15 best puzzle games for Android

Published on February 5, 2024

The Room Old Sins best puzzle games android

Puzzle games used to be a simple genre with a simple idea. You solve puzzles for time-killing enjoyment. However, the genre ballooned in a big way on mobile. It’s one of the most popular genres on the entire platform. It started with simple viral games like 2048 and evolved into genuinely enjoyable experiences like Monument Valley.

These days, you can find some seriously good puzzle games on Android in terms of both graphics and gameplay. Gone are the days of super simple mechanics and graphics with goofy ideas, with intense and complex apps with creative stories and good graphics. This list changes fast as new puzzle champions emerge. Here are the best puzzle games for Android.

We’d like to give an honorable mention to Bridge Constructor Portal ( Google Play ). It hasn’t been updated since 2021, but it’s still one of the best puzzle games.

The best puzzle games for Android

Baba is you, the eyes of ara, linia super, machinarium, monument valley 1 and 2, one hand clapping, papers, please, the past within.

  • The Room: Old Sins

Slayaway Camp: Free 2 Slay

Price: $6.99

Baba Is You screenshot

Baba Is You is one of the more interesting puzzle games on Android. The graphics aren’t all that special, but its low-fi style helps the developers do all sorts of wonky things. The game lets you change the rules of the game itself by moving around programming blocks. You use these programming blocks to change the rules in such a way that you solve the puzzle. Each change has interactions with the other changes to create all kinds of unexpected reactions.

It’s truly one of the most unique puzzle games, right up there with ones like Monument Valley. This should be more popular than it is.

Price: $4.99

The Eyes of Ara is one of the newer puzzle games on the list. It reminds us a lot of classic puzzle-adventure games like Myst. Players explore a world looking for clues, unlocking secrets, and gathering the story from snippets found in the game world. It plays in a 3D world with exploration and surprisingly decent graphics. The developers round out the experience with achievements, support for about a dozen languages, and a minimal game UI that puts the game world first and foremost. There isn’t a whole lot wrong with this one, but the controls are occasionally wonky.

Price: $5.99

Hitman GO is a puzzle game where you plan assassinations. It’s a turn-based game. You select your move and the NPCs take theirs. You use their movements against them as you infiltrate the area and take out your targets. The goal is to take them out without arousing any suspicion. The diorama-style graphics work well here, and there are multiple ways to solve many of the puzzles. You also get things like disguises to get past guards. We like this one because it’s a premium game, it feels good to play, and the difficulty scaling is pretty good.

Price: $1.99

Linelight is a puzzle game where you navigate a level to its end while avoiding the other colored lights. The game boasts over 200 puzzles across six worlds. The graphics won’t win any awards, but we think the game still looks nice. The only control is movement so you move along the lines, avoid the other lights, and make your way through each level. There is a storyline to play through as well, although it is a little basic. Despite its Google Play description, you do need to time your movements well, and it’s not all that relaxing of an experience. It’s cheap, the puzzles are fun, and there are no in-app purchases to get in the way.

The same developer also made Lara Croft GO ( Google Play ), a similar diorama-style puzzler to Tomb Raider’s protagonist.

Price: Free

Linia Super is another minimal puzzle game, and this one is the second game in the Linia franchise. It boasts over 200 levels with varying levels of difficulty. The game itself is pretty simple. You use rhythm and timing to draw lines and hit the various shapes that the game tells you to hit. You can play any chapter at your leisure, so there’s non-linear progression. It’s another free-to-play game with plenty of levels and good puzzle mechanics.

Price: Free demo / $1.99

Machinarium is one of the classic mobile puzzle games. You play the role of Josef, a robot trying to save his girlfriend from a gang of bad robots. You traverse the game world, solve puzzles, and progress the story until you reach the end. We like this game. The graphics fit well with the atmosphere, and the puzzles are abstract enough to feel fun, although you may need to look at the hint book more often than you’d like. The game also features achievements and cloud saves. It’s not the longest game on the list, but it’s worth its price tag. The developer, Amanita Design, has some other good puzzle games on Android as well.

Price: $3.99 each

Monument Valley 1 and 2 are some of the most popular puzzle games on mobile. They use MC Escher-inspired puzzle mechanics. You twist and turn portions of the level to progress. The games aren’t difficult. They boast a more relaxing experience rather than a challenging one. The Monument Valley games do look fantastic, though. The art style is definitely to be applauded. The first game includes a handful of levels along with the Forgotten Shores DLC ($1.99 extra). The second game is a bit longer but not by much. These are classics.

Price: $9.99

One Hand Clapping is one of the more unique puzzle games on this list. It’s a puzzle platformer where you jump around and progress the game as usual. However, the main mechanic when solving puzzles is your voice. You sing into the game to do things like build bridges, raise platforms, and do other things. We’re suckers for unique game mechanics like this. The game also features controller support for the platformer portion of the game. It’s cutesy, and it’s fun to play since you’re using your voice as well as your fingers to solve puzzles. We think the game is a tad expensive for what you get, and that’s probably our only real gripe with it.

Papers, Please is a simulation-puzzle game. You play the role of an immigration officer and your role is to check the passports of the incoming flow of people from Kolechia into Arstotzkan. You’ll need to check each passport for factual accuracy and deny those with fraudulent passports. You earn money for your family for each person you let through, but if you let the wrong person through, bad things happen and it’s your fault. The game is a little stressful at times but in a satisfying way. You’ll need to pay attention and memorize a few things to do well. This was out on PC a long time ago, but the Android version officially launched in 2022.

Price: $2.99

The Past Within is a cooperative multiplayer puzzle game. One person plays in the future and the other in the past. You use clues from each other’s eras to solve puzzles. Both players experience their side of the game uniquely, so there is some replay value if you want to play the past and also the future. It’s also cross-platform with PC, Mac, iOS, and eventually, the Nintendo Switch as well. The game is rather short at only about two or three hours. However, you do have to play the game twice to see everything, so four to six hours overall. It’s entertaining, and one of the few good cooperative puzzle games on Android.

Price: Free

Quadline is our third minimal-style puzzle game on this list. Players move the environment around until the desired effect is achieved. For instance, one side of a box may have a thicker line. Your goal is to move that thicker line somewhere where it achieves some sort of symmetry. The earlier levels are pretty simple, but these puzzles get pretty complicated later. The game boasts over 175 levels, no timers, a dark mode, a colorblind mode, and more. There also isn’t any text so some controls you’ll need to figure out on your own.

The Room series

Price: $0.99 / $1.99 / $3.99 / $4.99

The Room franchise is one of the oldest and most successful puzzle game franchises on mobile. There are four games in the series at the time of this writing. The first two are classic puzzle games. You figure out puzzles to progress until you finish the game. The third game in the series introduced multiple endings and a slightly heavier narrative. Finally, the most recent game, New Sins, takes place in a dollhouse.

All four games have some similar elements, including outstanding graphics, escape room elements, and clever puzzle designs. They are also fairly short games. However, the inclusion of multiple endings gives the later titles some replay value. These are classics in the puzzle game space on mobile and are must-plays for puzzle fans. The games range from $0.99 to $4.99 each. They also don’t need to be played in sequential order, so you can pick which one you want.

Slayaway Camp: Free 2 Slay is a horror puzzle game. You play the role of SkullFace, a slasher movie villain, who is intent on slaughtering everyone in his path. That’s basically what you do. You progress through levels by slaying everybody. The simple, blocky graphics take a lot of the intensity out of the violence, but even so, this isn’t a game we recommend for kids. There are also some extras like a mini-game, multiple killers to unlock, and more.

Price: Free / $2.49

Vodobanka Pro screenshot

Vodobanka is one of the more unique puzzle games on Android. The player takes control of a SWAT team. The goal is to breach a structure and get the hostile people before they execute the hostages. It has a bunch of levels, including some added as recently as 2021. It doesn’t have the best graphics, but the concept is pretty neat as players clear rooms on their way to the objective. The premium version is also inexpensive with most of the content being available in the free version.

Price: $0.99

Zenge is a relaxing puzzle game with simple graphics, but good mechanics. Your goal is to complete each puzzle, most of which are geometric. The completed puzzles tell a story that you progress the game to see. The developers wanted this to be a relaxing experience. Thus, players experience no stars, tutorials, energy counters, or anything like that. You just pop in, play the game, and stop when you’re done. It’s certainly not the longest game, but it’s still pretty good.

Destress with these mobile puzzlers

Creating a quality puzzle app is not easy, even for the best of the best on the Play Store . Balancing gameplay elegance, intricacy, and satisfaction while adhering to a reasonable difficulty curve is a task only the top puzzle games can achieve. The key is to reward players for their deductive reasoning skills rather than demanding snap decisions, incentivizing some deeper thought and caution before proceeding. Build it around an entertaining gameplay loop with a sweet artstyle, and you’ve got a great puzzle game, ready for the best budget Android phones. From calming apps like Mekorama to addictive “just one more go” experiences like Melon Maker, Puzzle apps are primed and ready to keep you guessing.

