Essay on Life is Precious Gift | Short & Long Essay for Students

Gift is something that one receives without giving anything back in return. The person who gives the gift can be anyone from a fiancée to a friend or even a relative. In the same way life is considered as a gift because it comes for free and nobody has to pay for it. There’s no need to work hard in order to earn life.

Life is a gift because it’s not promised to any of us. We know that we are born with time and the clock is ticking. And it goes by quickly, like sand slips through your fingers. Some of us see life as an arrow; others think life must be a river, a stream that flows and moves without end. Everything is temporary – everything changes. The only thing that’s constant is change itself.

Life is precious because it’s so short. We are born, we live for a while, and then we die. That’s the definition of life in just a few words. The time that passes between birth and death is what makes life precious. Living is fun! It’s amazing to have eyes, ears, hands, legs – everything to be able to see, hear, feel and touch the world. It’s fun! Life is a gift because we may never know when it ends if we don’t cherish every moment of it.

Life is a blessing because we’re alive! We have the ability to feel. To see, hear, taste and smell what’s around us. Life doesn’t offer such opportunities every day of the week. A new day brings with it new experiences that you can share with others or keep locked away inside. Life doesn’t only bring the good stuff – it also brings problems and challenges that need to be dealt with.

Life is a present because you don’t know what’s going to happen next. You start this adventure called life, enter a world filled with strange people, things and experiences – it’s just plain weird. Sometimes you get the feeling that the world is doing its best to trip you up, but life is a present because you can take it or leave it – nobody’s making you stay. Life itself is just an opportunity for us to become better human beings for ourselves and others.   Life isn’t given to you; it’s something you make.

Being thankful for Life

I think that life is a gift because we never know when it ends. It’s not promised to anyone and lost in the blink of an eye. We need to be thankful for every single moment we have, because there are millions of people who don’t have even one moment. Think about this: when everyone comes together, you can make a big difference in the lives of a few people. And when a few people come together, they can make a big difference in the lives of many people.

The gift of life is precious because it’s not promised to anyone and lost in an instant. It reminds us that every moment matters, every meeting matters and every person matters. We need to live our lives every moment of it every day, because one day we might not have that chance anymore. So let’s not waste a single minute. Let’s live while we’re alive.

Life is a present that you can choose to take or leave. You need to appreciate everything you’ve got, because one day it might be gone. Sometimes life isn’t pretty; sometimes things go wrong and you don’t know how it’s going to turn out. But there are great things out their waiting for us every day if we look for

