World Book and Copyright Day is a unique celebration for everyone who loves to read. It’s a special day when the world honors the magic of books and respects the rights of authors.

On April 23 every year, you’ll see people sharing stories and promoting the joy of reading. It’s a day when the world becomes a giant book club, all thanks to UNESCO.

1-minute Speech on World Book and Copyright Day

Greetings to all!

Today, we gather to celebrate an extraordinary day, the World Book and Copyright Day. This day is all about appreciating the magic of books and respecting the rights of those who create them.

Books are like secret doors. Open one, and you’re in a new world. They make us laugh, cry, dream, and learn. In the pages of a book, you can be a brave knight, a clever detective, or even an astronaut exploring the stars! They are our best friends, always ready to tell us a new story, teach us a new thing, or take us on a new adventure.

But, do you know, these wonderful books don’t just appear out of nowhere. They are the result of hard work and creativity by many people. Authors think and write, illustrators draw, and publishers print. They put their heart and soul into creating these books. That’s where copyright comes in. Copyright is like a magic shield. It protects the works of these creators. It makes sure that the people who make books are respected and rewarded for their work.

World Book and Copyright Day is a special day. It reminds us to honor the amazing world of books and the people who create them. Let’s promise today to always respect the rights of creators. Let’s keep the magic of books alive for the future.

Thank you, everyone, for being here today. Let’s celebrate this day by reading a new book, appreciating an author, or even writing a story of our own. Remember, every book is a new adventure waiting to happen. Happy World Book and Copyright Day!

2-minute Speech on World Book and Copyright Day

Ladies and Gentlemen,

World Book and Copyright Day is a special day for all of us. On this day, we celebrate the magic of books and the rights of those who create them. It’s like a big party for books, writers, illustrators, and everyone who loves reading!

Books are like magic carpets. They take us to different worlds, introduce us to new friends, and teach us amazing things. With a book, we can become a brave knight, a daring explorer, or even a wizard! Books give wings to our imagination and make our minds stronger. Just like how we need food for our bodies, our minds need books to grow.

But have you ever thought about who makes these amazing books? Behind every book, there is a writer who spends days, months, or even years creating these stories. There are illustrators who draw beautiful pictures to make the stories come alive. These people are like chefs who cook up delicious meals for our minds.

That’s where copyright comes in. Copyright is a rule that helps protect the hard work of these creators. Just like how it’s not fair to take someone’s lunch without asking, it’s not fair to use someone’s book or pictures without permission. Copyright makes sure that the people who create books get credit for their work. On World Book and Copyright Day, we celebrate this important rule too.

This day also reminds us about the power of sharing stories. Can you imagine a world where only a few people could read books? How sad would that be! That’s why on this day, we also talk about making books available to everyone, everywhere. Whether you live in a big city or a small village, whether you are rich or poor, everyone should have the chance to discover the joy of reading.

So, let’s celebrate this wonderful day! Let’s pick up a book, let’s dream, let’s learn, and let’s grow. And while we enjoy our books, let’s also remember to respect the hard work of those who create them. Let’s share our books, our stories, and our love for reading. Because books are not just pieces of paper, they are windows to endless worlds.

Thank you for being part of this special day. Happy World Book and Copyright Day!

World Book and Copyright Day

23 April 2012

Find the world’s wealth and wisdom through books

To promote books, reading, and the stimulation of creativity through copyright – this is why we celebrate World Book and Copyright Day today and every year on 23 April. In her video message, IFLA President Ingrid Parent addressed the importance of books as irreplaceable sources of knowledge, ideas and innovation. "In books we find the wealth and wisdom of the world", Parent said. Parent also remembered all people who cannot read, "be it through illiteracy, through censorship or through language barriers. When people have no access to books and information, they are excluded from the world’s wealth and wisdom."

Being the primary cultural and scientific institutions for providing information as a public good, libraries play a crucial role to build bridges to books and information by helping people to learn new skills, to discover history and culture or to access remote research findings.

IFLA and its members in more than 150 countries worldwide believe that people, communities and organisations need universal and equitable access to information, ideas and works of imagination for their social, educational, cultural, democratic and economic well-being.

