How to Unlock Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 ¶
This quest will unlock once you’ve completed the main quest, ‘Room of Requirement’. Professor Sharp will assign you these following tasks:
Where to Get an Invisibility Potion and Thunderbrew Potion ¶
Invisibility Potions and Thunderbrew Potions can be bought from J. Pippin’s Potions.

The Invisibility Potion will temporarily make you invisible (left), whilst the Thunderbrew will stun and damage nearby enemies. (right)
How to Unlock Diffindo Spell ¶
Once you’ve successfully used both potions, return to Professor Sharp in his Potions Classroom and tell him of your success. You’ll then get to learn the offensive spell, Diffindo. This spell has a long range and when used, it’ll send out a bright slash of white light towards the enemy, dealing slashing damage.

We’ll pick up this Assignment automatically following Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 . To complete it we’ll have a couple of tasks in our Field Guide to accomplish.
Objective: Acquire and use an Invisibility Potion
Objective: acquire and use a thunderbrew potion against enemies.
The easiest way to complete this task is to head to J. Pippin’s Potions in Hogsmeade and purchase all three potions from the shop menu. Alternately, if you have already purchased the recipes, you can brew them yourself.
Once you have done so, simply open up your Quick Tool menu (L1) and use them. The Invisibility Potion can be used whenever you like, however you’ll need to use the Thunderbrew Potion within range of enemies – it’ll create a small storm cloud that follows you around and shoots out lightning periodically. Nice!
Using both potions to complete the above tasks will update your objectives.

Earning the spell will conclude the Assignment.

I would advise you to keep tabs on what you consume in the Wizarding World if it was real, but since this is a game, well, go ahead and continue your potion tasting. Here is how to complete Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 in Hogwarts Legacy.
How to Complete Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2
In case you were wondering, yes, you will need to complete Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 to begin Assignment 2. Numbers! Anyway, this assignment will be really similar to the previous one. You will be tasked by Professor Sharp, our Potions Master, to go ahead and test two new potions. This time, we will test the Invisibility and Thunderbrew potions.
To get both potions, go ahead and travel to J. Pippin’s Potions, in Hogsmeade. You can either buy each potion or buy the recipe to brew them yourself. The former option is much easier and cheaper. One Invisibility Potion will cost 500 gold, with its recipe costing 800 gold. One Thunderbrew Potion costs 1000 gold, while its recipe costs 1200 gold. Once you have collected both potions, drink them and battle some enemies with the Thunderbrew. Then return to Professor Sharp to complete the quest and learn the Diffindo spell. Here is a table with both potion’s ingredients if you would like to know them.

Once this is done, find some enemies in the area and drink the Thunderbrew Potion, then you can go back to Sharp to learn the Diffindo Spell ( pictures3-4 ).

Professor Sharps Assignment 2: Hogwarts Legacy
You did very well during the Potions Class and even met Professor Sharp’s expectations with his first assignment but now he has another one for you.
Professor Sharp would like you to test out an Invisibility Potion to see its effects as well as use a Thunderbrew Potion against enemies.
To do this you will first have to get the potions though and while the Invisibility Potion won’t be hard to test, the Thunderbrew Potion may require you to find something to test it on.
How To Get Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2?
Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 is obtained shortly after you have completed the first one and is more likely to begin if you hang around the Potions Classroom.
Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 Walkthrough
Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 requires that you have at least 1 Invisibility Potion and 1 Thunderbrew Potion to use, which can be obtained in various ways.
1) Acquire and Use an Invisibility Potion
You can obtain the recipe for an Invisibility Potion from Parry Pippin for 800 Galleons or a single potion can be purchased for 500 Galleons.
To complete testing it, you can use the Invisibility Potion anywhere as this will already can’t but for the Thunderbrew Potion, you will need to have an enemy nearby.
2) Acquire and Use a Thunderbrew Potion Against Enemies
The Thunderbrew Potion Recipe can be obtained from Parry Pippin as well for 1,200 Galleons or you can purchase a bottle for 1,200 galleons.
Once you have a Thunderbrew Potion, you will need to be in close range of an enemy as this will cause lightning to strike around you.
An enemy must be hit by one of the lightning bolts for it to count as testing the Thunderbrew Potions and afterward, you will be ready to head back.
3) Return to Professor Sharp
After both potions have been tested and have met the conditions required, you will now need to head back to Professor Sharp in the Potions Classroom.
Once you are in the Potions Classroom , head over to Professor Sharp to speak with him and he will teach you how to use the Diffindo spell.
After learning the Diffindo spell, Professor Sharp will remind you to practice your spells and afterward, the quest will be complete.
Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 Rewards
Once you have completed Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2, you will gain 150 XP and will now be able to equip and use Diffindo.
It looks like some of the other potions that Professor Sharp wanted you to learn to use may be very useful in the future.
The Invisibility Potion is a great way to keep out of sight and can be an alternative to casting the Disillusionment spell.
Thunderbrew Potion on the other hand seems to be great for offense and can be quite handy when you are fighting multiple enemies.

