Course Description

Designed by one of world golf's most respected golf course architects, Donald Steel, in 1990, Bondhay Golf Club, set in the heart of the Dukeries, is a superb test of golf. The course has matured quickly and is now one of the best championship parkland tests in the area. Playing off the tips (back tees) you'll find this course quite a challenge. Bunkers are a predominant feature here and many of the greens are hard to hit, as they contain tight, narrow entrances.

Water is also to be found on a number of holes and you'll need all your wits about on a number of approach shots.

The last three holes provide a tough run in home to the clubhouse which has views over the course and further beyond.

I recently had the privilege to play this course with two lifetime members. The weather was good the company was good the course was excellent. What a challenge this course is for all handicaps. There are short par 4's where you are tempted to drive long but beware of the narrowing fairways. The back 9 is worthy of championship status where birdies or triple bogies are abound by the plenty!!! My tip for you is to keep it straight and in play off the tee and you can't go far wrong but hit the rough and things become tough! The finishing hole is a great par 5 with a chance to lie up before the pond or risk everything and GO for it! Good luck and I hope you have a great round at a great golf course. ps; DO NOT wear a hat in the clubhouse!

The changes and improvements to the Devonshire 18 hole Championship Course over the last 2 years are amazing and a tribute to the new owners. The 11th, par 3, has been completely redesigned with a new tee, new bunkers, more water and even a fountain to complete the picture. The new trees are now established creating tunnels to fire down go into the bunkers at your peril and even the best tee shot often leaves a long iron to reach the green. An 'all year round course' in lovely countryside.

What a challenge, Thousands of young trees nearly 100 bunkers testing par 4 and par 5,s keep on the fairway or the trees or bunkers will get you. Holes 10 and 11 both over water. hole 11 short par 3 but with 5 bunkers around it and water in front of it narrow green to aim for what a tester.A very intresting and testing course.Looking forward to playing it again.

this course is the worst i have ever played and they think its championship calibare how wrong they are. If you manage to hit the awfull fairways you cant hit the green because they are like concrete and the pins are always at the front. And if ur in the rough you have a tree in the way and you cant chip out because there are bunkers everywhere or if you are in a bunker then you also have a tree or a rediculous pond in the way. Only play this course if you paid to do so

A great little courses which is great for the kids or as a warm-up round. Though it is a par three nine-holer you will find the holes suprisingly challenging and the first two are 3-wood length. In contrast one of the later holes is tiny and can be reached, on a good day, with a putter!! The clubhouse is first class and the country club as a whole provides an excellent day out. Give it a try.

Visitors Frequently Asked Questions

These dress rules are for the guidance of Members and visitors. They are intended to be open, understandable and consistent with standards of dress considered acceptable at modern-day Golf Clubs.

The rules are not intended to be entirely prescriptive and are, in some cases, open to interpretation. Still, Members are expected to take personal responsibility for observing standards of dress that reflect well on themselves and the Club.

Visitors, visiting societies, visiting teams and those participating in open competitions must comply with these dress rules. It is up to Members to ensure that their guests are advised accordingly. Golfers should change their clothing and footwear in the locker rooms, preferably not in the car park.

Clubhouse Dress Code

Acceptable In the Clubhouse

• Recognised golf or smart casual wear.
• Tailored shorts may be worn.
• Shoes / Trainers / Deck Shoes may be worn without socks
• Leather sandals
• Smart jeans
• T-Shirts with and without a collar, tucked or untucked
• Golf Shoes are permitted only in the 19th hole.

Unacceptable In the Clubhouse

• Waterproof Jackets
• Waterproof Trousers
• Caps & Hats
• Sports, beach, cargo, shorts
• Cargo or tracksuit trousers
• Plastic or Rubber flip flops/sandals
• Shorts with coloured socks
• Non dimpled golf shoes (only in the Dining room and Lee Westwood Lounge)
• Dress rules may be relaxed in certain circumstances by the Club Captain or, in his absence, aDirector, the Team Captain of the day or the authorised event organiser.
