Title: The Rainy Season – Nature’s Symphony of Renewal and Transformation

Introduction :

The rainy season, also known as the monsoon season, is a time of significant rainfall that occurs in specific regions of the world. It holds a special place in our lives as it brings relief from the scorching heat of summer, rejuvenates the earth, and creates a unique atmosphere of tranquility and freshness. This essay explores the beauty, benefits, challenges, and cultural significance of the rainy season, highlighting its transformative impact on nature and human experiences.

The Beauty of Rainfall

The arrival of the rainy season is often heralded by dark clouds gathering in the sky, followed by gentle rain showers. The rhythmic sound of raindrops on rooftops and the earthy fragrance that fills the air create a calming and serene environment. The landscape undergoes a remarkable transformation as nature awakens from its dry slumber. Lush greenery blankets the earth, and the vibrant colors of blooming flowers and blossoming trees add a touch of enchantment to the surroundings. The sight of rain cascading from rooftops, forming puddles, and trickling down leaves evokes a sense of wonder and awe. The rainy season paints a vivid picture of nature’s power and beauty.

Environmental Benefits

The rainy season plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance and supporting diverse ecosystems. The rainfall replenishes water bodies such as rivers, lakes, and reservoirs, ensuring a steady supply of water for drinking, agriculture, and other human needs. Aquatic ecosystems thrive as water levels rise, creating favorable conditions for the survival and reproduction of marine life. The rainfall also recharges groundwater reserves, replenishing underground aquifers that provide a lifeline in times of drought.

Furthermore, the rainy season nourishes the earth, promoting the growth of plants, trees, and crops. The water infiltrates the soil, delivering essential nutrients and minerals to plant roots. Farmers eagerly anticipate the rainy season as it is crucial for their agricultural activities. Crops flourish, fields turn into verdant carpets, and agricultural yields increase, contributing to food security and livelihoods.

Challenges and Disruptions

While the rainy season brings numerous benefits, it also presents challenges and disruptions. Intense rainfall can result in flash floods, causing damage to infrastructure, property, and even loss of life. Erosion of soil, landslides, and mudslides are common occurrences during this period. Transportation and communication systems may be disrupted, affecting daily life and economic activities.

Waterborne diseases pose significant health risks during the rainy season. Contaminated water sources and inadequate sanitation infrastructure can lead to the spread of diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and dengue fever. Mosquito breeding increases in stagnant water, further exacerbating the risk of mosquito-borne diseases.

Cultural Significance and Celebrations

The rainy season holds cultural and social significance in many parts of the world. Communities celebrate the arrival of rain through various festivals and rituals. These celebrations often symbolize renewal, abundance, and gratitude for the life-giving force of water. In India, for example, the festival of Teej is dedicated to the monsoon season, where women dress in colorful attire, sing, and dance to express joy and celebrate the onset of rain.

Human Experiences and Reflections

The rainy season evokes a range of emotions and experiences in individuals. Children joyfully splash in puddles, couples take romantic walks under umbrellas, and families gather indoors to enjoy cozy moments. The cool and refreshing weather invites contemplation and introspection, providing an opportunity for individuals to slow down, reflect, and appreciate the beauty of nature. The rhythm of raindrops can be both soothing and invigorating, inspiring creativity, and fueling a sense of connection with the natural world.

Conclusion :

The rainy season is a time of renewal, transformation, and celebration. It brings beauty, environmental benefits, and challenges, shaping our experiences and connecting us with the rhythms of nature. Essay on Rain 500+ Words

Rain is a natural wonder that plays a crucial role in our lives and the environment. In this essay, I will argue that rain is not just a weather phenomenon but a vital part of our world, bringing numerous benefits to us and the planet. Rain is a fascinating topic to explore because it affects us all, from farmers and plants to animals and cities. Let’s delve into the reasons why we should appreciate and value rain.

Sustaining Life

Rain is essential for life on Earth. It provides the water we need to drink and for plants to grow. Without rain, our rivers, lakes, and even our drinking water sources would dry up. In fact, experts estimate that nearly 75% of the Earth’s surface is covered by water, but only a tiny fraction of that is freshwater suitable for drinking. Rain helps replenish this precious resource, ensuring we have access to clean water.

Agriculture and Food Production

Farmers rely on rain to grow crops and produce food. When rain is scarce, droughts can devastate crops and lead to food shortages. For example, rice, wheat, and corn are staples of our diet, and they all require a certain amount of rainfall to thrive. Without rain, these crops wouldn’t grow, and our plates would be much emptier.

