Objective / Purpose:

The Research Strategy and Operations function is responsible for integrating scientific acumen with business analytics and processes to deliver clear business plans, operational excellence and portfolio progression for the Takeda Research pipeline.

The Head of Portfolio Strategy for Research is a core member of the Research Strategy & Operations Leadership Team and plays a critical role in overseeing and optimizing the research portfolio, driving focus and prioritization. This role is accountable for portfolio analyses needed for effective decision making and ensures clear communication of portfolio strategy, status and decisions across the Research organization. Leverages expertise in portfolio management to maximize the value of our research investments and accelerate development of innovative therapies for patients.

The Portfolio Management team leads Research strategy and decision-making through data-driven insights and scenario planning, leveraging digital and AI for transformation. Optimizes overall portfolio by working closely with Research leaders, providing expertise for asset strategy, monitoring program team performance, and enabling strategic governance. Develops mechanism for and drives project prioritization, governance, and milestones, ensuring access to relevant portfolio and program data for proactive conversations with Research Leadership Team. Delivers competitive intelligence and portfolio data views to Research Leadership Team, interface with the internal governance bodies and global portfolio team and driving ongoing business development.

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive portfolio management strategy for the Research pipeline, aligning it with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Actively contributes to real-time and effective portfolio prioritization, decision making and key portfolio analytics to support individual asset and portfolio-level decision making, including at senior governance bodies.
  • Ensures alignment to Research strategy and priorities through strong partnerships with Research Leadership Team members and other senior leaders.

DESCRIPTION

UCSD Department of Psychiatry is one of the most innovative and productive academic departments in the country, offering challenging career opportunities in the diverse areas of advanced educational programs, cutting-edge research, and state-of-the-art clinical services. The department is committed to offering a dynamic learning environment and growing opportunities to its talented and dedicated employees.

Responsible for coordinating and managing PTSD clinical trials including providing all aspects of protocol management, including screening for patient eligibility, data collection and analysis, ensuring protocol compliance, monitoring patient treatment, and maintenance of accurate and complete clinical research files. Assist the regulatory department with Human subjects submissions, renewals, and safety reports. Directly communicate with assigned physicians and disease groups, including attending weekly meetings and tumor boards. Provide direct assistance to the Project Manager in reviewing and verifying university research account statements, professional fee statements, and invoicing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Theoretical knowledge of psychology, neuropsychology/cognition, and clinical sciences as typically attained by a Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience performing clinical research duties in a clinical research environment.

Clinical and/or research experience with mental health conditions.

Experience working with Veteran and/or First Responder populations.

Experience using statistical software applications. Knowledge of database, word processing and spreadsheet applications such as Velos, Access, Excel and MS Word.

Experience with clinical trials participant or study subject recruitment.

Experience coordinating study startup activities.

Experience providing in-service training to various research personnel on protocols, processes, and procedures.

Experience maintaining files and keeping records.

Excellent planning and organizational skills and ability to work in a changing, multiple-demand setting in order to prioritize a large volume of work and meet deadlines efficiently and accurately.

Excellent interpersonal, as well as written and verbal communication skills (using grammatically correct written English and accurate typing) to interact with a diverse population. Excellent phone etiquette skills.

Ability to work independently. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Experience completing clinical trials case report forms via hard copy and online.

Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse groups, including professional and non-professional staff and clients.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certification as a Clinical Research Associate or Coordinator.

Experience administering the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale for DSM-5 (CAPS-5).

Experience working with research bulk accounts.

Experience with investigational drug authorization criteria.

Experience with neuropsychological assessments, data, and values and experience in interpreting them to determine patient eligibility and potential toxicities.

Experience working with FDA policies regulating clinical trials.

Experience in neuropsychological assessment and patient interviewing to determine participant impairment as defined by protocol management.

Experience interpreting medical charts and abstracting data from medical records.

Knowledge of National Institute of Health (NIH), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Human Resource Protection Program (HRPP), IATA Shipping of Blood Specimens, and Bloodborne Pathogens.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $66,753 - $107,407 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $31.97 - $51.44

If you work for Redburn Atlantic in London, it seems you will earn less than the global average. Redburn (Europe) Limited's 2023 report has just been filed with Companies House. It reveals that average compensation per head for the firm's 254 employees last year was £168k ($215k) down from £187k in the heady days of 2022. 

Not everyone at Redburn is an equity researcher, but equity research is the primary function of the firm, which is the public equities arm of Rothschild. Redburn says it prides itself on the provision of "extensive, original, often counter-consensual research reports focusing on the industrial, strategic, disruptive and human factors driving operational and share price performance." If you're a researcher who wants to write detailed counter-consensual research, this is where to do it.

Today's report reveals that even Redburn's most senior key management personnel earned an average of £331k last year, down from £347k in 2022. However, the highest paid director received a 40% pay rise, to £700k.

Redburn merged with US research firm Atlantic Equities in 2023. Revenues went from £69m to £75m, but the firm's post-tax loss rose from £17m to £21m in the process.
