How to Describe a Beautiful Woman in a Story

1. Alluring

Something or someone very attractive .

“The beautiful woman was alluring . Everywhere she went, eyes followed.”

“He watched the alluring woman as she walked through the room. Her beauty was hard to ignore.”

How it Adds Description

“Alluring” emphasizes the extent of your fictional woman’s beauty and implies that other characters are fascinated by it. You can use “alluring” to show how her beauty catches people’s attention, and the woman could use this to her advantage. If another character describes her beauty as “alluring,” it could hint that they want to get to know her more or find her very attractive.

2. Stunning

Somebody extremely impressive or beautiful .

“The woman was simply stunning . No one could deny her features were carved by angels.”

“The stunning woman always received invitations from model scouts, but she wasn’t interested in that career.”

“Stunning” is another great way to elevate your woman’s beauty. However, this word shows her beauty is universally agreed upon and not linked to being attracted to her. Other characters may be jealous of her “stunning” looks, as these could grant her special opportunities and better treatment from others.

3. Arrogant

Someone who believes they’re more important than others and behaves in an unpleasant way.

“The beautiful woman was nice to look at, but she was too arrogant to talk to. No wonder she had no friends.”

“The arrogant woman used her beauty to get what she wanted. However, many of her peers saw through this act.”

Sometimes, a character with beautiful looks is aware of it and uses it to their advantage, thus making them “arrogant.” If your woman is “arrogant,” she likely has few friends and annoys other people very quickly. Other characters might avoid the “arrogant” woman altogether.

4. Compassionate

Someone who shows understanding and sympathy for others.

“The beautiful woman was compassionate , and this surprised many. It upset her that people assumed she was conceited.”

“The compassionate woman always cared for animals and children. Underneath her beauty was a heart of gold.”

If you want to give more insight into your beautiful woman’s personality, “compassionate” can show they’re a kind person. Some characters might be shocked to hear she’s “compassionate,” as often people assume attractive people are stuck-up.

5. Flawless

Someone that has no faults and is extremely good.

“The team was stumped by the beautiful woman. She was absolutely flawless .”

“She’d never seen such a flawless woman. Until this point, she believed such beauty only existed on TV.”

“Flawless” is an excellent way to reinforce the perfection of your woman’s beauty. Other characters may find her “flawless” beauty amazing, and this could attract lots of attention to her. Alternatively, some characters may be jealous of her looks and act out towards her.

6. Confident

Someone who is sure of their own ideas, qualities, and ideas.

“The beautiful woman was confident , no doubt about it. You could tell she knew her effect on others as she walked through the door.”

“He glanced across the platform and saw a beautiful woman. She was confident and waved back at him.”

If your character is bold or self-assured, “confidence” is an apt word to describe them. Her “confidence” could make her a friendly character, as she’s not scared to talk to new people. This could make her a great leader, and other characters could look up to her for advice or guidance.

7. Captivating

Someone or something that attracts or fascinates others.

“He lay in bed thinking about the captivating woman. Her beauty was driving him crazy, and he needed to see her again.”

“The captivating woman found her beauty frustrating. She just wanted to blend in, but she couldn’t help but draw attention from others.”

“Captivating” shows the effect of the fictional woman’s beauty on others. This means her good looks are unforgettable, and many find them difficult to ignore. She could either love this attention or find it extremely troubling. Other characters may even start stalking her, as her “captivating” looks are hard to ignore.

8. Extraordinary

Something or somebody with extremely special qualities or looks.

“She knew she looked extraordinary , and she basked in the attention. Usually, it made her uncomfortable, but tonight she’d embrace it.”

“The extraordinary woman appeared in her dreams again. Her beauty was unbelievable.”

“Extraordinary” implies that the woman’s beauty is extremely good, which might often make her the most beautiful woman in the room. Other characters may find this intriguing, and it might make her more memorable to others.

Someone who isn’t proud and doesn’t believe they’re better than others.

