A Visit to a Book Fair: 250-300 Words

It was the biennial International Book Fair at the Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. My friends and I decided to visit the fair since the opportunity comes only once in two years.

We reached the gate of the venue as early as 10 a.m. and bought our tickets. There was a long queue of book lovers before the counter and it amazed me that even in this age of e-books there are people who read books.

After the security check, we headed towards the centre of the action – the different halls. On our way, We could see banners of different sizes, with the big publishers occupying the largest stalls. Apart from the local publishers, national and international publishers too featured in the fair.

We visited some of the stalls and were impressed by the huge collection of books which included story books, novels, books on anatomy, medicine and others.

Later on, we visited the other halls and made sure that we dropped in at the stalls of the international participants. There were food stalls too, to offer refreshments, and we relieved our fatigue by sipping hot coffee.

As hours passed by, the number of visitors also increased and it became difficult for us to move about freely within the stalls which were full of book lovers.

It was 8 p.m. when we started our journey back home. We were almost drenched in sweat though it was a January evening. We were happy to carry the heavy bundles of books that we had bought and wished that such book fairs would be held more frequently so that people would be inspired to read more.

Though a 150-word paper resembles a paragraph more than a full-size essay, it can still be written according to the essay logic and structuring principles.

The picture lists the components of a 150-word essay.

Here are the main elements of this essay type you should consider.

150-Word Essay Structure

The structure of this essay type will depend on the professor’s or organization’s prompt. Suppose you’re applying to a college or want to get an internship. In that case, essays will require covering specific professional and academic skills, achievements, and ambitions. At the same time, an abstract type of writing will be highly structured, covering the topic’s background, literature, methods, and findings. However, an abstract is not regarded as an essay, so you should think of a 150-word assignment more as a brief yet logically constructed text.

You are welcome to use our free outline generator if structuring a 150-word essay causes any difficulties.

150-Word Essay Introduction

It’s important to make a relevant opening section in your essay – given the total word count of the essay, you should dedicate 10-20% to it, which translates into 30 words. Therefore, it makes sense to allocate 1-2 opening sentences to the topic’s introduction.

Try using the free research introduction maker we’ve developed to prepare an excellent introduction quickly.

150-Word Essay Conclusion

As with other essay types, you will need to make a summary of your content or formulate a call to action consistent with your essay’s purpose and structure. If it’s an application, voice a go-ahead to contact you via the contact channels enumerated in the resume. If it’s a grant application, recap all your relevant skills, expertise, and desire to make an impact.

Take a look at our concluding sentence generator to make a closing paragraph in no time.

How Many References Should I Use in a 150 Word Paper?

In most cases, such small essays will hardly have any references, as they need to present your personality and some relevant details about your academic and professional path. However, if you need to cover some references, the rule of thumb is to allocate 8-12 sources to each 1,000 words of your academic content, leaving you with 2-3 sources for this word count at most.

Make a reference list for your paper easily with our online ai citation generator .

My Book My Inspiration Essay 150 Words

Books, with their extraordinary power to inspire, ignite our imaginations, and shape our perceptions. Books have always been my source of inspiration because they have the power to transform lives in profound ways.

Ever since I was a young kid, I loved to read because it transported me to distant lands and introduced me to unique characters. These literary adventures ignited my creativity and instilled a deep appreciation for the beauty of language. I also developed emotional appreciation for different cultures and languages, transcending cultural boundaries.

Books are my best friends. Books have provided me solace in challenging times. As I grew up, my passion for diverse genres of literature deepened. Each book that I have read, has broadened my understanding

My Book My Inspiration Essay 500 words

Books have always been an integral part of my life, serving as portals to new worlds and inspiration for personal growth. Among the countless books I have read in the past few years, one book stands out as a profound source of enduring wisdom and motivation. The book that holds a special place in my heart is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. From the moment I turned its first few pages, I was spellbound by the narrative  and the wisdom embedded in the book. It has profoundly shaped my worldview and inspired me to strive for a more just and compassionate society.

