The Best Homework Apps For iPhone and iPad

By Justin Meredith 0 comments Last updated February 26, 2021

Today, we get to write about everyone’s favorite subject: Homework . More specifically, we’re going to talk about homework apps for iPhone and iPad.

Of course, most of us don’t actually get excited about homework. It’s boring, stressful, challenging, time-consuming, and lots of other adjectives that none of us like too much.

I hope, however, that by sharing some of these apps with you, you’ll be able to alleviate some of the negativity that’s attached to assignments. I’ll cover apps to help you schedule, solve, save, and prepare for your homework.

Let’s get started!

  • 1. myHomework: The ultimate homework planner
  • 2. Mathway: Get step-by-step solutions to your math homework
  • 3. Class Timetable: A beautiful way to view your class schedule
  • 4. Wyzant: Find a great tutor at a moment’s notice
  • 5. IELTS Essays: Take the pressure off of your essays
  • 6. Microsoft Lens: Save your notes, assignments, instructions, and more
  • 7. The Homework App: An alternative to myHomework
  • 1. Khan Academy: The ultimate learning resource
  • 2. Google Docs: Collaborate, write, and take notes for free
  • 3. Microsoft OneNote: The ultimate note-taking app for typed notes
  • 4. Wolfram Alpha: Every calculator ever in a single app
  • 5. Stack Exchange: Get answers in advanced subjects
  • 6. Apple Notes: The best note-taking app for handwritten notes

Start using the best homework apps for iPhone and iPad

The best homework apps for iphone.

First, we’re going to cover homework apps for iPhone. Many of these apps are available on iPhone and iPad, so be sure to download them to your device of preference.

I’m separating these apps based on how I suspect most of us use our iPhones vs. how we use our iPads. In other words, I’m going to be focusing on scheduling, calculating, and saving your homework on iPhone with the following apps.

Let’s start with a classic.

1. myHomework : The ultimate homework planner

myHomework is without a doubt the most popular homework app there is. If you only take one thing away from this article, it’s to download myHomework. I used this app through college and wish I had discovered it in high school.

homework planner iphone

myHomework combines your assignments and your class schedule into a single app. This allows you to use it to see when assignments are due, when classes are coming up, and how these two things relate to each other.

Even better, you can link assignments to your classes. And you can color-code your classes, too. This means that you’ll easily be able to see when assignments are due, what class they’re due for, and you can check these things on all of your devices (including a computer). You can even schedule recurring assignments and set reminders.

2. Mathway : Get step-by-step solutions to your math homework

Mathway is a great example of a tool that would only be possible in today’s day and age. It allows you to take a picture of your math homework (in any level or area of math) and instantly receive the answer.

While that’s a convenient way to get your homework done, it’s also not so great for learning. This is why Mathway also provides you with step-by-step directions on how to solve the problem. If you miss class, didn’t take enough notes, or are simply struggling to understand certain concepts, this can be a lifesaver.

Mathway even has a chatbot that you can interact with. You can ask it about certain types of problems, for definitions, and much more. It should be noted, though, that you’ll need to subscribe to the app for anything more than just getting the solution to a problem. If math is a major part of your coursework, however, it’s well worth the subscription.

3. Class Timetable : A beautiful way to view your class schedule

Like myHomework, Class Timetable allows you to enter your classes into a schedule and view them in a calendar. Unlike myHomework, however, you can view your courses in a much more visual and pleasing layout.

homework planner iphone

Rather than just listing out your classes and their times, Class Timetable shows you a visual calendar where your classes are represented by blocks. You can see how long classes are compared to one another in an instance and quickly see where your free time lies.

Class Timetable offers notifications, exporting, and more. It’s one of the prettiest apps for keeping track of your classes and can help you plan out your day way faster. It’s one of the best looking homework apps for iPhone to be sure.

4. Wyzant : Find a great tutor at a moment’s notice

As someone who has since left college, one of the resources I woefully ignored was tutoring. I was worried about embarrassing myself, admitting that I was struggling, and my grades suffered as a result.

This is why I think it’s super important for high schoolers and college students to use an app like Wyzant. Wyzant is like Yelp for tutors. You can quickly find tutors in your area, see their reviews, and message them to set up a meeting.

