About the authors
Dorothy e. zemach.
Dorothy Zemach is an author, editor, teacher, and teacher trainer in the field of English Language Teaching (ELT). She taught English, French, and Japanese for over 20 years in Asia, Africa, and the US and holds an MA in TESL from the School for International Training in Vermont.
Now she concentrates on writing and editing English language teaching materials and textbooks and conducting teacher training workshops. Her areas of specialty and interest include teaching writing, teaching reading, business English, academic English, testing, and humor. She is a frequent plenary speaker at international conferences and active on social media.
Daniel Broudy
Broudy works in Japan, studying the socio-cultural significance of signs, symbols and images as representations of power and as tools of mass persuasion. As a Gen-X'er, he also nurses a fascination with imagist poetry and language play as scaffolding techniques for language development. Among the puzzling questions he investigates are, in what novel ways across cultures do humans use signs and symbols to express thought, conceal, and deceive?
Customer reviews
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

About this book
Publishing your research in an international journal is key to your success in academia. This guide is based on a study of over 1000 manuscripts and reviewers' reports revealing why papers written by non-native researchers are often rejected due to problems with English usage and poor structure and content.
With easy-to-follow rules and tips, and examples taken from published and unpublished papers, you will learn how to:
- prepare and structure a manuscript
- increase readability and reduce the number of mistakes you make in English by writing concisely, with no redundancy and no ambiguity
- write a title and an abstract that will attract attention and be read
- decide what to include in the various parts of the paper (Introduction, Methodology, Discussion etc)
- highlight your claims and contribution
- avoid plagiarism
- discuss the limitations of your research
- choose the correct tenses and style
- satisfy the requirements of editors and reviewers
This edition has two completely new chapters covering machine translation and using AI tools (e.g. chatbots, paraphrasers, editing tools) to improve and correct the English of a text.

Organisation of Book: The book is organized into two parts. Part one starts with thinking critically about research, explains what is (and isn’t) research, explains how to properly use research in your writing to make your points, introduces a series of writing exercises designed to help students to think about and write effective research papers. Instead of explaining how to write a single “research paper,” The Process of Research Writing part of the book breaks down the research process into many smaller and easier-to manage parts like what is a research paper, starting steps for writing research papers, writing conceptual understanding and review of literature, referencing including various styles of referencing, writing research methodology and results including interpretations, writing implications and limitations of research and what goes into conclusions. Part two contains sample research articles to demonstrate the application of techniques and methods of writing good resear...

INTRODUCTION A research paper is a part of academic writing where there is a gathering of information from different sources. It is multistep process. Selection of title is the most important part of research writing. The title which is interesting should be chosen for the research purpose. All the related information is gathered and the title for research is synthesized. After thorough understanding and developing the title, the preliminary outline is made which maintains the logical path for its exploration. After preliminary research, proper research work is started with collection of previous resources which is then organized and important points are noted. Then research paper is written by referring to outlines, notes, articles, journals and books. The research paper should be well structured containing core parts like introduction, material and methods, results and disscussion and important additional parts like title, abstract, references.

Cognizance Journal Multidisciplinary Studies
Pitfalls in research paper writing is a very important subject matter in academia, especially in research in arts and social sciences, but there is a dearth of literature focusing exclusively on the issue of pitfalls in scholarly research. Thus, the objective of this descriptive study is to examine the major pitfalls in research paper writing and how to avoid them. The study elucidates several pitfalls in the writing of a research paper, a Master's or Ph.D thesis/dissertation, that is, the inadequacies observed in the following components of a typical research work: research title, abstract, introduction, literature review, methodology, data presentation and discussion. Others are incomplete and improper referencing as well as inadequate use of language and conclusion. The paper also highlights some research tips to avoid the pitfalls and enhance research originality, capacity and acceptability at the local and international levels of readership. Based on the above, the study encourages postgraduate students and young researchers to adhere strictly to the rules of approved referencing styles such as the American Psychological Association (APA) and Modern Language Association (MLA), while observing also the editorial guidelines of reputable scholarly journals, research institutions or research grant donor agencies.

Available for the first time with Macmillans breakthrough course solution, Achieve, and priced far below comparable guides, Reading and Writing about Literature: A Portable Guide is an ideal supplement for writing courses where literature collections and individual literary works that lack writing instruction are assigned. This brief guide introduces strategies for reading literature, explains the writing process and common writing assignments for literature courses, provides instruction in writing about fiction, poetry, and drama, and includes coverage of writing a research paper as well as sections on literary criticism and theory. The fifth edition features expanded coverage of essential topics such as thesis and developing an argument, as well as two new student essays on new literary selections. Achieve for Gardner Literature: A Portable Anthology features an e-book with the same reading and writing coverage that appears in Reading and Writing about Literature plus a full anthology of nearly 250 literary selections, close reading modules, writing assignments, videos, and comprehension quizzes.
New to This Edition
“ Reading and Writing About Literature gives a good introduction to the process of analytical reading and writing as well as practical information about polishing and formatting an essay. It usefully shows students how to ask good analytical questions, how to develop an argument, and how to go about revising their work from the global level down to the proofreading level.” — Paul Huebener, Athabasca University “ Reading and Writing about Literature is a highly accessible primer on how to write critically about literature.” — Heath Diehl, Bowling Green State University

The introduction of AlphaFold 2 1 has spurred a revolution in modelling the structure of proteins and their interactions, enabling a huge range of applications in protein modelling and design 2–6 . In this paper, we describe our AlphaFold 3 model with a substantially updated diffusion-based architecture, which is capable of joint structure prediction of complexes including proteins, nucleic acids, small molecules, ions, and modified residues. The new AlphaFold model demonstrates significantly improved accuracy over many previous specialised tools: far greater accuracy on protein-ligand interactions than state of the art docking tools, much higher accuracy on protein-nucleic acid interactions than nucleic-acid-specific predictors, and significantly higher antibody-antigen prediction accuracy than AlphaFold-Multimer v2.3 7,8 . Together these results show that high accuracy modelling across biomolecular space is possible within a single unified deep learning framework.