23 April is a symbolic date for world literature, since 23 April 1616 was the date of death of Miguel de Cervantes and William Shakespeare. Initiated in 1995 by UNESCO, this date pays a worldwide tribute to books and their authors, and encourages everyone to discover the pleasure of reading and to gain a renewed respect for the extraordinary contributions of those who have furthered the social and cultural progress of humanity.

The year 2012 also marks the 80th anniversary of the Index Translationum . This international bibliography of translation provides a unique tool for the monitoring of translation flows in the world. Originally created in 1932, it is the oldest program of UNESCO.

The important benefits of reading cannot be underestimated and this day is a reminder for everyone to take up books. Organised as an annual event by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) ever since 1995, the day is dedicated to pay respect to renowned authors like William Shakespeare, Miguel Cervantes, and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega who died this day.

Long Speech on World Book and Copyright Day

Distinguished guests, ladies, and gentlemen, it is my honor to speak to you on this auspicious occasion of World Book and Copyright Day.

As we celebrate this day, we acknowledge the critical role played by books in our lives. Books are not just sources of entertainment, but also powerful tools for education, personal growth, and cultural preservation. They allow us to learn, explore new ideas, and broaden our horizons.

Moreover, books have a unique power to inspire us, spark our imaginations, and transport us to different worlds. They offer us the opportunity to see the world through someone else’s eyes, understand different cultures and experiences, and learn from the wisdom of the past.

On this World Book and Copyright Day, we also recognize the importance of copyright laws in protecting the intellectual property rights of authors, publishers, and other creative professionals. Copyright laws ensure that creators can earn a living from their work and have the resources to continue producing quality content for us to enjoy.

The value of copyright laws cannot be overstated. Without copyright protection, creators would have little incentive to produce original works, and the quality of content would suffer. Piracy and other forms of copyright infringement can also harm the livelihoods of creative professionals and undermine the integrity of the creative process.

As we commemorate this day, we must reconfirm our commitment to enforcing copyright laws and defending creative professions’ intellectual property rights. Local bookstores and libraries, which play an important role in promoting reading, literacy, and education, must also be supported.

Finally, let us pause to recognise the importance of books and reading, and to reassert our commitment to defending the intellectual property rights of creative workers. Let us all enjoy the magic of books and reading on World Book and Copyright Day, and continue to encourage a culture of learning and innovation.

On World Book and Copyright Day, UN official urges debate on publising trends

A young boy reading a copy book in Qazin, Iran

The head of the United Nations agency tasked with preserving the world's cultural heritage today called for debate on the changing trends in book publishing and copyrights, saying new technologies are transforming the industry and having an impact on publishers, authors and readers.

“Change is giving rise also to sharp new debates – about the strengths and weaknesses of different kinds of products, about the nature of copyright today, about the role of libraries relative to online knowledge, about the meaning of 'authorship' in a world of blogs and wikis,” said Irina Bokova, the Director-General of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ( UNESCO ) in a message to mark the World Book and Copyright Day.

She highlighted UNESCO's responsibility to explore all the repercussions of the change, while preserving the values and forms of expression that the world shares and cherishes.

“Our role is to provide a platform for debate and to act as a knowledge-broker to explore old and new ideas,” Ms. Bokova said.

She said UNESCO will hold the second UNESCO World Forum on Culture and the Cultural Industries in June in Monza, Italy. The forum's theme will be “The Book Tomorrow the Future of the Written Word.”

Stressing that books are the best voices of tolerance and pillars of free and open societies, Ms. Bokova, called for their protection and for efforts to make them available to the 800 million adults who still do not have reading skills. “We must explore all aspects of the changes they [books] are undergoing today,” she added.

USAID Celebrates World Book and Copyright Day

For Immediate Release

Office of Press Relations [email protected]

Press Release

Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is pleased to recognize World Book and Copyright Day. Celebrated each year on April 23, the day pays tribute to books, authors, and the joy of reading.

