You’ll find lots more ideas – plus information on earning potential and how to get started – in this post.

Best online jobs for university students

When I was a student, I had all kinds of odd jobs.

I worked in the student union bar for a couple of years, and I worked as an English teacher while I was studying abroad. I even did some mystery shopping !

I did enjoy most of these jobs, but I didn’t enjoy the time I wasted trekking back and forth across town for them.

Luckily, I soon discovered the potential of online jobs for students!

There are so many ways to earn money online as a student in the UK that pay much better than your typical student bar or retail job.

These online jobs are usually flexible. You can work any time of the day or night, around your uni schedule.

And you can work from your dorm room, library, or even from your phone while you’re out and about!

My epic list of legit online jobs for students

I put together this giant list of online jobs for university students so that you can find jobs that work around your schedule and make money from home while you study 🙂

This list also includes potential earnings . These are just a rough estimate , as obviously it completely depends how many hours you are available each month, among other factors. Keep in mind that your earnings could vary.

I estimated these earnings based on part time work. You could potentially do most of these jobs full time too, if you wanted to.

But since you’re a student, I’ll assume you need to study and have a life too!

Freelance writer, website flipper, matched betting, social media manager, pinterest manager, money making sites, website tester, research studies (respondent, focus groups), web developer, translation, facebook ads manager, transcriptionist , sell digital products on etsy, micro influencer, print on demand, slice the pie, online researcher, clickworker (data entry etc), give your opinion on tv , sell photos and videos from your phone, affiliate marketer , fulfilment by amazon business, faqs about online jobs for students (uk).

A student is sitting at a desk with a laptop and a globe in front of her, exploring online job opportunities.

As a student, you spend your days attending lectures and studying. But have you considered flipping it and becoming a tutor yourself ?

There’s huge demand for uni students to work as private tutors for primary and high school students at all levels, including GCSE and A level tutoring.

What’s more, you can work as a private tutor online – saving you time and money on travelling to students’ homes.

Depending on the platform, you can give lessons or help students work through problems over online chat , email or video call.

In my opinion, this is one of the best online jobs for students to earn money. Teaching helps you learn your own subject better because it reinforces your knowledge and helps you process information.

Also, tutoring looks GREAT on your CV as it demonstrates a whole range of transferable skills such as leadership, communication skills and problem solving!

Here are two online tutoring companies that both accept undergrads as tutors in the UK:

Potential earnings: £8-£20 per hour

A woman with headphones is sitting at a desk with international flags in front of her, teaching English as her online student job.

Do you speak English? Then you’re in luck!

There are a whole raft of jobs out there as an online English tutor for students learning English as a second language. And you already have the number one qualification (speaking the lingo!)

The work varies depending on the company you sign up with. Some companies pay you just to chat in English! Others require you to teach more structured lessons over a video call.

The pay depends on the company and whether you have any teaching qualifications. But you can earn up to £20 per hour as an online English tutor.

Higher-paying work usually requires a TEFL certificate. You can take these online pretty cheaply and they are a great asset to your CV!

Potential earnings: £5-£150 per article

Female student in pink top and grey leggings sits on the floor with her laptop and several sheets of paper, working on her freelance writing side hustle student job

Writing is a popular online job for college students.

If you are studying an essay subject subject as English Literature or history, you will probably find that writing comes easily to you.

Freelance writing is one of the best work from home jobs for students because you can earn some extra money while honing your skills.

You can pitch for freelance jobs directly on sites like Upwork or Problogger (see this post for tips on getting started as a freelancer), or go with ‘content mill’ sites such as Textbroker.

The content mills don’t pay very well but they always have work available, so if you can churn out articles quickly this can be an easy way to make money online as a student.

If you want to set up on your own as a freelancer, here’s a list of sites to find freelance writer jobs .

Potential earnings: £50-£10,000+ per month(!)

A student sitting at a desk with a laptop and a cup of coffee while working on online jobs.

I’m a professional blogger now, and I LOVE my job.

I managed to build my blog up to a full time income after two years of blogging . During that time, I probably worked on my blog for around 10-20 hours a week, on top of my full time office job.

Believe me when I say, it was tough putting in those hours on my blog as well as working full time. I worked hard as a student too, but didn’t appreciate how much free time I had then compared to when you enter the working world!

If I could be a student again, I would 100% set up a blog while still at university.

This is because of the relative free time I had then, and because it would have given me a head start on earning some serious cash before graduation.

If I had been earning a decent online income back then, it would have opened up so many doors for travelling and enjoying life, rather than rushing into a standard grad job just to get by.

Blogs are not a fast way to make some easy cash. I usually tell people to plan to stick with blogging for at least a year before you start to see decent money coming in.

( If you need money fast, see this post .)

BUT – an established blog has probably the highest income potential of any job on this list !

I would say it’s probably one of the best online jobs for uni students simply because of the potential.

I personally know many UK bloggers (myself included) who earn a full time income of anywhere from £2,000 to £10,000 per month from their blogs. And I know of many bloggers in the US who earn six figures monthly !

If you start building a blog while still a student, you have time to build it up to a full time living by the time you graduate, and you’ll never have to get a ‘real job’!

Potential earnings: £50-£500+ per month

A student woman using a laptop for online jobs on a yellow background.

If you’re interested in blogging, but can’t wait the one to two years to start making good money, consider blog flipping.

This involves either buying or starting a small site and selling it on for profit.

There are dedicated sites for buying and selling blogs such as Flippa .

Some people are willing to pay good money even for a small site that isn’t making much profit yet, simply because they like to work with something ‘ready made’ rather than setting everything up themselves.

If you can learn how to quickly set up small websites, you can sell them on to make a fast profit.

Potential earnings: £100-£400 per month

If you’re studying English or another essay-based subject, and you have a great eye for detail, proofreading might be the best online student job for you.

There is an ever-growing demand for proofreaders now with the boom in online content. You can find freelance work proofreading books, blog posts, other students’ essays and more.

Caitlin Pyle is one online proofreader who has made as much as $40,000 per year just by proofreading.

She actually started proofreading as a side hustle when she was a college student, studying abroad in Germany and proofreading her fellow students’ English texts!

Here’s Caitlin’s free online workshop that will teach you more about the job:

Start your Freelance Proofreading Hustle

Do you have a strong grasp of English and a sharp eye for detail? Learn how to build a flexible online business as a proofreader.

Potential earnings: £200-£1,000+ per month

Matched betting is definitely up there as one of the best online jobs for uni students in the UK (over 18s only).

Don’t be put off by the name – matched betting is not gambling ! It’s a way of using special calculations to ‘match’ bets across different bookies, playing the bookies against each other and extracting profit every time from the special free bet offers.

It sounds kind of complicated, and to be honest it does sound a bit weird until you’ve tried it.

But there are matched betting training sites out there that show you exactly what to do, and they have special software and calculators to help you place the right bet.

Personally, I am a member of the site Outplayed.com which has video guides to talk you through each bet, plus live support and amazing forums!

You can make up to £40 this weekend just with their free trial, and I guarantee you’ll want to continue. I’ve personally made hundreds of pounds per month thanks to this method.

Here’s a video by Sam Stoffel, founder of Outplayed, with more info:

Potential earnings: £12-£50 per hour

If you are internet savvy, highly organised and want to make money online, then Virtual Assistant (VA) could be the perfect online job for you.

Virtual Assistants do various tasks for anyone who wants or needs to outsource some work! Your clients might be bloggers, online businesses, or even traditional brick-and-mortar businesses who need help with some virtual tasks.

Here are just some of the services you can offer as a VA:

  • Calendar management
  • Processing orders
  • Drafting blog posts
  • Editing and proofreading
  • Customer service
  • Responding to emails
  • Transcription
  • Social media management
  • General admin work

You might choose to specialise in one or two of these services, or be flexible and do whatever your clients need!

A student working on a laptop at a table, exploring online job opportunities.

Every single business needs social media these days, from online businesses to traditional services. But many business owners don’t have the time or skills to run their social media by themselves.

That’s where you can step in. If you can set up social media profiles, create and schedule content, and respond to DMs, there are unlimited companies who could use your skills.

A Pinterest manager is a type of Virtual Assistant who specialises in Pinterest!

If you already use Pinterest day in, day out, this could be the ideal way for you to earn extra cash .

Pinterest is an important and growing platform for businesses large and small, but many companies simply don’t know (or care to learn!) how it works.

In addition, Pinterest is the largest source of traffic for many professional bloggers, who are willing to outsource Pinterest management so that they can focus on writing.

Pinterest managers or VAs can offer the following services:

  • Pin image design
  • Manual or scheduled pinning
  • Monitoring results and feeding back to client
  • Setting up promoted pin (ad) campaigns
  • Research trending topics, content ideas and competitors using Pinterest

There is even a course you can take to learn how to launch your Pinterest VA business.

Potential earnings: £300-£800 per month

Appen is a huge data company that is always hiring for various online jobs.

The work available includes:

  • Search engine evaluation (helping search engines improve their results)
  • Social media evaluation
  • Micro tasks
  • and various other roles.

You have to pass a test to get in, but then you will have you pick of flexible online tasks that you can do at a time to suit you.

Lionbridge is a similar company with search evaluator and other online jobs suitable for university students.

Potential earnings: £20-£100 per month

A student multitasking on their mobile phone in a classroom, potentially searching for online jobs opportunities.

Many companies out there pay you to share your opinions and experience by taking online surveys for money.

Now, surveys are not the best-paying side hustle in the world. But, they are one of the easiest online jobs for college students with no experience. Literally anyone can sign up with online survey sites and start making money straight away.

What’s more, you can usually do them from your phone too.

While surveys are no replacement for a real job, they can be a productive way to spend your time while on the bus or waiting for a lecture to start.

Here are the top sites I recommend:

  • Prolific (best paying; never screens you out)
  • YouGov (regular, interesting surveys for the media)
  • Paid Viewpoint (again, never screens you out = no wasted time)
  • Qmee (cash out instantly, no minimum payment threshold)

And if you want even more, I have a master list of survey sites here . The more you sign up with, the more you can earn!

Potential earnings: £50-£1,000 per month

Did you know there are websites that literally pay you to do small online tasks?

Sometimes called Get Paid To (GPT) sites, most of them have a range of ways to make money, such as completing offers, surveys, playing games, referring friends and more.

Like survey sites, these sites probably won’t earn you as much as getting a part time job. But they can be an easy way to make some extra cash for beer money each month.

Here are some I recommend.

OhMyDosh! is my top recommended site for making money online in the UK. You get paid for signing up for different offers and free trials. I especially love the ‘lightening payouts’ section which means you can get money in your account in three days!

You can see exactly how I earned £20 in 30 minutes here .

OhMyDosh!

Earn money doing easy online offers. I made £20 in 30 minutes! £2 sign-up bonus with my link.

Cashback is very similar to OhMyDosh but you have to do 15 offers before you collect a payout. This can take a while but it means you get a nice chunky payment of about £150 at the end 🙂

Cashback

Complete all 15 offers to cash out. Offers include free trials, sign-ups, and online tasks. The average payout is just over £150! Plus, there’s a free £5 sign-up bonus.

Freecash is a fab money making site with loads of ways to earn. Personally I love this one for the paid mobile gaming offers ! Yep, you can get paid to game on your phone.

Also, all new sign-ups get to open the mystery ‘free case’ which contains a bonus of up to $250 .

Freecash

Make money online testing apps, playing mobile games, taking surveys, completing offers and more.

Swagbucks has loads of different ways to make money online including surveys, offers, paid search, watch videos, cashback and more. I don’t recommend the surveys on Swagbucks because they have a bad reputation for screening you out.

But I like how you can get paid to watch videos. You can just leave this running in another tab to earn points with no effort. Although, try to click on ads and interact with the screen occasionally, or you can get banned.

Swagbucks

A money-making favourite with plenty of ways to earn and a $3 sign-up bonus.

Inbox Pounds

You can earn points on Inbox Pounds by taking surveys, searching the web, playing games, watching videos and cashback.

With InstaGC you earn points which you can redeem for gift cards. The main ways to earn are surveys and watching videos. You can also earn by downloading apps, browsing websites and signing up for free trials.

Again, I like to let the videos play in another tab while I’m working to clock up some easy points!

Potential earnings: £8 per 20 minute test

This work involves checking out a company’s website or app, and feeding back on your experience. You don’t need any tech knowledge to do this – the clients simply want to know how their website comes across to the average user.

