As you know that today our Yoga Group Foundation has successfully completed one year, so today’s event has been organized to celebrate this one-year achievement. On this auspicious day, please allow me to heartily congratulate and express words of gratitude to our members of Yoga Group Foundation who worked hard to spread awareness among the masses about the benefit of yoga and helped made available necessary resources to make this one-year session a harbinger of bodily health and fitness with mental happiness. Also, I want to thank all the society people who never missed a day and showed enthusiasm to learn this art form and spread the teaching amongst others.

I, Nandini, your host for today’s event and one of the co-founders of this group wish to deliver a short speech on Yoga – the science behind it and forms its essence.

Many of us perform Yoga on a daily basis, but how many actually know about what this art form entails and why it is performed. So it’s basically a method to achieve balance in our bodies, i.e. gaining strength, increasing flexibility and attaining spirituality. Yoga also endorses a non-materialistic way of living. Yoga is more precisely described through the use of the Sanskrit word called “asana” which means the practicing of different types of physical postures or asanas. The yoga postures are an indispensable part of the yoga. Usually, the class begins with normal breathing exercises and then goes on to incorporate gentle asanas followed by more tough ones. The yoga asanas are performed keeping in mind all the body parts as well as combine breathing practices, including guided mediation.

There are different poses for which the instructor guides you throughout; these poses include standing, sitting, back bending, forward bends, upside-down asanas as well as twisting postures. Besides these, there are other different types of yoga which are especially tailored to suit the different needs of people. For instance, there is Hatha Yoga, which is the most practiced form and deals with the breathing exercises and bodily postures. Then there are two other types of yoga, i.e. Karma and Bhakti Yoga, which are advised to people who are looking to gain spiritual experience in life.

This is an art form known to humanity from thousands of years whose history can be traced back to 3,000 BC. Since then, it is being practiced by various spiritual gurus and in the contemporary times, yoga is being looked up as a disciplinary form itself to be taught in various schools and colleges. The definitive aim of yoga is to help a person rise above the self and gain a sublime experience. Even in Bhagavad-Gita, it is written, “A person is said to have achieved yoga, the union with the Self, when the perfectly disciplined mind gets freedom from all desires, and becomes absorbed in the Self alone.” Though it’s not a religion, but it is certainly a mode of living life that works towards attaining a sound mind as well as a healthy body.

So unleash the power of yoga, feel energized and develop a zest of living.

I, your senior yoga teacher, heartily welcome everyone to today’s weekly event, of which Yoga is a major highlight. To begin with, I would like to deliver a short speech on Yoga with a view to spread more awareness about this subject amongst you all.

Workout trends come and go, but literally no other form of exercise is as stable as yoga and it has been around for over a period of 5,000 years now. International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21st every year. On June 21st, the world unites in harmony, Celebrating Yoga Day, a global serenity symphony. Yoga helps us way beyond than just burning the calories and toning down our muscles. It’s an all-inclusive workout that focuses on both mind and body. Under yoga training, one performs all kinds of stretching and strengthening poses, including deep breathing, relaxation or meditation.

Currently, over 100 diverse forms of yoga are known, which are rigorous and intense while others are mild and relaxing. There are six different forms of yoga that are well-known today:

  • Hatha – The form is mainly related with yoga and combines a sequence of basic movements, including breathing.
  • Vinyasa – It includes a sequence of poses which smoothly flow from one to the other.
  • Iyengar – It is a type of yoga which makes use of props, such as straps, blocks and chairs in order to help one move his/her body with the proper alignment.
  • Bikram – Also called as “hot yoga”, this form includes a sequence of 26 complex poses performed in a heated room that carries a high temperature.
  • Power – A more rapid, greater-intensity practice that shapes muscles.
  • Ashtanga – A sequence of poses that combines an exceptional breathing technique.

You just name it and you’ll get it! Beautiful, glowing skin; a well-built, flexible body; regulated weight; sound health and calm mind – the benefits of yoga include all this and so much more. However, more often than not yoga is being seen to be restricted to asanas, i.e. poses. This is the reason why its benefits are only identified at the bodily level and we overlook its enormous benefits that yoga offers in bringing together the body and mind. When both your body and mind are in sync with each other, then life becomes more fulfilling and happier than ever before.

So everyone must practice yoga and make it a part of daily routine in order to get a strong, flexible and supple body. Its regular practice helps improve your body posture while you walk, sit or sleep. This will in turn also help you relive your body pain owing to inappropriate postures.

