be a great way to use imagery so that the words on each presentation slide are the true focus. Go a step further and use interesting shapes to direct the eye through slides using this trending style.

16. Blocky Design

presentation design trends 2022

If you want to go for a modern and trendy look and love the feel of geometric shapes, consider a blocky design. Using colored blocks, squares, or rectangles, you can create interesting shapes and configurations that make your PowerPoint presentation dazzle.

This is a true high-design style that can take a lot of effort and is best for smaller slide decks. It might also be easier to design if you start with a template, such as in the example above.

The blocky design style also works well with another trend already featured here – monotone color palettes. A single-color design helps hold all the pieces together for a unified presentation design.

17. Photo Stories

presentation design trends 2022

A presentation design that uses photos to tell stories is a highly engaging and trendy way to share information. To make the most of this presentation design style, create a template with big image areas that pair with simple text elements.

Keep it interesting with photos of different shapes, sizes, and placements in the design. By pairing text elements with image shapes and sizes, you can create a lot of visual interest with a unified style that does not look repetitious.

A photo story presentation design often doesn’t need a lot of other design elements to work beautifully. All ow images to tell your story and keep other design techniques – color, typography, graphics, and icons – to a minimum.

18. Big Backgrounds

presentation design trends 2022

It’s not something we are used to seeing regularly in PowerPoint presentation design – big, bold backgrounds that carry throughout. When done well, an interesting background can make up for a lack of other visual content to help propel a presentation design.

In the example above, the background is made from a simple color palette with blurred shapes. It’s bold and interesting but doesn’t overpower the overall design. That’s the trick to using a style such as this – create interest without overwhelming it.

19. Clean and Simple

presentation design trends 2022

It seems a little weird to call this a trend because clean and simple are the most classic of design styles. But it’s trending because it always works. When in doubt, a simple design for a presentation can be just the ticket.

When creating a clean and simple design, think about developing reusable pieces that you can carry throughout the presentation, such as the shape of a photo or the color of a box. Stick to typefaces that further push this theme with a simple sans serif.

It has also brought about a change in how brands communicate with their customers to acquire the business. Companies and employees have started using presentations, events, and virtual designs to communicate externally and internally. Due to this, graphic design has undergone a huge change, and new presentation design trends are coming out every year. Now businesses need to engage, inspire, and connect with the audience continuously.

To help you with your next big presentation, we’ve listed the top presentation design trends of 2022, according to creative experts.

9 Top Presentation Design Trends of 2022

1. refined memphis design.

presentation design trends 2022

When it comes to trends in PowerPoint design , then the Memphis design of flat shapes, softer pastels, and black geometry will make a comeback. This 80s style will be back in fashion with a slight twist this year. This great design will give your presentation a contemporary and retro look. Today’s PowerPoint design trends include transforming pastel colors, wacky patterns, and bright neon colors to softer, muted shades. Simplified symbols and patterns are now the next big thing.

2. Expressive and experimental lettering styles

You will notice that presentation design trends keep on changing regularly. Another change that is making a mark is typography and lettering styles. Playful elements and typography in fresh colors are now becoming popular. This lettering style includes fancy shapes, shapeless blobs, mismatched letters, and funky strokes.

Designers are now trying to be more experimental and expressive while keeping graphic designs very functional. However, this design style also comes with the challenge of distinguishing between abstract shapes and readable letters. Though this typography style has a unique vibe, it can sometimes be a very dangerous presentation trend to follow when your audience is not into artsy experimentation.

3. Doodles for more personalization

presentation design trends 2022

Though doodles are a simple and artistic presentation format, they are also great if you want to add a more human touch to your presentation slides. In 2022, we’ll see professionalism being added to these illustrations, facilitating a better understanding for viewers.

4. Anti-design presentation graphics will gain popularity

presentation design trends 2022

Presentation design trends are fast-changing, and another popular one is the anti-design presentation graphics that are all set to create an impact. Distorted fonts, complex interfaces, geometric shapes, and disoriented layouts will be part of anti-design graphics. Although this design style reflects movement, thoughtfulness, and energy in your slides, it’s not for everyone. Use anti-design graphics if you want to make your presentations edgy and provocative. Slide design trends like these are great to grab your audience’s attention.

5. Parametric presentation design trends will rule

presentation design trends 2022

Used extensively in architectural styles and designs, parametric patterns are now going to rule the graphic presentation world. Graphic designers will use geometric designs to give their slides a new look. These smart designs add visual interest and a sense of movement to the presentation. These designs will represent your subject matter gracefully and beautifully.

6. The trendy bubble design

presentation design trends 2022

Rounded letters and graphics will also be reinvented by designers this year. Adding professionalism while also keeping the childish style intact will also be part of the presentation design trends to watch out for. Bubble designs show amiability, high spirits, and vivacity. Elongated forms and psychedelic colors are all part of the 2022 bubble design.

7. Grunge graphic design will make a huge comeback

presentation design trends 2022

The 30-year-old grunge style is making a comeback most gloriously. The less-polished design features distressed textures, fonts, hand-drawn doodles, gritty backgrounds, collages, and shadowed imagery. Combining these classic elements with the modern minimalism style, the grunge trend is all set to break the conventional graphic rules. So, instead of going in for vibrant aesthetics and flat graphics, this style comes with a lot of energy.

8. Ukiyo-e flat design

presentation design trends 2022

There are plenty of different presentation design trends making a huge difference in the graphic world. Another trend that’s drifted away from interior design to the graphic is Japandi. This design is a combination of Scandi hygge and Japanese design. This trend evolves the contemporary minimalism style and adds warmth and calm to the whole design. This style is perfect for packaging, website design, and lifestyle branding.

