Does True Love Wait?

Don’t Ever Forget That True Love Is Worth The Wait

Lauren Jarvis-Gibson

Please don’t ever forget that true love is worth the wait. True love is nothing you need to rush. It’s not something you’re supposed to force. Because you see, true love is precious. It’s sacred. It’s not something to toss away.

True love is rare. It is a shiny diamond in a world full of pebbles. True love is meant to be cherished. It’s meant to be savored and to be devoured. It’s not something to look away from. It’s not something to be afraid of or scared of. It’s not something to run away from.

Because true love doesn’t leave.

Maybe you miss the ex who broke your heart. Maybe you miss the guy you met in the bar a few months ago. Maybe you miss someone who never looked your way. Maybe you miss just feeling needed and feeling wanted.

But don’t let that run towards the finish line.

True love will come to you when it is meant to. It’s going to come to you and knock on your door when you least expect it to. Maybe it’ll happen from a Tinder date. Maybe you’ll find it from the guy who used to go to school with. Maybe you’ll find it with your high school sweetheart. Or maybe you’ll find it in a few years, where you can stand on your own two feet.

True love will show up at the moment when you are ready. It will happen when you have confidence in yourself. It will happen when you can love yourself without someone by you. It will happen when you don’t see it coming.

And you’ll never be the same.

Because true love stays. It does not flicker. It isn’t fragile. It’s an armor. A bullet proof shield. True love will lift you up when you don’t even know you need to be lifted. True love will hold you when you need it most. True love will enter your life as long as you have patience. True love will enter your life as long as you know that it will come to you. Because you know that you deserve it.

Please understand, that true love is worth the wait. Don’t dive into something that will be temporary. Don’t get a boyfriend or a girlfriend just for the heck of it. Don’t settle for anything that isn’t whole hearted. Don’t settle for the liars. Don’t settle for the players and the people who promise you nothing.

You deserve more than that.

You of all people, deserve real love. Big love. True love. Nothing less.

Maybe you’ve been hurt in the past. Maybe you’ve been broken by people who you thought were your true friends. And by people who you thought were your lovers that would last forever.

But don’t be scared of finding something real. Don’t be scared of having feelings. Don’t be scared of true love. It’s real. And it’s going to happen. You just have to hold out. To wait. To hope. And to believe. To believe in it. And to believe that you, deserve it.

True Love Waits: The How To Wait

by Vince Olaer | Featured , Free SS Materials , Pastoral , Primary | 0 comments

The issue of true love waits is a valid issue concerning of love. The big question however is, “How to wait?”

With the current shift of culture and moral standards of the world, I believe true love waits is an “on-time” seminar for our younger generation.

I do not believe to what the government is doing as their solution for the rising cases of HIV. I believe that it is still the revival of moral values is still the best solution for this, hence, religious groups can do indeed play a great role in this issue.

The article below was taken from the True Love Waits Manual published by Church Strengthening Ministry years ago. Thus, I find this article direct to the point and helpful to our younger generation.

How To Wait?

1. Seek God – The more we get to know God, the more we realize what He wants us to do and the more we discover His plans for us. He is the best example of love because He is love (1 John 4:7-21). 2. Guard your heart –   Our hearts lead us into our actions. We must try keeping it pure for those who need true love from us. We must always check to see if what we do is good and will build us up an make us stronger. The Bible also tells us that God will help us guard aour hearts; we have to learn to listen to Him (Philippians 4:7).

True Love Waits

3. Guard your thoughts – While we might say, “I can handle it, it does not affect me,” our thoughts can put our defenses at risk. Temptation in itself is not sin, but it may lead us to sin. While waiting, it pays to keep a clean mind. (Read Philippians 4:8 and 2 Corinthians 10:5). 4. Look at others in a different light –   In the book, “I Kissed Dating Goodbye,” the author suggests that rather than looking at others as potential boyfriends and girlfriends, we should treat eac other with absolute purity and show brotherly love. When we do, we can see why each one is special in God’s sight.

  5. Strive for purity even in what you do – a) Dress to advertise yourself not your sexuality. Wear clothes that call attention to your face, your eyes, your smile, things that communicate who you are. B) Watch your conversation. There is one important principle in communication: it is irreversible. So say only what will build up, not tear down; what will guide, not mislead. Even when you are considering an intimate relationship with someone or are already in this kind of relationship, we should still strive for purity. One way to do this is to set our “rules” so to speak even before the situation arises.

  6. Make friends – Waiting does not mean you have to cut yourself off from the people around you. These friends can actually be your “support group” people who will help you with your convictions. Ecclesiastes 4:10-12 gives us the importance of friendship. 7. Prepare your answers to pressure lines such as “If you really loved me, you would,” Everyone is doing it,” “Marriage is a long way off. Why deny yourself this pleasure now?” – At one time, we all will have to make a stand. When this time comes, we should have a prepared answer. While this kit may give you some “ammunition” to answer the question, the best and the most effective answer is one that points to Jesus and does not sound prideful: “I have given my life to Jesus. I cannot do that.”

  8. Get involved in something much larger than yourself – A charitable cause, a community project, an others-oriented campaign will always need volunteers instead of spending time wondering when the right person will come along, immerse yourself in helping other. 9. Think of your singleness as a blessing – Enjoy your singleness! There are many things you can do as an individual and not do if you have a commitment to someone. These are the times when you can mature more, grow more, in the different aspects of life. It is a time to meet people and get to know God more.  As we wait, we should make the best of our time by responding to the call of purity. Someone may also be waiting for us. Until we meet that person, we will be able to say, “I’m worth waiting for.”