Yoga when combined with meditation has the power to better your intuitive skills so that you can quickly ascertain what is required to be done, when it is to be done and how in order to gain positive results. This does work wonders and you can experience the change yourself only when you practice it without fail.

Remember yoga is a never ending process. The deeper you delve into it, the more fruitful will be the results. That’s all I can say.

I hearty welcome all of you to our yoga auditorium and today is a very special day for our “ Stay Fit Organization ” because our organization has completed five years of success in motivating people for staying fit through yoga. As a manager of this organization, I am feeling highly privileged for hosting this event. As our organization is all about yoga and fitness, so in this context I would like to say a few words about yoga and it may help the newcomers to get motivated for staying fit.

First of all, it is very important to understand that what is yoga? It is the union between body and mind or we can say that it is a way to create a balance between mind and body. Yoga was said to be originated in India and therefore, it is known as “ Yog ” all around the world. Today, the knowledge and practice of yoga is getting disseminated all around the world and which is a very good thing. In yoga, we get to learn about many body postures or poses for keeping ourselves fit such as sitting, standing, forward bending, backward bending, upside-down postures etc. There are uncountable poses in yoga.

Many poses are required flexibility such as plow pose, pigeon pose, upward bow pose, fish pose etc; and many people does not have enough flexibility in their bodies, so there are many other poses which do not require high flexibility such as the perfect pose, mountain pose, chair pose, triangle pose etc . As there are uncountable poses, so there are uncountable benefits of practicing yoga also. Benefits defers from one pose to another. Practicing yoga is absolutely worthy and it has the potential to cure many diseases like respiratory problems, abdominal problems, diseases related to nervous system etc. It helps in reliving negativity and toxins from our body. It helps in reducing stress level and increasing awareness. Especially for children, it helps in building concentration power and focus. It can be said that it is a best medicine for curing respiratory problems and also works best for abdominal diseases like stomach ache and infections. It also helps in enhancing personality because automatically, if a person is disease free then he or she will look good and healthy.

After getting aware about all these benefits, I hope that many among you people are willing to pursue yoga for living a healthy life because we all know that health is wealth .

As this is a special day for our organization so, today our organization is giving a free trial session of three days to all the people who are interested in yoga. I am assuring you that it is going to change your life because I have experienced it by myself. Yoga is the best path for staying healthy and maintaining body balance. Practicing yoga consistently often leads to a profound sense of happiness and contentment

As we all know that today is June 21, 2017 and this date is declared as “ International Yoga Day ” by “ United Nations General Assembly ”. This date was proposed by our honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi . It is said that on this day, the first yogi (Adi Guru) begun imparting the knowledge of yoga to the rest of mankind and became the first yoga guru.

As a head girl of this school, I would like to grab this opportunity to say a few words on highlighting the importance and benefits of yoga. I hope it may help you in understanding about yoga as an essential part of our daily life.

Many people wonder that what is yoga and how it can help in maintaining physical and mental stability? Yoga is a process for the union of body and mind or we can say that it is a process of maintaining stability between body and mind. In ancient period, yoga was a way of attaining enlightenment. In today’s world of high technology and hectic life, yoga is playing an important role in maintaining fitness and mental stability in our body and mind. It consists of various poses and postures of the body and in Sanskrit language we call it “ asanas ”. Some poses or asanas are complicated and therefore they need proper implications but some of them are very simple and can be practiced on our own. Many people choose to join yoga classes but some people who are not comfortable at classes, so they could buy yoga DVDs that are available in markets.

The formation of different kinds of yoga has been done to reach the solutions of different problems of people. Many people practice yoga on daily basis and hence they know the effects and positive changes that occurs in their body and life due to yoga. There could be no instant effect but if it is practiced on daily basis then the results could be seem. Yoga should become an integral part of our life just like sleeping and eating.

The benefits of yoga are infinite and it has the potential to cure many diseases. Many people are practicing yoga in today’s world to remain healthy. For aged people who cannot do intensive exercises, yoga proves to be a best choice for them. In yoga, we practice postures on the basis of its difficulty. We should start with a simple pose and then pursue for a difficult one.

Many people and even small kids have respiratory problems these days due to air pollution and lack of fresh air. In yoga, there are many poses and exercises that have the potential to cure respiratory problems. But not only respiratory but also it helps in curing many other diseases related to our nervous system, abdominal problems, joint problems etc. For instance, “ bending poses” are done for strengthening joints and muscles, “ balancing poses ” are done for strengthening arms and legs, “seated yoga poses ” are done for flexibility and reliving mental stress, “supine yoga poses” are done for flexibility and there are many other different kinds of poses.

