Word Nerds

Your company anniversary speech can be an excellent opportunity to connect with clients, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders at your celebratory event. Based on my experience writing many of these speeches, here are some ideas of what to include in your company anniversary speech.

Use stories in your company anniversary speech.

A good point to begin is to start collecting stories to include in your company anniversary speech. Foundation stories from the early days of the business can highlight your company’s formative years and values. Stories about overcoming challenges show the human face of the business.  In addition, use stories about significant milestones and successes in your company anniversary speech to create a narrative about the development of the business and its ethos.

How do you find relevant stories for your company anniversary speech? If you are new with the organisation, getting stories will require research. Interviews with the founders and current and past employees are often essential to uncovering interesting stories. Research can also include searching the archives (if they exist) and finding news articles about the business online or in libraries.

Welcome guests attending the company anniversary event.

You can begin by welcoming VIPs and special guests to the event. These might include government representatives, company founders and key suppliers. You could also welcome spouses and other family members who are attending, as well as guests who have travelled long distances to participate in the festivities.

Don’t be afraid to include humour in your company anniversary speech.

Every organisation has funny stories from its past. Finding and using these stories in your company anniversary speech will help you connect with the audience and highlight the organisation’s personality. Your research can include speaking with some of the ‘old timers’ to discover some of the funny things that happened in the past.  Remember to avoid humorous stories that could make your organisation or staff look bad.

Show your gratitude during the anniversary speech.

Your company anniversary speech is the perfect time to thank the people and organisations that have played a role in helping your business grow and succeed. You also can thank the people who participated in organising the event. It’s also nice to thank the service staff, entertainers and others who made the event possible.

Look to the future.

Besides looking at the past, your company anniversary speech should also look to the future. This could include your vision for the future and how employees and stakeholders can play a part in making it happen. Your focus on the future can make a powerful speech ending by inspiring people to build on the foundation created since the establishment of the company.

Your company anniversary speech is an excellent opportunity for your organisation to review its past and inspire for the future. Including the elements outlined above will help you create company anniversary speech that connects with the audience and boosts your organisation’s image.

What to Say in a Company Anniversary Speech: Ideas and Tips

As an emcee for company anniversary events, one of my key responsibilities is to introduce the individuals who will be delivering the company anniversary speech. However, it is not uncommon for these speakers to seek my guidance on what to say and how to deliver their speeches effectively.

Celebrating a corporate anniversary with an event is a great opportunity, but the main speech is a responsibility. If you are preparing your speech, I will provide some ideas and tips to assist you.

1. Reflect on the Company’s Journey

A company anniversary is a significant milestone that calls for reflection on the journey and achievements of the organization. That’s why you should highlight key milestones, challenges overcome, and successes achieved throughout the years. This will help create a sense of pride among the audience.

2. Acknowledge and Appreciate Employees

A company anniversary speech is an ideal opportunity to express gratitude and appreciation for the employees’ hard work and dedication. This is an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of individuals and teams, highlighting their commitment and the role they played in the company’s growth and success.

3. Share Success Stories

Success stories are powerful tools to inspire and motivate the audience. To do this, share specific examples of projects, initiatives, or individuals who have made a significant impact on the company’s success. These stories should highlight the values and culture of the organization.

4. Discuss Future Goals and Vision

A company anniversary speech should not only focus on past achievements but also look towards the future. It’s the moment to discuss the company’s vision, goals, and plans for the future. This will instill confidence in the audience and create excitement for what lies ahead.

5. Connect with the Audience

Effective communication is about connecting with the audience on an emotional level. That’s why you should share personal anecdotes, experiences, or challenges they you faced during their journey with the company. This will help create a genuine connection with the audience and make the speech more relatable.

6. Use Visual Aids

Visual aids such as slides or videos can enhance the impact of a company anniversary speech. Incorporate relevant visuals that support your key points or showcase memorable moments from the company’s history. However, it is important to ensure that these visual aids are not overpowering and do not distract from your message.

7. Practice and Rehearse

Delivery is as important as the content itself. I suggest you to practice and rehearse your speech to ensure a confident and engaging delivery. Some good techniques are recording yourself, seeking feedback from trusted colleagues, or even engaging in public speaking courses to improve your presentation skills.

8. Keep it Concise and Engaging

A company anniversary speech should be concise and engaging to hold the audience’s attention. Keep your speech within a reasonable time limit and avoid unnecessary jargon or technical details. You should aim to deliver a speech that is both informative and enjoyable for the audience.

9. End on a Positive Note

End your speech on a positive and inspiring note. It’s the moment to express your optimism for the future, thank the audience for their support, and leave the attendees with a sense of pride and excitement about the company’s journey ahead.

Remember, each company anniversary speech is unique, and it is important to tailor the content and delivery to the specific audience and company culture. These ideas and tips will help you in delivering a memorable and impactful speech that celebrate the company’s achievements and inspire the audience.

Corporate Anniversary Messages for the Milestone: Things to Think About for Your Anniversary Message Plan

September 6, 2018 • Jason Dressel

This article was originally posted in September 2012, but updated in September 2018.

Any corporation that is planning to mark an important milestone—whether 10 years or 150—needs to ensure that the messaging around the program is effective . Because corporate anniversaries are recognized at most every five or 10 years, and more likely every 25 or 50 years, it’s not like other marketing and communication programs, but instead something outside of the normal course of business. Anniversaries require specialist skills, experience in “anniversary marketing,” and above all a healthy dose of imagination. The possibilities afforded by what for many employees is a once-in-a-lifetime corporate occasion are huge. So when starting to think about the messaging for the anniversary, it’s important to start from your current message strategy, and then build outwards. After all, company anniversaries are opportune times to really drive home your key messages to core stakeholders about the brand and the company .