“The humble woman quietly ate her lunch. She didn’t notice everyone else in the room staring at her beauty.”

“Every time someone complimented her on her beauty, she blushed. In that respect, she was a humble person.”

If you want to show that your beautiful woman doesn’t believe she’s better than others, “humble” is a great word to use. This implies her personality is not affected by her attractiveness, and it might make her popular with others, too. If another describes her as “humble,” they might be impressed with her normal attitude.

Discussing Her Physical Appearance

• Think of the most general description you might start with if you had to describe a suspect to the police, or the types of physical information that you might find on a driver's license.
• For example, your first impression might be that the girl is Caucasian, in her mid-teens, tall, and husky.

• For example, you could say, “She has thick, naturally curly hair that hangs a little bit below her shoulders. It's dark brown with a few caramel-colored highlights.”
• If she has a striking hairstyle or a distinctive dye job, make sure to point that out. For example, “Her hair is cut short and styled into a faux hawk. It's dyed cotton candy blue at the tips.”

• The eyes are one of the most identifiable features of a person's face, so make sure to describe them. Focus on things like their color and shape. For example, “Her eyes are almond-shaped and very dark brown.”
• When describing her whole face, you might say something like, “She has a wide, round face with a pointed chin. Her eyes are big and greyish-green, with dark eyelashes. Her nose is short and a little turned up at the end.”

• You might also make note of other obvious skin features, like freckles or rosy cheeks.
• For example, you could say, “She has fair skin with a few freckles on her nose,” or “Her skin is golden-brown with a subtle rosy glow around her cheeks.”

• Depending on the context, it might not be appropriate to use these kinds of judgmental or subjective descriptions. If you're describing a real person, be sensitive to how she might feel if she heard or read your description.

Talking about Her Personality and Mannerisms

• For example, you might say, “Sarah is kind of shy at first, but she opens up a lot once you get to know her. She's very smart and has a wicked sense of humor.”

• For example, “Florence loves writing, and she wants to be a published author someday. She's very passionate about social justice issues.”

• You can also talk about the sound of her voice. Is it high and childish, or deep and mature-sounding? Mellow, or harsh?
• For example, you could say, “She has a quiet voice and speaks in a very level tone. Her speech is slow and deliberate, and she always takes a moment to think about what she wants to say before talking.”

• Describe how she uses her hands when she is speaking. Does she gesture a lot, or does she usually sit still with her hands in her lap?
• Discuss whether her stance tends to be open and confident (arms at her sides, head up) or closed off and defensive (arms folded in front of her chest, gaze down or off to the side).
• Talk about her facial expressions. Does she smile a lot and make eye contact? Is she more likely to frown or have a blank expression?
• You could say something like, “She's very animated. Her hands are always in motion when she's talking.”

• For example, maybe she chews her fingernails or twirls her hair around her fingers when she's talking to someone.
• Maybe she clears her throat a lot or uses certain phrases all the time (e.g., starting every other sentence with “Yeah, so, anyway . . .”).

Describing a Girl in Creative Writing

• For example, “She was a young girl, no more than 15, with a narrow face and dark, fierce eyes. She was all straight lines and hard angles except for her cloud of downy brown hair.”
• Don't linger over the minute details of her hairstyle, clothing, and physical dimensions unless they are directly relevant to what is happening in the moment you are describing. Just sketch out the basics.

• For example, instead of saying “She had really pale blue eyes,” try something like “Her eyes were the color of sea foam.”
• Instead of saying “Her hair was long and light brown,” try “Her hair cascaded down her back like a honey-colored waterfall.”

• For example, instead of saying “Lily thought everything was funny,” try something like: “Lily had dissolved into helpless giggles again. It didn't take much to set her off. She once laughed through an entire algebra lecture after the professor sneezed while explaining how to find the slope of a line.”

• For example, “Her voice was like warm molasses poured over fluffy brown sugar.”

