Our school building is very big and it has seven floors. Our school has classes from pre-nursery to class twelve. It also has a big playground and has a swimming pool too, which gives us a nice view of the building.

Our school runs in two shifts morning and day. Morning shifts are for classes pre-nursery to class three whereas the day shifts start from class four to class twelve. All of the classes have three sections.

Our Principal and the teacher both have two separate rooms. Also, there is another room for clerks where the records of all the students and teachers are kept.

There is a big library on the third floor where we have well-stocked useful books and we have also well-equipped laboratory rooms. We too have a common room where we play indoor games during .recreation hours. Our common room is also the venue of our debating club. The Principal as the president of the debating club. We have our debate on every Saturday after school hours in the common room of the school building. We have the debate, read out essays and have a discussion on interesting topics. Some of the students are good in games and have also won prizes in many competitive matches.

There is a monthly magazine published in our school. Also, every year we go for an excursion with some teachers as our guides.

The school annual function and the prize-giving ceremony holds every year. The Saraswati Puja, Independence day, Republic Day is also celebrated every year with great enthusiasm.

The Teacher-student Relationship

The Principal and teachers of our school take personal care of the individual students as a philosopher and guide. As a result, it’s a make bond between the two and its easy to communicate between them.

I study in St. Mary’s Convent, Hyderabad. It is a very big school with a red brick building. It has huge lawns outside and big playgrounds for the students. The lawns are lined with beautiful flower beds and trees.

Our school has about 45 classrooms and a staff of 80 teachers, including the P.T., Music and Art teachers. There are nearly two thousand students studying in St.Mary’s Convent. We have three well equipped laboratories and a big library that is full of books on all subjects.

Our school is one of the best schools in the city. It has won many trophies in the inter-school competitions. Our students always do well in the examinations and also feature in the merit lists. They get selected to the best colleges in the country after passing out.

It's stated that school helps to mould us into more mature adults. An excellent school produces excellent students. Teachers at my school support kids in their extracurricular activities, sports, and academic endeavours. They serve as the foundation of the school and instil in us critical life principles that we must implement daily. Our cooperation with friends and classmates is something we learn in school. Values such as sharing are modelled in children from an early age. Studies and extracurricular activities are given equal weight to help us grow as people. Our schools will always try to concentrate on our complete development and help us become healthy adults.

All great men have been taught to read and write at their schools. Thanks to our school, we acquire the proper values at a young age. We impart a set of strict moral principles that assist us in the future. Most of your early recollections are likely to be associated with the school. Living together with our peers teaches us to smile, weep, share, and give support to one another. In addition to providing a framework for developing our moral character, schools also operate as a road map for achieving our goals.

The first few school years go by quickly and are the best of our academic lives, but the higher classes show us that life is not always straightforward. We make mistakes on tests, stay up late to complete homework, and receive criticism from teachers, but most importantly, we learn how to handle the challenges that life throws our way.

Millions of impressionable children's minds, which are as malleable as wet mud, depend heavily on schools for mental development. The teachers are skilled potters who shape us into a final product prepared to withstand the stresses of life without breaking. Even though the later years of school seem like a hardship, we must remember that school is some of the happiest years of our lives.

Man is not born intellectual; instead, he acquires information by arriving in this world and does so through his education. Any person can advance in the proper direction and succeed in life with the help of school. Every parent encourages their children to attend school from the start because they recognise the value of education and realise that knowledge is the foundation for a better future. Children exhibit a sense of unity and connection at school in addition to their mental growth. All students are encouraged to advance because there is no discrimination at the school, and everyone is treated equally.

My School Environment

My school is located in a peaceful area of the city, distant from the noise and pollution of the city, and green trees and plants surround it. This allows us to study in a calm and unpolluted environment. Our school contains roughly 50 rooms, and there are three to ten sections in each class. There are approximately 3,000 students in my school. Additionally, the school features a playground, garden, and canteen where we hang out with our friends during downtime.

In addition, swings have been made for the students of class 1 at my school so they can amuse themselves while they study. Children are also taught several experiments in computer laboratories, chemical labs, and physics labs. In addition, a sizable auditorium is present, where various festive and cultural programmes are occasionally held.

Discipline in My School

Discipline is a priority in my school. As soon as we enter the school, we have a morning assembly where we sing the national anthem. In addition, a dress code has been established in our school to maintain order for all of our students, and the cleanliness of our dress is given special attention in the classroom. My Teachers at School

Every teacher at my school has a unique and approachable style of explaining every subject. Even the most challenging questions can be easily comprehended because of their unconventional teaching style.

