The advent of diverse information technology systems has revolutionized the way of doing things. A majority of business solutions are automated to meet the changing needs of the end users. Information systems have proved to be effective in implementing the business processes of most organizations and institutions across the globe. Library Book Management System is an online application that was developed and designed with the sole objective of automating library services. The system was intended to address the current problems experienced in Narok county libraries, with an emphasis on Maasai Mara University library which has not fully automated its services. This system aimed at automating the processes of cataloging, book circulation, fine calculation, card processing, member details maintenance, and reports generation. A number of tools were used to implement this system. They include: PHP scripting language, HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery library, Cascading Style Sheets, MySQL 5.3 database running on Wamp Server, Bootstrap, Microsoft Visio 2010, Microsoft Project 2007, Microsoft Office 2010, Adobe Dreamweaver CS6, and Adobe Photoshop CS4. In reference to this system’s objectives, a fully automated library book management system was developed using the aforementioned tools. The system’s performance meets user’s requirements, hence providing the main benefit of concentrating all the library services and functions within the power of a mouse click and feeding of data into the system.

Explain the quality factors of a generic library system of any university. The whole assignment is divided into three phases. First phase describe the introductive scope of the system and it also describes the quality factors essential for the successful of this system. In second phase describe how and when this factor gets measured. The third phase elaborates the cost of measurement of such factors. The library system of computer science department of the LCWU (Lahore Collage for Women University) has been using the manual system for handling different activities of library. Due to many problems facing with this existing library system, we will make a library management system that can produce automated online system for managing the activities of library system. It is totally secured system that can be accessed only by the verified user putting user name and password procedure. To mitigate the issues of conventional and manual method of reservation and distribution of books to readers from library, the online Library Management System will be created. The Library Management System is a web-based online system for assisting both the students/teachers and library/staff in borrowing and supervising books. The system will provide fundamental set of features for adding and updating members, adding and updating books, getting list of books, finding out list of books currently checked out, reserving and borrowing books. Its development will include formation and maintenance of back end database with MySQL and Front-end application development aspects with PHP. After this systematically analyze, we have concluded that new proposed system will provide efficient opportunities to the students and the librarian.

A Library Management System is a system that is used to maintain the records of the library. It contains work like the number of the available books, the number of books issued, the number of books to return or renew. It helps to maintain a database that is useful to enter new books and records of books borrowed by the members with the respective submission dates. It will reduce the manual work done by the librarian to maintain the record of the library. It allows maintaining the resources in a more operative manner that will help to save the time. It is also convenient for the librarian to manage the process of books allocation. It is useful for students as well as a librarian to keep the constant track of the availability of all books in a library.

Library management system is an aspect or branch of information management system that keeps the records of both the library users, books in the library and the activities that is going on in the library, activities like borrowing books and returning books. Information management in general is the collection and management of information from one or more source and distribution of the information to one or more audience. This sometimes involves those who a stake in or right to that information. Management means the organization of and control over the structure, processing, and delivery of information. In short information management entails organizing retrieving acquiring and maintaining information. It is closely related to and overlapping with the practice of data management.

ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The Library Management System (LMS) is a computerized platform that aims to streamline and automate the daily operations of a library. This case study examines the implementation and utilization of an LMS at the NOWA Educational Centre, a private educational institution in Nigeria. The study analyzes the benefits, challenges, and outcomes of the LMS implementation in enhancing the library services and student experience. The study adopts a mixed-methods approach, comprising both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Data was collected through surveys, interviews, and document analysis. The survey questionnaire was administered to students, teachers, and librarians to assess their satisfaction with the LMS and its impact on library operations. The interview questions were structured to elicit information from key stakeholders, including the school management, librarians, and IT personnel, on the challenges and benefits of the LMS implementation. The document analysis was conducted to examine the records of library transactions before and after the LMS implementation. The findings of the study indicate that the LMS has significantly improved the efficiency and effectiveness of library operations at the NOWA Educational Centre. The LMS has automated several manual processes, such as book borrowing, return, and inventory management, thereby reducing the workload of librarians and enhancing the accuracy of records. The LMS has also facilitated access to library resources and services for students and teachers, thereby improving the overall student experience. The study also reveals that the LMS implementation was not without challenges. The major challenges identified include inadequate training of librarians and students on the use of the LMS, inadequate IT infrastructure, and resistance to change by some stakeholders. The study recommends that adequate training and support be provided to librarians and students on the use of the LMS, and that the IT infrastructure be upgraded to enhance the performance and reliability of the system. The study concludes that the LMS has significantly enhanced the efficiency and effectiveness of library operations at the NOWA Educational Centre, and has improved access to library resources and services for students and teachers. The study recommends that other educational institutions in Nigeria and other developing countries should adopt and implement LMS to improve their library services and enhance the learning experience of their students.