Books are essential tools for literacy instruction. In addition to supporting reading skills, books help reinforce curriculum, inspire children’s imagination, and even challenge stereotypes. Children with access to books at home have larger vocabularies, stronger math skills, and are exposed to new worlds. Unfortunately, high quality reading materials are not always adequately available in schools or at home, particularly over the past year due to school closures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

USAID education programs make strategic investments to ensure that all children and youth — especially those in crisis and conflict — learn to read. In response to school closures and to mitigate learning loss, USAID is serving the hardest-to-reach learners with a variety of distance learning strategies during education disruptions. In 2020, USAID supported distance learning programming over a variety of platforms including radio, television, internet, and home learning kits. Both before and during the pandemic, USAID has worked with partners around the world to support increased access to high quality reading materials. For example, USAID is a partner in the Global Book Alliance, which brings together donor agencies, multilateral institutions, and civil society organizations that are committed to bringing books to every child in the world by 2030.

USAID celebrates the global efforts to support children and youth’s access to high quality reading materials in the languages they use and understand. Continued work is necessary to ensure that these materials are available to all children and youth everywhere.

World Book and Copyright Day – April 23, 2025

World Book and Copyright Day, otherwise known as World Book Day, is celebrated every year on April 23. The events done to honor the day are organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading, publishing, and copyright. The holiday was originally invented by Vicente Clavel Andres to honor Miguel de Cervantes, a notable Spanish author.

History of World Book and Copyright Day

Although World Book and Copyright Day was officially inaugurated in 1995, its conception is traceable to Spanish writer, Vicente Clavel Andres, who conceived the idea in 1922. He developed the holiday to pay tribute to the notable author, Miguel de Cervantes. Because Cervantes was born on October 7, World Book Day was celebrated for the first time on October 7, 1926.

However, in 1930, King Alfonso XIII of Spain changed the date to April 23, which is Cervantes’ death date. In Catalonia, Spain, the holiday enjoyed great popularity — especially because April 23 is also the feast day of Saint Jordi or ‘Diada de Sant Jordi,’ the patron saint of Catalonia. On Saint Jordi’s day, gifts are given, and ever since the Barcelona Book Fair of 1931, typical gifts include books and roses. Coincidentally, April 23 also marks the death anniversary of authors William Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. These factors played a major role in UNESCO selecting April 23 to celebrate its own World Book and Copyright Day in 1995.

The purpose of the holiday is to encourage and promote reading and publishing, as well as advance the protection of intellectual property through copyright. According to UNESCO’s website — “It is a time to celebrate the importance of reading, foster children’s growth as readers, and promote a lifelong love of literature and integration into the world of work. Through reading and the celebration of World Book and Copyright Day, 23 April, we can open ourselves to others despite the distance, and we can travel thanks to the imagination.’

World Book and Copyright Day 2024

April 23 marks the anniversary of the birth or death of a range of well-known writers, including Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Maurice Druon, Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, Haldor Kiljan Laxness, Manuel Mejía Vallejo, Vladimir Nabokov, Josep Pla and William Shakespeare. For this reason, UNESCO's General Conference chose this date to pay tribute to books, the authors who wrote them, and the copyright laws that protect them.

What Do People Do?

A range of activities to promote reading and the cultural aspects of books are held all over the world. Many of these emphasize international cooperation or friendships between countries. Events include: relay readings of books and plays; the distribution of bookmarks; the announcement of the winners of literary competitions; and actions to promote the understanding of laws on copyright and the protection of authors' intellectual property.

In some years, the Children's and Young People's Literature in the Service of Tolerance is awarded. This is a prize for novels, collections of short stories or picture books that promote tolerance, peace, mutual understanding and respect for other peoples and cultures. There are two categories: one for books aimed at children aged up to 12 years; and one for those aimed at young people aged 13 to 18 years.

Purpose of the day

World Book and Copyright Day is an occasion to pay a worldwide tribute to books and authors and to encourage people to discover the pleasure of reading. It is hoped that this will lead to the renewed respect for those who have made irreplaceable contributions to social and cultural progress. In some years, the UNESCO Prize for Children's and Young People's Literature in the Service of Tolerance is awarded. It is also hoped that World Book and Copyright Day will increase people's understanding of and adherence to copyright laws and other measures to protect intellectual copyright.

