This should have been a civil ceremony, but not an occasion to show off our non existent armed forces and top brass in fancy dresses. They appear to be so unfit, and would not have been able to run a few yards, if there happened to have been a stampede for any unknown reason................ Independence was a result of a non violent civil society effort at the time, but certainly not by any armed forces.

Another interesting feature of the celebration is the kite flying event that is held all over the country with great zeal. Even the television channels and radio programmes are charged up with patriotism.