9. Frasurbane design to gain popularity

presentation design trends 2022

This type of style is widely used in interior design and is now finding its way into graphic design. Muted colors, majestic serifs, and carefully placed designs are part of the Frasurbane graphic trend. Though this style isn’t about minimalism, it reflects a balance between sophistication and modern style.

presentation design trends 2022

2022 will be challenging for the graphic design industry because of the problems ushered by the pandemic. Though life will be normal again, the world isn’t going to be the same. Graphic designers have realized this fact and have started exploring new ways to tackle the issue and acclimate themselves. This year we’ll see design styles from the 1960s to 1990s making a comeback; however, these designs will have a touch of class and modernization. Try out these top presentation design trends this year to make your presentations stand out.

Creative, retro designs are the new in-thing in the year 2022. Abstract patterns and asymmetrical background, radical contrast, and experimental typography are also making a mark this year.

The Memphis style is a design style known for its pastel colors, bright neon, geometric shapes, and bold patterns.

Playful elements and typography in fresh colors are now becoming popular. This lettering style includes fancy shapes, shapeless blobs, mismatched letters, and funky strokes.

Distorted fonts, complex interfaces, geometric shapes, and disoriented layouts are part of anti-design graphics.

Doodles are a simple and artistic presentation format; they are also great if you want to add a more human touch to your presentation slides.

Update March 2022: Fixed broken links and added new presentation design idea examples

PowerPoint and its alternatives are multifunctional tools that serve a wide variety of purposes for both marketers and non-marketers. The popular software for presentation design holds unlimited powers of influence, as long you know how to use it right.

Today we’ll share valuable presentation design ideas and tips, so you can make the most out of your presentation. Before moving on to the actual design process, put your ideas on paper. This will help you clear up your concept and is crucial for building a high-quality presentation. Now, let’s begin!

1. Make Sure Your Eye-Catching Visuals Don’t Steal the Spotlight

The design of a presentation is supposed to support your information in more than one way. Overlooking your presentation design means throwing away all of your efforts to prepare a presentation in the first place. No matter the topic, you need to convey value. This means you need to make your presentation eye-catchy but try not to let your visuals steal the spotlight from the information itself.

6. Leverage the Power of Whitespace

This is a blank space left between design elements in the composition. It is a great tool when you want to make a point and focus the viewer’s attention on a particular part of the design.

7. Apply the Rule of Thirds

3 stages, 3 steps, 3 points, 3 ideas… People tend to accept, understand and memorize these things better if they are narrowed down to 3. The audience simply loves this number, so all that’s left for you is to make the best out of this rule.

8. Use Minimum Text In Your Slides

A presentation design is created in order to help the presenter communicate certain information. Moreover, a presentation in front of an audience is meant to be listened to, and not read. This is why some professionals advise not to use more than 6 words per slide. Use more visual content, instead.

15. Try Bright Colors

Bright colors still rule the web in 2022, so there will be a lot of them in presentation design, as well. With these colors, it’s more than easy to catch the attention and make a statement. Presentation Design Trends in 2022

  • By: Amy Boone

You’ve got great ideas. Exciting products. A cutting edge company. A compelling story. So a tired 2010 PowerPoint slide template just won’t cut it in 2022. It’s time to update your presentation to reflect current design trends.

We’ve scoured online design sites and recent presentations to compile a list of current presentation design trends. Some of our favorite trends include creative color palettes, less-is-more design, infographics, custom fonts, and original elements. Here’s how to use these trends to freshen up your presentation design.

Creative Color Palettes

Presentations in 2022 are all about creative color palettes, particularly retro ones. Kimp design company says, “The retro color tones work well in graphic design because they act as standalone design pieces.” One of the more popular retro color palettes gives a nod to mid-century design by featuring muted and earthy rusts, mustards, and greens. And the 80’s are also making a comeback with everything from bold neon to Memphis design elements (think shapes and squiggles). Presentation slide decks in 2022 aren’t afraid to put a new spin on retro color palettes. For example, check out the TED poster for their April conference.

Less-Is-More Design

Presentation designs in 2022 are bold and simple. It’s not about adding more design elements, it’s about making the ones that you use pop. The more you have on your slides, the more everything gets diluted. So slide decks of 2022 keep the focus strong and simple. In other words, slide clutter is out. Remember that the main job of your slide deck is to do what words can’t. In other words, save the words for your talk, and save the slides for everything else. That means you should avoid slides that are all words and instead use a few simple, powerful graphics to back up what you are saying.

Infographics

Granted, infographics have been a design trend for some time now, but they continue to be important elements in slide decks in 2022. Infographics blend words and visuals in a pleasing and easy-to-understand layout. For example, Canva (one of our favorite free design tools) offers infographic templates to help get you started. Check out this one on charity action. The great thing about infographics is that they have layers of information which allow your audience members more individualized interaction with your content. You can get everything you need to know in a quick glance, allowing you to shift your attention quickly back to the presentation. Or, if it’s something that really interests you or something that you don’t quite understand, you can “dive in” further and explore the infographic in more detail.

Custom Fonts

When designing your presentations, don’t skip past font choice. Modern presentations are serious about choosing a font that helps add to the overall tone of the presentation and content. Forget Arial, Times New Roman, and even Calibri. Modern presentation designers know that fonts communicate, too. So what you use matters. Designers often use the mantra “purpose is paramount.” Meaning you have to keep in mind how your audience will be using the text. When choosing a font, ask yourself:

  • How large will the screen be?
  • What other elements will be on the slide?
  • How much text will my audience be reading?
  • How long will this slide be on the screen?
  • What tone do I want my font to set?

