Teaching English in France allows you to be fully immersed in the culture while earning an income and beefing up your resume. However, snagging a job in France is notoriously difficult, especially for those without EU citizenship.

Why Teach English in France?

Typical Requirements to Teach English in France

To teach English in France, you must first confirm that you’re eligible. You must:

  • Be a native-English speaker  from the U.S., Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, or the EU
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree  in any field
  • Possess proof of intermediate French ability  with a B1 certificate or higher

TEFL certification is not always required to teach English in France, particularly with the TAPIF program . However, it does give your application a competitive edge - and the TAPIF program and other teaching jobs in France are very competitive. Additionally, if you’d like to teach English full-time, you’ll need a reputable CELTA or TEFL certificate.

Types of Teaching Jobs in France

Tutor Privately While Studying French on a Student Visa

One unique way to teach in France is while attending school! International students can work 20 hours a week on a student visa, and working as a private English tutor is a popular way to earn an income while studying.

Private tutors can earn between €15-€25 per hour ($17-$28). Students can also  teach English online  and earn $15-$20 per hour.

Become a Counselor at an English Summer Camp

Teaching English at a summer camp in France is an excellent short-term employment opportunity. Some of the most popular camps include  American Village Camps,   Abbey Road , and  IBS of Provence . Camp counselors are native English speakers responsible for leading ESL classes and other fun camp activities. Most camps run in the summer, but there are also limited year-round opportunities. Camp counselors can earn up €1,170 per month, sometimes with the additional benefit of provided housing and food. The only catch, however, is that you must be eligible for work authorization in France. One of the most common visas counselors apply for is the VLS-TS (long-stay visa).

Teach Full Time With Dual Citizenship

Those with EU citizenship and French ability can find a full-time teaching job in France in language academies, universities, and public, private, or international schools. But you’ll also need a degree in education and a teaching license to secure this type of teaching job.

The average salary for full-time teaching positions can range between €1,000-2,000 ($1,130-$2,260) per month based on experience and location.

Teach with the TAPIF Program

TAPIF , or the "Teaching Assistant Program in France," is one of the best ways for Americans to live and work in France. The program hires young adults from the U.S. to work as teaching assistants in France's public elementary and secondary schools.

The position requires only 12 hours of work each week, and participants receive a stipend of €785 ($890) per month to cover the cost of living. TAPIF participants struggling financially can sign up for France's  Caisse d'Allocations Familiales (CAF)  program that helps with the cost of housing.

The main  TAPIF requirements  are that you must be between 20-35 years old, have a bachelor’s degree or at least three years of higher education, and speak French at a B1 level. Having a TEFL certificate and experience teaching or working with kids is not required but preferred.

How to Apply to the TAPIF Program

To apply to the TAPIF program, you must submit your application on the  TAPIF online portal  and pay the $80 application fee. Applications are typically due in January every year, and successful candidates are notified in April.

You'll need to submit your personal information and professional qualifications, proof of your French-speaking abilities, and a personal statement in French about why you wish to teach in France.

You cannot choose where you’re placed in France, but you can list three preferred regions on your application. The program tries to put teachers at one of their top three, but it's not guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve got questions. We’ve got answers.

First-time English teachers often dream of teaching in highly sought-after destinations like Paris. While the city has a high number of job opportunities, they're usually extremely competitive. Not to mention, the local cost of living can be too expensive for an English teacher's salary.

However, plenty of mid-sized and small cities offer excellent opportunities to teach English in France. Here are some to consider:

Marseille   is a port city on the southern coast, and it’s a common place for TAPIF teachers and other English teachers to settle down. Many end up living outside of the city center and commuting to work.

Lyon  is another big city in eastern France that’s slightly cheaper than Paris, but still pricey. Most teachers flock to the outskirts of Lyon or its surrounding towns to save while still enjoying the region.

Bordeaux  is nestled in southwestern France's wine country and is a popular place to teach thanks to its numerous opportunities and significantly cheaper cost of living.

Aspiring English teachers should also consider France's smaller or lesser-known destinations.  Places like Strasbourg, Montpellier, and Aix-en-Provence can offer an excellent quality of life that's much more affordable.

