వై విధ్యభరితమైన కథలు ఎంచుకుంటూ అటు తమిళంలోనూ.. ఇటు తెలుగులోనూ హీరోగా మంచి గుర్తింపు తెచ్చుకున్నారు విజయ్‌ ఆంటోని. ఆయన ఇటీవల ‘బిచ్చగాడు2’తో విజయాన్ని అందుకున్న సంగతి తెలిసిందే. ఇప్పుడీ జోష్‌లోనే ‘హత్య’ అంటూ మరోసారి ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకొచ్చారు. (Hatya movie review) బాలాజీ కె.కుమార్‌ తెరకెక్కించిన క్రైమ్‌ ఇన్వెస్టిగేషన్‌ థ్రిల్లర్‌ ఇది. ప్రచార చిత్రాలు ఆసక్తిరేకెత్తించేలా ఉండటంతో సినీప్రియుల్లో దీనిపై మంచి అంచనాలు ఏర్పడ్డాయి. మరి ఈ ‘హత్య’ కథేంటి? దీని గుట్టు విజయ్‌ ఎలా విప్పారు? ఈ క్రమంలో ఆయనకు ఎదురైన సవాళ్లేంటి?

కథేంటంటే: లైలా (మీనాక్షి చౌదరి) ఫేమస్‌ మోడల్‌. హైదరాబాద్‌లోని తన ఫ్లాట్‌లో హత్యకు గురవుతుంది. పోస్ట్‌మార్టం రిపోర్ట్‌లో ఆమెను ఎవరో ఊపిరి ఆడకుండా చేసి చంపినట్లు తేలుతుంది. ఆ కేసును కొత్తగా డ్యూటీలో చేరిన ఐపీఎస్‌ అధికారిణి సంధ్య (రితికా సింగ్‌)కు అప్పగిస్తారు. ఎలాంటి సాక్ష్యాధారాలు లేని ఆ కేసును పరిష్కరించేందుకు ఆమె డిటెక్టివ్‌ వినాయక్‌ (విజయ్‌ ఆంటోని) సహాయాన్ని కోరుతుంది. తొలుత ఆయన ఈ కేసు విషయంలో సహాయం చేసేందుకు నిరాకరించినా.. తర్వాత దాని బాధ్యతను తనే స్వయంగా భుజాలకు ఎత్తుకుంటారు. ఈ కేసు విచారించే క్రమంలో మీనాక్షి హత్యకు ఆమె బాయ్‌ ఫ్రెండ్‌ సతీష్‌ (సిద్ధార్థ్‌ శంకర్‌), ముంబయిలో ఉన్న మోడల్‌ కో-ఆర్డినేటర్‌ ఆదిత్య కౌశిక్‌ (మురళీ శర్మ), ఫ్యాషన్‌ ఫొటోగ్రాఫర్‌ అర్జున్‌ వాసుదేవ్‌ (అర్జున్‌ చిదంబరం), బబ్లూ (కిషోర్‌ కుమార్‌) అనే మరో వ్యక్తికి ఏదో సంబంధం ఉన్నట్లు అనుమానిస్తారు. మరి ఈ నలుగురిలో లైలాను హత్య చేసిందెవరు? అసలు నేరస్థుల్ని వినాయక్, సంధ్య ఎలా కనిపెట్టారు? ఈ క్రమంలో వాళ్లకు ఎదురైన సవాళ్లేంటి?(Hatya movie review in telugu) అన్నది తెరపై చూసి తెలుసుకోవాలి.

ఎలా సాగిందంటే: నేర పరిశోధన నేపథ్యంలో సాగే కథ ఇది. ఇలాంటి కథలకు ప్రేక్షకుల్లో మంచి క్రేజ్‌ ఉంటుంది. నేరం జరిగిన తీరు.. దాన్ని ఛేదించే విధానం.. ఈ క్రమంలో ఎదురయ్యే ట్విస్ట్‌లు, మలుపులు ఆద్యంతం ఉత్కంఠతకు గురిచేస్తూ ఓ కొత్త అనుభూతిని అందిస్తుంటాయి. అందుకే ఈ తరహా చిత్రాలకు ప్రేక్షకుల్లో ఓ తెలియని ఆసక్తి ఏర్పడుతుంటుంది. ఇక ఈ ‘హత్య’ కథ విషయానికొస్తే.. ఇదొక రెగ్యులర్‌ ఫార్మాట్‌లో సాగే సైకో థ్రిల్లర్‌. ఆరంభంలోనే మీనాక్షి హత్యకు గురవ్వడం.. ఆ కేసును సంధ్య టేకప్‌ చేయడం.. ఈ కేసు విషయమై సహాయం కోసం హీరో వద్దకు వెళ్లడం.. ఇలా చాలా రొటీన్‌గా సినిమా ప్రారంభమవుతుంది. నిజానికి ఇలాంటి థ్రిల్లర్‌లలో హీరో తెలివితేటల్ని ప్రేక్షకులకు రుచి చూపించేందుకు కొన్ని సన్నివేశాలైనా రాసుకుంటారు. (Hatya movie review) కానీ, ఇందులో అలాంటి ఎలివేషన్‌ షాట్లేమీ లేకుండానే అతనొక గొప్ప డిటెక్టివ్‌ అంటూ పోలీస్‌ డిపార్ట్‌మెంట్‌తోనే చెప్పించి నేరుగా కథలోకి తీసుకెళ్లిపోయారు. అయితే ఈ కథను కేవలం నేర పరిశోధనకే పరిమితం చేయకుండా.. హీరో కథకు కూతురు సెంటిమెంట్‌ను జోడించే ప్రయత్నం చేశారు. కానీ, అది ఏమాత్రం ఆసక్తికరంగా లేకపోగా మధ్య మధ్యలో కథకు స్పీడ్‌ బ్రేకర్‌లా అడ్డుతగులుతుంటుంది.