Once you’ve answered these questions, choose a font that is attractive, legible, and interesting without being boring. And don’t be afraid to play around with line spacing, letter spacing, and kerning to help give your font choice some distinction. For some more creative ideas on font selection, check out DesignShack’s list of 2022 font trends .

Original Elements

With the increase in free design and online drawing programs, we are seeing more hand drawn and original design elements in slide decks. Artists like Morgan Harper Nichols have gained incredible popularity in large part due to the ease of creating art with technology and sharing it quickly through social media. Another one of my favorite creatives is Austin Kleon , who describes himself as a writer who draws. His incredible presentations often include hand drawn elements like the one below.

presentation design trends 2022

So instead of trying to find the perfect graphic (or font), consider creating one yourself. You might find that your hand drawn element gives your presentation a unique appeal and charm that is right on trend.

Embracing Design Trends

Outdated presentation designs aren’t doing you any favors. If your slide deck looks outdated, you risk the audience thinking your ideas are outdated, too. But when you update your presentation design to reflect some or all of the trends listed above, you can build energy around your presentation and ideas.

Need help creating a fresh, new presentation or updating a current one to reflect modern design trends? We’ve got you.

2022 New Year Presentation Design Style: Minimalism, Claymorphism, Brutalism and the Future of NFT, VR, and Metaverse

Table of Contents

2022 new year’s presentation design style is an exciting year for presentation specialists, designers, educators, and many more — the introduction of Metaverse compelled quite a disruption in the creative industry. Many assumptions from this 2022 presentation design trends have become more than just a trend — and many of them evolved into something completely new.

Let’s see what this new year will bring to a designers’ table with our 2022 new year presentation design style suitable with PowerPoint, Keynote, and Google Slides.

Brutalist Theme: Urban Style Presentation Template

One of the trends from this new year is on the rise. Brutalism appears to be a counter-trend for all the presentation designs full of gradients, shades, and beaming 3d characters.

Brutalism embraces futuristic design, strong outlines, contrasting colors, bold typography, and natural/life photography. It utilizes all other characteristics but works to a more standard layout, often seen in other presentation design styles. Yet, this new iteration of Brutalism refrains one of its significant clarifying aspects— the absent grid.

This year, one of the most recent examples of brutalism presentation templates is Urban Style. This style is hard to forget, so you should grab this 2022 new year presentation design style right here.

You can download Urban Style PowerPoint Template right here .

Minimalism and Simplification: Membrane Presentation Template

Take a look at the most notorious presentation design style, leading tech enterprises, and you can spot a robust selection of simple, informative, minimalist interfaces. Year by year, this trend is getting bigger and bigger. More brands are starting to use it. We introduce you to one of the tech-minimalist items, Membrane.

Neo-Futuristic Obsession: Cybertron Presentation Template

Neo-futurism is also a movement in this 2022 new year presentation design style characterized by shapes and structures made potential by new technology. In some cases, a new design process drives the design aesthetic. Often, computerized components are spotlighted instead of hidden.

It is mainly an architectural trend but is also a part of the design, fashion, and fine arts.

An easy way to visualize this is to think about how 3D printers can create volumes that were impossible to make until now. And certainly would have been structurally unsound.

It responds to post-modernism, which used many metaphors and whimsy to create forms. It tends to be honest and straightforward in its use of materials and form language, but not as simple as mid-century Bauhaus or modernism.

This Cybertron Presentation Template will be the best futuristic product design you have ever seen in this new year.

You can download Cybertron PowerPoint Template right here .

Aurora Backgrounds: Brisk Presentation Template

You likely recall this trend from the previous year – it became trendy and even got a proper name in one of our items, Brisk Presentation Template.

It’s more visually attractive. Nuanced, multicolored, blurred splashes of color look very satisfying, warm, and organic. Those splashes can be used as a whole background or just a power under some essential UI elements.

You can download the Brisk PowerPoint Template right here .

Holographic/Neon: Behold Presentation Template

This cyber holo/neon style appears to work well into the era of Metaverse, VR, and hologram interfaces. Presentation designers are inspired by all the new opportunities that the virtual worlds have to show. Vibrant, glowing colors, abstract, round shapes, and hologram-looking textures are typical of this 2022 trend.

We present Behold Presentation Template to you with a Holographic theme. It is a way to show how holographic slides play their role in futuristic interfaces.

You can download Behold PowerPoint Template right here .

Eco-Conscious “Cardboard” Style: Embrace Presentation Template

As consumers, we are getting more and more environmentally aware every year. Most of us are glad to choose eco-friendly resolutions on an everyday basis. It looks like you can combine that “eco” look and feel into useful digital products, like this Embrace Presentation Template.

W are seeing more and more brands keeping up with this 2022 new year presentation style that reminds me of “paperboard and splash” — backgrounds are usually greyish to reach reusable cardboard. Typography is just tiny in manner. But, the contrast is high. Colors are pretty rigorous and seem “darkened.” There are no cute 3D objects this time — this style embraces real-life photography, real-life textures, and doodles.

You can download Embrace PowerPoint Template right here .

Wild Typography: Flax Presentation Template

Typography dominance was far more rigid ten years ago. Right now, it seems that you can do whatever you want with your presentation slides and some pictures in there. Mix fonts with shapes, photos, and emojis, put a texture on it, choose a font that is very sophisticated in its form — and experiment with the grid as you like. It’s entirely up to you and your creativity.

It can result in a fascinating, eye-catching effect, but it can also be wholly unreadable and irritating. We would still recommend keeping the user’s comfort in mind and the first place when designing a perfect PowerPoint template.

NFTs and Art Democratization: NFT & Pop Agency 2022 New Year Presentation Design

You may understand it, but NFTs are assumably the biggest internet craze this new year.