Wyzant hosts tutors for students in kindergarten through college. They even offer tutors for PSAT, ACT, SAT, LSAT, MCAT, GRE, and more. In other words, you’ll find someone who can help. And getting that help is so important that I had to include this on this list of homework apps for iPhone.

5. IELTS Essays : Take the pressure off of your essays

As someone who now writes for a living, I can confidently tell you that apps like IELTS Essays are a godsend. You can use this app and others like it to get past writers’ block and make essay writing less daunting.

homework planner iphone

IELTS Essays is an app that provides you with tips, advice, and examples for your essay writing. You can use it to come up with a response to a prompt, see how you should structure your essay, and brainstorm ideas.

The app even helps you outline your essay and polish your introduction. It’s a pretty simple app, but if you’re new to essay writing, the simple stuff can go a long way. It’s deserving of a spot on our best homework apps for iPhone.

6. Microsoft Lens : Save your notes, assignments, instructions, and more

Unlike everything else on this list of homework apps for iPhone so far, Microsoft Lens was not made specifically for homework. I doubt too many users even use it for this purpose. But I loved using it in college.

If you don’t know, Microsoft Lens is a simple app that allows you to quickly scan documents into your phone. You just point the in-app camera at a sheet of paper or whiteboard and snap a pic. It’ll automatically crop the image so that all you can see is the document. You can tweak the crop if you like as well as use it to edit photos in your Photos app.

You can save the photos you take with Microsoft Lens to your Photos app, Files app, export them as PDFs, and more. There are other apps like Microsoft Lens ( read here ) but Microsoft Lens is the one that’s stayed on my phone for years.

7. The Homework App : An alternative to myHomework

Ok, so I still think that myHomework is one of the best homework apps for iPhone. However, there are alternatives, and I’d be remiss not to suggest any. Just in case you end up not liking myHomework.

homework planner iphone

The Homework App is very similar to myHomework, with some slight adjustments. First, I think it’s a huge visual improvement. It looks way better, is much simpler, and all-around looks like an app made in 2021.

Second, The Homework App allows you to break your homework up into subtasks. For a basic assignment, this might not seem like a big deal. But when you’re working on a project that takes weeks and maybe even has graded milestones, this is an appreciated feature.

Third, you can add your instructors’ details to each of your assignments. This makes this app more of an all-in-one tool; you won’t be flipping back to your notes so often.

I recommend trying this out alongside myHomework and seeing which one better suits your needs.

The best homework apps for iPad

Next up, we have the best homework apps for iPad. As mentioned, these are going to differ slightly from the homework apps for iPhone, even though many of these apps are also available on iPhone.

In this list, I’ve tried to include apps related to note-taking, research, and studying, as I feel like these tasks are better suited to iPad users.

1. Khan Academy : The ultimate learning resource

First up on our list of homework apps for iPad is one of my favorite apps of all time: Khan Academy. If you don’t know what Khan Academy is, it’s a free education resource for pretty much everything. Any subject, question, course, or problem most likely has a resource on Khan Academy.

homework planner iphone

Khan Academy is a completely free app filled with lesson plans and video tutorials on everything. From basic math to calculus to chemistry to programming to English, there are Khan Academy courses that will teach and test you.

One of the best parts of Khan Academy is that it doesn’t care about grading you – its goal is to teach you. So it’ll keep helping you through a subject until you achieve mastery, not necessarily a good grade.

If you need a free alternative to a tutor, learn something new, or just keep your skills sharp, download this app.

2. Google Docs : Collaborate, write, and take notes for free

You probably already use Google Docs, but I couldn’t help but mention it in a homework context. If you already have a Google Account, then you already have free, unlimited access to Google Docs. It’s a robust word processor that you can use on all of your devices.

What makes Google Docs so great, though, is that it’s cloud-based. This means all of your assignments, notes, and essays are stored online for free. You’ll never lose the files. And you won’t be stuck using Apple Pages or Microsoft Word.

Additionally, Google Docs allows you to collaborate with other users on a doc in real-time, remotely. That means two people can be editing the same doc without needing to be in the same place. Super helpful for group notes or projects. It’s one of the staple homework apps for iPad.

3. Microsoft OneNote : The ultimate note-taking app for typed notes

If you prefer to type your notes like me, then OneNote is going to become one of your favorites. It’s a simple note-taking app that makes organization and layouts super easy.

