The Best Vacations I Have Ever Had Essay

The best vacations I have ever had My trip to Canada was the best experience that I’ve ever had. Since I was a child, I had the dream of visiting a magical and beautiful place like Niagara Falls and meet my favorite animal, panda bears. To start my vacation, I went online, and I took a good deal to start my adventure. In that package was included tickets, several excursions and the hotel where I would stay. When it came the big day, I drove directly to the airport. I was super exited because I knew I was going to have a beautiful experience. My flight left on time and I managed to get to Canada at noon. When I arrived at Toronto’s Airport immediately I took a bus that was waiting for me to take me to my hotel. This was not a luxury hotel, but it was exactly what I was looking for. That day I did not do much because I was quite exhausted. …show more content…

First, I went to the aquarium to see the marine life, it was great, because we had a guide that showed us each animal and he was telling us his stories and giving us details about their lives inside and outside his natural place. Then we went to the zoo, where I met my favorite animal: panda bears, it was a dream come true, as I always dreamed. I could not stop observing every gesture they made, how they ate, walked and even how they gave each other love. Then to finish the day I went to a beautiful restaurant with a great view, called: CN Tower 360, I was very anxious to know that place, since my brother was engaged to his partner in that beautiful restaurant. There I got great attention, the workers were excellent, and my ears did not stop buzzing because it was at a height of 350 feet, it was something magnificent. The view, dishes, food, wine, atmosphere, tablecloths, in short, everything there had to be appreciated because it was too much-reduced beauty in one place. At nightfall, I went to my hotel to start preparing for my departure the next

