Speech on Environment for Students and Children

3 minutes speech on environment.

Good Morning to one and all present here. I am going to present a short speech on Environment. Our environment consists of all living beings as well as their surroundings. A healthy environment is one that is sustainable for a long period of time. It is the source of life for everyone. It directs the life of everyone and determines the proper growth and development.

Speech on environment

The good or bad quality of our life is depending on the quality of our natural environment. Our need for food, water, shelter, and other things depends on the environment around us. There must be a balanced natural cycle that exists between the environment and the lives of human beings, plants, and animals.

Human society is playing a vital role in degenerating the natural environment which is affecting badly the lives on this planet. All the human actions in this modern world directly impact our ecosystem.  Many actions of us have brought big changes to this planet, resulting in many environmental problems. Increasing demand for technologies and industries is another important factor.

Various Environmental Issues

There are many harmful effects of human activities on the environment. Some of these are pollution, over-population, waste disposal, climate change, global warming, and the greenhouse effect, etc. The big reason that poses a serious threat to our environment is the harmful gases in the air.

The uncontrolled use of automobiles has increased their effects, which in turn emits harmful gases like Carbon monoxide. The electronic appliances like air conditioners and refrigerators also contaminating air by the discharge of harmful substances. The diverse effect of these gases is causing air pollution as well as global warming.

Read Speech on Global Warming here.

Deforestation is another major reason. The human population is increasing at a fast rate and therefore to meet their daily consumption we need to cut forests and trees. It may be for home or for fuel, but we are causing great loss to the environment.

Other factors are the depletion of natural resources like water, fuel, and food. On the other hand over-consumption of resources by humans and improper waste disposal have resulted in a huge quantity of solid and hazardous wastes. These wastes are other threats to the environment.

Solutions of the Problems of our Environment

Due to all the above human activities, our planet has reached unsustainable levels. Therefore, it is our duty and responsibility to lower the loss. Every individual can play a significant role in this solution.

For example, we should take a pledge to say ‘No’ to plastics. Instead of it, we may make use of Eco-friendly substitutes like paper and cloth bags.

The government of every country must implement strict laws for industries, those are releasing the toxic wastes for proper waste management. The awareness programs should be organized to encourage citizens to use public transport as much as possible.

Also, everyone must do plantation of trees. The less use of private vehicles will reduce the emission of harmful gases as well will save fuel resources.

In the end, I want to say that we must spread environmental awareness in our society as well as in our daily routine life. It is necessary to save and protect our environment. In my view, it is the responsibility of everyone to do our bit for the environment. Therefore, let us work together towards a greener and more sustainable future.

Save Environment Speech For Students

Speech on Save Environment is an important topic for students. Students can avail a well-written speech on the topic ‘save environment speech’ and learn how to write the speech that will impress the audience.

Long Speech

Good morning to one and all present here. I am glad to be given the opportunity to present a speech on Save Environment. Our environment is where we live. There must be harmony between the environment and living beings. In the present scenario, due to overpopulation, the environment is under distress. The situation is alarming as our natural environment is overexploited to meet human needs. It is because of many human activities that we are not able to maintain a healthy balance with nature.

The threat we are facing includes manmade disasters and global warming. These threats are real and have raised an alarming situation. We need to come together to save our environment. This speech on saving nature throws light on why it is needed by mankind to protect and preserve the environment. Our environment offers everything from clothing, water, food to shelter. All living beings are a part of the ecosystem. Hence, it becomes our responsibility to take care of the natural habitat.

Environmental pollution is one of the biggest issues that the modern world faces today. To meet the wants of society, we are putting too much pressure on the natural environment. This leads to damage to nature. The soil is losing its fertility, and in most places, soil pollution makes it difficult to grow crops. Even air and water pollution is the effect of mass urbanization and industrialisation. Controlling the pollution is a need of the hour, however, this still gets neglected by us. I am delivering the speech to save the earth to make you aware of what can be done by each one of us sitting here. We can make our earth a better place to live by taking simple steps like planting a tree, throwing waste in proper bins, saying no to plastic bags, etc. Rather than complaining about pollution, such small steps must be taken to make our environment sustainable.

Environmental problems are also the result of vast technological advancements in the last few years. The overuse of resources to build IT infrastructure is responsible for the loss of the natural environment. Government and international organizations must take proper steps to control pollution and save our mother earth. Environmental protection policies must be strictly enforced. Everyone has to come together to save our mother nature.

Saving our environment is much more important today than ever before. The degrading quality of earth life is what we all are familiar with. However, the early signs of the upcoming destruction are visible. The harsh weather conditions, increased carbon dioxide emissions, melting of glaciers, etc. are the major concerns that needed immediate attention. Let us all do what we can to save our environment and preserve our resources for future generations.

Short Speech

Good morning to all. Today, I am going to give a short speech on saving the environment. We are all aware of how the environment is important to us. We cannot afford to harm the environment any longer. In today’s modern world, our planet earth is affected significantly. However, if we want to live in harmony with nature, we cannot put the entire pressure on the environment. Living beings, for their survival, depend completely on the natural and manmade environment. It is impossible to live without the resources that the atmosphere provides. In such a situation, it becomes critical to save mother nature from getting over-exploited due to the increasing population.

We all know that factors like overpopulation, deforestation, etc. are responsible for environmental destruction. Small steps taken by us can go a long way. We must try to use as much public transport as possible to protect the air we breathe. We must throw garbage in the right bins so that proper disposal of waste and waste management can be done. We need to make efforts in the right direction to conserve our natural resources and habitat. Some of the ways by which we can achieve this are to use renewable energy, avoid plastic bags, plant more trees etc.

Mother nature offers so much to us. We must protect the environment and nature and be a part of sustainable development programmes.

10 Lines Speech

A heartfelt welcome to each one present here. I am here to deliver a speech on saving the environment and saving a life. It is no hidden fact that our environment is affected largely due to human activities. It is facing a threat at an alarming rate. We have over-exploited nature due to our greed. This has caused a natural imbalance. However, we can still do something and protect our environment from all the damages. We must plant more and more trees, throw garbage in the dustbins, avoid using plastic bags, etc. It cannot be denied that our natural environment is such an important part of our ecosystem. It is important to educate people about how the environment is getting damaged. Then only we can have green earth to live in.

Main Causes of Environmental Degradation

Pollution, in any form, is destructive to the environment, whether it be in the form of air, water, land, or noise.

Rapid population increase limits natural resources, resulting in environmental degradation.

Increasing population equals more need for food, clothing, and housing. More land is needed to grow food and provide housing for people. Deforestation occurs, as a result, contributing to environmental degradation.

Deforestation is also caused by using forest areas for agriculture, livestock grazing, fuelwood harvesting, and logging. When forest size decreases, deforestation contributes to global warming by releasing carbon into the atmosphere.

The exhaust gas released by industries is one of the primary sources of pollution. Lead is found in large concentrations in the environment due to a range of substances such as gasoline, paints, ceramics, and batteries.

In recent years, there has been a massive increase in the number of private vehicles. The higher the number of cars, the higher the rate of pollution that causes smog. Lower-level ozone, which is detrimental, is caused by hydrocarbons emitted by engines.

Speech on plant trees, saving mother earth is important for students as it will make them aware of how to use natural resources and how a healthy balance can be maintained between the environment and human life.

1. Tips to Remember Before You Write your Speech

Crafting a movie requires the crew to plan everything with utmost precision and that’s exactly where the pre-production stage comes to play.

Likewise, before drafting a speech on the environment, you need to focus upon a few things to enhance the speech’s impact on your audience.

At the same time, these tips will help you to stand out in the crowd.

A) Understanding your True Purpose

know your true purpose as a speaker

You possibly cannot deliver a speech about the environment without feeling deeply about the issue.

Firstly, start by questioning yourself, ‘Why should I be concerned about  our environment ?’

Now, start looking for even the slightest changes in your lifestyle in terms of the environment.

These changes can be as evident as the scarcity of water and as ignored as the less appreciation of nature by humans.

This will provide you with the reasons as to how is the issue affecting you?

These reasons can be listed by you during the course of your speech to establish trust, credibility and relatability factor.

Get yourself aware of the urgency of the situation

Go on the internet, research the issue at hand and make yourself aware of the worst-case scenario, that is, ‘what would happen if human beings do not respond now?’

