Factors and Multiples Online Quiz
If a number is a multiple of another number, it means that it can be made out of adding groups of the other number together.
12 is a multiple of 4 because 4 + 4 + 4 = 12 (or 4 x 3 = 12)
27 is a multiple of 9 because 9 + 9 + 9 = 27 (or 9 x 3 = 27)
17 is not a multiple of 4 because it cannot be made by adding groups of 4 together.
A factor is a number that divides into another number with no remainder.
In other words every number is divisible by each of its factors.
1 is a factor of every whole number, because every integer is divisible by one.
3 and 7 are both factors of 21 because 3 x 7 = 21
10 and 6 are both factors of 60 because 10 x 6 = 60
7 is not a factor of 24 because 24 is not divisible by 7 (24 ÷ 7 = 3 remainder 3).
Multiples and Factors are connected with each other:
- if we know that 3 is a factor of 12, then 12 is a multiple of 3
- if we know that 33 is a multiple of 11, then 11 is a factor of 33.
- also, if we know that 24 is not a multiple of 7, then 7 is not factor of 24.
The example below shows the relationship visually.
If we know that 3 is a factor of 24, then 24 must be a multiple of 3.
If we know that 24 is a multiple of 3, then 3 must be a factor of 24.

It is also a good way to get children working collaboratively and talking about the language together.
Each riddle consists of some clues and a selection of possible answers.
Solving the clues gradually eliminates all the incorrect answers leaving just one solution.

We are providing here a selection of the pdf Year 6 maths worksheets and, Year 6 maths tests that we believe can be used with minimal support by 10 or 11 year olds as part of their home learning.
The focus here is on retrieval practice . This means working on skills and knowledge a Year 6 should already have been taught (even if they can’t remember it yet!) and supporting them with strategies to approach SATs questions rather than teaching them new content.
Inevitably there’s a focus at this stage on ensuring pupils core number work is really sound, and on the topics that lend themselves well to Year 6 maths worksheets. There’s nothing here for example on identifying shapes or properties of shapes such as parallelograms or quadrilaterals because you can find these easily online already.

HOUSTON – During Hurricane Harvey, some people did not survive because they didn’t want to leave their pets behind.
The Red Cross and emergency managers want you to know that should not be a factor. They’re prepared to help.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo pleaded with people living in areas where the water is still rising, assuring everyone the county will find a way to work it out for them.
“We have been making accommodations for people with pets,” Hidalgo said in a Thursday evacuation briefing. “Please call 911. Let us know what your issue is. First responders will come get you and we’ll figure out what to do in terms of the pet situation. A lot of these shelters take them as long as they’re crated , but we’ll figure it out.”
Here is the Red Cross policy on pets, taken straight from their website, and here is a list of eight Red Cross Shelters across counties:
What about pets?
If it’s not safe for you to stay home, it’s not safe for your pet either. When possible, Red Cross shelter workers will do all they can to accommodate domesticated pets comfortably, however, depending on the situation, pets may need to be housed in a different location with support from animal welfare groups. Pet shelters are intended to accommodate animals that live in your home, such as dogs and cats, as well as small birds, rodents, fish, amphibians, and reptiles in enclosures. Please bring your pet(s) with you and a shelter worker will help you when you arrive .
Service animals are always welcome in Red Cross emergency shelters and are not considered pets.

WEATHER ALERT
A river flood warning in effect for Columbia County
Following ‘life’s essential 8’ could slow aging by 6 years.
Ivanhoe Newswire
Exercising and eating right are key factors in staying healthy. But the American Heart Association says it doesn’t stop there. It says following certain lifestyle habits can not only improve your overall health, but also slow your body’s aging by years.
“People are certainly interested in anything that can help you age more successfully,” said Tom LaRocca, an Integrative Physiologist at the University of Colorado Boulder.
As people get older, some worry about how their outward appearance is changing. But doctors say thinking about what’s happening on the inside is crucial.
“Most of your physiological functions, the things that your body does, start to decline around age 30 or so,” LaRocca said.
Start your morning with our daily forecast, trending news and stories curated by The Morning Show team.
A study by the American Heart Association identified eight essential lifestyle habits people should follow to maintain good health.
First on the list …
“ Eating a generally healthy diet . So, lots of fruits and vegetables,” Daniel H. Craighead, an Integrative Physiologist at University of Colorado Boulder said.
Next, getting enough exercise and staying active .
“You don’t have to be some sort of super athlete. Getting out and moving every day. A 30-minute walk has pretty tremendous health benefits,” Craighead said.
Rounding out the essential eight list:
- Get a healthy amount of sleep, which is seven to nine hours for adults
- Don’t smoke
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Control cholesterol
- Manage blood sugar
- Keep your blood pressure within a healthy range.
The American Heart Association says people who follow all eight have better cardiovascular health. And that, in turn, decreases a person’s biological age by up to six years. Meaning, their body is aging slower than their actual age.
“So, the best thing is if you’re not physically active, to start. And if you are physically active, never stop,” Craighead said.
The American Heart Association says on the flip side, people with low cardiovascular health tend to have a higher biological age.
