محترم صدر اور معزز حاضرین کرام!

۶ ستمبر ۱۹۶۵ء ہماری قومی تاریخ کا ایک ناقابل فراموش اور یادگار دن ہے جب دشمن اپنے ناپاک عزائم کے ساتھ عرض پاک پر حملہ آور ہوا۔مگر عزم و ہمت جرات اور طاقت کی چٹانوں سے ٹکرا کر بکھر گئے اور پاکستانی قوم کے وجود کو مٹانے کے لیے وارد ہوئے مگر ایثار و قربانی اور جزبہ جوش کی آگ میں جل کر مٹ گئے۔ایثار و قربانی کے ان واقعات نے ۶ستمبر کو جنم دیا۔ یے تاریخ ہماری قومی زندگی میں ایسے موڑ کی حیثیت رکھتی ہے جس نے پوری قوم کا چلن بدل دیا۔

جناب صدر! ۶ ستمبر ۱۹۶۵ء کی صبح ایک مضطرب صبح تھی ارض پاک کی ایک ہزار میل لمبی سرحد دھوئیں اور آگ میں لپٹی ہوئی تھی وطن کی سرحدوں میں خون کی ہولی کھیلی جارہی تھی فضائیں چیخوں اور فریادوں سے گونج رہی تھی پھر دیکھتے ہی دیکھتے انسانوں کے قافلے شہروں کی طرف بھاگنے لگے مگر موت انکا پیچھا کر رہی تھی ایک دم حالات بدلے چیخوں کی صدائیں نعروں کے قالب میں ڈھل گئی۔

سرحدوں کے محافظ اسی زمین ماں کے بیٹے دشمنوں کی راہ میں دیوار بن کر ڈٹ گئے۔توپوں اور ٹینکوں کے منہ موڑ دیے دشمن کے قدم روک دیے وہ شعلے جو ہمارے لئے بھڑکائیں گئے تھے دشمن کو اس میں دھکیل کر راکھ کر دیا ہمارے جانثاروں نے دشمن کو ذلت آمیز شکست دے کر ستمبر ۱۹۶۵ء کے سترہ دنوں کو ہماری تاریخ کا زندہ جاوید باب بنا دیا۔

عزیز ساتھیو! ستمبر ۱۹۴۸ کے ۱۷ یادگاردنوں کے تصور سے رگ و پے میں آج بھی ایک برق سی دوڑ جاتی ہے کتنے عظیم تھے وہ دن جب ملک کا حر ایک فرد خواہ بچہ ہو یا بوڑھا مرد یا عورت امیریاغریب سب ایک جذبے سے سرشار تھے اور ان کے دل میں ایک ھی خواھش تھی کہ جس طرح ہوسکے دشمن کا مقابلہ بھرپور انداز سے کیا جائے۔

جناب والا! ہندوؤں کے لیے چند گھنٹوں کے اندر اندر لاہور پر قابض ہو جانا نا ممکن نہ تھا اور ان کی فوجی حکمت عملی بھی اسی کے مطابق تھی مگر بھارت کے جرنیل اور سیاسی رہنما اس بات سے نہ آشنا تھے کہ یہ وہ قوم ہے جو اپنے دین اور اپنے ملک کو بچانے کے لیے اپنی جان تک قربان کرنے میں اپنی نجات سمجھتی ہے ان کے لیے شہادت زندہ رہنے سے کئی بہتر اور اعلی ہے اور مسلمان ہمیشہ اسلام اور ملک کی خاطر موت کو زندگی پر ہمیشہ ترجیح دیتا ہے اور پھر وہی ہوا ہر شخص سر پر کفن باندھے لاالااللہ مہمد رسول کا ورد کرتے ہوئے میدان جنگ میں اترا اور دشمن کو شکست فاش دی۔

میرے ہموطنو! یہ دن ہماری تاریخ کے اوراق پر ہمیشہ چمکتے رہیں گے اور اگر ضرورت پڑی تو انشاء اللہ تعالیٰ ہم تازہ خون سے اس سے بڑھکر چمکدار تاریخ لکھ سکتے ہیں۔

صدر محترم! مسلمان قوم تو ہر ظلم کرنے والے کے خلاف دفاعی دیوار بن جاتی ہے اور ہم نہ صرف اپنے ملک بلکہ پوری دنیا میں جہاں جہاں انسانوں پر ظلم اور ان کے حقوق کو سلب کیا جاتا ہے برسر پیکار ہونے کے لیے تیار ہیں۔

Indo-Pak War (Defence Day)

6th September (Defence Day) is one of the most important events of Pakistan’s history. On September 6, 1965, Indian army crossed the international borders of Pakistan without a formal declaration of War. It was a time when not just our brave soldiers but the whole nation was cast into the mould of a cohesive unit to defend our home land and defeated the Indian Army and made them retrieve on all fronts.