First off, this app is separated by notebooks, which you can also divide into different sections. So a simple organization technique would be to have a notebook for each of your classes and then a new section of notes for each lecture. Everything can be color-coded as well, which is easy for quick identification.

Secondly, you can type anywhere, instantly. OneNote creates a new text box wherever you start typing. So you don’t have to take notes linearly. You can quickly add photos, too. In my opinion, this is superior to Apple Notes for anyone who prefers typed notes over handwritten ones.

4. Wolfram Alpha : Every calculator ever in a single app

Wolfram Alpha is one of those apps that you’ve probably used countless times without realizing. It has a web-based version that you can access at any time and that many websites incorporate into their own site. Like Google Images or Wikipedia, it’s just one of those internet things you bump into a lot.

homework planner iphone

Well, the Wolfram Alpha app for iPad is even better than the web version. The design is clean and simple, the features are extremely robust, and it contains everything you would ever need when it comes to calculators, graphs, and data.

In addition to its numerous calculators, Wolfram Alpha has features like hints, step-by-step solutions, an expanded keyboard, data pulled from websites, fitness information, and so much more. If the internet is like having a library in your pocket, this is like having every calculator in your pocket at once. It’s by far one of the best homework apps for iPad, and it’s only $2.99.

5. Stack Exchange : Get answers in advanced subjects

When I started college, I was surprised to find for the first time that I had questions Google couldn’t answer. The further you get into a particular study, especially if that study is complex, the harder it’s going to be to find information online. And you might have a professor that uses terms and concepts that are unique to them.

That’s where a forum like Stack Exchange can help you fill in the gaps. Similar to Reddit, Stack Exchange is a vote-based forum for people to ask and answer questions. Unlike Reddit, however, Stack Exchange is pretty serious. You’ll find that there are lots of rules, which can be tricky at first, but this creates a much more reliable resource in the end.

You can get educated and interactive answers on all kinds of topics. Many think that Stack Exchange is just for programming, but not so! Stack Exchange has forums dedicated to all kinds of disciplines and subjects, so you can find the one for your major and get personalized, educated advice to all of your questions. It’s like an upgrade for Google, which is why it’s made our list of homework apps for iPad.

6. Apple Notes : The best note-taking app for handwritten notes

I almost didn’t include this app since every iPad user already has this app and probably uses it. But just in case, I wanted to throw it out there.

By now, the majority of iPads have some form of Apple Pencil support. And thanks to iOS 14, that support includes handwritten text detection. This means that iPad can detect the words you write with the Apple Pencil and help you edit, spell check, and relocate your handwritten notes.

If you have an Apple Pencil and like to write your notes down, you should be taking notes in the Notes app. You can search your handwritten text, keep it stored and organized, and reduce the number of notebooks you’re carrying from class to class. And even if you like typing notes on your iPad, using the Notes app with the Apple Pencil makes it easy to include sketches and graphs with your notes.

And that’s all of the apps I have to suggest! I’ve used and loved most of these apps, and I hope that you do, too. They’re all great and useful and can make your school life so much easier. Not to mention that some of these apps can completely save your grade when you’re struggling.

Students have a lot on their plates — exams, coursework, tutorials, and projects all clog up their schedules. Then there’s your social life, familial obligations, and work.

How can you manage everything and still have fun?

Here’s the thing: The more organized you are with your time, the less stressed you’ll be. One study about nursing students found that better time management skills  were linked to reduced stress and anxiety.

So, how do you improve your time management? Of course, you could write everything down, but who carries a physical student day planner these days?

That’s where planner apps for students come in.

Today, you have tons of laptop and mobile software to choose from to keep your entire academic, professional, and personal life organized. A planner app allows you to take your student planner online.

Read on to learn some typical features of the best online planners for students and our top picks, including:

What Is a Student Planner App?

A student planner app is a downloadable tool that helps students manage their calendars and tasks in one place. An entrepreneur or lawyer might have a secretary to keep them organized — planner apps for students work similarly but without the labor costs.

You can conveniently access planner apps from computers and mobile devices, allowing you to customize task details and descriptions from anywhere.

While different apps might have unique features, here are some things the best student planner apps should have:

  • Calendar views
  • Customizable layouts and colors
  • Multiple project views
  • Reminder alerts and notifications
  • Deadlines and due dates
  • Progress and time tracking
  • Tasks and subtasks
  • Recurring tasks

Are student planner apps worth it.