హీరో కేసు టేకప్‌ చేశాక కూడా కథలో ఎక్కడా వేగం కనిపించదు. విచారణ మొత్తం సీరియల్‌ తరహాలో నత్తనడకన సాగుతుంటుంది. ఈ కథల్లో చుట్టూ పాత్రలపై అనుమానం రేకెత్తించేలా చేయడం చాలా కీలకం. దీనికి తగ్గట్లుగానే మీనాక్షి ప్రేమికుడితో పాటు మిగిలిన మూడు ప్రధాన పాత్రలపై అనుమానపడేలా సీన్లు రాసుకున్న విధానం ఆసక్తికరంగా అనిపిస్తుంది. (Hatya movie review) కానీ, వీరి విచారణ మొదలైనప్పుడే అసలు నేరస్థుడెవరన్నది ప్రేక్షకులకు దాదాపుగా అర్థమైపోతుంది. విరామ సన్నివేశాలు చాలా సాదాసీదాగా ఉంటాయి. ద్వితీయార్ధంలో కూడా ఎక్కువ భాగం విచారణకే కేటాయించారు. నిజానికి ఈ కథలో హీరో తన తెలివితేటలు వాడి కేసును పరిష్కరిస్తున్నట్లుగా ఎక్కడా చూపించలేదు. కేవలం తన ఊహాశక్తితోనే ఈ హత్య ఇలా జరిగి ఉంటుందేమో అన్నట్లుగా చూపించి వదిలేశారు. (Hatya movie review) అలాగే మీనాక్షి కథను ఆమె అంతరాత్మే చెబుతున్నట్లుగా చూపించారు. దాని వల్ల ఓ థ్రిల్లింగ్‌ సినిమా చూస్తున్నట్లు అనిపించదు. ప్రీక్లైమాక్స్‌లో హంతకుడ్ని కనిపెట్టే సన్నివేశాలు.. అతని జీవిత నేపథ్యం ఆసక్తిరేకెత్తిస్తాయి. అయితే అతను మీనాక్షిని చంపడానికి వెనకున్న కారణం అంత బలంగా అనిపించదు. ముగింపు మరీ థ్రిల్‌ చేయకున్నా.. ఫర్వాలేదనిపిస్తుంది.

ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే: విజయ్‌ ఆంటోని(Vijay Antony)లోని నటుడికి పరీక్ష పెట్టే పాత్ర కాదిది. కథకు తగ్గట్లుగా ఆయన ఆద్యంతం సీరియస్‌గా కనిపించారంతే. లుక్‌ పరంగా మాత్రం సాల్ట్‌ అండ్‌ పెప్పర్‌ హెయిర్‌ స్టైల్‌తో కొత్తగా కనిపించారు. మోడల్‌గా మీనాక్షి అందంగా కనిపించింది. నటన పరంగా చూపించడానికి ఆమెకు పెద్ద ఆస్కారం దొరకలేదు. ఐపీఎస్‌ సంధ్య పాత్రలో రితికా సింగ్‌ (Ritika Singh) కూడా ఆద్యంతం సీరియస్‌ లుక్‌లో కనిపించింది. రాధికా శరత్‌ కుమార్‌ను సినిమాలో ఏదో విలనీ తరహా పాత్రలో చూపించారు. (Hatya movie review) కానీ, అసలు ఆ పాత్రను ఎందుకు పెట్టారో.. ఆఖర్లో ఏమైపోయిందో క్లారిటీ లేదు. జాన్‌ విజయ్, మురళీ శర్మ, సిద్ధార్థ్‌ శంకర్‌ తదితరుల పాత్రలు పరిధి మేరకు ఉంటాయి. దర్శకుడు ఈ కథను 1923లో జరిగిన ఓ యథార్థ సంఘటన ఆధారంగా రాసుకున్నట్లుగా చెప్పారు. నిజానికి ఈ కథలో ఆయన్ని ఆకర్షించిన కొత్త అంశం ఏంటో అసలు అర్థం కాదు. పెద్దగా ట్విస్ట్‌లు, టర్న్‌లు లేకుండా రొటీన్‌ స్క్రీన్‌ప్లేతో సినిమాని నడిపించారు. ముఖ్యంగా స్లో నేరేషన్‌ ప్రేక్షకుల సహనానికి చాలా పరీక్ష పెడుతుంది. ఈ చిత్రాన్ని కాస్తో కూస్తో కొత్తగా చూపించిన ఘనత ప్రొడక్షన్‌ డిజైనర్, సినిమాటోగ్రాఫర్‌లకే దక్కుతుంది. విభిన్నమైన కలర్‌ టోన్, ఫ్రేమింగ్‌లతో సినిమాపై ఆసక్తి కలిగించేలా చేశారు. నేపథ్య సంగీతం ఓకే అనిపిస్తుంది. నిర్మాణ విలువలు కథకు తగ్గట్లుగా బాగున్నాయి.

