It was about 3.30 in the afternoon. Mr Tugiyo had just come back from the forest after collecting some firewood. Before it got dark, he went back home to take a bath and  get some rest.

Nothing was suspicious when he entered his house yard. However, just as he went into his house, there was a tiger, standing still in his living room. It was glaring at him. He stunned by the horror he found, He saw his wife, shocked, in front of the bedroom door. Her face as white as paper. He knew his family was also in danger.

Mr Tugiyo took several steps back. He gave a sign to his wife to enter and lock the bedroom. After he was sure that his wife was safe, he went out of his house and locked the front door. Then, he screamed help from the neighbours. One of his neighbours called the police. Later some policemen and officers from the zoo arrived and caught the tiger.

There is a boy from Uganda named John Ssbunya. He is a shy boy and speaks very slowly. His character might have been affected by his past.

Uganda was in a war when John was two years old. He was left all alone since he lost his mother and father in the war. He would have died if he was not adopted by a colony of green monkeys when he was left all alone. He learnt their behaviour after living with them for three years, such as living on a diet of fruits, berries and nuts and climbing trees.

In 1991, a woman saw him scavenging for food with chimpanzees. She reported it to the villagers and people caught him. It was hard since the monkeys were fighting back to prevent the people from taking John away from them.  

John was brought to an orphanage and taught to behave and speak like human. When he was able to utter his first words, it was found that he had a great singing voice. John Ssuburya has joined a 20-strong Pearl of Africa children's choir now and has gone to many different countries on tour.

Last vacation, I decided to visit the Dani tribe in Baliem Valley to do a little adventure.

First, I stopped at Muliama village, which was about 20 kilometres from Wamena to enjoy the Baliem Cultural Festival it was held for several days. People of the Dani were singing, dancing and playing their traditional music in the festival, They painted their faces with pig grease, clay ash and fur. They held their bows, arrows and spears to act as if they were attacking each other. However, no blood was shed. It was all intended only as a threatening show of force.

When the festival ended, I chose to join a trekking trip to the spectacular villages of the Dani. The trip gave me an opportunity to see the real lifestyle of the Dani people. I saw great wooden bridges across the fast-flowing mountain rivers. I also learnt that men and women did not live in one traditional house. Another amazing thing that I learnt was that people missing fingers were a result of a custom whereby both men and women might cut off their fingers if they were left by the loved one.

My eight-day trip to Baliem Valley gave me a remarkable impression of how rich Indonesia's culture is.

Early in the morning, the group arrived at the park. It was a beautiful and peaceful morning. They started their journey on a path near a small river. Along the way, they saw many kinds of animals roaming about, such as African buffaloes, elephants, and giraffes. Those animals drank from the river and then walked away.

Suddenly, Sean saw a black rhino among the bushes. He told the group. The tourists were so excited to see the rare animal. They took pictures of the animal, which was only a hundred meters away. Then the guards realised that it was a male mino and it was a bit nervous by the tourists   presence on its teritory. The guards made some noise by yelling and hitting their guns with their hands to scare the animal.

However, their efforts didn't work well. The action made the male black rhino angry. It charged towards the group. It was ready for a fight. Sean, who was very close to the animal, was its first target. The rhino struck him powerfully with its horn on his left leg. The rhino then turned to Mark who was trying to save his brother. The rhino hit Mark's chest. It broke some of Mark's rib bones.

One of the guards, then, aimed his gun at the rhino before it made another attack. He shot the rhino in its belly. The wounded animal escaped to the bushes.

Visiting My Village

Last month, I and my family went to Banyumas which was located in Central Java, Indonesia. We drove a car. I enjoyed the journey all day long although it took 2 days to get there. We were fun, my brother made some jokes all day. My father told us some stories on the way. My mother slept in the back seat.

My first day in my village, I visited my siblings and friends. We are welcomed with happiness. When I saw my parents, they cried because they looked so happy to meet up their families. The next day, I, my brother, my cousin and my nephew went to a popular place in Purwokerto. It was called “Baturaden”. That was a favorite spot in Purwokerto. We enjoyed local specialty food as a culinary. I was satisfied and so were they. Next, I took a photo with traditional music musicians.

My brother, my cousin and my nephew enjoy the view of other visitors. They took a photo with their style as I did. In the evening, we were back home. And did other private activities, such as made a conversation, told the story and made a joke.

The day after tomorrow, my cousin had a ceremony to say thanks to God for blessing their son. It was called “Nazar”. When the parents had a promise for something and it was realized. They had to make a traditional ceremony. I watched that traditional ceremony and took their photograph.

For the last show, we were entertained by “Ebeg”. It was traditional art. The player danced through traditional music and they were handled by the spirit. It was scary, but it was fun and entertaining.