If you mean “worth the price,” the answer is almost always yes. The best student planner apps have completely free versions, so there’s no harm in giving them a try.

Your personal, professional, and academic lives are demanding, so a helping hand in keeping things organized is worth the download.

But some software might feel more overwhelming than helpful. Here are a few important factors to consider when deciding on an online student planner:

The best planner apps for students should include the following:

  • Customizable views
  • Tag and sorting features
  • Notifications and alerts
  • User-friendly interface
  • Progress insights
  • Time tracking

7 Best Student Planner Apps

Perhaps you’re on a tight budget or can only access apps on your laptop. No problem — we’ve compiled the best student planner apps, complete with pricing, OS compatibility, and features.

Let’s dive in!

1. Calendly

Best student planner app—Screenshot of Calendly's website with a peak into the calendar view

Calendly is a global, omni-channel scheduling app for individuals and teams. Over 10 million people use it, including companies like Google and eBay.

Students can connect Calendly with other apps and calendars, such as Google Calendar and Microsoft 365. It’s particularly helpful for students involved in frequent group projects, as they can use Calendly to toggle invitations and availability in one place.

The free version is more than enough for a college student , but you can really pump up automation with the premium paid version.

While Calendly might be one of the best calendar apps for students, it feels more suitable for professional teams and business owners. The downside — you don’t get as many of the task planning features offered on other apps on our list. Entrepreneurs might need Calendly’s easy collaborative scheduling for clients, but some students wouldn’t need that feature.

  • Features:  Routing forms, workflows, team scheduling, availability preferences
  • Best for: Frequent meetings and group work
  • OS: Desktop, Android, and iOS
  • Basic: Free
  • Essentials: $8/month
  • Professional: $12/month
  • Teams: $16/month

Todoist screenshot showing daily list views for events

There’s something so satisfying about crossing things off a list. The online version of that would be Todoist, a to-do list planning app.

Students can organize their calendar events, projects, and homework in multiple visualizations, like calendar view and Kanban boards. We also love how you can prioritize tasks with highlights.

Todoist isn’t just a place to organize lists.  You can track time for study sessions and view productivity insights to improve your study flows. The app has an impressive 8.9/10 rating on TrustRadius with minimal bad reviews.

The only downside we could think of is that the free version might not be able to manage everything on a student’s plate.

  • Features:  Quick task and subtask adds, recurring tasks, prioritization, notifications, tags, filters
  • Best for: Time tracking and task categories
  • OS: Desktop, Android, iOS
  • Starters: Free
  • Pro: $4/month
  • Business: $6/month

3. myHomework Student Planner App

myHomework app website home page

Don’t be fooled by the basic website. Established in 2009, myHomework Student Planner App has a strong reputation among students and teachers. The app has a 4.5/5-star rating on Apple, with almost 4,000 reviews.

The interface is simple and intuitive , with a calendar view for all your homework and tests that you can filter by teacher or theme. Each task comes with an automatic reminder should you need it, so there’s no need to create separate ones for each task.

Some students lament the app’s lack of integration features with Google Calendar and other apps, though most reviews state the app gets the job done.

Another downside is the free version’s ads, which can get annoying.

  • Features:  Homework widgets, project and task tracking, device syncing
  • Best for: Syncing multiple devices
  • OS: Desktop, Windows, iPad, macOS, Android
  • Premium: $4.99/month

4. Power Planner

Power Planner app views

Power Planner has one of the most visually appealing mobile layouts out of all the apps on our list. The intuitive layout, complementary and customizable colors, and convenient agenda view make it easy to stay on top of all your tasks. We think this is the best planner app for students free of charge — the complimentary version has everything you need.

And if you’re a super planner and predictor? This app has a motivating “what if?” feature that shows you the grades you need to get to reach certain GPAs.  You’ll also enjoy automatic reminders, regular updates, and ultimate organization with Power Planner.

P.S. The app has an impressive 4.6/5 average rating on the Google App Store.

  • Features:  “What if” GPA scenarios, calendar and agenda views, automatic reminders
  • Best for:  Predicting grades
  • Premium: $1.99/month

5. Easy Study

Study insights from Easy Study app

Need help finding the motivation to study? Easy Study is a great way to get in the zone.