Remember, it’s not just your future mate who needs true love from you. The other four also do.

1. The Evolution of Love: A Study of the Changing Nature of Romance throughout History

Introduction.

Love is one of humanity's most complicated and mysterious emotions. People have strived to comprehend and define Love throughout history, resulting in many works of literature, art, and music dedicated to the subject. Despite its universal appeal, the nature of Love has evolved significantly throughout time, reflecting evolving cultural, social, and economic situations. In this essay, we will look at the evolution of Love, from ancient times to the present.

Ancient Love

A. Greek and Roman Love

Love was viewed as a complex and varied feeling in ancient Greece and Rome, comprising characteristics of desire, friendship, and awe. Love was frequently represented as a tremendous force in ancient civilizations, capable of both propelling individuals to high heights of success and bringing them down into the depths of sorrow. This was especially true of romantic Love, which was glorified in epic poems like the Iliad and Odyssey , as well as works of art and literature depicting the hardships and sufferings of star-crossed lovers.

B. Medieval Love

A chivalric code known as courtly Love emerged in medieval Europe. Its core tenants were the importance of Love, honour, and devotion. During this time, romantic Love was typically portrayed as an unrequited emotion, with the lover pining for the affections of a faraway and unreachable beloved. Medieval poets and troubadours mirrored this romanticised picture of Love in their works by singing and writing about the highs and lows of passionate Love.

Modern Love

A. The Renaissance

The idealized picture of Love that had ruled for centuries was called into question by artists and intellectuals during the Renaissance, marking a turning point in the development of romantic relationships. During this time, romantic Love was portrayed as more tactile and visceral. Shakespeare, for instance, reflected the shifting beliefs of his day by exploring the nuanced and often tragic nature of Love in his works.

B. The Enlightenment

The concepts of reason and individuality began to gain root during the Enlightenment, and with that came a shift in how people saw Love. Political marriages and alliances were often formed based on Love, which was now considered a more sensible and practical feeling. Thinkers from the Enlightenment period, including Voltaire and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, shared this perspective on Love as a tool for bettering society and the individual.

C. The Modern Era

Today, the word "love" is most often used to describe a feeling one has when they are in a committed relationship or when one has achieved their own goals. Love has become a consumable good thanks to the spread of consumerism and the worship of the individual. The media and arts reflect this conception of Love by depicting it as a means to one's fulfillment and contentment.

The changing cultural, social, and economic conditions of each historical epoch are reflected in the history of Love. The essence of Love has changed dramatically throughout the years, from its idealised image in ancient Greece and Rome to its depiction as a spiritual tie in mediaeval Europe to its current identification with romantic relationships and personal fulfilment. Despite these changes, Love remains a strong and enduring force in human existence, inspiring numerous works of art, literature, and music and affecting how we live and interact with one another.

Despite its enormous global significance, the science of Love is now being thoroughly investigated. This paper will investigate the biology and psychology of Love and attraction, delving into the different elements that impact these powerful emotions and how they form our relationships.

The Biology of Love

A. Hormone Function

Love is a biological process controlled by chemicals such as dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin. These hormones influence our sensations of attraction, enthusiasm, and enjoyment and boost sentiments of trust and closeness.

B. The Influence of Genetics

Genetics also has an impact on Love and attraction, with some personality qualities and physical characteristics that are considered to be appealing to potential spouses being handed down from generation to generation. This suggests that particular preferences for specific sorts of people are hardwired into our genetics, influencing our romantic and sexual attraction patterns.

The Psychology of Love

A. The Role of Attachment Styles

Our attachment types, which we acquire from our early connections with our caretakers, also affect our Love. These attachment types can significantly influence our later relationships, influencing how we build and keep deep attachments with others.

B. The Impact of Social Norms and Values

Cultural Values

Social conventions and cultural ideas also impact Love and attraction, with societal expectations and values impacting our romantic and sexual impulses. These social conventions and cultural ideas influence everything from who we are attracted to and how we approach and pursue relationships.

The Meeting of Biology and

Love Psychology

The biology and psychology of Love are inextricably linked and interdependent, with one having a complicated and subtle impact on the other. This suggests that, while biology influences our sentiments of attraction and Love, our psychological experiences and beliefs may equally shape these emotions.

Love is a powerful and transformative emotion that can bring immense joy and fulfilment to our lives. But Love can also turn dark and dangerous when it crosses the line into obsession. This essay will examine the fine line between Love and obsession, exploring how Love can become unhealthy and dangerous.

The Characteristics of Obsessive Love

Obsessive Love is characterized by an unhealthy attachment to another person, with the obsessed person becoming overly dependent on their partner for emotional fulfilment. This can lead to feelings of possessiveness and jealousy, as well as a need for constant attention and validation.

B. Control and Manipulation

Obsessive Love can also involve control and manipulation, with the obsessed person trying to control every aspect of their partner's life and behaviour. This can range from minor acts of manipulation, such as trying to dictate what their partner wears or who they spend time with, to more serious forms of control, such as physical abuse or stalking.

The Dark Side of Love

A. Stalking and Harassment

The dark side of Love can take many forms, with stalking and harassment being among the most extreme and dangerous forms of obsessive behaviour. Stalking and harassment can have serious and long-lasting consequences for the victim, causing fear, stress, and trauma that can impact their mental and physical well-being.

B. Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is another form of the dark side of Love, with physical, sexual, and psychological abuse being used as a means of control and domination. Domestic violence can have devastating consequences for the victim, often leading to serious injury or even death.

The Roots of Obsessive Love

A. Psychological Issues

Obsessive Love can have its roots in psychological issues, including depression, anxiety, and borderline personality disorder. These conditions can lead to feelings of insecurity and low self-esteem, making it difficult for individuals to form healthy relationships.