Acquire and Use an Invisibility Potion
This is relatively straight forward and easy. If you haven’t done the quest A Demanding Delivery yet, this is the time because during the short quest you will use an invisibility potion, hitting two owls with one curse (is that the saying?). However, if you prefer a faster route, you can simply hop over to J. Pippin’s Potions and buy the potion for 500 galleons.
Yet, there is a bit of a trade-off with buying the potion. If you have the money, you might consider investing in the recipe for the potion instead. It is only 300 galleons more (800 total) and you will be able to make the potions at your discretion in the future. It will still be even more expensive though if you don’t have the ingredients, which you’ll have to buy.
If you choose the more expensive option and buy the recipe, you will need these ingredients to make the potion (note that you can buy them as well in Hogsmeade):
- Leaping Toadstool Cap (1) – 150 galleons (Pippin’s)
- Knot Grass Sprig (1) – 150 galleons ( The Magic Neep )
- Troll Bogeys (1) – 100 galleons (Pippin’s)

Just like with the invisibility potion, you can buy this potion at J. Pippin’s Potions, except this potion is much more expensive at 1000 galleons . Again, if you’re rolling in the galleons, then maybe buy the recipe instead for 1200 galleons.
Here are the ingredients you will need for the recipe:
- Leech Juice (1) – 150 galleons (Pippin’s)
- Shrivelfig Fruit (1) – 150 galleons (Magic Neep)
- Stench of the Dead (1) – 100 galleons (Pippin’s)
It is important to remember that you will need to use the Thunderbrew potion against enemies . This can be done expeditiously by fast traveling to the Forbidden Forest Floo Flame and strolling underneath the perilous canopy; there are plenty of enemies around there.