An Introduction to Yoga

Yoga is the ancient way to attain physical, mental, and spiritual practice. Primarily originating in India, the word 'yoga' is derived from Sanskrit, meaning to unite. This unity signifies the ultimate union of the body with consciousness and thus attaining definitive peace.

Recognizing the universal appeal of Yoga, on December 11 2014, the United Nations proclaimed June 21 to be marked as the International Day of Yoga.

It was first started by our present Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. He celebrated Yoga Day for the first time on June 21 in 2015, after which Yoga Day started being celebrated all over the world on June 15, and it turned into International Yoga Day. Since then, Yoga Day has been celebrated every year by the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) in India.

As per the calendar, this date is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest in the Southern Hemisphere. Also, from the Yoga's perspective, this summer solstice marks the transition to Dakshinayana. Dakshinayana is the six-month tenure for the sun to travel to the south on the celestial sphere in between the Summer and the Winter solstice.

In today's times, this is practised in various forms across different parts of the world and is growing more and more popular. The main aim of celebrating International Day of Yoga is to raise awareness of the multitude of benefits of Yoga. However, Yoga is much more than just a mere physical activity.

As per one of the famous Yoga practitioners, late B. K. S. Iyengar, Yoga is the best way to cultivate and maintain a balanced attitude in daily life while bequeathing the best of performance skills in every action being made.

History of International Yoga Day

Yoga is a centuries-old practice that originated somewhere around 5,000 years ago in India. This was looked up as a process and technique to interconnect the mind, body and soul together and take a step closer to enlightenment. As this practice gained popularity in the West, this started to be termed an exercise and relaxation method. This was also associated with the claims to alleviate any existing physical injuries and chronic pains.

The idea to mark June 21 as International Yoga Day was first proposed by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 27, 2014. It was during his UN General Assembly speech where the resolution was introduced by India's Ambassador, Asoke Kumar Mukerji, to June 21 as International Yoga Day.

On June 21, 2015, i.e., when this day was first celebrated, more than 36,000 people from all over India joined Prime Minister Modi to perform 21 yoga postures, also called asanas, for 35 minutes at Rajpath, New Delhi. Shri Narendra Modi was further joined by other high-profile political and famous leaders across the globe.  

What is Yoga?

Yoga is a process in which man tries to bring his mind, body and soul together. Yoga is a Sanskrit word meaning to meet or be united. Yoga originates from Indian culture. People have been practising Yoga since about 5000 years ago. Yoga does not have physical fitness primarily; in Yoga, people try to control their body and mind through mental focus and breathing methods.

If men teach Yoga, then they are called yogis, and if women teach, they are called yoginis. Yoga Sutra is a 2000-year-old book. This is the only book in which written evidence of Yoga has been found. This book is the oldest book about Yoga. Yogic philosophy is described in this book. A lot of methods have been conveyed about how someone can control their mind, their emotion, and merge into spirituality.

Yoga is divided into six branches, namely Hatha Yoga, Raja yoga, Karma yoga, Bhakti yoga, Jnana yoga, Tantra yoga. There are also seven chakras of yoga styles namely Sahasram chakra, Ajna chakra, Vishuddha chakra, Anahata chakra, Manipura chakra, Svadhishthana chakra, Muladhara chakra.

There are total 13 types of Yoga: Kundalini Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Yin Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Bikram Yoga, Power Yoga, Sivananda Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Aerial Yoga, Acro Yoga.

Benefits of Yoga

Yoga is the only process in which you can exercise without any equipment. Not only that but in Yoga, you can drive away your diseases without any medicine.

With Yoga, you can increase the flexibility of your body. If there is flexibility in one's body, then the pain is much less in that body. Doing Yoga can relieve your pain.

If a person does Yoga for 20 to 30 minutes daily, then his body does not get tired throughout the day.

Yoga is very beneficial for children. Yoga is also helpful in calming the mind, and it is also helpful in showing the right attitude. Doing Yoga produces positive thoughts, and it also takes the mind to do the right thing

Muscles get strong by doing Yoga. By going to the gym, doing weight exercises also strengthen muscles, but when you do Yoga, your muscles become strong, and at the same time, it becomes flexible also, so there is no arthritis and back pain.

Doing Yoga keeps the mind calm. By doing this, anxiety does not come. Diseases like mental stress and hypertension remain away from the body.

Doing Yoga improves human posture.

Yoga helps bones remain strong, and there is no joint pain. Blood flow remains good by doing Yoga. It also improves the heart rate of the body and also boosts immunity. Not only this, but Yoga also helps in controlling blood pressure and controls blood sugar levels.