Life is Precious Essay

To argue against the death penalty is to argue for what is right and just. This is the mark of a civilized and informed people. To argue against the death penalty, one must argue against people with absurdly unreasonable, underlying assumptions, with emotionally-based arguments, made nearly invisible by cultural programming. Our cultural mythology leads us to expect that evil must be destroyed and that happily ever after will win out in the end. We have to look carefully beyond our underlying mythology to understand the science of evil, to understand value relativity and the consequences of abuse and damaged lives. If we are critical thinkers who want to do the right thing, we have no choice but to be firmly against the death penalty, under all circumstances, because life is precious. To sentence someone to life in prison is a far more effective deterrent to crime than to execute (Meserli). The threat of execution can be seen as a thrilling gamble by some, like a game of Russian roulette. In risking life, it becomes an extreme sport, to a career criminal, to do violent crime. Death is an honorable drama, especially if faced without remorse. But there is no honor, not even criminal honor, in living a life of no freedom, wasting life behind bars. Life in prison offers a long time for self reflection and places a criminal, who preys upon others, into the role of prey for even worse others. This might eventually lead to an understanding of life’s worth. When the State kills someone for having killed someone else, this teaches only the uncivilized doctrine of revenge. This is obvious to Australia and Canada and European countries who understand the hypocrisy of killing for killing, and therefore do not support the death penalty. America has not reached this level of maturity, on this matter, unfortunately. I have noticed that when yet another execution is scheduled to take place in Texas, for example, the public turns its sympathetic energy away from the crime victim, toward rescuing the convicted felon with a last minute reprieve or yet another appeal. Even when this support proves to be inadequate, and the execution proceeds, nothing is restored to the victim, or to the victim’s loved ones. The victim is still wronged and still dead. The family still grieves. The attention around an execution surely cannot help the family. Families sometimes say they do not want the death of the perpetrator. They understand it serves no purpose and they choose to forgive (O’Shea). Those who strongly want an execution are thinking emotionally, and not rationally. They have been reduced to immoral thinking when they, like the criminal, lust after death. The State should be sensitive to how they feel, but should not commit murder to make them feel better. It severely victimizes the prisoner’s family to see a relative put to death by the State. This is inhumane, and it violates our constitutional protection against cruel and unusual punishment. This is especially critical in the case of mistakes, in which innocent people are convicted and executed, or cases in which mentally ill people or mentally retarded people are executed. Even with all our fancy technology, mistakes in judgment and evidence are made. To put a face on one of those mistakes, we can consider the case of Leo Jones. Florida police arrested Mr. Jones as a suspect in the killing of a policeman. For the next 12 hours, Florida police beat him, threatened him, tortured him, and forced him to play Russian roulette (Griffin). Leo Jones was understandably afraid that the police would kill him. In fact, the police repeatedly told him they were going to kill him. Responsive to this, he signed a confession, even though he was innocent. The circumstances of the coerced confession were presented to the court, and still this innocent man was declared guilty and sentenced to die by the electric chair. Mr. Jones appealed, but his appeals were denied. When personal justice was not achievable, he turned his attention to an issue of social justice. He tried to get the State of Florida to reconsider “Old Sparky”, their execution implement, which was an antique, and dubiously functional. When he lost that petition, he asked to be put to death by an alternate means. This too was denied. Leo Jones, still protesting his innocence, was unjustly put to death, by electric chair, 17 years after being wrongfully accused. When it was too late for Leo Jones, the State of Florida recognized that he was innocent, and they also decided to retire their electric chair. The State’s excuse for murder was that they thought he had committed murder. To me, and to any clear-thinking person, killing someone for killing is senseless. Do we bite our children for biting? Do we force a marriage partner to eat burnt toast, because they burned the toast? Do we eat a cannibal or rape a rapist? Should we sprinkle germs on those who inadvertently spread them? Should we deprive a newborn of sleep because we were kept awake? Yet we kill someone for killing. In Leo’s case, 12 people said he was not involved in the killing of the police officer, and these 12 people told authorities who they knew to be involved (Griffin). In Leo’s case, the facts were ignored. A post-death exoneration by the State cannot undo what happened to Leo Jones. His life was given no value by those who are charged to protect citizens, in a country with guaranteed rights to life and the pursuit of happiness. Not only is Leo Jones irreversibly dead, but he was tortured, physically and mentally abused in the name of the State. He had 17 years of his life stolen from him, and then, in a final betrayal, this innocent man lost his rightful future. If Leo Jones were an anomaly, we could reason that sometimes bad things happen unfairly to innocent people. But Leo Jones is not alone. His abuse, stolen freedom, and execution is one of many mistakes made by an imperfect system. His is one story among a collection of stories. His blood is on our hands. Execution is expensive financially and emotionally. The execution of a prisoner is two to five times more expensive than life imprisonment, and the appeals process clogs the court system (Meserli). Probably most of these crimes would have been inexpensively preventable with early intervention. Most people on death row are the victims of child abuse and poverty (O’Shea). If society would invest in alleviating poverty, supporting education and parenting skills, and funding child protective services adequately to enable them to follow through on abuse reports, immediately, then we would not be faced with the financial challenge and ethical debate about execution. I believe that each person has worth. The problems of abuse extend beyond the circumstances of any one family, and must be seen in the context of poverty, materialism, fractured spirituality, nature disconnection, broken families, substance abuse, educational inequality, unequal access to medical care, and social class and racial inequality that determines who is arrested for crime and who is not, who gets off and who does not. These are complex social issues and no easy answers are engaged by killing our social failures. They are not the failures of a single monster, but are the failures of us, the society they depended on to back them up when they were too young and vulnerable to save themselves. To kill them supports a delusion that we are innocent. It is a lie, and the death penalty is unreasonable in all circumstances. If life is precious, then everyone’s life is precious. First of all, Life refers to an aspect of existence. This aspect processes acts, evaluates, and evolves through growth. Life is what distinguishes humans from inorganic matter. Some individuals certainly enjoy free will in Life. Others like slaves and prisoners don’t have that privilege. However, Life isn’t just about living independently in society. It is certainly much more than that. Hence, quality of Life carries huge importance. Above all, the ultimate purpose should be to live a meaningful life. A meaningful life is one which allows us to connect with our deeper self.

Why is Life Important?

One important aspect of Life is that it keeps going forward. This means nothing is permanent. Hence, there should be a reason to stay in dejection. A happy occasion will come to pass, just like a sad one. Above all, one must be optimistic no matter how bad things get. This is because nothing will stay forever. Every situation, occasion, and event shall pass. This is certainly a beauty of Life.

Many people become very sad because of failures . However, these people certainly fail to see the bright side. The bright side is that there is a reason for every failure. Therefore, every failure teaches us a valuable lesson. This means every failure builds experience. This experience is what improves the skills and efficiency of humans.

Probably a huge number of individuals complain that Life is a pain. Many people believe that the word pain is a synonym for Life. However, it is pain that makes us stronger. Pain is certainly an excellent way of increasing mental resilience. Above all, pain enriches the mind.

The uncertainty of death is what makes life so precious. No one knows the hour of one’s death. This probably is the most important reason to live life to the fullest. Staying in depression or being a workaholic is an utter wastage of Life. One must certainly enjoy the beautiful blessings of Life before death overtakes.

Feature image of Essay on Life is a Gift

A gift is viewed as something unique, valuable, and mysterious. Life is the most priceless and precious gift our parents have bestowed upon us. It’s a fascinating journey full of adventures with unknown and unexpected elements. It can fill us with love, happiness, and a feeling of purpose.