Commemoration, Not Celebration

First off, the  tone  needs to be right .  Understandably, many executives tend to approach a company anniversary as a celebration, a time to shout from the rooftops about how great the company has been over the past however many years. Just bear in mind that not everyone feels like it’s party time—not if company results are lagging or headwinds are leading to cost-cutting. Many organizations arrive at an anniversary shortly after they’ve had to face various business challenges.

Company anniversaries are fixed items in the calendar, but results and behaviors are far more fluid. There may have been layoffs or at least some significant form of cost-cutting. And even if the organization has handled economic troubles better than most, consider the mindset of target audiences: employees, customers, vendors and communities. An overemphasis on celebration and success could be off-note if some of those constituencies have been going through hard times.

A few years ago, a client in the financial services industry considered doing an anniversary celebration “old school,” with an over-the-top gala at a world-renowned cultural institution. They envisioned the event as a way to bring together industry leaders, clients and other VIPs the way they used to gather in the “old days.” Fortunately, more practical approaches prevailed. The potential for negative PR was simply too great.

The point is this: Think “commemoration” as much as “celebration” when considering the tone for your corporate anniversary Commemorating is a broader positioning that can bring in the sub-messages of appreciation, recognition, achievement and, of course, celebration. All together, these messages will resonate more with core audiences than simply a celebratory tone, and they will give anyone planning their corporate anniversary the ability to adjust the emphasis based on recent realities.

You Can’t Have Every Message

Client who are embarking on anniversary planning commonly want to bundle every positive message about their company into the program. They want to portray their company as innovative, future-oriented, caring and compassionate, part of the community, founded on traditional values and beliefs, customer-centric, employee-centric, shareholder-centric, poised for growth and growth-oriented, and on and on. While having a series of key messages is vital, a kitchen sink approach can be detrimental.

Imagine cramming every message to every constituent into a single advertisement. You wouldn’t expect that messaging strategy to yield good copy, and you can’t expect an approach that tries to be all things to everyone to actually work. The key is to pare down the number of messages to a manageable handful that give focus to your company’s story and meaning to your anniversary activities.

Sometimes, narrowing down messages can be challenging, as is often the case when different members of the anniversary planning team have differing views. Try establishing a framework for primary and secondary messaging. Look at each message in terms of a few factors:

  • Is it “new news” to the target audience?
  • Is it compelling and aligned with how we need that audience to perceive our company during our anniversary?
  • Is it consistent with our recent and planned messaging?
  • Is it true? Can it be validated?

Establishing criteria and asking members of a planning team to rank the impact of specific messages can help yield a viable framework.

Milestone Messages That Can Be “Proof Pointed”

Everyone loves to talk about “proof points.” A common challenge we see with a company’s anniversary message plan is that  the history of the organization doesn’t actually support the message.

Let me give you an example: Recently, we met with a company that had already done a fair amount of work on their company’s anniversary plan and were prepared to take their recommendations to the CEO. The planning team had put together some solid goals for the anniversary and had concluded that their primary audiences were employees, customers and their local communities. When we asked them about key messaging for these audiences, they immediately emphasized innovation.

While the company has certainly been a successful innovator of products, its true innovation is in how it built a customer-centric culture that encourages client retention and justifies a higher price point.

Although innovation remained important, the team realized that it wasn’t as meaningful in the context of the anniversary. They modified their messages to emphasize differentiating cultural attributes that could be conveyed effectively in the anniversary program and would resonate with employees, customers and communities.

Test Messages Prior to the Company Anniversary

Message testing with a target audience is considered standard practice when thinking about advertising and external communications. This testing is often neglected for corporate anniversaries. However, surveys or discussion groups provide the team with a few benefits:

  • Preventing major missteps. “Ivory tower” executives may not understand how rank-and-file employees or vendors perceive the company and therefore push messages that backfire. A few years ago, a client asked for help revitalizing a stale brand identity. Management wanted to highlight how the company was not just innovative but also put employees first. Unfortunately, we learned that employees felt that the “old regime” had put profits before people, operated with outdated management methods, and offered no flexibility or modern benefits. Armed with this insight, management began taking concrete steps to ensure employees were heard by setting up team advisory panels and monthly “lunch with the CEO” sessions.
  • Benchmarking your corporate anniversary goals . If you establish metrics for key messages, you have a basis for judging the effectiveness of anniversary program. And while you probably won’t repeat your corporate anniversary program annually, the outcomes can help with future messaging strategies and planning.
  • Refining message platforms. Having input from key stakeholders can often help narrow down the message options and ensure that team members are on the same page.

Create a Unique Theme

In general, we’re big fans of anniversary themes. A theme ties together anniversary communications and activities. It provides a focus point and rallying cry for all your activities. It becomes part of your corporate anniversary identity.

Here’s a good litmus test for whether you have a good theme: Could one of your competitors use the same theme, with their name replacing yours?

If the answer is yes, then go back to the drawing board! The anniversary theme should capture an organization’s unique essence. Look for specific words or events from your history so the theme and messaging have real stories and substance behind them.

Many of our clients’ best anniversary themes have been inspired by real and authentic stories that we uncovered through research. In fact, the very best anniversary themes and messages live beyond the anniversary year because they are such an authentic portrayal of the organization and brand. While messaging matters, so does the theme that unites the program. Let your creativity flourish!

speech on 1st anniversary of a company

CEO's FIRST YEAR ANNIVERSARY MESSAGE

This month marks the first anniversary of NESR, and I wanted to look back at the last twelve months to highlight the progress the company has made with your efforts. We are almost halfway through 2019 and I am very proud of what we have achieved together and wanted to take this opportunity to share with you some thoughts and key areas of focus as we move forward in our exciting journey.