B. Cultural and Social Factors

Cultural and social factors can also play a role in the development of obsessive Love, with certain societal beliefs and norms promoting possessiveness and control in relationships. This can include gender roles, expectations, and cultural beliefs about Love and relationships.

In conclusion, the fine line between Love and obsession is delicate and dangerous, with Love crossing over into unhealthy and dangerous territory when it becomes obsessive. By understanding the characteristics of obsessive Love and how it can take dark and dangerous forms, we can better protect ourselves and our loved ones from the negative consequences of this powerful emotion.

Can True Love Wait? 8 Reasons It Can

Can love wait?

There are many arguments if true love can really wait. Some folks say that waiting is an admirable virtue, and they believe it is worth it. On the flip side, others consider it a waste of time. In other words, you are just investing your all in nothing.

Well, waiting for someone to decide and be ready in a relationship does not always guarantee true love. Without enduring love, it may not turn out to be worth it in the end.

Also, you cannot share genuine love with all the people you meet and encounter. Only a few are those who will be with you in both good and bad times until the end of time.

For some, waiting does not make sense because it can be emotionally draining. They believe that those who wait are making themselves unavailable to others and miss out on some possibilities in life. Besides, waiting for someone may last without any definite period.

However, there is still beauty in waiting for true love. It allows you to build yourself up and do other things that will make you more productive. Here is a list of 8 reasons why true love waits:

1. Because it does not mean that you are doing nothing.

Waiting does not necessarily mean that you will just wait and do nothing about your life. It is not all about daydreaming and wondering about falling in love and being in a relationship. Also, it is not about sitting around while planning for your future with the person you love.

Instead, you can engage yourself with things that yield positive results while waiting. You can learn new skills, study again, or even do volunteer works. There are multiple activities that you can do as a way to give back to the community. It also helps to strengthen your inner self, boost your confidence, and improve your overall well-being.

2. Because it means waiting for someone to be with you in the long term.

You do not wait for a person to be in a relationship and then break up if it does not work out. Be reminded that you are not into it for trial and error.

The reason you wait is that you see your future in that person. In short, you see him/her as your future spouse. You are looking forward to a long-term relationship, not just a short-lived one. Although it would not be perfect, as long as there is true love, that relationship will endure and persevere.

Also read: Is True Love Worth Waiting For? 9 Reasons to Wait or Not to

3. Because it is all about giving yourself to the one you love.

True love is selfless, and it means saving yourself for someone. And if you love that person, you would desire to give yourself fully.

Being patient is an expression of true love. Wait until marriage and up to a time that you have found your other half.

4. Because it does not mean you do not value yourself.

Some people say that if the person loves you enough, then s/he would not keep you waiting. They believe that anyone who keeps someone waiting without assurance is an act of selfishness. Instead of starting a new chapter with another person, you are investing yourself in the situation. They also agree that as you do this, you will be compromising your needs and only settling for less than you deserve.

But you can choose to wait while being reminded that you are valued. Yes, you may have fear and worries, but do not waste your time throughout your single period. Develop yourself to be more faithful, understanding, and responsible. You may as well practice doing house chores and arrange other meaningful activities. These will make you a more accountable partner in the future.

5. Because it feels good to know that your future life partner will thank you one day.

Let’s face it. There are uncertainties in waiting. Are you waiting for that appointed time to finally meet your future spouse? Are you waiting for someone to make up his/her mind? Are you waiting for somebody to notice your feelings? Or are waiting for a person to declare his/her love and affection?

Whatever it is, would it be good if your future life partner will thank you one day for being patient in waiting? Of course, yes! Without a doubt, s/he will appreciate how you patiently waited despite the struggles and challenges.

6. Because it is a form of sacrifice.

Admit it. The word “sacrifice” does not always sound good. This is because it often involves pain, loss, and suffering. And many do not want to offer any sacrificial act in their relationships because it gives them a disadvantage.

But sacrifice is needed in marriage and other types of relationships. Just like compromise, it is crucial in building a firm foundation.

7. Because committing to abstinence is a gift for your future life partner.

Reserving yourself for your future spouse is one way to let him/her know that your love is literal and pure. But of course, committing to abstinence is not the only way to prove it. Do not feel guilty if you have been into several relationships before meeting your true love. Life in this fallen world is not perfect, and so are you.

So, if you have failed many times, it is never too late to start over. Your past experiences do not define you. Learn to enjoy the present and embrace what lies ahead with courage.

8. Because you do not worry about what the future holds.

When waiting for true love to come along, it is normal to question yourself, “How long will I be waiting?” You are hoping for that someone to tie the knot with you, but nothing happened. You are still waiting, and each day becomes uninteresting. Then, you begin to worry if you will forever be single. These thoughts can be discouraging, especially if you have no idea about what the future will bring.

However, be reminded that worrying will not help. Instead, you will get stuck in that situation of despair. It only leads to distress and discontentment. Trust what the future holds. By learning that both you and your future spouse have waited for each other, it is easier to build trust and loyalty.

True love is worth the wait.

Not everyone loves to wait. In fact, it can be tiring and despairing. It may work for some individuals, but others find it to be relatively toxic. For them, why wait if they can be happy with someone else.

But waiting is not only about how long it will take. You need to understand the reasons why you are doing it too. There are several factors to consider before engaging in it. Ask yourself if the person is worth the wait. Think deeply if it is what you want. It is better to give up if the situation is only disheartening on your part.

Indeed, true love is rare, and waiting for it will not always be easy. But in the end, it will be rewarding.