Life is an art for some, which they wish to paint in vibrant colours, while it is a science for others, which must be mastered with discipline and punctuality. While some people squander their life on worthless pursuits, others find meaning in the most insignificant objects and circumstances. We are gifted with the five senses to experience life sensuously.

We must recognise its significance and strive to develop ourselves daily. Our activities, as is commonly stated, purify our souls. Some of us devote our lives to doing good things, while others squander them in the hope of greater results. While some have good intentions, others are out to harm. Life is full of both good and painful experiences. We must not give up if we have had an unpleasant or unpalatable experience in life. It’s important to remember that it’s just transitory and that with perseverance, it can be conquered.

A gift is regarded as special, valuable, and mysterious. Life is the most precious gift that our parents have given us. It is a delightful journey packed with adventures containing unknown and unanticipated elements. It has the tremendous potential to provide us with love, happiness, and a sense of meaning. For some, life is an art they want to paint in wonderful colours, while for others, life is a science that must be mastered with discipline and punctuality.

While there are people who waste their lives in meaningless endeavours, there are others who fetch meaning from the most futile objects and situations. We are gifted with the five senses to experience life sensuously. We must understand its importance and work hard to improve ourselves every day. It is often said that our actions purify our souls. Some of us dedicate our lives to performing good deeds, whereas others spoil it in the hope of getting better results. While some have ethical intentions, others have evil objectives. Every day is a gift to learn new things and enjoy the new experience.

We must embed our lives with the people we love. We must preach kindness. If we are kind to one another and respect humanity, life will be kind to us and appreciate our existence. We all should have a motto that shall help us make this earth a better place. We must work on the legacy we wish to leave behind us. It must be something that would be cherished by the ones who know the ones who are strangers to us and us.

Living life is not easy. Some days are tough and demanding, and it takes courage to sail through them. On such days, remembering the struggles of people who had come before us and did not give up in the face of hardships will encourage us. Life almost always offers us a wide range of options. However, we must make our choices wisely.

We must be guided by reason, and we should be passionate about all the activities we indulge in. Our sheer determination can make the impossible possible. We must have faith and promise to give our best in all situations. We should also allow ourselves leisure to take vacations, practice sport, work on our hobbies, read and write. As William Henry Davies puts it in the poem Leisure,

“What is this life, full of care? We have no time to stand and stare.” We must never limit ourselves in our scope of doing something.

After all, life is not a bed full of roses, but it gives occasional prickly thorns in our pathway, which we must tread carefully. We can take the flower lily as an inspiration. Although it lasts for a brief period, its aroma creates a freshening and beautiful environment. Living life honourably is the duty of every human being. We must spend our life inspiring others with thoughts that stir ecstasy. We must apprehend that life is a gift and not a burden.

Hopefully, after going through this lesson, you have a holistic idea of the value of life and the ideal way of living it. I have tried to cover every aspect of the topic briefly and in an expanded form. If you still have any doubts regarding this session, kindly let me know through the comment section below. Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” Hunter S. Thompson

We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity . Paulo Coelho

250 Words Essay on Time is Precious

Understanding the value of time.

Time is a non-renewable resource, a unique aspect of life that flows in one direction, never to return. It is invisible, yet its impact is profoundly visible in every sphere of life. The concept of time is fundamental to our existence, and it is a common denominator that unites all beings.

Time: A Precious Commodity

The phrase “Time is precious” encapsulates the significance of time. Each moment is a precious gem that, once lost, can never be regained. Unlike material possessions, time cannot be stored, saved, or controlled. It is a constant, moving at its own pace, indifferent to our desires or needs.

Time Management: The Key to Success

Effective time management is crucial for success in any endeavor. It is about making the most of the time available, prioritizing tasks, and avoiding procrastination. Time management is the art of aligning our actions with our goals, ensuring that we are not merely busy, but productive.

The Paradox of Time

Interestingly, time is both abundant and scarce. We all have the same 24 hours in a day, yet how we utilize these hours defines our success or failure. The paradox of time lies in its seemingly infinite nature, yet its finite availability to each individual.

Conclusion: Time as a Life Force

In conclusion, time is more than a mere measurement; it is a life force. It is a priceless asset that should be respected and used wisely. Understanding the value of time and making conscious efforts to manage it effectively can significantly enhance the quality of our lives and our potential for success.

500 Words Essay on Time is Precious

Introduction.

Time, often regarded as an abstract and intangible entity, is one of the most precious resources we possess. Unlike other resources, it is both finite and non-renewable. Once a moment passes, it is gone forever, leaving only its impact on our lives. This essay explores the value of time, its management, and the importance of making the most of it.

The Intrinsic Value of Time

Time is precious due to its unique characteristics. It is a resource that is distributed equally among all living beings. Regardless of our social status, economic power, or geographical location, we all have the same 24 hours in a day. However, how we utilize this time separates the successful from the unsuccessful, the fulfilled from the unfulfilled. Time, therefore, is a great leveler and an impartial resource.