NESR today is the national champion of the region. Our esteemed customers recognize the differentiated value we bring to them in terms of superior service delivery, innovative solutions and responsiveness to their needs. They also recognize our contribution to the local industry and the larger society. We need to continue to build on their trust and demonstrate with clear actions, our strong belief in developing local talent and be the most reliable and trusted advisor for their operations.

I would like to congratulate you for the prompt integration efforts. We co-located in all the countries and are working together to optimize and streamline our support functions. We need to complete this effort by year end resulting in a companywide ERP system, improve utilization across segments and countries, share best practices and chose the most effective tool regardless of the originator. The overall market will continue to get more competitive, and we absolutely need to continuously improve to stay ahead of the competition and achieve our goals.

We grew at a much faster pace than the market. We accomplished almost 30% YOY growth and our aspiration is to double the company size every couple of years. Together we can achieve our goals when we continue to work as one team, build on the segments’ portfolio and the country organizations take an active approach to support the new product lines entrants. We need to deploy technology innovations tailored for customer needs, be close to the customer in the field and at their offices, listen to them, present technical solutions and leverage our technology partners and continue to seek support from our SME’s. We have established an incredibly talented group of SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) to ensure they are ready to travel to your location, meet your customer and give credible solutions to our client’s challenges.

Our core values remain the guiding principles for everything we do, and I would like to emphasize two fundamental beliefs which drive the success of our operations:

Safety : As we keep on reiterating, Safety is our number one priority and no compromises or allowances should be made for anything when it comes to ensuring our employees return safely to their loved ones. Safety is part of our life and should define our way of thinking and our actions. Whether it is permit to work, going to the well site, driving in the city or in the field, going home, looking how to improve the safety of our family, learning from the operations and passing to the society around us, or educating our parents it should permeate every part of what we do and effect. As the industry aspire to goal zero, we need to always be at forefront and leadership impacting not only the operations but our surroundings. Quality : NESR is known for its excellent service delivery across the region. We need to be passionate and paranoid of exceeding our clients’ expectations. We aim to and need to pleasantly surprise them with our punctual delivery, motivated crews in the field, fit for purpose equipment and the highest standard of everything we do from maintenance at the base to flawless execution at the well site. All of us contribute to this image of impeccable service delivery and I would like all of us to accept nothing but the top position in every segment in every country.

As I keep on saying to every location I visit, we should all be proud of our achievements and be confident in who we are, our future is extremely bright and exciting. Working together as one team and by being closer to our customers, we will exceed our goals.

Finally, I would like to wish you and your families a very blessed and exceptional second half of the year and extend my sincere gratitude for being part of this very inspiring journey.

Anniversary speech for the company 1.

Warm greetings to all the Ladies and gentlemen as well as distinguished guests present over here! I would like to welcome all of you to our event and I hope you will enjoy being a part of it.  Anniversaries are the opportunities to recollect our year gone memories and to cherish them again.

Tonight we are celebrating our company’s 15th anniversary and I value you all who are sharing this special day with me. It is rightly said that it doesn’t matter where you go in your life, but what matters the most is whom you have beside you all the way. It’s a pleasure for me to invite you all to the milestone dinner of ________’s 15th anniversary. 2003 was a notable year for us for many reasons. We initiated this organization with the blessings of our Mom, Dad and Almighty. It’s due to their blessings that we have expanded our organization to this extent that we are celebrating 15 years of its commencement.

My first task was to paint a picture of where I wanted to take my business and my employees have equally contributed to making this day possible.  Our healthy organization started with the incorporation of core human values, such as Trust, Integrity, and Teamwork. I have always tried my level best to offer my employees with better business, flexible work culture and perfect learning atmosphere.

These 15 years can be defined as a kaleidoscope of happy and best memories of my life, new friendship and relationships. I have found my new friends in terms of my employees who have worked day and night to make this day possible for me. Over the last fifteen years, this business has undergone massive changes like restructuring, globalization etc but our organization has become stronger and efficient than ever before. I have had my employees who were, are and will always be my intellectual assets that have always stood by my side. I am lucky to have such a fantastic team of dedicated and loyal employees.

What I have learned in these 15 years is that the businesses and employees know what they need and want and they are willing to tell only if the owner listens. This is the change I brought in my personality. I started listening hard to my business and employees; I started getting engaged in conversations with you for learning and possibility, and find new ways of solving problems. Of course, there have been so many paths that were slightly difficult for me but you guys have helped me a lot in those odd stumbling blocks. This is all because of your constant support and blessings that have made this journey possible.

On this auspicious day, I promise all my employees to be friendly and supportive to them as I have been in these past years. I promise to help you all whenever necessary. So let’s look forward to another amazing year with strong professional relationships even further and to take this company to reach greater heights. As we all took time to express gratitude and to celebrate these fantastic 15 years gone by, let’s turn eagerly to the years that lie ahead. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for being a part of this special day. We are grateful to you for taking your time out from your busy schedules and to help us in making our 15th anniversary, more memorable.

Huge thanks to all!

Anniversary Speech for the Company 2

A warm welcome to all the guests, friends, relatives and of course to our young and dynamic employees! I thank all the esteemed personalities who have taken their time out to attend this occasion.

It’s a matter of great pride to see our company growing, embracing good value system and achieving more than what we have ever thought of. There is a set of people whom I would want to thank on this auspicious day from the bottom of my heart. First of all, our present and ex-employees who have worked to help this organization to the zenith of success. I take pride in saying that we have the best and extraordinary employees with equally high aspirations and dreams. They have worked against all the odds that occurred in these 20 years to make what seemed impossible, possible. Our company has become a shining example amongst the leading organization in our country that has created quality income jobs in the city.