Get a bit of insight into what it’s like to teach English in France with some of these helpful blog posts and online resources.

  • Hindsight is 20/20: Looking for Housing as a TAPIF assistant or other expats living in France  by She Seeks Adventure
  • TAPIF Pros and Cons  by Adventures with Shelby

Although not required for TAPIF, an internationally recognized CELTA or TEFL certificate with at least 120-hours can ensure your application stands out from the crowd. Summer camps hiring in France also prefer applicants with a TEFL certification.

Additionally, a TEFL training with a mandatory practicum, or in-class teaching practice, provides you with the essential skills and confidence needed to lead an English class successfully.

CIEE TEFL’S 150-Hour TEFL Certification

CIEE TEFL is one of the best options for those dreaming of teaching abroad in France. As an internationally recognized and trusted brand, CIEE has a proven track record of helping graduates successfully secure jobs teaching English.

CIEE TEFL 150-hour course features:

  • 130 hours of  ACCET accredited  coursework
  • 20 hour  TEFL practicum
  • Instruction by  highly qualified TEFL tutors
  • Lifetime job search assistance
  • Course completion online in just three months

On average, an  ESL teacher in France earns between $800-$2,000/month , but how much you can earn depends highly on the type of job and your qualifications.

For example, TAPIF teaching assistants earn about $800 per month, whereas qualified teachers with a teaching license and a higher degree can make $1,800-$2,000+/month.

Cost of Living in France

The cost of living in France can be pretty expensive, and living in the middle of Paris or other big cities is often too expensive for English teachers.  However, expats in France find that their  average monthly costs fall between €700-€1,200/month .

While most TAPIF participants are responsible for finding an apartment, some schools can provide their assistants free or affordable housing in student dormitories.  Rent for a bedroom in the school’s dorm can range between €150-200 per month.

English teachers in France without housing assistance often find a one-bedroom or a flatshare with roommates on popular websites like  leboncoin.fr  and  appartager . Rent in France can vary drastically, but it’s possible to find a room for €180-€300+ per month or a private apartment for between €450-€650+ or about €700-€1,000+ in Paris .

Lastly, another option is to find accommodation in a Foyer de Jeunes Travailleurs. Foyers are affordable residences reserved for low-income students and young working professionals between 15 and 30 years old.

About France

A wide range of teaching roles are available in this beautiful country, with a plethora of schools and colleges in France that teach English, it’s a great place to begin teaching overseas. With exceptional schooling standards, English is taught to children from 9 months old to prepare them with basic conversational skills. A teaching day is slightly different to the UK, starting at 9am and finishing at 6pm. However, teaching in France has its bonuses, with many schools encouraging midweek private studies at home and extracurricular activities such as music lessons and sports.

Teaching jobs in France are available in Bordeaux, Grenoble, Le Havre, Lyon, Marseilles, Montpellier, Toulouse and the City of Lights itself, Paris. A highly sought-after location to teach abroad, Paris offers art, architecture and amazing cuisine. However, there is a higher cost of living, but well worth the opportunity to teach in this romantic city.

How to Find a Teaching Job in France

Camden

Teaching is by no means an easy job, but teaching English is one of the easiest ways to live and work abroad. If you are wondering about how you can find a job teaching English or another language in France, then you’ve come to the right place. I’ve been living in France for almost four years now and have had a variety of different teaching positions during my time here. Keep reading to find out how I found a teaching job in France for next school year and how you can too!

My Current Situation

With my two years working as a lectrice d’anglais in a French university coming to a close, I needed to find another way to stay in France. Unfortunately my current contract is a fixed term contract that can’t be renewed twice. I had previously done the Teaching Assistant Program in France and studied abroad , so finding a full time teaching position was my ideal solution. Months before the school year came to a close, I began to research different options. I also considered searching for jobs in related fields to teaching. However, I really do enjoy being a teacher and it is what I went to school for, so changing careers didn’t make a lot of sense.