My teachers are kind to the kids and assist them in resolving every issue, no matter how small or big they are. In addition, my school's principal is excellent; he sympathises with every child's problem and patiently listens to them. Every teacher at my school is fantastic. In my school, sporting events are occasionally organised in addition to academics. Additionally, the value of sportsmanship is emphasised, and all of the school's students are requested to participate in the athletic competition to demonstrate their abilities in this area.

EIS South West Key Stage 1

What another fantastic week it has been in Year 1. In English lessons, we have been working hard becoming more fluent reading words and sentences. We have revised our sounds, letters and are now confident listening to words, sounding them out and writing them correctly. We have also started to focus on how longer sentences are formed and have been putting jumbled sentences back together in the correct order. In Maths, we have been learning greater than, less than and equals to. It has been lovely to see everyone become confident at using these signs with not only just numbers but also number sentences. We also touched on finding 10 more and 10 less than any given 2 digit number. It was important for us to use hundred squares to help us with this task. Our handwriting is also coming along beautifully. Lots of us are really focusing on joining up a few letters in each word to ensure our writing looks more grown up, well done! In Science, we revised our materials knowledge by discussing materials around the classroom and school, and started to talk about how their properties. During Topic lessons, children begun to discuss the world around them, describe different countries they have visited and how they got to the different places. Year 1 had lots of good vocabulary when describing the different places they had been to!

This week has seen Year 2 dedicate a lot of time to their coffee morning presentation on Julius Caesar as part of last term's Important People in History unit. We have had to practise military marching and songs as well as designing our weapons and equipment.

In addition, we have continued conducting experiments in the Changing Shape unit as part of science. We have also completed our final drafts of our fairy-tales which are a great achievement. In maths, we have looked at mixed number lines and multiplication arrays.

All of this in a shorter week. Phew! Well done, Year 2!

Protesters take over Columbia University building hours after school starts suspending student demonstrators

Protesters at Columbia University broke windows at the Manhattan campus’ Hamilton Hall early Tuesday, hours after the school began suspending students who defied a deadline to leave a pro-Palestinian camp set up to protest the war in Gaza.

NBC News could not confirm how many people were inside Hamilton Hall, but the university’s student newspaper, the Columbia Spectator , reported that dozens of protesters had occupied the building.

“Let’s finish what they did in 1968,” someone yelled, apparently referring to the famous protest against the Vietnam War in which the same building was occupied .

"Disclose, divest. We will not stop, we will not rest," people were heard chanting.

An NYPD spokesperson said that "we are outside the campus, not on the grounds" just before 2 a.m.

The demonstrators hung a banner outside the building, dubbing it “Hind’s Hall,” to recognize a 6-year-old girl, Hind Rajab, who was found dead in Gaza days after being trapped under Israeli fire. The protestors said they plan to take over Hamilton Hall in honor of Hind and all the Palestinians killed in the war's violence.

“This building is now being liberated,” someone in the crowd could be heard saying early Tuesday.

A Palestinian flag was also hung from a window of the building to face outward, and trash cans were used in an attempt to make a barrier. "Shut it down!" people chanted by the entrance, video from the scene showed.On Monday, Columbia University began suspending students who failed to leave their pro-Palestinian encampment by the university's 2 p.m. deadline. Earlier in the day, the school's president said the school would not divest from Israel — a demand that has sparked protests on college campuses across the country.

"We have begun suspending students," Ben Chang, vice president for communications and a spokesperson for the university, said about three hours after the deadline passed.

The university did not say how many students it suspended.

The university had told student demonstrators to vacate by 2 p.m. or else “be suspended pending further investigation” and barred from completing the spring semester.

At the encampment, now in its second week, participants voted nearly unanimously to stay put. Around 2:45 p.m. — after the 2 p.m. warning time to leave — protesters marched on the quad and chanted “Disclose! Divest! We will not slow, we will not rest!’"

A part of the encampment has been cleared to make space for the upcoming commencement ceremony for graduates, and picketers are largely sticking to the perimeters of the encampment.

David Lederer, a 22-year-old sophomore at Columbia, walked up to the picket line and began waving a large Israeli flag in opposition to the protests.