NFTs have given almost everyone a new possibility of earning money – if you can create something visual online in this new year, you can sell it as a piece of the perfect template. “Democratization of art” means that, honestly, everyone can sell their live product demo copyright online and that almost everything can be identified as art (from pixel kangaroos to 3D avatars). This also means that you could hypothetically sell your new year’s eve PowerPoint templates . And more popular templates.

You can download NFT Point PowerPoint Template right here .

We can see the art nuance spread along with the slide by looking at both presentations. Of course, this 2022 new year presentation design style is created to mesmerize the audience, too, instead of adapting the NFT trend.

A Glimpse into VR and Metaverse: Virtual Space 2022 New Year Presentation Design

Virtual reality has moved from plump, discomfiting, and more into the mainstream with the new devices from Meta and a wide range of apps coming to the platform.

While the idea for the Metaverse itself is a more romantic, Web3 based concept, in reality, it will likely be the big players who will control that entire cake through more Web 2 style means.

The Apple Glasses are still unannounced, but it seems like a style for VR and AR has emerged, with gesture-based window control, eye-tracking, and holographic, 3d shapes.

Latest PowerPoint Presentation Trends 2022: Minimal presentation design

Design is such a personal choice that what looks good to one person might not appeal to the other. But still, there are certain design technicalities and sensibilities that make one kind of design better and superior to the other. For the longest time, it has been a popular notion that a bright, flamboyant, and over-the-top design is what provides a lasting impact. But things have changed quite drastically over the years, and when it comes to PowerPoint Presentation designing, the minimalistic approach has been finding more and more takers globally. While minimalistic presentation design ruled a large part of 2020 as well as 2021, it is going to be one of the most popular Powerpoint Presentation Trends in 2022 as well. A design that highlights the core message without compromising on the aesthetic value is what some of the biggest global giants are following these days, and they have all the good reasons to do so.

In this article, we will tell you why minimalistic presentation design is the best thing for your PowerPoint Presentations.

You can download the free templates here:  Free Slides

What is minimalistic design?

Minimalistic design is all about going back to the basics and shedding the extras. It is a design philosophy that concentrates on highlighting the core message without adding any distractions to the slides. Less is more is the perfect adage that fits this philosophy and it has captured the attention of the world with its ability to be visually pleasing and still convey the message loud and clear.

So, instead of using bright, bold colors and different shapes in one slide, the minimalistic design will only have a couple of elements that truly embody the idea and makes the audience watch in rapt attention. Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai , who is known for his amazing design sensibility, has been a pioneer of using minimalistic design for his PowerPoint Presentations. His slides are a perfect combination of the right amount of text and design elements that make each and every slide interesting, and engaging while conveying the right message.

What does minimalistic design consist of?

Minimalistic designs use flat designs, limited color schemes, optimized negative space, fewer UI elements, and dramatic typography in such perfect harmony that all these elements come together to make a perfect unison. These elements are carefully chosen to create a lasting impact so that there is no diversion from what the presenter wants to convey. Dramatic designs can have that effect with their over-the-top use of colors and additional design elements.

The best PowerPoint Presentations are the ones that use minimum colors and other design elements but are put together in such a way that they make all the slides look like a part of a big whole scheme of things. This allows the audience to create a connection between slides without losing focus from the main message.

Why minimalistic will continue to be a popular Powerpoint Presentation Trends in 2022?

The world of design has evolved drastically over the years. And it is slowly, but quite steadily moving towards minimalism. The reason is simple. Minimalistic designs provide a more concentrated focus on the main idea and remove all kinds of irregularities and diversions. By using minimum colors, optimizing the white space, limited text, and impactful visuals, minimalistic designs make it possible for the presenter to emphasize the core idea. The entire exercise of creating a PowerPoint Presentation and showing it to the business partners will fall flat if the main idea is not conveyed the way it is supposed to be. This is where minimalistic designs win over other, more jarring designs.

For the longest time, it had been believed that minimum meant lazy designing, but creating minimalistic presentations require even more hard work and thoughtful implementation. It requires the creator and the presenter to be absolutely precise with each and every element as there are fewer of them. but if a minimalistic presentation is designed well, it can project a highly proficient, effective, and engaging message that will be remembered by your audience for a long time, which is the ultimate goal of making a presentation.

With a PowerPoint presentation , you have the power to guide your audience’s attention and take them in the direction you want them to go. This is only possible if your slides are engaging and interesting, and convey the message the audience is looking for. Every presentation has a purpose, and that purpose should be solved at the end of it. Jarring and over-the-top designs can confuse the viewer and divert their attention from the core idea. This is why minimalistic designs have gained such immense popularity and they will continue to rule in 2022 as well.

Creating engaging, precise, and impactful designs using the minimalistic approach is not an easy task to conquer. It requires years of training, a correct understanding of the subject and the audience, and a design sensibility that makes things look beautiful, even when they are at the minimum. And only professional PowerPoint design providers like Visual Spiders can provide such impactful designs. If you wish to impress your audience and deliver a powerful presentation, let the professionals do it for you.

5 presentation design trends to jump on for 2022.

Presentation design trends can be incorporated into your slide deck in a number of ways. Even if they don’t fit your brand identity, subtle suggestions of a trend can show your audience you have your finger on the pulse. Let people know you’re an innovative, forward-thinking brand by blending 2022 graphic design trends into your presentation.

When we think of trends, most of us think of the fashion industry. Staying at the forefront of emerging styles is just part of the fabric of this fast-moving, competitive market. However, in graphic design, as in fashion, being on trend is everything. Graphic designers that stay up to date have a significant advantage. By offering clients innovative ideas, they can make sure they stand out. And by constantly updating their design repertoire and melding evolving trends with their own person style, great graphic designers guarantee their own continuing relevance.