You’ll have to download a special screen recorder software (this is free and easy, all instructions provided once you’re accepted) and then you simply complete some simple tasks on the website and talk through your thoughts and any issues.

Website testing is such easy and fun work, and I’m always surprised it isn’t more popular!

There are several sites that hire website testers. I mostly use User Testing but take a look at this post for more .

This is an easy online job for university students without investment. Tests sometimes go quickly, but if you’re a student with a flexible timetable and you can get online in the middle of the day, you have a better chance of grabbing more work.

Potential earnings: £50-£100 per study

Research studies are like surveys but more involved, and much more lucrative!

There are three key places I’d recommend looking for paid research studies as a student:

This AMAZING website is a goldmine for easy opportunities to earn money online! It is a source for online focus groups and paid interviews (online or over the phone or video chat).

These are all very well paid studies – typically $50-$100+ for one interview, which could just take an hour of your time!

The reason it’s so well paid is that many of the studies require people working in a particular field or with particular qualifications, so it can be difficult to qualify.

But check in regularly with the site and you’ll find there are many studies suitable for students too.

Focus groups

Focus groups are when you attend a group discussion about a product or idea, for market research purposes. There are some online focus groups, but you will find way more opportunities if you live in a major city and can attend in-person groups. These groups usually pay £50-£100 for half a day.

Take a look at this post to learn more about making money with focus groups and where to sign up.

University studies

Since you’re a student, where better to find work than on campus!

Many university researchers need participants for studies, and they’ll usually advertise around campus. Look out for signs on department notice boards and in the library, or see if your local college has a web page or social media accounts that list studies.

University studies are usually not as well paid as commercial studies but you can still earn a little extra cash, and some will give you freebies like snacks and coffee as a thank you for taking part.

Potential earnings: £200-£1000 per month

There are always going to be opportunities for people who can create websites and apps. You can learn to code for free online with sites such as Free Code Camp .

If you’re not interested in learning computer languages, you can even make and sell basic websites just in WordPress or with a drag and drop builder such as Thrive.

Potential earnings: £100-£600 per month

A woman multitasking between referring to a large dictionary and working on her laptop, exploring online jobs for students.

If you speak a second language, or if you’re studying languages, translation is a great way to earn extra money as a student while honing your skills.

Freelance work is probably the easier way to get started while you’re still a student, as many larger agencies require professional qualifications.

Advertise for freelance jobs on sites such as Fiverr and People Per Hour.

Gengo is an interesting platform for translators that lets you log on and accept work on your own schedule.

Also, when I was at uni (I studied languages), the tutors would sometimes email us with one-off opportunities for interesting translation work. Contact the staff in your language department and let them know you’d be interested in any work.

Potential earnings: £5-£100 per month

Fiverr is a marketplace for all kinds of freelance services. Jobs are called ‘gigs’ on Fiverr. You can advertise almost any kind of gig you can think of!

In addition to traditional freelance skills such as writing, editing, translation and design, there are all sorts of crazy gigs for sale on Fiverr. I enjoy browsing in the ‘lifestyle’ category on the site to see what kind of things people are making money with.

Here are some interesting gigs I found:

  • Relationship advice
  • Video game coach
  • Singing happy birthday songs
  • Writing a message on a funny sign
  • Creating memes
  • Being an online boyfriend
  • Sending postcards internationally from your hometown

You might wonder who is paying for some of these things, but since typical gigs are just $5 (hence the name), people buy a lot of the weirder gigs as a joke or funny gift for a friend!

You course, you can charge more than $5 if you like. You can earn a lot more if you have an in-demand skill such as coding.

Potential earnings: £200-£1000+ per month

Many companies know they need to get on Facebook to attract more customers, but they don’t know how and don’t have time to learn.

If you can master Facebook ad campaigns, you can offer to run these for local businesses. You could charge a fixed monthly fee, a commission per referral, or a share in profits.

There are lots of resources online to learn Facebook ads, including inexpensive courses on Udemy .

Potential earnings: £200-£500

Transcriptionists turn the spoken word into the written word. This a flexible online job suitable for people with good attention to detail and a fast typing speed .

You can work as a freelance transcriptionist, or with an agency. See this post for a list of places to find work:

Potential earnings: £50-£1000 per month

You probably know Etsy as the online marketplace for hand crafted goods. But did you know you can also sell digital products on Etsy?

This is potentially way more profitable than selling physical goods because you can sell the same digital file over and over again, with no more work from you!

Here are some examples of digital downloads that you can sell on Etsy:

  • stock photos
  • social media templates
  • wedding/party invites
  • printable journal pages, calendars etc
  • printable wall art
  • phone/computer wallpapers
  • Snapchat filters

This is an example of an easy side business that you can launch while still at uni, that could one day grown into a full time income!

Free Printables Workshop

Potential earnings: £30-£1,000+ per post

A female student influencer is sitting on a bed, recording a video with a camera for her online job.

Top social media influencers can famously earn thousands for posting a sponsored post to their millions of followers. But you don’t actually need such a huge following to make money as an influencer.

Many brands are now looking for ‘micro influencers’ who have a smaller niche following. The important thing is that your followers are engaged and active – so don’t ever be tempted to buy followers just to boost your numbers . Most of these are bots and won’t do your stats any good.

In addition to sponsored posts, you can make money from your social following with affiliate links, referral codes, ads or selling merch (depending on the platform).

This is a fun side hustle idea to earn money online as a student. Learn more in this post .

Potential earnings: £50-£1000/month

Print on demand sites let you design your own merch (t-shirts, hoodies, phone covers, tote bags etc) to sell online. The great thing is that the site will handle the printing and shipping, so all you have to do is design and market your products.

And because the goods are literally printed on demand (i.e., when somebody places an order) this keeps costs low and there’s no waste.

This is a good idea for college students to make money online (particularly if you’re an art or design student) because it’s so flexible.

Just work on your designs in your spare time, upload them to a few different sites and you can start earning money even while you’re in lectures or on a night out.

Here are some popular print on demand sites to try:

  • Merch by Amazon
  • Teespring
  • Teelaunch

Read more about my print on demand experience here .

Potential earnings: £10-£50/month

Love discovering new music? Slice the Pie pays you to write reviews of new music tracks.

It’s not very well paid but it’s an easy way to start making money online with no experience, and it could be fun if you love listening to new tracks anyway.

Potential earnings: £5-£15 per task

If you can find out information online quickly, you can earn money online as a researcher. Wonder is one company hiring online researchers now.

Potential earnings: £5-£15 per hour

Clickworker is a website with various online jobs suitable for students. The work includes data entry, research, writing, editing and micro tasks.

Do you watch a lot of TV? The Viewers is a UK based TV market research company. You can earn money by taking part in surveys and focus groups all about the programs you’ve watched!

Potential earnings: £5-£50 per month

Newsflare is a website where you can upload videos that you took on your smartphone. If a publication wants to feature them, you earn money!

The best videos are either cute or funny things with the potential to go viral (think puppies and babies), or breaking events in your local area (coverage of protests, etc).

This post has more info on how it works.

Potential earnings: £50-£2,000 per month

Affiliate marketing is when you share special tracking links to products that you recommend, and you earn commission from the sales made through your link.

Affiliate marketing goes hand in hand with blogging (and it’s how I earn most of my income ), but you can actually earn money with affiliate marketing without a blog.

You can do this by building a following on social media (Facebook groups work well to build a community and share your links) or an email list of people interested in your niche.

I also have a tutorial on how to make money on Pinterest with affiliate marketing (without a blog) .

‘Fulfilment By Amazon’ (FBA) is a way to sell products on Amazon. You send your products into the Amazon warehouse, and let them deal with the storage, shipping, customer service, etc.

It’s an easy way to sell online without having to store loads of inventory yourself. And without the hassle of running to the post office every time you make a sale!

Many people find products to sell by ‘retail arbitrage’ – that is, finding products on sale cheaply in the shops that you can sell online for a higher price.

Alternatively, you can import products (or even have them made!) specially. Many FBAs find cheap Chinese suppliers at Alibaba or Ali Express.

If you’re interested in learning more about FBA, check out this free email course ‘Everything You Need to Know to Start Selling on Amazon’ . The course was created by Jessica of The Selling Family, who makes a full time living on Amazon.

What are the best part time jobs for students in UK?

Any of the ideas in this post will work as part time jobs for students in the UK, such as freelance writing, online tutoring, translation, transcription and so on. Two jobs that are particularly suited to UK students are online English tutoring and matched betting.

English tutoring makes the cut because some companies specifically recruit UK tutors.

And as for matched betting , in my experience, this is the single best way to make decent money online fast. And it is pretty much only available in the UK and Ireland, so we should make the most of it!

How can I make money online under 18?

If you’re still a high school student, it can be harder to find opportunities to make money online under 18, but it’s not impossible! You can make money online with sites such as Freecash, Swagbucks and Slice the Pie.

What are some free online jobs for students without investment?

First off, I want to say that if a company asks for cash upfront – run. This is a sure sign of a scam. There are so many legit ways to make money online with no investment, and you should never have to pay a company just to get a job.

That said, there are some occasions when it makes sense to invest a small amount in the equipment, training or knowledge to start an online job. This is different from paying a company just to work for them.

Some examples are buying a headset so you can teach English online, or paying for web hosting for your blog (this starts at around £3 per month ).

But there are also LOTS of free online jobs you can start with no investment at all! Here are some of them:

  • Virtual Assistant
  • Survey sites
  • ‘Get-paid-to’ sites such as OhMyDosh! and Swagbucks
  • Proofreader
  • Focus groups and research studies

What do you think are the best ways to earn money online as a student?

In this list, I’ve curated 29+ online jobs for students, things that I think are suitable for students specifically because they work around a university schedule.

How To Sell Notes Online

There are plenty of websites that let you sell your notes for cash. However, it's worth mentioning that it's popular to sell college notes for money.

You can  still  sell high-school notes for cash, but this is mostly a side hustle for college students looking to earn some extra cash each month. So, now that you have your notes, let's look at some of the best sites for selling college notes online.

One of the more popular ways to sell college notes online is to use Stuvia .

Stuvia accepts just about anything you might write up for school, including textbook summaries, essays, papers, course notes and more.

Stuvia-sell-college-notes

You set your own rates when you publish your work, then Stuvia will market it to everyone on their site– they even notify the people in your area of study when you publish something!

Stuvia also has a review system, so you can build your reputation and bring in even more sales.

The average earnings you can get from a single document sale is $8.90. But, Stuvia says that note sellers make an average of $103 dollars a month on its platform .

Stuvia is a great place to start selling notes since it accepts a wide variety of notes, essays, and paper; you're not just stuck with selling notes or study guides as with other websites!

2. Nexus Notes

Nexus Notes is a subscription-based platform for note sharing.

As a note seller, you can upload anything from notes, summaries, templates, course guides and tons of other work that you have produced in your courses to earn some passive income on the side.

NexusNotes-Sell-Notes

You also have two options for how you get paid for your notes :

  • Revenue Percentage . Earn a percentage of Nexus Notes' subscription revenue based on how many times students view your notes.
  • Free Access . Read other people's notes on the platform for free the more you upload.

This is a great system if you want to find study material for other courses you're taking and aren't just interested in making money online by selling notes.

However, Nexus Notes sellers earn less on average than other platforms since it reports the average user only makes a few hundred dollars per year.

But even so, a few extra hundred bucks a year is awesome if you're sick of having no money  and struggling through college!

3. OneClass

Most websites that let you sell college notes for money pay you per view or per download, so your notes might make hundreds of dollars or nothing at all.

In contrast, OneClass pays you a flat rate for providing notes for specific classes, so it's nice you know exactly what you're getting paid for your notes.

OneClass-Notetaker

I actually had some friends do this as a side hustle during my second year of college. And from what they told me, you can make decen money selling notes online without much effort work.

However, to sell notes to OneClass, you apply as a notetaker for a specific course.

If your application is successful, there's a brief trial period. Afterwards, you're responsible for uploading class notes and material to the site each week.

You get paid on a per class basis, with each course earning you $470. You also get a reference letter you can use when applying to jobs in the future, and the position itself can help spruce up your resume .

Earning $470 per class isn't actually a great hourly rate when you consider you're selling notes every week.

But if you're taking these notes anyway , uploading them to OneClass is basically a way to earn passive income as a student .