Weight loss is also very quick and easy due to Yoga. Yoga makes the person happy all the time. It enhances peace of mind which leads to good sleep.

Role of India to promote Yoga

Yoga originated in India. Yoga has been practised in India for about 5000 years; every person in India knows about Yoga very much in advance, people know its benefits, and it has been done before it became popular in the world. In his speech given in the UN, the current Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, gave the idea of making International Yoga important.

He said in his speech," Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but discovering the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and nature. Changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness can help in well-being. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day."

With this, the UN Assembly accepted this proposal and decided to celebrate International Yoga Day on June 21 every year. Also, there are several exercises being organized in the schools like writing International Yoga Day Essays for students in English and other vernacular languages.

Significance of Yoga

Shiva, also known as Adiyogi, is considered the originator and creator of Yoga. This was further brought to the masses by the Saptarishis. As per the Indian mythological story, Shiva sat in a meditating position for years. Then, seven people were impressed by his level of determination, so they decided to learn from him, and they sat still for more than 84 years.

After this, Lord Shiva noticed these 7 beings on the summer solstice day and transmitted the science of meditation to the Saptarishis (7 rishis).

Good morning to everyone present. Today is International Yoga Day 2021. We have been celebrating since its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. Taking this opportunity, I would like to speak a few words on its benefits and why we need to incorporate yoga in our daily life. Yoga is a science of bringing balance between mind and body. It is an art of healthy living and is deeply rooted in our Indian Culture since ancient times.

Yoga is connected to spiritual discipline and is originated from the Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’ meaning to join or to unite. It was initiated by Lord Shiva, who is also known as Adiyogi. Our Rishi, Sages and Saints have been practising and disseminating the same to the people. India being the pioneer, helped other countries realize its benefits and spiritual meaning affixed to it.

As a head girl of this school, I would like to grab this opportunity to say a few words on highlighting the importance and benefits of yoga. I hope it may help you in understanding about yoga as an essential part of our daily life.

Many people wonder that what is yoga and how it can help in maintaining physical and mental stability? Yoga is a process for the union of body and mind or we can say that it is a process of maintaining stability between body and mind. In ancient period, yoga was a way of attaining enlightenment. In today’s world of high technology and hectic life, yoga is playing an important role in maintaining fitness and mental stability in our body and mind. It consists of various poses and postures of the body and in Sanskrit language we call it “asanas”. Some poses or asanas are complicated and therefore they need proper implications but some of them are very simple and can be practiced on our own. Many people choose to join yoga classes but some people who are not comfortable at classes, so they could buy yoga DVDs that are available in markets.

But not only respiratory but also it helps in curing many other diseases related to our nervous system, abdominal problems, joint problems etc. For instance, “bending poses” are done for strengthening joints and muscles, “balancing poses” are done for strengthening arms and legs, “seated yoga poses” are done for flexibility and reliving mental stress, “supine yoga poses” are done for flexibility and there are many other different kinds of poses.

Today, I, Shivam, have got an opportunity to share my views on “Impact of Yoga in our life.”

We all know that yoga is basically a method to achieve balance in our body, i.e. gaining strength, increasing flexibility and attaining concentration and spiritually.

In fact, the famous ‘Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra is an authority on the various postures of the body and breath control exercises. So, regular practice of yoga is needed to maintain good health.

Truly, many of us perform yoga daily but how many actually know about what the yoga entails and why it is performed. So, the definitive aim of yoga is not only to ensure our good health but also to endorse a non – materialistic way of living. Yoga is described through the use of the Sanskrit word Aasanas’ which means different types of physical postures. So, the yoga postures are an essential part of yoga besides Pranayam, the breathing exercises. Thus, yoga addresses the needs of our physical and mental health, and concentration and peace of mind it is the journey of the self, to the self, and through the self.

As Principal of your school you have found some students reaching the school late in the morning, coming late to their classrooms after recess, returning lazily to the theory class after doing practicals in the laboratory. Write a speech in 150 – 200 words that you will deliver on the importance of discipline and punctuality in life. Answer: Good morning teachers and dear students. Today, I want to share my views on “the importance of discipline and punctuality in life.

Discipline and punctuality play a vital role in one’s progress in every sphere of life. In fact, discipline and punctuality in schools and colleges implies regular preparation of lessons, attending the classes on time and learning correct behaviour in society. It is the duty of every student to be disciplined and punctual if one has to prosper in life. The greater the discipline and punctuality in an academic institution, the higher is the respect commands and the better it does to fulfil its objective of training young minds.