At Buffalo 7, we are always refreshing our sources of inspiration. We push ourselves to leave our comfort zones. And we consume as much external graphic design as we can fit in our eye holes. Our clients need to stand out in order to leave a lasting impression. By integrating graphic design trends with their brand styles, we ensure their presentations,  webinars, and screen shares  blow the competition out of the water.

In this article, we’re going to take a look at 5 trends that look set to be huge in 2022, as identified by  Shutterstock . And we’ll provide some ideas as to how these can be translated into presentation design trends for your next big pitch.

Design trends

  • The One design style

Presentation design trend one: Movement

Motion and animation have become such important elements of the online experience that anything less is effectively a missed opportunity. Shutterstock

When it comes to digital design, motion helps to stop the user’s endless scroll. It grabs their attention within that short millisecond window, and encourages engagement. But presentations don’t tend to have the same level of competition. Or do they?

Of course, there’s not usually a constant rotation of presentations vying for their attention. However, your audience will have a continuous influx of distractions that could pull them away from your key message. In a traditional presentation setting, your slides need to be more interesting than looking at their phones, or the thoughts racing around their heads.

And, in our remote world, the pressure is even higher. You’re competing with their to-do list, chores, and email notifications. You’re up against screaming babies, and streaming services. So many things tempting them to click the x in the corner of your webinar and do something else.

How does animation help?

Your story and your design both play a part in making sure your presentation wins this battle for attention. But well-thought-out motion can be an instant win. Animation flips the mind into entertainment-mode so, naturally, attention and retention increase. This is well-known in the UX world, but not so much in the world of presentations. Which now means you have the edge.

Adding animation to your presentations is great place to start dipping your toe into trends. No matter your brand identity, you can incorporate movement into your presentations to great effect. Shutterstock’s advice to ‘build a language of movement’ should extend to your presentations, increasing consistency across every communication. Basically, expect to see this presentation design trend sticking around as it doesn’t just look good, but serves a vital purpose as well.

Add purpose to your presentation animation

For animation to do its job, it has to be functional and nice to look at. It should be so smooth that the stream of information to your audience is uninterrupted. The best functional animations are often the ones the viewer barely notices. They just accept them as fact because they feel natural and central to the design.

In the UX world, designers have to justify why they are animating. Asking what the purpose of the animation is, or what you want a movement to achieve, will help you maximise engagement.

Here are some reasons you may need to animate an object:

why animate in presentations

Our top tips for getting presentation movement right

Animate with a clear hierarchy and mindful timing.

Continuous momentum helps guide the audience’s attention where it’s needed most. A good sequence helps users understand what has changed on a screen, drawing focus to the most important messages. Highest priority elements should animate first, followed by lower priority elements.

Elements should move decisively, efficiently, and with purpose

Align to the grid. Snap into place. Use momentum to instigate crisp transitions. While no single detail will be immediately noticeable, this precision and attention to detail is palpable and felt, when applied holistically. A clear intent and precise movements communicate purpose, feel reliable, and add a sense of validity to the design.

Avoid pointless motion

Not everything on your slide needs to be animated. Referring back to that purpose should help you work out what to move, and what needs to stay put.

Make broad, consistent choices

Consistent animations reward the viewer’s expectations and avoid misinterpretation. They also help demonstrate the role and function of abstract elements.

Consistency also defines a baseline of behaviour against which abrupt changes and influences become more noticeable. Setting expectations and, in some cases, breaking them is a great way to add personality and intrigue to your slides.

Presentation design trend two: More is more

Messier, more chaotic, more saturated design will undoubtedly take on new bravado in 2022, as the younger generation looks to rework the world in its image. Shutterstock

We’re currently watching a slow, and not entirely smooth, passing of the influential baton. Gen Z is making its case to take the reins. And the design world has already, happily, fallen in line.

But what does Gen Z design look like? Centre partings and mom fit jeans?

Yes. Well, that and a heck of a lot more. In 2022, be prepared to say goodbye to organisation and hello to – what looks like – chaos.

Minimalism is out. Monochrome chic will be a distant memory. And we’ll all be looking at a lot more jarring compositions, neon colours, and a more-is-more approach to aesthetics.

This can be a tricky trend to get right. When it comes to translating this idea into a presentation design trend, we’d advise erring on the side of caution. As a presenter, you want to be able to direct the audience’s focus through design. Your top priority should be making sure your messaging isn’t getting lost in your slide design. Which becomes a lot harder when your slide design looks like a teenager’s bedroom. Getting this trend right is more about creating the illusion of excess, while still controlling audience focus.

Contrasting busy elements with white space

You can create a happy balance of trendy and functional by focusing all your carefully-chosen chaotic elements in one area of your slide. This will leave a good amount of blank space and avoid audience overload. This balancing act between negative space and content will create contrast, and leave you, as designer, in control of your audience’s focus.

Create emphasis through motion

As well as disruption in patterns and contrasting colours, the human eye prioritises movement. Just think about the last time you were outside at night. With everything plunged into darkness, it’s hard to know where to look. However, when something moves in your peripherals, your eye darts instinctively in that direction.

You can apply this same idea to your Gen Z-inspired excessive slide design. Of course, with PowerPoint you have the luxury of  animation , as discussed above, but you can achieve motion in other ways. For example, the eye will naturally scan in the direction you read, unless there is a powerful pull in the other direction. You can create this pull by adding directional cues, like an arrow or sharp, pointed object. Alternatively, try using photography where the subject is looking in a certain direction, and your audience will naturally follow their eyeline. Then, simply, put your key messages in this space.