Consequently, when it finally comes your way, it will definitely be worth the wait. You can certainly say, “I’m glad I waited for my true love.”

Love and Relationship Essay

The word ‘love’ is observed to have distinct meanings in various settings and contexts. Different people from various cultural settings would tend to have different perceptions about love. Generally, love refers to some kind of inexplicable feeling which is felt by people towards others, probably those of the opposite sex. Relationship on the other hand would refer to the condition of people being connected or associated with each other.

We have all experienced love at one moment of life, but it is as though there is still much we don’t know about love itself. Humans have always asked inexplicable questions about love such as, “Why do we fall in love?” or “What makes us love others?” We may not necessarily have perfect answers for all the questions regarding love but there is no doubt that we have been closer to the right answers for most of these questions through the perception of psychologists.

For instance, according to love psychologists, the reason as to why we fall in love will depend on our minds. The way our minds perceive love is what comes out to us as love. Sometimes, these perceptions may match with the perceptions of another person and in that case love is certain to be realized.

Different groups of people have different views about love. Some communities would see it as something that would be contained in the eyes while others just associate it with blood thus the observations ‘love is in the eyes of the beholder’ and ‘blood is thicker than water’ respectively.

However, some aspects in life have come up to disqualify these perceptions, making people to search for other alternative explanations. For instance, let us consider the situation of blind people. Does their incapability to see hinder them from loving? More importantly, if love was really contained in the blood, will there be any cases concerning lost identities in life as we can see today?

Having asked ourselves these questions, it would be easy for us to appreciate the psychological view of love that is determined by our minds as the perfect answer to most of the questions we frequently ask ourselves regarding love. The issue of love and what makes people fall in love has been a subject of debate all over the world for a very long time. There may never be false love as some thinkers would observe, but we are all informed of the many uncertainties associated with love nowadays.

Think of someone who is strolling down the street without any specific focus or intention then suddenly, he bumps on a lady and it happens they fall in love at the first sight. How can this situation be explained? There is no other perfect manner we can explain this but through the ‘idea of the mind.’

What had just happened between the two people would depend on their brains. Single people; ones who are not in any relationship will always be in hunt for love and if someone fitting their criteria crosses their path, they will definitely be attracted to them and these feelings would trigger love instantly.

The person in this example fell in love with the lady she met on the street owing to the opportunistic perceptions of his mind that he was single and he needed a lover. This is just what happens to many people in this world as far as love is concerned.

As it would be observed, most people would appear to be crazy in love at the beginning of their relationship. This however is likely to change over the time and that fire would fade away as they continue seeing each other. They can even start having feelings of hate against each other.

This is another stand which can be used to justify the hypothesis in this argument. Most of the times, humans are misguided by their minds to make instant choices about love, instead of taking their time to think of the possible outcomes which are likely to arise later. This way, they end up making the wrong choices in what can be termed as ‘rushed love.’ This is a misunderstood situation that would be characterized by arguments and hate against each other come in the future.

To avoid such situations, psychologists have observed a number of factors for people to consider before thinking of falling in love. First of all, we should try to establish a checklist about the things we expect to see in our future lovers and some of the aspects which can apply in the checklist might include behavior, appearance, and education. A checklist is more likely to guide us to the right people thus sparing us future disappointments in relationships.

Through the observations of this topic, we get to learn the benefits of psychology in helping us come into terms with some behaviors and processes of life. Through psychology, we can gain practical benefits regarding various aspects of life. Psychology is always certain to offer satisfying answers to most of the questions we may frequently ask ourselves about many things facing us in our daily lives.

For instance, in the above case concerning love psychology would provide the right answers and the perfect guideline on how to go about it without regrets. This would help people make the right decisions thus avoiding future disappointments. In this case, we should see the capability of psychology in giving us the perfect guideline about sensitive issues of life.

Essays About Love

Defining love may not be as easy as you think. While it seems simple, love is an abstract concept with multiple potential meanings. Exploring these meanings and then creating your own definition of love can make an engaging essay topic.

To do this, first, consider the various conventional definitions of love. Then, compare and contrast them until you come up with your own definition of love.

One essay about love you could tackle is describing and analyzing a favorite love story. This story could be from a fiction tale or real life. It could even be your love story.

As you analyze and explain the love story, talk about the highs and lows of love. Showcase the hard and great parts of this love story, then end the essay by talking about what real love looks like (outside the flowers and chocolates).

Essays About Love: What true love looks like?

This essay will explore what true love looks like. With this essay idea, you could contrast true love with the romantic love often shown in movies. This contrast would help the reader see how true love looks in real life.

An essay about what true love looks like could allow you to explore this kind of love in many different facets. It would allow you to discuss whether or not someone is, in fact, in true love. You could demonstrate why saying “I love you” is not enough through the essay.

There seems to be something ingrained in human nature to seek love. This fact could make an interesting essay on love and its meaning, allowing you to explore why this might be and how it plays out in human relationships.

Because humans seem to gravitate toward committed relationships, you could argue that we are hard-wired for love. But, again, this is an essay option that has room for growth as you develop your thoughts.

There are many different types of love. For example, while you can have romantic love between a couple, you may also have family love among family members and love between friends. Each of these types of love has a different expression, which could lend itself well to an interesting essay topic.

Writing an essay that compares and contrasts the different types of love would allow you to delve more deeply into the concept of love and what makes up a loving relationship.

What does love mean? This question is not as easy to answer as you might think. However, this essay topic could give you quite a bit of room to develop your ideas about love.

