తమిళంతో పాటు, తెలుగులోనూ మంచి క్రేజ్‌ ఉన్న నటుడు కార్తి ( Karthi ). ఆయన నటించిన ప్రతి సినిమా తెలుగులోనూ విడుదలవుతుంది. అయితే, ఆగస్టు 12న తమిళంలో ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు వచ్చిన ‘విరుమన్‌’ (Viruman) తెలుగు వెర్షన్‌ మాత్రం విడుదల చేయలేదు. ఇప్పుడు అమెజాన్‌ ప్రైమ్‌ వీడియో వేదికగా ‘పసలపూడి వీరబాబు’ (Pasalapoodi Veerababu) గా ఈ సినిమా విడుదలైంది. మరి ఈ వీరబాబు కథేంటి?

కథేంటంటే: వీరబాబు(కార్తి)కి తండ్రి భూపతి(ప్రకాశ్‌రాజ్‌) అంటే పడదు. తన తల్లి చావుకు కారణం అతడేనంటూ చిన్నప్పుడే హత్యాయత్నం కూడా చేస్తాడు. కోర్టు తీర్పుతో మావయ్య (రాజ్‌కిరణ్‌) వద్ద పెరిగి పెద్దవాడవుతాడు. తన తల్లి గొప్పతనాన్ని తండ్రితో పాటు ముగ్గురు అన్నలకు తెలియజెప్పి, పశ్చాత్తాపం చెందేలా చేయాలనుకుంటాడు. అందుకు వీరబాబు ఏం చేశాడు? రేణుక (అదితి శంకర్‌) ఎవరు? చివరకు భూపతి ఎలా మనిషిగా మారాడు? అనేది సినిమాలో చూడాలి.

ఎలా ఉందంటే: తండ్రీ కొడుకుల మధ్య వైరం కథా నేపథ్యంతో ఇప్పటికే కొన్ని వందల సినిమాలు వచ్చాయి. ‘పసలపూడి వీరబాబు’ కూడా అలాంటి బాపతే. తండ్రిపై హత్యాయత్నం చేయడానికి వీరబాబు ప్రయత్నించడంతోనే సినిమా మొదలవుతుంది. మొదటి సన్నివేశంతోనే అసలు కథేంటో చెప్పేశాడు దర్శకుడు. దీనికి అన్నదమ్ముల సెంటిమెంట్‌, మధ్యలో ఊరి గొడవ, ఆ మధ్యలో లవ్‌ ట్రాక్‌. ప్రతి భాషలో అనేకసార్లు వాడి వాడి అరగదీసిన సబ్జెక్ట్‌ను తీసుకుని, దర్శకుడు ముత్తయ్య మళ్లీ తీశారంతే. ఒక్క సన్నివేశంలోనూ కొత్తదనం, ఆసక్తి, ఉత్కంఠ కనిపించదు. ఎమ్మార్వో అయిన తండ్రి పరువు తీయడానికి వీరబాబు విక్రమార్కుడిలా ప్రయత్నాలు చేయడమే సినిమా. దురాశపరుడైన తండ్రి ఛీకొట్టడంతో దూరమైన అన్నలను అక్కున చేర్చుకుంటూ ఉంటాడు. గతంలో కార్తి నటించిన ‘చినబాబు’  కూడా ఇలాగే సాగుతుంది. ఇక మధ్యలో హీరో ఎలివేషన్స్‌, ఫైట్స్‌, మాస్‌ డైలాగ్స్‌ అన్నీ కామన్‌. ప్రేక్షకుడికి ఒకేఒక్క ఉపశమనం ఏంటంటే, ఎలాంటి అసభ్యతకు తావులేకుండా ముత్తయ్య సినిమా తీశారు.  ప్రతి పండగకూ అదే పులిహోర, అవే గారెలు చేసుకుని తిన్నట్లే.. ఏదైనా ఫ్యామిలీ డ్రామా చూడాలంటే ‘పసలపూడి వీరబాబు’ చూడాలంతే.  అంతకుమించి సినిమాలో ఏమీ ఉండదు.  ఇంకో విషయం ఏంటంటే, తెలుగువారి కోసం కూడా ఈ సినిమాను సిద్ధం చేసినట్లు అర్థమవుతోంది. బ్యాగ్రౌండ్‌లో అన్ని చోట్లా తెలుగు పేర్లు కనిపిస్తాయి. కానీ, ఎందుకు విడుదల చేయలేదో లోగుట్టు ‘వీరబాబు’కే ఎరుక.

ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే: కార్తికి ఇలాంటి పాత్రలు కొట్టిన పిండి. వీరబాబుగా మాస్‌ క్యారెక్టర్‌లో చాలా సులభంగా చేసుకుంటూ వెళ్లిపోయారు. అగ్ర దర్శకుడు శంకర్‌ కుమార్తె ఈ సినిమాతోనే వెండితెరకు పరిచయం అయ్యారు. పల్లెటూరి అమ్మాయిగా అందంగా కనిపిస్తూనే చక్కటి హావభావాలు పలికించింది. భూపతిలాంటి నెగెటెవ్‌ షేడ్స్‌ ఉన్న పాత్రను ప్రకాశ్‌రాజ్‌ ఎన్నోసార్లు చేశారు. మిగిలిన వాళ్లంతా తమిళ నటులే. సెల్వకుమార్‌ సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ బాగుంది. పల్లెటూరి అందాలను చక్కగా చూపించారు. వెంకట్‌ రాజీవ్‌ ఎడిటింగ్‌, యువన్‌ శంకర్‌రాజా సంగీతం ఓకే. పాటలకు పెద్దగా ప్రాధాన్యం లేదు. ముత్తయ్య ఎంచుకున్న కథలో కొంచెం కూడా కొత్తదనం లేదు. ఇంతకుమించి చెప్పడానికి ఏమీ లేదు.

You don’t walk into a Muthiah movie expecting anything out of the box, but just his usual formulaic rural masala template presented in an entertaining fashion. While the packaging works to an extent as standalone elements, the terrible writing fails to evoke any tension nor interest around its central conflict. The problematic storyline and cringe stuff drag it down further. Music and cinematography were solid. Karthi delivers another effortless performance and along with Prakashraj holds the drama from sinking. Aditi’s dance was enjoyable. One paisa vasool moment I enjoyed the most was Raj Kiran maams brief action sequence landing his bulldozer punches. :) On the whole, ends up a below average outing.

Don't wanna comment about the writing part because there is no use of analysing it in Muthaiyah's film. All I want from this film to be quite decently engaging flick,sadly it doesn't satisfy that.

It is a tiresome entertainer with only few moments worked well in the screen.You all should watch it out for PrakashRaj's character - one of the worst written roles ever.

Netflix’s new Telugu movie Cinema Bandi is a love letter to the art of cinema. The film is set in a remote village, which is far away from all the comforts that urban dwellers take for granted. Life in the countryside is simple and villagers are resigned to their fate, they don’t expect the government to improve their standard of living. At least that’s what Ganapathi (Sandeep Varanasi), who drives an auto-rickshaw in his village for a living, believes.

One day, when he returns home after the day’s work, he finds an expensive backpack in the back of his vehicle. One of his passengers has left it behind. The next morning, we find out that the bag contains a high-end camera. How high-end, do you ask? “It is the camera used to shoot Mahesh Babu and Prabhas films,” explains Veerababu (Vikas Vasistha), the popular photographer in the village and Ganapathi’s close friend. “What about Pawan Kalyan movies?” is Ganpathi’s response, who seems to believe that the camera has value only if it was used to shoot a Pawan Kalyan film. Such is the reverence that movie stars enjoy among their fans.

The ignorance and innocence are what makes the people in the village content with what life serves them. This usual equanimity gets a jolt with the discovery of the camera. It prompts Ganapathi to aspire for a better lifestyle and gives him ambition. He decides to shoot a film that will earn him Rs 100 crore profit at the box office. And once it happens (notice how he does not doubt his movie becoming a blockbuster), Ganpathi promises to fix the roads, arrange for round-the-clock electricity and rebuild the school in his village.

But, easier said than done right? So it begins. Ganapathi and Veerababu set out to make a movie within their village. And what follows is a generous supply of humour deeply rooted in reality. Amid all the laugh-out-loud moments, there are also truly heartfelt moments that will make your eyes well up. You don’t shed tears out of sadness for their struggle. It is more like a tear of gratitude for reviving our faith in virtues of innocence, honesty and the shared joy of cinema.

Filmmakers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K, popularly known as Raj and DK of The Family Man fame have produced Cinema Bandi. It is helmed by debutant Praveen Kandregula.