Hogwarts Legacy Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 is a side quest focused on teaching you how to use the Invisibility and Thunderbrew Potions in the latest video game developed by Avalanche Software .
It is similar to Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 , which must be completed to unlock the second task you’ll receive from the Potions teacher at Hogwarts. Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 in Hogwarts Legacy , just like the previous one, can be completed in less than 5 minutes, or it can turn into a fetch quest if you decide to brew your own Potions.
Regardless of how you wish to approach it, our Hogwarts Legacy Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 walkthrough below covers both methods while explaining how to use the Thunderbrew and Invisibility Potions to complete the required tasks. To start Professor Sharp’s second assignment, first, you’ll have to complete the first series of tasks, or Sharp’s Assignment 1 .
Then, you’ll have to keep an eye on your Owl Post because you’ll receive another letter from Sharp.
You don’t need to progress the story because Sharp’s Assignments have the same requirement. Now make sure you read Sharp’s letter, which reads:
Complete the task I’ve given you, and then meet me in my classroom to learn Diffindo, the Severing Charm. It’s typically used to cut an object but can be a powerful weapon when needed.
So, as you can see, besides 150XP, you’ll unlock one of the 34 Hogwarts Legacy Spells by completing this new quest Sharp has for you. Now, check the quests tab in your Field Guide, and you’ll notice that there are two objectives you’ll need to complete:
- Acquire and use an Invisibility Potion.
- Acquire and use a Thunderbrew Potion against enemies.
Now, let’s go over these two objectives and cover them individually.
How To Acquire and Use an Invisibility Potion
The fastest and cheapest way to acquire and use an Invisibility Potion in Hogwarts Legacy i s by completing A Demanding Delivery side-quest for J. Pippin because, during the said side-quest, you’ll need to deliver some Invisibility Potions to Fatimah Lawang.
After you find her, she’ll ask you to drink one of them, and the first Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 objective will also be completed. Since you receive the potions from Pippin, you won’t have to spend a single Galleon for this first task. If you have finished A Demanding Delivery, open your Field Guide Map and select Hogsmeade.
Now, fast-travel to the small town and visit J. Pippin’s Shop marked below. You may remember it from the previous assignment.
Enter J. Pippin’s Potions shop and talk to the vendor. Make sure you buy the Invisibility Potion from his inventory for 800 Galleons. Now exit the shop, and while standing outside, equip the Potion by pressing and holding down L1/LB and selecting it from the Tools Wheel using the Right Thumbstick .
Release L1/LB after you select the Potion. Now, simply tap L1/LB to use the Invisibility Potion. The third method to complete the first task is to brew the Invisibility Potion, but for this, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- Invisibility Potion Recipe – Obtained from J. Pippin for 800 Galleons
- 1 Leaping Toadstool Cap – Obtained by gathering the red mushrooms which grow everywhere
- 1 Knotgrass Sprig – Obtained by growing Knotgrass at any Potting Table or from The Magic Neep shop in Hogsmeade
- 1 Troll Bogey – Dropped by Trolls after defeating them
After you get all the necessary materials, you can brew the Potion at any Potion Station, such as the one in the Potions Classroom, and then use it following the steps above.
How To Acquire and Use a Thunderbrew Potion Against Enemies
To acquire and use a Thunderbrew Potion against enemies, first, you’ll need to get your hands on a Thunderbrew Potion. Luckily, you can also buy this one from J. Pippin’s Shop, marked on the map above, for 1.000 Galleons.
If you don’t have enough money, consider selling some of the Gear you no longer use. Once you buy the Potion, equip it following the steps above. However, this time, you’ll need to use the Thunderbrew Potion on enemies, so you’ll have to do some exploration until you find a group of enemies. Make sure that there are at least two enemies in the said group.
While you can do this on any group you want, for the sake of our H ogwarts Legacy Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 guide, we recommend visiting the ruins east of East Hogsmeade Valley Floo Flame.
At the location we have marked, you’ll find a small camp, and the Poachers there are perfect for testing your Potion. Simply enter the camp, let at least two enemies get close to you, and then tap L1/LB while the Thunderbrew Potion is equipped. You’ll summon a storm, and to complete the task, you’ll have to hit two enemies with lightning.
Similar to the previous Potion, you can be the Thunderbrew Potion if you have the following materials:
- Thunderbrew Recipe – Obtained from J. Pippin for 1200 Galleons
- 1 Leech Juice – Obtained from Leeches found around most water sources (rivers/lakes)
- 1 Shrivelfig Frui t – Obtained by growing Shrivelfig at the Potting Table or by purchasing it from The Magic Neep Shop in Hogsmeade
- 1 Stench of the Dead – Obtained by killing Inferi
Regardless of how you choose to obtain the Potion, once you have it, use it to damage two enemies. After completing the second task, it’s time to pay Sharp a visit, so open your map, navigate to Hogwarts, and select the Potions Classroom Floo Flame in The Library Annex.
After talking to Sharp, you’ll get the chance to learn the Diffindo Spell by completing the associated mini-game. Simply guide your wand (blue arrow) on the pattern on the right side, and press the buttons that appear on the pattern when your wand is above them.
After you unlock Diffindo, you can also practice the new spell on the dummy in Sharp’s office, but make sure you equip it by pressing Right on your DPad . And that’s it! You completed Hogwarts Legacy Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 , so now you should focus on the main quest named In the Shadow of the Undercroft .

Hogwarts Legacy: Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2
This guide shows how to complete Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 in the Hogwarts Legacy game, which released on 10th February 2023. You will learn the Diffindo spell by completing the assignment.
Acquire and use an Invisibility Potion
Travel to Hogsmeade. Then go to J. Pippin’s Potions shop, which is on the northwest side of the area as shown in the pictures below. Talk to Pappy Pippin in the shop and you can purchase Invisibility Potion from him for 500 golds. Now simply consume it to complete the objective.
Acquire and use a Thunderbrew Potion against enemies
You can purchase Thunderbrew Potion from J. Pippin’s Potions shop for 1000 golds. Now simply consume it while in a battle to complete the objective. Make sure that an enemy gets some damage from its effect for it to count for objective completion
Return to Professor Sharp
Talk to Professor Sharp and learn Diffindo spell from him to complete the assignment.