Natural Ecosystems

Rain supports diverse ecosystems, from lush rainforests to arid deserts. Many animals and plants have adapted to depend on the regular patterns of rain. It provides them with the water they need to survive. Additionally, rain can create beautiful habitats, like wetlands and marshes, which serve as homes for countless species.

Weather Regulation

Rain plays a crucial role in regulating the Earth’s climate. It helps cool the atmosphere and balances the earth’s temperature. When rain falls, it can reduce the heat in the air, making the environment more comfortable for us and other creatures. This cooling effect helps to mitigate extreme weather conditions, such as heatwaves.

Cleaning the Air

Rain is like nature’s shower for the atmosphere. As raindrops fall through the air, they capture dust, pollutants, and particles, effectively cleansing the atmosphere. This natural purification process helps improve air quality by removing harmful substances. In cities, especially where air pollution can be a significant problem, rain helps keep the air cleaner and healthier to breathe.

Promoting Growth

Rain promotes the growth of green spaces and gardens in urban areas. It nourishes trees, flowers, and grass, making cities more beautiful and enjoyable places to live. These green spaces provide us with recreational areas, shade, and even help reduce stress and anxiety. The benefits of rain extend beyond rural landscapes; they enrich our urban environments as well.

Conclusion of Essay on Rain

In conclusion, rain is an incredible force of nature that brings numerous benefits to our world. From sustaining life and agriculture to maintaining natural ecosystems, rain plays a vital role in our daily lives. It regulates the climate, cleans the air, and fosters growth in both rural and urban environments. It’s clear that rain is not just an ordinary weather event; it is a precious resource that we should cherish and protect. As we appreciate the importance of rain, let’s also remember to be mindful of our actions and take steps to preserve and conserve this valuable gift from nature.

Key Points To Remember When Writing an Essay on Rains for Class 1, 2 and 3

10 lines on a rainy day in english, short essay on a rainy day, long paragraph on a rainy day, what will your child of classes 1, 2 and 3 learn from an essay on a rainy day.

Monsoon is an important season in India, spanning over four months. Rainfall is a significant event for various people, including farmers, industrialists, even city dwellers who wait for the rains to get some respite from the summer heat. Children, too, love the rain and enjoy various events related to it. It is interesting to know about a child’s perspective on rains. Teachers in school often ask students of lower primary classes to write an essay on rain. This assignment requires them to write about their observations and experiences during a rainy day, their knowledge about seasons, how it affects various people and their thoughts and feelings. Children then express these ideas on paper in short and simple sentences. It helps to strengthen their basic grammar foundation and improves their vocabulary. Children will enjoy penning down their fun-filled experiences on this refreshing topic.

When asked to write a paragraph rains, your child needs to remember a few essential points. Let us guide your little one to write a beautiful essay on ‘A Rainy Day’:

  • First, let your child think about the points they want to include.
  • Next, let your child pen down the ideas on paper to form an outline. It will help them cover all the points in the correct sequence while writing the essay.
  • Then, guide your child to write easy-to-read short and simple sentences from each point in the outline.
  • Encourage your child not to get too descriptive about any single idea, which will help them stick to the word count.
  • Guide your child to write with the flow, making them enjoy writing the essay.
  • A few points your child can include are how much they like a rainy day, what all they do in the rain and what they see outside their windows.

A rainy day is always special for a child as it breaks the monotonous routine of all days. Let us guide your child to write a refreshing rainy day essay for classes 1 and 2 in 10 short and simple lines:

  • A rainy day is a fun day.
  • A rainy day comes as a relief after a hot summer day.
  • The animals and birds also enjoy the rain after the scorching summer heat. They also get more water to drink.
  • Plants and trees also get plenty of water during rains and look more green and fresh.
  • Rain may come in a drizzle or a very heavy shower. Light to moderate rain is refreshing, but heavy rain can lead to floods.
  • I always have a nice time during the rains.
  • My all-time favourite activity is to sail paper boats in the rainwater.
  •  Rainfall washes away all the dust from the street.
  • A rainy day is often accompanied by lightning and thunder.
  • Sometimes when it is raining, you can also see a rainbow in the sky.

Children love experiencing rain. Their unique perspective on the season and their observations and experiences of the world around them are interesting to read when they write an essay on ‘A Rainy Day’. However, they may find it challenging to put their ideas in words. Here is a sample essay for children of lower primary classes which will help them write on their own.