Hatya Review

Hatya (2023) Movie: What's Behind

Vijay Antony is known for doing different genres of entertainers. He recently scored a hit with Bichagadu 2 and is now coming with an interesting thriller Kolai which is releasing in Telugu as Hatya. The film directed by Balaji K Kumar is releasing on 21 July 2023 and let us find out whether Hatya surprised viewers or not. The film's OTT partner is yet to be finalised and streaming will be after the end of its theatrical run.

Hatya Movie: Story Review

Hatya's story is all about a rookie cop trying to solve the mysterious death of a top model. New recruit Sandhya Mohan Raj (Ritika Singh) is bestowed with the task of solving the mysterious death of the top model Laila (Meenakshi Chaudhary). She is asked to seek the advice of her reluctant mentor and investigative officer Vijay (Vijay Antony). Why Vijay is reluctant, what is the mystery behind Laila's death, how are her fiance Satish( Siddhartha Shankar), Judge Rekha (Radhika Sarathkumar), talent searcher Aditya Kaushik (Murli Sharma), fashion designer Arjun Vasudev (Arjun Chidambaram), Babloo(Kishore Kumar), Cop Mansoor Ali Khan (John Vijay), Vinod (Samkit Bohra) are connected to it form the rest of the proceedings.

Hatya Movie: Artists Review

Vijay Antony did well in his role. His task is made easier as the role of the investigative officer should be serious and he came with the apt expressions. Vijay Antony sported a new grey look and it definitely thrill all his fans and movie lovers. His body language and screen presence are good.

Ritka Singh played the role of a rookie cop and she had a good screen presence. However, she just passed through the motions as the entire investigation is handled by Vijay Antony. Meenakshi Chaudhary looked good in the role of the model. She looked slim and gorgeous and showed good emotions and expressions highlighting the trauma of a troubled celebrity.

Murali Sharma is good in his role while Radhika Sarathkumar and John Vijay appeared in small roles. Siddhartha Shankar, Arjun Chidambaram, and Kishore Kumar performed their roles accordingly.

Hatya Movie: Technicians Review

Hatya's story readied by Balaji Kumar is inspired by the famous Dorothy King murder case that happened in 1923. Many books, films, and novels came on this murder which remained unsolved and each one came with a different perspective. Balaji Kumar tried to create a thriller drawing inspiration from it. Right from the start till the finish, one can see his sincerity and passion in filmmaking.

The investigation scenes are shown in a natural and realistic manner with the characters not going over the top. He got exact performances from the actors and ensured that they do not overact. The interval twist is good and the second half goes in a similar manner. He maintained a good and intense screenplay and the direction is neat.

However, just like in all thrillers and murder mysteries, the protagonist's family is highlighted and this slowed the pace of the film. A few scenes ended up confusing the viewers. The story wouldn't have been affected in any manner if those scenes had been done away with. Climax is ok but one may get confused at times. Overall, Hatya turns out to be an interesting investigative drama. Balaji Kumar should be commended for not running after commercial elements and sticking to the story and investigation scenes.

Cinematographer Siva Kumar Vijayan with his cinematography gave a new feel to the viewers. He used interesting colors and toned it to increase the curiosity among movie lovers. Girishh Gopalakrishnan's background music elevated the scenes. He did not overdo it but brought value to the film by blending it perfectly with the narration. Selva's editing could have been better as there are many scenes that slowed the pace of the film. Dialogues are ok and production values are fine.

Altogether, Hatya is a decent murder mystery. Balaji Kumar showed Vijay Antony in a different manner and emerged successful highlighting the investigation process of the murder mystery of a model in a convincing manner. While the story is inspired by real-life happenings, he came up with a good screenplay and direction. Regular Hollywood movie lovers can easily guess where the investigation is heading but others will like the twists and turns. With a little bit of reworking the script and doing away with the drags, Hatya would have reached new heights. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2 Rating for Hatya .

విజయ్ ఆంటోని ప్రధాన పాత్రలో తెరకెక్కిన మూవీ హత్య. మీనాక్షి చౌదరి ఒక ముఖ్య పాత్ర పోషించింది. కాగా ఈ చిత్రం ఈ రోజు విడుదల అయింది. మరి ప్రేక్షకులును ఏ మేరకు మెప్పించిందో సమీక్షలోకి వెళ్లి తెలుసుకుందాం !

లైలా (మీనాక్షి చౌదరి) ఓ మోడల్. ఆమెను ఎవరో హత్య చేస్తారు. ఆ హత్య కేసు ఐపీఎస్ అధికారిణి సంధ్య (రితికా సింగ్) విచారణ చేస్తూ ఉంటుంది. ఆమెకు వినాయక్ (విజయ్ ఆంటోని) హెల్ప్ చేస్తుంటాడు. ఇంతకీ, లైలాని ఎవరు చంపారు?, ఎందుకోసం చంపారు?, మొత్తం గందరగోళంగా ఉన్న లైలా హత్య కేసులో అసలు నిందుతుడు ఎవరు?, ఈ కేసును వినాయక్ ఎలా చేదించాడు ?, ఈ మధ్యలో రాదికా శరత్‌కుమార్, మురళీ శర్మ పాత్రలు ఏమిటి?, చివరకు లైలాని చంపిన వ్యక్తికి శిక్ష పడిందా? లేదా ? అనేది మిగిలిన కథ.