All you need to do is add your subjects, plan your study time for each one, and boom — the app creates a tailored, customizable plan for you. The most satisfying part is checking off different tasks for each study session.

The daily statistics are also a serious plus. You can view how much time you dedicated to each subject as a percentage-based circular chart and even add overall goals.

One downside we noticed is the frequent customer complaints about bugs. However, it looks like the company does its due diligence with frequent updates.

  • Features:  Notifications, study history insights, subject categories, goals
  • Best for:  Automatic study plans
  • OS:  Android, iOS
  • Basic : Free
  • Plus Monthly : $2.99
  • Plus Semiannually : $14.99
  • Plus Annually : $26.99

6. Evernote

Evernote home page screenshot

Evernote is a fantastic note-taking app. It’s not as popular for scheduling and calendar management, but hey — a large part of college planning happens within your courses, too.

Evernote helps you plan your notes through efficient templates, to-do lists, web clippings, and more.  Unfortunately, many users complain that the free version leaves much to be desired, with limited devices and a lack of reminders or due dates.

The good news? Students can access either a 50% discount on a one-year Personal subscription plan, including due dates, large storage capabilities, extensive search functions, Google Calendar syncs, and more.

If you’re feeling really fancy and collaborative, splurge on the Teams version (or ask a family member to gift it to you).

We think this is the best student planner app for managing multiple aspects of life — categories like professional and personal goals, vacation planning, and even pets complement your academic plans quite nicely.

  • Features:  Reminders, due dates, integrations, note-taking , web clipping, to-do lists
  • Best for:  Managing notes
  • OS:  Windows, macOS, iPhone, Android
  • Evernote Free: $0
  • Evernote Personal: $14.99/month
  • Evernote Professional: $17.99/month
  • Evernote Teams: $24.99/user/month

7. iStudiez Pro

Screenshot of iStudiez Pro home page

iStudiez Pro is a versatile planner app that helps you see homework, exams, assignments, and course schedules in one clear view. Easy, checkable boxes for tasks are categorized by course — the half-picture views let you manage tasks while still seeing your schedule for the day.

Students love the user-friendly interface for most devices, though some complain the iPhone views aren’t as clear as on the iPad.

You can also track grades for every assignment and task , allowing you to easily keep track of your GPA as you go through the semester.

  • Features:  Alarms, syncing, integrations, calendar, grades, bird’s eye schedule views, GPA tracking
  • Best for:  Managing homework tasks
  • OS:  Windows, macOS, iOS, Android
  • Premium: $2.99/month for mobile
  • Desktop versions: $9.99/month

Tips for making the most of student planner apps.

There are a few differences between a regular app and the best student planner app for college students — but the most important isn’t the type  of app. It’s how you use it.

Here are some tips to help you maximize organization and efficiency from student planner apps:

1. Plan Out Your Week

Saturday, Sunday, or Monday are all great days to plan your week. Take some time to plug in all of your week’s courses, classes, tasks, projects, and commitments. This should save you the hassle of adding things ad hoc and forgetting important due dates. You might also consider plugging in grades for different assignments if you’re working with an app that tracks your GPA.

2. Sort, Sort, Sort

Most of the apps on our list have categorization, tagging, and sorting features. Take time to categorize every task to search for related items easily.

3. Customize Your Layout and Colors

Who says planning has to be dull? Have fun with your student planner apps by customizing colors, fonts, and layouts.

Are you strictly a calendar-type organizer? Great, leave the app on the calendar view.

Are you more of a visual organizer? Perhaps a Kanban board is more your style!

Being a student isn’t easy, but modern technology offers a helping hand. We’ve given you a comprehensive list of the best student planner apps on the market. This should provide more opportunities for students to embrace remote learning while providing fantastic support for managing school-life balance.

Looking for more ways to stay organized?  Check out our article about How to Prepare for Grad School !

1. Are School Planner Apps Free?

Many student planner apps are free, though they might have premium paid versions with more features. A free student planner app usually has enough features to manage your calendar adequately.

2. What is the Best Student Planner App?

Many students love Power Planner and Todoist, but it’s all subjective. The best student planner app depends on your specific needs and preferences.