Monsoon is my favourite season of the whole year. A rainy day cools down the earth and comes as a much-needed breather after the hot summer days. Humans, animals, birds and trees all rejoice in rainfall. The rains wash away dust from the trees, leaves, fruits, flowers and the whole environment. In India, an agricultural country, the farmers wait all year for the rains. The rainfall determines a good harvest. The absence of rains leads to draught. Too much rain is also bad for crops as it floods the farmlands. In the cities, we have fun on rainy days. We go to the lawns or the terrace and get wet in the rain. We sail bright, colourful paper boats in the water. It is fun to eat hot food during the rains. My dad makes his special khichdi, and we enjoy that along with hot, crispy potato fries sprinkled with black salt. I have the best time on rainy days.

Students of class 3 are expected to pen down their thoughts in a more descriptive essay. They will also have to include some facts and general knowledge about rain and its effect on the earth. Children may find it challenging to elaborate on these ideas. Let us guide your child to write a beautiful long essay on rains with this sample:

Monsoon is a special time of the year. It comes as a refreshing change after the sultry summer months. The rains cool down the earth and provide a respite to everyone. Along with people, the rain comforts animals, birds, and trees. Rainwater is a natural source of water for life on the earth. It is the rains that replenish the water bodies around us. The rains are also significant to the agricultural community in the country. Farmers wait for the rains for a good harvest. They collect the rainwater in the wells and tanks and use it for irrigation. When rainfall is scanty, there can be droughts, and the crops dry out. However, too much rain can also spoil the crops.

I love rainy days. My brother and I go to the terrace with our friends, and we get wet in the rain. It’s a very refreshing feeling. We make paper boats with old newspapers and sail them in the water. We hop on muddy puddles and splash the water without worrying about getting dirty. Our furry friend, Sheru, who lives on the street, joins us in these fun-filled activities. I love the sound of rain and the smell of sodden earth. It’s also very beautiful to see the rain splattering on rooftops. Sometimes you can see raindrops trickling down the fresh green leaves. Raindrops on window panes shine like tiny golden beads when light falls on them. My father takes us out on a drive in the car during light showers.

In cities, too much rain can cause trouble. It floods the low-lying areas, and the streets get waterlogged. Animals and birds face difficulty in getting shelter. My parents leave a gate of our compound open for the stray dogs to come in and take shelter when it rains heavily. Animals also get scared of thunder and lightning during rains. Our pet dog Lucky also gets very scared when the thunder roars. We hold her tight to comfort her. Sometimes, I sit and look outside the window on rainy days, sipping a glass of hot chocolate. Some enjoy the rains while some who work on the streets have difficulties. It is usually fun to stay indoors during rains, but everyone can’t stay home. On the streets, you can see people carrying umbrellas of different designs. Many people are in raincoats. I had seen some street kids put on plastic bags on their heads, trying to save themselves from the rains. Last year we got a few raincoats for such kids. We also distributed umbrellas among some poor people to help them out. I feel happy knowing they will be comfortable now. I enjoy rainy days and always make the most of them.

While building their skills in writing, expression, vocabulary and grammar, your child will learn to think about the given topic and express their opinion on it. They will learn to put their experiences in words and even think about the situation from someone else’s perspective. This topic also presents children with an opportunity to understand certain universal issues they may not have seen themselves. This helps them develop empathy.

We hope the above sample essays help your child pen down a beautiful composition on A Rainy Day.

Use descriptive language: Incorporate vivid and evocative adjectives, adverbs, and sensory details to bring the rainy day to life in the reader’s mind. Capture the sights, sounds, smells, and feelings associated with the rain to create a rich and immersive experience.

Set the mood: Convey the atmosphere and mood of a rainy day through your writing. Reflect on the emotions and sensations that the rain evokes, whether it’s a sense of tranquility, melancholy, coziness, or inspiration. Create a mood that resonates with your readers.

Highlight the impact on surroundings: Describe how the rain affects the environment around you. Consider the impact on urban settings, such as the bustling activity of people seeking shelter or the reflections on city streets.

Paragraph 1

A rainy day paints the world in hues of gray and infuses the air with a sense of tranquility. As raindrops fall gently from the sky, they create a soothing melody that resonates through the surroundings. The rhythm of the rain invites introspection, as if nature itself is whispering secrets to those who take the time to listen. Embracing the stillness and surrendering to the rain’s gentle touch, one finds solace and a renewed appreciation for the simple joys of life.