So my friends, by celebrating this 20th year of our company________ we are celebrating the success of our employees, their wives, and children who have sacrificed significantly. I congratulate all my employees who have worked hard and waited for days to obtain part of their own hard-earned salaries.

Trust is the glue that holds the relationships together and I knew I have fulfilled my promise of staying transparent with my investors, partners and employees. I promise to go on and on with all my promises and pledges. For me, trust has two parts, one is the ability to believe in others and another is being trustworthy to others. For a successful business, it is important to take both the sides together hand in hand. I have the most reliable dependable and predictable employees who are benevolent enough to put aside their self-interests. The best way to make things happen is through the deep understanding of employee’s needs and aspirations that can be achieved by the perfect blend of demand winning performance and compassionate side for the employees.

Often, I have been asked as to what is the reason behind the success of our company ________ and what’s its biggest strength is and I always have one impromptu reply: My employees. To all the new and old employees, I would say that a team can perform best only when it is united. I am extremely proud of my team and I can wholeheartedly say that I have the best human resources in my organization.

Before I conclude, I want to say that the road ahead will be challenging, as unpredictability will continue to rule, but I will continue to motivate you all to strengthen your capabilities to understand yourself in a better way.

Last but not the least, I have to thank my wife and mom for the immense pillar of support, they have been. Thank you for standing behind me and help me in fighting against all the odds, thick and thin, travel and travails. I have no words to express my gratitude for your relentless support. Your contribution is worth more than diamonds for me.

Thank you for your attention and please enjoy the 20th anniversary celebration of our company.

Anniversary Speech for the Company 3

Good Morning everyone – I warmly welcome you all on the occasion of our company anniversary and for having successfully completing 10 years.

So on today’s occasion, I would like to say few words. Companies are like families. We build them with all our heart, putting our blood and sweat into it with solely one purpose to fulfil, that is to make it grow and flourish. In a family, we take care of each other’s wellbeing and make sure that everything functions smoothly. Similarly, we all are a family. Here, we all take care of each other, take care of the responsibilities we have so that we all, together can make our dream come true. The dream of taking our company to the list of the best companies in the country, the dream of making it a company which is known for its quality products, quality services and commitment towards work. Today, on this fortunate day of us completing one more successful year, I, the _____ of the company is feeling extremely proud to say that we are constantly getting closer to our bigger dreams as we make the smaller ones true, one by one.

In all these years which have passed, we have seen it all – success and failures, highs and lows, celebrations and crisis, everything. But one thing which we never did was to ‘give up’. This, go getter attitude, our faith in each other and our commitment towards the company are the factors which have brought us where we are. I would never have been able to picture this successful journey without you people. My employees have always been my strength and backbone to the company.

For the entire year, we work like workaholics. Extending working hours, early logins to the systems, working from home and what not, we have done it all when work has demanded. But today is a day to enjoy, it’s a day to celebrate our dedication, our passion towards our work and the vision of perfection in everything we have been assigned. It’s a day, I owe to all of you. So let’s turn our party mode on and party like no one is watching. Let all your targets, files, deals and every other tension be on side for these few hours and congratulate yourself and each other for having been able to achieve so much. This is your day; our day and we will make it memorable forever.

Let’s make this day a treat for yourself and a reservoir of energy for the coming days so that our chariot of victory doesn’t stop here but goes on for years. Many more anniversaries, many more success stories and many more achievements are yet to come our way. Till then, let’s just keep up the good work and keep aspiring for more. As they say “those who dream big, achieve big”. So let’s not stop ourselves from dreaming, let’s not settle for less, let’s not restrict ourselves to what is conventional and let’s not let the failures discourage us.

Keep experimenting, keep growing and keep celebrating. A very happy annual day to all of you! Let’s start the celebration with big cheers to all of us!

Anniversary Speech for the Company 4

Warm Greetings to all of you! Welcome to our company anniversary speech!

I still remember the day when I had started this company with just a handful of people and a very limited amount of resources. Starting from there till today, the company has covered a long and evolutionary journey. Years back, we had started with millions of dreams, hope and immense enthusiasm and today when we are celebrating another year of its birth nothing has changed, except the fact that we have made our dreams true and have the new ones now.

Since the inception we have been adding on to everything we have, the manpower, list of achievements, areas we deal in and even to the enthusiasm and dedication we have for our work and responsibilities. This is obviously an amazing sign for any organization. This positivity has been reflecting clearly in our growth rates ever since the beginning. As they say, “slow and steady wins the race”, we might not have been on the list of the most rapidly growing company, but it has undoubtedly been one of the most steadily growing companies.

My employees have always been my true assets. Without you all, the company would have been nothing. This happy occasion will remain incomplete if I do not raise a toast to you guys. The credit of achieving all that we have, getting the chance to stand here today and talk about all this and being able to earn the huge customer base that we have, goes to nobody else but you people. Not every day I get the chance to interact with you guys and pour my heart out but today when I have got one, I would like to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you all for being there with the company in the bad times and showing your patience and support when it was needed the most.

Today, when we have completed one more successful year, let’s celebrate for being able to make a significant space for ourselves in the market and hope to keep achieving new milestones and beat our own records. Let’s take a pledge that we are not going to restrict ourselves to only this but make and achieve new bench marks in the industry. I not only hope but strongly believe that we together can make anything happen. All we need to do is to believe in ourselves and our mates, to support each other and direct our talent and energies to the right direction.

On this note, let’s end this chit chat and let the celebration begin! Let’s give a huge round of applause to our unity and efforts. Cheers to this happy occasion, cheers to all of you and cheers to the company we have been nourishing like a baby! Wish you all the very best for the coming challenges and tasks and always remember, together we can make anything happen. Unity has the power to fight back every hurdle on our way.