Time and Opportunity

Time is intrinsically linked to opportunity. The adage, “Opportunity knocks but once,” is a testament to the fleeting nature of opportunity that time presents. Opportunities are temporal; they exist in a moment and then they are gone. If we fail to seize them, we lose them forever. As such, time management becomes crucial. We must be able to identify and capitalize on the opportunities that time presents to us.

Time Management and Success

Effective time management is a critical aspect of success. It involves setting goals, prioritizing tasks, and allocating time accordingly. Effective time management not only increases productivity but also enhances the quality of life. It reduces stress, improves focus, and allows for a balanced life. It is a skill that must be learned and mastered, especially in an era where distractions are abundant.

Time: A Nonrenewable Resource

Time is a nonrenewable resource. Unlike other resources, time cannot be stored, saved, or replenished. Once lost, it can never be regained. This characteristic of time underscores its preciousness. It makes it imperative for us to use our time wisely, to invest it in activities and pursuits that are meaningful, fulfilling, and contribute to our growth and development.

In conclusion, time is indeed precious. Its value lies in its impartiality, its link to opportunity, and its nonrenewable nature. It is a resource that, when managed effectively, can lead to success and fulfillment. However, it is also a resource that, once wasted, can never be reclaimed. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us to treat time with the respect it deserves, to use it wisely, and to make the most of the opportunities it presents. In doing so, we not only enrich our own lives but also make a positive impact on the world around us.

Technically, life is associated with feelings, growth and evolution. Like the plants have life because they grow; humans and animals have life as they feel sadness, happiness and they too grow.

The journey of life may not always be smooth but we must keep going and stay positive all the times. Life is the most precious asset on this planet and must be protected irrespective of its form and appearance. Every species, not only humans, have a fundamental right to live their life, I whatever way they desire. Life is a gift of God to humanity and any attempt to disrupt or damage it will have undesirable consequences.

Short Essay on Life: Life is Beautiful but Not a Bed of Roses – Essay 1 (200 words)

There is a lot of stress all around us these days. Most people complain about problems at office, issues in relationships and the growing competition in various fields. People are so engrossed in dealing with these issues that they don’t see the real beauty of life. There is so much more to life than these things. In fact, if we look at life closely, we will realize how beautiful it is. God has given us an abundance of everything. This is evident when we look at the nature. The trees, plants, rivers and sunlight – everything is in abundance and so is the energy that resides within us. This is the beauty of life.

However, this is not to say that life is a bed of roses. It is not! The problems and concerns of people are genuine. The rich, the poor, the educated, the uneducated, the beautiful and the not so beautiful – everyone has his/ her on set of problems. Life is not easy for anyone. However, we need to understand that this is how life is. If everything came easy we would not really value it. Life is beautiful in its own way and we should look for reasons to enjoy it and embrace its beauty amid the issues we are dealing with.

Essay on Life: Challenges and Goals – Essay 2 (300 words)

Introduction

Challenges are a part of life. We face different challenges at different points in life. While some people look at these challenges as an opportunity to learn something new others get disheartened and succumb to them. We learn many new things as we take on different challenges. These experiences make us a better person. We can overcome many challenges by setting goals. Goals give us the determination to achieve despite the hurdles.

Dealing with Challenges

Challenges require us to get out of our comfort zone. These can be difficult to deal with. However, we must deal with them with courage and determination. Here are some ways to deal with the challenges in life:

No matter what the situation is we must deal with it calmly. We shall be able to think of a solution and act upon it only if we stay calm. If we stress about it continually we shall not be able to act wisely.

  • Stay Determined

No matter how hard the situation gets, the key is to stay determined and keep going. We must not give up half way.

  • Seek Help from Family and Friends

There is no harm in seeking help from family and friends whenever there is a need. However, we must not depend upon them completely.

Set Goals; Give Purpose to Life

It is important to set goals in life. We must set both long term and short term goals for our personal as well as professional life and work hard to achieve them. Goals give purpose to our life. To set goals, we must first understand what we want in life and then make a plan to achieve it. We must always set a time frame for achieving our goals.

While challenges take us through new experiences and make us stronger, goals help us stay focused. Both challenges and goals are important in life.

Essay on Life: It is a Precious Gift – Essay 3 (400 words)

Life is a precious gift. It must be handled with care. We must be thankful to God for sending us on Earth and giving us such beautiful surroundings to live in. We must also be thankful to God for making us physically and mentally fit to live a wholesome life. Not just human beings, the life of animals, birds and plants is equally precious and we must value it too.

Appreciate Life and Express Gratitude

We must appreciate the good in our life and express gratitude for the same. Many people are not happy with the way things go on in their life. They criticize almost everything and everyone around and develop a negative outlook. They need to understand that the fact that they have been given a life to live is in itself a big thing.

The fact that they are in good health is a reason to be thankful for. The fact that they are able and can work hard and make their life better is another reason to be grateful. They must appreciate what they have and be thankful for it. Everything else can be achieved with some effort.

Don’t Waste Life

Many people indulge in bad habits such as smoking, drinking and taking drugs. The havoc created post consuming these can be a threat to their life as well as the life of those around them. Many people drink and run over their car on innocent people killing them or injuring them badly. They even hurt themselves during such incidents. Besides, all these things have a negative impact on a person’s health.