Check out how I became a university language teacher in France aka “ lectrice d’anglais ” here:

Masters or Concours

If you want to teach long term in France, one of the best routes to take is to do a Master’s like the MEEF ( métiers de l’enseignement, de l’éducation et de la formation ) and take the CAPES/CAFEP concours , a national exam to get a French teaching certificate. If you are not European, you cannot work in public schools with CDI contract (an open-ended contract), but you can work in a private school.

I already have two Master’s degrees, so it didn’t really make sense to do another program. Plus, if I became a student again, I would have to go back to the States to get a student visa since it’s not normally possible to switch from worker to student status. If I went back to the US to do this, it would also interrupt my 3 consecutive years in France; I have to be a resident here for 5 years before I can apply for French nationality.

I later learned that you can take the concours if you already have a different Master’s, which is what I thought about doing. However, when I learned about the concours last November, it was already too late since you have to sign up in September/October for the test in the spring.

If you are considering this route, be sure to check out Anne’s blog Present Perfect , where she chronicles how she did the MEEF program and became a teacher in secondary schools in Toulouse.

If I couldn’t find a job that would sponsor my visa, my plan B would be to freelance. Many of the jobs I found for English teaching jobs online indicated that they wanted someone who had auto entrepreneur/micro entrepreneur status . As a freelancer, I wouldn’t need my employer to sponsor my visa. I would however, have to apply for a change of status to get the entrepreneur/profession liberale visa. To do this I would need to make a business plan with projections for the next three years and have letters of interest from potential clients.

My boyfriend and I were considering moving to Toulouse , a bigger city in the South of France, and freelancing would be able to give me freedom to choose where to live. I would also be able to have somewhat of a flexible schedule and could decide how many hours I worked each week. I even thought about doing a TEFL course in Toulouse this summer to get some professional development and start networking.

However, this would have been a bit of a riskier path because there would be no guarantee I would get this visa, even if I made a solid business plan. Toulouse is a big city so I’m sure there would have been teaching opportunities there, but who knows if I would have been able to get enough work to make the minimum wage required for the visa.

education jobs in france

I mentioned that I already did the Teaching Assistant Program in France once, but I technically was still eligible to apply again since I only did the program for one year without renewing. I ended up applying and getting accepted into the Académie de Toulouse . This still wasn’t an ideal option because I could have ended up in a small town rather than in Toulouse. The salary and responsibilities are also smaller than a lectrice d’anglais, so financially and professionally it would feel like a step backwards. Ultimately, I decided to decline the offer.

However, TAPIF is a great opportunity if you want to live abroad temporarily or if you are curious about trying teaching since it is an assistant role. I made a YouTube video talking my experience as an assistante d’anglais here:

International Schools

My dream teaching position is teaching at an international or bilingual school. I am an immigrant in France, so working in an international environment makes me feel a little more at home. Plus, international and bilingual schools are usually private schools and have the means and ability to hire foreign teachers who do not have the concours, but have teaching credentials from their home country.

Securing a Job

I ended up applying to a few international bilingual schools in Paris and in the South of France and had a couple of interviews. Although I wanted to stay in the South of France, I am happy to announce that I was offered a job as a contractual teacher in an international school in Paris and will be moving later this summer! If all goes well, I’ll be eligible for a CDI in a few years after working there.

A few things that I believed helped me get this position include:

  • A Master’s degree in Teaching
  • A Teaching Certificate from my home country
  • 4+ Years of experience in the classroom (Most of them in French schools)
  • An advanced level of French that helped me with my CV, cover letter, and interview
  • An understanding of the school’s mission and a clear explanation of why I wanted to work there
  • A letter of recommendation from my current French employer
  • I am a native speaker of the language I will be teaching
  • A positive outlook (very necessary in the land of “ pas possible !” )

I won’t disclose which school I’ll be working for as I’d like to keep some things private, but I’m looking forward to sharing my future adventures in Paris with all of you!

Websites to Find Teaching Jobs in France

I will list a few websites that I used to search for teaching jobs in France, but I found that most schools posted their listings on their own sites rather on than job searching platforms. So what I did to find these listings was type into Google: [Name of city] + école (or lycée ) internationale ( or “ bilingue “) + recrutement (or professeur d’anglais ). So this would look like: “ Toulouse lycée international recrutement ” or “ Paris école bilingue professeur d’anglais .” It also helps to network with other teachers becuase they might know of available opportunities. You can also contact schools directly and send them a cover letter and your CV in French as a “ candidature spontanée .”