Let’s party hard and get refreshed for a new tomorrow my dear all!

How to Celebrate Your Business Anniversary: a Plan and 20+ Ideas for B2B Companies

What does our company Logit have in common with SpaceX, Linkedin, and GoPro? In 2020, we all celebrate being 18 years in business! To mark the occasion, we’re bringing you strategic advice on how to plan and celebrate your corporate birthday.

Need website content writing services for your business anniversary?

Celebrating your corporate anniversary is one of the better ways to communicate your experience and reliability without having to say “look how experienced and reliable we are”.

You may have already googled for inspiration and probably found ample advice aimed at B2C companies and consumer brands, such as:

“Create an advertising campaign, offer your customers a discount, and advertise it everywhere.”

Offering discounts seems inappropriate for many B2B companies, but you do want to honor your customers and other valued people. Where’s all the advice on celebrating corporate anniversaries specifically tailored to B2B companies? And what if you’d like to do something different this year?

We’ve done the research, read the dozens of articles on the topic, and organized the best ideas so that you don’t waste your time preparing for your special day. Enjoy, and happy business birthday to you!

Strategic Planning of Corporate Birthday (Lots of Examples!)

There are four steps in the anniversary planning process:

Step ONE: decide WHOM you want to celebrate

Step two: decide how you want to celebrate, small and not too loud, throw a party, launch something new, create an exclusive gift for customers, sponsor a charity, sponsor a popular event, become someone’s patron for a year, participate in other people’s events, step three: prepare promotional materials.

  • Press Release
  • Blog Posts / Articles / News

Landing Page

A minisite (mini website), a book, digital or printed, anniversary edition of your logo, social media posts, email newsletter, step four: execute on the promotion, step one: decide whom you want to celebrate.

Strategy

Do you want to focus your celebration on yourself or on others?

Focusing on yourself means putting your own company in the spotlight and bringing your biggest achievements and important activities into the light. Since it’s your company’s birthday, nobody will think ill of you if you take this opportunity to be a little me, me, me / we, we, we for a change.

Focusing on others means putting your customers, your employees, your partners, your vendors, and other friendly groups in the center of your celebration. This is when you use your birthday as an opportunity to celebrate other people’s achievements, help others reach their goals, or simply let everyone relax and have fun.

Both approaches are valid and make sense, but you have to choose one direction and let it strategically drive your activities. Set the most appropriate goal:

  • If you’re focusing on yourself: your goal could be to have as many people hear about your birthday as it makes sense.
  • If you’re focusing on others: your goal could be to help them achieve what they told you they want.

Don’t make your company’s birthday about generating leads or making money, unless you're Coca Cola or some other huge consumer brand whose birthday campaigns drive immediate purchases. Move your focus away from signups and downloads and form submissions and inbound calls (but do measure them). Achieve your goals and the precious leads will come later as a result of a properly executed celebration.

Step TWO: Decide HOW You Want to Celebrate

Party

What do you want to DO for your celebration? How BIG do you want to make it?

Choose one thing, bigger or smaller, to do this year. It’s easier to focus your promotional efforts on only one thing. Here’s what we found that other B2B companies usually do.

If there’s not enough time this year to prepare for anything bigger, do something small:

  • Print physical cards as an expression of gratitude and snail-mail them to all your customers. Remember, no selling, no pitching! Just say something sincere like “thank you for giving us your business” and maybe have the CEO manually sign all the cards.
  • Design a digital ‘Thank you for your business’ card and email it to your customers.
  • Write a celebratory blog post in which you talk about your most memorable moments. This is what SpaceX wrote for their 10th birthday in 2012 . If you're struggling with writing that post or simply need some inspiration, download our template for writing company anniversary blog posts .

Got a week or two to prepare? Why not have a party:

  • Organize a party for employees in the office. Make it sweeter with a nice birthday cake and have employees take photos. Publish the photo album on Facebook or Instagram, the two social networks perfect for such occasions.
  • Throw a huge public party with music, dancing, finger food and cocktails - or whatever is closest to your business culture. Invite all your customers and business partners. If you love parties but hate organizing them, consider outsourcing the work to an event planning agency.

Not a party animal? Not a problem. If your company’s 5th / 10th / 25th / whichevereth birthday is near, celebrate it by showing your creative side and making a big buzz about a new project:

  • Launch that experiment you’ve been working on, but for which you never found enough push to complete it (hard deadlines usually do wonders). Do you have innovative, success-hungry employees to who you never gave enough chance to prove themselves? Have them complete their ideas by the time to celebrate your corporate birthday. Show to the public that you’re celebrating your birthday by launching employee-initiated innovations.
  • If you’re a service company, consider launching a product, and vice versa (launch a service if you offer products). Don’t be surprised if this results in new streams of income for you.
  • Launch a significant improvement to your product or service and tell the press about it. If you improve on something customers repeatedly asked for in the past, you may even get free social media buzz and free word of mouth.

Example: for their 10th birthday, Facebook launched a new feature for its customers, the personalized Look Back Video . This beloved feature was soon followed by more video features, such as personalized videos celebrating birthdays and friendships.

Again, don’t be afraid of failure. Your company is one year older and one year wiser. Experiments and new offerings are your way of telling the public that you’re not afraid to innovate.