Good Example Of Essay On Simply The Best Vacation I Ever Had

The sign read “Grizzly Bear Scene: June 15”. It was June 16th. The sign was posted to the billboard at the head of Flattop Mountain Trail. Hikers are required by law to post to the trailhead when they see a bear. A bear had been sighted at this trail the day before. This was a typical day hiking in Alaska. This was a typical day on the best vacation I ever had. Alaska is a place full of adventure and life. Its exciting wild areas and vast expanses of unexplored territory truly make it the Last Frontier. Yet, it is also a place where few people choose as a vacation destination. Few people decide to make Alaska their goal. Most tend to opt for beaches or theme parks or islands. People are mistaken to avoid such a beautiful, complex, and wondrous place and instead go to cliché vacation spots. Why Alaska? That is the question I repeatedly asked my parents when they announced we would be vacationing there for an entire month. In June 2009, my family and I boarded a plane to Alaska, where we would stay for a full month. The first thing I noticed is that it only gets dark at night for about two hours. The sun stays in the sky well past midnight and it reappears shortly after it sets. This feature alone is enough to give Alaska a strange and surreal feeling. The whole state has a kind of surreal, otherworldly feeling. As soon as the place touches down, you notice that something is different about this place. It simply doesn’t feel like the rest of the western world. It is surely one of the few places where a trip to Walmart can find you trampled by a moose. The trip started with an exploration of the city of Anchorage. Anchorage is not that capital of Alaska, but it is the largest and most populated city. Anchorage is a city of about 500,000 people. Alaska has a population a bit larger than one million and half of that population lives in Anchorage. It is an odd city. It is small and yet it still retains the particular feeling and life of a city. It certainly has particulars that set it apart and give it a true Alaska feeling. We went to museum and hunting stores and Walmart (just to see what Walmart is like in Alaska). The city was our base camp, but it was only the beginning. The next few weeks would take us far beyond the contours of civilization. One interesting thing about the city is that since the sun stays high in the sky far past midnight, the city tends to stay awake with it. Going to a late night movie in broad daylight is truly a surreal experience, especially when the sky is still bright when you leave the movie. Most of the younger people tend to stay out late into the night. They say that this is because darkness is what tells our brains that it is time to sleep. We were told that Anchorage is the most sleepless city in America, although no official studies were produced. We enjoyed hanging out in to the city late into the night and found that the businesses had adapted to the upside down schedules and most of them stayed open all night. One day in the city, we went to a bowling alley. Other than the fact that we went at three in the morning because the place was twenty-four hours, it was pretty much a standard bowling alley, except for the fact that the interior was covered in bears. It was like the interior decorating committee decided to use only bears in their decorated and when they finished, they got even more bears and stuffed them in too. It was bizarre. There were bears at the entrance, in the bathrooms, at the bar. They even had stuffed bears sitting in the seats (taking up space) so that you were literally sitting next to a bear that used to be alive. Apparently, the state of Alaska had an abundance of bear carcasses and the downtown bowling alley volunteered to take care of literally every single one of them. After a few days in the city, we made our way North toward the wilder part of the state. We drove amongst beautiful, gigantic mountains that dwarfed any landscape I had ever seen. I realized that I had never actually seen a mountain before Alaska. The difference between a mountain and hill is quite grand. We drove past wild places, mountain lodges, and even bear/moose crossing signs. We even had to stop our car for a while to let a moose cross the road. There was one section of road where we past a section that claimed simply to be called “The Marshes.” The signs said that this was one of the most dangerous parts of the state. While the marshes looked like a wet, sandy beach, they were actually extremely dangerous. Tourists often went walking on them and sunk in the sand or got stuck and drowned in the tide. Once someone ends up in The Marshes, it is nearly impossible to get them back out, especially racing against time as every night the tide rolls in and covers them in many feet of water. One day, while we camped out in the woods, we met another family from Florida who seemed to simply be copies of us from another state. We stayed at the sight for two days and hung out with our newfound friends. They took us down to the river to go fishing for king salmon. We did not catch a single fish that day, but we had a great time in our failure. They swore repeatedly that king salmon fishing was easy and we were bound to catch many fish. Then, when we caught none, they swore that this was simply an odd day for fishing. We fished again the next day to the same result. No one caught a single fish. Once again, they swore this was not typical. In the end, we decided the family was cursed and simply was not meant to be king fishermen. Another day, we made our way up Flattop Peak and at the top we found a bunch of white stones had been arranged into the words, “Will You Marry Me?” It was a lovely gesture and we figured that some couple must have had a special moment at some point. A few minutes into our stay at the top a man and woman showed up walking hand in hand. They walked right up to the stones and it seemed like we might not have missed the engagement at all. Sure enough, the man dropped to one knee and the couple were engaged right there in front of us. It was a lovely moment in front of a breathtaking view. They even asked us to take their picture for them. Some things simply cannot be planned, yet these moments can be the most memorable and meaningful ones. At Juneau, we boarded a train that took us on a scenic tour of the wilderness. This was a comfortable yet fascinating way to view a wild and new place. The train was made for tourists and ran for the singular purpose of showing off the gorgeous Alaskan wilderness. For this reason, it did not run directly to its destination. Instead, the tracks were built through some of the most beautiful areas in the state, winding through seemingly endless mountains and valleys. The train had a second floor made only of glass windows that showed the gorgeous landscapes in all their glory. We ended up in a small tourist town that used to be a bustling mine. The mine was now abandoned and used as a tourist attraction. It made for an interesting afternoon of exploring deep caves. We ate all kinds of strange and adventurous foods, like moose and bear and other exotic meats. However, none of this excitement matched the most interesting and memorable part of our trip. Of course, the longer you spend in Alaska, the more you read about people who have been eaten or mauled in bear attacks. You start to notice the news stories about people who went hiking and never came back, only to have their remains found on some nearby trail. I still wonder why we actually chose to go hiking in those places where people actually did die in bear attacks, yet that is what we did. We were greatly rewarded for it. Fortunately, not one of us was eaten by a bear. Those hikes remain as some of my fondest memories of a truly amazing experience. We found places throughout that month that were unlike anything we had ever seen. From breathtaking views to hidden waterfalls, we saw things we will likely never seen again. For that, hiking will always stand out as the high point in a truly wonderful trip. Often times, it is the simple things that are the most meaningful. One does not have to spend tons of money to make great memories. Alaska has been called the Last Frontier for its vast, unsearched spaces. It has been called the North Star, for its presence above the United States as a beacon to the north. Less positively, it has been called Seward’s Folly, demonstrating the true lack of foresight that some had regarding the land. I do not know what I would call it, but for me, Alaska will always feel like a small piece of home. The places we walked and talked and laughed and the feelings I had in those places are something that cannot be repeated or replicated. They live in my nostalgia and memory like simmering coals. They are delicate. To blow on them in hopes of relighting their fire would only quench their glow. What is it that makes Alaska so special? Why Alaska? I still cannot answer, but I suppose that is why they call it a personal experience. I suppose that is why it was the best vacation I ever had.