You might prefer a super user-friendly, visually appealing app with graph insights on time management. Or, you might be satisfied with a simple calendar view organizing your schedule.

3. Is Google Calendar Good for Students?

Certainly, Google Calendar is a great student planning app due to its widespread familiarity. You’re probably already somewhat versed in Google Calendar if you use Gmail. Moreover, the app is easy to use, allowing you to create new projects or events from your iPhone, Android, or computer with a few easy taps. Google Calendar also gives you push notifications to remind you of approaching deadlines and events.

I completely agree with the inclusion of Trello in this list! I’ve been using it for my academic planning and it’s been a game changer. The flexibility of the boards and the ability to set deadlines and reminders has helped me stay on top of my work and stay organized. Would love to hear more about your thoughts on the other apps mentioned in the post!

The Next iOS Update Will Let Anyone Change Their Default Phone and Messaging App, Not Just in Europe

This workaround auto-rotates your android phone's screen for certain apps, ai features are ruining smartphone innovation: here's why.

As a student, you're responsible for keeping track of test dates, quizzes, homework assignments, and final exams. On top of that, maybe you partake in after-school activities and sports. This makes it even harder for you to keep track of due dates and tests.

If you feel that you're sinking into a pile of assignments, you need to add some organization to your life. These are some of the best study planner apps for Android and iOS that can help you set times to study and remind you of upcoming exams, so you're not caught off-guard.

Chipper is one of the most popular and best study planners for students. Using Chipper can greatly improve your time-management skills.

This study planning app comes equipped with several tools dedicated to students . Simply add all the courses that you're currently taking, and organize them by time and date in the built-in schedule.

Chipper also allows you to add tests, homework due dates, papers, labs, and quizzes to your calendar to help you stay on top of your coursework. On top of that, you can set reminders that Chipper will send as notifications, so you never miss a deadline. And when you're ready to study, open the Study tab to set a timer for your session.

That means you don't need to download a Pomodoro timer app for such. But if you do, here are the best Pomodoro timer apps .

This app rewards you with earnings in the form of imaginary cash as you complete tasks. You don't actually receive any of these earnings in real life, but it's a good incentive to keep you moving forward.

2. Classify

Use Classify to build an easy-to-read schedule for your homework assignments, projects, quizzes, and other activities. Because it has a clear and simple interface and a lot of useful features, it is a unique study tracker app.

Classify helps you organize your school life by adding everything important in one place. It also provides templates for tasks, homework assignments, and events. For example, you can attach a PDF when you add an assignment, and you can set priorities for tasks.

Simply add this semester's courses, along with assignments and their due dates. Classify will let you know when your assignments are due and give you helpful reminders about upcoming deadlines, making it a great study planner app for students. Additionally, it has a Pomodoro functionality built-in if you fancy using the Pomodoro technique .

When you add your classes, you can input detailed information about them such as the room number, module, time, and even the teacher.

If you struggle to remember holidays or class rotations, you can input that information in My Study Life as well. Your dashboard displays all your upcoming assignments, exams, and classes. This way, you'll never forget about that assignment that's due tomorrow.

However, if you want to add more than one semester and five grades per class, you'll have to spend a few dollars on the premium version.

5. Lessons School Planner

Lessons School Planner is a study tracking app that is built with simplicity in mind ensuring your energy is focused on increasing productivity and getting work done instead of organization. It can be likened to a simple to-do list tool but for students. When you download the app, you can start by creating a custom lesson plan, or importing one if you have it already on another device.

The app has lessons added already, but you can customize them depending on your needs. It makes organization easier by using a number system to organize lessons.

Tapping on a subject on your daily lesson plan allows you to add activities related to it, like an upcoming assignment submission deadline, exam, test, project, presentation, and more. These activities can then be viewed on a dedicated page. The app also allows you to set reminders for your tasks, ensuring that you don't miss out on anything important.

6. Study Bunny: Focus Timer

Study Bunny is a less conventional study tracker app, but it makes studying a lot more fun. For starters, it introduces you to an adorable cartoon bunny that acts as your study partner.

You can use the app to time study sessions, create awesome to-do lists , make flashcards, and keep track of your progress.

When you start studying, you'll earn coins that you can use to treat the bunny. You can buy items to feed and customize your pal, which will help motivate you to finish a long study session.