This way, you will connect with the issue emotionally and this will reflect in your voice as you deliver your speech.

You simply cannot expect your audience to feel deeply about the issue unless you yourself feel that emotional connect.

Because somewhere down the corner, we all are responsible for environmental degradation in our own ways.

This realization must first hit you before you convey this idea through your speech.

This emotional connect will reflect in the form of:

  • the content of your speech
  • vocal variety
  • body language

B) Brainstorming Session

mind mapping technique

A speech as informative as this needs to have right facts in just the right amount and at the right places.

The major issue with most of the environmental speeches is that the right facts are not incorporated in the right way.

  • So, begin with researching the issue and note down the environmental facts.
  • Prepare a mind map to better organize your thoughts . Jot down the main points and make a rough skeleton of your speech.
  • Once you have done this, try thinking from an audiences’ perspective . Ask yourself, ‘If I were the audience, what would be my expectations from a speech about the environment?’ Note down those thoughts as well.

Try not to be generic while doing the brainstorming session, include the pointers other speakers have missed out on.

In order to stand unique as an orator speaking about the environment, one must learn from the mistakes made by other speakers.

Understand what exactly is your audience looking for and frame your speech accordingly.

We have written an article on How to add facts in a speech? Check it out to balance your speech about the environment with just the right facts.

Understand the demographics of your audience, like age and level of education, to mold your speech accordingly.

For instance, if you are delivering a speech about the environment at school, you might want to include less jargon and break down the content in a much simpler way for the students to understand.

Similarly, if you are delivering an environmental speech at a workplace, you can incorporate jargon along with relatable lifestyle experiences to convey your ideas better.

Thus, try to keep your speech short and precise without falling into the trap of possible digressions.

A) Out-Of-The-World Title

A speech about the environment can create a certain monotony in the minds of the audience, even before you actually deliver it.

As an audience, we expect that monotony in the environmental speeches.

Thus, a boring speech title can bore your audience to sleep.

Many a times, we stumble upon a speech title we haven’t ever heard of and are naturally drawn to know more about the speech.

The major issue with most of the environmental speeches in current times is a boring title. Titles like  Speech on Save Environment and Speech on Environmental Degradation  can seem pretty daunting to the audience and might disinterest them.

Instead, consider having a thought-provoking title that doesn’t give the speech idea away so that when the audience actually listens to your speech, they pay more attention and start connecting the dots.

This way, something unusual yet related to your speech can assist you to hold the attention of your audience.

Let’s look at a few interesting speech titles. All based on the environment!

Admit it, we’ve grown old reading that water is an essential pre-requisite for the crops to survive and grow.

But, what happens when a speech title tells you otherwise? You obviously get drawn to listen to the speech.

I’m sure after reading this speech title, you are now wondering, ‘which country is she talking about?’

So, the moment you come across a speech title like this, a sense of conflict has been created in your mind and you naturally want to know more about it.

B) Catchy Introduction

A catchy introduction begins with a strong opening line while bringing into light the main idea of the speech.

The attention span of the audience is at its peak at the beginning of a speech. So, now that you know this, make sure you capitalize it!

Instead of starting your speech with something as bland as a  Good Morning , attempt hitting new approaches to grip the attention of the audience throughout the speech.

The last thing a speech topic as common as the environment needs is a bland introduction.

Thus, working on a strong beginning is the most crucial element when it comes to speech writing about environment.

Here are a few interesting ways to jump start your speech:

Start with a story

We all love listening to stories! Be it fictional or real . It’s a personality trait which we all share in common.

You can start your speech on the environment with a story inspired from your own personal experience or you can create your own story.

But, remember even while creating a story from scratch, you need to sound realistic and establish relatability . So, it’s ideal to avoid any sort of exaggeration on your part.

Bringing the Element of Creativity

Use of adequate props and placards can assist you to add real value to the audiences’ experiences, particularly in a speech about the environment.

Think out-of-the-box and bring this element of creativity the next time you deliver a speech.

By bringing this visual element, you make your speech all the more memorable.

Let’s understand this better with the help of an example.

In this TED Talk about the environment, the orator decides to begin her speech by bringing a small jar. Have a look at how well she connects this prop with the essence of her speech.

C) Relatable Anecdotes

Well, what is the point of delivering a great speech if your audience can’t relate to it?

By stating relatable life experiences, you sound more realistic and believable . As a result, the audience starts respecting your thoughts.

For instance, while delivering a speech about environmental problems and solutions, start discussing how the environmental problems have affected you and your family and what solutions you are considering to deal with it.

Essentially, convey these anecdotes in the form of a story and make sure that these anecdotes are relatable.

D) Body of the speech

Here lies the main purpose of your speech!

It is at this point that you start supporting your ideas with relevant facts and evidence .

In this case, while delivering a speech about the environment, be aware of the real purpose of your speech.

If your speech about the environment is required to list down the solutions to save the environment, try leading the solutions with the micro-level steps which we all can practice in our day-to-day lives and then move onto the solutions at a community level.

Because the major flaw with most of the environmental speeches is that we focus a lot more upon the changes at a government level rather than bringing into light the changes at the individual and community level.

It all begins at home and then the awareness is spread at a community level.

Steer clear of stating the obvious while citing supporting shreds of evidence and think innovatively to come up with information that can actually add value to audiences’ experiences.

E) Drafting a Memorable Conclusion

A captivating conclusion keeps your speech alive in the minds of the audience.

First things first, avoid ending your speech with a bland ‘thank you’.

Instead, in the concluding statement, sum up the gist of your speech and provide the audience with a key takeaway.

To maximize the impact of your concluding remarks, end your speech with a poem or an intriguing question, and leave your audience awestruck by providing them with something to ponder upon.

Check this article to learn effective ways to end your speech with maximum impact.

F) Set the Right Mood

Setting the right tone of the speech is extremely crucial.

This way, you guide your audience to perceive your thoughts in just the intended manner.

You can set the right tone with the help of effective body language , facial expressions and voice modulation.

For instance, while delivering a speech about the environment which demands you to cite the solutions, a sense of hope must be reflected throughout the course of your speech. You can achieve this by sounding optimistic in your voice and having open body language.

In a similar fashion, a speech about the environmental problems would require you to sound empathetic in your voice.

3. Drawing Inspiration from ‘Great Speeches on the Environment’

Saving the environment from consumerism.

How to save Earth with 5 minutes a day of responsible consumerism

Why We Need to Think Differently About Sustainability

4. A Sample Speech on the Environment

“Why should I be studying for a future that soon may be no more, when no one is doing anything to save that future?”, asked Greta Thunberg, and I’m sure we all are in search of an answer to this question, more so in these unprecedented times when the entire world is at a standstill. Environmental depletion, a term we take so lightly, has been increasing with each year passing by. This year (2020 as of writing), Earth Overshoot Day was observed on August 22, exhausting nature’s budget for the year in just seven months. Even as I speak and you listen to this speech, The residents of Goa are raising their voices against an infrastructure plan which is all set to cut through Mollem National Park and destroy the habitat of thousands of animals. Even as I speak, 10,000 clothing items are being sent to landfills every 5 minutes. All because of Fast Fashion! Even as I speak, more than 80 percent of the world population is living under light-polluted skies. All because of light pollution!  And, when we actually reflect upon all of these things, there’s no one to blame but us.  Yet, we choose to remain silent.  So, I ask you today,   Why are we silent? Why don’t we care about the planet we live on?  I believe that by choosing to remain silent over the environmental issues, we are doing a disgrace to the very act of humanity.  Ain’t we ought to save this environment while we still can?  I know that since time immemorial, we have grown up learning about sustainability. In the most literal sense, we PREACH sustainability. But when it comes to bringing that into practice, our values shy away.  All of a sudden, we start to run short of time. You know why? The reason is we don’t appreciate our environment, anymore. And, that’s the root cause that is holding us back in the pathway towards sustainability.  I still remember when I was 10 years old, my father and I had this really nice ritual of going to the park for evening walks. Back then, it just didn’t matter what headspace we’re in, the air of calmness that surrounded the park would just put us at ease. It was THAT therapeutic!   But, coming back to this so-called modern mechanized era, we’ve parted our ways with this ritual. Now, in these times, even the thought of going to a park sounds cliché to all of us!   We need to learn to appreciate, nurture, and love our environment in order to save it. Because it all begins at home! You and I CAN make the difference and now is the time to inculcate sustainable lifestyle habits. The first step here can be as simple as cutting down the waste we produce in the environment. Be it in terms of buying packaged fruits and vegetables from a farmers’ market or making the area you live in litter-free. Moving ahead, the next step might sound a bit difficult because let’s face it- We ALL love shopping! But, when it comes to leading a sustainable lifestyle, minimalism is the key. Start prioritizing every single time you shop for something. When you do this, you value things you own and don’t end up wasting so much.  Gladly, to our relief, the world isn’t that pessimistic. In this age of globalization, we now have people as ‘environmental influencers’ initiating a call for action. Let’s shower our love and support towards them by drawing inspiration from them.  Therefore, I now say,  Let’s pledge to align our values and actions.  Let’s pledge to spend more time in nature.  And most important of all, let’s pledge to save this planet while we are on this planet.