It's no secret that puzzle games are a little over-represented on the Play Store, with slews of imitators riding the slipstream of market leaders, so we're here to highlight the best of the best. This genre of apps is a little oversaturated on the Play Store, given its flexibility in terms of setting and artstyle, so we’d like to share our favorites in this roundup of the best puzzle games that stand out. You can put your new high-performance gaming phone away for these apps, but don't forget your thinking cap.

1 Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon

Netflix Games has published Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon on the Play Store, bringing the popular puzzle roguelike to Android. While this game does differ from the original platformer, the puzzle-based gameplay is superb, offering falling block gameplay any Tetris fan should recognize. The mechanics are simple enough to understand while remaining challenging to master, which is why the gameplay loop is so addictive, all without pesky monetization to ruin the experience.

You will need a Netflix account to play, but beyond that, this is a premium release that stacks up to its console and PC counterparts.

2 Baba Is You

Baba Is You takes a traditional Sokoban puzzle game and turns it on its head through the use of cryptic words. You'll unlock specific abilities and areas by pushing certain words together, which is ultimately how you solve each puzzle. Still, these solutions aren't easy, as this is an incredibly challenging game, but the solution is the reward, and it feels great once you finally get past a puzzle that was previously stumping you.

Baba Is You may be a short game clocking in at 7 hours to beat , but it's one of the best puzzle games on the platform, which is why it's a great title to start with for today's puzzle game roundup.

3 Path of Giants

A slick puzzle game where you'll control three characters, each offering unique skills to see you progress through each stage. As you can guess, you'll use these characters to solve each stage's puzzle, with the challenge growing with each solved stage. The graphics are excellent, the gameplay is enjoyable, and it's easily played in bite-size sessions to ensure this is a title best played in your downtime.

Best of all, what you see is what you get, as this is a premium release, so you're free to enjoy the game in its entirety once you pay $4. Not bad, not bad at all.

4 Golf Peaks

Golf Peaks is styled as a miniature golf game, but it's actually a puzzle game (which is why it's on today's list). There are more than 120 levels to explore, spread across ten worlds. Cards are used for movement as you decipher which cards will get your ball into the hole, making for a logic puzzler you will have to spend time thinking about, but that's where the fun is to be found, illustrating why this game is so appealing. It's designed well and offers tons of fun. What's not to like?

Sliding tile puzzle games may have a reputation for being simple, but Gorogoa is anything but. Sure, you'll slide some tiles around, as that is part of the core gameplay, but thanks to some striking art and abstract puzzle solutions, this game goes way beyond moving a few tiles. Imagine if Salvador Dalí created a video game, and you're getting close to the abstract play within this release. While the game is only two hours long , it's a heck of a ride that shouldn't be missed.

PUSH is a fun minimal puzzle game where your single objective is to push a bunch of buttons in the correct order. What is great about this setup is that there are no timers and no tutorials. Heck, there aren't even any boss fights. This game is solely focused on gameplay and gameplay alone. Essentially, what you see is what you get, and what you get is a competent puzzle game that offers a stress-free experience.

7 Hidden Through Time

Hidden Through Time is a stunning hidden object game that offers wonderful art, cute animations, and enjoyable gameplay. Mostly you'll spend your time deciphering clues to find all the hidden objects in each level, and each stage is pleasantly animated, making it easy to gaze at the screen for hours as you hunt down every last hidden object. If you enjoy titles like Hidden Folks but are looking for a splash of color to brighten the experience, then you'll love Hidden Through Time.

8 G30 - A Memory Maze

G30 - A Memory Maze is a minimal puzzle game that offers a unique story about a person suffering from a cognitive disorder. It will be your job to piece together their memory by solving two-part puzzles of scattered text and random images. You'll spend most of your time rotating these images to form larger pictures. The secondary puzzle element comes into play as you cycle these pics through words displayed at the top of the screen.

These words ultimately tell a story, but you'll first have to solve each puzzle before you can piece together the entirety of the tale.

9 Hidden Folks

Hidden Folks is a stylish hidden object game that's a joy to look at and play. The art is hand-drawn and consists of black-and-white pen and ink designs. Players are tasked with finding a particular person hidden in each drawing, much like a Where's Waldo book. This is easier said than done since you'll have to peel back and move objects in each environment to hunt down these hidden people.

Unlike many of the hidden objects on the Play Store, Hidden Folks offers a highly interactive experience, which has a lot to do with the wonderfully engaging art style.

Hocus is an indie puzzle game that exudes a minimal style. It will be your job to navigate a cube through a series of optical illusions. There are 120 hand-crafted levels to explore, and if you get tired of these levels, you can jump into the optional level builder to design your own. What's great about this system is that you can share these homemade levels through a code or card, which means you can jump into levels created by other players if you wish.

Blue is a popular release in the color-themed puzzle game series from Bart Bonte . The game's goal is to change the color in all the title's fifty stages to blue. If you get stuck, hints are available, though ads will play unless you pay to remove them through an in-app purchase. Trial and error is the key to victory, especially if you plan to complete all 50 levels.

12 Shadowmatic

Shadowmatic took its sweet time coming to Android, but the game is so pretty we can forgive the late arrival. The game's setup is extremely simple. All you do is spin and tilt one or more of the game's 3D objects to form a shadow that displays the puzzle's desired shape. Things grow more complex when multiple objects are in play. The beautiful 3D graphics create a relaxed atmosphere perfect for short or lengthy gaming sessions, though you'll need some beefy hardware to run this title.

13 I Love Hue Too

I Love Hue Too is a psychedelic puzzler where harmony, geometry, perception, skill, and magic intersect to create an enthralling puzzle game. Puzzles are solved by shuffling tiles to create harmony with the colors provided. There are more than 900 puzzles to unravel within this release and multiple play modes, which should keep players busy for a long while. Oh, and the game contains six ambient tracks that help set the mood for this trippy puzzler.

14 Bridge Constructor Portal

The Bridge Constructor series from Headup has seen a few releases on mobile, sporting all kinds of themes, combining gameplay elements from these themes with classic bridge construction gameplay. The most popular title to combine interesting elements is Bridge Constructor Portal. It offers familiar Portal gameplay crossed with bridge-building action, resulting in a good time solving all portal-laced puzzles.

This is a premium release you can snag for $5, and there's extra DLC once you beat the main game that you can pick up for $2. Seeing that the main campaign is 13 hours long and that the DLC adds even more content, you'll have plenty of puzzles to solve for a small investment.

15 Railbound

From the same creator as Golf Peaks, Railbound is a puzzler where you'll lay down train tracks to solve the game's level-based challenges. There are more than 200 puzzles to solve, all revolving around trains and track laying, with adorable graphics attached and a couple of cute pups to boot. So if you're a fan of Golf Peaks and want to see what's new from the same creator, Railbound is the obvious choice, and best of all, it's just as great as its older brother.

16 Mekorama

Mekorama draws inspiration from similar isometric puzzle platformers, such as Monument Valley, but that's an easy thing to forgive when the games you imitate are solid to start with. Much like the titles that inspired this release, you can expect tons of humor and personality, and the developer has implemented a user-friendly way to pay what you want for the full game unlock, which is a nice touch.

17 Lost Words: Beyond the Page

If you're big into platformers, but enjoy them most when they offer puzzle mechanics, then Lost Words: Beyond the Page should be right up your alley. This is a chill game where you'll literally use the letters in words as platforms to traverse each stage. These words, of course, tell an evolving story, which is entertaining enough, but it's the puzzle-based platforming where the game really shines.

Taking a page out of Baba is You's book, you'll have to think creatively about how words can be used to solve the game's 2D puzzles, all at your own pace.

18 Linelight

Linelight is an atmospheric puzzle game centered around navigating threads of light to complete puzzle challenges; with a celestial theme that immerses you in the experience. Gameplay-wise, Linelight gets really creative with the kinds of puzzles it offers; particularly the ones themed around only moving when the player is moving. Linelight focuses on its gameplay, with over 200 puzzles to solve, but its presentation is also very absorbing, from the silky movements to the beautiful music.

19 Melon Maker: Fruit Game

Melon Maker has been making waves for a while due to its curiously magnetic appeal, presenting an interesting blend of match-3 and Tetris mechanics. The gameplay boils down to dropping fruit into a transparent box, and combining fruits of the same color to keep the pile from overflowing. The difficulty curves smoothly as the fruits get bigger the longer you play and the circular nature of the fruits makes stacking difficult. Its cute artstyle, satisfying gameplay, and insane replayability create an experience that's just impossible to put down.

If you’re looking for your next big app addiction à la Vampire Survivors , check out Melon Maker.