While exploring this essay topic, you may discover that love means different things to different people. For some, love is about how someone makes another person feel. To others, it is about actions performed. By exploring this in an essay, you can attempt to define love for your readers.

What can love make people do? This question could lend itself well to an essay topic. The power of love is quite intense, and it can make people do things they never thought they could or would do.

With this love essay, you could look at historical examples of love, fiction stories about love relationships, or your own life story and what love had the power to do. Then, at the end of your essay, you can determine how powerful love is.

The idea of a soul mate is someone who you are destined to be with and love above all others. This essay topic would allow you to explore whether or not each individual has a soul mate.

If you determine that they do, you could further discuss how you would identify that soul mate. How can you tell when you have found “the one” right for you? Expanding on this idea could create a very interesting and unique essay.

Essays About Love: Determine if all relationships should experience a break-up

Break-ups seem inevitable, and strong relationships often come back together afterward. Yet are break-ups truly inevitable? Or are they necessary to create a strong bond? This idea could turn into a fascinating essay topic if you look at both sides of the argument.

On the one hand, you could argue that the break-up experience shows you whether or not your relationship can weather difficult times. On the other hand, you could argue that breaking up damages the trust you’re working to build. Regardless of your conclusion, you can build a solid essay off of this topic idea.

Love, at first sight is a common theme in romance stories, but is it possible? Explore this idea in your essay. You will likely find that love, at first sight, is nothing more than infatuation, not genuine love.

Yet you may discover that sometimes, love, at first sight, does happen. So, determine in your essay how you can differentiate between love and infatuation if it happens to you. Then, conclude with your take on love at first sight and if you think it is possible.

The love between a parent and child is much different than the love between a pair of lovers. This type of love is one-sided, with care and self-sacrifice on the parent’s side. However, the child’s love is often unconditional.

Exploring this dynamic, especially when contrasting parental love with romantic love, provides a compelling essay topic. You would have the opportunity to define this type of love and explore what it looks like in day-to-day life.

Most people want to fall in love and enjoy a loving relationship, but does love have a downside? In an essay, you can explore the disadvantages of love and show how even one of life’s greatest gifts is not without its challenges.

This essay would require you to dig deep and find the potential downsides of love. However, if you give it a little thought, you should be able to discuss several. Finally, end the essay by telling the reader whether or not love is worth it despite the many challenges.

Love is blind is a popular phrase that indicates love allows someone not to see another person’s faults. But is love blind, or is it simply a metaphor that indicates the ability to overlook issues when love is at the helm.

If you think more deeply about this quote, you will probably determine that love is not blind. Rather, love for someone can overshadow their character flaws and shortcomings. When love is strong, these things fall by the wayside. Discuss this in your essay, and draw your own conclusion to decide if love is blind.

When someone falls in love, their body feels specific hormonal and chemical changes. These changes make it easier to want to spend time with the person. Yet they can be fascinating to study, and you could ask whether or not love is just chemical reactions or something more.

Grab a science book or two and see if you can explore these physiological changes from love. From the additional sweating to the flushing of the face, you will find quite a few chemical changes that happen when someone is in love.

Love feels like a positive emotion that does not have many ethical concerns, but this is not true. Several ethical questions come from the world of love. Exploring these would make for an interesting and thoughtful essay.

For example, you could discuss if it is ethically acceptable to love an object or even oneself or love other people. You could discuss if it is appropriate to enter into a physical relationship if there is no love present or if love needs to come first. There are many questions to explore with this love essay.

If you choose to love someone, is heartbreak inevitable? This question could create a lengthy essay. However, some would argue that it is because either your object of affection will eventually leave you through a break-up or death.

Yet do these actions have to cause heartbreak, or are they simply part of the process? Again, this question lends itself well to an essay because it has many aspects and opinions to explore.

Literature is full of stories of love. You could choose a genre, like mythology or science fiction, and explore the role of love in that particular genre. With this essay topic, you may find many instances where love is a vital central theme of the work.

Keep in mind that in some genres, like myths, love becomes a driving force in the plot, while in others, like historical fiction, it may simply be a background part of the story. Therefore, the type of literature you choose for this essay would significantly impact the way your essay develops.

Most people want to fall in love, but is love freeing or oppressing? The answer may depend on who your loved ones are. Love should free individuals to authentically be who they are, not tie them into something they are not.

Yet there is a side of love that can be viewed as oppressive, deepening on your viewpoint. For example, you should stay committed to just that individual when you are in a committed relationship with someone else. Is this freeing or oppressive? Gather opinions through research and compare the answers for a compelling essay.

You can easily find stories of people that did foolish things for love. These stories could translate into interesting and engaging essays. You could conclude the answer to whether or not love makes people do foolish things.

Your answer will depend on your research, but chances are you will find that, yes, love makes people foolish at times. Then you could use your essay to discuss whether or not it is still reasonable to think that falling in love is a good thing, although it makes people act foolishly at times.

Most fiction works have love in them in some way. This may not be romantic love, but you will likely find characters who love something or someone.

Use that fact to create an essay. Pick your favorite story, either through film or written works, and explore what love looks like in that work. Discuss the character development, storyline, and themes and show how love is used to create compelling storylines.

Love has a variety of feelings, emotions, and attitude. For someone love is more than just being interested physically in another one, rather it is an emotional attachment. Need of Love

We know that the desire to love and care for others is a hard-wired and deep-hearted because the fulfillment of this wish increases the happiness level. Expressing love for others benefits not just the recipient of affection, but also the person who delivers it. The need to be loved can be considered as one of our most basic and fundamental needs.

One of the forms that this need can take is contact comfort. It is the desire to be held and touched. So there are many experiments showing that babies who are not having contact comfort, especially during the first six months, grow up to be psychologically damaged.