The year 1995 was named the United Nations Year for Tolerance and UNESCO's General Conference, held in Paris, concentrated on this theme. The delegates voted to establish an annual occasion to carry the message of tolerance into the future, in the form of a day to celebrate books, authors and the laws that protect them. The date was chosen because April 23 marks the anniversary of the birth or death of a range of internationally renowned writers and because of the Catalan traditions surrounding this day. In Catalonia, a region of Spain, April 23 is known as La Diada de Sant Jordi (St George's Day) and it is traditional for sweethearts to exchange books and roses. World Book and Copyright Day has been held annually since 1995.

Each year a poster is designed and distributed around the world. It features images designed to encourage people, particularly children, to read books and appreciate literature. There is also a logo for World Book and Copyright Day. It features a circle, representing the world, and two books, one of which is open.

World Book and Copyright Day 2021 - Writers celebrate with UNESCO

speech on world book and copyright day

Every 23 April, World Book and Copyright Day is celebrated to promote the enjoyment of books and reading. Proclaimed by UNESCO's General Conference in 1995, this symbolic date of world literature coincides with the death of writers William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. This day pays tribute to books and authors and promotes access to reading for as many people as possible. Transcending physical boundaries, the book represents one of the most beautiful inventions for sharing ideas and embodies an effective tool for fighting poverty and building sustainable peace.

This year UNESCO will disseminate quotes, poems and messages to symbolise the power of books and encourage reading. By sharing knowledge, reading and books, we build community and can connect readers around the world, helping to alleviate loneliness. Some well-known authors of Hispanic literature have also wanted to join this year's celebration by reading excerpts from their books.

We invite students, teachers, readers around the world, as well as the entire book industry and library services to bear witness and express their love for reading with others through the hashtag #WorldBookDay.

Further information in Spanish:

"El poder de los libros es lo que necesitamos en un momento como este, ya que nos recuerda la importancia fundamental de la literatura —y de todas las demás artes—en nuestras vidas."

Mensaje de la Directora General de la UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, con motivo de este día.

Following that, in the year of 1995, at the General Conference in Paris, the decision was made to designate April 23 rd as World Book and Copyright Day. The reason for this is the historical significance of April 23 rd , which marks the birth and death of various notable authors from throughout the world.

On April 23 rd , for example, William Shakespeare, Cervantes, Josep Pla, and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega died, and Manuel Mejia Vallejo, Shakespeare, Haldor K Laxness, and Maurice Druon were born. There is a historical comment that must be made regarding the death dates of Shakespeare and Cervantes. Despite the fact that they deceased on the same day, it was not the same day. The disparity originates from the fact that Spain used the Gregorian calendar at the time, while England used the Julian calendar.

The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW Washington, DC 20500

Statement by President Joe   Biden on the Occasion of World Press Freedom Day   2024

The free press is an essential pillar of democracy, and the women and men worldwide who uphold it do vital work. Journalists go to great lengths to expose corruption, document wars and other urgent world events, bring to light threats to public safety, and bring citizens the information they need to participate fully in their societies. Some journalists have given their lives to this work. Others have suffered grievous injuries or lost their freedom.

Journalism should not be a crime anywhere on Earth. On World Press Freedom Day, we honor the bravery and sacrifice of journalists and media workers around the world risking everything in pursuit of truth.

This is especially resonant today. 2023 was one of the deadliest years for journalists in recent memory. One reason for that is the war in Gaza, where far too many journalists, the vast majority of them Palestinian, have been killed. Additionally, over 300 journalists were imprisoned around the world last year – the highest number in decades.  In Russia, American journalists Evan Gershkovich and Alsu Kurmasheva have been imprisoned in connection with their work for the Wall Street Journal and for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. And Austin Tice is still being held hostage in Syria after nearly twelve years.

On World Press Freedom Day, the United States calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all journalists who have been put behind bars for simply doing their jobs. And we call for the protection of journalists everywhere, including during military operations. My Administration will continue to support free and independent media worldwide. We have brought together a coalition of countries to counter the proliferation and misuse of commercial spyware, which is often used to monitor journalists worldwide. And we’re taking action to combat crimes against journalists, strengthen security for independent media outlets, and provide legal support for investigative journalists around the world.