4. Docmerit

Docmerit is a fast and easy way to earn money from your notes.

You set your prices and you keep 85% of the sale, so this is more flexible than selling notes to platforms like OneClass .

Docmerit

Plus, you receive funds from your notes within 24 hours of making a sale, so you can make money fast with Docmerit.

Docmerit recommends uploading notes during exam periods since students are scrambling to find study notes and are willing to pay, so this tip is worth remembering for other note selling websites as well.

Docmerit also recommends promoting your notes by using platforms like Facebook and Twitter. You can do this, especially if you find study Facebook groups for your college where people share notes.

5. Oxbridge Notes

Oxbridge Notes is a UK-based website that lets you sell notes for money.

This platform pays you 50% of the sale price for notes, outlines, sample test questions, and test answers .

Oxbridge-Notes

Oxbridge Notes states that its users make about $250 a year , which you can collect throughout the year at the beginning of every month. Overall, it's a nice way to earn money online for beginners while helping out your fellow classmates.

One important thing to consider is that you have to be pre-approved to become a seller on the platform and they don’t accept handwritten notes, which can be an additional challenge depending on your note taking style.

However, you can sell a variety of notes, and the ability to also sell test banks and even sample test questions is a perk of selling with Oxbridge Notes.

6. StudySoup

If you like the idea of selling college notes for entire courses to get paid, StudySoup is another website like OneClass you can make money with.

To sell notes to StudySoup, you have to apply to be an Elite Notetaker.

StudySoup-Notetaker

The application process involves providing some basic information like :

  • Your school's name
  • Your full name
  • Picking an email and password

From there, you complete a quick training session and are then responsible for uploading weekly notes and study guides if you're approved.

StudySoup states you earn about $5 for each upload but that you can earn up to $500 per course you cover , so the overall pay is similar to OneClass.

In this video from StudySoup, one student from Michigan State University explains how she earned almost $400 from uploading one study guide to the site:

Of course, this is a promotional video from StudySoup, so take all of this sort of information with a grain of salt.

Typed notes tend to do best, but you are allowed to upload written notes if that’s your preferred method.

According to StudySoup, their Elite Notetakers can bring in anywhere from $300 to $500 a month, which is a pretty solid income for a side hustle that requires little additional effort.

7. Studypool

Another very popular way to earn money by selling notes is to sell through Studypool .

Studypool states that you can earn $5,000 per month by selling your notes, exam prep material, homework, and textbook summaries .

Studypool

Documents can earn up to $10 every time someone views it, and Studypool covers dozens of subjects, including:

  • Computer Science
  • Digital Marketing
  • Political Science

The depth of topics and high pay rate makes Studypool quite enticing for selling your college notes.

Plus, you can also apply to become a Studypool tutor if you want to teach subjects like English or math or just help students with specific homework questions for one-time payments.

Top selling notes have apparently earned thousands of dollars, and some sellers report making a few hundred dollars a month through regular note uploads, so it’s definitely a good place to go if you’re looking to turn this into a side hustle.

You still have to get approved to sell notes to Studypool, but this is definitely one of the best note selling platforms due to the number of students on it and variety of topics.

8. GradeBuddy

Another way to sell study guides and notes and get paid on a per-course basis is to sell with GradeBuddy .

GradeBuddy

GradeBuddy lets you earn in two different ways :

  • Upload Individual Notes . Upload your notes freely to the database and make money whenever someone purchases that specific note. This is a great option if you want less commitment but still want to get paid for the notes you’re taking.
  • Cover An Entire Course . Sign up for a specific course and make up to $500 by uploading weekly notes and exam study guides. This is the highest paying option but requires more work– although its bound to keep your attendance up and help you stay on top of your work.

If you don't have perfect attendance, you're better off uploading individual notes.

However, if you cover a course or two, that's potentially $1,000 in extra cash for you by selling your notes to GradeBuddy!

9. Notesale

Notesale is another site that makes selling college notes fast and easy. To get started, just upload your notes and set your price, then Notesale will handle the rest.

You get to set your own prices, and Notesale basically asks for some info about the notes you're uploading and then saves them in a PDF format so others can download them .

Notesale

Unfortunately, there's not much information on average earnings for Notesale, and you need to set competitive prices in order to make more sales– which means you may not be bringing home all that much at the end of the day.

However, if you're struggling to sell your notes for cash with other websites, you can quickly upload them to Notesale, set low prices, and see if you earn something.

10. Course Hero

Course Hero doesn't compensate students financially for uploading notes, but you can earn rewards for uploaded documents that can go towards gaining free access to study materials on their website.

In other words, you can upload study notes and exam guides to Course Hero to access other guides on the website.

Course-Hero

So, if you're struggling to take lecture notes for all of your classes, you can use Course Hero to catch up by sharing the notes you already have with other students.

Now, if you’re looking to make money with Course Hero, you can try its tutoring program and earn you up to $500 a month.

However, this will take up more of your time when you could just upload your notes to a platform that will actually pay you for them.

11. Sell Directly To Students

One final option for you to sell notes and earn money is to sell them directly to your fellow students.

You have to work out individual arrangements with classmates for this to work. But when I was in college, some people did this and sold notes, test prep material, and study guides to other people.

This can also be something you do after you finish a course if you sell to new students about to take that same course.

How Much Money Can You Make Selling Notes?

Can you actually make money selling notes?

You definitely can, and many of the best note selling websites have thousands or even millions of students who buy notes from other students.

However, it's important to remember that while selling your notes is an easy way to make some extra cash to help out with school, it’s probably not going to make you rich.

There's a lot of competition out there, and it also takes time to find a platform that will give you the best price for your work, as well as for you to get a grasp on what kind of formats students are looking for when buying notes.

There's also some other factors that influence how much you can sell your notes for, including :

  • Age . The older your notes are, the harder they are to sell since textbook editions and information becomes outdated.
  • Add-Ons . Adding things like test banks, study guides, and practice questions to your notes can help you sell them for higher amounts.
  • Depth . Generally, you can sell school notes for more money if you cover an entire semester and have very in-depth notes.
  • Subject . Very complex subjects like math or programming are more specialized and can therefore fetch a higher price than subjects like English, although your market is smaller.
  • Timing . As mentioned, selling notes during midterms and exams increases urgency in students so you can make more sales.

Depending on the site you use and the quality of notes you're putting out there, it’s safe to say you could easily make a few hundred dollars a month as long as you're consistent.

The right platform will depend on what school you go to and what classes you take, but from there you should focus on selling your notes to the highest bidder– that’s when you’ll see the money roll in.

Alternatives To Selling Notes For Money

There are plenty of ways to sell notes and earn money. However, students should know that this side hustle takes time to get started.

Additionally, if you don't have  very  high-quality notes or notes for a popular subject, it might be tough to find consistent buyers.

Thankfully, there are numerous alternatives to note selling websites students can use to make quick money like :

  • Using side gig apps like DoorDash and Instacart to make money delivering food and groceries
  • Making money with freelancing ( writing , social media management, web design, etc.)
  • Trying online jobs that pay like being a customer service rep or virtual assistant
  • Online tutoring with companies like BookNook or in-person private tutoring
  • Starting a blog or YouTube channel or some sort of online business
  • Answering questions for money with different survey websites

Diving gigs like DoorDash or Instacart are a perfect example since they are way more stable and predictable than selling notes online for money.

And if you sell your skills as a freelancer, which is what I do with freelance writing, the income ceiling is much higher.

Just something to keep in mind! You can still sell notes online to earn money, but don't be afraid to explore other money-making ideas!

What Are The Best Notes Selling Websites?

The best websites to sell notes include StudySoup, Nexus Notes, and Stuvia. These platforms accept notes, essays, and study guides, and they're all very easy to use and can turn into an excellent passive income source for detailed note takers .

Just note that it can take a long time to make money with this side hustle. And not every subject or type of notes can make money if demand from students isn't high enough.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is selling class notes illegal.

This is a common misconception (and something my college professors tried very hard to get us to believe). However, it’s 100% legal to sell your college notes for money, as long as everything is in your own words.

Anything produced by your professors or institutions is considered intellectual property, so selling that online would be considered a crime– but anything you produce yourself is fair game.

However, you should always research your college or university's policies to see if they mention selling notes.

According to different Reddit threads , here's what some college students said about how to make money selling notes:

  • tell-me-your-side says : “I believe that this gives the site full rights to your documents. Also, this can get you kicked out of many universities. Check your institution's policies first.”

sell-college-notes-Reddit

As you can see, these students are skeptical that you can sell your notes without getting caught, so do some due diligence and read what your school's policy is.

If you want another side hustle, you can always try flipping books on Amazon since college textbooks are a great, high-margin item to flip!

Is It illegal To Buy Notes Online?

Just like it's not illegal to sell notes, it’s not illegal to buy them either. If you pay for the notes they are yours to use, you’re just not allowed to sell them to anyone else.

How Do You Sell Study Guides Online?

Many websites accept (and even require) study guides.

These can look different depending on the subject or course, but usually, study guides summarize all the key terms and concepts that are going to be on the midterm or exam.

Study guides can also include practice questions and answers, which many students look for specifically to help them feel prepared stepping into the exam room.

The benefit to these is that it’s just a round up of all the notes you’ve already taken, plus putting it together is good study prep for you and you can charge a higher price for them.

Final Thoughts

You work hard as a student, and it's often difficult to juggle your workload with a part-time college job .

But, if money is tight, why not make money selling notes you already have?

Good quality notes can be hard to get and it’s not a skill that comes easily to everyone. You’re benefiting yourself and possibly hundreds of other students by putting your school notes up for sale online.

Even if you just make an extra $200 a month , every little bit counts when you're a student, so give this online side hustle a try!

Hopefully, our list of the best websites to sell notes helps you sell college notes and make some easy cash on the side.

15 Companies and Websites Like Chegg (Get Paid For Homework Help)

Looking for the best Chegg alternatives? Below you’ll find a collection of useful sites like Chegg to earn money as an online tutor providing homework help.

Of websites that offer homework help, Chegg might well be the most popular one. It has abundant work, offers great rates, and provides its tutors with flexible opportunities.

Getting started is easy too. As long as you are ready to verify your identity and provide qualification documents, you are only an interview-style exam away from becoming a tutor.

Unfortunately, passing the exam is not guaranteed. And even if you pass, the competition for work is often too high. You may not hit the ground running.

This article is for you if you are looking for websites like Chegg that pay tutors to provide homework assistance.

Read on for the top 15 Chegg alternatives.

The best websites like Chegg

1. course hero.

Course Hero is a learning platform with a vast library of crowdsourced resources that benefits millions of students worldwide. Like Chegg, Course Hero hires English-speaking freelance tutors to answer questions for around $3 a question.

No certification or proof of experience is required to join Course Hero. The platform gives you the benefit of the doubt and only locks you out if you do not pass the initial aptitude test.

As a Course Hero tutor, you can expect to make between $12 and $20 per hour, or up to $1,500 per month. Payments are made through PayPal.

2. SweetStudy

Formerly known as HomeworkMarket, SweetStudy is one of the oldest platforms in academic writing. It pays freelancers to do homework, proofread homework, and answer individual questions.

SweetStudy has a market-standard pay rate of $5-$20, though contractors have to forego 20% of their earnings, which the platform cuts as commission. The remainder can be withdrawn via PayPal, Western Union, Payoneer, or Wise.

You can become a freelancer at SweetStudy without any qualifications or experience. It’s, however, more lucrative if you have a college degree, as some assignments are strictly assigned to verified tutors.

To find work, you will first need to create a profile, showcasing your skills and rates, after which SweetStudy will give you access to their job pool.

Note that, unlike many websites like Chegg, SweetStudy won’t take down assignments once someone starts doing them. Instead, they will remain accessible to all eligible freelancers until the student finds a satisfying answer.

3. Studypool

Studypool is a great place if you are a college student or graduate looking to get paid to help other students do their homework.

The registration process is a short but tough one. Candidates write a 200-word essay and then go through an interview, which tests their English proficiency.

You will be eligible to do assignments and answer live questions immediately after your registration is approved.

Since Studypool is a bidding site, your ability to get assignments partly depends on your bidding language, profile history, and chosen pay rate.

According to Studypool, its highest earners pocket up to $7,500 per month.

You Might Also Like: 15 Sites Like Studypool For Tutors

Reddit may not be the dedicated homework help site we asked for, but some of its 48 million users are students looking for help with their homework.