250 Words Essay on How I Spent My Summer Vacation

Introduction.

Summer vacations are often a well-deserved opportunity to relax and unwind, and my last summer was no exception. This essay provides insight into my unique summer experience, which was a blend of relaxation, adventure, and learning.

Exploring Nature

The first part of my vacation was spent in the lap of nature. I visited the picturesque landscapes of Colorado. The breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains and the tranquil beauty of the crystal-clear lakes were a refreshing retreat. This experience made me appreciate the serenity and grandeur of nature, fostering a deeper understanding of environmental conservation.

Cultural Immersion

I dedicated the second part of my vacation to cultural immersion. I volunteered for a community service project in New Orleans, a city known for its vibrant culture and rich history. The experience was humbling and rewarding, as I had the chance to interact with locals, learn about their traditions, and contribute to the community.

Self-Development

Lastly, I focused on self-improvement. I enrolled in an online course on climate change. This academic pursuit allowed me to utilize my free time productively, expanding my knowledge on a critical global issue.

My summer vacation was a perfect blend of leisure and learning. The experiences I gained, the people I met, and the knowledge I acquired have shaped my perspective and will continue to influence my future endeavors. This summer was not just a break from my academic routine, but a journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

500 Words Essay on How I Spent My Summer Vacation

Summer vacations are always a much-awaited period for every student. The prolonged break from academics provides an opportunity to explore new horizons, revisit hobbies, and spend quality time with family and friends. This summer, I decided to make the most out of my vacation by indulging in a variety of activities that not only rejuvenated me but also helped me grow as an individual.

Exploring New Hobbies

The onset of my summer vacation marked the beginning of my journey into the world of painting. I had always been fascinated by the colors and strokes that could bring a canvas to life. Hence, I decided to enroll in an online painting course. The experience was enlightening, to say the least. I learned about various painting techniques, color mixing, and the importance of perspective. The process of painting was therapeutic and allowed me to express my thoughts and feelings in a non-verbal manner.

Reviving Old Interests

In addition to exploring new hobbies, I also took the time to revisit my old passion for reading. I had been an ardent reader during my early school years, but the rigors of college had left me with little time for this pastime. During the vacation, I read a variety of books, ranging from classics to contemporary fiction. Each book transported me to a different world and broadened my perspective on various issues. The habit of reading also improved my vocabulary and language skills, proving to be beneficial for my academic pursuits.

Volunteering and Social Engagement

My summer vacation was not just about personal growth and leisure. I also wanted to give back to the community. Therefore, I volunteered at a local animal shelter. The time spent there was both challenging and rewarding. I learned about the importance of empathy, compassion, and responsibility. It was a humbling experience that made me more aware of the issues faced by animals and the importance of animal welfare.

Family Time and Travel

Family holds a special place in my life. Thus, spending quality time with them was a significant part of my summer vacation. We planned a trip to the countryside, which was a refreshing break from the city’s hustle and bustle. The serene environment, the lush green fields, and the simple lifestyle of the villagers were a soothing experience. This trip also provided an opportunity to bond with my family and create lasting memories.

In conclusion, my summer vacation was a blend of learning, relaxation, and social engagement. It was a period of self-discovery and personal growth. The activities I undertook not only provided a break from my routine but also enriched me with experiences that I will cherish forever. As I look forward to the next academic year, I feel rejuvenated and ready to face new challenges with the lessons learned during my summer vacation.

Tips for Writing a "What I Did on Vacation" Essay

Are you required to write an essay about your summer vacation or your holiday break? This can be a tough assignment to tackle at first glance. But if you think about it, there are lots of interesting things that happen on your vacation that others might enjoy reading about. The key to success is to zero in on the experiences, people, or situations that made your vacation unique.

Summer vacation can be busy or lazy, funny or serious. You may have traveled with your family, worked every day, fallen in love, or coped with a difficult situation. To start your essay, you'll need to choose a topic and tone.

Family Vacation Essay Topic Ideas

If you traveled with your family, you may have some great stories to tell. After all, every family is crazy in its own way. Want some proof? How many Hollywood films have themes about family holidays or trips? Those films are popular because they enable us to glimpse inside the crazy family lives of others. Alternatively, you may have a more serious story to tell.