Significance of Love

Love is as critical for the mind and body of a human being as oxygen. Therefore, the more connected you are, the healthier you will be physically as well as emotionally. It is also true that the less love you have, the level of depression will be more in your life. So, we can say that love is probably the best antidepressant.

It is also a fact that the most depressed people don’t love themselves and they do not feel loved by others. They also become self-focused and hence making themselves less attractive to others.

Society and Love

It is a scientific fact that society functions better when there is a certain sense of community. Compassion and love are the glue for society. Hence without it, there is no feeling of togetherness for further evolution and progress. Love , compassion, trust and caring we can say that these are the building blocks of relationships and society.

Relationship and Love

A relationship is comprised of many things such as friendship , sexual attraction , intellectual compatibility, and finally love. Love is the binding element that keeps a relationship strong and solid. But how do you know if you are in love in true sense? Here are some symptoms that the emotion you are feeling is healthy, life-enhancing love.

Love is the Greatest Wealth in Life

Love is the greatest wealth in life because we buy things we love for our happiness. For example, we build our dream house and purchase a favorite car to attract love. Being loved in a remote environment is a better experience than been hated even in the most advanced environment.

Love or Money

Love should be given more importance than money as love is always everlasting. Money is important to live, but having a true companion you can always trust should come before that. If you love each other, you will both work hard to help each other live an amazing life together.

Love has been a vital reason we do most things in our life. Before we could know ourselves, we got showered by it from our close relatives like mothers , fathers , siblings, etc. Thus love is a unique gift for shaping us and our life. Therefore, we can say that love is a basic need of life. It plays a vital role in our life, society, and relation. It gives us energy and motivation in a difficult time. Finally, we can say that it is greater than any other thing in life.

However, love is not without its complexities. It can be both euphoric and agonizing, uplifting and devastating. Love requires vulnerability, trust, and the willingness to embrace joy and pain. It is a delicate balance between passion and compassion, independence and interdependence.

Finally, the essence of love may be elusive to define with mere words. It is an experience that surpasses language and logic, encompassing a spectrum of emotions and actions. I love the way you make me feel. When I am with you, I feel a sense of comfort and security that allows me to be my true self. Your presence envelops me in a cocoon of love and acceptance, where I can express my thoughts, fears, and dreams without fear of judgment. Your support and encouragement inspire me to pursue my passions and overcome obstacles. With you by my side, I feel empowered to face the world, knowing I have a partner who believes in me.

I love the memories we have created together. From the laughter-filled moments of shared adventures to the quiet and intimate conversations, every memory is etched in my heart. Whether exploring new places, indulging in our favorite activities, or simply enjoying each other’s company in comfortable silence, each experience reinforces our bond. Our shared memories serve as a foundation for our relationship, a testament to the depth of our connection and the love that binds us.

I love your quirks and imperfections. Your true essence shines through these unique aspects! Your little traits make me smile and remind me of the beautiful individual you are. I love how you wrinkle your nose when you laugh, become lost in thought when reading a book, and even sing off-key in the shower. These imperfections make you human, relatable, and utterly lovable.

I love the future we envision together. We support each other’s goals, cheering one another on as we navigate the path toward our dreams. The thought of building a life together, creating a home filled with love and shared experiences, fills my heart with anticipation and excitement. The future we imagine is one that I am eager to explore with you by my side.

In conclusion, the reasons why I love you are as vast and varied as the universe itself. It is a love that defies logic and surpasses the limitations of language. From the depths of my being, I love you for the person you are, the way you make me feel, the memories we cherish, your quirks and imperfections, and the future we envision together. My love for you is boundless, unconditional, and everlasting.

How We Write About Love

essay about love can wait

By Daniel Jones

  • Feb. 5, 2015

A few months ago, I read several articles touting the health benefits of writing in a deeply personal way. Studies had shown that writing introspectively on a regular basis can lead to lowered blood pressure, improved liver function and even the accelerated healing of postoperative wounds. The study’s subjects had been told to write for short periods each day about turbulent emotional experiences.

I bet a lot of them wrote about love. As the editor of this column, I have spent much of the last decade reading stories of people’s turbulent emotional experiences. They all involved love in one way or another.

Which isn’t so surprising. Who hasn’t been stirred up by love? But these writers had spun their experiences into stories and sent them here, where more than 99 percent must be turned away.

Although the would-be contributors may be happy to learn of the surprising health benefits of their writing, I think they hoped for a more glamorous reward than improved liver function.

Lately I have been thinking about those tens of thousands of passed-over stories and all the questions and lessons about love they represent. When taken together, what does all this writing reveal about us, or about love? Here’s what I have found.

First, and most basic: How we write about love depends on how old we are.

The young overwhelmingly write with a mixture of anxiety and hope. Their stories ask: What is it going to be for me?

Those in midlife are more often driven to their keyboards by feelings of malaise and disillusionment. Their stories ask: Is this really what it is for me?

And older people almost always write from a place of appreciation, regardless of how difficult things may be. Their message: All things considered, I feel pretty lucky.

In writing about love, the story of how we met looms large because a lot of us believe, validly or not, that a good meeting story bodes well for the relationship.

What do we consider to be a good meeting story? When it involves chance more than effort. You get bonus points if the chance encounter suggests compatibility, like mistakenly wheeling off with each other’s shopping carts at Whole Foods because your items had so much overlap, you got the carts mixed up.

“I get those beets all the time!” “You like Erewhon Supergrains, too?”

Pretty soon it’s time to get a room.