Presentation design trend three: Natural beauty

Expect to see a focus on biodegradability, non-permanent inks and finishes, and a shift from self-indulgence, selfies, and perfectly preened design, to a more community-based approach to visuals, aesthetics, and motifs. Shutterstock

Environmental concerns are on everyone’s minds, and the design world is trending to mirror this. In stark contrast to the Gen Z trend, many influential designers will be looking to reduce their impact on the planet. While much of the focus is on physical print design, it’s not the whole story. Digital designers are decreasing digital effort and, therefore, carbon load. This means you can still do your part, if presentations are more prominent than print in your world.

Planet-friendly presentations

First and foremost, consider if you even need slides at all. Gasp. I know. A presentation design agency suggesting slides might be surplus? The world is more turned around than we thought.

Yes, we’re damn good at creating slides, but it’s not our raison d’être. Our purpose on this – hopefully still green – earth is to harness the chaotic energy of a raw idea and transform how the world experiences it. Not a single mention of PowerPoint, presentations, or slide decks in that.

The truth is, not every presentation, or presenter, needs slides. Think about how complicated your story is. How comfortable you are presenting. And who’s going to be in your audience. If you can still tell a compelling story, you can ditch the digital accompaniment altogether.

If you can’t, keep them minimal instead. Minimal slide count. Minimal design elements. Minimal animation. This will reduce how much energy your machine needs to use, both during the build process and each subsequent outing.

Or, if that doesn’t fit with your brand identity, could you offset the damage in another way? Plant a tree for every presentation? Look to reduce your operational impact elsewhere? Obviously, you’re doing this for the good of the planet, but you may also find you increase brand loyalty and find new ways to connect with your audience – values to values.

Presentation design trend four: 90s vibes

Driven by the aesthetic preferences of Gen Z, ’90s tropes are back with a bang, and will undoubtedly define how this new interest in typography develops. Shutterstock

Every year we see new typography trends coming through because it’s such a vast and ever-evolving area of design. But this year, it’s both evolving and devolving at the same time. We’re taking it back to the nineties.

Nostalgia design uses the familiarity of the old to sell the innovation of the new. This trend can be used as a powerful psychological tool. Give your older audience members those warm, fuzzy, comforting feelings associated with their glory days. And the younger people in your audience will love the ‘retro’ feel. They probably don’t even know what tamagotchis are, or what makes a prince so fresh. Your slides might be about to blow their minds.

90s typography

Type is going to play a big part in this trend. Shutterstock predicts the rise of both custom fonts and serif typefaces.

Serifs are the small features found at the end of strokes in some font families. You know, the fonts with the extra little fancy bits.

This isn’t just a decorative flourish. Serifs are used to guide the horizontal flow of the eye across the page. When used for slide body copy, serifs increase the contrast and spacing between letters, improving identification, increasing legibility, and reducing eye fatigue. Serifs can also represent a subtle and sophisticated side of your brand personality.

Some of our favourite serifs to add to your presentations include:

  • Baskerville
  • Bookman old style
  • Playfair Display
  • Josefin slab

Some tips for working with serifs

Be careful not to take your font size too small. Those little lines can merge together, becoming impossible to read. Consider using a sans serif font for body copy, as it’s often easier to read at smaller sizes, but use a serif to bring out your key messages, or for titles and key statements.

Can I go custom?

When considering paying out for a custom font that is unmistakably yours, make sure to include presentations in the discussion.

For many years, we’d advise clients against using custom fonts in their PowerPoints. Historically it meant pre-installing that font on every machine the presentation was to be viewed, presented, or edited on. What a faff. But now, many fonts can be embedded into the slides. This means they stay put, no matter where your presentation finds itself. However, it’s not every font. So, it’s always good to do a dry run before making the commitment.

Presentation design trend five: The One design style

Expect a fairly obvious slant towards cyberpunk motifs and styles, as brands hope to leverage the goodwill created in and around the release of [ The Matrix ] film. Shutterstock

In 2021, Facebook announced the metaverse and some big plans to turn the internet into a fully-immersive experience. Then The Matrix Resurrections inspired a new generation with its unique style. The next logical step is cyberpunk inspiration creeping its way into your presentations, right?

Well, no. Unless you fancy a complete rebrand that’s unlikely to stand the test of time. Or you already happen to have this very specific design style at the heart of your visual identity. But, if you think outside the box, you can still jump on this particular bandwagon.

Immersive presentation experiences

immersive presentation experiences

At Buffalo 7, we turn ordinary presentations into inspiring, engaging experiences, every day. And a big part of that is thinking of different ways to immerse audiences into our clients’ messages. To make them not just hear it and see it, but feel it as well. If you can combine storytelling, design, and motion to drop your audience into your story, give them the reins to explore your narrative, and let them find their own way to your solution, you’ll find your win rate increases exponentially .

There are simple tricks to doing this. You could turn your content into a game. Try breaking your monologue up with regular elements of interactivity. Or create such an intuitive menu system that anywhere your audience wants the conversation to go, you and your slides can easily follow. But the real impact comes from assessing each audience and each presentation purpose individually, and designing the experience around this discovery. And if you want to talk more about that, please do get in touch .

A final word of caution

Brand consistency should always come before anything else. If these trends don’t work with your brand identity, don’t try to crowbar them in just for a few minutes of looking cool.

However, you can still show your potential clients that you’re a forward-thinking brand with your finger on the pulse by working with the experts to incorporate a presentation design trend or two. The talented  presentation designers at Buffalo 7  love to stay ahead of emerging trends, revelling in the challenge of creating the perfect balance between established client branding and exciting new design developments. Whatever the next big trend, our ultimate goal is always to create engaging, inspiring presentations that position our clients as innovators in their field.