ప్లస్ పాయింట్స్:

ఈ హత్య సినిమాలో వచ్చే కొన్ని ఇన్వెస్టిగేటివ్ సన్నివేశాలలో థ్రిల్లింగ్ ఎలిమెంట్స్ బాగున్నాయి. అలాగే క్లైమాక్స్ ట్విస్ట్ కూడా ఊహకు అందలేదు. దర్శకుడు బాలాజీ కె కుమార్ రాసుకున్న క్రైమ్ డ్రామా కొన్ని చోట్ల ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ గా సాగింది. ముఖ్యంగా సినిమాలో క్లైమాక్స్ ఆకట్టుకుంది. రితికా సింగ్ సీరియస్ పోలీస్ అధికారిణిగా ఆకట్టుకున్నారు. హీరోగా నటించిన విజయ్ ఆంటోని నటన అండ్ మేనరిజమ్ కూడా చాలా బాగున్నాయి.

క్రైమ్ అండ్ సీరియస్ సన్నివేశాల్లోని విజయ్ ఆంటోని నటన సినిమాకే హైలైట్ గా నిలిచింది. కథ రీత్యా హీరోయిన్ మీనాక్షి చౌదరి పాత్రకు అంత పెద్దగా నిడివి లేకున్నప్పటికీ ఆమె మెప్పించింది. రాదికా శరత్‌కుమార్ నటన కూడా బాగుంది. అలాగే, మురళీ శర్మ, సిద్ధార్థ శంకర్, కిషోర్ కుమార్ తదితరులు తమ పాత్రలకు న్యాయం చేశారు. దర్శకుడు ఓ హత్య చుట్టూ అనేక కోణాల్లో సినిమాని నడిపిన విధానం కొన్ని చోట్ల బాగుంది.

మైనస్ పాయింట్స్:

ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ క్రైమ్ డ్రామా ఉన్నా.. కొన్ని చోట్ల ప్లే సింపుల్ గా సాగుతుంది. అలాగే గుడ్ పాయింట్ అండ్ కంటెంట్ ఉన్నా.. మెయిన్ ప్లాట్ కూడా సింపుల్ గా ఉంది. అలాగే హత్య చేసిన విలన్ ట్రాక్ కూడా బాగాలేదు. ఈ ట్రాక్ ఇంకా బలంగా ఉండాల్సింది. అదేవిధంగా విలన్ గా నటించిన నటుడు సిద్దార్థ్ శంకర్ కూడా ఆ పాత్రకు పర్ఫెక్ట్ గా సూట్ కాలేదు.

దీనికి తోడు విలన్ చేసే హత్య తాలూకు మోటివ్ కూడా పూర్తి సినిమాటిక్ గా ఉంది. మొత్తానికి మేకర్స్ తాము అనుకున్న కంటెంట్ ను స్క్రీన్ మీద బాగా ఎలివేట్ చేసినా.. కొన్ని సీన్స్ విషయంలో అసలు బాగాలేదు. అలాగే ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ లో సన్నివేశాలు కూడా ఆకట్టుకోవు. పైగా హీరో ట్రాక్ కూడా బలహీనంగా సాగుతోంది. దీనికితోడు నాటకీయత ఎక్కువడంతో సినిమాలో సహజత్వం లోపించింది.

సాంకేతిక విభాగం :

సాంకేతిక విభాగం గురించి మాట్లాడుకుంటే.. దర్శకుడు బాలాజీ కె కుమార్ మంచి క్రైమ్ థ్రిల్లర్స్ కి గుడ్ ట్రీట్మెంట్ ను యాడ్ చేసి ఇంట్రెస్ట్ పెంచలేకపోయారు. విలన్ ట్రాక్ ఇంకొంచెం బెటర్ గా రాసుకొని ఉండాల్సింది. సినిమాలో సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ బాగుంది. మూవీ ఓపెనింగ్ దృశ్యాలతో పాటు సెకెండ్ హాఫ్ లో వచ్చే కొన్ని కీలక సన్నివేశాలను కెమెరామెన్ చాలా నేచురల్ గా చూపించారు. సంగీతం బాగుంది. నేపథ్య సంగీతం కూడా పర్వాలేదు. ఎడిటింగ్ కూడా ఆకట్టుకుంది. ప్రొడక్షన్ వాల్యూస్ కూడా బాగున్నాయి.

విజయ్ ఆంటోని హీరోగా వచ్చిన ఈ క్రైమ్ థ్రిల్లర్ కొన్ని చోట్ల థ్రిల్లింగ్ ఎలిమెంట్స్ తో పర్వాలేదు అనిపించింది. అయితే, స్క్రీన్ ప్లే, విలన్ ట్రాక్ అండ్ హత్య తాలూకు మోటివ్ ఇంకా బెటర్ గా రాసుకొని ఉండి ఉంటే బాగుండేది. మొత్తమ్మీద ఈ క్రైమ్ సస్పెన్స్ థ్రిల్లర్ ప్రేక్షకులను పూర్తి స్థాయిలో అలరించలేకపోయింది.

