ACE TEST VERSIONS

If you're uncertain about which ACE test to choose, ACE offers nine versions, consisting of high-precision tests and standard-precision tests. Here's an overview of the different test versions and their content.

ACE General Problem Solving (High Precision)

Our extensive general test covers all three question areas and takes a maximum of 75 minutes to complete. There are eight questions for each area, totaling 24 questions.

ACE General Problem Solving (Standard Precision)

Our brief general test includes all three question areas and takes a maximum of 30 minutes to complete. There are four questions for each area, totaling 12 questions. The test does not include matrix questions in the verbal section, resulting in a shortened time compared to the number of questions.

Other Three High Precision Tests

These high-precision tests share the characteristic of taking a maximum of 75 minutes to complete. The three different special tests include two question areas with up to 28 questions, adjusted based on the time and nature of the questions.

Other Three Standard Precision Tests

These standard-precision tests share the characteristic of taking a maximum of 30 minutes to complete. The three different special tests include two question areas with up to 14 questions, adjusted based on the time and nature of the questions.

Spatial Version for Dyslexics

The purely spatial test, suitable for individuals with dyslexia, has a maximum time set at 45 minutes for 22 questions.

Choosing the Right Test

How do you decide which test to choose? First and foremost, there is a reason to test how complex the role is, ideally through our digital job analysis that indicates the expected result to handle the role's complexity. If the minimum value is low, it may be worth considering if the test is valuable enough to use in the recruitment process.

Other questions to answer are how much experience the candidate has, how crucial ACE information is, where in the process you choose to use ACE, and what position the candidate has applied for. The candidate's previous experiences can guide you in choosing the right test.

Our high-precision tests are, of course, the very best tests and provide a true measure of G. Our standard-precision tests offer an indication of G. Note that you should not place too much emphasis on the subscales if you use the shorter tests; they have insufficient reliability individually. The total, indicated as Logical Analytical Ability, is where you should make an assessment.

Choosing to test candidates in the later stages of a recruitment process, the shorter test may suffice if you have a lot of other information available, and you choose not to see the result as decisive. If testing early in the process (e.g., screening), you want to ensure that the decision-making foundation has high reliability, and you typically choose a high-precision test. You also have the option to remove a subscale in the individual test for a more suitable match with the specific position.

Our recommendation is always to choose to test candidates as early as possible if logical ability is crucial since low results for candidates noted late in the process can be problematic for all parties involved.

Want to become an ACE-certified personal trainer?

Flashcard studying most effectively helps you learn big sets of terms and new topics in short bursts or even longer sessions.

Since ACE does not offer any flashcard study materials in its training programs, I recommend using PTPioneer’s ACE flashcards and seeking out a program that uses spaced repetition learning, such as Trainer Academy.

Ideally, flashcards should be studied daily for a regular set amount of time, such as 15 – 30 minutes.

Write down the ones that you might struggle with and study them extra, and study these flashcards after reading the chapter in the ACE study guide or the ACE personal trainer manual.

I believe the best way to break down the flashcards is in a per-chapter format.

At the top of the page, you will find a flashcard plugin for each of the 16 chapters within the ACE certification textbook for personal training.

The chapter plugins combine the most important terms and topics from the ACE personal trainer manual in a flashcard study format.

Implementing Flashcards

Frequently implementing flashcard studying into your routine is one of the easiest ways to create lasting, positive study habits and information fresh in your mind over the long term.

Moreover, flashcards present a word or words and allow you to think of the answer or think of associative words, definitions, or topics to reach the answer or definition.

For example, while studying for your cert exam, you are baffled by the differences between concentric and eccentric, plantarflexion vs. dorsiflexion, bodyweight and cardio recommendations for clients with heart disease, or agonists vs. antagonist muscle groups.

Not only are flashcards extremely beneficial in studying all types of materials, but they are paired well with the ACE practice exam and study guide.

ACE - upplägg

ACE general problem solving, eller generell problemlösning på svenska genomförs i rekryteringen till flera olika företag, t.ex. OKQ8 . Testet tas online och har olika versioner. De två versionerna som vi representerar är den kortare versionen (standard precision) som  består av 12 frågor som du har 30 minuter på dig att svara på och ett längre test (high precision) som består av 24 frågor som du har 75 minuter på dig att svara på. Frågorna är i slumpmässig ordning och är alltså inte uppdelade per kategori.

Det finns ingen enskild tidsgräns per fråga men du behöver vara ordentligt förberedd på alla delmoment eftersom testet trots allt har en tidsgräns och och testet är adaptivt, vilket i det här fallet betyder att svårighetsnivån ökar , något vi har försökt efterlikna med våra simulerade test. ACE generell problemlösning - Spatial kunskap

Den spatiala delen av ACE-testet från Master består av matriser där den nionde bilden saknas. Ditt jobb är att lista ut vad reglerna är och med hjälp av den kunskapen välja den rätta bilden som fulländar matrisen. Mönstrena liknar i stort andra matristest, t.ex. Alva Labs Logiktest . In each figure there is a white heart, a white star, or a black star, moving inside the petals of the flower. We can see that the pattern is as follows:

Looking at the rows from left to right, each shape is governed by a different pattern. In other words, the pattern is   complex motion : in each step the heart moves one petal in a   clockwise motion   pattern, while the star moves in a   back-and-forth motion   pattern (can also be seen as a   180° rotation pattern ). If both shapes end up in the same petal because of the pattern above, a   complex construction pattern   applies: the star changes its color to black and the heart “disappears”.

Looking at the columns, from top to bottom, the pattern is   complex motion   as well: here, the star moves one section in each step in a   clockwise motion   pattern, while the heart moves in a   back-and- forth motion   pattern (can also be seen as a 180° rotation pattern). If both shapes end up in the same petal because of the pattern above, a   complex construction pattern   applies: the star changes its color to black and the heart “disappears”.