Many of these are individuals dodging the high service fees of companies like Chegg or seeking direct unfiltered interaction with their helpers.

The r/hwforcash subreddit has over 16k followers. You can view it even without a Reddit account, but you must be logged in to interact with anyone.

Reddit has no specific rules regarding homework help. There is also no protection whatsoever from potential scammers either.

However, if you are looking for long-term clients, Reddit is your best bet. Other sites like Chegg don’t encourage sharing of contacts between users.

5. PaperCoach

PaperCoach offers homework help to students of all education levels. So it doesn’t matter whether your specialty is writing high school, college, or PhD assignments. If you know your thing, the platform welcomes you to submit your application.

The registration process involves CV submission followed by qualification verification. You can start working immediately after your account is approved, which, in many cases, takes several days to a few weeks.

The job pool is not always brimming with assignments, especially when schools are closed, but work will always be available for the most experienced and qualified writers. So while putting your all into earning decent money, ensure your clients are happy too.

PaperCoach’s minimum pay rate is $8 per page.

More sites and companies like Chegg

6. helpwithassignment.

Not many companies like Chegg pay their writers $9.50 per page. HelpWithAssignment offers that as the minimum rate.

But that doesn’t come on a silver platter. To join, tutors must have at least two years of teaching experience or a Master’s or Ph.D. They also have to take and pass an entrance test.

Approved tutors provide services such as:

  • Assignment assistance
  • Live tutoring
  • Answering questions in the platform’s solution library

While you can make good money bidding for random tasks on the job pool, creating bonds with repeat clients is your best bet to make HelpWithAssignment a primary income source.

7. 24hoursanswers

For $45 per hour on average, 24hoursanswers gives tutors an opportunity to work with college students seeking homework help and live online tutoring.

You need a Master’s degree or, if you are a student, an exceptional performance record to join 24hoursanswers as a tutor.

The job pool is open to everyone who gets the initial approval. Work postings may not be as orderly as in Chegg, but the platform counterbalances that by letting homework helpers give an estimate of the time it will take to complete an assignment.

As a helper, you also get to negotiate the pay rate directly with the student.

24hoursanswers pays freelancers via Payoneer, PayPal, ACH payments, and bank transfers. Payments are sent out monthly.

8. Schoolsolver

Schoolsolver is different from many websites like Chegg in that tutors and homework helpers can be paid several times for the same answer if it’s bought more than once. The platform also insists that helpers show their work so students can learn in the process.

What I like most about Schoolsolver is fancy academic papers are not part of the registration prerequisites. You can sign up with or without a degree and offer help in as many subjects as you wish.

Before that, however, you will need to get at least 90% on quizzes for the specific subjects you want to handle.

You can make an average of $15 per hour on Schoolsolver. The site will cut a 20% commission per answer and an additional 2% when withdrawing your cumulative earnings to your PayPal account.

TutorMe is one of my favorite Chegg alternatives for providing multiple ways for freelancers to make money.

You can teach virtually anything on the site, from Mathematics and Physics to coding, animation, and music. All you need is information about your educational background and work experience, and you’re good to go!

A requirement you may want to remember – although it’s an unlikely entry barrier – is that all tutors must be at least 18 years old. They must also reside in the US or Canada and have a degree or be a college sophomore.

If your application is approved, you can make at least $16 per hour.

If the 21-subject catalog at TutorMe shocked you, here is a site that assists students in more than 300 subjects. On Wyzant , anything goes.

No formal education is required, and there is no need to prepare for an interview because there is none.

You must be really good in at least one subject, though. The marketplace is too crowded to accommodate mediocrity, let alone give you a second chance.

What’s more, the commission over there is a whopping 25%. That is, if you make $100 from a subject, Wyzant will cut $25 for being the go-between.

Wyzant considers its tutors independent contractors and therefore lets them decide their pay rate, teaching method, and lesson frequency.

According to the site, most tutors charge between $35 and $63, which is a pretty competitive range compared to what other sites like Chegg have to offer.

Other sites similar to Chegg

11. oneclass.

How do you like being paid in redeemable credits? That’s what OneClass has in store for you.

You could be forgiven for thinking that’s the sole weird thing about the platform. Apparently, the company doesn’t just pay you for doing other people’s homework. It also pays you for uploading notes.

Basically, it is a student-to-student platform, although nothing formal and strict is in place to ensure only students access the site.

OneClass is not as lucrative as most of the sites on this list, but it can be an excellent income source if you have some tutoring experience and actually have notes to share.

Tutors earn 25 credits for every approved file they upload – or thrice that if they are an Elite Note Taker. The credits are redeemable for cash or gift cards at Domino’s Starbucks, Amazon, and other major stores.

12. Freelancer

Freelancer will appear anywhere online work is mentioned, and deservedly so. The site has over 61 million users and can be accessed from anywhere worldwide.

Many freelance workers fancy Freelancer.com because it is free to join, is friendly to beginners, and allows contractors to decide their own pay rates. Additionally, it offers multiple withdrawal options (PayPal, Skrill, Wire Transfer, Express Withdrawal).

To thrive on Freelancer providing homework help, make sure your profile stands out because that’s where everything begins. Proper use of keywords and a thorough self-marketing approach will suffice.

The bidding wars over at Upwork were not a reason enough to make me leave it out of the list.

The platform may be notorious for being overcrowded, but that is not exclusive to the contractors’ side. There is an astonishingly huge number of clients too.

Your work is to ensure you have a good profile, reasonable pay rates, and good work ethics, and you will stand out.

Many homework helpers do not sign up for Upwork because it is not dedicated to connecting tutors and students. That makes sense, of course, since the platform is not tailored for tutoring, but it’s also misleading.

Some of the highest freelance earners work on Upwork, and let’s face it; registration is free, and no experience is required to use it. Why not try it and form your own opinion?

14. Eduboard

Hiring US and Canadian graduates and senior students, Eduboard is a website similar to Chegg that helps students do their homework and prepare for exams and tests.

If you have never heard of it, that is because it is still a young company with few mentions here and there.

Subjects that you can help with include Science, Math, Computer Science, Languages, Journalism, Social Studies, and Arts.

It is possible that you may not find your area of expertise, but the company invites you to request its inclusion.

Eduboard simplifies tutoring and homework by providing three tutoring options – online sessions, video tutorials, and quick answers.

Online sessions pay $20 per half an hour, while quick answers and video tutorials start from $2 and $15 respectively. The student gets to decide how you will teach them.

Skooli invites you to join their team if you believe you have what it takes to teach and offer homework help. The Toronto-based company pays CAD$25 per hour and lets contractors to set their own schedule.

You can join Skooli from any region in the world, and it doesn’t matter whether you are a native or a non-native English speaker. All you need, according to the site, is expertise, a computer, and an internet connection.

By expertise we mean teaching certifications and proof of education. These you will provide during the initial registration. A representative will call you to discuss your qualifications and answer your questions only if you pass this stage.

Skooli pays its contractors via PayPal. You can request a payout anytime you cross the $100 threshold and expect the money in your account the following Friday.

Which site did you like most? Don’t shy from finding more information about it on the internet.

Offering online homework help can be a well-paying side hustle, and if you have what it takes, nothing should stop you from launching yourself into the game.

27 WAYS TO MAKE MONEY FROM HOME IN THE UK – UPDATED FOR 2023

Times are changing and making money from home in the UK has never been easier.  Years ago there were a handful of ways that you may have been able to work from home but today more and more people are realising that the traditional 9-5 job is becoming a thing of the past.

We live in a society now where, thankfully for us, there is more choice than ever.  Giving us the opportunity to work from home on our own terms, providing more flexibility and time with the people we love and doing the things we love to do.

I am often asked what are the best ways to make money from home here in the UK, so today I will share 27 of the best ways with you.

So, whether you are looking to boost your cash or to change your life completely, you are sure to find something here that suits you!

1. Start Matched Betting (Yes it’s legal and no it’s not gambling)!

Matched Betting, despite the name, is not gambling and is totally legal.  It’s basically a way of making a guaranteed profit by taking advantage of the free offers provided by bookmakers.

When I first read about matched betting I was very sceptical which stopped me from making money straight away, but once I started, what I found, was that it was relatively simple and a great way to make some tax free cash.

You can read my full post about how it all works here and read about my first 12 months doing Matched Betting here.

2.  Rent Out Your Unused Space

Gone are the days of properties mostly earning income from live-in tenants. These days, the free space in your house can be a  consistent passive income source  in a couple of other interesting ways.

Take storage rentals, for example. If you have extra space in your garage or home, you can earn money by providing a temporary storage solution to a family busy renovating or moving.

I get it. Storage rentals can make you a lot of money, but the idea isn’t exactly groundbreaking. There’s another way to earn from home that not a lot of people know about yet.

Thanks to modern technology, you can also make money when you  rent parking space in your driveway, of all places.

Think about the struggling soul who can’t find a parking space before work every day. A platform like Stashbee (which coincidentally does parking  and  storage space rentals) throws them a bone by suggesting a bunch of monthly rental options from local listings at fixed prices.

But the renter isn’t the only person who benefits. Hosts can make up to £760 pounds a month just by offering parking space in the right area. Cha-ching!

3. Take Surveys to Make Extra Money

Surveys are soooo simple.  You can fill them in whilst watching the TV at night or fit them in during your lunch break.  Let’s be clear, you are never going to get rich doing surveys, but filling out regular simple ones can earn you a nice extra £100-£200 per month if you are consistent.

You can find Genuine Survey Sites in the UK here.

My favourite survey site is Prolific Academic.  You can sign up for free and start doing surveys here.

Mobrog is also a great survey site. You can even download the app to your phone!   Mobrog has a 5 star rating on trustpilot so well worth taking a look at.

4. Become a Chatline Operator

When I interviewed a stay at home mom about her career as a Chatline Operator, I was amazed to learn that you can earn up to £2000 per month with this side hustle.  A job that’s sure to make you blush, but may be worth it for the financial rewards on offer.   Read the full interview here.

5. Earn a Regular Income on e-Bay

This is one of my favourite ways to make money.  With a little time and effort, creating a little e-Bay business or two can pay you for years to come and is totally flexible to fit around family life from home.

8. Make Extra Money with Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing in a nutshell is where you earn money by recommending products you use to other people.  The earning potential with affiliate marketing is huge and a large chunk of my monthly income comes from this.

Click here to read a step by step guide to how Affiliate Marketing works.

My affiliate marketing income grew after taking this $7 course.   I can’t recommend it enough if you want to learn from somebody who has already done it and earns a multiple six-figure income!

9. Start Digital Marketing

Digital Marketing is my new favourite way to make money online, and it can be done from anywhere in the world!

When I first looked into it, I thought it looked complicated so I sat on the sidelines and watched.  What a mistake that was!  I decided to jump in and bought a couple of low cost courses to learn the basics.  The courses were good but when it came to the tech side of things I was left hanging with no support.  Because of that, I only made a few dollars here and there BUT I could see the potential so I began looking for something where all the tech was done for me, an automated business where I could make more than just a few dollars and guess what I found it!  I found a Blueprint that is proven and I couldn’t be more excited.

Within 48 hours my website was set up for me, all the tech stuff was done for me and I had step-by-step instructions to connect the few bits I needed to (which for a non-techy person like me was perfect).

In addition, there was a free community of over 4,000 people for support AND mentorship from a 6 figure earner!  Because of all this, I had 70 leads in my first week and made my first high-ticket sale within days!  I was seriously blown away!

The amazing thing about this, is the profit is 100% so you can earn $50, $150 or $300 for each sale paid daily. $300 daily is a whopping $109,000 a year!  If you want to see what the Blueprint is all about, go here and you can watch the free video.

10. Sell Digital Products

The thing I love about selling digital products is that you don’t have to handle anything physically.  Therefore, there is no need for postage, packing and storage of products.

You simply sell products online.  These could be in the form of:

  • Digital Printables
  • Photographs
  • Graphic Art
  • Audio and Music

This is a great way to make passive income while you sleep too! If you don’t want to create your own digital products, you can sell someone elses, and for 100% profit.  Learn how here.

Can you type?  Are you organised? Are you a whizz on social media? Do you have office skills that you would like to utilise at home?  Then why not become a virtual assistant.

As the on-line business world grows, more and more people are in need of support to run their on-line businesses and that’s where you come in.  You could find yourself supporting on-line marketers or large international companies.  The opportunities are endless.