• Instead of saying, “She had long, black hair that she wore in a ponytail,” try something like: “'Let's go,' she said, quickly pulling her black hair into a ponytail that swept her shoulder blades as she walked.”

Being A Girl- Descriptive Essay

Being a girl can become a difficult life style. Between our stages in life, staggering attitudes and emotions… I don’t know how we would get through it.

I myself am a girl, born and raised as one; so I know first hand that I can be very frail and take many chances. I’m also the target for a lot of people, for emotional support and other things. My parents depend a lot on me to take care of things when they can’t, especially because I'm the only girl.

I recall my 5 th grade classroom, the desks were set up in rows of six, and I sat in the middle row, of a large room filled with an average sized class. And that’s where he sat, right there in front of me; now being a female in a male bias world I found that most guys don’t expect you to know how to fight. And that’s where he made his mistake. His name was Tommy and he tried to take my pencil, this might not seem like a big deal now but ever since I was younger, I had an “obsessive compulsive disorder” type of thing; I absolutely positively could not stand to have people touching my things, or things that I had previously touched. So I asked him kindly to please not touch my things…he didn’t quite listen. He continued to grab for my book bag when I told him again “DO NOT TOUCH MY THINGS” I was getting madder and he didn’t seem to comprehend the level of seriousness displayed in my threatening tone. “Shut up” he snapped back at me “don’t be a tattle tale”. “I wont,” I said through my teeth “but stop touching my things” with an angry shove, he pushed me. In rebuttal, I shoved him back.

Ever since my early days of childhood, I had always been a fighter. I had to fight to get where I was going, and I learned that a lot of people are really big bullies and if you don’t do what they tell you, they tend to get really pissed. Following his shove, he attempted to hit me; When I noticed what he was about to do I ducked and hit him where my mom told me to hit any guy who tried to put their hands on me. I threw my leg back and in one full-fledged kick, my foot met him in a not so pleasant place and he instantly hit the ground. He didn’t seem so tough now as he lay curled up on the floor sobbing. That was the earliest experience I can recall where someone made me feel puny because of my gender.

Ever since I was younger, this problem frustrated me, the problem of male bias that seemed so prominent in the world and especially in my life. Just because I’m a dress wearing, pony tailed, doll playing human doesn’t mean I’m not as tough as anyone else in this world. I believe that since girls have a different in sight look of things, people think we’re weak, and powerless.

Fathers always expect their sons to be the tough ones, while the girls are supposed to be the sensitive ones, the ones who cry when they fall not the boys. Mothers always teach their daughters to clean and cook before they grow older. Girls are taught to be mothers of animals-09 and baby dolls while boys are being taught to be Harley riders and wrestlers. Girls are taught that in a dress you’re a princess and no one could change that. Boys are taught that the more muscles you have the more people like you.

Girls walking around in short skirts, short shorts and tight clothes just to get the attention of another person. To me people aren’t important id much rather go outside feeling comfortable then to go out wondering “does this shirt look right?” or “is this the right fit?”. I clearly don’t care what people think of me, people have their own opinions and thoughts of what a girl is supposedly supposed to say, wear and look.

My older cousin thinks that every girl is suppose to be mega skinny, always dress nice, and have long hair. Every time I go around him he makes the choice to piss me off, and say stuff like why don’t you ever have your hair done and what happen to your nice clothes and you really go outside like that. This would piss me off a lot if I cared what he really thought. I don’t I think if I accept the way I am, headstrong and beautiful, then I should not listen to how someone else thoughts about me is. Yeah I know a lot of people worry that this wont happen that wont happen. I am still a girl, but I rather go by it the way I think everything should fall into place. Easily and comfortably, just like I have been. I like playing football, I like running around, I like wrestling, and doing my make-up. Everything is even out for me. Just because I like doing things like a boy doesn’t mean I’m not a girl. Just because I dress and look a certain way doesn’t mean people wont like me because I have a boyfriend, and he loves me the way I am.