On the other hand, an undisciplined and unpunctual man proves to be a complete failure in the society. This is because he fails to keep track of his goals and is unable to fulfil them in time. As such, he proves i to be a misfit in the society. It would not be wrong to say that those indisciplined and unpunctual are a burden on the society rather that an asset. Their whole life is unproductive. They do not add anything ; to the country’s progress and prosperity.

So my sincere advice to you is to maintain fiscal discipline. Do not overspend, maintain social discipline, follow society norms. Do not violate them. Finish all your obligations in a fixed time. As leaders of tomorrow these qualities will go a long way making you’as successful as success is.

Question 3. The students of your school got 100 per cent marks in various subjects in Senior School Certificate Examination this year. This achievement was made through the efforts made by the students under the guidance of their teachers. Write a speech in 150 – 200 words congratulating the teachers and the students. Answer: Good morning everybody. You would be glad to know that the students of our school have really done well securing cent per cent marks in Secondary examination this year.

I congratulate the toppers and the teachers who guided them. This is really a great achievement of the students who brought glory to the school. Every year we allow all the students to appear in class XII board exams. According to official records, during tire last ten years, our students in science stream had secured 85 per cent marks. But this year, the results of the students are really extraordinary.

I appreciate the constant efforts of the students to make it to the top. Some toppers said they worked hard and relentlessly, thus making sure that every possible error was taken into consideration. Some students asked, “Sir, what is the success mantra of being a topper?” To quote Hammarskjold, “Never measure the height of a mountain until you have reached the top, you will realise how it was.” This is the success mantra – practice always makes us perfect.

Do you think the tips you get from the book sufficient to secure 100 per cent marks in the exams? It is not sufficient to get to the top. What you need is the Internet browsing for learning from question banks and video lectures. You can make use of other tools that will help you gather required knowledge beyond what the books would offer you. I wish the toppers well placed in life.

Today I feel privileged as I stand here to speak about Sakshi Malik, who has made every Indian proud by her stellar performance at Rio Olympics 2016. We all know that she is a freestyle wrestler and has won the bronze medal in the 58 kg category becoming the first Indian female wrestler to win a medal at the Olympics and the fourth female Olympic medallist from India.

Let me remind my friends that all this cannot be achieved in a day. It takes years of toil, practice, dedication and discipline to get such honours. And more so for Sakshi Malik, who hails from a conservative society of Haryana where wrestling is a male – dominated sport. Her parents were a pillar of strength who constantly encouraged her against all odds. She started her training as a wrestler from the age of 12 under her coach Ishwar Dahiya who made her practise with boys. What is creditable is that the coach ignored all protests by locals for having taken a girl under his wings in a “sport not meant for girls”.

I would like to end my speech by saying that discipline, focus, determination and confidence can help one achieve anything in life and who has proved this better than our very own Sakshi Malik.

Question 5. Holi is a festival of colours. It expresses pure and simple joy. Sometimes we start throwing coloured water and that too on strangers. As the Head Boy / Girl of your school write a speech in 150 – 200 words that you will deliver in the morning assembly of your school, describing why Holi is played and how it should be played. Answer: Respected Principal, teachers and dear friends.

Today as the Head Girl of your school, I am going to talk about the festival of colours – Holi. This festival is celebrated with a lot of fervour and gaiety all over India in the month of March by all sections of society. It signifies the end of winter, arrival of spring, victory of good over evil, for merry – making and for some, it is also celebrated as a thanksgiving day for a good harvest. This festival expresses pure love and joy.

Friends, an important point that I am going to touch upon is the way it should be played. Play Holi in an eco – friendly manner, use natural colours and play it to the fullest. The idea is not to reduce the fun but to play keeping the environment in mind. Avoid using balloons and plastic bags and as far as possible, play it in a dry way. Many a time, children and adults throw buckets full of water and water-filled balloons on passers-by which can result in someone getting hurt. The idea is to have fun but not at someone’s cost. So, dear friends, let us all remember to play Holi in a joyous, safe, healthy, eco – friendly and in a responsible way to keep the spirit of the festival intact.

Question 6. After the rainy season is over, mosquitoes start breeding. They cause malaria, dengue, chikungunya, etc. These diseases can sometimes prove to be fatal. As Principal of your school you have decided to deliver a speech on protection from mosquitoes. Write that speech in 150 – 200 words. Answer: Dear students. Today I am going to talk to you all on how to protect yourself from mosquitoes in the wake of increase in dengue, malaria and chikungunya cases. These diseases can sometimes prove fatal, especially after the rainy season gets over.