The biggest trends in graphic design for presentations in 2022/2023

The biggest trends in graphic design for presentations in 2022/2023

Presentation trends are movements in the slide design that have been used extensively. They are not necessarily new, but they are recognized now, inspired from, and recommended for you to remain recognized as well. When you follow trends in presentation design, you impress your clients, remain competitive, or even set your trends for the next year.

We’ve done some research, and here are 6 presentation design trends for 2022/2023.

Monochromatic Design

Pure color or one color in different shades is what people prefer in slides now. They are tired of headlines where each letter stands for another color. The simpler, the better is the new black. Additionally, simpler color in the whole design branding is important for brand recognition and its ability to influence the industry.

Everyone knows the shade of Coca-Cola’s red or white and gray Apple combination. Thus, we will see more companies using average colors and subtle tonal differences to look modern.

Important: Do not misplace 3D Realism with the 3D illustration.

Now, tech companies are celebrating this trend most because it recalls the development of augmented and virtual reality. Thus, they are first to do any desirable form of 3D within their branding or web design to give a sense of depth. The design will change forever over the next few years, and hyper-realistic works will be an assertive part of it.

If tech development relates to your business, you should order a presentation with 3D elements to visualize the story and show the company’s level with references to slide trends 2022.

Serif Typefaces

Typical Times New Roman or Georgia has long been abandoned because people preferred funky Serifs. But old school is coming back with the 2022 presentation trends of simplicity. People are moving away from standard Sans Serif fonts (Arial, Calibri, Helvetica). And it also means we will see more creative versions of Serif.

Check this guide on How to select and use fonts in PowerPoint.

Nevertheless, Sans Serif may still be used for specific functional things in videos or as a part of your brand. For example, Facebook’s rebranding into Meta is made with the most inoffensive, while the futuristic logo and Sans Serif font.

Kinetic Typography

This trend belongs to animations, added to presentations by most creators. Such artworks, like gifs, frequently display turbulent words. You should have seen many typography effects in lyric videos, which we definitely recommend to inspire from for your modern slides.

This year, typography is becoming more than a trend because it allows people to read along with creative expression. Thus, you can transform simple headings on slides into ones with moving letters, which keeps engagement higher. Or you can create a data visualization presentation by moving texts and numbers.

Hyper MNMLSM

Disclaimer: Minimalism will not work for every presentation or brand, and the individual approach should always be embedded. Minimalism is not the be-all or fix-all of every design problem, so implement it wisely.

Some of you in or out of the design industry may hate minimalistic or simplified logos. Even though it feels corporate, the more simplistic logo, the less offensive and easier it is to remember. These are the facts and PowerPoint presentation trends nowadays. Whether you like it or not:)

And this movement will not stop because it is just ramping up its momentum. Burger King, Pringles, or Mozilla Firefox, to name a few. Hyper candy colors, 3D realism, heavy fonts, and other characteristics you can notice that brands use to hold power in the “excessive” world.

Anti-Design

And the last trend shows that all fundamentals and rules are breakable in this industry, and you can set the trend by following no trends. Thus, anti-design is a rebellion against all rules in design, which finds its fans, followers, and propagators.

Anti-design is the repetitive use of elements in design that have warped and stretched to be expressively against the idea of design fundamentals.

Sometimes, design stops being designed in its works and becomes artistic in its form. Even though anti-design might not be functional, it will suit your PowerPoint or Google slides design for futuristic and creative agencies that cherish everything extraordinary and out-of-frame.

Trends are not critical to follow, but they are always good to know to be educated on to see what clients may potentially expect. Besides, paying attention to trends gives you a look into how the creative space is developing in the world of technology. If you follow presentation design trends year by year, you can even start predicting trends for the next few years.

11 Best Presentation Design Trends for 2022

presentation design

You’ve got excellent ideas and many exciting products, and you have an interesting story to tell, but you don’t want to be a company that is held back by old design trends, do you?

There are many design trends, some of which involve infographics, custom fonts, color palettes, and much more. Of course, each company has its own way of designing its presentations, but let’s take a minute to identify and decide which design trends are the right ones for your presentation.

11 Presentation Design Trends in 2022

Let’s not wait any further and identify the top 11 presentation design trends you should follow up on within 2022.

1. Dark Mode

dark mode trend

The dark mode isn’t only a trend for site designs; It’s an exciting design trend to include in presentations. Even though this design looks modern and trendy, it can also present many issues for a business presentation.

Moreover, the reverse type might be pretty challenging to read sometimes, so you can consider increasing the font size and making it larger than it should be. Additionally, dark doesn’t always mean black, so you must experiment with many other dark color palettes.

Above all, as far as your overall design has plenty of contrast, dark mode is an excellent striking design option.

2. Memphis Design

presentation design trends 2022

Memphis design is one of the most interesting old-school designs from the 1980s. Even nowadays, it’s a unique style that pairs shapes and chaotic patterns altogether. Memphis design promotes a colorful view and is more approachable and adventurous than ever.

It’s not a surprise why many presentation designers want to turn to Memphis design and show a colorful personality to their visitors, so they don’t forget.

3. Movement

movement design features

So, do you ever think about what movement is? Whenever it comes to presentation designs, one thing will stop endless scrolling, and that is motion. Motion will grab user’s attention for a short mill- second and encourage a higher level of engagement, but presentations won’t always have the same level of competition.

Above all, your presentations will have continuous distractions that could distract users from getting the direct message. Regardless, your presentation needs to be far more enjoyable whenever you present than users looking at their phones or wandering around in their heads.

Additionally, the pressure to keep people interested is even more difficult online. You’re trying to gain attention from users and are going against either having them listen to you, stay on their phone and chat with their friends and family, or even see what is up on social media!

In short, why would we consider animations important? Well, your design and story play a significant role in your presentation. Animation brings a whole new level of entertainment to your table and disregarding your brand identity; you can blend it well into your presentation with some interesting effects.