The long-standing border disputes, communal tensions, and conflict over the question of Kashmir flared up in a full-scale war between India and Pakistan in September 1965.

The War of Rann of Kutch

The dispute goes back to the days of the British rule in India. The Rann was the bone of contention between the princely state Kutch, and the British Indian province of Sindh.

When British India was partitioned, Kutch acceded to India and Sindh to Pakistan. The issue was inherited by these two states along some 3,500 sq. miles of territory. From January 1965 onwards, border incidents became frequent. By all accounts the Indian forces were badly defeated in the Kutch area by the Pakistan army.

At the Commonwealth Conference in Britain, the British Prime Minister Harold Wilson successfully persuaded both India and Pakistan to sign an agreement on June 30 to resolve the dispute. Failing to do so bilaterally, a tribunal was set up to resolve this dispute. This tribunal announced its verdict on February 19, 1965. It gave 350 sq. miles in the northern part to Pakistan and the rest of the Rann area to India.

The War in Kashmir

The application of articles 356 and 357 of the Indian Constitution to the Kashmir State which enabled the President of India to establish Presidential Rule in Kashmir and legislate, there was an effort to amalgamate Kashmir completely into the Indian Union.

The Sardar-i-Riyasat would henceforth be known as Governor and would be appointed by the President of India instead of being elected by the local assembly.
The Prime Minister would be styled as a Chief Minister, as in the states of the Indian Union.

The Kashmiri people called for an all out war against Indian imperialism and established a National Government of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. In a spillover effect, Azad Kashmir became increasingly restive. The Indian army made a series of new moves across the ceasefire line with her regular armed forces.

The Lahore Offensive

The U. S. suspended military supplies to both sides during the Indo-Pak War. Both the Soviet Union and the United States took a united stand to curtail the conflict within the boundaries of the Sub-continent from escalating into a global conflict. China threatened to intervene and offered military support to Pakistan. It was to keep China away from this conflict that both the Soviet Union and the United States pressured the U. N. to arrange for an immediate ceasefire.

The Soviet Union, which had remained neutral while India and Pakistan were at war, played broker at Tashkent afterwards. A Soviet Government communique formally announced on December 8 that the Indian Prime Minister Shastri and the Pakistani President Ayub would meet at Tashkent on January 4, 1966.

The Tashkent Conference lasted from January 4 to January 10. The Soviet Premier Kosygin earned praise as a peacemaker. The main achievement of the Conference was to withdraw, no later than February 25, 1966, all armed personnel to the position held before August 5, 1964.

اج کا دن ہماری ذاتی نفرتیں ہماری انفرادی مخالفتیں اور اجتماعی منافقتوں کو ختم کرنے کا دن ہے۔ ہمیں اپنی محبت و وفا کے جذبے کو بڑھانے کا وعدہ کرنا ہے تاکہ ہم ایک متحد اور مضبوط قوم کی شکل میں دنیا کے نقشے پر ابھر سکیں۔

آج ہم اپنی تاریخی وراثت کو قدرتی خوبصورتی کے ساتھ جوڑنے کا موقع پا رهے ہیں۔ ہمیں اپنے سیاحتی مقامات کو محفوظ بنانا ہے اور یہ عہد کرنا ہے کہ ہم اس کو ہمیشہ محفوظ رکھیں گے تاکہ ہماری انے والی نسلیں بھی اس خوبصورتی سے لطف اندوز ہو سکیں اور اس کی حفاظت کر سکیں اس کے ساتھ ساتھ باقی تمام ممالک ہمارے ملک کی خوبصورتی کو دیکھ کر چار چاند لگا سکیں

اس کے ساتھ ساتھ اج ہمیں تفریحی مقامات کو محفوظ سے محفوظ تر بنانا ہے تا کہ آنے والی نسلوں کو اس خوبصورتی کا لطف اٹھانے سے کوئی نہ روک سکے