Time run so fast because the next day was our last day in the village. So I took the last photo to bring it home. They were my family and still family until the last breath in this world.

Finally, we had to go home and brought a love experience from family. Yaps… that was the hardest part.

A trip to Mount Fuji 

July 2021, I went to West Tokyo by plane. It was my first journey to Japan. I took a trip to Mount Fuji. I stayed at Sakura’s house. She is my friend in Japan. We were a classmate at Senior High School. Sakura’s house has a big garden with lots of green flowers and beautiful sand. It was so perfect element of a traditional wooden house.

On Sunday morning, I started a journey to the Mountain. At Shizuoka Prefecture, I met Yamato. He was my guiding to Mount Fuji. We took sushi for breakfast. Oh my God, It was delicious. At 9:00 am. local time, we prepared and checked our stuff to continue this journey. I couldn’t say anything when I looked at the beautiful scenery from the foot of the mountain. Yamato looked and smiled at me. He said in Japan language “Kore Wa subarashdesu.” It means that it was amazing. Then, I replayed “Hai,-sdesu.” It means that yes, it was.

We reached the top of the mountain after a long and tiring trip. I screamed to blow up my emotion and said thanks to God for this beautiful life. We enjoyed the view from the peak and waiting for the next day. The day that I couldn’t forget. It was called “Hatsu Hinode” It means that it was my first time to see the sun rises in Mount Fuji.

Finally, I, Yamato and the other traveler went home by the blessing of Mount Fuji. That was a very pleasant moment that I ever got.

On Wednesday, my students and I went to Yogyakarta. We stayed at Dirgahayu Hotel which is not far from Malioboro.

On Thursday, we visited the temples in Prambanan. There are three big temples, the Brahmana, Syiwa and Wisnu temples. They are really amazing. We visited only Brahmana and Syiwa temples, because Wisnu temple is being renovated.

On Friday morning we went to Yogya Kraton. We spent about two hours there. We were lucky because we were led by a smart and friendly guide. Then we continued our journey to Borobudur. We arrived there at four p.m. At 5 p.m. we heard the announcement that Borobudur gate would be closed.

In the evening we left for Jakarta by wisata bus.

A Trip to the Zoo Yesterday my family and I went to the zoo to see the elephant. When we got to the zoo, we went to the shop to buy some food to give to the animals.

After getting the food, we went to the nocturnal house where we saw birds and reptiles which only come out at night. Before having lunch, we went for a ride on the elephant. It was a thrill to ride it. Dad fell off when he let go off the rope, but he was ok.

During the lunch we fed some birds in the park. In the afternoon we saw the animals being fed. When we returned home we were very tired but happy. It was because we had so much fun activities at many places at the zoo.

Putra was too small to help his mother, and she was too frightened to speak sensibly to him. But he ran to the neighbour’s house and asked his neighbor to come and help his mother. The neighbor soon put out the fire and took Putra’s mother to the clinic.

When Mr. Tatang came home, his wife told him what had happened. He was very proud of his son, “When you are a man, you will be just like your father,”she said.

Komodo dragon is a member of the monitor family, Varanidae. It is the world’s largest living lizards. It grows to be 10 feet (3 meters) long and weighs up to 126 kg and belong to the most ancient group of lizards still alive.

It is found mainly in the island of Komodo and on other small islands, Rinca, Padar, and Flores. The natives call the dragon, ora, or buaya darat (land crocodile).

The Komodo dragon has a long heavy tail, short, strong legs, and rough skin. It is covered with small dull, colored scales. It can sprint at up 18 km per hours, but only for short distances. When it opens its wide red mouth, it shows row of teeth like the edge of a saw.

Komodo dragons are good swimmers and may swim the long distance from one island to another. Like other lizards, they swim with their undulating tails, and their legs held against their body.

The Komodo dragon is totally carnivorous. It hunts other animals during the day. It hunts deer, wild pigs, water buffaloes, and even horses. While smaller komodos have to be content with eggs, other lizards, snakes and rodents. Komodo dragons are cannibals. The adult will prey on the young one as well as the old and sick dragons.

Sebelum kita mengerjakan contoh soal conditional sentence type 1, 2, dan 3, ada baiknya kita pelajari dulu yuk pengertian dan rumus kalimat conditional sentence .

Kalimat kondisional ( conditional sentences ) adalah kalimat yang digunakan untuk mengungkapkan bahwa suatu aksi atau keadaan tergantung pada kondisi atau situasi lain.

Contoh soal conditional sentence type 1, 2, dan 3 tidak lepas dari penggunaannya. Berikut beberapa penggunaannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari:

1. Membuat Keputusan

Kalimat kondisional digunakan untuk mempertimbangkan berbagai skenario sebelum membuat keputusan.