Paragraph 2

On a rainy day, the world seems to slow down, as if caught in a suspended moment of time. The streets are bathed in a soft glow, reflecting the shimmering lights of the city. Umbrellas dot the sidewalks, creating a colorful mosaic against the gray backdrop. It’s a day for seeking shelter in cozy cafes, sipping warm beverages, and losing oneself in the pages of a book. The rain’s gentle patter against the windows provides a soothing soundtrack, comforting and cocooning all who are fortunate enough to be indoors.

Paragraph 3

The rain breathes new life into nature, transforming the landscape into a lush and vibrant tapestry. Leaves dance as raindrops cascade upon them, creating a symphony of nature’s own making. Puddles become mirrors, reflecting the world above and below with delightful clarity. The earth drinks greedily, quenching its thirst and nourishing the roots of plants and trees. It’s a reminder of nature’s resilience and its ability to find beauty even in the midst of storms.

Paragraph 4

With each raindrop that falls, a sense of cleansing fills the air. The rain washes away the dust and grime, leaving everything fresh and renewed. The world appears sharper, as if every color is more vivid against the wet backdrop. Raindrops cling to windows and blades of grass like tiny jewels, glistening with a fleeting brilliance. It’s a reminder that even amidst life’s challenges, there is always the possibility of starting anew.

Paragraph 5

A rainy day invites introspection, as if the pitter-patter of raindrops against the roof awakens dormant thoughts and emotions. It’s a time for turning inward, for delving into the depths of one’s soul. Memories resurface, evoking a bittersweet blend of nostalgia and longing. The rain becomes a companion, listening to whispered secrets and unspoken dreams. In the quiet moments of a rainy day, the mind finds solace and the heart finds clarity.

Paragraph 6

Children laugh and play, embracing the rain with unbridled joy. They jump in puddles, their laughter mingling with the sound of raindrops splashing against the ground. Raincoats and colorful umbrellas become their shields against the downpour. A simple walk in the rain becomes an adventure, where every droplet holds the promise of excitement and wonder. Their innocence and unyielding spirit remind us to find joy in the simplest of moments.

Paragraph 7

A rainy day is a muse for creativity, inspiring artists, writers, and dreamers alike. The gray canvas of the sky becomes a backdrop for imagination to unfold. Writers find solace in the rhythmic tapping of keys, as words flow like the rain outside. Artists capture the beauty of rain-soaked streets and umbrellas in vibrant strokes of paint. Musicians compose melodies that mirror the rain’s cadence, evoking emotions that words cannot express. On a rainy day, creativity finds its voice.

Paragraph 8

In the midst of a torrential downpour, there is a certain romance that fills the air. Lovers seek shelter together, finding warmth in each other’s embrace. They walk hand in hand, raindrops clinging to their intertwined fingers. The rain becomes a backdrop to stolen kisses and whispered promises. The world around them fades away, and in that moment, it’s just the two of them, connected by love amidst the chaos of the storm.

Paragraph 9

A rainy day is an invitation to pause, to slow down and appreciate the simple pleasures of life. It’s a time for curling up with a blanket and a hot cup of tea, losing oneself in the pages of a beloved book. The rain’s gentle patter against the window creates a soothing soundtrack, providing a peaceful respite from the demands of everyday life. It’s a moment to recharge, to find stillness in a fast-paced world.

Paragraph 10

The rain is a reminder of our interconnectedness with the world around us. It falls indiscriminately, nourishing the earth and sustaining life. On a rainy day, we are reminded of the shared experience of humanity, as everyone seeks shelter or shares a knowing smile. It’s a time to reflect on our common bonds, to recognize that despite our differences, we are all touched by the same rain, united under its gentle embrace.

Short Essay on a Day of Heavy Rain in 100 Words

Monsoon is my favourite season. Monsoon brings rain and provides us with much-needed relief from the scorching heat of summer. I especially love the days when it rains heavily. On such days, my parents don’t allow me to go to school and they take leave from their workplace. I get to enjoy the whole day with my parents and siblings.

The streets become waterlogged and all the kids in the neighbourhood start making paper boats. We put colourful paper boats in the water and enjoy watching them float. On days of heavy rain, my mother always makes delicious onion fritters. My father especially loves eating them with a hot cup of tea. After lunch, all of us play games like snake and ladder, carrom board, dumb charades, etc. I enjoy rainy days.

