Everyone has their aim in their life, I aim to be a doctor in the future. Doctors are essential in our society because they treat the irregularities in human bodies. They are heroes because they do their best and make us fit and fine. I want to become a doctor because I have seen a lot of serious cases which were cured by a doctor and I also want to help and serve the people. In my family, my father is a doctor and helps many people in a day. I also like to help people. In my city, I see a lot of poor people suffering from different types of diseases but they can't afford medical treatment. It's disturbed me and it also encourages me to become a doctor so that I can help and provide services to people.

Being a doctor has always been my dream. I have always been fascinated by the human body and how it works, and the idea of being able to help people overcome their illnesses and lead healthier lives is what drives me to pursue a career in medicine.

Throughout my life, I have been exposed to several instances where I have seen the transformative power of medicine. I have seen people who were once unable to move, walk again thanks to medical interventions, and that has inspired me to become a part of this industry. I have also witnessed the compassion and dedication that many doctors display towards their patients, and I aspire to emulate their qualities in my own career.

My journey towards becoming a doctor requires a strong academic foundation, and I have been working hard to ensure that I am well-prepared for this challenging but rewarding path. I have taken advanced courses in biology, chemistry, and physics, which have given me a solid understanding of the fundamentals of human anatomy and physiology. I have also been actively involved in various volunteering opportunities, such as working in hospitals and nursing homes, where I have been able to observe firsthand the work of healthcare professionals and the impact they have on people's lives.

One of the things that I admire about the medical profession is its constant evolution and advancement. New treatments and technologies are being developed all the time, and as a future doctor, I am excited to be a part of this progress. I am also aware of the challenges that come with this progress, such as ethical dilemmas and the need for healthcare systems to be accessible and affordable for everyone. I believe that it is crucial for doctors to be not just knowledgeable but also compassionate, ethical, and culturally sensitive, and I am committed to developing these qualities in myself.

There are different types of doctors. It is your field of interest and ability that decides in which area of medicine you will be working in. The different types of doctors are—

Allergists/Immunologists - This type of doctor treats immunity system disorders like asthma, food allergies, and some autoimmune diseases.

Anesthesiologists - These types of doctors give you drugs at the time of pain or any type of surgery, they monitor your vital sign when you are under anesthesia.

Cardiologists - They are experts on diseases related to the heart and blood vessels. You might see them at a time of heart attack, high blood pressure, or irregular heartbeat.

One inspiring story of a doctor is that of Dr. Paul Farmer, who is an American physician and anthropologist. He is known for his work in providing healthcare to impoverished communities around the world, and for co-founding the international non-profit organization Partners In Health (PIH).

Dr. Farmer was born in North Carolina and grew up in a working-class family. Despite facing financial difficulties, he was able to attend Duke University, where he studied anthropology and medicine. After completing his medical studies, he traveled to Haiti, where he witnessed the dire lack of access to healthcare faced by the rural poor. This experience inspired him to dedicate his life to serving these marginalized communities.

In 1987, Dr. Farmer co-founded PIH with several colleagues, with the goal of providing quality healthcare to impoverished communities in Haiti and beyond. PIH has since expanded to serve communities in Latin America, Africa, and Russia, and has become a model for health equity and social justice.

One of Dr. Farmer's most notable achievements was his work in the treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) in Haiti and Peru. But due to today’s lifestyle, people are dealing with different health issues.

We need to cure different health problems at an early stage so that we can restore our health. And it is only a doctor, who can help us with our health issues. A doctor is a person who can cure ailing and distress with great devotion, love, and care.

Most importantly, doctors are a savior and gods to millions. There are different health issues when we are in a need to visit a doctor like cold, fever, cough, depression, flu, and many others. There is a long list of health issues we may have to treat with the support of doctors.

This is why doctors are important entities in our society and I am completely passionate about helping and serving people with any kind of disease. I actually want to help others. So, I have made becoming a doctor my aim.

Doctors also give hope to people who are helpless or suffering from any kind of disease. Doctors can give those people a reality check and help them to get rid of their health issues.

My Ultimate Ambition - to be a doctor

My ambition

Ever since I was very young and saw perhaps a child cut and bleeding or an old woman suffering from an incurable disease, I have always hated pain and the human suffering that it causes. It has, therefore, always been my ambition to become a doctor and to be able to cure diseases and to ease pain. Many count riches, power and glory among their ambitions, but for me, to serve humanity through medicine is the highest ambition of all.

The training is long and expensive and I shall need to work very hard. After passing the right examinations in school. I shall then need to take a University examination, which will enable me to enter the medical school, which is part of our University life in Singapore.

At University, there will be many lectures to attend. Physiology and Anatomy are two of the most important subjects during the first year. The different organs of the body such as the heart, the kidneys and the liver, together with their functions and disorders have to be studied. As well as this, there will be lectures on the many different diseases to which man is subject, with the various ways of diagnosing them and dealing with them. Lectures are given by highly qualified specialists.

As well as this theoretical work, there will be a practical course during the five years training. A new medical student has to begin by 'walking the wards' in a hospital. He accompanies doctors in charge of patients and watches what they do. He has to study patients being examined and listen tot he conclusions reached. he has intricate operations being performed by skilled surgeons. He had to make his own reports from his own diagnoses, at the same time, as the qualified doctor. All of these are checked and corrected, so that the student can learn from his mistakes. When he has passed this practical course, which lasts for about four years, he is then called a 'House man'.