బిచ్చగాడు-2 మూవీతో రీసెంట్‌ సూపర్ హిట్ అందుకున్న తమిళ హీరో విజయ్ అంటోని.. నటించిన కొత్త మూవీ ‘కోలై’. తెలుగులో హత్య పేరుతో విడుదల చేశారు. మీనాక్షి చౌదరి, రితికా సింగ్‌ హీరోయిన్లుగా నటించారు. ఇటీవల విడుదలైన ట్రైలర్‌ సినిమాపై హైప్‌ క్రియేట్‌ చేసింది. ఓ మోస్తరు అంచనాలతో ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు వచ్చిన ఇన్వెస్టిగేషన్‌ క్రైమ్‌ థ్రిల్లర్‌ ఎలా ఉందో రివ్యూలో చూద్దాం.  ‘హత్య’ కథేంటంటే.. హైదరాబాద్‌కు చెందిన ఫేమస్‌ మోడల్‌ లైలా(మీనాక్షి చౌదరి) తన ఇంట్లో హత్యకు గురవుతుంది. ఈ కేసు కొత్తగా డ్యూటీలో చేరిన ఐపీఎస్‌ సంధ్య(రితికా సింగ్‌) చేతికి వస్తుంది. ఆమె ప్రముఖ డిటెక్టివ్‌ వినాయక్‌(విజయ్‌ ఆంటోనీ) సహాయం కోరుతుంది. ఇద్దరు కలిసి ఇన్వెస్టిగేషన్‌ మొదలు పెడతారు. లైగా బాయ్‌ఫ్రెండ్‌ సతీష్‌(సిద్ధార్థ శంకర్‌), ప్రముఖ ఫోటోగ్రాఫర్‌ అర్జున్‌ వాసుదేవ్‌(అర్జున్‌ చిదంబరం), మోడల్‌ కో ఆర్డినేటర్‌ ఆదిత్య కౌశిక్‌(మురళీ శర్మ)తో పాటు బబ్లూ అనేవ్యక్తి (కిషోర్‌ కుమార్‌)ని విచారిస్తారు. మరి ఈ నలుగురిలో లైలాను హత్య చేసిందెవరు? ఎందుకు చేశారు? ఈ కేసు విషయంలో ఐపీఎస్‌ అధికారి సంధ్యకు డిటెక్టివ్‌ వినాయక్‌ ఎలాంటి సహాయం చేశాడు. కేసు విచారణలో వీరిద్దరికి ఎదురైన సవాళ్లు ఏంటి? చివరకు హంతకుడిని ఎలా గుర్తించారు? అనేది తెలియాలంటే ‘హత్య’సినిమా చూడాల్సిందే. 

ఎలా ఉందంటే..  ఇన్వెస్టిగేషన్‌ క్రైమ్‌ థ్రిల్లర్‌ ఇది. ఇలాంటి చిత్రాల్లో ప్రేక్షకుడు థ్రిల్‌కు గురయ్యే సన్నివేశాలు ఉంటేనే కథతో లీనమవుతారు. కానీ ‘హత్య’లో అలాంటి సన్నివేశాలు తక్కువనే చెప్పాలి. పైగా ఈ తరహా కథలు తెలుగులో బోలెడు వచ్చాయి. ఈ చిత్రంలో కొత్తగా చూపించిదేమి లేదు.ఇన్వెస్టిగేషన్‌ ప్రాసెస్‌ కూడా రొటీన్‌గా ఉంటుంది. లైలా హత్యతో కథ ప్రారంభం అవుతుంది.

ఎలాంటి సాగదీత లేకుండా అసలు కథలోకి తీసుకెళ్లాడు దర్శకుడు. లైలా హత్య కేసు విచారణలో ఐపీఎస్‌ సంధ్య డెటెక్టివ్‌ వినాయక్‌ సహాయం కోరడం.. ఇద్దరు కలిసి విచారణ ప్రారంభించడం.. కొంతమంది అనుమానితుల్ని పిలిచి విచారించడం..ఇలా రొటీన్‌గా ఫస్టాఫ్‌ సాగుతుంది. ఇక మధ్యలో ఫ్యామిలీ ఆడియన్స్‌ కోసం విజయ్‌ ఆంటోనీ పాత్ర ఫ్యామిలీ నేపథ్యం, అతని కూతురు యాక్సిడెంట్‌ గురయ్యే సీన్స్‌ని చొప్పించారు.

అయితే అవి సాఫీగా సాగుతున్న కథను అతికించినట్లు ఉన్నాయే తప్పా.. ఆడియన్స్‌కి కనెక్ట్‌ కాలేవు. ఇంటర్వెల్‌ సీన్‌ ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్‌ ఉంటుంది. సెకండాఫ్‌లో కూడా రొటీన్‌గా సాగుతుంది. లైలా హత్యలో కేసులో అనుమానితులు వరుసగా చనిపోవడంతో అసలు హంతకుడు ఎవడనే క్యూరియాసిటీని ప్రేక్షకుల్లో కలుగుతుంది. అయితే సినిమా స్టార్టింగ్‌లోనే కాస్త జాగ్రత్తగా గమనిస్తే హంతకుడు ఎవరో ఈజీగా కనిపెట్టగలరు. ఓవరాల్‌గా ‘హత్య’ ఓ రొటీన్‌ క్రైమ్‌ థ్రిల్లర్‌.  

ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే..  డిటెక్టివ్‌ వినాయక్‌గా విజయ్‌ ఆంటోనీ తనదైన నటనతో ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. పాత్రకు తగ్గట్టుగా సీరియస్‌ లుక్‌, గ్రే హెయిర్‌తో తెరపై కొత్తగా కనిపించాడు. ఇక మోడల్‌ లైలాగా మీనాక్షి చౌదరి తన పాత్ర పరిధిమేర నటించింది. కథంతా తన పాత్ర చుట్టే తిరుగుతుంది కానీ గుర్తిండిపోయే సన్నివేశాలేవి తనకు పడలేదు. ఐపీఎస్‌ సంధ్యగా రితికా సింగ్‌ నటన పర్వాలేదు. మురళీ శర్మ పాత్ర నిడివి తక్కువే అయినా ఉన్నంతగా బాగా నటించాడు. రాధికా శరత్‌ కుమార్‌, సిద్ధార్థ్‌ శంకర్‌, అజిత్‌ చిదంబరంతో పాటు మిగిలిన నటీనటులు తమ పాత్రల పరిధిమేర నటించారు.సాకేంతిక పరంగా సినిమా పర్వాలేదు.