I touched on some of the opportunities available in this post here.

13. Become a Mystery Shopper

Mystery shopping is so much fun.  I have done a number of mystery shops, including visiting a travel agent and pretending to be interested in booking a holiday to checking out how tidy a bank was.  However, you can also do mystery shopping from home.

I have done mystery shopping jobs on the telephone and also by inviting people into my home to provide quotations.  For one of the jobs, I got paid £250 for about 3 hours work , not bad eh!  Here is a list of reputable mystery shopping companies in the UK, although not all of them will provide work from home opportunities.

  • GBW Solutions
  • GFK Mystery Shopping

  • Performance in People
  • QDOS mystery shopping
  • Retail Active
  • Retail Maxim

15. Make Extra Money by Entering Competitions

Competitions are a fun and exciting way to make money and if you take it seriously and put in the hours you could actually find yourself making a full-time income from it.

Winning prizes and selling them is a great way to make money from home in the UK and anybody can do it!

Not convinced?  You can read here how you could win over £20,000 in prizes. Also,  read here how one UK Blogger won over £11,000 in prizes in one year.

Maybe now it looks a little more interesting?  If you fancy trying your hand at becoming a serious comper, then I recommend  this book you can buy off Amazon .  It has great reviews, was written by a professional comper and shares all the tips and tricks you need to be successful!

16. Join 20 Cogs

20 Cogs is simply a website where you earn money by completing offers. This usually involves signing up to various companies (some well known such as Amazon and some less known).

Each time you complete an offer you earn a set amount, from £2.50 to £30.  These payments add up very quickly!

As you complete each ‘cog’ the colour will change to show it’s been completed and then approved but be patient because it can sometimes take a couple of days for the offer to go through.

You can earn a total of £200 if you complete all the cogs but there are a few things to be aware of.

Firstly, I would recommend you set up a separate e-mail address as you are likely to receive lots of junk mail from the offers into your inbox.  Also make sure you read all the small print on the offers and only sign up to the ones you feel comfortable with.

Overall, 20 cogs is a great way to make an extra £100-£200 from home.  You can sign up and get started for free here.

The tasks may not be very exciting but can usually be fitted in whilst you are out and about or in between other jobs.

If you fancy earning money from your phone, I highly recommend you download this book for just 99p.   It lists 50 legitimate apps to make you money. You’ll make that money back in your first day so it won’t actually cost you a penny to get started.

You then link your Youtube account to Google Adsense and make money from the ads shown on your video.

This, unless you are very lucky, is not a way to get rich quick.  However, with time and effort, you can make yourself a nice income from home, working around your existing life.

Is Doing Homework for Money Legal?

Yes, it is. No law says you cannot offer homework as a paid service, although others would frown on it as “cheating.”

Doing homework for money has been around for years, and the market for it continues to grow.

Before you conclude that more students nowadays are too lazy to study and inclined to cheat, think about the following types of students:

  • Students who do not understand their homework
  • Those going through serious personal problems that distract them from their studies

Get Paid To Do Homework For Money Summary

Doing homework for money is a legitimate service and source of income. Some are opposed to it because of the ethical concerns that are raised against it.

However, getting help to complete assignments is a student’s or a parent’s personal choice, and nobody can discount the benefits of homework assistance.

Getting paid to help someone with their assignment is a personal choice, too. It also is rewarding for the instructor to help a student solve a problem.

When you decide to become an online tutor from home, make the opportunity worthwhile for both you and the student.

Ways to make money online in the UK

There are plenty of decent ways to make money online from the comfort of your own home.

We’ve been making money online in various ways since 2013, working from home or in a cafe and having a flexible life around family and business.

Making cash online not only gives us a huge amount of freedom on our terms, but it also led us to eventually build a passive income where we make money in our sleep.

More and more people are now earning money working from home, both for themselves and their regular employers.

With this in mind, there has never been a better time for you to start earning money online.

Table of Contents

How to make money at home

1. online surveys.

A popular and super-easy way to make money online is by participating in online paid surveys.

I enjoy doing them as they can take anywhere from one minute to 10 minutes, and I can be sat on the sofa with something on Netflix at the same time.

It’s just a matter of filling in a few forms and giving your opinion, and then I get paid in cash. I regularly get paid £2.50 (and more) for doing each survey.

Start with these three survey panels: LifePoints , YouGov and Opinion Outpost and then check out our full guide on the best paid online surveys for the best of the rest.

You could expect to earn up to £200 in extra money a month in your bank account or PayPal account if you sign up and take part in multiple survey sites.

2. Paid for searching the web

Search the web and get paid for it. Sounds simple, and it actually is.

Right now, a number of legitimate companies, such as Qmee.com pay you for what you do already – search online.

All you have to do is sign up to Qmee , install their spam-free browser extension, and you are all set.

Now, when you search for something online – if relevant – Qmee will provide you with search results which you can click on for free money .

A typical payment is between 4p – 15p, and you can cash out immediately as there are no minimum withdrawal limits.

Get paid for searching the web with these other companies and start boosting your bank balance today.

3. Start a blog

A blog is a great money making idea that can be a serious way to earn money in your spare time.

If you’re looking for success stories, take Skint Dad as just one example.

We set up a blog one evening from the kitchen table, and it’s now a full-blown online business, earning us thousands of pounds in passive income every month.

You can start a blog quickly with Bluehost, and it’s cheap to get going.

With your own website, you can make money through advertising, sponsorship, affiliate networks /marketing, or even create your own products to sell to your audience.

4. Use your social media “influence”

You might think you’re not an “influencer”, but anyone with a friend online can be a micro-influencer and earn money.

Whether you have your own YouTube channel or have a few followers on Instagram, TikTok or Twitter, one easy way ways you can make money is with affiliate marketing.

You can make immediate money by promoting the services or products from another company, whether it be food, clothes or switching energy companies directly through your social media accounts.

Get started with the Amazon affiliate program and sign up with AWIN , which are a couple of the best platforms, then share affiliate links. There are more affiliate networks listed here.

When someone clicks on your link and buys something, you will earn a commission.

5. Free money

Have you heard the famous saying: “nothing in life is free”? Well, that’s not entirely true. All over the internet, there are opportunities to get hold of free money.

The free money is usually from companies who want you to sign up for their service/product in the hope you become a long-term user. And for this, they sometimes offer a cash incentive.

A few of my favourite free money offers include £16 free cashback from Quidco when you subscribe to our weekly newsletter and a £10 sign up bonus from Swagbucks .

Check out our guide to free money offers for everything you need to get cash in your pocket today.

6. Review websites and apps for cash

coffee cup next to laptop

Ever hate how a website or app works but don’t think you can do anything about it?

Well, that can now change.

You’re not only able to share your thoughts (the good and bad) about websites and apps, but you can also get paid for your thoughts.

Paid web testing sites

  • usertesting.com – Earn $4 for every 5-minute test, $10 USD for every 20-minute test and between $30 USD to $120 USD for live interviews.
  • userlytics.com – Earn between $5 and $90, depending on the project.
  • intellizoom.com – Earn between $2 and $10 per study.
  • usefeel.com – Earn $10 for each test.
  • utest.com – Payout unknown.

Paid app testing sites

  • betafamily.com – Earn between $5 and $20 per test.
  • ferpection.com – Earn between $10 – $20 per test.

7. Get paid to play games

There are places where you can make money online and simply play games.

The sites earn money through adverts and pay some of their revenue back to you.

Start off with Swagbucks , Toluna and InboxPounds , which are some of my favourites.

The majority of these sites pay you via PayPal or virtual gift cards from various retailers.

> Sign up to Swagbucks here for a £10 welcome bonus!

8. Sell your photos to get extra cash

woman taking photo with phone

Ever wonder where images on websites, blogs or marketing material come from?

Someone takes the photo and will earn money when someone else buys it.

Anyone with a smartphone has a pretty decent camera in hand, so you can take some stunning photos or even boring ones – if they sell, does it matter what you’re taking photos of?

Sell images to stock photography websites like Shutterstock or iStockphoto .

When they sell your photos, you earn royalties, although it may only be a few pennies at a time.

To make good money, you will need a lot of photos uploaded, so get snapping!

9. Flip domain names

Good money can be made by buying and selling domain names.

You don’t need to have an actual website – you initially buy a .com, .co.uk or even a .net that hasn’t been registered but you think someone may really want and just hold onto them.

They are cheap to buy too and start from a few quid .

When the internet first got popular, getting hold of domain names was easier, but lots have been taken.

But, there are still endless possibilities of domains that have never been registered.

10. Get paid to watch videos

Instead of just completing surveys or tasks, there are places you can make money online when you watch videos online.

Join sites like the iRazoo website and the WeAre8 app that pay you for watching videos. I’ve found that payments are relatively low, but you aren’t giving much of your free time, and they do start to add up.

You will get paid via PayPal.

Check out all the ways you can watch ads for money here.

11. Become a reseller

Buy low, sell high.

Seems easier enough to say, but where do you start, and what items sell?

What about if you could buy stuff mega cheap in the first place? This would give you more chance of selling for a decent profit.

There are plenty of wholesale sites where you can find products to sell.

However, why not look at a cheaper option of return pallets and reselling ex-catalogue and liquidated stock?

You can even legally buy stolen goods from police auctions to resell online. These are items that the Police haven’t been able to return to their rightful owners.

12. Flip items

The resale market is worth billions, so why not get in on the act?

All you need to do is buy low and sell high, which all sounds easy enough.

It’s an easy way to make extra money online as you can buy online, and then sell online.

But what do you choose to sell? We’ve looked into the best things to buy and sell for profit (UK) .

13. Get paid to make videos on YouTube

Woman making a video

If you’re happy being on the other side of the camera, why not make money with YouTube?

You can get started for free with the camera on your phone.

You can earn cash online from people watching the content you create through advertising revenue.

Maybe you don’t want to be the star – you don’t need to do pranks – many YouTubers earn money doing simple reviews, streaming while they play games or show make-up tutorials.

If you’ve got a hobby or talent, share it on video with others.

As soon as you get 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours, you can start monetising on YouTube (oh, and subscribe to us , pretty please).

Some YouTubers with a huge following are making millions (find out how to make a million pound yourself!).

For a smaller channel, you will still look to earn around £1 for every 1,000 views on your channel.

As your channel grows and you have more content, the extra money you make will simply scale at the same time.

Looking for a new challenge and more pay? Here are the highest paying jobs (UK) without degree

14. Publish an eBook

woman writing on a laptop

Whether you want to write a novel or maybe even share your knowledge on a particular subject, you don’t need to get a publishing deal to become an author.

You can make money online by self-publishing and selling a digital book via sites like Amazon.

As soon as your books start to sell from online sites you’ll make money immediately.

15. Sell things online with dropshipping

woman using a tablet

Running an online store might seem like it’s about holding stock and spending your life in the queue at the post office, but you could consider drop shipping as a way to make extra cash from home.

The idea is that a third party holds the stock, you promote the item via an online shop, and when it sells, the third party sends it to the end customers.

You never touch or handle any stock, so don’t need a spare room – you are just selling stuff.

What makes owning a drop shipping store good as a new business idea is that you don’t need to purchase any stock in advance so the set-up costs are a lot cheaper.

16. Start a clothing business

Take a look at the full details of how to start a clothing business for a different business model for you to sell clothes.

You could be creative and come up with your own designs, have a creative flair and make your own, or flip clothing.

There are loads more side hustle ideas here.

17. Online tutoring

Teaching people online is a great way of making money in your spare time.

Since more people are used to using their internet access for schooling and work now, they are keener and understand the benefits of online tutoring. Find out how to become a tutor and how much you could get paid!

It’s a good jobs for ex teachers as you can use the classroom skills you’ve already gained.

However, if you are a pro at another skill, there is no reason not to investigate tutoring as money making ideas.

You don’t always need to think about traditional classroom topics. Perhaps you are good at creating YouTube videos or editing them, or you are a great musician?

There are plenty of freelance jobs or a part time job there, but there is nothing stopping you from building up to full time hours.

As it’s all through earning money online, you are not fixed to just a UK audience – you have the whole world.

Also, check out teaching English online as another way to start making money online.

18. Become a comper

woman winning free money online

A comper is someone who enters competitions.

And there can be some serious money to be made – it’s not always down to luck but is also on volume.

Use competition databases like Loquax or Prize Finder and get entering.

The more you enter, the more chance you have of winning.