From the moment I first opened its pages, "To Kill a Mockingbird" captivated me with the way it has maintained its captivating storytelling while exploring complex themes such as racial injustice, moral courage, and the power of empathy. At the heart of the story lies the unforgettable and most remarkable character of Atticus Finch, a lawyer who defends an innocent black man, Tom Robinson, against a charge of rape in the deeply segregated Alabama community. Through Atticus's unwavering commitment to justice and his unwavering belief in the inherent goodness of humanity, I was inspired to confront my own biases and to stand up for what is right, even in the face of adversity.

One of the most profound lessons I learned from "To Kill a Mockingbird" is the importance of empathy and understanding. Through the eyes of the character Scout Finch, a young girl growing up in the turbulent 1930s, I gained a deeper appreciation for the challenges faced by marginalised communities and the need to bridge the divides that separate us. Scout's innocence and her willingness to challenge societal norms taught me to question preconceived notions and to seek out the truth, even if it is uncomfortable or inconvenient.

The book's enduring message of hope and resilience has also been a source of inspiration in my own life. Atticus's unwavering belief in the power of education and his determination to instil in his children a sense of justice and compassion have resonated deeply with me. His unwavering commitment to his principles, even in the face of overwhelming opposition, has served as a guiding light for me in my own pursuit of personal integrity and social justice.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee has been more than just a book to me. To me, it is a testament to the power of literature to inspire, challenge, and transform. It has shaped my understanding of the world, ignited my passion for social justice, and instilled in me the courage to stand up for what I believe in. As I will move ahead in life, navigating the complexities of daily chores, personal and professional life, I know that the lessons I learned from Atticus Finch and the unique characters of "To Kill a Mockingbird" will continue to guide me, reminding me to always strive for a better world.

Essay on My Favourite Book in English for Children and Students

Essay About My Favourite Book

Reading my favourite book is like a magical journey into a world of exciting places and wonderful characters. I love my favourite book because it taught me the importance of friendship, adventures in life and some important life lessons. The protagonist in the story of my favourite book discovers special abilities while embarking on his journey of self-discovery. I aspire to do the same in my life. The story had lots of twists and turns and the protagonist had to show resilience and courage to sail through. I learnt about courage, loyalty, and friendship from this main character.

After reading my favourite book, my life changed a lot. I started seeing the world with a sense of wonder, and it influenced how I made my life choices. I became wiser at making important decisions in my everyday life. My favourite book and its main character served as an inspiration for me and turned me into someone who is now more open to welcoming life’s challenges and adventures.

My Favourite Book Essay in English for Class 10:

My favourite book is ‘Malgudi Days’ by R. K. Narayan. This literal masterpiece exhibits the simplistic rural life in India. Through the course of the 32 stories, it captures the essence of small-town life, where the ordinary becomes extraordinary through Narayan's keen observations. I find it wonderful that the stories, set against the backdrop of a fictional South Indian town, delve into the lives of its diverse inhabitants, showcasing the beauty found in the mundane.

The book iterates universal themes and is an absolute delight to read. It is like a reservoir of valuable life wisdom. The culture of India exhibited through the stories, and the complex characters with their mundane lives make this book worth reading. As I navigate through its stories, the beauty inherent in ordinary everyday life resonates with me deeply. The author, R. K. Narayan is adept at storytelling and emphasizes the profound lessons that could be learnt through the various characters of the story. The life’s intricacies are depicted through the rural lens and the diverse stories with different characters make it my all-time favourite book to read. Each time, when I want to get lost in the nuances of these beautiful fictional characters, the old societal dynamics, human relationships etc. I read this book.

In the present modern world, which is rapidly changing, my favourite book, ‘Malgudi Days’ serves as a poignant reminder of enduring human experiences which is the result of the simplistic life led by the characters. I believe his book will keep on resonating with its readers across generations. As modern society grapples with the challenges of complex lifestyles and fast-paced living, the narratives in ‘Malgudi Days’ encourage a pause to reflect on the significance of human connections, the value of simplicity, and the importance of embracing the ordinary joys of life.