Top 25 best puzzle games for Android phones and tablets in 2024

Top 25 best puzzle games for Android phones and tablets in 2024

Sharpening your mind is desirable even in the later stages of our lives. Here are some Android puzzle games that will keep your grey matter involved.

Updated by Ivan Spasojevic on April 23, 2024  -    added trailers for each title, edited the rest a bit What would you say is the quintessential mobile genre? For us, it's got to be the puzzlers. Therefore we decided to make you the list of the best puzzle games for Android that will wake those sleeping synapses.

No other genre fits your phone better. Your typical title in the said genre is simple to look at, uncomplicated to play, flexible with its time commitment, and yet capable of holding your attention for the long haul.

Suffice it to say, you can scarcely move for good puzzler games on the Google Play Store.

Don't let that fool you though - the genre is as open to innovation and variety as any other. Yes, there are loads of match-three-block shufflers out there (which we love). But there are also some left-field delights, as well as a fair few critical darlings.

Exceptional puzzle games to play on the go

What you can do is share your own favourites in the comments section below.

1 Monument Valley 2

Monument Valley 2

Like the original, Monument Valley warps reality and assaults your eyes with otherworldly landscapes. Rarely has a runaway mainstream hit felt so daringly experimental. The visually stunning gameplay comes together perfectly with the story, which is as good as you might expect it to be, if not better!

I think everyone will agree that it deserves a leading position on the list of best puzzle games for Android. Here is a complete Monument Valley 2 review if you'd like to know more before you buy it!

A rare masterpiece, Gorogoa combines a clever picture-shifting mechanic with a beautiful storybook art style. The hand-drawn illustrations will almost make you forget that it's an actual puzzler (and a pretty complex one at that). It's quite wonderful.

If you thought that a gorgeous puzzle game for Android could only be played a certain way, Gorogoa is here to teach you otherwise. Yes, it is a premium, but the price is well worth its value. You will end up replaying it quite a few times once you get the hang of it.

Titles in this niche used to be functional looking and targeted at the logic centres rather than seeking any kind of emotional response. Prune turns all that on its head with its achingly beautiful grown-'em-up gameplay.

Prune's graphics beautifully twist and turn the realm of outstanding puzzle games for Android, elevating what could once be called a "simple" game to a whole new level. Levels that are not overly complex (but extremely satisfying to beat) and a design that pleases the eye make Prune a must-play.

yt

Did you ever picture yourself playing an AR game? Projekt is one such title that will leave you in awe - it might even be one of the most excellent puzzle games for Android phones that we've played lately!

Projekt features clever mind-bending problems that require the player to look at things from a different perspective. Literally. You can check it out both on your device, or in augmented reality mode if your phone can support it. It's truly something else.

5 The Room: Old Sins

The Room: Old Sins

Even four entries in, the intricate locked-box puzzles within the perplexities of The Room series continue to enthral. When it's as perfectly executed as The Room: Old Sins, we could happily take several more. It's certainly one of our favourite puzzle games for Android.

The realistic graphics that we've seen in previous The Room titles seems even better now, and the details of each element are simply astonishing. If you've never tried any of the titles, worry not. You can still play The Room: Old Sins and enjoy a truly unique puzzle experience on your mobile. Better yet, try it on a tablet! The bigger the screen, the better. If you are interested, read the complete review of The Room: Old Sins !

6 Ticket to Earth

Ticket to Earth

It's not often that you find a puzzler with a rollicking story, but that's precisely what Ticket to Earth provides. At heart, it's a block-matching title, but one that adds compelling RPG elements and glorious comic book visuals.

Where the Ticket to Earth really stands out, however, is the narrative behind everything. If you want more than just a plain old Android puzzle game, you can delve into the mystery, thrill and adventure that is Ticket to Earth. It'll be worth the ride!

7 Linelight

Linelight

An extremely challenging abstract puzzler that keeps drawing you back in. Mixing and matching beautiful minimalistic lines is a mind-bending delight. Each level feels like a beautiful piece of art, and once you've started, it will be difficult to stop.

The relaxing atmosphere you're met with the moment you start Linelight is spot-on, and each level feels more enchanting than the last. It wouldn't be wrong to say that Linelight is one of the finest puzzle games for Android tablets when it comes to minimalistic titles.

yt

Portal is a famous game on PC, and it recently became available on Android and became one of the best Android puzzle games! The game is a hybrid of FPS and puzzles.

The game requires you to solve more and more difficult puzzles each time, opening portals, manoeuvring among different objects, and moving in unusual ways. So, before you get to the finish of the level, you will have to run over the level tens of times to find the solution.

9 Layton's Mystery Journey

Layton's Mystery Journey

The first in the prestigious Layton series to be made for mobile, as well as handheld, Layton's Mystery Journey is packed full of classic brain teasers and beautifully animated story snippets.

It almost feels nostalgic to play Layton's Mystery Journey, and it's a title with a lot of replay value - especially more so if you love the narrative behind it. While it might not be the most authentic experience, it is truly one that you won't forget - we promise you!

yt

10 Candy Crush Saga

Candy Crush Saga

Candy Crush Saga is a match-3 game, but essentially they are all in the category of puzzle games. You need to find the best way to clear one of thousands of levels in the game. Instead of the regular colours, you'll have to match much sweeter candies, we have to say. So sweet, that the game has been downloaded over 1 billion times (yes, you read that correctly) from Google Play!

Note that there's a limit each day, and afterwards, you have to pay to enter another level, or...much popular option, wait a bit to be able to enter again.

yt

11 The Gardens Between

The Gardens Between

The Gardens Between is a side-scrolling puzzler that plays with time in various clever but accessible ways and marries its temporal manipulation to an utterly dreamy art style.

Now when it comes to actual gameplay, it won't feel much like your typical title in the genre (until you get to the actual problems). Instead, it will make you feel like you're playing some high-quality story-driven adventure filled with cleverly integrated brain teasers. It's superb.

yt

12 Empires & Puzzles

Empires & Puzzles

A solid combination of PVP and match-3 game reminds us of the one released on the original PlayStation - Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. In both titles, you need to match colours and make combos quicker than your opponent in order to gain leverage, or plainly, win the round.

However, in Empires & Puzzles, you'll also have kingdom management, you'll unlock new heroes, and this gives it much more depth than just being a regular match 3 puzzler. Empires & Puzzles is one of the top-earning Android puzzle games in a few countries, and it has a high average rating on Google Play, so it's a no-brainer.

yt

13 Golf Peaks

Golf Peaks

It might look like dull isometric golf, but Golf Peaks is actually an ingenious card-based puzzler that has you laying down golf shots in the right sequence.

Don't worry if golf is not your first choice. You don't actually need to know much about it if you're in for the problems to solve. That's the best part about it. Golf Peaks is a super well-disguised Android puzzle game that could pass on as a sports title!

14 Two Dots

Two Dots

This beautiful and addictive puzzler enchants us not with one, two, a hundred, two hundred levels... but with over 3000! Bart Bonte is renowned for his colour-coded abstract puzzlers, and Pink is the brightest yet. Each brain teaser is a clever, meta delight. This one, however, is especially good - mainly because it's pink.

The problems are all cleverly designed, and your goal is, just like in all of Bonte's previous creations, to make the screen a certain colour. In this case, pink . There is really nothing more satisfying than completing a level in a bright pink (maybe only black )!

A stylish casual puzzler that asks you to rotate a series of boldly decorated rooms through 360 degrees, matching up colour-coded items of furniture. 22 Baba is You

Baba is You

An outstanding and quite unique concept for a puzzle game comes in the form of Baba is You. This funny-named wonder will blast your head into a thousand pieces and have you collect them one by one, figuratively. If you played the Sokoban before, the basic concept is quite similar: there are blocks around the level, and you need to push them in the correct order to complete a certain level.

Now, in Baba is You rules for each level are written in words, that are coming in blocks of letters. One block will say 'wall', and the other will say 'stop', creating a sentence 'wall is stop', meaning you can't move through it.

Ready for a twist? you can move the 'stop' block, and now you can move through the wall! You can break the logic of every level, creating dozens of possible options.

23 Not Not - A Brain-Buster

Not Not - A Brain-Buster

This brain-buster, as the title cleverly suggests, is an Android puzzle game that seems fairly simple at first glance. It gives you challenges that you have to execute accordingly, but they come with a twist - they're not as straightforward as you might think. Or are they?

Some of the levels are simple enough that even a blindfolded toddler could pass them, while others might require you to be a rocket scientist. 'Not Not' is a title that will work wonders if you have nerves of steel, patience and incredible problem-solving skills. However, if you are not too keen on trying and failing the same stage over and over, it might not be the one for you.