Speech On Environment

As global citizens, we all have a responsibility to be good stewards of the planet we call home. Our natural resources are precious and limited. If we don’t make changes now to live more sustainably, future generations will pay the price.

The decisions we make today will have lasting impacts for decades to come. In this speech on the environment, we describe the environment and the problems associated with it.

Speech No.1: Speech On Environment

Good morning

Respected principal, teachers, and my dear school fellows.

I’m here today to speak about the environment. As is common knowledge, the environment is the fundamental setting in which we live.

In general, we should say that the environment refers to the natural setting in which we are living.

The environment is made up of all the elements of nature, including air, water, sunlight, moonlight, trees, and people. To live healthily, everyone needs a healthy atmosphere. It aids in the appropriate growth and development of our lives. Between the environment and all living things, including people and animals, there is a natural cycle. A significant part of the cycle of natural environmental conditions is played by human activities.

The true value of the environment is something we simply cannot comprehend. To better understand it, we can make some educated assumptions regarding its significance. It is essential for maintaining the well-being of all living organisms in the environment. And it preserves the ecological balance necessary to control life on Earth. It satisfies all of the needs of humans, no matter how tiny or great, by providing food, shelter, and air.

In addition, everything that keeps humans alive depends entirely on environmental variables. It also helps maintain the numerous life cycles on the planet. Most significantly, our environment is the wellspring of all that is beautiful about nature and is essential to preserving both our bodily and emotional well-being.

However, there are some issues too; can anyone point them out?

So as a result of increased air, noise, and environmental pollution, as well as deforestation, acid rain, water pollution, soil pollution, and other dangerous natural disasters brought on by human progress in technology, our environment is now being negatively impacted to a great extent.

However, given the rate at which we are harming the environment, things could change too quickly, and there might not be time for a fix.

Fish and other marine species are already in danger of extinction due to the oceans’ depletion of marine oxygen. Climate change and nutrient pollution are the causes of the decrease in ocean oxygen levels. Climate change is mostly a result of human activity, and it poses a threat to the entire environment. These changes are likely alarm signals warning mankind of the environmental harm they cause. It would be pointless to even consider any type of life on earth without a clean and secure environment.

India’s government has unveiled the Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE) initiative. But altering our way of life is not simple. Our routines are profoundly established, and many aspects of our surroundings constantly reinforce them. It’s not always simple to turn our intentions of helping the environment into deeds. It’s not impossible, though. We may alter our way of life and develop enduring environmentally friendly habits by taking one step at a time and making one change every day.

According to studies, practicing a behavior for at least 21 days can help it become a habit.

Although the environment is self-sustaining and capable of recovering from harm, a lot depends on how humans handle it. We will receive from the environment in the same manner that we treat it. The message is crystal clear: take care of the environment, and it will reward you. Mistreat it, and be ready to receive mistreatment in return.

To ensure that our natural environment remains safe as normal forever, we must all collectively take a pledge to defend it.

Thank you

Speech No. 2: 2 Minute Speech on Environment For Kids

  • Speaker: Primary School Students
  • Audience: Students, Teachers, General Publi c

Good Morning My Friends and Teacher,

I am (Self Intro)…

Every day we listen to the ‘environment’.

You have a question in your mind ‘What is the Environment’ right?

Today I am here to speak for 2 Minutes on the environment.

The environment is everything around us. This includes the air we breathe, the water we drink, the land we walk on, and all the plants and animals that live with us. It’s like a big house for all living things!

Taking care of the environment is extremely important as it helps us to be healthy and happy. When we keep the air clean, we can breathe easily and do not fall sick. When we conserve water, we can drink it without any worry. And while we take care of the land, we can play and grow delicious food.

But sometimes, people do things that can harm the environment, like littering the ground or using a lot of electricity. When we do these things, it can pollute the air, water, and land and also harm animals and plants.

We can all be superheroes for the environment by doing small things every day. Like picking up the garbage and putting it in the dustbin, turning off the lights when not needed, and using less plastic. We can also plant trees and take care of them so that they give us fresh air to breathe.

Remember, we only have one Earth, so let’s be kind to our environment and help keep it clean and beautiful for ourselves and for all the wonderful creatures that live here with us!

Environment Speech in English for Students

August 2, 2021 by Sandeep

Speech on Environment: World Environment Day is celebrated on 5th June every year since 1947. We have to protect our environment and natural resources and keep our earth, safe, clean and green. Balance in our ecosystem improves the quality of life and makes the earth a better place to live. Pollution, natural calamities and global warming have disturbed the delicate balance in the environment. By conserving resources, reducing pollution, planting more trees and recycling wastes, we can protect our environment.

Speech on Environment 500 Words in English

Below we have provided Save Environment Speech in English, written in easy and simple words for classes 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12. Students who are participating in a speech writing competition can use this environmental speech topic for their reference.

“The environment is where we all meet; where we all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share.” Said by Lady Bird Johnson. I am glad that we are discussing such a vital topic in our lives. Very good morning to everyone over here, respected teachers & my fellow friends. It feels a privilege that I am given a chance to deliver my speech on the topic ‘environment.’

The environment is the source of every life. The natural environment around us in which we breathe, sleep, eat, do work is the need of every living being on this planet. We all are dependent on this environment for food, shelter, water, oxygen etc. But over the years, the balance between nature & living beings has been misbalanced & human society has played a vital role in degrading the environment. It has impacted all the life forms on the earth.

Mother earth has given us unique gifts like rivers, biodiversity, mountains, flora & fauna. It has never stopped amazing us. Sadly there is no part of this beautiful earth which has not been contaminated by human beings. Some of the prevalent environmental problems trending these days are pollution, global warming , depleting underground water, increase in sea level, overexploitation of natural resources, diminishing forests, loss of biodiversity, extinction of species, climatic misbalance, melting of polar ice, ozone layer depletion & many more like this.

We all are aware of these, which is leading us to a deteriorating situation every day. One of the major cause is the population explosion which is leading to the exploitation of natural resources. Due to the growing demand, the invention & usage of technology is increasing rapidly so as the manufacturing, mining etc. The modern technologies have affected the environment in a degree which cannot be imagined.

Now knowing that all of we have done the damage, it is our responsibility to take steps to protect the mother earth. I am sure each one of us wants to save the environment, but saving the environment is not only respecting the government policies. It will be visible when we start taking care of our immediate environment. Though the problem is aggravated to many folds, every problem does have a solution.

Let’s do a pledge today to restore the natural balance. Each one of us must plant a tree every year. We must ensure that we are recycling the plastic wastes instead of throwing them like a shopping bag, water bottles, etc. Coming to school by cycle & walking must be ensured whenever possible instead of using a car, bikes & buses.

We all must ensure to keep our surrounding neat & clean. Everything starts with us, let’s make a better tomorrow. We must remember that nothing is impossible. It’s just that we need to keep faith in ourselves & do something for our planet. Save the planet; Save a life.

Short Speech on Environment 200 Words

Below we have provided 2 minute speech on environment, suitable for class 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 students.

Good morning to everyone present over here. Respected teachers & my dear friends. I am happy to speak on one of my favourite topic, i.e. the Environment. The environment has always amazed me in various ways, let it the mountains, rivers, birds, animals, ocean, forests many more. This speech will go on if I discuss the bountiful things nature has gifted us. It has been quoted by Aristotle that “In all things of nature, there is something of the marvellous.”