Consider these funny topics:

  • Why I'll Never Go Back to (insert place name)
  • How (insert name) Drove Me Crazy in Five Days
  • Traveling to (insert city) Then and Now
  • The Hazards of Traveling With a (person or thing)
  • Why You Shouldn't Take a Dog to (insert place)
  • I Left (insert city) But My (lost item) Stayed
  • Why I Couldn't Sleep in (place name)

If your family vacation involved something more serious, think about one of these topics:

  • The Love I Left Behind in (insert place)
  • Saying Good-Bye to (insert person or place)
  • Exploring (place's) Secrets
  • An Emotional Trip

Summer Job Essay Topic Ideas

Not everyone gets to spend the summer having fun; some of us have to work for a living. If you spent your summer at a job, chances are you met a lot of interesting characters, dealt with complicated situations, or even saved the day once or twice. Here are some ideas for summer job topics:

  • The Boss's Day Off
  • The Customer From Hell
  • What I Learned from My Customers
  • Why I'll Never Go Into the ___ Business
  • Six Things I Learned on the Job

How to Write the Essay

Once you've chosen your topic and your tone, think about the story you want to tell. In most cases, your essay will follow a typical story arc:

  • The hook (the funny, sad, or scary sentence that grabs the reader's attention)
  • The rising action (the beginning of your story)
  • The climax (the most exciting moment in your story)
  • The denouement (the aftermath or ending to your story)

Start by writing out the basic outline of your story. For example, "I started cleaning a guest's room and found that they'd left behind a wallet with $100 in cash. When I turned it in without taking a single dollar for myself, my boss rewarded me with a $100 gift certificate and a special award for honesty."

Next, start fleshing out the details. What was the room like? What was the guest like? What did the wallet look like and where was it left? Were you tempted to just take the money and turn in the wallet empty? How did your boss look when you handed her the wallet? How did you feel when you got your reward? How did others around you react to your honesty?

Once you've told your story in all its detail, it's time to write the hook and conclusion. What question or thought can you use to grab your reader's attention? For example: "What would you do if you found a wallet loaded with cash? That was my dilemma this summer."

Pakistan is a country filled with warm people and deep traditions. My vacation to Pakistan allowed me to obtain a first-hand experience of the different aspects of its culture, such as the food, clothes, music, and historical places. During my vacation, I was able to visit all four province of Pakistan: Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). Even though all four provinces have their own history and unique culture, they all share a common humanity and tenderness for people and their land. The purpose of this paper is to offer a first-hand experience of the different cultures and traditions in each of the four Pakistan provinces.

The first province of Pakistan that I visited was Punjab. I was very especially excited because my mother and father both have a Punjabi background. The people in Punjab were especially warm and kind-hearted, and eager to share their customs with us. During my stay in Punjab, I had the opportunity to attend a beautiful and lavish wedding that lasted for 15 days. The wedding in Punjab was very different than most weddings in the United States. The actual marriage ceremony occurred on the first day. The next five days consisted of dancing, music, different competitions, and games. After that, there was a bridesmaid party, a bachelor party, a and a night out for the families of the bride and groom. To me, it was not like going to a wedding, but rather watching a beautiful fairy-tale movie.

During the rest of my stay in Punjab, I visited the city of Lahore. My family and I took the opportunity to really explore it. I was excited to visit the most famous Wagah border ceremony, or the “beating retreat ceremony.” The ceremony is a power-packed parade by Pakistani Rangers and takes place every evening before the sunset. In my opinion, the beating retreat ceremony is one the best experiences and is a “must-have” destination for foreigners and native Pakistanis.

After visiting Punjab, I traveled to the province of Sindh. The Sindhi culture is unique because it has roots in Indus valley civilization. While staying in Sindh, I attended a Sindhi musical concert hosted by one of the most famous Pakistani music legends Abida Parveen. Her voice was magic; the type of Sufi songs she sang sent peace to my soul. The Sindhi people were so kind-hearted and readily welcomed me into their lives. One example of their unique customs is the traditional and very expensive gift exchanging ceremony. The Sindhi people always give a traditional and expensive Sindhi shawl and hat to their guests or anyone who becomes attached to them. In addition, the Sindhi outfits are very different than in any other Pakistani provinces. Most of the Sindhi outfits are white and reddish color with traditional prints. Witnessing so many people in these unique and beautiful clothes make the Sindhi culture seem that much more peaceful and mesmerizing.