24 Toon Blast

Toon Blast

Toon Blast made a hilarious spin to hook the players! If you're unaware of what we are talking about, take a look at the trailer . Of course, instead of chopping the little cartoon animals, you can pick them as avatars. Shame, it would be much more interesting otherwise, as you'd have a direct goal and a sense of urgency.

It's a match-3 puzzle game for Android and iOS that will grab you as soon as you clear the first few levels. Our advice is to give your wallet to someone else while you play it, as you'll have a strong urge to use the credit card just to clear one more level. Otherwise, it's a great funny title that you can relax with.

15 Best Puzzle Games For Android and iOS

Chess light – puzzle game, brain it on, monuments valley, escape puzzle game, move the block, jigsaw puzzles real, smart: brain games and logic puzzles, sudoku – puzzle game, 2048 original.

Hocus is a mind-bending perspective puzzle game. It is currently one of the top-rated puzzle games on the Play Store right now. In this game, your goal is to get a cube to the red finish marker as fast and efficiently as possible. It might look easy to play but can be pretty challenging.

One of the most incredible things about this game is that it lets you create and play other user-created puzzles. With over 100 puzzles, you can easily play this game for a few hours whenever you are bored.

  • Pros : Pick up and play game, easy to learn
  • Cons : Can get repetitive
  • Availability : Android and iOS

Amid all the available puzzle games online, Threes has a similar concept of sliding tiles to form a particular number, in this case, three and its multiples. When you start playing the game, it will give you a walk-through on how to play it so that it gets easier for you.

Threes: best problem solving games

It follows a simple drill of sliding the tiles and joining them to add the two titles. Even though it is an easy process, it will still take a while to join the tiles. It starts with making a three, followed by other multiples of three. Each step expects you to make one, and you have to use your brain while sliding to form the desired number.

The game has ease of flow, and once you start playing it often, you will enjoy it, and sliding tiles to form numbers will be your everyday goal.

  • Pros : Addictive in a good way
  • Cons : Can stutter sometimes

Mekorama is an adorable 3D puzzle game just like Treasure Tracker and Monument Valley. In this game, you control a cute little robot and navigate it through different puzzle rooms, each with different mechanics. Due to the variety in obstacles, the game keeps being fresh.

Whenever you finish a level, you unlock five more. So you won’t ever feel stuck, and the progression will be pretty open-ended. With over 50 levels to unlock, the game is quite a delight for those who like a challenge but want a laid-back experience.

  • Pros : Looks quite good considering its a mobile game
  • Cons : Might not run properly on older phones

Chess Lite

Chess light is a puzzle game based on, you guessed it, “Chess!”. The game puts you in over 180 different chess scenarios where you have to find a way to win. The game is free and comes with no ads, which is rare for games these days.

There are even six different difficulty options if you find the game is hard or too easy. You can even receive a hint if you feel like you are stuck. Fans of chess will definitely want to check this game out.

  • Pros : Huge variety of puzzle combinations
  • Cons : Have to know the basic rules of chess

Brain It On is an apt puzzle app to use when you want to challenge your brain. When I used the app, I could not help but scratch my head into how exactly can I play the simplest-looking game. The game works in a horizontal format and has a number of levels to reach.

You have to begin playing without doing much; open up the app, and select the first level (the first few levels are unlocked while others are locked), and start puzzling. Before you start, you have to make any shape of your choice on a plain canvas, beginning the main way of playing the game.

Brain It On: best puzzle games

This means that the app needs you to do something on the canvas to execute a particular task. For instance, there will be a situation wherein you have to make something so that a glass kept on the canvas falls on the ground.

As the levels increase, the difficulty of the puzzle increases, which makes Brain It On one of the best Android puzzle games as well as on iOS. Furthermore, you can upgrade the app to get rid of ads.

  • Pros : Simple UI
  • Cons : Need to watch ads for hints

Monuments Valley is a puzzle video game wherein you are required to use your brain and help the character reach the destination. Anyone talking about puzzle games ought to mention Monument Valley. Hence,  it had to make an entry on my list of best puzzle games.

Monument Valley: best puzzle games

While in the game, you have to play to puzzle to start playing the actual. The game is interesting as it has a 3D setting, and it is pretty fun to play.

The only drawback of the game is that it is a paid app, which slightly gets disappointing. Nonetheless, if spending money on apps is not a problem for you, Monuments Valley 1 and 2 are must-have puzzle games.

  • Pros : Intriguing concept
  • Cons : Paid app

Empty

Empty is a puzzle game similar to Monuments Valley, at least in terms of its artistic design. It’s a very zen-like puzzle game with a laid-back approach. Meaning you can play the game and not feel frustrated but rather healed.

The gameplay is quite simple, where you have to clear the room by rotating it. The game aims to teach us the value of simplicity in life with each level. It is entirely free and comes without any ads, which is quite rare for a game nowadays.

  • Pros : Relaxing music and style
  • Cons : Simplistic gameplay

The Two Dots Puzzle game moves around the two dots present on the app. You have to connect the dots in a way they meet each other, and a connection between the two is formed.

When you open up the app, the app will give a gist of how to play the game by letting you connect the two dots available on the screen. Once the process gets completed, you can start with the first level of the game, which will eventually take you up the hill of the more and more levels (with new ways of playing).

Two Dots: Best games to tease your brain

Keep in mind that you can connect the dots horizontally, vertically, or form a right-angle but can’t connect them diagonally. Additionally, you get limited moves, so you have to hurry up and use your brain before you make a move.

When you are at a particular level, you will be given some targets to make you cross the level. The initial levels are pretty straightforward, and you will feel like a pro until you reach more levels and realize it’s not as easy as it appeared.

  • Pros : Engaging
  • Cons : Can lag sometimes

Escape Room is one of the puzzle types wherein you have to look for objects smartly. The game has a storyline where a girl introduces you to the game’s concept, following which you can start playing.

With a medieval backdrop, the game also provides you with a limited number of hints so that you move ahead with ease in situations when you get stuck.

Escape Puzzle Game

The game begins with the first level (and moves up more levels), wherein you have to find a given number of objects and use them in the scene itself. You will have to tap on the various things placed and find the hidden things or combine two things to repair an item — the possibilities of proceeding ahead are many.

While the Escape Room is intriguing, the difficulty level makes it one of the well-suited puzzles for adults. However, kids can also play it to sharpen their brains.

  • Pros : Story format
  • Cons : Adverts
  • Availability : Android

Move The Block is one of the classic sliding puzzles (among free puzzles) where you are required to slide the objects (in this case, blocks) to win the puzzle. The puzzle game has a number of levels under Basic, Premium, and Old categories (eight to be precise), with each level coming with sub-levels.

move the block

When you start with the first level, you will be guided around the game and the options available for you to use and play with ease. The game is an interesting one, and as you move forward, you won’t even realize how addictive the game will get, and you will end up playing it more than the allotted time period.

Of course, as you move up the levels, the levels will get difficult, and you might need the help of the hints available at your disposal. This is where the game’s drawback appears; to get each clue, you have to watch an ad video that makes it annoying.

  • Pros : Daily Rewards
  • Cons : Mid-gameplay ads

If you haven’t played a jigsaw puzzle, have you ever played a puzzle at all? One of the classic puzzle games of all time, the game’s name is enough to be one of the best free online jigsaw puzzles.

The game follows the simple process of joining the puzzle pieces and forming a single picture. The app provides you with various options to choose from: be it pictures related to nature, animals, aerial, and many more, and you can pick the ones you like and arrange the jigsaw puzzle.

Jigsaw: best puzzle games

Before the pieces are spread around, you will be given a small glimpse of the whole picture to start playing. You can further view the image again and again to get a better idea.

The game makes sure it twists your brain and acts as an element of nostalgia when jigsaw puzzles are actual board games.

  • Pros : Various Puzzle options
  • Cons : Ads, ads, ads

Skillz is one of the mobile puzzle games that tease your brain and puts your brain to some good use.

The app lets you decide if you want to play as a single-player or play a multi-player game. Upon choosing, there will be a number of levels, and you will be taken to the first level. As a reminder, other levels will be locked until you pass the initial ones. Hence, skipping levels is not an option. In addition to this, there is an option to replay the game if you weren’t satisfied with your previous performance.

Skillz: best puzzle games

The levels include searching for a particular number or letter among the same numbers or letters, thus testing your brainpower and speed. The game proves pretty addictive as the urge to cross all the levels takes over once you start playing it. However, the presence of ads is a problem.

  • Pros : Single/Multi-Player option
  • Cons : Time-based gameplay

Among the various puzzle game apps, Smart is a game that includes several brain teasers and logic puzzles, giving us an opportunity to play free puzzles.

The game has various color-coded levels (Blue, Violet, Gold) and other levels (Left & Right, Block Game, and Pipeline), each level coming with loads of sub-levels for you to enjoy the puzzle maker.