But we the humans have adversely affected the balance between the environment & life on earth. Growing population, the growing demand & modern technologies has demarcated a wall between us & nature. The natural cycle has been disturbed. We have caused great pain to our mother earth with our activities. We have polluted the air breathe in, the water without which life is not possible, the soil which supports the life on the planet.

Humans have destroyed almost all parts of the earth. The consequences of the misbalance are not acceptable, which has resulted in havoc on earth. Global warming, climatic misbalance, rising temperature, rising sea level, extinction of species & many more. So let’s ask ourselves one question today, what have I done to save my mother earth? If you are already contributed for the cause, then pat yourself that you are already on it. It is the responsibility of all of us to do our part for our planet.

Let’s pledge to protect the environment we see around us. Minimal steps like planting a tree in a year also make a tremendous difference to the environment. Using paper bags instead of plastic will be another impacting step. Let’s incorporate those practices in our lives, which will make the earth a better place to live in. It is our responsibility to save the environment. Save the Environment, and you will Save Life and Future.

1-Minute Speech on Environmental Awareness

‘Good morning to everyone present her. Today, I stand before you to present my speech on environmental awareness. Environment refers to the world around us. If we have to keep ourselves safe, we must keep our environment safe. Therefore, environmental awareness is an important topic and we must take our decision in the right direction.

Overpopulation, degradation of the natural environment, pollution of rivers and water bodies, deforestation, etc. are major factors affecting our natural environment. Nature is paying the price of careless human activities.

From individuals to large organizations,  everyone must work hand in hand to enact and enforce policies that prioritize environmental sustainability. Using public transport can help reduce air pollution. Using the blue dustbin for dry waste and the green dustbin for wet waste can help in waste management. Avoiding single-use plastics, switching off appliances when not in use, using renewable energy like solar and wind energy, and planting more trees can greatly improve environmental health.’

‘So let’s take care of our mother nature and work on a greener, healthier, and sustainable environment because our environment’s health is our health.’

2-Minute Speech on Environmental Awareness

‘Good morning my teacher and my friends. Today, I stand before you to present my speech on environmental awareness. We only have one home; our environment. Yet, we are damaging it at an alarming rate. According to a report released by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), 881 animal species have gone extinct since 1900.’

‘Environment awareness is important because it helps us understand the current state of the environment, including the causes and consequences of environmental problems, is fundamental to environmental awareness.’

‘The environment is losing its natural strength. The average surface temperature is rising, trees are cut down, animal habitats are lost, and smoke is released into the air and water bodies. Our environment has gifted us with everything we needed; food, clothes, shelter, etc. Yet, today, we are the biggest threat to the natural environment. It is all because of our careless attitude towards Mother Nature.’

‘Taking care of our natural environment is our primary responsibility. Small steps like banning single-use plastics, switching off-lights appliances when not in use, closing water taps, etc. Also, adopting sustainable practices in daily life, such as reducing waste, conserving energy, using eco-friendly products, and supporting environmentally friendly initiatives can significantly improve environmental health.’

In 2019, the government of India banned single-use plastics like polyethylene bags and plastic bottles. Experts suggest that instead of using plastic bags, we can look for alternatives and eco-friendly options like paper bags or jute bags.

‘In the end, I would like to conclude by saying that adapting to environmentally friendly activities should be our top-most priority. By polluting the air that we breathe, water that we drink, and food that we eat, we are not only damaging the environment but our health too.’

Long and Short Speech on Environment in English

Environment speech 1.

Good Morning Principal, Teachers, and My Dear Friends!

As of today, the whole school has been assembled here for this beautiful occasion of World Environment Day, which is celebrated on 5 th June every year; I would like to say a few words dedicated to the environment.

The environment is the surroundings made from five elements: Air, Water, Land, Sky, and Fire for us to flourish. It has always been said that only earth has the most favorable climatic conditions to help us survive. We should be very grateful to the earth that we have been provided with such a great environment with everything in its nature that helps us thrive. But day by day, we are ruining it on the highest pitch that will eventually lead us towards our destruction.

We should understand the importance of the natural environment, try to deduce our non-eco-friendly activities, and imperatively plant as many trees as possible and save water, which are the two biggest issues.

Thank you, and have a nice day!

Take free test

Environment Speech 2

Hon’ble Principal, Teachers, and My Dear Friends!

As this special assembly has been called to address the biggest issue these days regarding our environment, I would like to express my views on it. The world has recognized that our environment is not as it was before. Drastic changes have occurred in a few years, such as climatic changes, increment in natural disasters, etc., all due to our changing lifestyle.

Our environment consists of 5 elements- Air, Water, Land, Fire, and Sky and we have disturbed the process of the entire ecosystem by cutting the vast amount of trees that contribute the most to balancing the environmental cycle, installment of large polluting industries, hunting/poaching of animals leading towards their endangerment, etc.

Out of this, the question arises what kind of future we want or what kind of future we will hand over to our next generations? Is this the kind of development we all have dreamt about? Walking with a mask on our faces, struggling in floods and earthquakes, destruction of animals who aren’t even aware of what’s happening.

Now, this is high time we need to recognize the importance of our natural environment and try every possible action towards saving it, from saving water to planting trees.

Environment Speech 3

Good morning to the Excellencies, my respected teachers, and my dear friends. The topic of my speech is Environment. The environment is the surrounding in which we live. It is the source of life. Our whole life is dependent on the environment. It directs our life and determines our proper growth and development.

The good or bad quality of social life depends on our natural environment. Human beings need food, water, shelter, and other things depending on their environment. A balanced natural cycle exists between the environment and the lives of humans, plants, and animals. Human society plays a vital role in degenerating the natural environment, negatively affecting this planet’s lives. All the human actions in this modern world directly impact the whole ecosystem.

All the actions have brought a big change to this planet, resulting in many environmental problems. The increasing demand for technologies and industries in modern times impacts nature. The growing invention for new technologies has changed the interaction of people with an environment, which permits more populations to grow.

Modern technologies have immense power and have altered the whole environment in an unimagined way. The indiscriminate use of the environment is the root of the ecological crisis. Such continuous increases in technologies and human behavior are correspondingly very serious. Such amazing technologies became the reason for economic growth in the 20 th century; however, they dramatically affected natural resources.

Environmental problems include rapid growth in world population, deteriorating natural resources, diminishing forests and wetlands, erosion of soil and coral reefs, depleting underground water, regular shortage of fresh drinking water, vanishing plants, and salinization in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Some other issues are loss of biodiversity, rapid extinction of some important animal species, collapse of fisheries, rising air and water pollution, rise in atmospheric temperature, thinning of ozone layer, spoiling rivers, seas and underground resources.

Even though science and technology have radically altered the terms of adaptation to the nature, we still need to adapt to the environment. Human society is embedded in an environment. We must not forget that the human being is first and foremost an animal, sharing living space with other animal species in an environment on which they are mutually dependent. It is our responsibility to save our environment and earth and make the possibility of healthy and happy life here.

Environment Speech 4

Good morning to the Excellencies, my respected teachers, and my dear friends. As we have gathered here to celebrate this occasion, I would like to speech over Environment. To run life in a healthy, happy way, we all need a healthy and natural environment. Continuously increasing the human population adversely affects the forests. Human beings are cutting forests to a great extent to make their home live securely; however, they do not think of the problems arising from the lack of forests.

It completely disturbs the natural cycle between the environment and life on the earth. Because of the over-population, the number of various chemical elements is increasing in the atmosphere which ultimately causes irregular rainfall and global warming. We cannot imagine the negative effects of global warming on the climate and the lives of human beings and other living species.

According to the research, it is found that the perennial snow mountains of Tibet were covered by thick snow in the past; however, those thick snows are getting very thin day by day over the last few decades because of global warming. Such a condition is a very dangerous situation and an indication of the end of life on earth, which needs to be taken very seriously by all countries worldwide. It is very true that climate change goes very slow; the however, slow continuous process is very dangerous.

Because of the regular changes in the environment physical structure of human beings and other living species has been changed from generation to generation. Increasing human population needs more land for agricultural cultivation and living purpose, which force them to cut more trees and forests, so deforestation has its dangerous side effects.

