I have several hobbies, but the one that makes me the happiest and gives a lot of mental freshness is reading storybooks. I love to read adventure stories and stories on animals and science fiction. Some of my favourite storybooks are Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe, The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells, The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling, The Adventures of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle, and Man-Eaters of Kumaon by Jim Corbett. I am now looking forward to reading more books especially, Moby Dick by Herman Melville and fiction written by Ruskin Bond. Whenever I get some leisure time I read a book and that’s why exam breaks are my favourite. 

I have another hobby- making recycled toys and origami. I use old, broken toy parts to make miniature aeroplanes and cars and watch a lot of origami videos on Youtube to make my own paper toys and craft items. I also like to write about my toys and origami items on my blog that my mother helped me to create two years ago. I keep doing these two activities- reading storybooks and making craft items in my free times alternatively so that I never get bored. In fact, my hobbies give wings to my imagination!

My aim in life is to become a globetrotter. And in the pages of the storybooks, I already get to visualize many beautiful places. I wish to travel a lot someday and write down my experiences in a blog. For that, I think my hobby of reading storybooks is going to help me significantly. But soon, after a lot of practice and perseverance I was able to get hands on learning of guitar strings.   Playing guitar has taught me many things, but the most important thing it has taught me is that the more you play it, the better you become at it. I have hurt my finger with guitar chords many times. Practicing made me learn different notes and now I can play chords such as AM, C, D, G, AM7, CMAJ7 and many more.

Playing guitar gives me the refuge from thinking too much about outside world. It helps me stay calm in the world of chaos. The best thing about it is that I can recreate any tune I want to, which makes me feel very creative and happy that my hobby has developed into a worthwhile talent. i hope that soon I am able to learn other musical instruments as well.

6. My Hobby Essay – Cooking (300 words)

My hobbies have always changed over the time. At one point in my life, I used to paint in my free time. As I grew up, I started cooking as a hobby. I still remember the recipes that I used to download from the internet and work on them with patience. However, I always ended up with burnt pies or undercooked pizza doughs. It was hilarious for my family to see me trying and failing miserably. However, one day I decided to follow my mother’s cooking recipe. I was able to create the dish perfectly then. One of the best things I like about cooking is that I can experiment on food. I don’t enjoy cooking as a daily chore, but it’s something that I do as a hobby. I love the sound of patties in hot oil, sizzling as they are being fried. I enjoy cutting the colorfully exotic vegetables. The smell of spices and different flavor oozing from my kitchen excite me and make me feel like I am doing something worthwhile. People think a hobby is something you do that you are really good at, but for me it’s different. My hobby is writing and I have been doing it since the age of 5. One of the top reasons is that I love travelling, and since I don’t afford travelling so often, I can travel from the Mediterranean islands to the beaches of Florida, from the 16 th Century to the 18 th Century, all through my books. My father realized my passion in an early age and got me a membership to my city’s library. Soon, I started enjoying painting so much that I bought oil paints and started painting cartoon characters on the wall of our backyard.

When my father found out, he acted like he is very furious about it. But later in the day he went out and brought more colors and canvases for me so I can create better paintings and polish this hobby as much as I want to. Then I used to draw on canvases and paint them and hang them around in our house. All the guests used to praise my art and drawings a lot and this gave me a confidence boost to know that I am good at something.

I don’t call myself artist, as painting and drawing don’t come naturally to me. It is rather something that I have perfected over the years as I liked doing it. If I have to study painting and drawing I would have never enjoyed it as I don’t like to put boundaries on my art. I like the fact that I am not doing this for a living and that I am not studying it in college. This means that I don’t have to be perfect at it, but enjoy it as I create paintings that are messy and creative. I believe hobbies should never be tied into a profession or education, but they are something that a person should keep for their own happiness.

I have painted over 100 portraits till now. Painting and drawing is something that makes me feel calm and creative. Now that I have developed this talent of writing, I like painting for myself so it makes me happy. Painting and Drawing are a hobby that have become inseparable from me now. It has become not only my favorite pastime but also one of widely appreciated talents.

To start with, I doubt if there is anyone without a hobby. We all have things we consciously or unconsciously spend our spare time on. Mine is sketching. To sketch is to make a rough drawing of something.

I remember sketching my parents and siblings at just seven. At some point, I would have to abandon school work just to sketch – that is just how much I love sketching. Sketching, for me, is not just a hobby. I have a passion for sketching.

As a kid, I would spend most nights at my window looking at the beauty of the City at night. I would admire the stars, the moon and the serenity of the environment. These admirations mostly ended as sketchings on my desk. I made a big file for myself, and I would carry it everywhere I went to, especially on weekends.

I have been caught on many occasions staring at beautiful couples, kids, girls, and boys. It makes me look insane, though, but I do not mind. The images I memorize of them automatically become my next sketching.

In grade one, I nearly dumped sketching because I had lots of school work, and I had these intelligent friends that I did not want to lose. I had to leave sketching and study so hard so as to make good grades. My result was among the best, but I ended up missing my sketching work.

I had to plead with my parents to have a tour in the town during that holiday. I used the opportunity to take a beautiful look for my sketches. I really had a long list of things to sketch, but it was not even an issue.