They incur serious health problems over the time thus ruining their lives as well as the lives of their family members. They must understand that life is precious. We can lead a purposeful life and add value to it or waste it and end up in a mess. Many people realize this much later in life mostly after incurring a major problem. It is too late then and they cannot go back and relive their life properly. We must value this gift called life when there is still time and tread the right path to enjoy it.

God has given us a chance to live and enjoy the beauty of the nature. Life is a precious gift and we must all value it. We must express gratitude and stay positive to make the most of this gift given to us. We must also value the lives of those around us.

Essay on Life: It is a Journey not a Destination – Essay 4 (500 words)

There is a mad rush all around us. In schools, offices, businesses and even in households – people are running around, chasing different things and trying to achieve things as fast as they can as if they are about to miss a train. This eagerness and restlessness to get somewhere is what they pass on to their kids too and it goes on and on. Where exactly do we want to reach? And how will we feel when we reach there? We need to slow down and ask ourselves these questions.

We must understand that life is a journey not a destination. This means that we need to go through it slowly and calmly enjoying every moment and making the most of it rather than rushing through it.

Find Happiness in Little Things

We often overlook the little things in life and keep chasing the bigger things believing they will give us happiness. While achieving our big dreams and goals does give us satisfaction however it is the little things in life that bring us true happiness. These are the things that bring a smile to our face later in life. For instance, parents keep telling their children to behave nicely, study dedicatedly and sleep on time.

They do all this to inculcate discipline in them. They want them to focus on their studies so that they can choose a good stream and build a rewarding career. They believe that all this will help them get a good life partner and build a happy personal life too. They have good intentions but are they really doing good to their children? In a way, no as they are stealing the precious moments of their lives that could be spent more joyfully.

Enjoy the Journey of Life; Don’t Rush Through it

The first twenty years of a person’s life are spent in mugging up their chapters and attempting to fetch good marks. Children are repeatedly told that they can enjoy once they get a good job. When they get a good job, they are asked to work hard to get to a good position in the company. Then they are told that they can enjoy their life after they reach a certain position.

When they reach a good position in the company, they require working hard to maintain the position. It is also time for them to plan a family and fulfill various responsibilities. They are then told that they can live peacefully and enjoy life once they retire. No one even thinks that they will not be left with the same enthusiasm, energy and zeal to enjoy life when they enter that age.

Life is happening now. We must enjoy it here and now and not wait to reach a certain position or phase of life to start living the way we want.

It is important to set goals and work hard towards achieving them. We must also set deadlines for our goals, stay focused and utilize our time wisely to achieve the desired result. What we should avoid is to rush towards them. We will come across many new things as we head towards our goals. All these will make us stronger and wiser. We should allow ourselves to see and experience these new things and learn from them rather than rushing towards the goal.

Long Essay on Life: True Value of Life – Essay 5 (600 words)

We all have just one life. We are here on Earth for a limited period of time and do not know when our time will end. We must thus make the most of the time we have. We must do good deeds, help as much as we can, appreciate the beauty around us and stay positive. We must value life and be grateful for all that we have as not many are lucky to have the kind of life we do.

True Value of Life by Philosophers

Different philosophers, scholars and literary people have defined the true value of life in different ways. As per poet Henry David, “There is no value in life except what you choose to place upon it.” “The true value of a human being can be found in the degree to which he has attained liberation from the self”, said Albert Einstein.

On the other hand, Myles Munroe states, “The value of life is not in its duration. You are not important because of how long you live, you are important because of how effective you live.

Identify the Purpose of Life

Different people indulge in different activities each day. Some people study, some do the household chores, some work on business plans, some work for an employer and some just enjoy and vile away their time.

Some people accomplish more than one or two of these tasks each day. They keep working on these tasks day in and day out and may take a break on the weekends. They may plan a holiday for a day or two or roam around locally to rejuvenate but as the next week begins, they start with their routine tasks yet again. Whether they like it or not they keep slogging every day as they feel that this is what they are meant to do.

However, this is a wrong perception. These daily tasks are just a way to survive in this world. We study, tidy our house, cook food, go to work and earn money just so that we can live comfortably. This is not our real purpose of life. It does not add value to our soul.

God has sent us on this Earth with a purpose. We need to identify this purpose and work towards achieving it. Once we know the purpose and successfully achieve it, we must then understand how it can help those around us and look for ways to assist them. Each one of us has been bestowed with a special power or gift. We must share it with others to make the world a more beautiful place to live in.

Count Your Blessings

We must value everything and everyone in our life. Nothing in our life should be taken for granted. We must value our parents, our siblings, our friends, our job, our house, our belongings and everything God has bestowed on us. And above all, we must value our life.

We must be grateful to the almighty for giving us the ability to take care of ourselves. We must always look at the positive side of life. We should count our blessings and value them. God has given us so many things to appreciate and we must thank him by helping those around us. We must help them live a better life.

