The superhit Telugu director S.V. Krishna Reddy has again wielded the megaphone for the film Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu after a 9-year-long gap. Starring BiggBoss Sohel and Mrinalini Ravi in the lead roles, the film hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Vijay (Sohel), a failed film director starts selling Kondapalli toys made by his sculptor parents to make a living. He meets Haasini (Mrinalini Ravi) in a five-star hotel and soon both fall for each other. During this, a producer named Munikonda (Sunil) approaches Vijay and offers him a film chance. While all is going well, Venkatramana (Rajendra Prasad), the doting father of Haasini learns about his daughter’s love affair. Venkatramana obstructs Haasini’s relationship citing the poor economical status of Vijay’s family. What happened next? Was Vijay successful with his new film? How did he win over Venkatramana? The main film has the answers.

Plus Points:

Bigg Boss fame Sohel has an impressive screen presence and the actor did a very good job in the film. Sohel as a failed director and as an honest person did his part nicely. His dances, fights, fun, and heroic scenes are sure to entertain his fans.

Mrinalini Ravi, who made her Telugu debut with Gadhhalakonda Ganesh, is very expressive as Haasini. The actress looks quite gorgeous and shared a neat chemistry with the protagonist. It’s good to see Sunil in an innocent and fun-driven role. Sunil’s body language and mannerisms are nicely used by the director.

The first half of the film is passable with okayish comedy. Rajendra Prasad has done yet another important role and the veteran actor is at his usual best. The songs are nicely picturized. The film is clean without any vulgarity. Varun Sandesh’s cameo is alright.

Minus Points:

The entire track in the second hour involving Sohel, Mrinalini, Ajay Ghosh, and Praveen is completely boring and the comedy here fails to bring any laughs. Rather it tests the patience of the viewers and it lasts very long. This particular track doesn’t have any connection with the main plot and it is followed by a song making things worse.

Just like the dialogue mouthed by a key character in the film, there is nothing novel about Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu. Everything looks routine and outdated. The film has the 90s vibes and the makers stuck to a template-based narrative. A fight gets followed by a song, which again is followed by a comedy scene. There is also a lot of redundancy in the film. The way Rajendra Prasad’s character exhibits his frustration is repeatedly shown bringing boredom.

The climax portions look forced and the emotions don’t look convincing. Lately, public response videos for films have become popular on social media. The makers tried to make use of it but these portions too look insipid. The climax is also dragged heavily as the film goes on and on. The second half went haywire completely and the length is one more drawback for this comedy family entertainer.

Technical Aspects:

The music is provided by S.V. Krishna Reddy himself, the craft at which the director excels. While there is a bit of retro touch in the music it still is pleasant to hear. The cinematography by Ram Prasad is superior as the frames look rich and colorful. The editing is poor as the movie is needlessly stretched. The production values are good.

Coming to the writer-director S.V. Krishna Reddy, he tried to repeat his previous magic with Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu. The comedy works only in a few places. But this part has been overdone heavily which in one way became a big disadvantage for the movie. Gone are the days when people used to like separate comedy tracks in movies. Hence a few films over the years have bitten the dust as they relied completely on these comedy tracks. The same is the problem with Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu. The second half is just a combination of some random scenes without any proper flow. The old-school narration no longer can attract the millennials.

On the whole Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu is an outdated family entertainer that lacks any novelty. Sohel looks good and does his part well. But the movie’s story and narrative are ages old which can’t engage the audience. You can skip this film this weekend.

SV Krishna Reddy, one of the leading directors of the 1990s, has a distinct style. But he has been out of form and action for quite some time. He made a comeback with "Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu" after a lengthy absence.

Let us see if he succeeds in this new inning.

Story: Vijay (Sohel) is an aspiring filmmaker who has had little success. He falls in love with Haasini (Mirinalini Ravi), a wealthy girl. Her father Venkataramana (Rajendra Prasad) is not only rich, but he also prefers to live his life according to traditional values. 