The increasing the level of industrialization has countless harmful effects on the atmosphere because of the poisonous chemical emissions and dangerous waste drainage in the big water resources such as the Yamuna, Ganga, and other rivers. The ever-changing (negatively) environment is not the issue of only some countries or government; it is the issue of whole human fraternity because we all are the reason of this negatively declining environment, so we all are responsible to save our natural environment for the healthy survival of life on the earth.

Protecting the atmosphere is a matter of high importance for all the present and future generations of mankind. The main purpose of my speech today over the environment is only to increase the public awareness among common people about the reasons of declining environment as well as need of healthy and natural environment for the life on earth. So, it is my humble request to all of you that you please contribute to saving your environment.

Take free test

Environment Speech 5

Good morning to my respected teachers and my dear friends. As we have gathered here to celebrate this occasion, I would like to give a speech on the Environment to increase awareness among the public about the negatively changing environment. An environment is the natural surrounding which covers and protects us from the natural disasters.

However, our healthy and natural environment is getting worse daily and taking the form of demons affecting everything from non-living to living being we know is two types of environ: natural environment and built environment. The natural environment is one that exists naturally, and the one for which man is responsible such as cities etc., is called the built environment. There are many natural and unnatural factors polluting the whole natural atmosphere.

Some of the natural factors like volcanoes, floods, etc. are the reasons for the declining environment. However, manmade reasons are more rampant caused due to reckless and caustic human nature are highly responsible for the environmental pollution. Self centred human activities are highly responsible for the destruction of the environment. Other environmental threats like forest degradation, global warming, pollution, etc. are the reasons for environmental degradation. Continuous increasing temperature of the earth’s surface in the atmosphere because of the many human-made and natural means calls to the various natural calamities causing disturbance to a great extent to the healthy and common life of human and all other living beings.

Our natural environment has become hugely changed in the last few decades and has taken the form of a big and powerful demon affecting the lives of people every single moment. Nature has made everything to run in balance with the natural cycle however many factors causes environmental corrosion. The factors like population growth and economic advancement are considered as the major factors giving rise to many other secondary factors.

We must understand the importance of ecological balance and try our best to run it naturally to prevent the effects of environmental disasters and promote a a healthy environment. We should promote common public in our surroundings for a clean and green environment to prove the meaning of proverbs life “won’t have a society if we destroy the environment.”

Environment Speech 6

Hi all, I would like to say good morning to the Excellencies, respected teachers, and my dear friends. As we all know that we have gathered here to celebrate this auspicious occasion, I would like to speak over the environment of our continuously declining environment so that we all together can be successful in saving our environment by taking some effective steps. As we know that we live on the planet of the earth, having different types of surroundings called environments within which we can eat healthily, breathe freshly, and live safely.

However, what happens to our lives if any means of natural or manmade causes of environment degradation occurs? We cannot imagine the extent of loss to the human and other living beings’ existence. The ecology balance and natural cycles has become disturbed which is very hard to bring back and give it a natural shape. However, there is a common “saying that “prevention is better than cure,” so we never get tired of trying our best to save the environment.

The physical environment on this planet provides all of us a favorable required condition and supports the existence and growth of various forms of life The nature provides natural or physical environment however all forms of the living beings together constitute another environment called biological environment. Both environments are closely connected and make a unique natural system for the life survival. If the biological environment gets disturbed, the physical environment automatically gets disturbed, and both hugely affect human lives together.

Another environment that is completely dependent on human is the socio-cultural environment made by human beings. Whatever environment is, it must be healthy, safe and secure to continue the evergreen life on the earth in present and future.

We should realize our mistakes and concern about the environment in order to keep it clean, safe and secure for a healthy life. Many human activities like deforestation, industrialization, technological improvements, and so many others are leading our environment towards danger and keeping lives at risk by influencing the growth, development, and survival of all organisms.

Various types of environmental pollution, such as water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution, soil pollution, etc., are disturbing the ecosystem and causing a variety of health hazards to human beings and animals. Environmental pollution damages the ecosystem and destroying the delicate balance of the natural ecosystem. So, nowadays environmental pollution is a matter of great concern and consideration for which we all together follow some effective steps and carry on until problems get solved completely.

4 Minute Speech on Environment In English

A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of ‘Environment’.

Google defines the environment to be “the surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates.”

Meanwhile, Wikipedia further sheds light on the term as follows: “The natural environment or natural world encompasses all living and non-living things occurring naturally, meaning in this case not artificial. The term is most often applied to the Earth or some parts of Earth.”

Environment, thus, encompasses both living and non-living elements within it. Textbooks, in fact, decree it is their ‘sum total’.

Broadly, the environment can be classified into various types. Firstly, it can be divided into the atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere and biosphere. Secondly, it can be divided into 2 types: macro environment and micro environment. Macro environment refers to the immediate, local surroundings of an organism wherein micro environment refers to the external conditions that affect an organism.

Thirdly, it can be divided into the biotic and abiotic environment, which, as already mentioned, is the living and the non-living things.

Now, why is our environment considered important? Or more importantly, why is the conservation of environment given much importance?

Firstly, without the environment, there would be no renewable and non-renewable resources, which our lives are impossible to live without. Secondly, the environment includes air, water, sunlight, and soil- all of which are crucial for our very existence. Again, our very food, be it plants or animals or cereals or pulses, will be non-existent in the absence of the environment!

The environment is thus what sustains life. Instead of abusing it by keeping on extracting from it without giving anything back in return, let us vow to protect our environment, keeping in mind that Gandhi Ji once said, “The Earth has enough resources to satisfy our need but not for our greed.”

Thank you.

Long and Short Speech on Environment in English

Environment speech 1.

Good Morning Principal, Teachers, and My Dear Friends!

As today, the whole school has been assembled here for this beautiful occasion of World Environment Day that is celebrated on 5 th June every year; I would like to say a few words dedicated to the environment.

The environment is the surroundings made from five elements namely- Air, Water, Land, Sky, and Fire for us to flourish. It has been always said that only earth has the most favourable climatic conditions that help us to survive. We should be very grateful towards the earth that we have been provided with such a great environment that has everything in its nature which helps us to thrive. But day by day we are ruining it on the highest pitch that will eventually lead us towards our destruction.

We should understand the importance of the natural environment and try to deduce our non-eco-friendly activities and imperatively plant as many trees as we can and save water that is the two biggest issues.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Environment

Environment Speech 2

Hon’ble Principal, Teachers, and My Dear Friends!

As this special assembly has been called for addressing the biggest issue these days regarding our environment, I would like to express my views on it. It has been recognized by the entire world that our environment is not as it was before. There are drastic changes that have been occurred since few years such as climatic changes, increment in natural disasters, etc all due to our changing lifestyle.

Our environment consists of 5 elements- Air, Water, Land, Fire and Sky and we have disturbed the process of entire ecosystem by cutting the vast amount of trees who contributes the most in balancing the environmental cycle, installment of large polluting industries, hunting/poaching of animals leading towards their endangerment, etc.

Out of this, the question arises is that what kind of future we want or what kind of future we are going to hand over to our next generations? Is this the kind of development we all have dreamt about? Walking with a mask on our faces, struggle in floods and earthquakes, destruction of animals who aren’t even aware of what’s happening around.

Now this is the high time where we need to recognize the importance of our natural environment and try every possible action towards saving it from saving water to planting trees.

Environment Speech 3

Good morning to the Excellencies, my respected teachers and my dear friends. The topic of my speech is Environment. Environment is the surrounding in which we live. It is the source of life. Our whole life is dependent to the environment. It directs our life and determines our proper growth and development.

Good or bad quality of social life depends on the quality of our natural environment. The need of human beings for food, water, shelter and other things depends on the environment around us. There is a balanced natural cycle exists between environment and lives of human beings, plants and animals. Human society is playing vital role in degenerating the natural environment which in turn negatively affects the lives on this planet. All the human actions in this modern world directly impact the whole ecosystem.

All the actions have brought a big change in this planet which resulted in many environmental problems. Increasing demand of technologies and industries in the modern time impacts the nature. The increasing invention of new technologies has changed the interaction of people with environment which permits more population to grow.