In the coming weeks, I will be taking executive action in response to the global crackdown on press freedom, as exemplified by the wrongful detention of journalists around the world. I will declare this crackdown on press freedom a grave threat to national security and will authorize measures, including sanctions and visa bans, against those who take abusive actions to silence the press.

Journalists and media workers are an essential part of any democracy, because well-informed dissent is critical to building stronger and more successful societies. Today and every day, we recognize their courage, support their right to do their jobs, and stand with them for press freedom.

Here is what Stormy Daniels testified happened between her and Donald Trump

Porn performer Stormy Daniels took the witness stand Tuesday in the hush money case against former President Trump, who looked on as she detailed their alleged sexual encounter and the payment she got to keep it quiet.

Prosecutors allege Trump paid Daniels to keep quiet about the allegations as he ran for president in 2016. Her testimony aired them very publicly as the presumptive Republican presidential nominee seeks to win the White House again.

Trump denies having sex with Daniels , and his lawyers unsuccessfully pushed for a mistrial midway through her testimony.

It was a major spectacle in the first criminal trial of a former American president, now in its third week of testimony in Manhattan.

Here are some takeaways from Daniels’ testimony:

The case centers on a $130,000 payment to Daniels from Trump’s then-lawyer, Michael Cohen, in the final weeks of Trump’s 2016 campaign. Prosecutors say it was part of a scheme to illegally influence the campaign by burying negative stories about him.

Stormy Daniels describes meeting Trump in occasionally graphic testimony

The porn actor’s testimony, even if sanitized and stripped of tell-all details, has been the most-awaited spectacle in Donald Trump’s hush money trial.

His lawyers have sought to show that Trump was trying to protect his reputation and family — not his campaign — by shielding them from embarrassing stories about his personal life.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, told jurors that she started exotic dancing in high school and appearing in adult films at age 23, eventually moving to direct more than 150 films and winning a roster of porn industry awards.

Key players: Who’s who at Donald Trump’s hush-money criminal trial

Meeting Trump

Daniels testified she first met and chatted with Trump at a 2006 Lake Tahoe celebrity golf outing where her studio was a sponsor.

He referred to her as “the smart one” and asked her if she wanted to go to dinner, she said. Daniels testified that she accepted Trump’s invitation because she wanted to avoid dinner with her co-workers and thought it might help her career. Trump had his bodyguard get her number, she said.

When they met up later in his penthouse, she appreciated that he seemed interested in the business aspects of the industry rather than the “sexy stuff.” He also suggested putting her on his TV show, “The Apprentice,” a possibility she hoped could help establish her as a writer and director.

She left to use the bathroom and was startled to find Trump in his underwear when she returned, she said. She didn’t feel physically or verbally threatened but realized that he was “bigger and blocking the way,” she testified.

“The next thing I know was: I was on the bed,” and they were having sex, Daniels recalled. The encounter was brief but left her “shaking,” she said. “I just wanted to leave,” she testified.

Payments for silence

Daniels was asked if Trump ever told her to keep things between them confidential, and said, “Absolutely not.” She said she learned in 2011 that a magazine had learned the story of their encounter, and she agreed to do an interview for $15,000 to make money and “control the narrative.” The story never ran.

In 2016, when Trump was running for president, Daniels said she authorized her manager to shop the story around but did not initially receive interest from news outlets. She said that changed in October with the release of the “Access Hollywood” tape in which Trump bragged about grabbing women sexually without asking permission . She said she learned that Cohen wanted to buy her silence.

Mistrial push

Midway through her testimony, Trump’s lawyers moved for a mistrial.

Defense lawyer Todd Blanche argued that Daniels’ testimony about the alleged encounter and other meetings with him had “nothing to do with this case,” and would unfairly prejudice the jury.

The judge rejected it, and he faulted defense attorneys for not raising more of their objections while she was testifying.

Before Daniels took the stand, Trump’s lawyers had tried to stop her from testifying about the encounter’s details, saying it was irrelevant in “a case about books and records.”

Prosecutors countered that Daniels’ testimony gets at what Trump was trying to hide and they were “very mindful” not to draw too much graphic detail. Before Daniels took the stand, they told the judge the testimony would be “really basic,” and would not “involve any details of genitalia.”