Smart: Brain Games

Selecting the levels and then the sub-levels will let you into your puzzles with tutorials so that you can get the hang of the game before starting. There are various puzzle options, which will ensure you don’t get bored with the game. While the gameplay is as smooth as butter initially, the more levels you reach, the more difficult it gets.

Overall, Smart is a fun game to play and rates you in areas such as memory, imagination, problem-solving, flexibility, speed, and attention so that you eventually improve in the areas. Additionally, you earn points and diamonds each time you cross a level.

  • Pros : Loads of game options
  • Cons : Slightly confusing app

Sudoku is another puzzle that is a classic and one of the best mobile puzzle games. Bringing the daily newspaper puzzle game to your smartphones, Sudoku is all about arranging numbers both vertically and horizontally.

The number count is from 1 to 9 in a 9×9 grid (also a standard format). You have to ensure that each grid doesn’t have the same number to make the perfect Sudoku. The game allows you to get hints, undo a particular entry, erase it or pencil it off.

Sudoku

Additionally, Sudoku gives you daily challenges for further brain stimulation, lets you change the game’s theme, and lets you remove ads by making purchases.

While the game appears difficult when you start playing it, it eventually gets fun to play and easier once you get the hang of it. Being one of the vintage free puzzle games, it reminded me of the days when I used to play Sudoku from a newspaper back in school.

  • Pros : Great brain teaser
  • Cons : Takes a while to launch

2048 is one of the types of puzzles we have heard of before. It is a sliding puzzle requiring us to slide the blocks and eventually arrange four blocks in the ‘2048’ manner. While there are many apps with the 2048 moniker, it is present on my list of best puzzle games due to the high ratings and downloads.

2048 Original: Problem solving game

When you open up the app, you are asked to select the grids (4×4, 5×5, 6×6, 8×8, 3×5, 4×6, 5×8, 6×9) you want to play the game on. Once you select the grid of your choice, you can start playing the game. Remember, grid sizes mean that the difficulty is more with an increase in grid size.

2048 Original is one of the best puzzle apps, given that it activates the brain cells so badly, fulfilling the purpose of a puzzle game. If you want to tease your brain hard, you need 2048 on your smartphone.

  • Cons : Frequent ads

Types Of Puzzles

5 Angry Birds Journey

Whether a game or a movie, Angry Birds never ceases to amaze us. And this physics game is no different. The game revolves around the hot-tempered birds and naughty piggies’ lives. Your task is to help the birds topple towers and rescue their hatchlings.

The voiceover makes the game more captivating as you internalize Leopold’s decisions in life. You can move Leo forward or backward. Puffing makes him jump, while squeezing allows him to pass through small gaps.

3 Bad Piggies

Another classic from Rovio, Bad Piggies is based on the Angry Birds movie. In this game, you play as the green pigs you fought against in Angry Birds Journey. While both have similar graphics, the gameplay is quite different, and so are the puzzles. The game starts by losing a map that could help you escape the lost island.

You must redirect the water or create new channels until it reaches Swampy’s bathtub.

You must also ensure the water volume is adequate for it to flow through. Otherwise, Swampy will get dirty and angry. Furthermore, you have to collect rubber duckies scattered across the map. This makes the game busy, challenging, and interesting as you progress through the levels.

1 Happy Glass

Making the sad, empty glass happy is your duty in this game. You’ll do this by filling it with a liquid through a line until it smiles again. You can draw any line or shape you want, but you have to observe the 100 percent limit. Although coming in a minimalist design, the game is undeniably challenging.

10 Mobile Games That Will Sharpen Your Mind In Your Downtime

10 Mobile Games That Will Sharpen Your Mind In Your Downtime

Mobile gaming apps have come a long way in the last few years, and that’s probably a bit of an understatement. The rise of Apple Arcade has meant that folks are actively choosing to pay for and play quality mobile games. It’s a far cry from the days of “this is a game I have to play while on the toilet.” Though I’m sure those still exist. What we love most about the developing platform is that there are dozens of game genres available for our phones: shooters, RPGs, puzzle games, etc. But, if we’re talking about simple, brainless entertainment and time-passers, brain training games and puzzle apps have emerged as one of the most wildly popular mobile game genres on the planet.

We love brain training games because they aren’t just fun, they condition our brains to be better and sharper. Memory retention, abstraction, divided attention, word memory — a good brain game has it all. And if you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet, we think it’s about time you did. Here are 10 of the best mobile brain games, puzzle apps, and concentration games out there.

Can Games Make You Smarter?

Playing games can make you smarter in a number of ways. For example, strategy games like chess can improve problem-solving skills and critical thinking, while memory and attention-based games can improve memory and attention. Learning games, such as those that teach coding or math, can help to improve specific skills and knowledge.

And you don’t have to sit down in front of a board with a group of people to get the benefits. Mobile games can be just as good for brain health if they’re designed to challenge cognitive skills. Of course, not all mobile games are created equal in terms of their cognitive benefits (no, that first person shooter isn’t going to help with memory loss).

This is yet another exceptional logic game for Android that is not only unique in the premise but also in execution. It is a simple game that involves a board of numbers. You will be able to swipe and add numbers in this game but only identical numbers can be added. The main goal of the game is to reach 2048 on a single tile.

While this may seem very simple to achieve but in practice it is really hard. I have played this game for a long while and have only achieved this 2048 tile only four times. Maybe that’s because I’m not thinking that hard or not even applying logic to the game but if you are looking to sharpen your basic arithmetic skills, this is a wonderful game to have.

You need fancy graphics and stunning visual effects to capture the imagination of gamers, especially in logic based game.  This is a simple game that tasks you with connecting all the lines and corners to make perfect connections. In my personal experience, Infinity Loop makes you feel clean after clearing a level. It is a simple and endless game that not only involves logic but also your perception.

4. You Must Escape

problem solving game for android

As the name implies, You Must Escape traps you in a room and gives you the goal of escaping from confinement. It is a very simple idea but it is implemented so well that you spend a lot of time figuring out how to escape a particular room. There are challenging puzzles as well as great brainteasers to make things interesting for you.

This game is going to make you work for your freedom. Rather than having a simple door to open, you will have to find keys and solve different logical brainteasers in order to get away. The game is extremely easy to start and the game keeps the challenge difficulty at an optimal level throughout. If you have by any chance played older Resident Evil video games, you may be familiar with the concept of combining seemingly unrelated objects to make a key formula; this game is exactly like that.

5. REBUS – Absurd Logic Game

problem solving game for android

This is kind of an absurd logic game for Android and it says that right in the name as well. However, you’ll have a lot of fun solving these logical puzzles that involve shapes, texts and different images. The game of design, associations and logic and will help you in strengthening your puzzle solving skills.

This game should also be placed in the  best puzzle games for Android , solely because it has one of the best designs I have encountered in a long while. In this list of five best Android logic games for adults, this is my personal favorite because of the cute design it follows and it makes you feel happy about solving the puzzles.

These were a few great Android logic games for adults, and I hope you find one for yourself as well. One of the best things about this list is that you might as well install all of the games right from the get-go. These games are not huge in size and will not take a lot of space on your smartphone or tablet, and all of them offer unique logical problems for you to solve. I highly recommend that you simply download all of them at once and go through them at your own pace. I’m pretty sure you’ll find something to your liking.

If you are thinking about something a bit more entertaining as well as approachable, we have also written a list of simple logic games for Android that are designed for everyone, including young children.

These 15 best problem solving game apps for kids will truly make them think.

I know I'm not the only one who feels just a tad less guilty about extra screen time for my kids when they're engaged with an app that is helping them learn. Having a folder of problem-solving game apps for kids lets them exercise their minds and stretch their imaginations instead of just zoning out like they do while watching endless unboxing videos. (Although, I admit, those videos are oddly fascinating.)

Educational apps for kids aren't necessarily hard to come by and your kids likely already have a few that they love. However, these games will help kids hone in on specific problem-solving skills in various forms to keep their minds sharp and give them the chance to learn new things. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends kids engage with apps that "require more than 'pushing and swiping,'" which these 15 problem-solving game apps certainly do.

Strategy and planning are key components to solving any problem, so it is no surprise that all of these games help to make these concepts come to life for kids in a way that is fun and engaging. STEM-forward games engage physics and engineering to help kids create and invent to solve mechanical and structural problems, while traditional puzzle games allow kids to use their strategical skills to put together digital riddles.

The problem-solving power of puzzles cannot be overstated, and apps like Tozzle bring practice of this skillset right to your toddler's digital-loving fingertips. Instead of tripping over a pile of puzzles in your child's floor and risking losing critical pieces, let them explore the 40+ puzzles available on Tozzle. Designed for kids from toddler through early elementary, Tozzle's puzzles range in complexity so there is truly something for every kid.