‘Hatya’ movie review: Decent crime thriller

Vijay Antony, who is riding high on the success of “Bichagadu 2,” has now come up with a crime thriller titled “Hatya.” Directed by Balaji K Kumar, the movie also stars Ritika Singh and Meenakshi Chaudhary in other key roles. The movie has hit the screens and let’s see how it fares at box-office.

Laila (Meenakshi Chaudhary) is a professional model who gets killed in her flat. What’s mysterious is that her flat is locked from inside during the crime. Sandhya Mohan Raj (Ritika Singh), an IPS officer, takes up the case, and she seeks the help of her master and private detective Vinayak (Vijay Antony) to solve the case. Though Vinayak disagrees initially, he later teams up with Sandhya to crack the murder mystery.

Both Sandhya and Vinayak doubt Babloo (Kishore Kumar), who pretends to be Laila’s manager, Satish (Siddhartha Shankar), who is Laila’s boyfriend, Arjun Vasudevan (Arjun Chidambaram), who is a renowned photographer, and Aditya Kowshik (Murali Sharma) an agent who works at a modeling company. Who killed Laila is what the main crux of the film.

This film initially sets up for an interesting and complicated web of suspicion and mystery, which makes the audience wait for the twists and turns upcoming in the world of the investigation. But that’s all there is to the film. The film does not surprise with the writing and the events that are taking place. By taking us into Laila’s life, Director Balaji Kumar takes us through her journey and reveals how the investigation works in parallel in a non-linear manner. This looks and works well in certain scenes. But the director was not completely immerse the audience in the emotional threads of the lead characters. Moreover, the attempt to show the film in a different kind of world/backdrop did not work out.

The idea of connecting Vinayak’s personal loss and his trauma in the case that he’s investigating seems good, but does not sync into the narrative because of false tone of emotion in his family scenes except for one or two. The second half gets a bit better at the initial phase, but soon it delves into a bland affair with the wait for the real Killer getting exhausting. The final twist also lacks the punch and the reason behind the murder looks silly.

On the whole, “Hatya” is a slow-paced crime thriller that largely depends on Vijay Antony’s compelling performance. Though a few investigative portions are handled well, the slow narration played spoilsport. The plot gets significantly deviated in the second half with unwanted family emotions.

Performances

Vijay Antony was fine in his role, but his hairdo looked improper. His efforts were seen in the film. The character also looked like tailor made for the actor. Ritika Singh and Meenakshi Chaudhary were fine, while Radhika Sharath Kumar got wasted in an insignificant role. Murali Sharma, John Vijay and others were ok.

Technicalities

Director Balaji K Kumar can do better with the movie. While he handled some investigative portions well, he brought in unnecessary family drama in the second half that diluted the proceedings. However, the biggest drawback of “Hatya” is its pacing which is painfully slow. Even a few decent sequences lost their impact due to the ultra-slow pacing.

Girishh Gopalakrishnan’s background score is good in the second half. The retro style of music worked well in a few scenes. The cinematography by Sivakumar Vijayan is fantastic. The art direction deserves special applause as the artwork gave a completely new touch to the film. The VFX works could have been better. The production values are neat. The editing part is not up to the mark and it can be much better.

విశ్లేషణ (Hatya Movie Review) : మర్డర్ మిస్టరీ నేపథ్యంలో తెరకెక్కిన క్రైమ్ థ్రిల్లర్ 'హత్య'. అయితే... ఇందులో థ్రిల్ ఇచ్చే అంశాలు చాలా అంటే చాలా తక్కువ. ప్రీ క్లైమాక్స్ నుంచి కొంచెం థ్రిల్ ఉంటుంది. డ్రామాతో ముడిపడిన ఇన్వెస్టిగేషన్ ఫిల్మ్ ఇది.

రెగ్యులర్ క్రైమ్ థ్రిల్లర్స్, ఇన్వెటిగేషన్ డ్రామాల మధ్య 'హత్య'ను కొంచెం కొత్తగా చూపించిన ఘనత ప్రొడక్షన్ డిజైనర్ & సినిమాటోగ్రాఫర్... ఇద్దరికీ దక్కుతుంది. డిఫరెంట్ కలర్ టోన్, ఫ్రేమింగ్‌లతో సినిమా స్టార్టింగ్ ఇంట్రెస్ట్ క్రియేట్ చేశారు. తెరపై ఏదో కొత్త సినిమా చూస్తున్న ఫీలింగ్ కలిగించారు. అయితే... కాసేపటికి స్లో నేరేషన్ ఇబ్బంది కలిగించడం మొదలు పెడుతుంది. కేవలం మర్డర్ మిస్టరీకి మాత్రమే పరిమితం అయితే బావుండేది. కుటుంబ ప్రేక్షకుల కోసం అన్నట్లు మధ్యలో విజయ్ ఆంటోనీ పాత్రకు ఫ్యామిలీ, డాటర్ సెంటిమెంట్ సీన్లు రాశారు. 