Job Search Platforms to Checkout:

  • Teachers in France Groups on Facebook

When to Apply for Teaching Jobs in France

Most teaching jobs in France in schools are posted in the spring or summer before start of the next school year. Most positions start appearing in March /April and continue to be posted throughout the summer. Just be aware that from Mid-July to the end of August, most schools are on vacation and might not be very responsive, if at all! This is also the case with lecteur/lectrice positions. TAPIF applications open up in the fall and close in January for the following school year. The application for MEEF programs are also usually in the spring/early summer, but depend on the university. Freelance postions are available all year round.

Or, if you currently work in France/have worked here in the past, feel free to share any advice you might have for prospective teachers. Thanks so much for reading, and stay tuned for more adventures in France!

I’m very glad you got your dream teaching position! Like you, I had similar ideas to continue teaching abroad after my lectrice job was over, but alas, I did not get accepted into the places I’d applied, and I ended up turning down an offer to teach in China. I also realized that I didn’t want to teach anymore and wanted to change careers, which led me to returning to the US and settling down. I wish you the best of luck with your teaching endeavors in Paris this fall, and I look forward to your journey to applying for French residency– bon courage!

Thank you so much! Wow, teaching in China would have been an interesting experience, but it seems like you’re enjoying life back in CA!

Congratulations on your success in advancing your teaching career, I hope the professional context will be friendly with motivated students. Paris is a city with so much to offer for a blog, maybe a little less nature and more culture.

Thanks! Yes, I’ll be happy to be in a cosmopolitan city again, but I’ll miss being so close to nature!

It must be possible to reconnect with nature, but there are so many other things to do that we may not think about it as much. Since the beginning of my new stay in February, I have been discovering the TGV network that gives access to so many great cities in France and Europe for a weekend!

All the best in your next role and looking forward to reading all the Paris adventures!

Thank you, Sophie!

You are incredible. I am Lucy. I am a Vietnamese but I am an advanced English speaker and an Intermediate French learner. I have been living in Paris with my fiancé for almost two years now and I would love to find a teaching job here. I have a Master in TESOL granted by a UK university and now I am a student learning French in Paris. I mainly specialize in IELTS test prep for my Vietnamese students and now I am teaching them online (even though I do not have regular classes). Therefore, I would love to become a teacher in Parisian schools, can you tell me if it is possible? I have tried but it is quite challenging indeed. Thanks for your useful blog anyway.

Hi Lucy! You could look into being a “contractual” teacher in French public schools and search “Recrutement de personnels contractuels” otherwise you could try being a locally recruited English assistant https://pia.ac-paris.fr/portail/jcms/p2_1219858/assistants-etrangers

aw, I’m not even really looking for work in France at the moment, but when I was scrolling down a Google search results page and saw a blog titled “Baguettes and Bicyclettes,” I HAD to click! super cute, I’ll try to stay tuned in, if you’re still active!

Aw thank you so much! I do not post as much as I would like to these days as full-time teaching takes a lot of energy, but I post when I can. 🙂

English teaching jobs in France

As you can imagine, France is a prime destination for ESL teachers, and competition for teaching positions is fierce – particularly in Paris. If you are coming from a non-European Union country, you face a long struggle, no matter where in France you would like to teach. The preference is for EU citizens and an employer must prove that there are no EU teachers who can do the job you would like. With the UK just a few miles away across the English Channel, that is a hard sell for employers, no matter how much they may like you.

French employers prefer to hire once they have met prospective employees face to face, so if you have France firmly in your heart as a destination, go there and start knocking on doors.

You will find a variety of language schools and institutions interested in your services, but do not expect to get off the plane and find a job on your first day in the country. Plan to arrive towards the end of summer, as this is the peak hiring season for the upcoming school year. It should be noted that hiring for the summer camps goes on throughout the winter season, so if this is something that interests you as a summer diversion, spend some time during the winter checking out the opportunities. Make sure you arrive in France with enough money to last you for a few weeks until you find a job, and plan to stay at low-cost hostels. It’s cheap and you are likely to make a friend or two.