The focus of any educational institution is the content and services of the university library. The mission of the library is to obtain, organize, preserve and update the information with the greatest possible accuracy, minimum effort and time. This requires automation of the library's operations. This paper presents a software application for managing the activity of the territorial "Vasile Goldiş" West University library. The application is developed using Visual Basic for Application programming language and using the database management system Microsoft Access 2010. The goal of this application is to optimize the inner workings of local library and to meet the requests of the institution and of the readers.

As the number is rising there is a need of effective management of library, one such effective system is our Library Management System its designed using PHP as front end and MYSQL as backend. The transactions like login, register, add , search, delete, issue are provided. The Library Management System stores the details like name, address, ID number , Date Of Birth of members working in the library and users who come to library. We are also having the barcode scanner through which particular student can be identified.The details of books like book name, book number, subject to which it belongs , author, edition, year of publication , the total number of books that are present in the library etc are also stored. We are having an advance feature like we are providing a notification facility to students.

• The proposed system that we are going to develop will be used as the Chief performance system within the library of the institute which interact with the institutes staff and students. Therefore, it is expected that the database would perform functionally all the requirements that are specified by the institute. The system shall accommodate high number of books and users without any fault.
• The database may get crashed at any certain time due to virus or operating system failure. Therefore, it is required to take the database backup.
• We are going to develop a secured database for the university. There are different categories of users namely teaching staff, administrator, students etc. Depending upon the category of user the access rights are decided. It means if the user is an administrator then he can be able to modify the data, delete, append etc. All the other users other than administrator only have the rights to retrieve the information about database.

Introduction • Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements • Project management is accomplished through processes, using project management knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques that receive inputs and generate outputs • In order for a project to be successful, the project team must: • Select appropriate processes within the Project Management Process Groups (also known as Process Groups) that are required to meet the project objectives • Use a defined approach to adapt the product specifications and plans to meet project and product requirements

Introduction (cont…) • Comply with requirements to meet stakeholder needs, wants and expectations • Balance the competing demands of scope, time, cost, quality, resources, and risk to produce a quality product.

PM Processes

Project Management Process Groups • Five PM Process Groups • Initiating Process Group. Defines and authorizes the project or a project phase. • Planning Process Group. Defines and refines objectives, and plans the course of action required to attain the objectives and scope that the project was undertaken to address. • Executing Process Group. Integrates people and other resources to carry out the project management plan for the project. • Monitoring and Controlling Process Group. Regularly measures and monitors progress to identify variances from the project management plan so that corrective action can be taken when necessary to meet project objectives. • Closing Process Group. Formalizes acceptance of the product, service or result and brings the project or a project phase to an orderly end.

Project Boundaries

Initiating Process Group • Develop Project Charter • This process is primarily concerned with authorizing the project or, in a multiphase project, a project phase. • It is the process necessary for documenting the business needs and the new product, service, or other result that is intended to satisfy those requirements

Initiating Process Group (cont…) • Develop Preliminary Project Scope Statement • This is the process necessary for producing a preliminary high-level definition of the project using the Project Charter with other inputs to the initiating processes.

Planning Process Group • The planning processes develop the project management plan. • These processes also identify, define, and mature the project scope, project cost, and schedule the project activities that occur within the project. • While planning the project, the project team should involve all appropriate stakeholders, depending upon their influence on the project and its outcomes. • Major processes involved in this group are as under: • Develop Project Management Plan • Scope Planning • Scope Definition • Create WBS (Work Breakdown Structure)