To find the correct answer let’s look at the third row, from left to right: the star moves back and forth between the top and bottom petals. The heart starts in the top-left petal in the first figure, and then moves one step clockwise to the top petal on the second figure. The black star on the top petal in the second figure indicates that both shapes are in the same place. According to the pattern mentioned above, in the next figure the star should move back to the bottom petal. The heart should move one step clockwise and land on the top-right petal.

Answer (1) matches this description, and is therefore is the right answer.

Pro-Tip: since time constraints are something to be considered in this test, we can use the process of elimination to find the right answer more quickly. A brief look at the columns reveals that the stars move in a clockwise direction. Even before considering the color of the shapes, this leaves us with answers (1) and (4). In each column, the hearts “jump” between appearing in the same place and appearing 180 ° from each other. Therefore, answer (1) is correct.

ACE generell problemlösning - Logik

If John is not first in line, Lumina is standing somewhere in front of him. Ian is standing immediately in front of or immediately behind Kilgore. If Georgia is standing first and Fiona is somewhere between John and Lumina, then which one of the following could be false?

The correct answer is answer alternative 5. We need to find the answer choice that   could be false . This means that four out of the five answers   must be true . Each answer choice suggests a certain placement for one of the people in line. We can look for the answer that lists only some of the possibilities for a certain person, based on the information above. Alternatively, we can eliminate answer choices that are definitely true. Let's see what we can learn from the information provided. first                                                                  last

Since Georgia is 1st, John is not 1st, which means that Lumina is standing somewhere in front of him. We are also told that Fiona is somewhere between them. Now, since Ian (and Kilgore) must be standing behind Fiona, and since Heather is behind John (who is also behind Fiona), it follows that four people must be standing behind Fiona. The only way this could work is if Fiona is 3rd, which would make Lumina 2nd: first                                                                  last

Answer choices A and B must be true, and are therefore eliminated. The remaining plausible setups are: first                                                                  last

Since Kilgore can be in any of the remaining four places, and not just the 5th or 6th, answer choice E is the correct answer (as it suggests something that does not have to be true). Notice that we can also eliminate answer choice D: Since Ian and Kilgore must be standing together, and since Heather must be behind John, John has to be either 4th or 6th. If he were 5th, and Heather was somewhere behind him, Ian and Kilgore could not be together. If he were last, Heather could not be behind him.

ACE generell problemlösning - Numeriska ordproblem

Ytterligare en kategori som kommer i frågemixen i ACE-testet från Master är numeriska ordproblem. Frågeställningen är i en kort text med en fråga och du får olika svarsalternativ, av vilka endast ett är korrekt. För att kunna lösa de numeriska problemen behöver du inte vara matematiker, men du bör behärska de fyra räknesätten (addition, subtraktion, multiplikation och division) och tänka logiskt. Vi visar här ett gratis exempel på den typ av numeriska ordproblem som finns i vårt simulerade ACE övningstest.

It took Sarah six minutes to drive to the post office, eight minutes to find parking and five minutes to choose stationery; she then waited on line for seventeen minutes.

How many minutes passed from the time Sarah left her house until she completed her errand at the post office?

If we add up all of the time that it took Sarah from the time she left her house until she completed her errand, we will find that 6+8+5+17 = 36.

ACE generell problemlösning - Verbala analogier

En analogi är en liknelse mellan saker som har samma relation till varandra, t.ex. två ordpar där relationen mellan det första ordparet matchar relationen mellan det andra ordparet. Du kan se ett exempel nedan för att du ska förstå vad vi menar bättre. Denna del av testet undersöker din språkliga förmåga och din förmåga att koppla ihop saker med varandra för att se vad som hör ihop. Som med resten av testet är det adaptivt och ökar i svårighetsgrad, så därför är vissa verbala analogier svårare än andra.

Blush is a bodily expression of embarrassment just as perspire is a bodily expression of fear.

Hvad måler ACE?

ACE er en test af logisk analytisk ræsonnement. Det er en kompetence, der har stor betydning for, hvor gode vi er til at tilegne os nye færdigheder og viden. Der er en tæt sammenhæng mellem en medarbejders kognitive potentiale og fremtidig arbejdsmæssig succes.

ACE vurderer kompetencen til logisk analytisk ræsonnement – ​​kompetencen til at identificere mønstre og komplekse relationer i information, til at drage konklusioner og til at drive resultater. ACE måler på de tre kognitive domæner: numerisk, spatial og verbal.

ACE er bygget på Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT) teknologi. Det betyder, at ACE måler en persons maksimale kognitive potentiale ved automatisk at justere sværhedsgraden af ​​sine spørgsmål til testtagerens kognitive niveau.

The Moscow Mathematical Journal is published by the Independent University of Moscow and the department of mathematics of the Higher School of Economics .

Journal Overview. The Moscow Mathematical Journal (MMJ) is an international quarterly published (paper and electronic) by the Independent University of Moscow and the department of mathematics of the Higher School of Economics, and distributed by the American Mathematical Society. MMJ presents highest quality research and research-expository papers in mathematics from all over the world. Its purpose is to bring together different branches of our science and to achieve the broadest possible outlook on mathematics, characteristic of the Moscow mathematical school in general and of the Independent University of Moscow in particular.

An important specific trait of the journal is that it especially encourages research-expository papers, which must contain new important results and include detailed introductions, placing the achievements in the context of other studies and explaining the motivation behind the research. The aim is to make the articles — at least the formulation of the main results and their significance — understandable to a wide mathematical audience rather than to a narrow class of specialists.