After visiting Sindhi, I traveled to the province of Baluchistan. At first I was struck by its vastness. Baluchistan is an area of barren lands, mountains, and desert. The Baloch culture is known for its traditional arts and crafts, festivals, and storytelling. The people of Baluchistan speak the Balochi language. The roots of the Balochi language are from the Iranian culture. During my stay in Baluchistan, I had a chance to visit Balochi fair. I was amazed at all of the vibrant colors; yet there was something soft and refreshing about the experience. People dressed very pleasingly in white loose salwar, or pants, and a long white knee-length shirt. Some men even wore beautiful turbans. Women wore knee-length shirts with intricate embroidery in the front. The embroidery consisted of embedded round mirror-work. Baluchi women had to wear a long dubbata, or scarf, to cover their hairs and shoulders. I was surprised to find that in Baluchistan, men and women ate separately. Men were served first, and then women were able to eat their food. Another difference was that in Balochi culture, men0 have more freedom of speech than women. Other than the inequality of men and women, the Balochi culture is very peaceful and colorful.

My last visit was to the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). The people of KPK are known for their hospitality and relaxed attitudes. During my stay in KPK, I visited their famous markets, which have a huge variety of goods at traditionally low prices. Even though I was only able to stay for two days in KPK, I found the visit to be very stress-relieving. The environment was peaceful and very clean. During my stay in KPK, I had a chance to drink the most famous tea of KPK, the Peshawari Kawa. The Peshawari Kawa is a traditional green tea, served in tiny cups with a small amount of saffron. KPK is very different than all the other provinces due to its serene atmosphere. I would have liked to have extended my stay in KPK. However, I but am glad that KPK was the last province that we visited, because it gave us a chance to recuperate for our long trip home.

Experiencing Pakistan was a chance not only for me to explore my family’s history, but to also better understand their culture. Even though there is some tension and conflict between the United States and the Middle East, experiencing Pakistan first-hand allowed me to appreciate its people as individuals. The Pakistani culture was warm and inviting, and each province had their own unique tradition. I feel blessed; because not only that I was able to better understand my heritage, but that I am now able to able to say with authority that people in Pakistan are not like the stereotype portrayed in the media. Pakistanis are warm and welcoming, and the fact that this blood flows through my veins fills me with a sense of pride.

Describe the best holiday you have had, describe the best holiday/vacation you have had..

  • where you went
  • what this place was like

and explain why it was the best holiday/vacation you have had. [You will have to talk about the topic for one to two minutes. You have one minute to think about what you're going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.]

Model Answer 1: My family went to Kuwait last summer to spend a vacation and I was with them during this wonderful vacation. It is one of the most memorable experiences for me so far. During this trip, we went to a beach named Messilah and enjoyed ourselves a lot. This is a great topic and I would like to thank you for the opportunity to let me talk about it. Kuwait is a beautiful country but I did not have the chance to visit it until last year. We stayed in a four-star hotel near Messilah beach which offered us a fabulous view. Messilah is one of the biggest and grandest beaches in the entire country and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The beach is filled with white sands where we often walked for an hour or two along the seashore to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The deep blue seawater was a beautiful sight to look at during the day time, and at night it reflected the moonlight -that made the place heavenly. Our experience was amazing, to say the least.

This was a great place to be with my family and I really liked the fact that everybody enjoyed being there. Besides, there was a swimming pool just for junior members who were unable to swim on the beach. During our visit to Kuwait, I mostly spent my time near the beach. In fact, my parents went to visit the city and did some shopping, but I avoided doing shopping by all means. I preferred to take part in different water sports and took some boat trips on the sea as well. I tried to dive under the sea but later discarded the idea as I was not an expert swimmer