My Favourite Book Essay Harry Potter:

My all-time favourite book to read is ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ by J. K. Rowling. This book is considered one of the classics and captivates readers from all age groups around the globe. When I first read this enchanting book, I was lost in the intricate magical world of Hogwarts. The book stirs up my imagination and becomes like a timeless gateway into a world of wonder. I also love J. K. Rowling’s distinctive writing style. She weaves the themes of friendship, courage, and the battle between good and evil so effortlessly. My favourite character from the novel is ‘Harry Potter’ who is also the protagonist of the story. Whenever I sit alone to read this book, the transformative journey of Harry Potter gives me false hope of some magical world. I get completely absorbed in the world of wizards and magical creatures. In my opinion, the author has artistically fabricated the world of magic where everything is possible through the means of magical spells.

One of the most prominent themes that runs throughout the course of the book is the theme of friendship. I enjoyed reading about the friendship which is exhibited between Harry, Ron, and Hermione. These three characters share a genuine friendship and the importance of forming genuine connections is emphasized by the author. It is through means of genuine bonds, that we can hope to overcome difficulties in life.

There are several other themes which are highlighted in my favourite book. The theme of courage which is exhibited by my favourite character, ‘Harry’ instils confidence in my mind as well. When Harry fights the three-headed dog to save his friends. I learnt how controlling fear can help us triumph over anything. The book also teaches us that good always wins over evil. The protagonist Harry also has a face-to-face incident with Lord Voldemort who is projected as the lord of darkness and evil. The book traces the complexities of morality and also reiterates the fact that humans always stand on the winning side if they are able to make the right choices and decisions. I often related to this theme mentioned in the book strongly as I get reminded of how worthy it is to have a strong, resilient mind to make the right choices for oneself in everyday life. There is an intricate description of magical landscapes in my favourite book of Harry Potter. The author has elaborated on the rich details of Hogwarts Castle, Diagon Alley and the Forbidden Forest. The humour, mystery, wonder and suspense created throughout the book is enough to captivate the minds of the readers. The witty dialogues and clever wordplay contribute to the overall enjoyment of the book. Whenever I read this book, I instantly get engaged in the unfolding plot even though I have read this book many times. The charm and wit of the main characters can entertain the reader over and over again.

I love reading this book because it has taught me to love magic within the ordinary and to never stop believing in the extraordinary. In my opinion, the book, ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone’ should be read by people who are deeply interested in learning core human values through the means of a magical world and its fictional characters.

150-Word Short Stories

*NO AI TRAINING

Although I primarily write novels , magazine articles, and essays, several years ago, I started writing very short stories, all of them exactly 150 words long, as a fun way to keep my fiction writing skills from getting rusty. It was also great to be able to write a story from start to finish in just an hour or so. Some of these stories are posted on this blog page . I’ve also included a few of my favorites below.

If you enjoy reading my 150-word stories, please also consider reading one of my books , and telling others about them, too.

Outside the funeral home, I heard a boy say that she had fallen off the back of her boyfriend’s motorcycle. Broken her neck. She never knew what hit her, he said. I was 13. The dead girl had been a junior in high school.

The line to see her snaked around the building. Boys with long hair, wearing ties they’d borrowed from their fathers, and girls with thick blue eyeshadow smoked cigarettes in the parking lot. Someone passed a bottle of Jack. There were no adults there, just very old kids.

She almost looked like she was sleeping, except that she was too still. There was a puffiness to her face that didn’t seem quite right. They had dressed her for the prom; the crinoline sleeves of her gown like poofs of pink cotton candy. Some kids prayed, but I couldn’t. I just stared at the roses in her corsage.

“Come on! It’s starting!” Greg, my neighbor, hollered from the sidewalk.

“What’s starting?” I said. Behind him, groups of kids hurried down the street.

We’d moved to the neighborhood just weeks before. I was shy; a bookworm, waiting for school to start. Greg was the only kid I’d met.