In the past, we’ve won over £20,000 worth of prizes from entering competitions, and it’s definitely a way to make more money online. You also don’t pay tax on any competition wins!

Some of our best wins are £10k in cash, family breaks, red carpet experiences (and lots of pencils – but everyone loves a pencil, right?!)

It’s a bit of a money saving tip, too, as it might stop you from buying as much stuff!

Check out: How I’ve won £20k entering free competitions (and how you can too)

ways to make money from home

How to Get Paid to Do Homework

As a student, homework can sometimes be overwhelming, and finding ways to make it more manageable can be a priority. One solution that has become increasingly popular is getting paid for doing homework. While it may seem like an easy way to earn some extra cash, there are things to consider before pursuing this option.

In this blog article, we will explore how to get paid for doing homework, including the benefits and drawbacks of this approach. We will also discuss the potential risks and legal considerations involved in such an undertaking. If you are considering this option, keep reading to learn more.

Reasons Why Students Pay for Homework Assistance

The modern academic landscape is marked by increasing pressure and demands on students’ time and energy. As a result, some students turn to paying for someone else to do their homework. While this practice raises ethical questions, it is crucial to explore the underlying reasons why students may resort to this option.

  • Time Constraints and Overwhelming Workload: Students often face a multitude of assignments, exams, extracurricular activities, and personal commitments. As a result, they may feel overwhelmed and struggle to find sufficient time to complete all their homework tasks. Paying for homework allows them to delegate some of the workload and free up time for other responsibilities.
  • Difficult Subjects or Concepts: Certain subjects or complex concepts can pose challenges for students. They may lack the necessary understanding or find it difficult to grasp the content despite their best efforts. Seeking professional help or paying for expert assistance can provide them with the necessary guidance and support to complete their assignments accurately.
  • Desire for Higher Grades: Academic performance is crucial for students’ future prospects, and some may resort to paying for homework in the hopes of securing better grades. They may believe that professional writers or tutors can deliver superior quality work, leading to improved academic outcomes.
  • Balancing Multiple Priorities: Students juggle various commitments outside of academia, such as part-time jobs, family responsibilities, or personal challenges. In such cases, paying for homework can provide temporary relief and help maintain a balance between different aspects of their lives.

7 Platforms that Offer Paid Homework Opportunities

With the rise of the gig economy and online platforms, students now have access to various websites and platforms that connect them with individuals or organizations seeking assistance with academic tasks.

These platforms facilitate transactions between students and clients, providing opportunities to earn money by completing assignments, essays, or tutoring sessions.

  • WriterAccess ( www.writeraccess.com )
  • Textbroker ( www.textbroker.com )
  • Constant Content ( www.constant-content.com )
  • iWriter ( www.iwriter.com )
  • Guru ( www.guru.com )
  • Contently ( www.contently.com )
  • Scripted ( www.scripted.com )

The Legal and Ethical Considerations of this Approach

Engaging in paid homework raises important legal and ethical considerations that students should carefully evaluate. It is crucial to understand the policies and guidelines of educational institutions regarding paid assistance and whether it violates academic integrity codes.

Additionally, students must consider the potential consequences of outsourcing their work, including the risk of plagiarism or compromising their own learning and academic growth. It is essential to prioritize ethical conduct and make informed decisions that align with institutional guidelines and personal values.

Alternatives to Getting Paid for Doing Homework

While the option of getting paid for homework may seem appealing, there are alternatives that students can explore. Seeking part-time employment or internships related to their field of study can provide valuable experience and financial support.

Additionally, students can explore scholarship opportunities, financial aid programs, or work-study options that align with their academic pursuits. Emphasizing time management skills, seeking academic support services, and developing effective study strategies can also help students balance their workload and achieve academic success without relying on paid homework opportunities.

In conclusion, getting paid for doing homework is an option that may be tempting for students who need extra cash. However, it is important to carefully consider the potential benefits and drawbacks of this approach before pursuing it.

Moreover, students must be aware of the legal and ethical implications of getting paid for doing homework and the potential risks involved.

Listen: we know homework isn’t fun, but it is a good way to reinforce the ideas and concepts you’ve learned in class. But what if you’re really struggling with your homework assignments?

If you’ve looked online for a little extra help with your take-home assignments, you’ve probably stumbled across websites claiming to provide the homework help and answers students need to succeed . But can homework help sites really make a difference? And if so, which are the best homework help websites you can use?

Below, we answer these questions and more about homework help websites–free and paid. We’ll go over:

  • The basics of homework help websites
  • The cost of homework help websites
  • The five best homework websites out there
  • The pros and cons of using these websites for homework help
  • The line between “learning” and “cheating” when using online homework help
  • Tips for getting the most out of a homework help website

So let’s get started!

The Basics About Homework Help Websites–Free and Paid

Homework help websites are designed to help you complete your homework assignments, plain and simple.

What Makes a Homework Help Site Worth Using

Most of the best sites allow users to ask questions and then provide an answer (or multiple possible answers) and explanation in seconds. In some instances, you can even send a photo of a particular assignment or problem instead of typing the whole thing out!

Homework help sites also offer more than just help answering homework questions. Common services provided are Q&A with experts, educational videos, lectures, practice tests and quizzes, learning modules, math solving tools, and proofreading help. Homework help sites can also provide textbook solutions (i.e. answers to problems in tons of different textbooks your school might be using), one-on-one tutoring, and peer-to-peer platforms that allow you to discuss subjects you’re learning about with your fellow students.

And best of all, nearly all of them offer their services 24/7, including tutoring!

What You Should Should Look Out For

When it comes to homework help, there are lots–and we mean lots –of scam sites out there willing to prey on desperate students. Before you sign up for any service, make sure you read reviews to ensure you’re working with a legitimate company.

A word to the wise: the more a company advertises help that veers into the territory of cheating, the more likely it is to be a scam. The best homework help websites are going to help you learn the concepts you’ll need to successfully complete your homework on your own. (We’ll go over the difference between “homework help” and “cheating” a little later!)

body-gold-piggy-bank-money

You don't need a golden piggy bank to use homework help websites. Some provide low or no cost help for students like you!

How Expensive Are the Best Homework Help Websites?

First of all, just because a homework help site costs money doesn’t mean it’s a good service. Likewise, just because a homework help website is free doesn’t mean the help isn’t high quality. To find the best websites, you have to take a close look at the quality and types of information they provide!

When it comes to paid homework help services, the prices vary pretty widely depending on the amount of services you want to subscribe to. Subscriptions can cost anywhere from $2 to $150 dollars per month, with the most expensive services offering several hours of one-on-one tutoring with a subject expert per month.

The 5 Best Homework Help Websites

So, what is the best homework help website you can use? The answer is that it depends on what you need help with.

The best homework help websites are the ones that are reliable and help you learn the material. They don’t just provide answers to homework questions–they actually help you learn the material.

That’s why we’ve broken down our favorite websites into categories based on who they’re best for . For instance, the best website for people struggling with math might not work for someone who needs a little extra help with science, and vice versa.

Keep reading to find the best homework help website for you!

Best Free Homework Help Site: Khan Academy

  • Price: Free!
  • Best for: Practicing tough material

Not only is Khan Academy free, but it’s full of information and can be personalized to suit your needs. When you set up your account , you choose which courses you need to study, and Khan Academy sets up a personal dashboard of instructional videos, practice exercises, and quizzes –with both correct and incorrect answer explanations–so you can learn at your own pace.

As an added bonus, it covers more course topics than many other homework help sites, including several AP classes.

Runner Up: Brainly.com offers a free service that allows you to type in questions and get answers and explanations from experts. The downside is that you’re limited to two answers per question and have to watch ads.

Best Paid Homework Help Site: Chegg

  • Price: $14.95 to $19.95 per month
  • Best for: 24/7 homework assistance

This service has three main parts . The first is Chegg Study, which includes textbook solutions, Q&A with subject experts, flashcards, video explanations, a math solver, and writing help. The resources are thorough, and reviewers state that Chegg answers homework questions quickly and accurately no matter when you submit them.

Chegg also offers textbook rentals for students who need access to textbooks outside of their classroom. Finally, Chegg offers Internship and Career Advice for students who are preparing to graduate and may need a little extra help with the transition out of high school.

Another great feature Chegg provides is a selection of free articles geared towards helping with general life skills, like coping with stress and saving money. Chegg’s learning modules are comprehensive, and they feature solutions to the problems in tons of different textbooks in a wide variety of subjects.

Runner Up: Bartleby offers basically the same services as Chegg for $14.99 per month. The reason it didn’t rank as the best is based on customer reviews that say user questions aren’t answered quite as quickly on this site as on Chegg. Otherwise, this is also a solid choice!

body-photomath-logo-2

Best Site for Math Homework Help: Photomath

  • Price: Free (or $59.99 per year for premium services)
  • Best for: Explaining solutions to math problems

This site allows you to t ake a picture of a math problem, and instantly pulls up a step-by-step solution, as well as a detailed explanation of the concept. Photomath also includes animated videos that break down mathematical concepts to help you better understand and remember them.

The basic service is free, but for an additional fee you can get extra study tools and learn additional strategies for solving common math problems.

Runner Up: KhanAcademy offers in-depth tutorials that cover complex math topics for free, but you won’t get the same tailored help (and answers!) that Photomath offers.

Best Site for English Homework Help: Princeton Review Academic Tutoring

  • Price: $40 to $153 per month, depending on how many hours of tutoring you want
  • Best for: Comprehensive and personalized reading and writing help

While sites like Grammarly and Sparknotes help you by either proofreading what you write via an algorithm or providing book summaries, Princeton Review’s tutors provide in-depth help with vocabulary, literature, essay writing and development, proofreading, and reading comprehension. And unlike other services, you’ll have the chance to work with a real person to get help.

The best part is that you can get on-demand English (and ESL) tutoring from experts 24/7. That means you can get help whenever you need it, even if you’re pulling an all-nighter!

This is by far the most expensive homework site on this list, so you’ll need to really think about what you need out of a homework help website before you commit. One added benefit is that the subscription covers over 80 other subjects, including AP classes, which can make it a good value if you need lots of help!

body-studtypool-logo

Best Site for STEM Homework Help: Studypool

  • Best for: Science homework help
  • Price: Varies; you’ll pay for each question you submit

When it comes to science homework help, there aren’t a ton of great resources out there. The best of the bunch is Studypool, and while it has great reviews, there are some downsides as well.

Let’s start with the good stuff. Studypool offers an interesting twist on the homework help formula. After you create a free account, you can submit your homework help questions, and tutors will submit bids to answer your questions. You’ll be able to select the tutor–and price point–that works for you, then you’ll pay to have your homework question answered. You can also pay a small fee to access notes, lectures, and other documents that top tutors have uploaded.

The downside to Studypool is that the pricing is not transparent . There’s no way to plan for how much your homework help will cost, especially if you have lots of questions! Additionally, it’s not clear how tutors are selected, so you’ll need to be cautious when you choose who you’d like to answer your homework questions.

What Are the Pros and Cons of Using Homework Help Sites?

Homework help websites can be a great resource if you’re struggling in a subject, or even if you just want to make sure that you’re really learning and understanding topics and ideas that you’re interested in. But, there are some possible drawbacks if you don’t use these sites responsibly.

We’ll go over the good–and the not-so-good–aspects of getting online homework help below.

3 Pros of Using Homework Help Websites

First, let’s take a look at the benefits.

#1: Better Grades Beyond Homework

This is a big one! Getting outside help with your studies can improve your understanding of concepts that you’re learning, which translates into better grades when you take tests or write essays.

Remember: homework is designed to help reinforce the concepts you learned in class. If you just get easy answers without learning the material behind the problems, you may not have the tools you need to be successful on your class exams…or even standardized tests you’ll need to take for college.

#2: Convenience

One of the main reasons that online homework help is appealing is because it’s flexible and convenient. You don’t have to go to a specific tutoring center while they’re open or stay after school to speak with your teacher. Instead, you can access helpful resources wherever you can access the internet, whenever you need them.

This is especially true if you tend to study at off hours because of your extracurriculars, work schedule, or family obligations. Sites that offer 24/7 tutoring can give you the extra help you need if you can’t access the free resources that are available at your school.

#3: Variety

Not everyone learns the same way. Maybe you’re more of a visual learner, but your teacher mostly does lectures. Or maybe you learn best by listening and taking notes, but you’re expected to learn something just from reading the textbook .