آج ہم اپنے قائدین سیاستدان اور معاشرتی کارکنان کو بھی یاد کرنا مناسب سمجھتے ہیں جو ہمارے وطن کو بہتر بنانے کے لئے کوششیں کر رہے ہیں۔ ہم ان کی سرگرمیوں کی قدر کرتے ہیں اور ان کے ساتھ کھڑے ہونے کا وعدہ کرتے ہیں۔

یہ 6 ستمبر ہمارے لئے ایک موقع ہے کہ ہم اپنے وطن کو بہتر بنانے کا عہد کریں اور اپنی قوم کو ایک بڑی ترقی کی راہ میں گامز ن کریں۔ ہمیں اپنے وطن کے قیمتی اثاثوں کو قبول کرنے کا عزم رکھنا ہے اور انکو بہتر بنانے کے لئے جدید طریقوں کو اپنانے کا فیصلہ کرنا ہے۔

آج ہم ایک جذبے اور عزم کے ساتھ آگے بڑھنے کا وعدہ کرتے ہیں۔ ہم اپنے وطن کو ترقی دینے کے خواہش مند ہیں، اور ہمیں اس کا پتہ ہونا چاہیے کہ ہم اپنے فرائض اور ذمہ داریوں کو پورا ادا کریں۔

آج ہم اپنی قوم کی ہمت و ایمان کو تازہ کرتے ہیں کہ وہ ہمیشہ اپنے مقاصد کی جانب قدم بڑھاے۔

آج ہم اپنے وطن کو ایک بے مثال ملک بنانے کا عہد کرتے ہیں جو ترقی کی راہ میں ہمارے شہداء کے قریب پہنچتا ہو۔ ہم اپنے وطن کے لئے خدمت کرنے کا وعدہ کرتے ہیں. اور اپنی محنت اور محبت کے ذریعے اس کو بہتر بنانے کا عزم رکھتے ہیں۔

آج ہم اپنی آنے والی نسلوں کو یہ پیغام دیتے ہیں کہ ہمارا وطن ایک ماضی سے بھرپور ہے، ایک مستقبل کی توقعوں سے بھرپور ہے، اور ہمیشہ اپنی تاریخ کے شاندار مقاصد کو پورا کرنے کے لئے تیار ہے۔

جناب صدر معزز سامعین السلام علیکم! آج میری تقریر کا عنوان یوم دفاع پر روشنی ڈالنا ہے۔ ۶ستمبر ۱۹۶۵ء پاکستان کی قومی تاریخ میں وہ تاریخ ساز دن ہے جب قوم سو رہی تھی لیکن پاک سرحد کی نگہبان آنکھیں جاگ رہی تھیں۔ وطن کے سپاہیوں کے لئے اپنی وفاؤں کا عہد پورا کرنے کا وقت آ گیا تھا۔ ہر بچہ، جوان، بوڑھا سر پر کفن باندھے اپنی بہادر افواج کے شانہ بشانہ ملک کے دفاع کے لئے دشمن کے مقابل تھا۔

اس دن پاکستان کے شہیدوں جری جوانوں نے اپنی سرحدوں کے بہادر اور غیور پاسبانوں کی فہرست میں اپنا نام رقم کیا۔ ان کا تن، من، دھن دیس پر قربان تھا۔ اب ہر سپاہی ناقابلِ شکست فصیل تھا، جس نے دشمن کی پیش قدمی روک دی۔ ان کی شجاعت کے ناقابلِ یقین کارناموں کی کوئی نظیر پیش نہیں کی جا سکتی۔ ان کی فرض شناسی اور حب الوطنی جدید جنگوں کی تاریخ میں درخشندہ مقام پر فائز کی جا سکتی ہے۔

یہ ایک تاریخی معرکہ تھا جس میں ہمت اور حوصلوں کی بے مثال کہانیوں نے جنم لیا۔ پوری دنیا یہ دیکھ کر حیران رہ گئی کہ پاکستان کے عوام اور افواج دشمن کے عزائم کے آگے سیسہ پلائی دیوار بن گئے اور اس کے منصوبے خاک میں ملا دئے۔ افواجِ پاکستان کے شانہ بشانہ ایک چھوٹی مگر خود دار قوم نے ثابت کیا کہ جدید اسلحہ اور فوجی برتری ہی نہیں بلکہ قوتِ ایمانی ، اتحاد، جرأت، اپنے مقصد پر یقینِ محکم اور دھرتی سے محبت ہی وہ جذبہ ہے جو کسی بھی جنگ میں کامیابی اور سرفرازی کا سبب بنتے ہیں۔