“The magic show!” said Greg, exasperated. “At Mr. Hale’s house!”

At the end of the Hales’ dirt driveway, rows of kids were seated on the grass.

White-haired and very thin, Mr. Hale wore a black top-hat and tails. In his hand he gripped a wand, producing doves from an urn. He asked for a volunteer to be sawed in half. I raised my hand. No one breathed.

“Just relax,” Mr. Hale whispered. “There’s nothing to it.” I got into the box and held my breath.

A collective gasp went up. And when I emerged in one piece, I was a star.

Cat in the Wall

“How’d he get in there?” said Amy, peering into the opening in the basement wall with her hands cupped around her eyes.

“Got me,” I said, taking a look. Barney, our 18-pound Maine Coon, peered up at me with his yellow eyes. The cat had squeezed his massive frame through an opening in the wall that an animal half his size would have had trouble with. He was trapped.

“What are we going to do?” said Amy. “We can’t just leave him there.”

A metallic aroma, the scent of panic, perfumed the damp cellar air. She was right. We couldn’t leave him. But we wouldn’t get him out without tearing down the wall, and we were only summer tenants.

The cat let out a mournful meow.

“Barney’s going to die!” Amy cried.

So, I brushed the tears away from her little cheeks and grabbed the hammer from the toolbox.

Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover Essay

500 words essay on don’t judge a book by its cover.

Often in life, you must have heard, ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’. The phrase is self-explanatory and has a deep meaning behind it. It means that we must not underestimate anyone based on their looks. In fact, the deeds and characters of the person matter the most. Thus, don’t judge a book by its cover essay will help us understand its meaning.

don't judge a book by its cover essay

Why Should We Never Judge a Book by Its Cover

There are many reasons why we must never judge a book by its cover. This first one is that you know nothing about someone just by their outward appearance. It should never be the judge of someone’s character.

For instance, if you look at a good-looking person, you can only see their skin colour, physical traits, and maybe fashion. But what about beyond that? You cannot solely make up your mind on their outward appearance.

What if the good-looking person turns out to be horrible in nature? What if they lack any real talent or skill? Thus, you see how outward appearances can be misleading. They are basically valueless things so never judge someone on their face value.

On the other hand, something which may not possess beautiful features may have much more value than something beautiful. In other words, the appearance of someone is not equivalent to their worth. Thus, we must judge the person on the basis of their personality and capabilities and not merely external appearance.

To help you understand the phrase better, let us take a look at a story with the same moral. Once, there was a woman who was going on a train journey but forgets her wallet at home. While waiting for the train, she goes to a restaurant.

With the little change she has left, she orders the cheapest meal, a plate of rice and goes to the washroom. Upon returning, she notices a shabbily-dressed man sitting on the table eating from the plate of rice.

This infuriates her thinking he stole her plate but she does not say anything. She starts to eat from the same plate out of spite. The man gets up and leaves. However, soon the lady realizes that she left her belongings on another table.

That table had her plate of rice kept untouched and she realizes she was eating from that man’s plate but he did not say anything to her. Thus, she realizes how she judged him for being a thief because of his clothing when in reality, she was eating from his plate.

Conclusion of  Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover Essay

To conclude, it is not right to assess people on the basis of their appearance. Some people take a look at the cover of a book and feel that the designer colour and fancy text may mean it is better than a plain book. However, that does not happen, the inside of the book maybe not what you expected, so never judge a book or person by its cover.

FAQ of Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover Essay

Question 1: Why you should not judge a book by its cover?

Answer 1: We must never judge a book by its cover as looks can be deceptive. Forming opinions solely on the basis of seeing the surface is wrong. It is because after taking a deeper look can we understand what the other person is.

Question 2: Who first said Don’t judge a book by its cover?

Answer 2: This phrase attributes to a 1944 edition of the African Journal American Speech which said ‘You can’t judge a book by its binding’. It went on to gain more popularity in the 1946 murder mystery ‘Murder in the Glass Room’ which stated ‘You can never tell a book by its cover.