Short Essay on a Day of Heavy Rain in 200 Words

Monsoon is one of my favourite seasons. The sound of the raindrops falling on parched earth and the earthy fragrance that is radiated fills my heart with excitement and happiness. On days when it rains rather heavily, my parents don’t allow me and my brother to go to school.

My father takes leave from his office as well and I get to enjoy the day together with my whole family. As the streets become waterlogged, the kids in my neighbourhood rush to make paper boats. My brother is exceptionally good at making those. We put our colourful paper boats in the water and enjoy watching them float.

On days of heavy rain, my mother always makes onion fritters. My father says that there is nothing better than having freshly made onion fritters with hot tea on rainy days. My brother and I, however, enjoy drinking hot chocolate more. After having lunch together, we sit down to play fun games like snake and ladder, carrom board and dumb charades. In the evening when it gets colder and the electricity is cut due to the incessant rain, my parents tuck me and my brother in bed and tell us stories about their childhood days.

Short Essay on a Day of Heavy Rain in 400 Words

Monsoon is one of my favourite seasons. It is that time of the year when the dark rain clouds fill the sky after months of scorching heat and signs of new life begin to appear all around us. It is that time of the year when the sound of raindrops falling on parched earth and the earthy fragrance that is radiated fills everyone’s heart and soul with renewed hope and excitement. Everyone loves the gentle breezes and the mild showers that the monsoon brings but not many enjoy the days when it rains heavily. I, however, love heavy rains.

When it rains heavily, my parents don’t allow me and my brother to go to school. My father takes leave from his office as well, and we get to spend the entire day together. As the streets become waterlogged, the kids in my neighbourhood rush to make paper boats. My brother is exceptionally good at making those. We put our colourful paper boats in the water and enjoy watching them float. Sometimes we even compete to see whose boats will cover a longer distance.

On such days, my mother always makes onion fritters. My father says that there is nothing better than having freshly made onion fritters with hot tea on rainy days. My brother and I, however, enjoy drinking hot chocolate more. After having a hearty lunch together, we sit down to play fun games like snake and ladder, carrom board and dumb charades. In the evening, if the is a power outage, my parents make us go to bed early. My brother and I tell each other ghost stories and enjoy scaring each other.

A couple of years ago, a cyclone had hit our state and the rain didn’t stop for days. During that time, my brother fell sick and got a high fever. I saw my father going out to get medicines in waist-deep water. Most of the clinics were closed and no doctors were available. It was a scary time for us. I wished for the rain to stop.

When I looked outside from our balcony, there was not a single person on the streets. Everything was submerged in water. The next day, the rain stopped and in a few days, my brother got well too. Although it was a scary experience, my brother and I still love the rainy season and wait for days when it rains heavily so that we can skip school and enjoy the day at home.

In the session above, I have written those essays with a very simplistic approach for a better understanding of all kinds of students. They are a break from the monotony of clear skies, a time of respite and reflection, a chance to relish the beauty of nature in its most primal state. This essay delves into the essence of a rainy day, exploring the myriad emotions it evokes, and the impact it has on the environment and human life.

Rainy days are a visual and auditory spectacle. The sky, usually a vast expanse of blue, transforms into a canvas of grey, streaked with silvery threads of rain. The sound of raindrops hitting the ground, the rooftops, and the leaves, creates a symphony that soothes the mind. The fresh, earthy scent that follows a downpour, known as petrichor, is a sensory delight that is often associated with feelings of calm and rejuvenation.

Symbolism and Emotional Resonance

Rain is rich in symbolism. It signifies renewal and cleansing, washing away the old and making way for the new. It is a metaphor for tears and sadness, but also for relief and joy. A rainy day can be a time of introspection and creativity, inspiring poets, writers, and artists across cultures and time. The sight of rain can evoke a sense of nostalgia, bringing back memories of childhood days spent jumping in puddles or sipping hot cocoa by the window.

The Ecological Impact

Rain is essential for the sustenance of life on Earth. It replenishes groundwater reserves, nourishes the soil, and sustains the flora and fauna. A rainy day brings relief during a hot summer, reducing temperatures and increasing humidity. It plays a crucial role in the water cycle, maintaining the balance of our ecosystem.

The Socio-Economic Perspective

While rain is generally viewed positively, it also has its drawbacks. Excessive rain can lead to flooding, causing loss of life and property. It can disrupt daily life, causing power outages and hindering transportation. For farmers, rain can be both a boon and a bane. While it is vital for crops, unseasonal or excessive rain can destroy the yield.