جب فوجیں سرحد کی طرف جاتیں تو بوڑھے مرد اور عورتیں سڑک کے کنارے ان کی سلامتی کے لئے دعائیں مانگتے، ان کی مدد کے طریقے پوچھتے اور بچے جذبہ عقیدت سے سلیوٹ کرتے۔ بہنیں اللہ سے ان کی حفاظت کے لئے دعائیں مانگتی۔

اے راہِ حق کے شہیدو ، وفا کی تصویرو تمہیں وطن کی ہوائیں سلام کہتی ہیں

ساتھیو! جنگوں کی تاریخ میں دوسری جنگ عظیم دوئم کے بعد ٹینکوں کی سب سے بڑی لڑائی سیالکوٹ کے ایک علاقے چونڈہ کے مقام پر لڑی گئی جہاں طاقت کے نشے میں چور بھارتی فوج چھ سو ٹينک لے کر پاکستان ميں داخل ہوگئی تھی۔ پاکستان فوج کی زبردست جوابی کارروائی نے دشمن کے ۴۵ ٹینک تباہ کر دیے اور کئی ٹینک قبضے میں لے لیے تھے۔ اسی طرح پانچ فیلڈ بندوقیں قبضہ میں لے کر بہت سارے فوجی قیدی بھی بنائے گئے۔ جنگ کا پانسہ پلٹتا دیکھ کر بھارتی فوجی حواس باختہ ہوگئے اور ٹینک چھوڑ کر فرار ہونے لگے تو پاک فوج نے موقع سے فائدہ اٹھاتے ہوئے دشمن کے علاقے میں کئی چوکیوں پر قبضہ کر لیا۔ اسی لیے چونڈہ کے مقام کو بھارتی ٹینکوں کیلئے ٹینکوں کا قبرستان کہا جاتا ہے۔ مگر سامعین ہماری افواج نہ صرف جنگ کے دوران معرکوں میں حصہ لیتی ہیں بلکہ امن کے دور میں بھی قوم کی تعمیر میں حصہ ڈالتی ہیں۔ سیکیورٹی فورسز اکثر اوقات قدرتی آفات سے متاثرہ علاقوں میں امداد پہنچاتی ہیں اور سیلابوں اور زلزلوں کے دوران رلیف کی خدمات سرانجام دیتی ہیں۔ فوج کے زیرِ انتظام چلنے والے کئی ادارے مثلاً اسکول، کالج، ہسپتال سویلینز کو بھی گراں قدر خدمات فراہم کرتے ہیں۔ اللہ پاک ہمارے وطن اور محافظوں کی مدد فرمائے۔ آمین۔ آپ سب کی سماعتوں کا شکریہ

The Army officers like Captain Sarwar Shaheed, Major Tufail Shaheed, Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed, Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed, Sarwar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed, Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz Shaheed, and Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed gave sacrifices of their life for Pakistan and were awarded with “Nishan-e-Haider” for their acts of exceptional bravery. Nishan-e-Haider is a highest military award given to brave martyrs of Pakistan army those who left remarkable examples of bravery and sacrifice for nation and country.

On 6th September Defence day (yaum e difa) is celebrated as a national day in Pakistan to memorize the sacrifices made by Pakistani brave soldiers during saving their country. The history of 6th september always gives Goosebumps as this reminds about the great and steady soldiers who gave their lives for the sake of Pakistan.

On 6th September 1965 Indian army crossed the international border and entered to attack the Pakistan. This was totally unfair because this was a surprise attack and they attacked at night. The purpose of Indian army was to completely destroy the Pakistani nation and their soldiers but it was their mistake. India’s attack on Lahore, Pakistan was held and beaten back with heavy losses. The Pakistani army showed great bravery and fought without thinking about their lives. There was air force army in the ground which helped the Pakistani soldiers to roll it back.

In that day the Pakistan government declared the holiday in the whole Pakistan and the other Muslim countries appreciate the Pakistan country for the success. In this day the Pakistan government arranges many functions.

Two days later after a great loss India again attacked on Sialkot, Pakistan. It was very hard struggle fought over many days because this time Indian army has made itself stronger than before. In the end Pakistan launched it own counter attack and captured India. The war ended with great loss of Pakistani great soldiers. Pakistani soldiers served their lives for the name and love of their country and Pakistan was brought to another level of bravery and respect.