You may want to prepare yourself for the prospect of taking a part-time job or two before landing a full-time job. Salaries for full-time TEFL and ESL jobs in France will range from USD $1500 to $3000, with classroom hours of 10 to 30 hours plus preparation time. If you are new to teaching ESL, the rule of thumb is one hour of preparation for every one hour of classroom time. Teachers with years of experience may be able to prepare quicker, especially if they are familiar with the curriculum and material.

As for living costs in France – a lot depends on the teacher and what they like to do with their free time and where they live. Living and working in Paris is much more expensive than living simply in the countryside.

The public school system and universities in France do hire ESL and EFL teachers, with a preference for EU citizens and those who are fairly fluent in French. They do pay more than what a language school will pay. However, these jobs are difficult, but not impossible, to come by.

Many teachers will supplement their part-time TEFL or ESL job by taking on private students and find it to be a nice way to get a little more immersed in the culture of France while making new friends.

If you fail the course due to not passing your assignments you will be provided with a full refund. As extensions are an optional expenditure, any extension payments will not be refunded.
  • In order for you to legitimately fail the course, a clear attempt to answer the assignment requirements must be made. This requires uploading the required assignment templates for each submission, and an attempt to address feedback and recommendations provided by the tutor for the second and third attempts. If we deem your attempts at the assignments to not be genuine a refund will not be provided.
  • Any student who has been removed from their course due to plagiarism will be banned indefinitely from enrolling in any course with The TEFL Academy.

Such losses or additional expenses are your responsibility. Force majeure (for the purposes of this clause) means any unusual and/or unforeseeable circumstances such as war or the threat of war, riots, terrorist activity, civil strife, pandemics, epidemics, industrial disputes, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, flood or adverse weather conditions.
  • The TEFL Academy accepts no responsibility, nor shall it have any liability whether in contract, tort, under statute or otherwise, for death, bodily injury or illness caused to you or any other person included on the booking, except where it arises from any negligent act or omission of The TEFL Academy.

Teach English in France: How to Get a Job This Year

Ben Bartee

Does the thought of journeying abroad to teach English in France — arguably the single nation that provokes the greatest romantic fantasy in the foreign imagination – tickle your fancy and stir your wanderlust?

If that’s so, and teaching English in France as an ESL instructor is on your bucket list, here’s everything you need to know.

teach english in france

About Teaching English in France

Here is a quick rundown of some key points about teaching English in France

  • The French hiring cycle is similar to the US domestic version, so finding work is easiest in the early fall (beginning in August) and around the new year before the start of each semester.
  •  It’s significantly easier to get a visa as a citizen of an EU member state compared to teachers from non-EU member states for reasons we will discuss  later
  • You can expect to earn between $1,000-$2,500/month on average (see section on types of English teaching jobs for more details).

Although many Western/European locales have a reputation for greater English fluency than, for example, those in East Asia, the numbers of English speakers here is likely lower than you might guess :

“39% or just under two-fifths of the French population report being able to speak English to some degree. Not many of these can speak it fluently though… many of this 39% will only be able to converse in very basic English at best.”

What that means, among other things, is that there is a (perhaps unexpectedly) strong French demand for English instruction. They are among the 6 Best Places to Teach English in Europe .

Later on, we’ll explore how to capitalize on that demand and land a lucrative job at the French school of your choice.

What Are the Requirements for Teaching English in France?

Here are the basic requirements for teaching English that most hiring managers will look for:

  • 4-year university degree (in any subject)
  • Native English-speaking proficiency
  • Prior teaching experience (not a deal-breaker but extremely helpful)
  • Minimum 120-hour TEFL Certification from an accredited provider*

*If you don’t already have a marketable TEFL certificate, consider upping your ESL game with a TEFL Hero 120-hour online course .