Written examinations are taken at different stages. At the end of the first year, there is the first M.B. This is the first part of a Bachelor of Medicine degree and is a very difficult hurdle. Many students fail it. Then, there is the second M.B. and at the end 'finals' which include both a written, and oral and a practical examination. When 'finals' are safely behind me, I will really by a qualified doctor and be able to add this style to my name.

It will then be my ambition to obtain a grant from the authorities to travel abroad for further studies and I would like to go to Australia to do this. At a post-graduate course there, I would be able to study different methods, to see new techniques and to obtain even higher qualifications like a Doctor of Medicine degree.

Finally, I would return to Malaysia where I want to work as an assistant medical officer in one of our busiest cities. There, I would gain more practical experience than I ever could in a small village. All types of illness would, among a large population, most certainly come my way. The ailments of children, of young mothers and of the very old could all be studied. I would learn to recognize an appendicitis of tonsillitis very quickly. In a very large city, it is not always possible to have the services of a gynaecologist and so I would have practice in delivering babies myself.

During this time, I would try to save money. Doctors are rightly well-paid and I would live moderately. After some years, therefore, I hope to be not only experienced as a general practitioner, but also comfortably rich as well.

Finally, then I would realize my ultimate ambition, which is to do the medical practice in my own village and to return here. I have never had any desire to specialize and to become a pathologist, a surgeon, a gynecologist or an ear, nose and throat specialist. To be a good general practitioner here, in my own home is the end of my dream and, although not a specialist in any particular sphere, I shall know enough to deal with the common ailments of life and to call in the right specialists a once if they are needed. I shall then be able to serve the village I love so well.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

That is a question I came to hate as I grew up and started school. All my parent’s friends, any time we would or they would visit, would ask me that question. As a young child, I would make something up and say stupid things like I want to be a professional football player.

Or I would say that I wanted to be a circus performer . I got a kick out of their reactions when they heard those answers. The responses may not have been serious but eventually, it got my parents’ friends to quit asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Then I hit my teen years and I started to see the serious nature behind that question and that realization got me thinking. What was I going to do with my life? I do not care for sports that much so being a professional athlete was out and I hate the circus so that career was off my list.

As I thought I explored my strengths and saw that I genuinely cared about people and I could stand the sight of blood. Then it hit me, I could be a doctor. My grades have always been good and people told me that I was very smart and both qualities were needed to become a doctor.

So I set my sights on being a doctor for the rest of my life. As I study I keep that one goal in mind. It is hard work but one day I will be able to enter medical school and learn how to be a doctor.

What I like about being a medical professional is not the money that is involved. The big money does not come to many doctors until they have become quite specialized and famous. There are lots of doctors that make very little money and seem quite content.

What really appeals to me is the positive contribution doctors make in society. They have the knowledge and talent to make a real difference in someone’s life. Plus, they can go to just about any country and practice their craft.

There always seems to be a need for doctors no matter where you go. That is a very attractive feeling to have. Being needed makes a person feel really good about themselves. Especially since there are so many specialties one can choose to work in.

Don’t get me wrong, I have not looked at this profession with rose-colored glasses on. I know that there is a negative side that takes its toll on doctors. Patients do not always get well, their family members get angry and treatments do not always go as planned and doctors get sued.

Those negatives aspects just motivate me to be the best doctor I can be and learn everything I can so I can avoid such situations if possible. My aim to be a doctor is quite legitimate and strong.

That is because I also see that profession as very rewarding. Not financially, although that does help some, but in the aspect that I can make a difference no matter where I practice medicine. If I focus and concentrate on helping my patients and they get better, then I have done my job.

The look on my patients’ faces when I give them the good news is more than enough inspiration and reward. Words cannot express such a feeling when you have helped someone and they are genuinely grateful.

All of these elements make my aim to be a doctor a legitimate goal and helps keep me honest. An honest doctor is the best one to have to look after you as you never get lied to and people can have confidence in him.

That is another reason for my aim to be a doctor. I like the idea that people can have confidence in me.

My Ambition to Become a Doctor

I was one of the lucky few who were born into rich families. My family mostly consists of doctors. Growing up I have always seen my parents busy as my father was a neurosurgeon, and my mother was a dentist. So it is quite natural that the first thing I thought, and was told to become a doctor. My friends used to joke about it saying that it was so obvious that I will be a doctor at first I sort of enjoyed that maybe take a little pride in it too but then it just got annoying, and I thought maybe I do not want to become a doctor so from astronaut to teacher I thought about everything else.

In the meantime my grandfather got sick to whom, I was very close. For a little while I stopped thinking about what I wanted to become he was diagnosed with blood cancer. As my father was a doctor at the top hospital he was colleague, and good friends with best oncologists that treated my grandfather. Even after a month of treatment doctors were not so hopeful, and they suggested my father should take him abroad. But fate has stored something else for us soon after they landed at the Heathrow airport my grandfather complained about irregular breathing following by falling unconscious, and he passed away on his way to the hospital from the airport.

That incident was a real eye opener for me not that how important of a job is to be a doctor but we were able to take my grandfather out of the country not bearing any expense at all but there are people in this country who cannot even afford to go to a private hospital. There are so many people in the rural areas of Pakistan who are in immediate need of medical help but no doctors want to work there, and government do not even give much attention to these areas unless it’s the time of election.

That day I swore to become an oncologist, and spend at least half of the year in the rural areas where I can take a few volunteers with me to set up a camp, and provide free checkup to those in need.  May be seeing me doing some good in those small areas can make one of the children living there as passionate to be a doctor as I feel right now.