Model Answer 2: This is a great topic to talk about, and thank you for it. Last summer, I probably had the best holiday of my life when I went to Tenerife in Spain with my family. I had the biggest splash of my life there. We stayed at Tenerife in Spain for two weeks and had lots of fun activities, including trying local foods, visiting different places, and enjoying night parties. I will remember these days for a long time. Moreover, the natural views were so charming that I had a hard time believing that they were real. Considering everything, this was the best holiday I have ever spent out of my country and I still feel lucky for that. Tenerife Island is the largest of the Canary Islands in Spain. It also has some special locations that are breathtakingly beautiful. The exotic beaches were the other attractive places that drag thousands of visitors each week. The high-end restaurants and their special dishes also play an important role to make it a favourite tourists spot. I did lots of things there. Spending an entire night on the beach was a special experience for me. I had the desire to participate in the Carnaval de Santa Cruz but missed that as the event was set to be held at a later date. Spending a night under the starry sky and listening to the sea waves thrilled me to the fullest extent possible. It was an out of the world experience for me. Walking through the boulevards, visiting the National Park, bating on the sea – all of them had been special to me. This was the best holiday experience for me so far as I did spend some of the best days of my life there. I enjoyed the beautiful natural sceneries, wondered about the vastness of the sea, ate exotic seafood and experienced a very unique European lifestyle that I was not accustomed to. This was an experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Idea generation for this Cue Card topic:

"Describe the best holiday/vacation you have had"  People go on to enjoy holidays to get away from the routined life, feel relaxed and get back refreshed. People travel to different parts of the world to have some of the wonderful holidays they dream about. Some other hints would be applicable in answering this particular cue card task. Here they go. 1. Travelling is my favourite hobby and a passion I cherish. Recently I went to Cape Sounion in Greece to enjoy my holidays. I heard about the place from a friend and I was captivated after visiting the place. The location was surrounded by seas on three sides. I enjoyed the sunset scenes to a great extent. It was the best holiday of my life so far. 2. My wife wanted to visit Nepal last year for the Christmas holidays. Accordingly, we went there and visited all the noted places including Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Temple, Poon Hill, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Pashupati Nath, 55 Window Palace, Kathmandu Durbar Square and more. This is the most memorable tour that we have ever taken since we enjoyed our days to the fullest. 3. Qatar offers some amazing destinations to its visitors. I went on a holiday in this beautiful country last year, and it was one of the best tours that I have had so far. I have visited some of the most notable places there and was deeply impressed with the enchantments of these places. The museums, food courts and beach walks were the greatest of them.

4. The old towns and resorts in Romania are highly recommended for American tourists. I never thought that I would enjoy a distant part of the world, especially an old town so much. Staying at a local resort was an unforgettable experience for me. I explored some of the most secluded parts of the country during this holiday. I must say loved this trip.

5. I am a passionate traveller and whenever I get a good chance, I set out for some trips. It was not an exception when my office allowed me a five-days leave last summer. I made a tour and went to different parts of India, and mostly it was a rail journey. Two of my friends accompanied me and we explored some notable places in India by train. It was a nice holiday indeed. 6. My last holiday in Las Vegas was excellent, in fact, one of the best. I did not know that this is a small resort town and it offered so much fun. Everything amazed me inside this city, and particularly I enjoyed the musical fountain. The star-rated hotels and restaurants gave their best service which I will remember for a long time. 7. As a student of archaeology, I was excited to get a chance to visit different archaeological sites in Egypt. I loved the large pyramids and other past relics. It was so amazing an experience that I will never forget this tour.

The Best Vacation We Ever Had Are you in the mood to relax, take in the sun, and have people cater to you? If so, you should take my advice and go on a cruise. My husband and I took a four-day, three-night cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Sovereign of the Seas five years ago and it was the best vacation we have ever had. Nothing else mattered but what was in that moment. Though getting to the ship took a lot of time, the cruise was a place to get away, have no worries, and feel like a king and queen. I packed, wondering if I had forgotten anything we would need and thought to myself, is it worth all this hassle? My husband and I planned to drive from Kannapolis, North Carolina, to Miami and stop in Daytona, Florida, for the night. I did not want to waste a moment of our vacation and the long drive that was ahead of us was not my idea of saving time. We arrived at Daytona that night, rented a room and went right to bed. The drive had exhausted both of us and all we could think about was a good night’s sleep and the hopes of a better, less exhausting day tomorrow. We got up the next morning around six a.m., ate breakfast, and got back on road toward our destination. Finally, we made it. There it was -- the biggest ship I had ever seen in my life. It was a city on water. We checked in and walked into the main lobby of the ship. When we entered, my husband and I looked at each other as if to say “Oh my god. Do we belong here? This is the classiest place I have ever seen.” A gentleman who reassured us we were in the correct place greeted us. He made us feel as if he would have spent all day with us just making sure we had everything we needed. We then went to our room and found chocolates on our pillows, a cute monkey made out of towels hanging from the ceiling, and a mini bar full of all the alcohol we could drink. We both knew that at this moment we were going to have a vacation of a lifetime. That evening we spent the rest of the day exploring the ship as if it...