It seems the harder we work at finding love, the more prone we are to second-guessing the results. High-volume online daters worry about this, along with those who routinely attend singles events.

The fear is we may force things or compromise after pushing so hard for so long. We may admire hard work in most endeavors, but we admire laziness when it comes to finding love. (If you manage to stay together over the long haul, however, it will be because of effort, not chance.)

When some people write about love, they can’t find the right words to capture the intensity of their feelings, so they rely on stock terms that are best avoided. These include (but are not limited to): amazing, gorgeous, devastating, crushed, smitten, soul mate and electrifying.

Popular phrases include: “meet cute,” “heart pounded,” “heart melted,” “I’ll always remember,” “I’ll never forget” and “Reader, I married him.” Then there is everyone’s favorite stock word regardless of subject: literally. As in, “our date was literally electrifying.”

Women and men may feel love similarly, but they write about it differently.

A lot of men’s stories seem tinged by regret and nostalgia. They wish previous relationships hadn’t ended or romantic opportunities hadn’t slipped away. They lament not having been more emotionally open with lovers, wives, parents and children.

Women are more inclined to write with restlessness. They want to figure love out. Many keep mental lists of their expectations, detailing the characteristics of their hoped-for partner with alarming specificity and then evaluating how a new romantic interest does or doesn’t match that type.

They write something like, “I always pictured myself with someone taller, a guy with cropped brown hair and wire-rim glasses who wears khakis or jeans, the kind of person who would bring me tea in bed and read the Sunday paper with me on the couch.”

Men almost never describe the characteristics of their ideal partner in this way. Even if they have a specific picture in mind, few will put that vision to paper. I wonder if they’re embarrassed to.

Another list women frequently pull together is “The List of Flawed Men,” in which they dismiss each man they have gone out with over the last year with a single phrase. There was the slob with the sideburns, the med student who smoked too much pot, the gentle Texan who made felt hats but couldn’t commit, and the physically affectionate finance guy who always dropped her hand when he saw his friends.

This series of bad encounters has left them exasperated to the point of hopelessness, so they try to see the humor in it.

Men rarely compose that kind of list, either. In this case, I wonder if it’s because they’re afraid to, not wanting to be seen as belittling women. In general, men write more cautiously about women than the other way around.

Love stories are full of romantic delusion, idealizing love to an unhealthy degree. But in the accounts I see, men and women delude themselves in opposite directions.

A woman is more likely to believe her romantic ideal awaits somewhere in the future, where her long-held fantasy becomes a flesh-and-blood reality.

A man’s romantic ideal typically exists somewhere in the past in the form of an actual person he loved but let go of, or who got away. And he keeps going back to her in his mind, and probably also on Facebook and Instagram, thinking, “What if?”

I don’t know if men are worse than women when it comes to romantic rejection; they are clearly worse when it comes to literary rejection. Even though only 20 percent of submissions come from men, they send more than 90 percent of the angry emails I receive in response to being turned down. To these men, no does not mean no. No means the start of an inquiry as to how this possibly could have happened.

One man sneered at me: “You didn’t even read it, dude.”

To which I replied, sincerely: “Dude, I totally did.”

Writing about love can be similar to falling in love in that we must be as vulnerable on the page as we are in person when revealing ourselves to someone we hope will love us back. That means exposing our flaws and weaknesses and trusting we will be seen as more appealing, not less, for having done so.

Good writing about love features the same virtues that define a good relationship: honesty, generosity, open-mindedness, curiosity, humor and self-deprecation. Bad writing about love suffers from the same flaws that define a bad relationship: dishonesty, withholding, defensiveness, blame, pettiness and egotism.

It has been remarkable to watch the evolution in stories I have received from gay and lesbian writers. A decade ago, their stories focused on issues of marginalization, identity, coming out, and of strains with family members. Within a few years, their focus had turned overtly political in the fight for equality and marriage.

Today, gay writers have largely shed that baggage. They write about looking for love, marrying, starting a family, being a parent, even getting divorced. Sexual orientation that had once been central is now incidental. Which seems like a nice change.

With Valentine’s Day near and the right words about love always so hard to find, let me close by simply wishing you an amazing celebration of electrifying romance you never forget and always remember.

‘Heaven Can Wait’ and Lubitsch’s Love of Romance’s Paradoxes

Heaven Can Wait is Lubitsch's most successful film due to his ability to turn a period-piece into an enchanting story about the human condition.

img-9509

Laird Crager as His Excellency ( IMDB )

Ernst Lubitsch’s skill for adding humility to films focused on auto-eroticism and human idiosyncrasies enabled him to earn his place as one of the pioneers of the romantic comedy genre. His film, Heaven Can Wait (1943), conveys the drama and somber moments of love, marriage, and commitment through a series of acidic jokes. Thus, the film constructs a family-friendly view of the expectations held by both heternormative genders in a life-long relationship full of ups and downs. Even though Heaven Can Wait lost both its Best Picture and Best Director nominations to Michael Curtiz’s Casablanca (1942), it still stands as Lubitsch’s most successful film due to his ability to turn a period-piece into an enchanting story about the human condition.

In the first few minutes, starting from his supposed quaint beginnings, Henry Van Cleve (Don Ameche) explains to his Excellency (Laird Cregar) how his “shortcomings” all involved women. Amidst his speech about his misdemeanors and the charmingly romantic palette that hell is pictured as, it’s quickly established that Henry’s life story and experiences with others will be blatant statements of comedic hypocrisy towards normative gender roles and existentialism.