"I’m here to show we’re here to stay; we’re not going anywhere," Lederer said.President Minouche Shafik asked the protesters in her statement to voluntarily disperse, saying that the demonstration had created “an unwelcoming environment for many of our Jewish students and faculty,” that “external actors” have contributed to a “hostile environment” around university gates and that it had become a “noisy distraction” for students.

Shafik also cited the May 15 commencement, saying, “We also do not want to deprive thousands of students and their families and friends of a graduation celebration.”

More than 15,000 Columbia students are graduating this spring, the university said.

At the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, the main stage commencement ceremony was canceled after protests.

Columbia was the first institution struck by protests in support of the Palestinian cause, with students demanding that the school divest from investments that support weapons manufacturing and Israel amid the backdrop of the Israel-Hamas war, in which more than 34,000 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip.

Protests spread quickly last week on campuses from coast to coast, resulting in mass arrests and crackdowns.

“While the University will not divest from Israel,” it offered to create an expedited timeline for a review of new proposals from students by the school's Advisory Committee for Socially Responsible Investing, which explores divestment, Shafik said. “The University also offered to publish a process for students to access a list of Columbia’s direct investment holdings, and to increase the frequency of updates to that list of holdings,” she added.

Shafik said the university had offered “to make investments in health and education in Gaza, including supporting early childhood development and support for displaced scholars." She urged those in the encampment to voluntarily disperse.

One of those suspended by Columbia for protests is undergraduate student Fadi Shuman, 31, though he was suspended before Monday’s deadline for a previous encampment. A first-generation American born to Palestinian parents, Shuman says he is low income and may not be able to return to school.

“I don’t know if I’m going to be able to go to school again. I don’t know I’ll be able to afford to go back to another school again,” Shuman said.

“I can’t say it’s like easy, but I know what I’m doing is right and it’s something I’m willing to sacrifice,” he said.

The notices handed out Monday, viewed by NBC News and issued to protest participants that morning, asked protesters to identify themselves to a university official and sign a form agreeing to alternative resolution for the university policy violations that the encampment posed.

Those who sign are eligible to complete the semester in good standing and will not be placed on suspension if they adhere to university policies.

The university also said in the notice it would offer “an alternative venue for demonstrations after the exam period and commencement have concluded.”

Columbia University Apartheid Divest, the coalition organizing the encampment protest, said in a statement Monday: "These repulsive scare tactics mean nothing compared to the deaths of over 34,000 Palestinians. We will not move until Columbia meets our demands or we are moved by force."The group criticized the university's "threat to mass suspend, evict and possibly expel students" with just hours' notice as a violation of the school's rules.

The group also condemned paper notices the university issued at the encampment as "reminiscent of the flyers the Israeli army launched from the sky to Gazans."

At a Columbia rally by the coalition around 2 p.m., student organizer Sueda Polat said: “The university has conducted itself with obstinacy and arrogance, refusing to be flexible on some of our most basic points.”“We were engaging in good faith negotiations until the administration cut them off under threat of suspensions. Where we asked for amnesty, they gave us more discipline,” Polat said.

Protest organizers also criticized Shafik's claim that the university had “constructive dialogue” with protesters, noting Columbia refused to give a commitment that student divestment proposals would be binding, and they described Shafik's offering of childhood education programs for Palestinians as "nothing more than bribery of the student movement."

Unrest and protests continue at colleges around the country. Police at the University of Texas at Austin on Monday made arrests and dismantled an encampment set up to protest the war in Gaza, university officials said. There were also arrests at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Hundreds of protesters marched through the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia, NBC affiliate KOMU of Columbia reported , but no arrests were reported.

Northwestern University in Illinois said it reached an agreement with demonstrators that will bring an end to tents on Deering Meadow, and the Anti-Defamation League for the Midwest criticized that deal as rewarding bad behavior and it accused the encampment of being a "platform for antisemitism."

At Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, police made arrests after the school said that people refused to gather their belongings and leave, the university said . It's finals week there, it noted. Police used a tear gas-like substance, NBC affiliate WWBT of Richmond reported . Video showed officers with riot shields and helmets as protesters held a makeshift line of wooden pallets.Shuman, the Columbia protester previously suspended, said it’s hard having Palestinian roots but unable to change the situation.

“My whole life, I feel like growing up as a Palestinian in America you’re always living with this — whether you know it or not — it’s just survivor’s guilt,” Shuman said.

“I’m over here, but not able to, like, actually do something,” he said.