Cut The Rope

My own kids adore playing this game. The goal of the game Cut The Rope is to feed a cute little monster named Om Nom as much candy as you can. The trick though is that to feed him, you must strategically cut a rope that the candy is hanging from so that it drops in Om Nom's mouth, dodging obstacles along the way. It's actually harder than it looks and requires quite a bit of critical thinking. Best suited for kids ages 4 and up, I have played this one myself a time or two, and it is actually entertaining and engaging for adults as well.

What do you get when you combine the physics of water with puzzles? The problem-solving app Busy Water . Kids can use their critical thinking skills to use pipes, wheels, blocks, and paddles to help Archie the fish find his way out of the open water and back into his fish tank. Aimed at children ages 6 to 10, this app will help engage children's creativity, as well as stretch their cognitive ability and reasoning skills.

Laugh & Learn Shapes & Colors

These 15 best problem solving game apps for kids will engage their brains and help them learn.

Even babies and toddlers can learn through simplistic problem solving apps. Designed for babies ages 6 months and up, this app by Fisher Price features a baby and toddler-friendly design with bright colors and simple shapes to sort. Two levels of play allow babies and toddlers to learn through tapping or tilting the screen to move the shapes and hear their names.

Best Games That Reward Creative Problem-Solving

  • As video game technology advances, puzzles have become more open-ended, allowing for creative solutions and multiple outcomes.
  • Games like Portal 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 reward players for thinking creatively and finding unique ways to solve problems.
  • Undertale and Scribblenauts Unlimited offer players the freedom to approach puzzles in their own way, showcasing the importance of player choice.

In the early days of video games, puzzles and their solutions were pretty cut and dry. Get from Point A to Point B, and accomplish A, B, and C using a very specific method. There was only one way to beat the game; players just needed to find it. Part of this was due to hardware and scripting limitations. Consoles had such limited memory that there simply wasn't room for more creative solutions.

11 Best Puzzle Games On Steam That Deserve More Attention

But as video games and consoles become more advanced, puzzle-solving in games has become more open-ended. Developers are now usually more than happy to hand players the reins and let them run wild with their creativity. All the pieces are there; players just need to put them together. There are no right or wrong answers, just what works and what doesn't, and for those looking to flex their creative puzzle-solving muscles and get rewarded for doing so , there are plenty of gaming options available.

Peace is Always An Option

Platform(s) PS Vita, Switch, PS4, PC, Xbox One

Released September 15, 2015

Developer(s) Toby Fox

Genre(s) RPG

This 2015 smash hit revolutionized puzzle-solving and story progression in RPG adventure games, being one of the first where players could complete the entire game without killing a single enemy. Instead, they could choose the Pacifist route and befriend NPCs instead (or go from killing a single enemy to all of them in the notorious Genocide route ).

Beyond the multiple endings, Undertale is filled with puzzles to overcome, not all of which have a single solution. Is a dastardly skeleton placing a maze trap before the fallen human? They might be able to solve it, or they can opt to simply walk around it. New dialogue options and story branches open and close based on who the player chooses to spare and how. The reward for creative puzzle-solving is that players get to explore more of this colorful world and iconic characters.

Scribblenauts Unlimited

The noun's the limit.

Platform(s) Wii U, Switch, PS4, PC, iOS, Android, 3DS, Xbox One

Released November 13, 2012

Developer(s) 5th Cell

Genre(s) Puzzle, Sandbox

Scribblenauts proves that the pen is indeed mightier than the sword. No, seriously. The titular heroes in this popular puzzle RPG series use the power of words to solve all their problems. Players can write down a noun and watch it appear in the world. Giving it an adjective results in the object or creature transforming to match its new description. Giving a pig wings will allow it to fly, and manifesting some glue out of the ether will permit players to stick things together. The possibilities are literally endless.

Scribblenauts Unlimited builds on its predecessors with an expansive list of nouns, adjectives, and adverbs that players can use and provides multiple ways to solve each puzzle. The game doesn't care how players accomplish their goals, so long as they clear the level's main objective. The only real limit is the player's imagination (and their vocabulary).

Aperture Science Tests One's Creativity

Platform(s) PS3, Switch, Xbox 360, PC

Released April 18, 2011

Developer(s) Valve

Genre(s) Puzzle, Platformer

The Portal games make no secret that they want to test players' problem-solving abilities. The game's central antagonist, GLaDOS , makes that abundantly clear. In fact, the entire plot is to use those same skills to escape the testing facility once and for all. Each test follows the same simple premise: get to the end of the testing chamber in one piece. How the player does it is up to them - and the game's physics engine. Jump through portals, avoid deadly turrets and bottomless pits, propel through the air -- it doesn't matter. As the saying goes, "If it's stupid and it works, it isn't stupid."

Portal 2 takes this engaging premise and amps it up to eleven. Puzzles are bigger, deadlier, and more complicated than ever before. While some answers are laid out more obviously than others, players are free to ignore those options and think outside the box as much as they want. So long as they reach the final door, GLaDOS doesn't mind how they did it. After all, data is data.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Zonai devices help players reinvent the wheel.

Platform(s) Switch

Released May 12, 2023

Developer(s) Nintendo

Genre(s) Adventure

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a massive breath of fresh air for the franchise. Linear adventures with clear-cut solutions were swapped out for a massive open world and a fun new physics engine that led to infinitely creative gameplay. Many fans of the series felt the game essentially reinvented the wheel of a franchise that had started to get a bit formulaic. However, its direct sequel, Tears of the Kingdom , didn't just reinvent the wheel; it allowed players to invent their own.

8 Hardest Zelda Games To 100% Complete

On top of the many new mechanics introduced in Breath of the Wild , Tears of the Kingdom introduced several new mechanics for players to tinker around with. The best by far is the introduction of Zonai devices, allowing players to use various moving mechanical parts in endless combinations to solve puzzles. Gamers can build siege engines that breathe fire, gliders powered by fans, or massive catapaults to launch enemies (or themselves) off into the horizon.

Baldur's Gate 3

Any solution is just a dice roll away.

Platform(s) Xbox Series X, PS5, PC, macOS, Stadia

Released August 3, 2023

Developer(s) Larian Studios

This award-winning RPG action-adventure game from 2023 famously adapted the core rules of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition into a video game format. But the game didn't just take the basic stats and mechanics; it went above and beyond to allow players to think just as creatively as they would while playing real D&D . Any D&D campaign can go off the rails at any moment. One bad dice roll or truly chaotic player choice, and there will be consequences. That's what makes the game so fun, and Baldur's Gate 3 understands this.

No two playthroughs of Baldur's Gate 3 are the same, thanks to the infinite array of choices , dice checks, and consequences. Players are rewarded for seeing just how many different ways they can solve the same problem. Do they exterminate the goblin camp or side with them? Can they pickpocket the vendor for powerful items to avoid paying? Can they talk their way out of being arrested, either through smooth-talking or saber-rattling? Every decision opens doors and closes others. Each interaction can forge new allies or enemies. Every quest has multiple endings, good or bad. Players can play the campaign however they want and will be rewarded for their creative thinking along the way.

Packers Hope They’ve Solved Field-Tilting Watson’s Hamstring Problems

Bill huber | may 22, 2024.

Packers WR Christian Watson

  • Green Bay Packers

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay Packers receiver Christian Watson’s hamstrings have been hamstrung by asymmetry.

The quest for answers to persistent hamstring issues led Watson, cornerback Eric Stokes and members of the team’s training staff to the University of Wisconsin, where they met with specialists from Badger Athletic Performance. Tests showed asymmetry in Watson’s hamstring. The left was significantly stronger and more powerful than the right hamstring.

“One, it puts strain on the left side, and the left is going through a lot more,” Watson explained at Packers OTAs on Tuesday. “And then, two, obviously, when you’re trying to be equal in power, it puts a lot more stress on the one that’s not as strong. So, that’s been the No. 1 thing for me because that leads to fatigue, as well. It’s a bad place to be so, obviously, that’s been my No. 1 goal to just kind of eliminate that.”

Watson said there was a “20-something percent” difference between the legs.

“Which is huge,” he said. It was a byproduct of injuries to his right hamstring that cost him three games in 2022, the first three games in 2023 and the final five games in 2023.

Through weekly treks to Madison and workouts in Green Bay, the difference has been cut in half.

“We have a NordBord in there that tells us the power outputs and the asymmetry,” Watson said. “Honestly, that’s my favorite part of the week, just going in there and getting to see that we’ve knocked off 4, 5, 6 percent of that asymmetry every week. Obviously, I still have a goal to get to. I want to be perfectly symmetrical, so I’ll continue to work that that.”

Perfect symmetry isn’t really possible – everyone has a dominant side. The goal is to find relative equilibrium. To get there, Watson does either an extra set of lifts or adds additional weight so his right leg is working harder than the left.

“You want to be within 6 percent symmetry on both legs,” Watson said. “Obviously, still working to get there.”