Do you have the capacity to complete a larger digital or physical object? If yes, you could give it away as an exclusive present just in time for your corporate birthday. Here are a couple of ideas:

  • Your CEO wrote a book? Give away a digital copy to all your customers.
  • Just finished a research project for content marketing purposes? The public loves original data, give the research away. Consider not hiding the research behind a registration wall - it’s a gift after all, not a lead generation campaign.
  • If you’re one of the lucky B2B companies who are considered cool , use your coolness. Hire a designer to design unique posters . Have a photographer shoot stunning photos relevant to your industry. Commission a famous artist to draw a series of funny cartoons or caricatures. Invite the public to download, share, and print your cool stuff. Consider giving away your art by licensing it as public domain .
  • If you’re a huge enterprise celebrating a milestone anniversary, publish a fancy monograph celebrating your corporate values, your rich history, your industry, or the challenges you successfully overcame over the years. Give away a physical copy to your most valuable customers and partners. Unveil the monograph at a big fancy public event (the kind you invite the Mayor or the Prime Minister to).

Also, ask yourself this: What kind of gift would your customers appreciate? What could you create that would make them awesome at their jobs? What would they proudly display on their work desks? Is it possible to personalize this gift?

If you decide to focus on helping others achieve their goals, partner with a charity organization you already support or want to support. Here are a couple of guidelines for this:

  • Select the charity that matches your corporate values. For example, if you’re a technology company, work with an organization which promotes technology. Ask your employees to help you choose the charity to sponsor.
  • You don’t have to do everything yourself. Work with the chosen charity and ask them to organize some of the activities.

Here are a couple of ideas with industry examples:

  • A language industry company could help finance removing the language barriers. For example, finance social inclusion programs and language learning for refugees.
  • A business software company could finance courses and programs which help disadvantaged youth acquire digital skills.
  • A civil engineering company could support a local NGO looking to rennovate a beloved urban object, either by donating their engineering services, construction material, or by bringing in an architect and paying for their services.
  • A technology company could finance STEM projects run by startups, student organizations, or university staff members.

If there’s a relevant event happening in the same month as your business birthday, sponsor that event. Organize your promotion efforts so that they culminate in that month. Make sure that the event organizer promotes you well.

Sign a patronage contract with an individual, a specialized group, or a startup which you’d truly love to see succeed, or whose success is in your interest.

For example, an education startup in your city wants to educate young people in your field of expertise. Having educated employees at your disposal is in your direct interest, so you decide to either financially support this startup or donate some of your experts’ time to help this new startup succeed.

Such a program will require more planning and more activities from you, so make sure you can allocate enough resources for it.

Don’t have enough resources to organize your own event? Partner with others and use this opportunity to learn how to do it alone next year. Here’s what companies usually do:

  • Celebrate twin birthdays: your own, and another company’s who you’re friends with. Pool your marketing resources and maybe choose to do execute on some of the above ideas together. Two birthday cakes are better than one!
  • Participate in a sports competition. If a group of employees loves running or cycling or swimming, ask them if they would be willing to participate in an upcoming race as a team. Alternatively, organize a game of football (soccer) with another friendly company which is already organizing similar events.

Step THREE: Produce Promotional Materials

Produce Promotional Materials

You want the public to notice your celebration and for that you need as many marketing materials as you can produce.

The volume of your marketing materials should match the size of the birthday event you chose in the previous step: if you’re launching a huge improvement to your product or service, one commemorative blog post is not going to do you justice. The bigger your event and the more significant your birthday, the more content it makes sense to produce.

Here’s what companies usually produce.

Press Release / Announcement

A classic press release is mandatory if your business is announcing something newsworthy, original, unique, fun.

Consider hiring a PR agency to help you spread the news about your newsworthy business anniversary activities.

Blog Posts / Articles / News / Announcement

For your business anniversary announcement, you'll need one or (preferably) more business birthday blog posts. Plan the topics of those blog posts in advance by creating an outline of everything you want to say during your celebration.

If you need ideas and help with writing a business anniversary blog post fast, check out our worksheet for writing company anniversary blog posts .

Professionally-looking company anniversary videos are a great idea. For example, a video software company Animoto celebrates their birthdays by creating videos using their own tool.

Here's another example of Sofidel, a tissue paper company, celebrating 50 years with a short video that features their main product (toilet paper).

Make sure you don't miss the London Business School's inspirational 50th anniversary video that uses good visual storytelling to tell the story how the school's graduates made a huge impact on their local communities as well as the world at large.

A well-designed, thoughtfully written landing page within your current website, dedicated specifically to your company birthday, serves as a focal point for your celebration. It's a central page to which you drive traffic during your business anniversary campaign, and that holds all the media you produced in one place.

An example: although he doesn't do this for his birthday, but for another occasion, Bill Gates publishes an wonderful annual letter each year and publishes it in the form of a landing page with lots of content, data, graphics, answers and insights.

Take a look at this landing page for the 40th anniversary of Watermill , a private equity company. It features lots of retro photos for the company's past, a good dose of humor and spark, with not too much written content.

A mini website is a specifically designed website on a subdomain, in a subfolder, or on its own top-level domain. Choose to build a minisite if the content you produce will stay relevant for years to come.

One good example is Quantas' 100th anniversary , Australia's flag carrier airline. Anyone who loves aviation history will definitely appreciate this minisite full of photos and historical accounts. This minisite is an example of a well-designed and well-told timeline that you can also use for your company history page in general.

A special ebook or a printed book is great if you’re celebrating a huge milestone. Take a look at this 100-page ebook Bayer produced for their 150th birthday .

Consider making a special logo in which you show your company anniversary tagline or the number of years in business.

Here's a huge collection of hundreds of anniversary logos on Pinterest . There are some really creative solutions and anniversary logo design inspiration for you.

Make sure you use the logo in all the content you produce for your birthday. For example, you could design new social media covers in the same visual style, using the refreshed logo.

Write and design a series of company anniversary social media posts for all your social profiles (Linkedin, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram...) and have it promote the content you plan to produce.