Hogwarts Legacy – Professor Sharp’s Assignments
As you progress through Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll receive assignments from Professor Sharp, who can be found in the Potions classroom in the Library Annex. You’ll receive the first assignment during the Complete the First Keeper Trial main mission. Below are walkthroughs for these assignments.
Assignment 1
Obtained: From an Owl Post after starting the Complete the First Keeper Trial main story quest.
For the first assignment, Professor Sharp will task you with acquiring and using a Focus Potion. You’ll also need to acquire both Maxima and Edurus Potions and then use them simultaneously. The easiest way to do this would be to purchase an Edurus Potion for 300 gold, a Focus Potion for 500 gold and a Maxima Potion for 300 gold from J. Pippin’s Potions in Hogsmeade. You can then drink the potions to satisfy the condition of each task. With that done, the next step is to attend Potion Class in the Library Annex. After the class speak with Professor Sharp to learn the Depulso spell.
Assignment 2
Obtained: You’ll receive an owl post from Professor Sharp shortly after completing his first assignment
The second assignment from Professor Sharp tasks you with obtaining an Invisibility Potion and using it. You’ll also need to procure a Thunderbrew Potion and use it against some enemies. You can buy both potions from J. Pippin’s Potions in Hogsmeade. The Invisibility Potion costs 500 gold and the Thunderbrew Potion costs 1,000 gold. You can use the Invisibility Potion anywhere to satisfy the task but for the Thunderbrew Potion, you’ll need to head to the world map and find a group of enemies then drink it near them. This will cause a small thundercloud to appear shocking your foes. With both tasks completed, return to Professor Sharp in the Potions Classroom and speak with him to learn the Diffindo spell.

To complete this quest, you'll need to visit J. Pippins Potions. Thankfully you can find this shop at Hogsmeade it's right next to the West Hogsmeade fast travel point.
You'll need to purchase a Focus Potion, Maxima Potion, and an Edurus Potion from Pary when you get inside the shop. These potions can be found under the Combat Tools section; buying it will cost you 500 gold.
Now you'll need to use a Focus Potion. After you take it, drink the Maxima Potion and an Edurus Potion simultaneously. Once you've done that, you'll have to return to the castle and attend class for the day.
To get there quickly fast, travel to The Libary Annex, and select the Potions Classroom fast travel point. Once you get into class, watch the cutscene.
Once class ends, you'll need to talk to Sharp and let him know you finished his task. He'll then teach you Depulso, and the quest will end. With Depulso, you'll be able to push enemies away from you.

Hogwarts Legacy Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 Walkthrough

Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 is the twenty-sixth main quest in Hogwarts Legacy. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 Main Mission.
Requirement: having completed Main Quest: Jackdaw’s Rest Reward: 150 XP, Depulso Quest Info: As directed by Professor Sharp, I successfully field tested the Maxima, Edurus, and Focus Potion. In return, Professor Sharp instructed me on how to cast Depulso, the Banishing Charm that pushes opponents way with tremendous force.
Objectives:
Acquire and Use a Focus Potion
- Acquire Maxima and Edurus Potion, and use them simultaneously
Attend Potions Class During the Day
Return to professor sharp, starting location: professor sharp’s assignment 1.
We’ve collected the three missing pages and made our way back to Hogwarts through the Dungeons. Professor Sharp now wants to teach us Depulso, but to do so, we must first complete an assignment for him.
Acquire Maxima and Edurus Potion, and Use them Simultaneously
Repeat the same for the Maxima and Edurus Potions.
Speak to Professor Sharp to start learning Depulso, the Banishing Charm.
As usual, steady your wand with the left stuck and guide it along the symbol’s path to learn the spell. Don’t let go of the left stick and remember to press the corresponding button to gain speed and lose the red spark. If you want to practice Depulso, there are some flying book in the classroom.