A rainy day is a multifaceted phenomenon, a source of joy and sorrow, a symbol of renewal and destruction. It is an integral part of our lives and our environment, impacting us in ways we often overlook. The next time it rains, let us not just seek shelter from it. Let us appreciate its beauty, its significance, and its power, and let it remind us of our connection to nature and our responsibility towards it.

Short Essay on Rain

Rain – Short Essay 1

Rain refers to water that appears in droplets form as a result of condensation from the water appearing in the atmosphere. This water accumulates a lot of weight thus falling to the earth’s surface under the influence of gravitation power .

Rain is a major source of water to the inhabitants of the earth, and it also plays a major role in ensuring the water cycle is complete. Rain facilitates the growth of various kinds of plants as well as the survival of animals .

Water collected from rain can also be used in the production of hydro-power used in manufacturing industries as well as the supply of energy to homes.

Rain formation

The clouds are made up of countless small drops of moisture which later enlarges to form raindrops. The raindrops are of various sizes depending on whether there is a thunderstorm. Evaporation usually takes place at the bottom of the cloud. Dry and warm air makes the clouds to condense thus leading to rainfall.

Measuring rainfall

The amount of rainfall is measured by an instrument known as a rain gauge which is calibrated in millimeters. The information can be collected on a daily basis as well as annually depending on the kind of observation under investigation.

Factors Affecting Rain

A few examples of the factors affecting rain are as follows:

Rain and Geography

Rain and geography are strongly linked together. The equatorial region has a lot of rain forests. Here it rains almost throughout the year and hence the rain forests are always green. In Polar Regions and certain desserts, it rains very little or none at all. In many other regions of the world, it rains in the Monsoon season, between the summer and the winter.

Rain and Agriculture

Rain is a strong determinant for good agriculture in many countries of the world. Rainwater is the primary source of irrigation for the field crops. So agriculture cycles are planned around the rainy season.

Rain and Cities

Rain in the big cities is considered a hindrance to modern life. People have to prepare themselves to protect them from rain while going to work. Heavy rains cause traffic jams and can disrupt the economic cycle of big cities.

Rain and Mountains

Rain intensity is affected heavily by mountains. The rain clouds are stopped in their path by tall mountains like the Himalayas, and it affects the intensity of rain before and beyond the mountains in the path of the rain clouds.

Rain and geography are heavily interdependent, each affecting the other. The climate of a place plays a major role in determining the amount of rainfall to be experienced in that place. Deserts are less likely to experience rains as compared to highlands and forest areas.

Rain – Short Essay 2

Introduction and meaning:  Rain is the drops of water that fall on the earth from the cloud. Rainfall is defined as fall of innumerable drops of water (rain) at a time on the earth surface.

Causes of rain:  Water from seas, ocean, river, lakes, canals, ponds etc. get vaporized due to the heat of the sun. This vapor rises up and comes in contact with cold air and condenses in the form of cloud.

When this cloud, is cooled further, it cannot float in space and falls down on the earth surface as rain by the gravitational attraction of the earth.

How rainfall is measured?  The amount of rainfall at any place is measured by an instrument called rain-gauge. Rainfall is generally measured in inches or centimeters.

Classification

Rainfall on the surface of the earth may be classified into three kinds according to the causes of origin, characteristics and nature. There are:

Convectional rainfall: Intense heating of the surface of the earth during daytime, makes the air hot that is in close contact to the earth’s surface. This hot air expands in mass, becomes lighter and rises upward. The rising mass of air progressively losses the heat in the appear layer  of atmosphere where it cools up and is condensed thereby generating heavy shower often in the afternoon and evening when temperature reduces remarkably. Such a kind of rainfall found during evening and afternoon of summer season, restricted to a certain particular locality is defined as convectional rainfall. This type of rain is very common during afternoon in equatorial region.

Orographic rainfall: When flow of humid air coming from the sea is obstructed obliquely by a mountain, the air gets up sliding along the slant of the mountain and being cooled and condensed it causes rainfall on the windward slant. Such rainfall is known as Orographic Rainfall. In the state of Meghalaya such rainfall occurs at Cherapunji and Mousinram.

Cyclonic rainfall: Rainfall caused by cyclone is known as Cyclonic rainfall. Generally, when hot humid air and cold air, moving parallel to the earth surface, approach each other, the hot air rises above the cold air and causes cyclone. Mainly in temperate region such cyclone occurs.