The modern technologies have immense power which has altered the whole environment in an unimagined way. The indiscriminate use of environment is the root of ecological crisis. Such continuous increase in the technologies and human behaviour are correspondingly very serious. Such amazing technologies have become the reason of economic growth in 20 th century however it had dramatically affected the natural resources.

Some of the environmental problems are rapid growth in world population, deteriorating natural resources, diminishing forests and wetlands, erosion of soil and coral reefs, depleting underground water, regular shortage of fresh drinking water, vanishing plants, salinization in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Middle East.

Good morning to the Excellencies, my respected teachers and my dear friends. As we have gathered here to celebrate this occasion, I would like to speech over Environment. To run the life in healthy happy way, we all need a healthy and natural environment. Continuously increasing human population adversely affects the forests. Human beings are cutting forests to a great extent for making their home to live securely however they do not think of the problems arises due to the lack of forests.

It completely disturbs the natural cycle between environment and life on the earth. Because of the over-population, the number of various chemical elements is increasing in the atmosphere which ultimately causes irregular rainfall and global warming. We cannot imagine the negative effects of global warming over the climate and lives of human beings and other living species.

According to the research it is found that the perennial snow mountains of the Tibet were totally covered by the thick snow in the past however those thick snows are getting very thin day by day over last few decades because of the global warming. Such condition is very dangerous situation and indication of end of life on earth which needs to be taken very seriously by all countries worldwide. It is very true that climate change goes very slow however slow continuous process is very dangerous.

Because of the regular changes in the environment physical structure of the human beings and other living species has been changed from generation to generation. Increasing human population needs more land for agricultural cultivation and living purpose which force them to cut more trees and forests so the deforestation has its own dangerous side effects.

Increasing level of industrialization has countless harmful effects on the atmosphere because of the poisonous chemical emissions and dangerous wastes drainage in the big water resources such as Yamuna, Ganga, and other rivers. The ever changing (negatively) environment is not the issue of only some countries or government; it is the issue of whole human fraternity because we all are the reason of this negatively declining environment so we all are responsible to save our natural environment for the healthy survival of life on the earth.

Protecting the atmosphere is the matter of high importance for all the present and future generations of mankind. The main purpose of my speech today over the environment is only to increase the public awareness among common people about the reasons of declining environment as well as need of healthy and natural environment for the life on earth. So, it is my humble request to all of you that please contribute to save your environment.

Environment Speech 5

Good morning to my respected teachers and my dear friends. As we have gathered here to celebrate this occasion, I would like to speech on the Environment to increase awareness among public about the negatively changing environment. An environment is the natural surrounding which covers and protects us from the natural disasters.

However, our healthy and natural environment is getting worse day by day and taking the form of demon affecting everything from non-living to living beings. What we know is two types of environment called natural environment and built environment. The natural environment is one which exists naturally and the one for which man is responsible such as cities etc is called built environment. There are many natural and unnatural factors polluting the whole natural atmosphere.

Some of the natural factors like volcanoes, flood, etc are the reasons of declining environment. However, manmade reasons are more rampant caused due to the reckless and the caustic human nature are highly responsible for the environmental pollution. Self centred human activities are highly responsible for the destruction of the environment. Other environmental threats like forests degradation, global warming, pollution, etc are the reasons of environment degradation. Continuous increasing temperature of the earth surface in the atmosphere because of the many human made and natural means calls to the various natural calamities causing disturbance to a great extent to the healthy and common life of human and all other living beings.

Our natural environment has become hugely changed in the last few decades and has taken form of big and powerful demon affecting the lives of people every single moment. Nature has made everything to run in balance with the natural cycle however many factors causes environmental corrosion. The factors like population growth and economic advancement are considered as the major factors giving rise to many other secondary factors.

We must understand the importance of ecological balance and try our best to run it naturally in order to prevent the effects of environmental disasters and promote the existence of healthy environment. We should promote common public in our surroundings for the clean and green environment to prove the meaning of proverb like “We won’t have a society if we destroy the environment”.

Environment Speech 6

First of all I would like to say good morning to the Excellencies, respected teachers, and my dear friends. As we all know that we have gathered here to celebrate this auspicious occasion, I would like to speech over the environment in order to make you aware of our continuously declining environment so that we all together can be successful in saving our environment by taking some effective steps. As we know that we live on the planet of earth having different types of surroundings called environment within which we can eat healthy, breathe freshly, and live safely.

However, what happens to our lives if any means of natural or manmade causes of environment degradation takes place, we cannot imagine the extent of loss to the human and other living beings existence. The ecology balance and natural cycles has become disturbed which is very hard to bring back and give it a natural shape. However, there is a common saying that “prevention is better than cure”, so we never gets tired of trying our best to save the environment.

Physical environment on this planet provides all of us a favourable required condition and supports the existence and growth of various forms of life here. Natural or physical environment is provided by the nature however all forms of the living beings together constitute another environment called biological environment. Both of the environments are closely connected to each other and make a unique natural system for the life survival. If the biological environment gets disturbed, physical environment automatically gets disturbed and both hugely affect the human lives together.

Another environment which is completely depending on the human is socio-cultural environment made by the human beings. Whatever environment is, it must be healthy, safe and secure to continue the evergreen life on the earth in present and future.

We should realize our mistakes and concern about the environment in order to keep it clean, safe and secure for the healthy life. Many of the human activities like deforestation, industrialization, technological improvements and so many are leading our environment towards danger and keeping lives at risk by influencing the growth, development and survival of all organisms.

Various types of environmental pollution such as water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution, soil pollution, etc are disturbing the ecosystem and causing variety of health hazards to the human beings and animals. Environmental pollution is damaging the ecosystem and destroying the delicate balance of the natural ecosystem. So, now-a-days environmental pollution is the matter of great concern and consideration for which we all together follow some effective steps and carry on until problems gets solved completely.

FAQ on World Environment Day

History behind world environment day.

The UN Assembly designated June 5 as World Environment Day(WED) in 1972. It was done to create an awareness of the kind of environment we are living in and the need to conserve and preserve it for the present and the future. ‘Only One Earth’ was the slogan for the first celebration of the World Environment Day in 1974, and from then on, the commemoration of the World Environment Day has become a platform to create consciousness on the environmental issues we are facing on a global scale. It also turned out to be a chance for everyone to rethink the ways in which they are exploiting the environment we are a part of.

Environment Day through the Ages

Down the years, the WED has become a pathway to the restoration of the ecosystem which includes the recovery of destroyed ecosystems and preserving the ecosystems that are still in shape. Every year, the WED is hosted by a different country and has a different theme. In the year 2020, the WED was hosted by Columbia and Germany under the theme, ‘Time for Nature’.

Pakistan will be the global host country this year (2021), and the theme is ‘Reimagine. Recreate. Restore’ and aims at Ecosystem Restoration.

Environment Day Speech in English

Here are a few speeches you can refer to in order to help prepare yours.

Speech about Environment Day in 300 Words

As human beings, the environment we exist in plays a very important role in the well-being of every life possible on this Earth, and it is our duty to preserve and keep everything in check. Throughout the years, there have been many movements and awareness campaigns around the world that have been put forth to make people environmentally conscious. Chipko Movement, dated way back to 1970, carried out by rural villagers, particularly women, was directed towards stopping the government from cutting down trees and demolishing forests for various reasons. Van Mahotsav is yet another initiative, an annual tree-planting festival that goes on for a week in the month of July, which was initiated in 1950 by K. M. Munshi, the then Union Minister for Agriculture and Food. There were also many others like the Save Silent Valley Movement, the Jungle Bachao Andholan, Tehri Dam Movement and so on.

We, at our school, have been following the same path for the past few years. It is necessary that all of us, as inhabitants of this planet, understand the need to be aware of our surroundings and find ways to protect it in every possible way. It is not just enough for us to be aware but also let the others know that we owe a great deal of respect and concern for all that the Earth we live in is providing us with. So here we are today to hold hands in making every little difference we can, together. Let us stand together and make this world a wonderful place, not just for us but for the future generations as well. To ‘Only One Earth’ and giving more ‘Time for Nature’.

Short Speech on World Environment Day

“One of the first conditions of happiness is that the link between man and nature shall not be broken,” said Leo Tolstoy. The relationship between human beings and the environment is important and it is necessary that they understand and work to keep it strong.