I try to give Life to my sketches, and they never ceased to earn smiles from admirers. Some of my friends invite me to their home and introduce me to their parents as an artist. Sometimes, I go with a present to show how good I am in sketching.

When I become so sad, and I feel depressed, I take a picture of me and begin to sketch – that way, I get busy and become alright afterward. I have a dream of becoming a marriage counselor, but my friends think I would be better as an artist. This is one thing about a hobby.

They might not be our means of livelihood, but they are so soothing. They help us to relax. They make us have a pretty view of our world. My best friend loves to listen to music as her hobby. When she is so down, she uses music to lift her broken spirit.

This is the same effect sketching has on me. It may not be a source of livelihood, but it is my inspiration. When I sketch couples in love, I believe love is real and that one day it will come to me. When I sketch the sun, I hope for a beautiful day.

When I sketch someone who is sad, I know someone really cares for me. I find so much solace in sketching, and I find it so difficult to give them out to people. I decorate my room with them.

When they are worn out, I replace them with even better ones. Sometimes, I paste some of them in my elder brother’s room, and on one occasion, we ended up fighting, and my drawing sheets were torn.

In grade three, my dad enrolled me in a sketching competition. I told him I would not participate. I do not want to compete with my sketchings. Each of them has a soothing effect on me, so I refused the competition.

I have more works to do now. I am currently writing my final exams in College. They have actually pushed me away from my drawing board, but I hope to soon return to my drawing board. I anticipate the end of exams.

After my final exams, I will hold a little party in celebration of successful college years, and then I will relax for a week. I would spend other free time on tours, and the tours will fetch me a long list of items to sketch.

I want to visit the motherless baby home to see how happy they are, and then I will sketch their happy faces. I will visit the most popular beach in my area at night to take a look at the calmness of the water at night.

I hope one of my children inherits sketching from me. I do not want the art to die with me.

A hobby is directly connected to our interest in what we like to do in our free time. A person loves to play, read, dance, sing etc in his or her extra time, so this is a hobby for him or her. A hobby has nothing to do with your age.

Everybody must have a hobby because it refreshes our minds from time to time and saves us from our daily routine. Hobby keeps our minds sharp and excels in our memory power. Without a hobby, a man is alive only not enjoying life because a hobby brings great enthusiasm and removes mental stress from our life.

Some hobbies keep us physically fit and keep us away from many diseases whereas some are good for mental exercise which creates an entry barrier to anxiety.

I have many hobbies. Among them, I love reading biographical novels and gardening in my free time. Reading novels constructs the psychological brain and helps to understand the deep and harsh reality of great personalities.

Biographical novels are full of events of those people who have lived the same life and encouraged themselves during the odd times. It keeps the stories of impossible to possible journey, a dark to bright life, a hopeless end to endless hope and the moment of breaking to cracking.  

It kicks a person to do something big and realise the true potential of life. A biographical novel does nothing but fuel a man with positive desires and a will to never stop till the goal is hit. I have the resolution to hit at least 100 biographical novels till the year closes.

I always get inspired by the life of golden achievers. I love planting trees. It keeps our environment green and oxygen-rich. Trees are the enemies of pollution and help us to live a long and disease-free life.  I always plant a tree in a month in my garden and take complete responsibility for its care until it is not young.

I water all the plants and love to talk with the little plants. They respond to my love in different gestures. I am very much satisfied and happy with my life because of gardening nature.

A man or woman needs some space away from their professional life. The modern world is full of tension, and depression. anxiety etc. They need a little peace out of their professional life.   A man gets tired from his office and needs some time to refresh his mind and hobby fulfil the same space.

A woman feels bored by daily household work and needs to follow her interest. So, the hobby seems a boon for both men and women both. Even a child these days is in depression due to the career pressure in life.

A hobby can help a student to think in positive ways and can bring career growth. In the modern era, a hobby can be turned into an aim and a person can generate lots of money that can manage all his dream finances.

We are human beings and cannot work continuously like a machine. We need some break in our regular work and listen to our hearts. The hobby is the only way to reduce our professional load and keep moving in a smooth way.

A hobby is a great source to hunt for happiness. In the modern world, everybody is busy with their respective work. Even, though we don’t have much time to spend with our family members. We are running to catch everything in the world but sometimes lose our loved ones because of the communication gap and not being in regular touch.

The children are unable to share their feelings and feel depressed. The hobby can help them to conquer their depressed life. The hobby can make you stress-free and help to scale your career.

A hobby or something you enjoy adds interest and charm to your day. I'm going to talk to you about my favourite pastime, which is dancing. Today, practically everyone is so busy keeping up with their busy schedules that they feel short of time. Similar is the case with me, as I need to devote a huge amount of time to my studies, entrance exam preparations, and coaching. However, I ensure that I spare at least 30 minutes a day to dance. Dancing relieves me of the day’s stress and I feel energetic to swiftly finish all tasks at hand. I am a good dancer, and have been awaredec various prizes in school for my wins in different competitions.