The movie often positions Henry and others in various scenes that show their true naïvety towards normative gender roles. Specifically, Lubitsch uses Heaven Can Wait to humanize and portray the men as melodramatic as they underestimate their female counterparts, who are more logical.

img-9510

Don Ameche as Henry Van Cleve and Gene Tierney as Martha Strabel Van Cleve ( IMDB )

When Henry first meets his wife, Martha (Gene Tierney), he poses as a bookseller for a store that he follows her into. He tries to win her over by explaining how the author of the book she wants would never know how to please her husband with her looks, exemplifying the fact that he’s the epitome of the man that has never been in love with anything other than an attractive face. He even goes so far as to say, “When selling literature, one gets poetic.”

Albert (Allyn Joslyn), Henry’s cousin that was supposed to marry Martha initially, also supports this. Even though she was the one to break off their engagement by running off with Henry, Albert nonetheless tries to remain as a source of stability in her life. He conveys a tinge of a knight in shining armor by reiterating to her that he would be able to provide the normalcy he deems necessary to keep a marriage steady.

The social conventions of romance benefit male dominance in both cases, but Lubitsch uses Martha’s sensibility to counteract expectations of her gender. It should be remembered that Lubitsch would use his films to “explore unconventional relationships between the sexes and other challenges to traditional gender expectations.”

img-9511

Indeed, Martha’s sensibility shines a humorous light on the dramatics of selfish love to show that men think they are entitled to romance without putting in the hard work. Her character also conveys that men have created the illusion that love is simple to attain through a centralized system of courting methods that disregard women’s feelings.

Lubitsch essentially used Martha’s role to explain his idea that relationships are full of insecurity and imbalance because, to him, men’s heavy-handedness overshadows the “timid” rationality of women. The film required that Martha have dignity and a sense of strong self-worth to convey Lubitsch’s belief that mutual respect amongst both genders is needed for the foundation of a good relationship.

The focus of normative gender roles in Heaven Can Wait also extends into the idea of existentialism, or the existence of development through free-willed choices, specifically with love. Love and romantic relationships have obvious connections with terms such as fate, destiny, and soulmates. However, instead of maintaining the common narrative of a cut-and-dry tale, Lubitsch’s film brings a moralistic approach to what commitment means when both parties knowingly make free-willed decisions.

Henry’s sexual passion proves to be a weakness, supporting this existential theory, while also “problematically endorsing the double standard”. His dalliances start young when he learns that he doesn’t need to follow in his parent’s steps with courtship and marriage; he figured out that he could woo women without making the promise of commitment. Learning that this leads to many of his romantic demises, he nevertheless happily continues his many flirtations, even decades deep into his marriage, alluding to the assumption that it would take something drastic happen to men’s wives for them to realize that, just like him, they also have the free will to make better choices. In other words, boys will be boys, and girls could be “boys” too, if they wanted.

Hugo, Henry’s grandfather, stands on the opposite side of Henry’s idea of “love” because he represents those that use their free will to become a pinnacle figure of societal standards. He courted his wife appropriately, chose to stay faithful, and raised his family as happily and healthily as he could. In turn, he realized that he didn’t take advantage of his free will because, by the time he was aged, he was envying Henry’s life that seemed to be full of excitement and vigor from years of promiscuity and misbehaving.

This existentialism in Heavan Can Wait plainly conveys the intelligence and ignorance that accompanies the power of free will. Both Henry and Hugo have the capabilities to make different choices but it’s only Hugo that comes to terms that Henry’s decisions are wrong, especially when Martha leaves him. This deep wedge between good and bad existentialism is concentrated from Lubitsch’s own neatly observed moral code of how free will in love is simpler than people think. To him, people are their own worst enemies by complicating what are decent and indecent choices and, most importantly, in what they are doing to show respect toward their partners.

The key that Lubitsch maintains throughout his sometimes-solemn story is hope that genuine love can be attained no matter how rough the road that leads to it is. Heaven Can Wait validates the director’s beliefs that love itself is simple, but people have created the complexities, especially in the sense of Henry’s and Martha’s messy rollercoaster lives. Ultimately, Lubitsch’s sophisticated understanding of romance serves as an achievement in which Heaven Can Wait will feel eternally modern.

Why True Love Waits Essay Example

Why True Love Waits Essay Example

  • Pages: 2 (430 words)
  • Published: December 7, 2016
  • Type: Essay

True love is nothing that can be found in possessions or anything that can be created through physical relationships. True love is having a respect, and a deep concern and care your mate or for your future mate. True love is selfless. "Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud, it is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perserveres.

Love never fails. This is just one of the many verses in the Bible that emphasizes the power and depth of love. The worlds standard of love is completely different however.

The world believes that love is entirely a feeling, an infatuation, a lust; but what happens when that feeling fades. Is that "love" gone? Where do you go from there? That is why God has created the perfect plan for truelove, finding true love and marriage. It is a mutual trust in God, and a respect for your mate, by preserving yourself and staying faithful and close to God, you will be closer to your mate, or will be blessed with a wonderful godly husband / wife in the future.

You have to trust God's perfect timing and also trust that he will help you through all your hardships. We should also view any season of singleness as a gift from God. After all being single doesn't have to be a bad thing, there is much less responsibility as a

single individual. However, whatever you are, be all there! Live to the hilt because every situation that you're in is the will of God working in your life. God would not put you through anything that you cannot handle with His help. A person trusting in God is content in every circumstance.

This statement is very true but the word content must be understood in the correct way. Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want, but the realization of what you already have. God does not want you to avoid relationships, and He doesn't want to take your fun away, what He does want is for you to follow His will for your life and to trust in His timing. God revealed his plan for sociology when he created Adam and Eve. He is a loving God and He has the perfect plan for our lives all we have to do is trust Him.