Watson was at his explosive best on Tuesday. He was arguably the best player on the practice field, making a number of catches 10, 15 and 20 yards down the field on passes from Jordan Love.

“I’m feeling really good,” he said.

Coach Matt LaFleur was cautiously optimistic that Watson has found the answers that will allow him to get on the field and stay on the field so he can stack day after day and then game after game.

“Time will tell. Certainly, you’ve got to get through the entire offseason, into training camp,” LaFleur said. “There’s a lot of volume in training camp, so we get through that, then we’ll feel pretty good about it. Both he and Stokes look like they’re probably in the best shape I’ve seen either one of them.”

The Packers have assembled a strong receiver corps. Last year, when Watson missed those eight games due to hamstring injuries, the Packers went 5-3. Moreover, passes thrown to Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks and Bo Melton resulted in passer ratings ranging from 109.5 to 124.5; passes to Watson resulted in a passer rating of 69.8. Of Love’s 12 interceptions on passes to receivers, six were directed to Watson.

Still, his importance to the team can’t be overstated because of his game-changing combination of speed and size.

“He’s incredibly bright, which allows us to move him all over the place,” LaFleur said. “Certainly, he brings the sheer size and physicality and speed that he possesses. You better know where he’s at at all times, because all it takes is one play. If he gets a sliver of light, he’s able to outrun everybody on the defense. So, yeah, he definitely changes and tilts the field in our favor when he’s out there.”

The key to tilting the field is staying on the field. As a rookie, he started his career by playing in two games and missing one, playing in two games and missing two. Through the team’s first nine games, Watson had 88 receiving yards. In Game 10 against Dallas and Game 12 against Philadelphia, Watson topped 100 yards. It was a similar story last year, with Watson turning in a series of ho-hum performances before catching five passes for 94 yards and one touchdown against Detroit and seven passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns against the Chiefs.

In retrospect, Watson said his issues were “pretty self-explanatory.” Now, the key will be eliminating the asymmetry and getting an even better understanding of his body to nip any potential problems in the bud. From that perspective, the trips to Madison have been enlightening.

“I liked science when I was a kid, but it was never my strong suit,” he said. “At this level of any sport, I think you’ve got to know your body. Just to be able to learn about it and understand how everything works has helped me a lot in terms of what I’m doing. I’m not just doing it because they’re telling me. I’m doing it because I understand what it’s going to do for me.”

Positive Peers Launches Solitaire Emotions Game Designed to Boost Mental Health for Kids, Adults, and Seniors

Positive Peers Learning Software Partners' new app, Solitaire Emotions, utilizes positive affirmations and problem-solving challenges in the classic card game to enhance cognitive and emotional development for all ages, including neurodivergent individuals.

New York, NY - May 25, 2024 —

The question of whether playing video games can have a healthy and positive impact on a wide range of demographics, including kids, adults, seniors, and neurodivergent learners (autism spectrum disorders), is gaining increasing attention.

Positive Peers Learning Software Partners, an education technology company are the creators of the innovative brain game app "Solitaire Emotions," firmly believe in the affirmative and point to recent studies from the Pew Research Center, the National Institute of Health and the Responsible Innovation for Technology for Children (RITEC) Project.

These studies suggest that video games with positive thinking narratives and problem-solving challenges can significantly benefit cognitive and emotional development.

Solitaire Emotions, developed by Positive Peers Learning Software Partners, combines the classic card game with unique visuals, and (English and Spanish) bilingual self-regulation cards, coping strategies, positive affirmations, positive self-talk, to help players of all ages, including neurodivergent individuals.

This works in five key areas: learning to identify and manage various emotions, reducing stress, and sharpening memory.

This game is designed with the belief that positive words and affirmations are crucial for mental health enrichment.

"Words have power," says Jomo Gamal Thomas, bilingual author, artist, attorney, and co-founder of Positive Peers Learning Software.

"Positive thinking and self-talk can reduce stress, improve productivity, enhance coping skills, and promote better mental health. Our game features positive affirmations and words to help manage emotions and relax through the classic card game Solitaire, also known as Klondike or Concentration," Thomas said.

The app's innovative visual interface and coping strategies provide a much-needed tool for developing self-awareness, empathy, and behavioral regulation.

"I have a passion for positivity, productivity, people, and social-emotional learning," says Thomas. "As a single parent of a young son, Jomo Jesus, who is a prodigy and a neurodivergent learner (autistic), I saw the need to create a mindful Solitaire app for EQ and IQ that promotes positive thinking and emotional management." An estimated 6 million (9.8%) US children aged 3–17 years have ever been diagnosed with ADHD and over 8 million adults have ADHD according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Co-founder Sandra M. Clifton adds, "This is not just another mindless game. It's about incorporating emotional intelligence and positive thinking into a gamified experience for brain training and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and zones of emotional regulation."

The app includes:

Dynamic Learning Environment : Each session in "Solitaire Emotions" allows players to engage with complex emotions and develop strategies to navigate them effectively.

Cognitive Development Tools : The game enhances cognitive abilities like memory, attention span, and focus through interactive card gameplay.

Skill Enhancement : Players can sharpen their decision-making skills and problem-solving abilities while enjoying the game.

Emotional Coping Mechanisms: The app helps players identify their emotions and develop practical coping strategies.

Promotion of Mental Health Awareness : "Solitaire Emotions" encourages players to have open conversations about mental health, fostering a supportive community.

Thomas further emphasizes the importance of positive thinking and emotional intelligence in today's society: "Negative words can decrease self-esteem, self-confidence, and emotional control. Young children benefit more from positive self-talk and affirmations that promote mental health, self-confidence, and improved self-control of emotions. Developing a game with positive messages is our way of giving back to the world.”

21 Items For People Who Think Sand Is The Worst Thing Mother Nature Invented

Blech for all the times you *thought* you had wiped off all that sand before reapplying sunscreen.

Elizabeth Lilly

BuzzFeed Staff

1. A sand removal bag  filled with talc-free, reef-friendly powder that'll help you brush off the scratchy stuff that you don't mind on the beach or playground but would *like* to leave where you found it.

Before and after images of feet, one dirty and one clean, demonstrating a foot-cleaning product's effectiveness

See it  in action on TikTok . My coworker Sally Elshorafa lives by the beach (lucky duck!) and used it on herself and her toddler. She says, "It's actually shocking how well it worked. No sand was on our legs, arms, or tummies after I used it. A miracle product."

Shakalo is a San Diego-based small business started to figure out a way to help people, especially parents remove sand before leaving the beach. The soft fabric pouch allows the powder to remove the sand without scattering everywhere.

Promising review: "We recently moved to a beach area, and we are constantly there. This item has changed our entire lives! It lasts decently long (depending on how much you use it), it smells super good (not at all like baby powder), and it's super effective. It has saved me from vacuuming my car at least 1x–2x a week. I even use it on my dogs paws and bellies to make sure they're taken care of. I will definitely be buying the refill and another bag to have exclusively in the car." — Gabbs Uresti

Get it from Amazon for $24.99  (available in two sizes).

2. A sturdy sand-removal brush to get sand off surfboards, beach chairs, gear, and even off your body!

Promising review: "This was the best investment I made for our beach vacation with a 1-year-old! She could take her naps at normal times, so we weren’t packing up to go back and forth. The extended floor was so nice to keep sand out and sit and play with her. Holding on to it for the next trip, and would definitely recommend to anyone traveling with a baby or toddler!" — Heather

Get it from Amazon for $29.99+  (available in blue and green).

6. Coppertone Sport Sunscreen Spray SPF 50  comes in a two-pack so you can know you'll be covered without FEELING like you're covered in greasy sun protection. Yes you need to brush off any sand before you reapply, but reapplying with a spray is so much easier on a beach day.

Promising review: "My kids will only use spray-on sunscreen (for their bodies and the stick for face and neck). This spray is easy to use and protects their delicate skin from harmful UVB rays. It's waterproof and sweat-proof, which is a big plus. Would highly recommend!" — S. Pme

Get it from Amazon for $14.41 .

7. Plus, a set of  sunscreen reminder stickers  pairs with your body sunscreen so you know WHEN to reapply instead of playing a guessing game or de-sanding yourself more often than you need to in order to reapply.

Promising review: "These were so easy to use, sheer, and stayed on even through full beach days with sun, sand, ocean, and pool. The best part was that it got my kids WANTING to put sunscreen on and reminding me that they needed to reapply!! I thought the price was a bit high — but given they can be used for more than one day and most importantly, got my kids excited about sunscreen, I think they are totally worth it!" — PV

Get two 16-counts from Amazon for $25.99+  (also available as a 48-count).

8. A roomy beach bag with a waterproof section  that'll hold your phone, Kindle, and other items that ABSOLUTELY cannot get wet or sandy.