We are born to serve humanity and make this world a better place. We must be thankful for all that we have and stay humble. We are all blessed with some unique power. Our purpose is to identify it and use it for uplifting ourselves as well as everyone around us. This is the true value of our life.

Family Is The Most Precious Thing In My Life Essay Example

I guarantee that most people have had the experience of their parents not picking them up when they were younger. I know I have been there. My dad promised to pick me up at 3 PM sharp. The harshness and loneliness of the real world had not yet been experienced by me as a 7-year-old; until my dad didn't show up. My mind sped through seven years of memories, from eating dumplings during Chinese New Year to the first day of school. I truly believed I would never see my parents again at that time. As a result of that experience, I learned that my family is the most precious thing in my life and the values they hold should be cherished by me as well.

Firstly, a family is, according to Britannica, a group of persons united by the ties of marriage, blood, or adoption, constituting a single household and interacting with each other. What does family mean to you? To me, family is there to celebrate happy moments, mourn sad ones, and inspire one another to succeed. Most importantly, there are three principles that I believe my family treasures.

Principle one: honesty. Honesty is a quality of being truthful. In a family where no one is honest and everyone lies to one another, every little thing will be complicated hundreds of times. Lies are like shoelaces and every time someone lies, another knot is tied. If someone lies very frequently, many knots are tied and the knots become harder to untie. A person who tells more lies will have a harder time apologizing and accepting everything they've done wrong. With honesty, interacting with family members becomes easier, and the bonds between family members strengthen. To have a happy family life, I believe that having good relationships with parents and siblings is crucial.

Principle two: Love. This goes without saying that love is essential in family relationships. Without love, what does a family look like? Would it still be a family? In reality, yes. However, I believe that love is a key element of family happiness. Every day when I’m about to leave for school, I hug my parents to show that I love them because I never know when the last time I see them will be. Love is a spirit that flows through everyone, it's the music that brings happiness and peace to the world, and it is the neglected food in your pantry but is always there at most desperate times.

Principle three: traditions. Our family has passed down its tradition from generation to generation. From the festivals our culture celebrates to the small things like where we eat every Friday night, tradition is the principle that I believe serves the most fundamental value in a family. Centuries of beliefs, ideas, teachings, and values were all passed down to me. The discipline in my family is one tradition that has always been observed. My parents have worked incredibly hard to immigrate to North America and receive a better life so I have been taught to keep working hard and move forward. I have been taught to celebrate my diversity and culture and I have been taught to motivate myself. I have been taught a lot, thanks to my family.

My parents are a guiding force that made me realize the values of my incredible family, so I am grateful for them. They keep pushing to allow me to thrive and bloom into a successful person by learning how to be honest, showing love to one another, and sharing my wonderful traditions with others. My mom is always there for me when I need someone to help me. My dad teaches me discipline and encourages me to become a better person. My parents told me this one quote that always stuck in my mind.

“Nothing comes before family.”

I remind myself every day of that quote. Yet, I still cannot believe that one little experience made me five times wiser. The values that are held dear to my family are the ones I live by every day. My family’s values are the most treasured things in my life and I will continue to pass them on from generation to generation; that I sincerely believe.

Life is God's most precious gift. But it is how we choose to live this gift that gives us full meaning and appreciation of what is truly important.

Authors Avatar

                Rudzewicz

Life is God’s most precious gift.  But it is how we choose to live this gift that gives us full meaning and appreciation of what is truly important.  Many will come and go in our lives, leaving imprints on our souls and memories that warm our hearts.  But with each lasting impression, we receive some of life’s greatest lessons that can’t be taught from any textbook.  These are the lessons of the wise and knowledgeable.  Those who have experienced, and those who have lived.  They are the people we never forget, the ones who drastically changed our lives forever, and it is forever that we are grateful.  They are the people like Morrie Schwartz and we are the people like Mitch Albom.

To fully understand life, you must have fully lived life.  Morrie Schwartz understood life, because he fully lived it, and continued to each day until it was his last.  “He is a small man who takes small steps, as if a strong wind could, at any time, whisk him up into the clouds.  In his graduation day robe, he looks like a cross between a biblical prophet and a Christmas elf.  He has sparkling blue-green eyes, thinning silver hair that spills onto his forehead, big ears, a triangular nose, and tufts of graying eyebrows.” ( Tuesdays With Morrie , 3)  Morrie was a man with integrity and poise, and yet filled with wit and character.  He was a professor at Brandeis University where to him it was not the grade that counts, but what you learned along the way.  He was a dancer.  The music didn’t matter, it was the attention of those around him and fun-loving spirit he possessed that gave him the desire to be free, to dance.  Morrie was the greatest teacher, in the eyes of Mitch Albom.  Mitch was a young, ambitious guy on the way to a successful but time-consuming career.  He didn’t take the time to prioritize, to see what’s really important.  He didn’t truly understand life, for he was not fully living it.  But his life was altered in an instant by something seen on TV.  “A thousand miles away, in my house on the hill, I was casually flipping channels.  I heard these words from the TV set-“Who is Morrie Schwartz?”-and went numb.” ( Tuesdays With Morrie , 23)