One of the best things about online homework help is that it comes in a variety of forms. The best homework help sites offer resources for all types of learners, including videos, practice activities, and even one-on-one discussions with real-life experts.

This variety can also be a good thing if you just don’t really resonate with the way a concept is being explained (looking at you, math textbooks!).

Not so fast. There are cons to homework help websites, too. Get to know them below!

3 Cons of Using Homework Help Websites

Now, let’s take a look at the drawbacks of online homework help.

#1: Unreliable Info

This can be a real problem. In addition to all the really good homework help sites, there are a whole lot of disreputable or unreliable sites out there. The fact of the matter is that some homework help sites don’t necessarily hire people who are experts in the subjects they’re talking about. In those cases, you may not be getting the accurate, up-to-date, and thorough information you need.

Additionally, even the great sites may not be able to answer all of your homework questions. This is especially true if the site uses an algorithm or chatbot to help students…or if you’re enrolled in an advanced or college-level course. In these cases, working with your teacher or school-provided tutors are probably your best option.

#2: No Clarification

This depends on the service you use, of course. But the majority of them provide free or low-cost help through pre-recorded videos. Watching videos or reading info online can definitely help you with your homework… but you can’t ask questions or get immediate feedback if you need it .

#3: Potential For Scamming

Like we mentioned earlier, there are a lot of homework help websites out there, and lots of them are scams. The review comments we read covered everything from outdated or wrong information, to misleading claims about the help provided, to not allowing people to cancel their service after signing up.

No matter which site you choose to use, make sure you research and read reviews before you sign up–especially if it’s a paid service!

body-cheat-cheating-cc0

When Does “Help” Become “Cheating”?

Admittedly, whether using homework help websites constitutes cheating is a bit of a grey area. For instance, is it “help” when a friend reads your essay for history class and corrects your grammar, or is it “cheating”? The truth is, not everyone agrees on when “help” crosses the line into “cheating .” When in doubt, it can be a good idea to check with your teacher to see what they think about a particular type of help you want to get.

That said, a general rule of thumb to keep in mind is to make sure that the assignment you turn in for credit is authentically yours . It needs to demonstrate your own thoughts and your own current abilities. Remember: the point of every homework assignment is to 1) help you learn something, and 2) show what you’ve learned.

So if a service answers questions or writes essays for you, there’s a good chance using it constitutes cheating.

Here’s an example that might help clarify the difference for you. Brainstorming essay ideas with others or looking online for inspiration is “help” as long as you write the essay yourself. Having someone read it and give you feedback about what you need to change is also help, provided you’re the one that makes the changes later.

But copying all or part of an essay you find online or having someone write (or rewrite) the whole thing for you would be “cheating.” The same is true for other subjects. Ultimately, if you’re not generating your own work or your own answers, it’s probably cheating.

5 Tips for Finding the Best Homework Help Websites for You

Now that you know some of our favorite homework help websites, free and paid, you can start doing some additional research on your own to decide which services might work best for you! Here are some top tips for choosing a homework help website.

Tip 1: Decide How You Learn Best

Before you decide which site or sites you’re going to use for homework help, y ou should figure out what kind of learning style works for you the most. Are you a visual learner? Then choose a site that uses lots of videos to help explain concepts. If you know you learn best by actually doing tasks, choose a site that provides lots of practice exercises.

Tip 2: Determine Which Subjects You Need Help With

Just because a homework help site is good overall doesn’t mean that it’s equally good for every subject. If you only need help in math, choose a site that specializes in that area. But if history is where you’re struggling, a site that specializes in math won’t be much help. So make sure to choose a site that you know provides high-quality help in the areas you need it most.

Tip 3: Decide How Much One-On-One Help You Need

This is really about cost-effectiveness. If you learn well on your own by reading and watching videos, a free site like Khan Academy is a good choice. But if you need actual tutoring, or to be able to ask questions and get personalized answers from experts, a paid site that provides that kind of service may be a better option.

Tip 4: Set a Budget

If you decide you want to go with a paid homework help website, set a budget first . The prices for sites vary wildly, and the cost to use them can add up quick.

Tip 5: Read the Reviews

Finally, it’s always a good idea to read actual reviews written by the people using these homework sites. You’ll learn the good, the bad, and the ugly of what the users’ experiences have been. This is especially true if you intend to subscribe to a paid service. You’ll want to make sure that users think it’s worth the price overall!

How to grab a last-minute Isa before the April 5 deadline

With just days to go it’s best to act now, do your homework and don’t panic

Don’t delay

The end of the tax year on 5 April is rapidly approaching, and, with it, the deadline to use this year’s £20,000 Isa allowance.

An Isa enables you to save, or invest, money without having to pay tax on what you make. You do not pay tax on interest on the cash in an Isa, or on income, or capital gains from investments held in one.

These advantages could be particularly valuable this year for cash and stocks and shares Isas .

Basic-rate taxpayers can earn up to £1,000 interest tax free outside an Isa, while higher-rate taxpayers can earn £500 under the personal savings allowance. With many savings rates now above 5%, the interest on £25,000 will often breach the £1,000 allowance.

Sarah Coles, head of personal finance at investment platform Hargreaves Lansdown, says: “Savers don’t need a huge pile of cash before needing to worry about a tax bill. With interest rate cuts on the horizon, you might think this is a short-term worry. However, even if rates fall in the short term, money in a cash Isa is protected from income tax for ever – regardless of what happens to rates, savings allowances and tax.”

Meanwhile, the cuts to the dividend tax and capital gains tax allowances in the current tax year, and the next one, make stocks and shares Isas even more appealing. “By protecting your money in a stocks and shares Isa, you don’t have to worry about either tax,” says Coles.

Know the rules

First, check if you have already used some of this year’s allowance. If you manage your Isa through an online account, your provider will typically display your remaining allowance when you log in.

Alice Haine, personal finance analyst at investment platform Bestinvest, says: “If you haven’t paid into your Isa in the previous tax year, you may need to reactivate it before you can contribute. This is a relatively straightforward process that can often be done on the phone.”

Some Isas are flexible, so you can take money out, and then put it back in during the same tax year without reducing your current year’s allowance. Your provider can confirm if your Isa is flexible.

The two most popular Isa types are cash, and stocks and shares. However, you can’t pay into more than one of the same type this tax year.

Coles says: “So if, for example, you pay into a stocks and shares Isa at the start of the tax year, you can’t take out another one with a second provider later in the tax year – unless you’ve arranged a transfer.”

From April this year, the rules are changing. You can open and pay into different Isas of the same type in a single tax year, such as two cash Isas.

Cash, or stocks and shares?

Your savings goals should determine which you should choose. If you are saving for a goal at least five years away, ideally longer, investing is likely your best option. But if you are saving for something like a new car in a couple of years or so, stick to cash.

When it comes to returns, stocks and shares win over the long term. According to investment firm AJ Bell, £1,000 invested in a global tracker fund 20 years ago would be worth £7,145 today. The average cash Isa would have returned £1,269 over the same period.

Cash Isa rates are now relatively high. At the time of writing, according to financial data site Moneyfacts.co.uk, there were a number of easy-access cash Isa providers paying more than 5%, including Moneybox (5.16%), Plum (5.15%), Virgin Money (5.06%) and Charter Savings Bank (5.03%).

Meanwhile, Kent Reliance building society was offering 5.07% on its one-year fixed-rate cash Isa.

However, Laura Suter, head of personal finance at AJ Bell, says that while cash is enjoying a heyday at the moment as interest rates have risen, “over the long term, cash rates tend to be low, with cash Isas returning 1.2% a year over the past 13 years, according to the Bank of England”.

For stocks and shares, watch out for fees. Investment company Vanguard offers a cheap option with its ready-made LifeStrategy funds holding global investments. It boasts on its website about its “low fees and clear costs” and is a Which? “recommended provider” for investment platforms.

Last-minute deals

Now may be a good time to move existing cash Isas to higher-paying providers, as well as use this year’s allowance. Providers often launch new deals to attract last-minute Isa contributions, and may offer cashback for transferring to their platform.

For example, Hargreaves Lansdown is offering £25 cashback to new cash Isa clients who pay £10,000 or more into the savings products within its platform.

But with investment Isas, consider ongoing costs over temporary offers.

Suter says: “When you’re picking your investment Isa provider, you want to make sure you’re getting the right one for you. There is a huge range of options, with different levels of support, different investment options and varying charges, so you should do your research to work out which is best for you.”

She adds that some questions to ask yourself include “do you need a full range of investment options, or will a pared-down list work? How much will it cost for your portfolio size compared with rivals, and would you prefer one that’s app-based or website-based (or both)?”

Invest at your own pace

If you are reluctant to dive into the stock market, that’s not a reason to delay. You can hold cash within a stocks and shares Isa until you are ready.

Haine says: “Provided the cash is loaded into the Isa before the tax year end, it is considered part of the current tax year’s allowance. The saver can then make investment decisions on their timeline – even if that happens in the next tax year.”

She adds: “If someone is opening an Isa in the final few minutes of the tax year, the last thing they need is to get into a panic trying to decide on an investment strategy that aligns with their attitude to risk and long-term financial goals.”

Some investment platforms provide interest payments on cash balances, so your money will continue to earn interest. Bestinvest pays 4.45% on cash balances in its stocks and shares Isa.

Beware delays

Most people open, or top up, their Isa online. The process is straightforward, requiring only a debit card or bank details, and your national insurance number.

However, if you leave it until the last minute, and the transaction isn’t completed by midnight on 5 April, you will have missed the deadline for this tax year.

If you fail identity checks, the provider may request documents, such as utility bills, or proof of address by post. Providers have varying deadlines for postal, online and telephone applications.

Typically, providers extend their helpline hours, often remaining open until midnight on 5 April to accommodate last-minute requests.

Thousands of parents of two-year-olds benefit from 15 hours free childcare - here's how

get paid to do homework uk

We’re making the  biggest investment  by a UK government into childcare in history, doubling the amount we expect to spend over the next few years from around £4 billion to around £8 billion each year.

We've already started to rollout the first phase of the expansion. As of April 2024, eligible parents of children who have turned 2-years-old before 1 April are getting help with their childcare costs by accessing 15 hours of government-funded childcare.

The rollout of support is part of our plan to help families – freeing thousands of couples from having to choose between having a family and a career.

This builds on existing government-funded childcare and later in the year the support will be extended to include some children from when they turn 9-months-old.

  • Currently, eligible working parents of 3 and 4-year-olds can access 30 hours of childcare support.
  • Eligible working parents of 2-year-olds are also now able to access 15 hours childcare  support.
  • From  September 2024 , 15 hours childcare support will be extended to eligible working parents with a child from 9-months-old.
  • From  September 2025 , support will reach 30 hours for eligible working parents with a child from 9-months-old up to school age.

When can I apply?

Applications are now open for eligible working parents whose children will be 2 or older by the 31 August to receive 15 hours childcare, starting from September 2024.

And from 12 May, eligible working parents whose children will be aged between 9- and 23-months old on 31st August, can apply to receive 15 hours childcare starting from September 2024.

It’s important to remember that codes need to be renewed every three months, so parents applying close to 12 May will need to renew their code prior to the offer starting in September.

You are able to claim your place the term after your child turns the relevant age. This gives local authorities and childcare providers enough time to prepare.

How do I apply?

You apply online here on   Gov.uk once you have checked our  eligibility criteria .

You’ll need to make sure you have the following information to hand before starting the application:

  • your national insurance number (or unique taxpayer reference if you are self-employed)
  • the date you started or are due to start work
  • details of any government support or benefits you receive
  • the UK birth certificate reference number (if you have one) for your child.

You may find out if you’re eligible straight away, but it can take up to 7 days.

Once your application has been approved, you’ll get a code to give to your childcare provider.

Eligible parents are also able to access Tax-Free Childcare through the same application system. You can apply for Tax-Free Childcare at any time. However, you don't need to apply for Tax-Free Childcare to be eligible to apply for the 15 hours childcare scheme.

What happens once I receive my code?

Once you receive your code, you’ll need to take it to your childcare provider, along with your National Insurance number and your child’s date of birth.

Your childcare provider will process the code to provide your place.

Places will be available for September in every area of the country, but a significant minority of settings hold waiting lists of over six months. If you have a preferred nursery for September, you should reach out now to secure a place for your child ahead of receiving your code.