Misalnya, “ If it rains tomorrow, we will cancel the picnic ,” (Jika hujan besok, kita akan membatalkan piknik).

Kalimat ini membantu orang-orang berencana dan mempersiapkan diri untuk kemungkinan-kemungkinan yang berbeda.

2. Memberi Saran

Orang sering menggunakan kalimat kondisional untuk memberi saran.

Misalnya, “I f I were you, I would talk to my boss about the problem ,” (Jika saya adalah kamu, saya akan bicara dengan bos tentang masalah tersebut).

Kalimat di atas adalah contoh cara untuk menyampaikan saran secara sopan dan menghindari pernyataan yang terlalu langsung.

3. Mengekspresikan Fantasi atau Keinginan

Kalimat kondisional juga digunakan untuk mengungkapkan harapan, keinginan, atau fantasi yang tidak mungkin atau sangat tidak mungkin terjadi di masa sekarang.

Misalnya, “ If I won the lottery, I would buy a new house ,” (Jika saya memenangkan lotre, saya akan membeli rumah baru).

4. Membahas Hasil Hipotesis dari Kejadian Masa Lalu

Hal ini akan sering kita ditemukan dalam situasi reflektif atau penyesalan, di mana seseorang memikirkan apa yang mungkin terjadi jika keadaan berbeda di masa lalu.

Misalnya, “ If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam ,” (Jika saya belajar lebih keras, saya akan lulus ujian).

5. Menegosiasikan

Dalam negosiasi, kalimat kondisional digunakan untuk mengusulkan syarat dan hasil.

Misalnya, “ If you lower the price, I will buy 50 units ,” (Jika Anda menurunkan harga, saya akan membeli 50 unit).

Jadi, banyak siswa yang nilainya lebih dari 81 ada 10 siswa.

2. Perhatikan diagram batang nilai ulangan siswa berikut!

Siswa yang mendapat nilai diatas atau sama dengan rata-rata mengikuti pengayaan. Berapa banyak siswa laki-laki yang mengikuti pengayaan?

rata-rata nilai = ((70 x 2) + (75 x 4) + (80 x 6) + (85 x 6) + (90 x 4) + (95 x 3)) : 25 rata-rata nilai = (140 + 300 + 480 + 510 + 360 + 285) : 25 rata-rata nilai = 2.075 : 25 rata-rata nilai = 83

Jadi, banyak siswa laki-laki yang nilainya diatas atau sama dengan 83 = 4 + 2 + 1 = 7

3. Perhatikan diagram nilai ulangan kelas XI berikut!

Berdasarkan diagram tersebut, berapa banyak siswa kelas XI yang mendapat nilai di bawah rata-rata?

rata-rata nilai = ((66 x 3) + (70 x 4) + (78 x 8) + (82 x 6) + (89 x 4)) : 25 rata-rata nilai = (198 + 280 + 624 + 496 + 356) : 25 rata-rata nilai = 1.954 : 25 rata-rata nilai = 78,16

Jadi, banyak siswa yang nilainya di bawah rata-rata = 3 + 4 + 8 = 15.

4. Daftar jumlah siswa kelas IX yang mengikuti ekstrakulikuler adalah sebagai berikut.

- Musik: 9 siswa - Tari: 5 siswa - Bulutangkis: 6 siswa  - Basket: 8 siswa - Lain-lain: 12 siswa.

5. Berat badan siswa kelas 9 SMP Bina Nusa ditampilkan oleh diagram batang berikut.

Buatlah laporan (bebas) berdasarkan diagram batang di atas!

Untuk membuat laporan, ada beberapa hal yang harus diperhatikan, yaitu:

Jumlah siswa kelas 9 = 6 + 12 + 15 + 18 + 9                                         = 60

Berat badan yang paling banyak dimiliki siswa = 43 kg

Rata-rata berat badan siswa kelas 9 = 42,2 kg

Banyaknya siswa yang memiliki berat badan di bawah rata-rata, yaitu siswa dengan berat badan 40 kg, 41 kg, dan 42 kg = 6 + 12 + 15 = 33 siswa.

Untuk memperingati hari palang merah internasional, SMP Bina Nusa mengadakan kegiatan donor darah. Donor darah hanya boleh diikuti oleh siswa kelas 9 yang berat badannya di atas rata-rata berat badan di kelas itu. Banyaknya siswa kelas 9 SMP Bina Nusa adalah 60 orang. 

Di antara 60 orang tersebut, berat badan paling banyak dimiliki siswa adalah 43 kg. Sementara itu, berat badan rata-rata siswa kelas 9 adalah 42,2 kg. Dengan demikian, ada 33 siswa yang tidak diperbolehkan mengikuti kegiatan donor darah karena berat badannya di bawah rata-rata.