Animations will stick around for some time, but something you shouldn’t forget is that you should be consistent in it if you choose to use them from the beginning. For example, You can use this collection of designs to make your business presentation as easy and beautiful as possible

4. Color Palettes

2022 has brought a new trend to the presentation world: a series of colorful palettes. Color palettes bring a different blend of retro colors and mid-century design by mixing other colors. For instance, orange is proven to bring an appetite and promote energy to viewers, so it’s a perfect choice for presentations to get a positive vibe while listening to it.

Additionally, we have other colors like purple, blue, and mint green that are fresh and have a cleaner and oceanic mood. Thus, looking at these colors will ensure that your text remains legible and crisp.

If dark mode is too much for you, you can consider using an all-gray approach for your presentation. Gray gives a calm feeling, is pleasing to the eye, and is easy to read. Moreover, you can blend your images with gray easily. The black and white images are just a minor hint, and when going with gray, it’ll make the complete design for your presentation.

6. Typography

There’s no wrong or right way to carry out typography. You can find big and bold fonts everywhere you look; let’s be honest, they all look good. Overall, typography has always been a design trend, and if you think about it, it won’t ever go out of trend until the world exists.

Typography doesn’t only include text but also animations and many other flex options. In addition, typography doesn’t have any limits, so designers can play around with the designs and make their own styles.

Presentation templates can use multiple effects on the homepage; this way, it’ll mix and match characters with the headline, images, and backgrounds.

7. More Isn’t Less

Now, what do we mean by this? Generation Z has taken a step up its game and has many different approaches from its predecessors. Nevertheless, let’s not forget that their attention span is four seconds less than their predecessors.

In other words, minimalism isn’t the trend anymore, so it’s time to focus on aesthetics much more. So, it’s best to avoid including too many words in your slide and focus more on including simple and powerful images that deliver a more powerful image for you.

8. Image Overlays

overlay designs

There are many mixed feelings about using images within a presentation design. For example, some people prefer full-screen image slides and think images aren’t as important as texts.

To not overlap, you can consider using images with color overlay. Furthermore, this allows for text elements and images to have a much better feel. Image overlays can create a much better piece of design and consistency in color, carrying a presentation from the beginning until the end.

9. Minimalism

A minimal presentation design is always a unique piece of design that is still circulating until this day. Why so? It’s because a minimal presentation design will always be in fashion since it clearly and concisely shows you the information you need to know. Furthermore, because we want our audience to feel affected at all times, we want to see a minimalist style. In short, less is always more.

One popular minimalist style is Neomorphism, which is a minimalist approach that gives almost all design elements a 3D real-life look and feel . Moreover, this is one of the primary reasons it’s popular amongst developers, making it a trendy style in the presentation design world.

10. Natural Beauty

natural beauty

Many people are concerned about the environment, and the design world is considering this. Overall, many influential designers will try to reduce their negative impact on the planet, especially with Generation Z. While many people focus on print design, this isn’t the entire story to it. Overall, digital designers are trying to reduce the amount of carbon load, so it means you can still do your part in the print world.

Overall, your best bet is to keep slides at a minimum and include the minor design elements and animation as possible. Why so? If you aim to promote a greener future by using less energy from your computer and machine, and if your audience is concerned about the environment too, this may be a chance for you to connect with your audience at a deeper level.

11. Infographics

Infographics have been trending in the design world for quite some time. Moreover, they are important design trends that remain important even in 2022. Infographics blend words and visuals into one that creates an easy-to-understand layout.

Infographics include important information in the image you have on your presentation. They may be facts, statistics, or other information about your audience. Thus, facts are enjoyable to listen to, so they will significantly impact your audience.

Wrapping it All Up

That’s about it for this article. These are the 11 best presentation design trends we recommend to you. After all, the end result of which one you choose to use will highly be based on your personal preferences and what you see is fit. 5 Presentation Trends We're Seeing in 2022

presentation design trends 2022

If you're like most business professionals, you're always looking for ways to improve your presentation skills. In order to stay ahead of the curve, it's important to know what presentation trends have emerged in 2022.

In this blog, we’ll discuss 5 presentation trends that we’re seeing in the year 2022. We'll also provide tips on how you can embrace these trends and improve your presentations either on your own or by utilizing the skills of a presentation expert.

Unique Color Palettes

In 2022, we’re seeing a trend towards unique and eye-catching color palettes. Businesses may be employing the help of a presentation expert, or using presentation design techniques to make a statement and stand out from the competition. When choosing colors for your presentation, consider using a palette that is unexpected yet cohesive. You can also use color to convey mood or emotion in your presentation.

For example, if you want to create a feeling of excitement or high-energy, you might use brighter colors like orange or yellow. If you want to convey a more calming or relaxed feeling, you might use cooler colors like blue or green.

Less-Is-More Design

Another presentation trend that we’re seeing in 2022 is less-is-more design. This means that presentations are becoming more minimalistic in nature. Businesses are using fewer words and more visuals to communicate their message. When designing your presentation, consider using clean lines, simple shapes, and muted colors. You should also focus on delivering your message in a concise and clear manner.

Infographics

As presentation experts would suggest, using infographics is a great way to make complex data more digestible for your audience. This year we’re seeing an increase in the use of infographics in presentations. When used correctly, infographics can help you simplify topics with a lot of information, and make your presentation more visually appealing. If you're not sure how to create an infographic, there are many online tools that can help you get started.

Custom Fonts

An additional trend we’re seeing in presentation design is the use of custom fonts. Businesses are using unique and interesting fonts to add personality to their presentations. If you want to use a custom font in your presentation, make sure that it’s easy to read and appropriate for the topic at hand.

Original Elements