'హత్య'లో రెగ్యులర్ హీరో హీరోయిన్లు లేరు. రొటీన్ రొమాంటిక్ సీన్లు లేవు. అందుకు దర్శకుడిని మెచ్చుకోవాలి. అయితే... ఇన్వెటిగేషన్ ప్రాసెస్ రెగ్యులర్ పంథాలో తీసి విసిగించారు. హత్యకు ముందు వెనుక ఏం జరిగిందనేది విజయ్ ఆంటోనీ చెబుతుంటే... 'అజ్ఞాతవాసి'లో సంపత్ రాజ్ సీన్లు గుర్తుకు వస్తాయి. క్లైమాక్స్ కంటే కొంచెం ముందు క్యూరియాసిటీ క్రియేట్ చేశారు. ఎండింగ్ కొంచెం పర్వాలేదు. రీ రికార్డింగ్ జస్ట్ ఓకే. కథగా చూసిన సరే... ఎవరు చంపారు? అనేది ఊహించడం పెద్ద కష్టం ఏమీ కాదు. సినిమా స్టార్టింగులో కొంచెం కాన్సంట్రేట్ చేస్తే ఈజీగా అర్థం అయిపోతుంది.

నటీనటులు ఎలా చేశారు? : నటనలో విజయ్ ఆంటోనీ కొత్తగా చేసింది ఏమీ లేదు. ఆ పాత్రకు అవసరమైన సీరియస్ ఎక్స్‌ప్రెషన్స్ మైంటైన్ చేశారు. లుక్ పరంగా గ్రే హెయిర్‌తో కొంచెం కొత్తగా కనిపించారు.

మీనాక్షీ చౌదరి మోడల్ రోల్ చేశారు. స్క్రీన్ మీద ఆమెను చూస్తే సైజ్ జీరో బాడీతో మోడల్ అన్నట్లు ఉన్నారు. నటిగా ఆమెకు ఎక్కువ స్కోప్ దక్కలేదు. ఉన్నంతలో పర్వాలేదు. బాగా చేశారు. ఐపీఎస్ సంధ్య పాత్రలో రితికా సింగ్ ఓకే. రాధికా శరత్ కుమార్, జాన్ విజయ్ పాత్రలు కొన్ని సన్నివేశాలకు పరిమితం అయ్యింది. మురళీ శర్మ నటన బావుంది. కానీ, వేరొకరితో డబ్బింగ్ చెప్పించడం బాలేదు. సిద్ధార్థ శంకర్, అజిత్ చిదంబరం, కిషోర్ కుమార్... పాత్రల పరిధి మేరకు చేశారు.

Vijay Anthony is one actor who managed to create a good base for himself in the Telugu states. He has now come up with the film Hatya, which has been released today. let’s see how it has turned out to be.

Lalia is a professional model who gets killed in her apartment under mysterious circumstances. Sandhya Mohan Raj is an IPS officer who is assigned to this case, where she has to find out the murderer. She teams up with her guru, Vinayak, who is also a personal investigator. While initially not interested in taking up the case, Vinayak finally agrees to take on the case and helps Sandhya find the murderer of Laila.

On-Screen Performances:

Vijay Anthony is seen in a different kind of role in the movie. He is seen as a private detective, and he fits the part well. His action is subtle, and it clearly shows that he has improved a lot as an actor. However, there’s a lot of scope when it comes to his performance in action sequences, as he leaves the audience wanting more.

Meenakshi Chaudhary doesn’t have a lot to do and is off the screen very quickly. Rithika Singh, who plays the IPS officer, is alright in her role.

Murali Sharma and Radhika Sarathkumar are seen in key roles in the film, but they do not have a lot to do. They are wasted, and so is the case with many other supporting artists of the movie.

Off-Screen Talents:

The director, Balaji K Kumar, has not come up with any new story, but he could have presented the story in a much better manner. The screenplay and the pacing of the film are all over the place and are quite slow as well. While some investigative scenes are good, they are not enough to make the film any more appealing. The family drama scenes are especially very boring and the audience loses their interest in the movie. The overall execution of the film is also below par, which makes the entire movie a totally underwhelming experience.

The background score of the movie is good and can be termed as one of the positive points of the film. The cinematography of the film is also quite alright. The editing is not up to the mark and could have been much better. The production values of the film are top-notch and have managed to give the film a completely different look.

Minus Points:

• Bad execution
• Poor pacing
• Unnecessary sequences

Verdict: Hatya is a movie that had potential, with the right director. However, it can now be skipped for other better options that can be watched from the comfort of your home.

Hari, who has a knack for mass films, has now teamed up with Vishal for an action-packed entertainer titled Rathnam. The duo previously delivered two superhits in the form of Bharani and Pooja. Let’s see if Rathnam can be their hat trick.

Rathnam (Vishal) is a close aide of Chittoor MLA Panneer Swamy (Samuthirakani). He always involves in one conflict or the other. One day he sees Mallika (Priya Bhavani Shankar) and starts following her. Rathnam soon realizes that some goons are trying to kill Mallika. Rathnam goes all out to protect Mallika. Who are these goons? Why do they want to kill Mallika? Why did Rathnam risk his life for Mallika? This is what Rathnam is about.

Plus Points:

Vishal is the kind of actor who never goes wrong with his performance. In Rathnam, too he delivered an impactful performance with complete conviction. He is stunning in all the action sequences. Vishal’s body language is pretty good, and he carries the film on his shoulders.