Promising review: "The two exterior pockets are perfect for masks in one, water bottle in the other for quick access. The inside protected pockets are perfect to keep things dry and sand-free (goggles, sunglasses, phone, change of clothes) and the bag itself is roomy enough for three towels, snacks, four kinds of sunblock, and miscellaneous other beach accessories." — David Petraitis

Get it from Amazon for $23.99 (available in six colors/prints).

9. Or a  mesh beach bag with a cooler zip-off portion at the bottom so you can haul towels and snacks to beach, then shake it out when you're ready to leave the beach.

Promising review: "This is a great tote! The cooler on the bottom is unexpected each time someone sees it and is a great little bonus. We had more than enough room to pack four Gatorades and squeezable applesauce packs — you probably can’t pack a lunch and drinks for more than two or three people, but we only had two so it served us great!" — MasonDixon

Get it from Amazon for $29.99+  (available in five colors).

10. An all-in-one beach umbrella system with a shovel and sand anchor to help you more easily secure it to the *perfect* spot on the beach. And a tray for drinks and snacks so you can loft them up high above the messy sand.

Beach umbrella with a chair, towels, and basket underneath, signifying a leisurely day at the beach

Anchor Works is a small biz specializing in this umbrella system.

Promising review: "I can leave my beach chair secure in the knowledge that it will always be there when I return! This umbrella is so strong, and the color is so pretty! Love the drink and cell holder! P.S. a tropical storm was en route, and we were standing!" — Kate Fleming

Get it from Amazon for $119.99 (available in five colors).

11. Or if you like to rent an umbrella or have one you already like, a  beach umbrella table  for lofting your phone, current beverage, and snack bag of chips from the pesky sand. This'll also take up less space in your luggage than a folding table. (I used a similar table at a Greek beach club last summer to a lot of success!)

ECCOSOPHY is a small biz specializing in these towels.

Promising review: "This beach blanket is awesome. The stakes and sand pockets help keep it secure so the wind doesn't blow it away. It's also super easy to put in and out of the bag it comes with, and the material is light and dries quickly. It's big enough for 2–3 people. Definitely my new favorite beach accessory." — Mike

Get it from Amazon for $39.99  (available in four colors).

14. A set of towel clips you'll be grateful you packed once the wind kicks up as you're 20 feet away tossing a football with your pals. No one wants a sandy towel! (And you can use it to hang up your wet swimsuit after.)

Reviewer's towel attached to a chair with two pink clips

Check out a TikTok of the towel clips in action.

Promising review: "I purchased these for a family of eight going on a cruise and they loved them! So easy to use, just put your towel on the beach chair and clip down with these. They said they were especially awesome on windy days when others towels were blowing away if they were not sitting on the chair. The family was able to go to lunch or take a walk and not worry that their towels had been blown away and someone had then snagged their seats. Very inexpensive and functional clips." — TypeA

Get a set of 16 from Amazon for $9.99 .

15. Or a four-pack of towel bands  in case you'd prefer for your method to keep your towel on your chair to lay flush against the chair.

Promising review : "These slip-on pool shoes are fantastic!! They are light and keep your feet flexible. They are great at the beach too — Hot Sand! Ocean Creepy Things!! I buy several pairs (too cute to choose just one) each season. I live at the beach...so I have a long swim season, April through October. So they get a workout!!" — Ashley Onale

Get it from Amazon for $8.68+ (available in seven sizes and 44 colors).

17. A set of DEET-free handy  mosquito-repelling bracelets  in case the thought of putting something else on your skin besides SPF (like smelly bug repellent) that'll attract more sand sounds like a total nightmare.

Promising review: "I bought this to take on a cruise. Never had issues with bites. Once back home I put them on my son who is allergic to some bites and always itchy after time outdoors. Since he’s had these on outside it’s hardly an issue anymore. Very cool." — MardiGrasGirl

Get a 10-pack from Amazon for $8.49 .

18. Double-buckle slides  (that totally resemble Birks) you can slip in and out of pool- or beachside. And yup, they're waterproof so you can easily rinse off your feet while wearing these at the beach exit.

reviewer wearing the white double buckle slides

The seller recommends checking the size chart, which details the best size for your foot length. The back strap is also adjustable!

Promising review : "Comfy and trendy enough. I like 'em! I prefer not to wear shoes that don't have a back. It's my paranoia that I'll have to break out in a run at some point. But these work very well. I walk miles in them without discomfort. Plus they're cute. Trends up any casual outfit. They are not Croc - or Birkenstock -level comfort because the sole is not cushioned, but it is carved out just right for the naked foot. Update: Just came back from a month in Costa Rica during rainy season and I'm so glad I brought these! They held up so well getting through muddy pebble streets. The soles were thick enough to not feel the rocks beneath me and keep my toes from getting in the dirt. When I got in, I just washed them off. The white color held up in all that and they never felt uncomfortable or as if they would come of my feet (a concern I have about sandals without ankle straps). They are excellent value. Get 'em!" — MelRay

Get them from Amazon for $17.99 (available in sizes 6–10 and two colors).

19. A set of  mesh "sea shell collecting" bags  with adjustable straps so everyone can go on a very efficient seashell-collecting mission with minimal sand carted back home. And because it's mesh, you can hose down the bag and what's inside before taking home.

A child with a green mesh bag strapped across their torso

Promising review: "I bought these for my kids to use on vacation where we'd be camping and doing lots of outdoor activities. They used them to collect rocks and other interesting finds. They held up well and several months later with use at home there are no rips or tears. The mesh was convenient when collecting rocks on the beach, and we wanted to hose everything down before bringing them inside. They have an adjustable strap and very easily fit all of my kids ranging from ages 2–10 (could fit older kids, too) . I highly recommend!" — a_bennet

Get a set of three from Amazon for $13.99+  (available in two sizes and four color combinations).

20. A  waterproof pouch  that I buy for every water- and sand-adjacent vacation (so mostly warm-weather trips like Croatia and Greece). But! As soon as I booked my flight for Iceland, I bought one of these to take along to The Blue Lagoon. It survived rain, hail, and all kinds of steam rising off the water. It packs SUPER flat so you'll always have room for it in your bag. So it really is a multitasker!

Person snorkeling with fish, wearing mermaid-style fin, in a clear underwater scene

It fits any phone up to 100 mm x 170 mm (or about 3.9 inches x 6.7 inches). It also keeps out sand, dirt, and rain.

With these, I find that they're good for about a day due to condensation . So, for a trip I'll buy two to three, except for this one where I just knew I'd be in the water at the Blue Lagoon. And while I'm on the subject, check out a TikTok I made using the phone case ! On the day I went, we had to duck and run inside because of rain. And it was hailing on us when I was in the water, so I had to face a certain way to keep from getting pelted in the face. But, when in Rome! Then we went inside and ate lunch at the Lava Restaurant, and it was GORGEOUS and clear outside post-lunch. So, this case worked well taking pics in both bad and good conditions  (as you can see from the two pics for comparison). I've used this case to take underwater pics, on boat rides, and have worn it with the lanyard jumping off a boat into water. So, I really trust these!

Promising review: "Great for the ocean — no water, no sand, and you can use your phone through the case." — Penny Hendeson

Get it from Amazon for $7.99 (available in 13 colors).

21. And finally a  utility wagon  that'll contain all that stuff you're taking to the beach AND help you pull it across the sand. I see families on the subway in NYC with this all the time on the way home from a beach day. Now *that's* how you do the beach without a car. But! It'll also come in handy for folks that can drive to the beach.

reviewer showing the blue wagon filled with assorted chairs and things needed to bring to the beach

And there are LOTS more uses for this than just a beach day!

Promising review:  " This wagon is a must-have!!!! I love how compact it is when folded up (it also comes with a nice carrying back making it easy to move around!) , this feature is important to me as trunk space is limited when packing the family up for a day trip to the beach or park. We found this wagon to be very easy to set up. Simply pull out of the bag and unclip and fold out! Simple as that, its now ready to use!!! I found the cargo area to be large enough to carry all of our items easily, it holds a lot and a good amount of weight, too . The wheels are great quality, easy to pull on pavement, grass even a dirt path. The front wheels swivel making it easy to maneuver. Overall, we are very impressed with the make, quality, and durability of this wagon. We highly recommend it and would purchase it again!" — Jess & Craig

Welcome to the daily solving of our PROBLEM OF THE DAY with Saurabh Bansal . We will discuss the entire problem step-by-step and work towards developing an optimized solution. This will not only help you brush up on your concepts of Dynamic Programming but also build up problem-solving skills. Given three numbers n , x , and y , Geek and his friend are playing a coin game. In the beginning, there are n coins. In each move, a player can pick x , y , or 1 coin. Geek always starts the game. The player who picks the last coin wins the game. The task is to determine whether Geek will win the game or not if both players play optimally.

Input :  n = 5 x = 3 y = 4

Output:   1