If you've kept the habit of collecting and organizing corporate photos, you will be happy now because you get to use them, big time!

Even if you don't use Instagram, these examples and Instagram inspiration for business anniversary social media posts will help you design cool images for your social channels.

If you're more of a LinkedIn type, take a look at what people post on LinkedIn with #anniversary hashtag (you have to be logged in to LinkedIn for this link to work).

First, redesign your email newsletter template so that it looks celebratory. For example, you can use the anniversary logo in your newsletter throughout the entire year in which you celebrate your anniversary.

Second, write your email newsletter content in advance and schedule it for several weeks or months ahead. This way your loyal customers, who may not have heard from you for a while, or don't open each newsletter you send, won't miss the news about your birthday.

We made a collection on Pinterest of celebratory email newsletters for your inspiration. Email will work especially great if you're a product company.

Consider Hiring Professional Writers

If you're running out of time to write all these anniversary blog news, articles and landing pages, hire professional writers to help you create the content on time. Yes, outsourcing content writing to professionals outside your company is doable .

If you need help right now, check out our website content writing services .

Step FOUR: Execute on Promotion

Promote

Now that you see clearly how much content there is to produce, it’s time to open your calendar and schedule your content.

If this is your first time scheduling a greater volume of content, make it as simple as possible:

  • Decide when the celebration starts and when it ends. For example, let’s say that you’re planning all promotional activities to take place within one month.
  • Spread out the publishing of your content throughout the entire month (or entire year, if it's a huge anniversary).
  • Pack more content around the culmination event in order to create more buzz.
  • Be realistic about how much time your marketing team will need to produce everything. Start producing earlier than you thought and see if people can make it in time. Consider hiring a marketing agency to help you produce everything.
  • Don’t forget to be spontaneous: leave some room for unplanned content such as party photos, employees tweeting their personal fun moments, etc.

Tips for companies with content production experience:

  • Use apps for scheduled automated posting of social media content, such as Hootsuite or Buffer . Write your social media posts in advance and schedule them using the apps.
  • Use email automation software such as Mailchimp or Campaign Monitor to schedule your email newsletters. What fun a birthday is if an employee must leave the party to work on sending the newsletter, right?

How to creatively promote a company anniversary.

Your company is turning 25 (or 10 or 50!) next year and needs some PR around the anniversary, but a momentum release doesn’t quite cut it. Without any concrete news timing with the anniversary, how else can you promote this milestone? Reaching out to editors close to the company and social media posts announcing the anniversary may seem like a given, but that’s just scratching the surface.

5 Ways to Promote a Company’s Anniversary

1. plan internal and external celebrations to thank employees & customers.

The most important part of celebrating an anniversary is thanking the people who made it possible: your employees and customers. Their engagement is what will help you reach your next milestone, so make sure they feel as much a part of this one as your leadership team does. Teams don’t need to be in-person to celebrate together either – almost all of these suggestions can be adapted to be virtual.

Here are some fun ways to celebrate internally with your employees:

  • Host a company-wide lunch in the office, or in remote work times, encourage teams to get together for a virtual meal sponsored by your company.
  • Design fun branded swag to send out to your employees. Water bottles? Socks? Stress balls? A little bit of thought can go a long way!
  • Plan employee competitions to spark engagement (and User Generated Content!). Company trivia, virtual escape rooms or scavenger hunts are great ways to get employees involved in events on a large scale, and they’re great both in-office and virtually!
  • Offer a day off, early-close Friday’s or another token of appreciate for your staff’s continued hard work.

Here are a few ways to recognize your customers:

  • Send out email communications about the anniversary in your monthly newsletter to let customers know you’ve reached the milestone.
  • Did an influencer help promote your brand in a cool way? Did your customer help spark change or make an impact on the community through your product or service?
  • Share branded swag and gifts with customers too – who doesn’t like free stuff?
  • Think: discount codes, invites to a knowledge sharing event or a free trial of a new product or service that you’re offering.
  • Have customers or employees choose a charity, or a few, and make a donation. Gaslowitz Frankel allowed each staff member to choose a program and afterwards donated as a whole.

2. Infographic on company history

Take a trip down memory lane, and use an infographic to show how the company has grown over time. Whether you’ve started with one product and evolved into a portfolio of products , or began with a small pool of beta users and now have customers worldwide, visual representation of growth catches the eye. Promote this infographic on social channels and share with editors as a supplement to their articles.

Take Airbnb, for example, whose infographic takes us through its evolution, starting at the very beginning when two San Francisco residents couldn’t afford their rent, through their rounds of funding.

3. Social promotion of company celebrations

With a company anniversary usually comes some internal celebrations. Whether it be a speech from the CEO, dinner, or party, use this as an opportunity to capture the company culture on social media. Encourage employees to tweet during the event: photos of people enjoying themselves, quotes from the speaker and shout-outs to the event planner.

speech on 1st anniversary of a company

This type of promotion should also be reflected on the company pages. Share photos on LinkedIn to give potential recruits a glimpse into what working at your company looks like, and show customers that they’re supporting a company that cares about their employees. Advocacy can greatly impact the success of your brand .

For example, PAN celebrated the one-year anniversary of the acquisition of Vantage PR with a  video  detailing the past year and a blog post detailing lessons learned from the acquisition. On top of this content, we had a celebration in each office equipped with champagne and Fitbits for all. We documented this celebration and shared pictures on our personal social platforms, making our outside networks aware of the party.

Like PAN’s celebration, these suggestions work for company milestones beyond just anniversaries.

4. Pitch a CEO profile

Put the focus on the leader that got the company to where it is now: the CEO. Why are they passionate about their field of work? What personal experiences led them down this path? Do they have a unique leadership style other CEOs can learn from? Any major company accomplishments under their leadership?