The movie has some good action episodes that are neatly conceived, and a few might appeal to the mass audience. Priya Bhavani Shankar and Samuthirakani are decent in their roles. Devi Sri Prasad showed his vintage mark through Rathnam. A couple of songs are superbly composed, and they will remind us of his initial days.

Minus Points:

Films by Hari usually have a standard template, but his core strength is narration. Even with routine stories he delivered entertaining films in the past. Also, they were fast-paced, which helped us overlook the routine nature of the scripts. But this is where Rathnam falters. The director’s magic is missing big time, as the narration doesn’t hook us. The movie has many boring moments, and things get slow at multiple times.

As the entertainment is missing one can’t help but find the issues. The second half is completely filled with action without much drama and this becomes tiresome after a certain point. The movie gets prolonged over the end and the editing team could have shortened the length.

The director tried a different emotion involving the main leads but it isn’t told convincingly. As the whole film runs on this particular emotion, it is difficult to connect. The humor worked in a couple of sequences but Yogi Babu isn’t utilised properly. Murali Sharma doesn’t have much to do.

Technical Aspects:

Devi Sri Prasad did complete justice to the film both with songs and background score. Cinematography by Sukumar is neat and the five minute single shot action sequence is nearly picturized. The production design is good too. The editing is below-par as the film looks overstretched.

Director Hari did a disappointing job with Rathnam. He didn’t succeed in crafting entertaining moments and this takes the film down in many scenes. An action film without a good emotion is similar to a body without a soul. This is the exact problem with Rathnam.

On the whole Rathnam is a disappointing action drama that lacks proper emotions. Vishal is solid in his mass avatar and the film has some well conceived action sequences. The core emotion which drives the film is not at all convincing and this is the biggest problem with Rathnam. Also the entertainment factor and fast paced narration which used to be Hari’s strengths are missing. The climax portions are prolonged needlessly and after a certain point it becomes exhausting. Hence it is suggested to look for other options this weekend.

Vijay Antony, who is riding high on the success of Bichagadu 2, has now come up with a crime thriller titled Hatya. Directed by Balaji K Kumar, the movie also stars Ritika Singh and Meenakshi Chaudhary in other key roles. The movie has hit the screens today, and let’s see how it is.

Laila (Meenakshi Chaudhary) is a professional model who gets killed in her flat. What’s mysterious is that her flat is locked from inside during the crime. Sandhya Mohan Raj (Ritika Singh), an IPS officer, takes up the case, and she seeks the help of her master and private detective Vinayak (Vijay Antony) to solve the case. Though Vinayak disagrees initially, he later teams up with Sandhya to crack the murder mystery.

Both Sandhya and Vinayak doubt Babloo (Kishore Kumar), who pretends to be Laila’s manager, Satish (Siddhartha Shankar), who is Laila’s boyfriend, Arjun Vasudevan (Arjun Chidambaram), who is a renowned photographer, and Aditya Kowshik (Murali Sharma) an agent who works at a modeling company. Who killed Laila is what the movie is all about.

Plus Points:

Hatya looks completely different due to the amazing production design. We have been seeing more investigative thrillers recently, and what differentiates Hatya from others is how its world is portrayed in a unique style. The fantastic cinematography gives a fresh feeling altogether to this crime thriller.

Vijay Antony played a private detective in Hatya. His salt and pepper look seemed very natural. One of the best things about Hatya is his subtle performance. Vijay Antony does what his character demands precisely and doesn’t go overboard. The way he delivers dialogues and the manner in which he reveals the final twist is magnificent.

Some of the investigation portions in both the halves are shown in detail, and especially when the investigation points fingers at all four suspects, the film turns out to be interesting. Meenakshi Chaudhary, around whom the entire film revolves, did a fine job. There is a poetic touch to her character. Ritika Singh lends a nice support to Vijay Antony.

Minus Points:

One of the biggest drawbacks of the film is its slow pacing which irritates after a point in time. Initially, significant screen time has been taken to introduce the characters, but even after the investigative portions start, the film moves at a slow pace. The editing team could have trimmed the length of many scenes for a better experience.

The initial part of the second half takes a big diversion from the main story as we get to see family scenes related to Vijay Antony’s character. The director tried to infuse family emotions, but that wasn’t absolutely necessary to this plot.

Murali Sharma and Radhika Sarathkumar have nothing much to do in the film, and both senior actors are wasted in small roles. On top of that, Murali Sharma didn’t dub in Telugu and it is a bit problematic to see someone else dubbing for the fantastic performer.

Technical Aspects:

Girishh Gopalakrishnan’s background score is good in the second half. The retro style of music worked well in a few scenes. The cinematography by Sivakumar Vijayan is fantastic. The art direction deserves special applause as the artwork gave a completely new touch to the film. The VFX works could have been better. The production values are neat.

The editing needs some serious corrections. Coming to the director, Balaji K Kumar, he did a below-par job with the movie. While he handled some investigative portions well, he brought in unnecessary family drama in the second half that diluted the proceedings. However, the biggest drawback of Hatya is its pacing which is painfully slow. Even a few decent sequences lost their impact due to the ultra-slow pacing.

On the whole, Hatya is a slow-paced crime thriller that largely depends on Vijay Antony’s compelling performance. Though a few investigative portions are handled well, the slow narration played spoilsport. The plot gets significantly deviated in the second half with unwanted family emotions. Hence Hatya ends up being a strictly okay watch this weekend.