On this day Pakistan loss many lives but this loss gave new life to Pakistan. In Pakistan 6th September is always celebrated by remembering their loved one who served their lived and by parading for Pakistan. The 6th September is a day of thank giving. Allah gives us more strength, courage and determination to protect our country as our great soldiers have done. Now Pakistan has many higher technical 4rth generation stealth weapons. In which we have 4rth generation fighter jet named thunder 3rd block and some have submarine.

Loud calls, the sound of firearms, and panic everywhere – it sounds extremely stressing, doesn’t it? This is exactly what we, as a nation, witnessed the night of 6th September! In the dead of the night, an Indian troop attacked Pakistan’s half of Punjab, unannounced; leaving our end of the army baffled. Even though taken by surprise, heavily unequipped, and unprepared, the armed forces of Pakistan fought back with zeal, and conviction, protecting our cities! 6th September, is known as the Pakistan Defence Day, where we remember and celebrate the sacrifices of our army men, and their successful attempt at keeping our civil areas protected! There lies a lot of significance in the day, which we will talk about in this blog!

History & Significance of 6th September Pakistan Defence Day

In the early 1960s India started to attack Kashmir, in an attempt to win it over, despite all the UN resolutions. The Pakistan army decided to support the locals fighting for their lives in Kashmir.

In order to divert Pak army’s attention from the ongoing war, the rivals, Indian army attacked various parts of Pakistani Punjab, such as Lahore, Sialkot and Kasur, on the 6 th September in the dead of the night.

Despite not having the upper edge in weaponry or manpower, our soldiers bravely defended our country till the 23 rd of September, when the countries agreed upon a truce. In these 17 days, the rivals were not successful in getting any piece of our land.

The nation observes 6 th September as the Pakistan Defence Day with great fervour and enthusiasm to pay homage to our armed forces.

This year, in a series of short clips, DG ISPR celebrates and honors the martyred and their families with the theme of Watan ki Matti Gawah Rehna.

Every year the entire country celebrates the day with Pak Army parades, Defence Day air shows and flag raising ceremonies. However, due to the pandemic youm-e-difa Pakistan would be celebrated a bit differently.

DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar, remarked that this year on 6 th September Pakistan Defence Day will be celebrated with great zeal, with all the Covid-19 SOPs being followed strictly.

My Countrymen! 6 September 1965 is the day when India attacked Lahore, the city of vivacious and lively people of Pakistan.

When in 1947, undivided India got partitioned into two, the people of Jammu and Kashmir, with 95% Muslim population, proclaimed to join Pakistan but India ignoring the decision of Kashmiri people, entered its army into Kashmir. Upon this, Kashmiris defied this occupation and started struggle against Indian occupation. In some time, they succeeded to regain some area which is known as Azad Kashmir today. Indian Prime Minister at that time Jawahar Lal Nehru got ceasefire on assurance of organizing a referendum in Kashmir. According to the referendum, Kashmiris would be able to use their right of self-determination and choose to merge with Pakistan or India and this will be accepted to both Pakistan and India.

This was a elementary and just action. As when a dispute could be solved without a war, then it is better to stop the war.

But it never happened!

And then Kashmiris started their struggle to get their freedom back. In the wake of freedom struggle by Kashmiris, on September 6 1965, India waged a war on Pakistan. Tanks, cannons attacked Lahore in the darkness of night but self-respecting and lively people of Pakistan, along brave Pakistan Army made this attempt failed.

My countrymen! Pakistan president at that time, General Ayub Khan announced Jehad against Indian aggression. In the morning of September 6, 1965, he said: “India forgot that he challenged a nation who recites La Ilaha Illallah and they will respond befittingly.”

Indian army had entered some areas of Lahore but Pakistani brave soldiers, army men and people made them back off. Pakistan Airforce pilots destroyed 22 Indian jet fighters and gave heavy loss to the enemy.

Many of Pakistani soldiers got martyrdom in which Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed’s name is on the top. Major Khadim Hussain and Lieutenant Iftakhar showed their braveness at Qasoor, Hadhiyara and Wagha.

In memory of those brave fighters of Pakistan, we observe September 6 as Defence Day of Pakistan every year. Each Pakistani youth and child offers Salam to martyrs of Pak Army.