World Environment Day is celebrated on the 5 th of June every year. It is celebrated to raise awareness and to take actions to conserve the environment. It was initiated in 1972 by the UN Assembly and has come a long way since. The concern for preserving the environment did not just start then. People have been taking initiatives to do whatever is possible on their own, to make life better for everyone by creating awareness about preserving nature. Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” and that is exactly what all of us are here to do today. Let us join together and do our part in making our environment and our life on this planet as wondrous as it should be.

One Minute Speech on Environment Day

Nature has been painting for us infinite pictures of beauty every day, according to John Ruskin. It is just that people fail to see what nature has to offer. It is for this reason that we have occasions like the World Environment Day to remind us of what we are missing out. Planting a sapling, holding placards, shouting slogans, going on a rally – all of this is definitely something but not everything. We should be a lot more conscious of the kind of environment we are a part of and try to make it sustainable. In order to do that, it is not enough to do all of this just for a day, but make it our lifestyle. Join in, let us work together to make some real change.

Why is Environment Day celebrated?

Environment Day is celebrated every year to create awareness on problems faced by the environment due to air pollution, global warming, deforestation, wild forest fires and so on. It also helps us make a check on the kind of life we are all living that harms and destroys nature.

Why is 5th June celebrated as World Environment Day?

The UN General Assembly designated June 5 as World Environment Day for the first time in 1972, and since then, every year, June 5 is commemorated as World Environment Day all around the world.

What is the theme for Environment Day?

The theme for Environment Day changes every year. ‘Only One Earth’ was the theme in 1974 when it was first celebrated. It was ‘Time for Nature’ in 2020 and ‘Ecosystem Restoration’ is the theme for 2021.

Speech On Environmental Pollution - 10 Lines, Short and Long Speech

Environmental pollution speech -.

Environmental pollution is a significant problem in the world. The majority of this pollution is a result of human activity. Some of the leading causes of environmental pollution include human activities such as burning fossil fuels, using vehicles, dumping industrial waste, cutting down trees and forests, and using a lot of plastic.

Speech On Environmental Pollution - 10 Lines, Short and Long Speech

10 Line Speech On Environmental Pollution

The addition of any impure substance in the form of solid, liquid, or gas to the environment is called pollution.

Pollution can make the whole environment dirty by polluting the air, water, and land.

The chemical particles also pollute the environment.

Honking and loud volume sound create noise pollution which is very harmful to the ears.

When artificial fertilisers mixed with the soil, land pollution occurs.

Throwing garbage in an open area pollutes the surroundings and results in spreading several diseases.

Various Animals also suffer from pollution.

The extraction of impure particles from factories pollutes the water.

Improper sewage management causes pollution, we should cover the drainage pipes properly to protect the environment.

Metals like Arsenic Mercury pollute the groundwater

Short Speech On Environmental Pollution

Environmental pollution poses a significant threat to the atmosphere, as well as to the health and livelihood of humans, plants, and animals. Any living thing can only continue to exist in this world with a clean-air environment. It would not be easy to imagine life on Earth if the climate wasn't pure and clean.

Pollution is present in a variety of forms and originates from lots of sources. Some forms of environmental pollution include noise pollution, soil pollution, water pollution, and air pollution. Any type of environmental contamination is harmful and has unwanted effects.

Impacts Of Environmental Pollution

Ocean acidification

Ozone layer depletion

Global warming

Species extinction

Environmental pollution has risen as a result of global industrialization and modernization. Making new rules and upholding them strictly will help stop the harm that environmental pollution faces to the entire world. Utilising environmentally friendly fuels and properly collecting and dumping garbage are two approaches to reducing environmental pollution.

An improved solution might be to restrict deforestation and encourage tree planting. We must take action to minimise postorder to safeguard the health and future of the next generation. Both directly and indirectly, environmental pollution impacts how people and other species live. These living things have long coexisted with humans on earth.

Long Speech On Environmental Pollution

The environment is our home, where we live, or the earth's surroundings are known as the environment. But the pollution human beings spread is known as Environmental pollution. Currently, our environment is polluted more than an exception.

Environmental pollution prevents the earth from restoring its typical ecosystem. Life on earth has been both created and destroyed by human forces. Human activity is a significant factor in the environment's destruction.

Our respiratory system is damaged daily because we take carbon and dust particles through our noses because of environmental pollution. These are brought on by a large number of industrial and manufacturing facilities through the burning of fossil fuels and carbon dioxide from vehicle combustion.

Any pollutant, including human and chemical factory waste, can easily contaminate water. We also utilise this water for drinking and cultivating crops. However, they also become polluted as a result of infection. Additionally, an animal eventually dies after consuming this same poisoned water.

Because of the containment of polluted soil and water, the crop or agricultural produce also gets toxic. Additionally, contaminated food affects our organs and overall health. These crops are laced with chemical substances from the beginning of their lives until harvest time.

Environmental pollution is also a result of climate change. Additionally, it impacts the ecosystem's biological and physical elements. Climate changes such as ozone depletion, greenhouse gases, and global warming are causes of environmental pollution. Moreover, they may have dangerous effects on future generations. The unpredictable extremes of cold and heat impact the earth's natural system.

Types of environmental pollution-

Noise Pollution - Noise pollution also called sound pollution happens when the level of noise in the environment gets too high. Noise pollution is caused by things like car horns, loudspeakers, music systems, and industrial activities. Noise pollution is harmful for our ears.

Soil Pollution - Soil pollution, also called land pollution, takes place when solid waste, non-biodegradable materials, chemicals, and other things are dumped on open land. Waste from cities and runoff from farms are the main things that pollute the soil. Due to soil pollution, we did not get good quality food.

Water Pollution - Waste from industries and sewage water is not treated well enough before being dumped into rivers and other water bodies, which results in water pollution. It is harmful to humans as well as aquatic life.

Air Pollution - Air pollution happens when particles and other harmful gases are released into the air and make it unhealthy. The air we breathe is polluted by the smoke that comes out of factory chimneys and automobiles. Air pollution affects our respiratory system.

Furthermore, several unstable climate changes, such as earthquakes, famine, smog, carbon particles, shallow rain or snow, thunderstorms, volcanic eruptions, and avalanches, are brought on by environmental pollution.

Most importantly, we must take action if we want to live on Earth. These steps will help safeguard our future and the future of the next generation. We have only one environment, sh; we take care of it. We should give proper knowledge to the new generation about the environment. Additionally, we should plant at least one tree in a month.

A short history of the Met Gala and its iconic looks

The gala in New York City raises funds for the Met’s Costume Institute, which exhibits fashion across centuries and continents.

short speech on environment a

Since it started in 1948, the Met Gala has delivered boundary-pushing fashion modeled by celebrities and cultural icons, from rock stars to activists. The star-studded event generates millions of dollars for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

“Fashion’s biggest night” is hosted annually on the first Monday in May. It began as a fundraiser for the newly-founded institute, with tickets at only $50. Instead of modeling looks on the museum’s famous steps and partying in the Temple of Dendur as they do today, attendees were hosted at famous New York City venues including the Waldorf Astoria and Central Park for the first 20 years of the event.

The dress code for 2024 is “The Garden of Time,” while the exhibition, “ Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion ” uses technology to examine garments and accessories spanning four centuries.

Take a look at some of the most inspiring and creative pieces worn to the gala and put on display at the Met’s Costume Institute.

Weekend rundown: Here's the biggest news you missed this weekend

Biden's general election strategy: Less is more

Joe Biden

WASHINGTON — As President Joe Biden ramps up his re-election effort, his campaign is also scaling back how much he says on the trail, part of a larger new strategy to hone a sharper message he’ll take into the general election, according to Biden aides.

The less-is-more approach aims for quality over quantity when it comes to the president’s public appearances, aides said.

“There’s a strategic advantage at this point in the race to boiling down your message to the three or four most salient, compelling arguments for why President Biden should be re-elected,” said TJ Ducklo, the Biden campaign’s senior adviser for communications. “That will often translate to the stump [speech] being whittled down to its sharpest, most dynamic form. That’s what you’re seeing.”