While the judge didn’t side with Trump’s lawyers, he acknowledged that some details were excessive. The objections could potentially be used by Trump’s lawyers if he is convicted and they file an appeal.

Cross-examination

Trump’s lawyers tried to attack Daniels’ credibility, suggesting she was motivated by money and that her account has shifted over the years.

“Am I correct that you hate President Trump?” defense lawyer Susan Necheles asked Daniels at one point. Daniels acknowledged she did.

“And you want him to go to jail?” the lawyer asked.

“I want him to be held accountable,” Daniels said. Pressed again whether that meant going to jail, she said: “If he’s convicted.”

The defense pressed Daniels on the fact that she owes Trump hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees stemming from an unsuccessful defamation lawsuit, and on a 2022 tweet in which she said she “will go to jail before I pay a penny.” Daniels dug in at times in the face of pointed questions, forcefully denying the idea that she had tried to extort money from Trump.

Trump whispered frequently to his attorney during Daniels’ testimony, and his expression seemed to be pained at one point as she recounted details about the dinner she says they shared. He shook his head and appeared to say something under his breath as Daniels testified that Trump told her he didn’t sleep in the same room as his wife.

On the way out of the courthouse, Trump called it “a very revealing day.” He didn’t address Daniels’ testimony explicitly but claimed the prosecutors’ case was “totally falling apart.”

Jarring split screen

Trump’s appearance in court Tuesday, like all other days he’s stuck in the courtroom, means he can’t be out on the campaign trail as he runs for president a third time. It’s a frequent source of his complaints, but Daniels’ testimony in particular might underscore how much of a distraction the trial is from the business of running for president.

While Trump was stuck in a Manhattan courthouse away from voters and unable to speak for much of the day, President Biden was attending a Holocaust remembrance ceremony and condemning antisemitism .

It’s an issue Trump has sought to use against Biden in the campaign by seizing on the protests at college campuses over the Israel-Hamas war .

Associated Press writer Price reported from New York, Whitehurst from Washington. AP writers Michael Sisak, Jennifer Peltz, Jake Offenhartz and Alanna Durkin Richer contributed to this story.

World Book and Copyright Day 2024: Date, theme, history and significance

W orld Book and Copyright Day, also known as International Day of the Book or World Book Day, is celebrated annually on April 23. This day holds significant importance globally as it promotes reading, publishing, and the protection of intellectual property through copyright laws.

World Book Day 2024: Theme

This year, the theme for World Book and Copyright Day is 'Read Your Way'. The theme is to encourage people to read more books and cultivate the good habit of reading.

World Book Day 2024: Date and History

The history of World Book and Copyright Day dates back to 1995 when UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) designated April 23 as a day to celebrate books and authors worldwide. The choice of this date is also symbolic as it marks the death anniversary of renowned writers such as William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes, and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. These literary giants made immense contributions to literature and continue to inspire readers and writers across generations.

World Book Day 2024: Significance

The primary objective of World Book and Copyright Day is to encourage people, especially children and youth, to cultivate a love for reading. Reading not only enhances knowledge but also fosters imagination, creativity, and critical thinking skills. By celebrating books and authors on this day, UNESCO aims to promote cultural diversity, multilingualism, and the exchange of ideas through literature.

Another important aspect of World Book and Copyright Day is the emphasis on copyright protection. Copyright laws play a crucial role in safeguarding the rights of authors, publishers, and creators of artistic works. They ensure that creators receive recognition and fair compensation for their intellectual efforts, thereby encouraging a vibrant literary and artistic ecosystem.

On this day, various events and activities are organized worldwide to celebrate the joy of reading and highlight the importance of copyright protection. These may include book fairs, author readings, literary workshops, storytelling sessions, and discussions on copyright issues. Schools, libraries, bookstores, and cultural institutions actively participate in promoting literacy and raising awareness about intellectual property rights.

In essence, World Book and Copyright Day serve as a platform to celebrate the power of books in shaping minds, preserving culture, and fostering creativity. It reminds us of the invaluable contributions of authors and the need to protect their works through effective copyright mechanisms. By embracing the world of books, we embrace a world of knowledge, imagination, and enlightenment.