One of the most important things to remember is that mosquitoes need stagnant water to breed. No . water, no reproduction. It means that our effort should be to clean the standing water wMch can prove to be a breeding site and how it can be done. First and foremost, check around faucets, coolers and air – conditioners for any leakage, secondly discard all the tin cans, broken bottles or any other container that can hold water for a long time. Let no puddles be formed in and around your house and school. No overflowing of water tanks should be allowed.

Dear children, I am also going to allow all of you to wear shirts with long sleeves and full pants from tomorrow till further announcements are made. Another important step that you can take is to tell your parents to buy insect repellents that have to be used with care. Students, I end here with the hope that you will follow all the precautions as it is your own health that matters the most.

Question 7. You are Ali/Alia, Head girl/Head boy of your school. You are deeply disturbed by the rising cases of aggressive behaviour of students in your school. You decide to speak during the morning assembly about it. Write a speech on ‘Indiscipline in Schools’. (150 – 200 words) Answer: Respected Principal, dear teachers and students. Today I am going to speak about the rising cases of aggressive behaviour among students in our school.

Indiscipline among students has become so widespread that everyone is criticising them. Teachers accuse that they do not show respect. Parents are dissatisfied with them because they do not get good scores in the examination and waste their time on mobiles, videos, etc. And if we talk to the students we are told that they are angry with the authorities, dissatisfied with their teachers and parents. Every day we come across in newspapers about strikes by students and fighting in schools. Some of these incidents take so ugly a turn that they can be controlled by police only. At times the errant students are sent to a juvenile home due to their aggressive behaviour.

The future of the young generation seems to be gloomy due to the absense of value education. There is absense of a close rapport of the teachers with the students and this is due to overcrowding in the classes, i.e. instead of 20 to 25 students very often schools have 45 to 50 students in each section and as much as 10 sections in each class. This leads to a lack of rapport between teachers and students. At the same time, teachers also need to behave well with the students; they should give their best to the students and treat them like their own wards.

To reduce indiscipline among students, it is the duty of parents, teachers and authorities to sit together and take some useful and appropriate action to save them from getting spoiled. It is very easy for students to get deviant if they are not guided property by their parents and school authorities. Hence, the issue of indiscipline must be tackled on a war footing as students are the hope of the nation.

Question 8. Your PGT English Ms. Geetha is a short story writer also. ‘Sky is not Far’ is a collection of her latest short stories. This book has won a national award. Write a speech in 150 – 200 words you will deliver in her honour in the morning assembly. Answer: Respected Principal, dear teachers and friends.

It is my proud privilege to be standing here today to speak in honour of our dear English teacher Ms. Geetha. She really doesn’t need an introduction but what I am going to say may not be known to the students of the school. She is not only a great English teacher but an excellent writer. Her latest collection of short stories ‘Sky is not Far’ has won her a national award which is commendable. Authoring a book and winning the prestigious national award is no mean feat!

We are all blessed to have her as a teacher who is an inspiration to all students. The school has grabbed headlines in today’s national dailies because of her great achievement and this has made us all so proud.

As an English teacher too, she has amazing communication skills and today if I 3m standing and speaking here in front of you all, the credit goes to her. I am sure that all her other students would echo my sentiments. So, on behalf of all present here, we salute Madam Geetha, the excellent teacher and the author, who has taken our school to great heights. She is an asset to our school.

Question 9. ‘Down to Earth’, an environmental awareness magazine, has launched a marathon ‘Clean Your City Campaign’. As an active participant, write a speech in 150 – 200 words to be read out in the morning assembly urging students to participate in the campaign. Answer: Good morning, Respected Principal, teachers and dear friends. Today I, XYZ, am here to make you all aware of an enthusiastic social campaign. ‘Down to Earth’, an environment awareness magazine, has launched a ‘Clean Your City Campaign’ marathon. This campaign is not like the ordinary campaigns which are full of mob holding posters and slogans This is something different.

It is a marathon which not only urges you to run but also gives you the responsibility to clean your city.

The basic objective behind the marathon is to include more and more people to make our city cleaner and greener in an innovative manner. The marathon will start from the polo ground, Lawrence Road, at 8:00 a.m. and continue till evening. This will cover the maximum portion of the city. The cherry on the cake is that the chief guest is none other than the famous singer, Ayushman Khurana. The Celebes who will cheer up the participants are singer Palak Muchhal, boxer Vijendra Singh and TV actress Saumya. Refreshments would be provided and the marathon will be much fun. All this has a common goal, i.e. cleaning the city and making it a beautiful place.