These are all differentiators you can use to make the CEO stand out through executive thought leadership . Take San Diego-based GreatCall, for instance, a connected health company that recently celebrated its 10 th  anniversary. David Inns, CEO, led the company to raise over $75 million in venture funding in its early years and more recently to acquisitions and partnerships with well-known companies like Lively and Lyft. This approach to outreach resulted in a CEO profile in  Xconomy San Diego .

5. Share an Article on industry changes and predictions

So, the client has been in the industry for two decades now. They’ve seen some things over the years. Use this company milestone as a chance to reflect on how the industry has evolved, what major events and advances have caused changes in the industry, and what the expert expects to see in the next one, five or 10 years.

These types of stories are common around the new year, but company anniversaries are the perfect chance to repurpose that commentary. Turn those points into a byline article for a trade publication, develop a blog post to drive website traffic, or pitch as a feature story.

For instance, Ofer Amitai, CEO of cyber security company Portnox, reflected on the growth of IoT and shared predictions on how this growth will create security risks in the new year with  Information Age , timed with the company’s 10 th  anniversary.

  • “I bet you’d hope we’d forget, or at the very least that you’d forget how long you’ve been here. Afraid not! Happy anniversary.”
  • “Do you remember what you were doing this time last year? Probably the same thing you’re doing right now.”
  • “To us, it feels like just yesterday you started working here. To you, I bet it feels like a lifetime.”
  • “‍It’s another year down of tolerating you and looking ahead for many more years to be passed working with you. Happy work anniversary!”
  • “I think everyone would say that you are a gift to this company. Your dedication and contributions would be hard to replace. Please don’t regift yourself somewhere else.”
  • “I will never know how you stay here so long and still stay sane. Thanks for sticking it out in the madhouse with us!”
  • “Happy workiversary! We were going to hire a plane to write it in the sky, but, budget cuts, so just enjoy some cake instead.”
  • “Happy work anniversary! I would shout it from the rooftops, but, safety issues, so I’ll just say it to your face instead.”

Whether you are part of the couple delivering the speech or simply honoring them, fifty years of marriage is worth celebrating and you want to do your best at summing up those decades of devotion with a heart-warming yet witty speech.

This is your chance to show that a real-life love story can be just as funny and endearing as a Julia Roberts rom-com. More so, in fact. Real-life love may not have the same budget as a Hollywood blockbuster but it’s much more poignant and life-affirming when you know the characters involved and when time has proven that romance is more than just a fairy tale.

But if the thought of doing all that in less than ten minutes is filling you with dread, Speechy can show you how easy it really is.

Here’s what you need to know about writing a memorable anniversary speech.

HOW TO WRITE A GREAT GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY SPEECH

  • Keep it between 5-10 minutes long:  no more than 1,200 words max.
  • Tell some stories:  You’ll have heaps of humorous and sweet memories to draw on.
  • Pay tribute to your partner/the couple:  Acknowledge the quirks and traits that have made the marriage so successful.
  • Have a laugh:  Life is serious, share your love by sharing laughter.
  • Thank those who have been supportive:  Honour those who have helped along the way.
  • Finish with something sweet:  End with something sentimental. People might forget the words you say but they will always remember how you make them feel.

Share Your Stories

At the heart of every great speech are stories that explore a variety of memories and perspectives – they entice people in a way adjectives don’t.

Remember to keep your anecdotes inclusive – no ‘in jokes’ or ‘you had to be there’s’. You want the room to relate and recognise the person/couple they know and love.

Of course, mini revelations, confessions and surprises always go down well! Feel free to go through the archives and hit them with a ‘not many people know this but…’ as you reminisce through the early stages of the relationship.

older couple anniversary speech

Heartfelt Tribute

It is important to ensure that everyone in the room is aware that you ‘get them’. Whether you are paying tribute to your partner or your parents, delve into their habits and traits that make them the person they are.

You don’t need to pretend they’re perfect in order to honour them. In fact, confessing that you still argue whether or not the bedroom window should remain open at night, fifty years on, is one of those admissions that prove you still like each other enough to tease each other. It shows you have fun together.

Being married for fifty years is such a huge achievement, so be sure to touch on the things that have helped them reach this special milestone-even if it has included a few ‘debates’ along the way.

Have A Laugh

Humour is everything in a speech. Not only does it automatically break the ice, but it quickly entices the audience and makes everyone feel at ease.

Many people are unaware of how easy it can be to create original comedy and instead acquire their humour from recycled jokes from the internet.

Remember the adage, it’s funny because it’s true. Look at the relationship and the little quirks that have been established along the way.

Most of all, if you are part of the couple, look at yourself. Self-deprecating  humour is not only the safest form but one of the most effective. So, can you list some of your quirks and bad habits when thanking your partner for tolerating you for so long?

speeches silver anniversary speech hire a writer

Ensure you find time to thank those who have helped support along the way. Be it friends, siblings or children, recognise those who have helped make this period an easier time.

If all has gone smoothly, your audience will respond well to some well-timed appreciation and sentiment to end your speech. Recognising how valued your partner/the couple is not only to you, but to everyone in the room, is a perfect way to round up.

Allow one more time to reminisce on all the magic and memories over the past fifty years and finish with that all important l-bomb. Delivered successfully, this speech will add to the ever-growing memory box.

Conclude with a toast ‘to may more happy years of loving each other’.

Speech on Anniversary of the Company

When Elon Musk set up Tesla’s factory in China, he made a bet that brought him cheap parts and capable workers — a bet that made him ultrarich and saved his company.

Mara Hvistendahl, an investigative reporter for The Times, explains why, now, that lifeline may have given China the tools to beat Tesla at its own game.

On today’s episode