Out of my many interests, I would call reading my favourite hobby. I like to read for fun. Reading not only makes us happy but also broadens our understanding. Reading is a crucial activity that aids in developing skills and is beneficial. A good book makes us happy and also expands our knowledge. I make sure that I read at least for an hour everyday, which is usually before going to bed. Reading at bedtime not only relaxes my mind, but also welcomes a good night’s sleep.

Why it is important to read books is because:-

Expands Knowledge | We know that reading books broadens our understanding of various topics. Different books touch upon different themes. Some educate us in Hindi, while others instruct us in Math or English.

Enriches Vocabulary | We pick up new words through reading books. It assists us in incorporating numerous unique and valuable terms into our daily lives.

Gives Peace | There is no physical exercise involved in reading books; instead, it is a very relaxing habit. It can be carried out in total silence and promotes inner tranquilly.

Fosters Imagination | Reading is a great way to improve our imagination, since, it is natural for human beings to create visuals in their mind of what they read in text. So, the more one reads, the more they imagine.

If I have to choose one out of all my hobbies, I will choose cricket. One of the most well-known sports in India is cricket. It is one of the sports practised widely in practically every country. The equipment needed for this activity is a wooden bat and a ball. There are two teams in this game, each with eleven players. The goal of this game is to score the most runs possible. This game is played outside on a field maintained explicitly for the occasion.

I have many interests, but I enjoy playing cricket the most. It also keeps me energised and helps me feel stronger and healthier. My interest in cricket began when I was just five years old. I was drawn to it as a sport and was enthralled by this activity. I used to be so hurried when I got home from school that I would play cricket right after eating my supper. I was a well-known student-athlete at the school.

Dhoni: My Inspiration

Like many other people, I was inspired to start playing by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former Indian cricket team captain. My goal is to play like Dhoni. Even though I’m generously appreciated by my spectators during my matches, I am usually never delighted. I've always aimed to outperform myself. My love of cricket helped me become well-known in my school. In addition, I received a certificate commending me on the day of my school farewell.

Cricket, like any other physical sport, has several advantages for the physical and mental health of those who play it. Some of the benefits of playing cricket are listed here:-

Even domestic cricket players have the potential to make a nice living. A cricket player's life is incredibly glitzy and regal.

We seldom have time to ourselves in the hectic and competitive world. Our schedule becomes incredibly dull and repetitive over time. We must indulge in something in between to keep our ideas lively and fresh. What could be better for this than a hobby? Having a hobby significantly reduces stress is one of its main advantages. It truly makes you happy to do it and fills your soul. Cricket is a fantastic pastime. Gardening is my favourite hobby. I learnt it from my father and grandmother. In the beginning, I found it to be messy and time-consuming, but all that changed when I harvested my first carrots. The joy of eating food that you can grow on your own cannot be compared to store-bought fruits and vegetables. We have a garden full of fruit-bearing plants and plenty of vegetables, including carrots, radish, and brinjal. Gardening is also very relaxing. I love the smell of a freshly watered garden in the summer evenings. The sight of flowers and butterflies takes me to a completely different world.

Reading books is an important hobby to pursue. It is a good way to learn new things and develop our vocabulary. It also teaches us to focus on a topic for a long time and solve problems or understand difficult subjects. I have a huge collection of books in my library in the room. My favourite books are science encyclopedias. They have plenty of useful information and interesting pictures about everything in the world. I also like storybooks that have funny stories and good morals. My grandfather always reads stories to me during bedtime.

Everybody in my house reads books. It is a habit that runs in the family. My parents always tell me that reading makes us smarter as we learn new things and gain new perspectives. Reading is also important to learn how to write well, as my grandpa tells me all the time. Although I read to learn more about things and build my vocabulary, most of the books I read are for my fun. I enjoy reading books and want to keep adding new books to my library.

‘My Hobby’ is a topic which children would love to write about. Everybody likes talking about their favourite activity. Since your child takes a keen interest in this particular activity, they will be full of ideas to narrate. Through this essay, your child will learn about various types of hobbies people have and all the benefits that come from them. They will reflect upon what they are learning from their fun activities and think about how they can practice and work hard to improve upon it. They will also learn to channel their thoughts and express them clearly in written language.

I was born and raised in a working-class city, Elektrostal, Moscow region. I received a higher education in television in Moscow. I studied to be a documentary photographer. My vision of the aesthetics of the frame was significantly influenced by the aesthetics of my city – the endless forests and swamps of the Moscow region with endless factories, typical architecture and a meagre color palette. In this harsh world, people live and work, raise children, grow geranium, throw parties and live trouble, run a ski cross. They are the main characters of my photo projects.

I study a person in a variety of circumstances. We blog with friends with stories of such people. We are citizen journalists. In my works, I touch upon the topics of homelessness, people’s attitude to their bodies, sexual objectification, women’s work, alienation and living conditions of different people. The opportunity to communicate with my characters gives me a sense of belonging and modernity of life.

My photos create the effect of presence, invisible observation of people. I don’t interfere with what’s going on, I’m taking the place of an outside observer. I’m a participant in exhibitions in Rome (Loosenart Gallery), Collaborated with the Russian Geographical Community.