I expect maximum participation from all of you in making our city better and spreading awareness of Swachh Bharat! Thank you.

Question 10. Corruption is an evil which prevails in each and every nook and cranny of our lives. As president of student council, write a speech, expressing the need to curb this evil immediately. Answer: Good morning, respected Principal, worthy teachers and my dear friends. Today I am going to express my views on the topic; “Corruption an Evil and the Need to Crush it”.

What is corruption? It is basically the act of bribery and fraud for indulging in unfair practices to fulfil personal motives. This evil is present in the society since time immemorial. This evil has gone into each sector and has become a common practice.

What could be the causes for indulging in corruption? These could be lust for power, money and prestige. It is a ladder of success through which people reach the top using undue favours and means and disregarding the regulations and norms. Corruption is rampant in many forms like nepotism, dereliction of duty, wastage of public property, getting admissions.

Corruption is eating into the rights of common man and is harming our image. CWG, Adarsh Society, Chit fund scams all these have been a result of utmost corruption.

Being the youth of the society, we should act fast to make our nation corruption – free. The movement led by Anna Hazare for Jan Lok Pal Bill is one of the biggest movements against corruption in the nation’s history.

Corruption starts from the bottom and reaches the top, thus it needs to be curbed at the ground level.

There should be a monitoring committee with stern vigilance to keep a check on corrupt officials and activities. There should be strict penalty and punishment for the corrupt people. We need to make more and more people aware and raise their voice against corruption.

Question 11. As an active member of Science Club of your school, write a speech in 15(1 – 200 word i on the topic , ‘Advantages of Nuclear Power’. You are Raghav/Ramita of S.P. International school. Answer: Good morning, respected Principal, worthy teachers and my dear friends. It is a matter of great privilege for me, Raghav, that I have got an opportunity to share my view on the ‘Advantages of Nuclear Power’. Atomic energy and technology possess a vast potential to improve the quality of life. Nuclear power is a gift to mankind for fulfilling many of its needs.

With the advent of technology in nuclear power there is a commendable increase in the development in the medical sector. Complex diseases like cancer, leprosy, etc. can be treated using nuclear power, thus saving many lives.

In the field of agriculture and industry, production has increased manifold with the use of nuclear technology. It has helped this sector to progress and prosper a lot. If we talk about defence, the surveillance capacity has improved a lot with the use of this technology. Now we have more weapons and devices operating on this technology. Thus, nuclear power is safeguarding the nation. In the field of ba sic amenitiesj this technology works in the form of reverse osmosis which purifies water and spares us the ill effects of unsafe water. The most important contribution is in the field of power generation. The electricity supply has increased manifold with the advent of nuclear power reactors.

In a nutshell, nuclear power has changed our lives for the better. However, there are some things which need to be taken care of in this regard. It should serve mankind. It should not be used in wars.

2 Minute Speech On Benefits Of Yoga In English

Greetings and very good morning to everyone present. Today on this auspicious day I am going to speak about benefits of yoga. Yoga is a traditional ascetic practise that connects the body and mind. It is a physical activity that involves managing our breath, practising simple meditation, and adopting particular physical postures by balancing the components of our body. Yoga is commonly used to promote physical and mental relaxation as well as good health.

Literally, yoga means “union, to connect or come together.” This union denotes a healthy connection between the body and the mind. Yoga, which is based on universal principles, is also known as the science of achieving harmony between the body and the soul, as well as between rest and activity.

Yoga also helps us to keep our bodies and thoughts under control. Yoga is a fantastic method for letting stress and anxiety out.

Yoga offers several advantages when it is frequently performed. It prevents the majority of ailments from affecting our bodies and thoughts. If people are in congruence, life will be happier, calmer, and more rewarding. Therefore, frequent yoga practise will help you grow a strong and flexible body, lose weight, be at peace, be in good health, look good, and be lovely.

Yoga can improve mental clarity and brain function. One can improve their degree of concentration by doing yoga. Regular practise also helps with the growth of self-control and self-awareness. Thankyou.

Assume you have a superhero power that allows you to remain strong, calm, and happy. Yoga does something similar for us. It’s a kind of magic trick that makes our bodies and minds feel fantastic!

So, first and foremost, yoga isn’t just for adults. Even we kids can do it, and believe me, it’s a lot of fun! It’s like playing a ninja game, except instead of fighting bad guys, you’re fighting stress and worry. Isn’t that great?