The approach also has the appearance of a strategy aimed at minimizing the potential for Biden to make mistakes in a razor-close election. Some of Biden’s verbal missteps have occurred when he’s talking at length, veers off the prepared text or answers a reporter’s question when that wasn’t part of the plan.

Shorter, crisper remarks from Biden are part of his campaign’s broader strategy of having him appear more in smaller settings that the president’s aides believe serve him better than large, traditional rallies with voters.

Some of Biden’s advisers have been pushing for him to go even further in attempts to sharpen his public appearances. They’ve argued for the president to replace prepared campaign remarks entirely, in favor of less scripted retail stops and punchier, digital content where he speaks directly to the camera.

That dramatic shift hasn’t happened, but aides say the idea has been discussed as the campaign tries to find ways to reach an unsettled electorate that consumes information differently than in previous cycles. Discussing the idea is also a reflection, aides say, of how much harder it is to get — and keep — voters’ attention.

The president has in recent weeks made notable efforts at brevity, in both official and campaign events. Biden’s remarks this past week on the campus protests over the war in the Gaza Strip were just four minutes long. His high-profile speech on abortion rights in Florida last week was just 14 minutes long. And his speech at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner lasted just 10 minutes — half as long as the year before.

Still, the effort appears to be a work in progress. At an infrastructure event in North Carolina on Thursday, Biden often deviated from the script in the teleprompter to add some political flourishes and spoke for more than 20 minutes.

Current and former Biden officials have long noted that the president sees value in delivering longer speeches, citing his interest in communicating comprehensively with Americans on policy matters. And aides said in the weeks ahead Biden will, at strategic moments, deliver some longer, issue-specific speeches aimed at drawing a contrast with his Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump. Most recently he gave an economic policy speech in Scranton, Pennsylvania, that lasted about a half-hour.

The Biden campaign has not yet built a speechwriting team, and most of the president’s public appearances continue to be in official settings. Mike Donilon, one of the Biden’s closest advisers who earlier this year shifted from his West Wing role to the campaign, has been regularly traveling with Biden as his events increasingly take a political turn.

Biden aides say they hope to refine a more compact stump speech for the president to use as the pace and intensity of the campaign builds later this summer.

“We’re evolving in the way that a campaign should,” one campaign official said.

The timing for scaling down the president’s remarks tracks with how his campaign operated four years ago, though Biden campaign events in 2020 were sparse due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Biden’s remarks shrank to an average of about 15 minutes as he gained momentum toward a matchup with Trump in 2020. At one of his larger events before Covid lockdowns, with thousands of people gathered under St. Louis’ Gateway Arch, Biden spoke for just seven minutes.

One former campaign official said the campaign — and Biden himself — felt the abridged stump speech resonated with voters and didn’t need more. The brevity of it “also had the benefit of him getting comfortable with the delivery, and then coming off better,” the former official said.

Even so, the official added, a briefer stump speech is no guarantee that Biden avoids mistakes, given sometimes shorter prepared remarks only invite the president to go beyond the written text.

Lord Dave launches the gunboats for his big foreign policy speech

His tenure as Foreign Secretary looks set to be short – but it’s no great stretch to imagine the Bronzed Baron heading the next Opposition

Madeline Grant

Lord Dave is presumably now very used to the atmosphere in the House of Lords. Red benches, good lunches, convivial etc. It was therefore slightly disconcerting to see him against the cold grey backdrop of the Orwellian-sounding “ National Cyber Security Centre ”.

Not that there is anything cold or grey about the Foreign Secretary’s complexion nowadays; a carroty hue that lands somewhere between Gemma Collins and a glass of Fanta. It is not only British trade interests that have benefited from Lord Dave’s round-the-world trips.

Alas, the audio was less than world-beating. The Foreign Secretary’s microphone kept cutting out, leaving him mouthing away like a silent movie star or a goldfish in a suit. Every time he sputtered out, a sort of clattering noise cut in, as if the sound engineer was putting the bins out. It sounded less like he’d been hacked by China and more like he’d hired Frank Spencer as an audio technician. Nothing says “global Britain” like a series of technological cock-ups.

Even more reassuringly, reporters and civil servants arriving for Lord Dave’s first major foreign policy speech to a British audience were told that the security code for the doors was “1234”. Perhaps China managed to hack the MoD database the other day by trying a few variations of “password2024”.

When he was actually audible, we were treated to some classic Cameronisms. The story of him chipping off a bit of the Berlin Wall to take back to Chipping Norton got another airing. Also in Lord Dave’s memory-palace was his recollection of launching the 2010 manifesto in Battersea Power Station. “It was a derelict building left crumbling for decades”, he told us in an extended reverse metaphor for what’s happened to the Conservative Party during that time. Again the microphone sputtered, but poor Dave trudged on.

Lord Cameron sitting at the head of a long table with various delegates, in front of some ornate doors

He invoked some of his predecessors in the role: “Entering my office, I pass portraits.” As, inevitably, his term of office looks limited, this seemed an attempt to position himself among the greats. “Bevin and Eden, Grey and Salisbury, Canning and Castlereagh” were all mentioned. There was nothing for Liz Truss.

Technical gaffes aside, what we could hear of the speech put the Foreign Secretary more in the tradition of Palmerston than the peaceniks: continuing arms sales to Israel, talk of a “harder edge” on defence and foreign policy. Of course, Palmerston actually had a few gunboats to send but that was merely a side issue to Lord Dave.

Eventually we reached the lobby questions, and in true Palmerstonian style, Lord Dave deployed the gunboats and fixed them squarely on Dover. “What does this tell us about the party she’s joining?” he asked, of Tory-turned-Labour MP Natalie Elphicke . “In life, if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.”

It was a reminder that Lord Dave is one of the few frontbenchers left who can speak with any real conviction. With a nasal knight looking set to be our next prime minister, it’s not too much of a stretch to imagine the bronzed baron as leader of the opposition once again.

Biden campaign touts keeping president's speeches shorter: 'Quality over quantity'

P resident Biden's campaign is keeping the president's speeches and appearances short and sweet as election day nears, which his deputy campaign manager said was about "quality over quantity" on Saturday.

During an interview with MSNBC on Saturday, host Michael Steele asked principal deputy campaign manager Quentin Fulks about the new strategy. Biden's aides believe smaller appearances would benefit him more than larger rallies or campaign events, according to NBC News .

"To be honest Quentin, I think that is a very smart idea," Steele said. "I appreciate that approach because it is a way for the president to hit with clarity, stick his points and move on and not get lost and sidetracked."

"Our campaign believes in quality over quantity. We believe that these touches, these smaller things that are getting directly to the point about what is going on in the stakes of this election are going to be easier for voters to tap into," Fulks explained.

Fulks said former President Trump was to blame for the Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade, and argued the former president wanted to destroy Social Security and Medicare.

"We've got to remove the clutter. Voters are tuning in, and we've got to get directly to the point. Donald Trump wants to be a dictator on day one, and he's saying that he's proud and that most people like that. We have to just remove all of the clutter and get directly to the message to make it easy for voters to follow, understand, go out and communicate," Fulks continued.

NBC News reported that the strategy had the "appearance" of a campaign that wanted to minimize Biden's public appearances, due to concern over Biden making a mistake.

The president recently declared Japan, a U.S. ally, was "xenophobic," and compared the country to Russia and China.

Biden, who has given fewer sit-down interviews with the press than any of his modern predecessors, recently called on the press to "rise up to the seriousness of the moment" during a 10-minute speech at the White House correspondents' dinner.

"Move past the horse race numbers and the 'gotcha' moments and the distractions and the sideshows that have come to dominate and sensationalize our politics, and focus on what’s actually at stake," Biden said. "I think in your hearts, you know what's at stake."

The president delivered a short, 4-minute speech on Thursday in response to anti-Israel protests occurring on college campuses.

He condemned antisemitism, but expressed support for peaceful protests and quickly answered two questions before leaving the room.

"So let me be clear... Violent protest is not protected. Peaceful protest is. It's against the law when violence occurs. Destroying property is not a peaceful protest. It's against the law. Vandalism. Trespassing. Breaking windows. Shutting down campuses. Forcing the cancellation of classes and graduations. None of this is a peaceful protest," Biden continued. "Threatening people. Intimidating people. Instilling fear in people is not peaceful protest. It's against the law."