Extract of sample "The Best Vacation I Ever Had"

I was so relieved when I finally heard my captain's announcement that the plane would be touching down at my designated country's Changi International Airport in a few minutes. The weather was fine on that Sunday morning when I finally arrived at my destination. I was so happy to be able to synchronize my watch and try to adapt to the local time. My biological clock took some time getting used to the current time zone I was in. I was in a high, exuberant mood and could not wait to get to my hotel.

I wanted to start sight-seeing straightaway because I was that excited. I cleared customs and immigration in just under half an hour. I looked around for the directional signs and located the taxi-stand where I took a cab to my hotel, the Raffles Hotel. I loved the city the minute I got into my short cab ride to my hotel. It was bustling with life. There were hundreds and thousands of people everywhere. It looked as though the whole city was like a giant hive teeming with people. People just poured out from buildings and they were on the move all the time.

I got an eyeful of what the city was like before I arrived at my hotel. I had my currency converted back home in L.A. so I counted out the correct amount and got back my change. I was glad I did not have to pay a tip to the driver. The Raffles Hotel was totally grand. . He looked magnificent in his livery. The front desk's reception staff were very polite, courteous and helpful. I got settled into my hotel room in a few minutes. I hit the shower and was so glad to have my first real shower about twenty-fours after my last one in my own home.

I changed into fresh clothing and packed a daytime carry bag with my personal essential valuables and camera. I was ready to go for my first day tour of Singapore. I enquired at the information desk on the best tourist location to visit. I was told to see Sentosa. It was an island resort with all the beautiful tourist spots to entertain, educate and engage any visitor. As I was not hungry for breakfast, I opted to get aboard the island of Sentosa and have my late breakfast there. I boarded the hotel's bus to get to the cable car station.

There was an orderly queue to buy tickets for the cable car. I bought my ticket and had the luxury of having the entire cable car to myself for the duration of the ride. It was beautiful up there, being suspended in a moving cable car and transported driverless along a long wire. I looked down and saw that the transportation on the roads were as small as ants. I was lucky to have no fear of vertigo. The scenery was breathtaking. I took pictures through the glass window. My cable car was pulled along soundlessly over the sea.

I looked down and saw all sizes of sea transport cruising through the waterways. It was like traveling in a low flying aircraft. Pretty soon, my cable car ride came to an end. I had reached the long end of the electric cable line. The first person who greeted me when I stepped out of my vehicle was a photographer. He was touting snaps against an enlarged scenery photograph backdrop. I thought it was expensive at USD 15 per shot so

Pictures of volcanoes, oceans, Islands were taken. Each of them represents an amazing vacation that I had. However, none of them can be compared to the "Winter vacation, the one to Alaska by cruise. This trip left me a fantastic memory. I favor the vacation to Alaska. We had a chance to watch the whales in the ocean. I had desired to watch the whales in Juneau. I was so excited that I almost dropped my telescope into the deep, blue water. I could see a whale flipping in the water.

It plashed the waves with its huge, flat tail and dived into the water. The captain drove the boat closer to the whales. One of them Jumped out in a curved position. As it dived into the water, its tails waved back and forth. Water was splashed out on the top of a blue whale's head. Looking there from the telescope, it looked like a fountain. This trip was extra-entertaining because I went dog sledding with the huskies. I remember the cold day when snow was falling from the sky, piling up on the ground. My parents and I went to a snow-covered mountain at Skagway. We went there by helicopter. The dog-sledding part was so entertaining.

At first I held on to the handles steadily, but soon I became bored. I stuck my feet into the snow. I didn't notice it when the musher speeded up the sled. I fell on my belly. I held on to the handles with my hand and screamed. It was an enjoyable experience even though I got myself totally wet. Another beauty of this trip is that I went to Alaska by cruise. Sometimes on a vacation, I would want to sit back and rest. The cruise provided dfferent shows and exercises for us. Basically every night I went to watch a show or a concert. There was a pool on the 12th deck. I could go swimming any time I wanted to.