Tuesdays With Morrie  is a book written by Mitch Albom.  Mitch Albom is a famous sports writer.  He writes for the Detroit Free Press and lives in Michigan with his wife Janine.  This book has touched the hearts of many through its profound words and writing techniques.  Morrie’s words are words of wisdom.  “He wrote bite-sized philosophies about living with death’s shadow: “Accept what you are able to do and what you are not able to do”; “Accept the past as past, without denying or discarding it”; “Learn to forgive yourself and to forgive others”; “Don’t assume that it’s too late to get involved.” ( Tuesdays With Morrie , 18)  He is a man dying with ALS and still continues to teach Mitch the greatest lessons of life.  Mitch has a very unique way of writing.  He writes with a great deal of emotion by letting you experience what he’s feeling inside.  His emotions are strong and clear.  They are supported throughout the story by the actions and decisions he makes.  He writes in vivid detail describing significant and insignificant points to visualize his ideas.  He uses the flashback technique for the reader to get a better understanding about him and his relationship with Morrie before he was dying and after he was diagnosed.

The book is based on the drastic change Mitch encounters that turns his life around because of one person.  This person is Morrie.  He was Mitch’s professor in college whom he promised to keep in touch with, but like many, never did.  The demanding pressures of work and other prior engagements tore him away from those most important to him and what he eventually discovered to be the most important: life, and it’s lessons along the way.  He eventually discovers Morrie is now dying by seeing him on TV one night.  He makes an effort to go visit him, and life as he knows it, has already begun to change.  Morrie welcomes him with open arms and they soon get back to the way things were while Mitch was in college.  The book receives its title Tuesdays With Morrie  because Mitch went to first visit Morrie on a Tuesday.  After that, he proceeded to visit every following Tuesday.  Tuesday plays an important role throughout the story.  Tuesday was the day Mitch changed his whole schedule around to see Morrie.    Tuesday was the day he proposed to his wife Janine.  And Tuesday was the day that Morrie taught his greatest lessons about life.  He also titled each day throughout the book.  An example of this is “The Tenth Tuesday We Talk About Marriage.”  Then he would talk about Morrie’s lesson as they would discuss the topic together and Mitch would realize what’s truly important in life by mentally noting it.  Throughout the story Morrie often refers to making Mitch cry.  He says “One day, I’ll show you it’s okay to cry.”  Mitch puts on a tough exterior and like most people, hides from the things he most fears.  Morrie teaches him to confront his fears and that it’s okay to cry, and he does, the day he says good-bye to Morrie.  The book’s theme is life’s greatest lesson.  Morrie helps Mitch to see that it’s not money or fame that makes you truly happy, but the love you give and receive from others, as well as the happiness you give yourself.  After Morrie dies, his lessons play in Mitch’s head as he goes on living life day by day.  His life has changed for he is now living as Morrie would, to the fullest.

“Have you ever really had a teacher?  One who saw you as a raw but precious thing, a jewel that, with wisdom, could be polished to a proud shine?  If you are lucky enough to find your way to such teachers, you will always find your way back.  Sometimes it is only in your head.  Sometimes it is right alongside their beds.  The last class of my old professor’s life took place once a week, in his home, by a window in his study where he could watch a small hibiscus plant shed its pink flowers.  The class met on Tuesdays.  No books were required.  The subject was the meaning of life.  It was taught from experience.  The teaching goes on.” ( Tuesdays With   Morrie , 192)  Life is a challenge, an experience.  The greatest lessons learned are often told by those who have lived them.  Morrie is an example of how to live life.  And Mitch is an example of how to change your life.  Together, they are life’s greatest lesson of living, learning, and passing it on.

Life is God's most precious gift. But it is how we choose to live this gift that gives us full meaning and appreciation of what is truly important.

Time is Precious Essay

Time is among the very few things that once lost can never be recovered. Think about it: the average life of a person is just a reservoir of 2.4 billion seconds or 75 years in first world nations, where life expectancy is quite high. The situation is worse in third world nations. So, each passing second our reservoir sheds time, just like in an hour glass.

Unfortunately, most people do not realize how precious time is until in later years of their lives. Money lost can be recovered; trust broken can be amended; opportunity lost can be replaced by another opportunity. However, when time is lost it has gone forever. So, what makes time very precious that we have to make the best out of it?

Ever heard the phrase that “time stands still for no man”? Well, it is as clear as that. Time is always in motion. It does not stop for no one, rich or poor, famous or ordinary, Muslim or Christian, man or woman. Each person is given 24 hours a day to either utilize it or waste it away. Time waits for nobody, but it gives us equal duration to follow our dreams or waste them. Since it cannot be contained, we are only gifted with the power of memory to capture all the great moments that made our lives worthwhile.

Secondly, time is priceless. You have probably heard the saying that “the best things in life are for free”. Same goes with time- it is the best gift that life has to offer us. You cannot put a monetary value to time. You cannot redeem it with any form of money or property. If that were the case, then many wealthy men would have traded their billions of dollars to enjoy more time on this lovely earth.