When he learns of his daughter's love affair with Vijay, he is outraged. Why does he have such strong objections to their relationship, and how exactly would this Hybrid alludu manage to win over the organic mama's heart?

Artistes’ Performances: Sohel has tried his hand at many different stunts typical of commercial heroes, but he simply doesn't have what it takes. As a hero, he fares averagely. Mirnalini Ravi plays a standard type of heroine. 

Rajendra Prasad reprises Prakash Raj's "Race Gurram" role as Organic mama. Despite the cliché nature of his character, Rajendra Prasad gives it some respect.

The comedians have made zero impression. The humour has worn thin. Sunil, however provides, some fun. Varun Sandesh in his brief role is okay.

Technical Excellence: In addition to directing, SV Krishna Reddy also wrote the script and composed the musical score. The dialogue is reasonably well done, but the songs don't hold up.

"Allasani Vaari Allika'' is the only tuneful track. It's also clumsy when it comes to editing. The film's production values are high (which seems to have been largely shot in Ramoji Film city).

Analysis This "Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu" provided SV Krishna Reddy, the director of such blockbusters as "Yamaleela" and "Subhalagnam," with the ideal platform from which to reach today's younger moviegoers.

He cast Sohel, a star of the reality show "Bigg Boss," as the film's protagonist and Mrinalini, of "Gaddlakonda Ganesh" fame, as the film's heroine. The movie features an impressive cast, and its title is hip as well.

However, what matters is the narration and presentation. Unfortunately, SV Krishna Reddy has not kept up with the times, and the narration is decidedly out of style.

First and foremost, the plotline is clichéd. Krishna Reddy has made an effort to split the story's comedic and dramatic elements into two distinct tracks. The combination is a disaster. There is no freshness in the film at any point. The stale comedy sequences continue for long stretches of the film.

The jokes are amusing at first, but they become irritating after a while. The Ajay Ghosh subplot is the most tedious aspect of the whole show.

The formula of one scene, a song, a comedy bit, a romantic segment, and a song has become obsolete. So neither the scenes nor the presentation are organic.

Though a bit farcical, the climax is somewhat better. But, when the entire piece is dull, what difference does a single sequence providing solace make?

Overall, "Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu" not only lacks freshness, but it also makes the viewer impatient while watching the proceedings. It's a test of our patience.

Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu Movie Review: This romantic drama is outdated and insipid

In one of the early scenes of Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu (OMHA), we see Mirnalini Ravi's character fall in love with Vijay (Sohel) at the first sight, with no foreshadowing or underlying emotion to explain why. We see her gaze on this man while he is conning a group of white tourists into buying his family's handicraft Kondapalli dolls. A couple of minutes later, a set of goons catcall her and her friends, only to be saved by the hero. We immediately cut to a song set in Ramoji Film City, and lo and behold, these two people are in love forever.

Overall, OMHA stands as an outcome of an uninventive plotline and prosaic narrative. For the most part, the film stands on a redundant-retro story from the canon of masala movies. A rich girl falls in love with a poor boy. The rich girl's dad does not approve of the alliance and then... You guessed it right. The poor boy proves himself, and subsequently, the rich girl's dad stands corrected. Then, the rich girl and poor boy have a happily-ever-after story. However, one unpredictability is the sheer lack of conflict throughout the film, despite the multiple opportunities presented by its skeletal storyline. For instance, there is a series of events in the second half of OMHA where the hero and his friends elaborately lure an evil real estate builder into buying government land. And in the climax, the builder is invited to the wedding of the central characters. And exactly, when you expect a showdown or a climactic punch, you receive hardly any payoffs. OMHA’s laggard pacing is much like that of a TV soap, which works against the film leading to a patience-testing experience.  The film continues its siege of incessant boredom when, in addition to the substandard screenplay, you have to endure the lengthy dialogues, weary expositions, jejune platitudes and not-so-funny humour. And when all fails, OMHA resorts to loud, suggestive music to sledgehammer the story into its audience. Hollywood-based actor-showrunner Mindy Kaling once wrote in her memoir Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me, "I simply regard romantic comedies as a subgenre of sci-fi, in which the world created therein has different rules than my regular human world." And I would be inclined to extend that otherworldly analogy to Masala cinema as well. Verisimilitude, in this part of the world, is not synonymous with successful cinema. That said, there is a marked difference between employing suspension of disbelief for a well-packaged script with strong mythological underpinnings and being asked to do the same for a film that has conflated a series of narrative lacunae for a screenplay. And, in the case of OMHA , it could have found even the slightest of redemption if only it had an innovative and engaging screenplay and technical finesse... if only.

Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu review: SV Krishna Reddy’s mark is missing

Senior director SV Krishna Reddy, known for dishing out wholesome family entertainers, came up with Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu after a gap of about eight years.

While Big Boss winner Syed Sohel and Mrinalini are the lead actors, Rajendra Prasad and Meena played key roles in the film.

Let’s check if SV Krishna Reddy succeeded in retaining his magic with this long-awaited film:

Venkataramana (Rajendra Prasad) owns hundreds of acres of land. He is a man of principles and grows organic vegetables and produces.

On the other hand, Vijay (Sohel) delivers two flop movies as a director and is a failure. His parents make a living by selling Kondapalli toys.

Haasini (Mrinalini) is the doting daughter of Venkataramana. He wants to marry her off to a successful guy. But, much to his chagrin, Haasini falls in love with Vijay. What ensues next is the crux of this family entertainer.

Fails to meet the expectations

SV Krishna Reddy is known for making sensible movies loaded with entertainment like Shubhalagnam , Yamaleela , Aahwanam , and Mayalodu , among others. He won a special place in the hearts of the Telugu audience because of his commendable work.

Combining a good message with humour is his forte. But the essence of SV Krishna Reddy goes missing in Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu .

The comedy entertainer neither has a heart-touching point nor entertainment. As a result, it fails to live up to the expectations of the audience.

The story is quite routine, the twists are predictable and the climax is drab. The only good thing about the movie is that it is made for the family audience with absolutely no obscenity or objectionable dialogue.

The performances

Sohel is improving as a performer; he gets a meaty role in the movie. Though he is fine as Vijay, the poor script lets him down.

Senior actor Rajendra Prasad can singlehandedly steer a movie towards success. But SV Krishna Reddy fails to make the most of his acting skills.

Mrinalini Ravi is decent. Senior actress Meena appears as Rajendraprasad’s wife and is good.

Ajay Ghosh, Sunil, Sapthagiri, Varun Sandesh, and Prithvi are passable as supporting actors.

The technical crafts

As for all his films, SV Krishna Reddy composed the music for Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu , too. Barring one song, all the others are forgettable. The background score is passable.

The cinematography by Ram Prasad is good. Editor Pravin Pudi should have trimmed the movie by at least half an hour.

Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu created a buzz as it marks the comeback film of director SV Krishna Reddy.

Given the funny title, it was expected that the film would be a hilarious entertainer like the filmmaker’s previous works. But it disappoints!

“Organic Mama Hybrid Alludu” is a romantic drama film in the Indian Telugu language released in 2023. Directed by S. V. Krishna Reddy, the film features Rajendra Prasad, Meena, Syed Sohel Ryan, and Mrinalini Ravi in leading roles.

Vijay (Sohel), an unsuccessful film director, turns to selling Kondapalli toys made by his sculptor parents to support himself. He meets Haasini (Mrinalini Ravi) in a five-star hotel, and they quickly develop feelings for each other. Meanwhile, a producer named Munikonda (Sunil) offers Vijay a chance to direct a film. As things seem to be looking up, Haasini’s father, Venkatramana (Rajendra Prasad), discovers their relationship. Concerned about Vijay’s family’s financial situation, Venkatramana opposes their relationship.