Please note that not every job may require all 4 of the above credentials to gain acceptance. Rather, these are the general requirements. If you don’t yet have all of the above, don’t give up on the job search just yet.

What Visa Do You Need to Teach English in France?

The type of visa you’ll need to find work in France will depend on whether you are coming from an EU member state or a non-member state.

Teachers from EU member states who are legally eligible to work in their home countries do not need any special visa thanks to EU economic integration.

Teachers from non-EU-member states have a much tougher path forward. To legally work in France (emphasis on legally ), you’ll need one of the following documents:

  • A student visa (either a “short-stay” visa good for 3 months or a “long-stay” visa good for 6  months or longer, must enroll in an institute of higher learning)
  • A working holiday visa (Aussie and Kiwi applicants only)
  • Residency permit
  • A work permit sponsored by your school

*The Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF) is an excellent option for American teachers, especially those with limited experience. The program assists teachers in obtaining the appropriate long-stay visa.

tapif logo

Previously, France relied heavily on Brits to fill its teaching vacancies. However, things have changed in that regard recently:

“For a long time, France’s proximity to the UK meant there was a steady stream of English speakers looking to teach in France. Now, language schools are feeling the combined effects of Brexit and Covid-related travel restrictions.

Since the British government decided to end freedom of movement within the EU for its citizens, most Brits now require a visa or work permit if they wish to move to France.”

The high demand for English teachers is good news for the supply side of the ESL market; schools need more teachers than ever before who are willing to brave the visa and COVID hurdles – so, somewhat counterintuitively, now might be the best time in recent history to make that transition to France!

Types of English Teaching Jobs in France (+ Salaries)

Let’s survey some of the common types of English teaching jobs available in France.

France ESL Job Type #1: Private Language Centers

training center in europe

Language schools are the bread and butter of the ESL industry in France. You’ll likely discover that the majority of positions advertised on the web are for this type of learning institution.

Language schools generally offer classes in the evenings and on weekends as supplements to regular daytime school instruction.

Here is such a position advertised by Helen Doron English in Paris at an hourly rate of around $22/hr.

France ESL Job Type #2: English Camp

english camp

English camps are available throughout the year, but particularly in the summertime.

France ESL Job Type #3: International Schools

International schools, in France and elsewhere, are the cream of the crop when it comes to private-sector ESL jobs. In France, you can expect to take in a minimum of $2,000/month (often a lot more) plus a host of benefits.

Because this is the upper echelon of the market, you’ll likely need a healthy resume of prior experience with demonstrated success to get hired.

Here is a position for a librarian/ EAL (English as an Additional Language) teacher at the International School of Paris .

Popular Cities to Teach English in France

marseille

Here are the most popular cities to teach English in France:

  • Paris, the City of Love, home of the world-famous Louvre and Eiffel Tower, and largest urban center
  • Marseille, a historic coastal hub on the Mediterranean
  • Lyon, located in the southeast, former capital of the Gauls in the Roman era
  • Toulouse, a hundred miles or so north of the Mediterranean coast on the River Garonne

How to Find an English Teaching Job in France

Here are a few tips on identifying and landing the perfect teaching job in France.

Where to start

If you’re starting your job search from abroad, here are a few great online resources that compile ESL listings in France:

  • ESLauthority.com
  • ESLCafe.com
  • ESLbase.com

Many employers prefer candidates already in-country. If you’re fortunate enough to already be in France, or if you have the resources (and visa option) to get to France before you find a job, consider a dual in-person (door-knocking)/online application strategy.

How to get hired

Here are a few tips to get hired:

  • Apply to positions even if you don’t have all the listed requirements (unless otherwise indicated in the job ad) – you never know when a school might overlook a few shortcomings in the resume of the right candidate
  • Look for work during an ideal recruiting period in late summer and around the new year before the start of each semester
  • Commit to a minimum of 2 applications/day until you get hired – the grind adds up over time
  • Check the websites above daily to get applications into interested schools as early in the recruitment process as possible (“the early bird gets the worm”)

What’s It Like Being an English Teacher in France?

The typical working week involves 5-25 hours in the classroom, with the rest of the workday available for lesson planning or taking care of other business.