People actually say that “they are buying time” to mean that they are delaying the inevitable. The truth of the matter is that they are wasting their precious resource not doing something that they will end up doing it in the near future and in the process waste more time.

Furthermore, time can never be recreated, once it is gone it is gone. What if time could be recreated? The concept of risk would be nonexistent. After a failure, loss or mistake, people would just remodel their time in a time travel fashion and go back to amend their mistakes. Time would be at a standstill.

There would be chaos with people going back and forth trying to rectify their errors. Most of the brilliant minds in history would not exist simply because their births were considered errors on their parents’ part. Life would, therefore, be worthless and people would waste it just the same way we waste renewable energy. The irony of it all is that we still waste it, despite time being a very scarce resource.

Also, time can never be borrowed or leased to anyone. Just like a thumbprint, it is uniquely yours. We are given time but in different proportions. Some grow past the century mark, while others do not see the light of the day and come out as miscarriages. The duration of life does not matter, however, because we have no control over it. How we live is what that matters, because we have control over our destiny.

It is the quality of life that matters and not the quantity. There are people who died very young, but lived far much better and fulfilling lives than people who grew to their old ages.

Time depreciates in quantity, but appreciates in value as time goes by. As we age, we realize that we are not invincible and death is always around the corner. It becomes crystal clear that time is a great asset that we have wasted away chasing after things that have no importance at all.

The little time we have left, we try to spend it with people we love. Unfortunately, our loved ones are at their productive stages and they also waste away time pursuing things that have little importance to them. It is worth noting that time appreciates in value, as we grow older because we become wise enough to know that it is a scarce resource that can be depleted any time.

However, for some people, time depreciates in value. This is especially true for people who have done crime and have to do time to atone for their crimes. This time is toxic to them and they just want to do away with it so that they can be free and get back to their normal lives. But, this time is not always bad when you factor in people who may be in need of it, such as criminals on death row waiting to be executed.

Another great example is a person who has wasted the quality of his life doing drugs. Eventually, his lifestyle choices will get to him. His life or rather time is depreciating in value with each passing second. This means that the rate at which our time is depleted is twice as fast for drug users. This is the reason why most of them die younger.

Moreover, time flies and it really flies fast while you are thinking of primitive things as doing your essay on time . Firstly, you are in baby diapers, the next minute you are in adult diapers. Some waste it away watching television and fantasizing about movie stars. Others waste it away doing things that are detrimental to their spiritual, economic, physical, emotional and social wellbeing.

Yet others waste their time waiting for the right opportunity to strike. Unbeknownst to them, opportunities rarely come and it is up to us to create them. Opportunities do not come flying through the window. You have to be in the nick of things, doing something meaningful and that is when an opportunity will arise.

Make most of your time and you will be rewarded ten folds of it, waste it and the little you have will be taken away, just like in the parable of talents. People make excuses that they just don’t have time to do something- maybe to visit their friends or loved ones or to go to that vacation that they have been postponing for the last six years or it may be a workout regimen that they told themselves they would pursue.

But, they never seem to have time to do them, as they continuously tell themselves. The truth of the matter is that there is time for everything, how we plan or fail to plan our time is the problem. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. This is actually true for time.

There is time for everything. There is time for work, study, eating, sleeping, relaxing, playing, praying, vacations etc. Failure to plan our life makes it seem scarce, when it is actually enough to do whatever we want to do. We have 24 hours in a day, yet there are individuals who are far much busier than us, yet still find the right balance to have a happy life.

The secret is how they plan their lives. They wake up earlier than most of us. Utilize the early morning hours doing something constructive like working out. After work in the evening, they rush to play with their kids, have family dinner and dedicate sometime for their wives. Then, they spend maybe an hour reducing some work log, before hitting the sack. Weekends are strictly for family and friends and each year, they have to go for vacations.

If someone wants to visit or do something for you, they will always find or create time. If they say that they didn’t have time, it means that you are not a priority to them. Why should they waste their time doing stuff for you, when they can use it to watch their favorite television shows?

Eventually, years slip away and we are unable to do whatever we planned to do. We realize how precious our loved were when it is too late. Our concept of time is skewed to the wrong side. We assume there is plenty of it and just procrastinate through it, just like how we do assignments. We do nothing for the most part of it and as the deadline approaches, we are knocked out of our hinges trying to beat them.

That’s the approach that many embrace in life, not knowing that we have only one life to live.  The best approach would be to do heavy tasks while we are young and as we grow older, the intensity and heaviness of the work should be reduced. The reality is that we do less work and more fun while we are young and then try to recover all the wasted time when we age.

The slogan that many youths have adopted is YOLO, which basically stands for You Only Live Once. While you would assume that it is an initiative by our young adults to make the best out of their time, they actually use it as an excuse to waste their lives partying, doing drugs and overindulging in sexual activities.

Do not assume that I’m pro-work with no fun type of a person. Fun is actually the best way to relieve work related stress, but it should be done in moderation. Too much work is bad for our health. The same way too much fun is also bad for us. To have a meaningful and balanced life, time should be planned wisely to accommodate all areas of life, because time wasted can never be recovered.
