Calculate for all schools

Your chance of acceptance, your chancing factors, extracurriculars, submitting sat scores on common app – composite or sections.

Okay, so when sending SAT scores through the Common App, do I report my highest single test date composite score or can I mix and match section scores from different dates?

When you're reporting your SAT scores on the Common App, you should enter the highest composite score from a single test date. Colleges typically want to see scores from one sitting as it best reflects your abilities at a given time.

Although some colleges do ‘superscore’—meaning they consider the highest section scores across multiple sittings—this is something you can't do on your initial Common App SAT score section. If the schools you're applying to allow superscoring, you may mention your other scores in the additional information section or allow the colleges to do that calculation themselves when they receive your official score reports.

Just remember to check each college's standardized test score policy on their admissions webpage to see if they superscore and if they require or recommend sending all test scores. If a school superscores, then it's in your best interest to send all your SAT scores directly from the College Board, even if only the best scores are reported in the Common App.

Jul 25, 2023 • knowledge, information.

The ACT section of the Common App has been built to accommodate current and previous versions of the ACT. You should report your highest individual Composite and Test scores earned so far, even if they are from different test dates. If you took the ACT with Writing after September 1, 2016, you will enter a number between 2 and 12 for your Writing score. If you took the ACT with Writing before September 1, 2016, you will enter a number between 1 and 36 for your Writing score.