France, like much of Western Europe, doesn’t have the same “nonstop” work culture that America or other nations do. It’s worth noting, in that vein, that the French workweek is actually 35 hours, not the standard 40 hours in most of the developed world. Leaders have even considered lowering that further to 32 hours per week .

American ESL teacher (private business tutor) Sean Bouland from Dallas, Texas, relocated to the coastal city of Nice takes you on a tour of his life and his daily routine:

He notes that he proctors for Cambridge Exams as a side hustle and, interestingly, delivers food for Uber Eats in his free time – “just for fun.”

Very avant-garde (a craft French language reference for you to enjoy).

Kaity, another local ESL teacher, explains some “dos and don’ts” pertaining to teaching English in France, including some interesting perspectives on teaching at the university level.

FAQs About Teaching English in France

Let’s briefly survey some of the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) vis-à-vis (another clever French language plug) teaching ESL in France.

What’s the salary for teaching English in France?

The salary range runs from around $1,000/month at the lower end to $2,500+ at the upper end.

How hard is it to teach English in France?

If you put in the work to earn an online TEFL certification , diligently seek and incorporate feedback, and go into each class with a well-designed lesson plan (many of which are free online), it’s probably easier than you might think.

Can you teach English in France without a degree?

Not typically. Most schools require a degree as a minimum requirement. The notable exception is teaching in English camps, which have laxer standards for teachers.

There are plenty of TEFL opportunities in most French cities and only a small percentage are widely-advertised. Private language centres offer generous salaries. Be warned that you may find it a rather isolating experience unless you can speak intermediate level French. Geography: France, in Western Europe, encompasses medieval and port cities, tranquil villages, mountains and Mediterranean beaches. Paris, its capital, is known worldwide for its couture fashion houses, classical art museums including the Louvre and monuments like the Eiffel Tower. The country is also renowned for its sophisticated cuisine and its wines. Lascaux’s ancient cave drawings, Lyon’s Roman theater and the immense Palace of Versailles are testaments to its long history.

Where to find work in france.

France’s proximity to the UK means that a large number of TEFL teachers employed there are of the British English variety. In some small circles in France there is a preference for North American English accents, and so American applicants can seek out work through those niche placements. As France is a popular TEFL destination, many schools are flooded with applications, making competition fierce. For the most part, schools prefer to hire teachers who are already living locally. With such a wide pool of teachers nearby, there’s no need to import teachers from other locations when someone just as skilled can be found nearby.

Serbia Closer to Deal Over Rafale Jets With France, President Vucic Says

BELGRADE (Reuters) - Serbia could soon sign a deal on the procurement of 12 Rafale multi-purpose fighter jets from France, President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday.

Vucic, who is on a two-day visit to France, said he and President Emmanuel Macron reached concrete agreements over the purchase of the Rafale planes.

"The contract is expected to be signed in the next two months and in the presence of the president of France," he told Serbian journalists in Paris.

The purchase of Rafales from France would mark a shift away from Russia as a traditional weapons supplier and could strain political ties between Belgrade and Moscow.

Last year, Vucic told Reuters that 12 new Rafale jets could cost the Balkan country around 3 billion euros ($3.26 billion).

Serbia, a candidate to join the European Union, has one of the largest militaries in the Balkans which is still reliant on Soviet-designed aircraft, such as MiG-29 jets and MI-35 helicopter gunships, alongside Russian missiles and tanks.

It also operates Chinese anti-aircraft missiles and combat drones.

Vucic also said Serbia was seeking to expand cooperation with Airbus and Thales.

Belgrade has already purchased Airbus-made H125M helicopters and C-295 transport planes for its military and police, Mistral surface-to-air missiles and Thales radars.

Serbia remains militarily neutral, but it joined NATO's Partnership for Peace programme, tailored for countries which do not aspire to join the transatlantic alliance.

Vucic has said Serbia will seek other weapons suppliers after the introduction of Western sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. The Serbian military is now loosely modelled after NATO standards and its troops often exercise with alliance members, including the United States.

Serbia has repeatedly condemned the invasion of Ukraine, but not joined Western sanctions against Russia.