Vaia (formerly StudySmarter) is a helpful study-planning app that lets you collaborate with other students from around the world.

To help you save time, the app allows for shareable flashcards. This means that you can search for and use flashcards that other users have already made which makes learning easier. As a study planner app for students, Vaia is also featured in our list of the best flash card apps .

In addition to that handy feature, Vaia lets you upload and annotate documents, as well as create study groups with students from other universities. 8. myHomework Student Planner

The myHomework Student Planner app is a straightforward way to keep tabs on your studies. To get started, you simply have to input your class schedule and any upcoming assignments.

9. Smart Timetable

To get started on Smart Timetable, add your classes as events with how often you want to study for them. When it's time to hunker down, Smart Timetable will send a notification to your phone as a reminder.

The app allows you to input additional information about each class including the type, building and room number, and instructor, and you can even upload class notes. Each day the app's home page has the day's classes, and you can swipe left to view upcoming classes in the follow-up days.

There's also a task tab where you can add your upcoming assignments and tick them off once you're done.

Download: Smart Timetable for Android (Free, subscription available)

10. School Planner

The School Planner app has a ton of versatility when it comes to schedule options. You can input your classes into the app by using the available easy-to-use default templates.

Templates include everything you need to stay on top of your classes, including day, time, teacher, subject, frequency, and room. You also have the ability to add any upcoming events, whether it's a simple reminder, an upcoming exam, or a homework submission deadline.

All the upcoming tasks will show up on the app's home page in a sleek Overview page with a snapshot of any upcoming events in the next seven days, what's on your schedule today, tomorrow, and a detailed outlook of the upcoming week. School Planner's interface and organization make it one of the best study scheduling apps around.

The experience isn't limited to class times and assignments; you can also add grades, teachers, recordings, and days you were absent. Hit the hamburger icon in the top left to get an idea of how much the app offers.

Ratings and Reviews

Procrastination can make life really difficult, especially if you’re like me who is a junior in high school with severe ADHD, working mostly from the not- so- comfort of my obnoxiously loud home. I downloaded this app with no standards, as I’ve tried many different downloads to stay on top of my work. this app has made it so much easier to know exactly what I have do and when it’s needed to be turned in, and i’ve had significant less trouble forgetting assignments. However, I multitask by doing something on my phone and my computer when I am working, and would love to have a Google Chrome extension to this app. it would make it even easier to see my assignments on my Chromebook along with my phone. I don’t know if this is possible, but the creators might want to look into this, as it would probably draw more audiences with high school mandated chrome books/ laptops.

Truly incredible!

This app is marketed towards college and university students, but it’s just as helpful to a high schooler such as myself. B4Grad has made so many things easier for me, as I can glance down at my phone and see what I have due coming up soon and I can get to work sooner rather than later. While it hasn’t completely abolished my procrastinating tendencies (though that would be REALLY cool to see), it has cracked down on them, and I’m now passing my classes! Some things I would like to see are customizable alert times and the addition of other events. With the current system, you only receive alerts for one month, two weeks, one week, and three days in advance for long term assignments. If that system was expanded to allow for more suggestions like 3 weeks, 5 days, 2 months, etc, it would make the experience more friendly for first time users. By “the addition of other events” as I called it, your three options are Lectures, Labs, and Tutorials. Adding options like Projects and/or Presentations would help out a lot, especially for assignments that don’t fit the previous three niches. Overall, I am truly impressed with the quality of the app and the extent of its abilities. I hope to see many more updates in the future!

Convenient and satisfying organizer

In the past, I’ve tried everything from Outlook calendars to handwritten planners to Post-It notes, but I’ve never found a tool as convenient as this app for organizing my schedule. I like how I can store all the contact information for my professors, as well as their office hour times and location. However, I’m not able to enter specific days for their office hours. For example, professors usually have office hours on 2-3 days each week, not everyday. It’s also very satisfying to swipe away homework that is completed! It really helps me stay motivated to get everything on my screen done so I can see all the scratched off items! It also serves as my one source of truth for what isn’t done. For example, if I need to make a discussion post on Canvas and comment on two other people’s posts, Canvas will show the assignment as completed after making the first post. However, I don’t swipe it away from B4Grad until I’ve made all three of the required posts in the discussion. Overall, this app is super useful for keeping my life in order, and I highly recommend!