Your local authority can provide support for finding a government-funded place in your area.

What if I’m already registered for Tax Free Childcare?

Parents must reconfirm that they are still eligible for Tax-Free Childcare every 3 months.

Parents who are already claiming Tax-Free Childcare and need to reconfirm their eligibility between 1 April and 12 May will be automatically issued a code in the post from HMRC soon after the 12 May.

This is to ensure every parent can give their code to their provider in good time. This code will be valid to apply for 15 hours of government-funded childcare from September.

If I receive a code in a letter from HMRC, does this make my code on my Childcare Account invalid?

No. Both codes will be valid.

Do I need to wait for my reconfirmation window to add another child to my account?

A parent who is already using the childcare service for another child can add a new child to their account at any time.

Your reconfirmation cycle for your current Tax-Free Childcare will not affect this.

How are you making sure there will be enough childcare places for eligible parents?

Parents that have a preferred place for September should reach out now to their local provider to secure a physical place for their child ahead of time.

To make sure there are enough places available, we’re investing over £400 million in 2024-25 to increase the hourly rates paid to local authorities.

The Institute for Fiscal Studies has independently reported that the average funding rates for two-year-olds and under 2s paid by government from April 2024 are projected to be substantially higher than the market rate paid by parents last year, and we have committed to further increases to provider rates for the next two years.

We have also committed to increasing hourly funding rates over the next two years by an estimated £500 million, to make sure providers can increase places at each phase of the rollout.

Revolution Bars shares were suspended from the London Stock Exchange yesterday as the bar chain mulled its restructuring plans.

The suspension on the AIM index came after the group said it was unable to publish its interim results for the second half of last year by the end of March.

The news comes after an exclusive report by City editor Mark Kleinman found Revolution was considering a plan to closure around 20 bars out of its 80 venues.

Revolution said it continues to "evaluate all the options available to it", including engaging with key stakeholders and potential investors over a possible fundraise.

Their struggles are part of wider difficulties in the night-time economy, which Money team reporter Emily Mee examined earlier this year...

By Daniel Binns, business reporter

London's FTSE 100 is down around -0.5% this morning after temporarily breaking the 8,000-point barrier yesterday.

There had been expectations that the index could this week break its highest-ever record of 8,012.53 points, which was set in February last year.

However, it looks like the wait will go on - for today at least. It's at around 7,890 points this morning.

The performance echoes a weaker close on Wall Street yesterday, following concerns from some investors that the US Federal Reserve may not cut interest rates by as much as previously expected this year.

Among the firms experiencing a slump on Wednesday is Topps Tiles. Its shares are down almost 3%.

It comes after the company warned of "subdued demand" in a trading update. The firm also said sales had fallen in the second quarter due to lower footfall.

In contrast, Dr Martens opened the day brightly and climbed more than 5% following a report that the footwear brand might explore a possible sale. However, those early gains have since fallen back.

Meanwhile, oil prices have been steadily climbing, with the cost of a barrel of Brent crude hovering around $89 (£71) this morning - a six-month high.

This follows a Ukrainian drone attack on a Russian refinery, coupled with ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

The currency markets are pretty flat - £1 will buy $1.26 and €1.17, similar to yesterday.

Gumtree has revealed the most common items for scam listings.

The online marketplace says smartphones, games consoles, digital cameras, headphones, dogs, collectables and guitars are the most common scam items.

There are also seasonal trends. At the start of the year job posting fraud and gym items for sale are more prevalent, while bikes tend to pop up in spring as people look to get outdoors.

During hot weather, you are likely to see more high-value outdoor items such as non-permanent swimming pools, jacuzzis, trampolines, air conditioning units and campervans.

New vehicle registrations in March and September always see a spike in bad listings, while rental fraud tends to increase when students look for accommodation for the year ahead – normally early summer through to September.

This data comes as Santander saw cases of purchase scams jump by nearly a third (32%) in 2023.

80% of these started on online selling platforms.

Santander has teamed up with Gumtree to warn shoppers about what to look out for:

  • An item priced more cheaply than expected, or using generic images that could have been taken from an online search, could be warning signs of a scam.
  • Items for sale can often be filtered depending on postcode and location. Shop local, and make sure you see the item in person first.
  • Use secure payment methods where you can. PayPal and debit and credit cards may offer more protection than a bank transfer.
  • Attempts to communicate outside an official website should also be treated with suspicion.
  • Check how long the seller has been a member of the selling website for and look at their profile, including reviews from other buyers. If the seller has been posting from multiple locations within a short timeframe, that could be another reason to be cautious.

Gumtree says it removed 1,177,292 listings for failing to meet its standards and policies in 2023.

42,725 of these raised suspicions of fraud, a decrease of 31% annually - credited by Gumtree on an improved safety infrastructure.

Taxpayers could pay millions to dismantle Shell oil rigs in the North Sea.

Marine pollution regulators have said thousands of tonnes of waste from decommissioned oil platforms must be removed.

Shell has lobbied to keep three platforms in its Brent oil and gas field in place, arguing removing waste will hurt the taxpayer on the basis that the Treasury will have to refund the company for the cost, the Telegraph reports .

But Dominic Pattinson, executive secretary of the Ospar Commission, said Shell was obliged to remove the waste.

The commission is part of the Ospar Convention, an international agreement that includes the UK to protect the environment in the northeast Atlantic.

Removing waste from Shell's rigs could cost more than £400m, according to estimates.

Every Wednesday we get Michelin chefs, top bloggers or critics, to pick their favourite cheap eats where they live and at home.

This week we've got the owner of London institution Pied à Terre, the legendary David Moore, whose Fitzrovia restaurant has held at least one Michelin star for pretty much forever.

Hi David, can you tell us your favourite places in London where you can get a meal for two for less than £40?

Fitzrovia, and especially Charlotte Street, are so well known for restaurants, fine dining and Michelin stars. There are no less than five Michelin stars on Charlotte Street alone and a gaggle more on adjoining streets. But, where will you spot the Michelin-starred restaurateur having a cheeky bite on his own turf… man can't live on tasting menus alone. A curry, a soup or a sandwich is much needed. So...

Tongue and Brisket (Goodge Street):  Bring your appetite as portions are generous. I have a large salt beef on rye, pickles and mustard, £10 take away, a bit more to eat in. If dining in, try the Latka, fish balls and an excellent chopped liver, cucumber salad on side. No licence for booze… not a bad thing.

Shoop (Tottenham Street):  This tiny, hole-in-the-wall spot serves up some of the tastiest soups you will find this side of Tel Aviv, but it doesn't stop there. Falafel, £8.20; shakshuka, £8.20; and chicken schnitzel, £9.00, are my firm favourites. Everything is cooked fresh on the premises. I don't know how they make it work, but I'm thrilled that they do. There is very limited seating so I grab and go and sit in Fitzroy Square, Goodge Park, Crabtree Gardens, or the new urban gardens on Alfred Street.

Palms of Goa (Charlotte Street):  If I'm going to blow the whole budget of £40 for two, I would head to see Eugiene at Palms of Goa, 12 Charlotte Street.  They have been on Charlotte Street close to 30 years, you don't do that without solid regulars and good food. My favourite is king prawn masala, £15.95, or lamb biryani, £15.95 - plus a couple of naans at £2.95 each and some tap water just to stay on budget. I have to say I usually need a snooze after an Indian lunch… there are worse problems to have.

What's your go-to cheap eat for a night at home?

My go-to easy, cheap eat at home is the dish everyone knows but no one cooks, an omelette. I do a three-egg omelette and put whatever cheese, herbs, ham is in the fridge. Buy some frozen herbs, parsley and chive would be my preference.

Ingredients:

  • salt/pepper
  • generous knob of cold butter - chopped in several cubes
  • herbs - grated cheese - ham

Crack your eggs into a bowl, season with salt, pepper and herbs - whisk lightly, don't over whisk at this stage as it will get mixed further in the pan when cooking.

Using a non stick pan, heat until smoking hot, move off the heat and add in the cubes of butter, swirl around the pan to coat evenly with the butter.

When fully melted and lightly browning, add in the eggs, with a fork move the eggs around lifting from the bottom of the pan, repeat several times, and then leave to crust, add fillings to the centre or one side, cook for a further minute or to your desired consistency, fold and serve.

Ads for Nationwide featuring actor Dominic West have been banned for misleading consumers into thinking that the bank – unlike its rivals – would not be closing its branches.

After 282 complaints, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) investigated the TV, radio and press ads, in which West plays the boss of a fictional rival of Nationwide.

One of those complaints was from Santander, who said Nationwide had recently closed or reduced opening hours at a number of branches.

A voiceover at the end of the TV advert said: "Unlike the big banks, we're not closing our branches."

The same slogan was used in the press ad, with small print at the bottom saying: "If we have a branch in your town or city, we'll still be there until at least 2026."

The date referred to Nationwide's "Branch Promise" campaign, which last year was strengthened to guarantee it would not close any of its branches until 2026.

The ASA said Nationwide had closed 20% of their estate over 10 years, 152 branches - including two in 2023 - and "we considered that was a significant number".

"Because we considered that consumers would understand from the ads that Nationwide would not be closing branches in the long-term future and that they had not recently closed branches, we concluded that the ads were misleading."

In the 12 months before the ad campaign, Santander had closed fewer branches than Nationwide, the ASA noted.

A Nationwide spokesman said: "We recognise the ASA's decision and are delighted to have the opportunity to make even clearer our now extended branch promise to keep every branch open until the start of 2028."

Separately, an Instagram post by Katie Price promoting a 755-calorie diet has also been banned. Read about that here ...

Google has agreed to delete billions of records containing personal information collected from millions of people using "Incognito" mode.

The action will be taken as part of a settlement agreement in a lawsuit in the US, but applies outside the country too.

The lawsuit accused Google of tracking Chrome users' internet activity even when they had switched the browser to "Incognito".

Google disputed the claims as "meritless" and said the agreement was only required to "delete old personal technical data that was never associated with an individual and was never used for any form of personalisation".

Shares in Donald Trump's Truth Social platform have plunged more than 20% - wiping out gains made following its stock market debut last week.

The tumble came after Trump Media & Technology Group reported losses of more than $58m (£46m) in 2023.

The company also warned it would struggle to meet its financial liabilities going forward.

Royal Mail has appointed a senior Heathrow Airport executive as the group's new boss.

Emma Gilthorpe will join the postal service on 1 May, before succeeding Martin Seidenberg as chief executive in the summer, said owner International Distributions Services.

Her appointment comes at a critical juncture, with Ofcom considering options that could see Royal Mail cut its six-days-a-week service or extend how long it takes to deliver letters.

Annual shop price inflation almost halved in March to its lowest since December 2021, according to industry figures.

Food costs and competition between retailers drove the down rate from 2.5% in February to 1.3% in March, the British Retail Consortium (BRC)-NielsenIQ Shop Price Index found.

Food prices were 3.7% higher than a year ago, down from 5% in February, the slowest rate since April 2022.

Fresh food inflation slowed to 2.6% from 3.4% a month earlier.

Inflation on products other than food fell to 0.2% in March, down from 1.3%.

Promotional offers were to thank in part, with supermarkets trying to draw in customers for Mother's Day and Easter, said Mike Watkins, head of retailer and business insight at NielsenIQ.

Deals were also being offered on electricals, clothing and footwear, said BRC chief executive Helen Dickinson, adding that dairy prices were falling too.

Campaign group Tax Justice UK said those on the super-rich list should be taxed more by world governments to tackle inequality and climate change.

"We're living through incredibly unequal times, lurching from one crisis to the next," said executive director Robert Palmer.

"World leaders need to ensure the super-rich are paying their fair share, for example through introducing wealth taxes."

The government will commission an independent study into the impact of brighter headlights on road users.

Insurance company RAC has said dazzling headlights are causing "significant problems" on the road.

Approximately nine in 10 drivers told an RAC survey that some car headlights were too bright, while 14% of drivers over the age of 65 said they have stopped their vehicles as a result.

"Brighter headlights, while giving drivers a better view of the road ahead, are clearly causing other road users significant problems," said RAC road safety spokesperson Rod Dennis.

"The topic has undoubtedly struck a chord with motorists up and down the country, with many people contacting us directly to call for something to be done."

House of Lords member Baroness Dianne Hayter called the study a "victory for all those drivers affected by glare" and anyone who has "sought help from an optometrist – only to discover the problem was with headlights, and not their eyes".