The various aspects of yoga. Asanas are a type of yoga posture. It’s just a fancy way of saying the cool poses we do. Like the downward dog, it’s like pretending to stretch like a dog. Or the tree pose, in which you stand tall and strong like a tree.

But yoga is more than just pretending to be a tree or a dog. It also has to do with breathing. Yes, even something as simple as breathing counts! We practice pranayama, which entails taking long, deep breaths. It’s like filling up your energy balloon.

What’s more, guess what? Yoga is beneficial to our bodies in more ways than one. It’s like a brain-boosting secret potion! It improves our concentration, allows us to be more creative, and even makes us nicer to our friends.

Yoga is unique in that it does not require any special equipment or toys. All you need is your body and a small amount of space. It is possible to do it in your room, at the park, or even in your backyard.

So, why should we practice yoga? Aside from making us feel like little superheroes, it’s also good for our health. It keeps our bones and muscles healthy and acts as a superhero shield against illness.

Finally, yoga is a treasure chest full of amazing benefits for our bodies and minds. It’s not just for adults; it’s also for us! So, let us all be yoga superheroes and have a good time while keeping our bodies and minds strong and happy! Thank you for taking the time to listen!

Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed faculty, and my fellow students,

Today, I am honored to share with you the profound benefits and significance of Yoga, an ancient practice that has withstood the test of time and continues to enrich the lives of millions of people all over the world.

Yoga is more than just a physical activity; it is a holistic approach to health that includes the mind, body, and spirit. For The Connected Yoga Teacher Podcast, I am always looking for people to interview. I am also always listening to the struggles that yoga teachers share with me in conversations so that I have more ideas for podcast and live show episodes.

The Yoga Conference offers the perfect place for this.

I was ready, business cards in hand and a full trade show floor of yoga teachers and professionals who work with yoga teachers stretching out in front of me. I dedicated an entire morning to this project and I was still nervous with all of this motivation behind me.

Before You Introduce Yourself

So often people ask us, “What do you do?” and we have a choice right then. We can reply, “I am a yoga teacher.” and leave it at that or we can share our core message in that moment.

Define Your Core Message

Ask yourself a few questions to get into this mindset.

  • What is the purpose of the work that you are doing?
  • What is your yoga offering to the world?
  • Why are you really passionate about this work?
  • What has shaped how you share yoga?
  • Have you been curious about this work for your entire life? If so how?
  • If you had a room of people listening to you for 30 minutes (and you had no fear of public speaking), what would you want to talk to them about so that you could have an impact on how they were living?
  • What do you believe in or stand for?

A great tool for this is in the book “Made to Stick” by Chip and Dan Heath . They call it the three whys and it is designed to get at the emotional core to an idea. In the video I share more on this concept, but here is a quick outline.

  • Write down your yoga offering or idea.
  • Write down why you think this is important in the world.
  • Write down why you think #2 is important.
  • Write down why you think #3 is important.

Create Your Elevator Speech

Let me clarify before we dive into this. I don’t use my elevator speech when I meet people in person. It doesn’t fit into natural conversation in my world. I also don’t have just one elevator speech or way of introducing myself. I let this flow with the setting and the conversation.

Carol Cox of Speaking Your Brand shared an excellent template for creating an elevator speech. It is shown in the image below. This uses all of the principles that we talked about in getting to the core message of your yoga. Who do you work with, what do you help them with and how?

Consider Your Story and Their Story

In the core message we talked about what led you to the yoga that you share. People connect with story. The same is true when we ask questions that draw out someone else’s story. So ask people questions when you meet them. Get really curious.

This is how you get to know your yoga students, (or people in general), what their struggles are and how you can help them. I also don’t mean how we can help as in “fixing” people emotionally and physically with yoga. Sometimes we can help people by telling them about a great physiotherapist or article that is related to what they are asking about. And sometimes the work that we do is what that person is looking for.

Getting Clear on Your Introduction and Core Message is a Marketing Tool

When you want to share your story, your core message and what your yoga sharing is about — this is how you create your social media sites, website, posters and any communication with your students.

If you are faced with a decision on what to say in a poster — you just need to come back to your core message and the what you offer and to whom to choose your words.

Flow and Be Yourself

When you introduce yourself to new people be authentic and talk in a way that feels natural to you. And go with the flow. I talked to a yoga teacher last week who told me that she introduces herself in different ways, depending on who she is talking with. This is especially helpful if you are working as a yoga teacher and you have another career or if you have different areas of focus within teaching.

Continue with this authentic communication within your marketing materials as well.