My mom expects me to be that girly girl she had always wanted, but I’m not. I love being the hard worker I am. I work to succeed in life not to impress others. I want to go to culinary school, not because I’m expected to cook but because I love making people surprised and happy in what I make for them.

By being a girl I am setting a line. Yes I will do my hair, yes I like dressing nicely, and yes I do wear make-up. I will not be criticized by what I want to do and what I like to do. I may be girly but I can still roughhouse, fight, and play rough. Yes I am a girl and I will still cook, not because you want me to but because I love to cook for others and myself. Yes I am a girl so I will settle down one day, but with someone who see’s me as a person not as a play toy. Someone who understands, that I am as much as a person as they are. Someone who believes love doesn’t come from the outside of your body but from the inside of your soul, someone who understands me, cares for me, and respects me.

             Imagine if you can a beautiful young woman, perhaps the most beautiful woman you have ever seen. Her hair is a light blonde color, it almost reminds you of the color of a sunbeam as it passes through a window. As you look at her hair you notice the way the light catches in it and it shimmers as it flows with her every move. Your eyes are drawn to the fact that her hair is very lengthy reaching down to the middle of her torso, so long in fact that it almost caresses the small of her back. When you run your fingers through her hair it feels as though you are touching some of the finest silken fabric ever woven. Soft, and almost liquid like, her hair seems to flow over your fingers like water as you touch it. You find yourself wanting to bury your face in her hair, as if to hide from the world and all the problems it holds for you on a daily basis. As you look at, and touch her hair it seems to take grasp of your mind and deny you of any other thoughts about anything else going on around you.              Her beautiful face is demanding of attention. Its high cheekbones calling your eyes to the statuesque bone structure underlying its gentleness. She has been graced with a look that could be that of royalty. Her tight, rose colored lips are pursed in what appears to be mid-kiss. The slight hint of moisture on her lips making them glisten in the light, causing them to look as though they are really a reflection on the waters of a pond and not really a part of her at all. They seem to call out to you, beckoning you to lean in and press your lips against hers. Fantastic Beasts and Other Creatures Abound in May’s Graphic Novels

There be monsters in four new volumes out this month (yes, even in “Nancy”).

The seven-year wait since Emil Ferris published her debut graphic novel has felt far longer than that, but MY FAVORITE THING IS MONSTERS, BOOK 2 (Fantagraphics, 412 pp., $44.99) is finally here, and now the first book is no longer in a class by itself. There is apparently nothing Ferris can’t render: A cartoony girl-werewolf — her protagonist, Karen Reyes, drawn as she sees herself — seems to flow from her multicolored ballpoint pens as easily as Jan Sanders van Hemessen’s musclebound Judith , standing contrapposto next to the head of Holophernes on one memorable page, wields her sword.

And that’s part of the point. Ferris is drawing a murder mystery and a story about Chicago in the 1960s and a coming-of-age tale, but she’s also interested in all the ways that high art is in conversation with low art. Her gangsters, drag queens and hippie philosophers might be aliens or vampires from a sleazy magazine on one page, but they could just as easily populate a Picasso or a Goya drawing on the next. There’s a page of Medusa as the Mona Lisa that feels like the book’s cri de coeur: Why shouldn’t beauty and monstrosity peacefully coexist within the same subject?

This is not merely an artistic problem. Karen’s beloved brother, Deeze, is devoted and protective, but he’s also brutally violent. And as Karen tentatively gets more comfortable being gay, she learns that one of her neighbors, Anka, a Holocaust survivor, has been murdered — a fact made all the more tragic because of the terrible things she did to survive.

Ferris doesn’t tie up all these plot threads; she revels in the contradictions rather than resolving them. A prequel, “Records of the Damned,” is reportedly already in the works, and somehow my anticipation for the next volume is already exactly the right kind of pleasant agony.

Last year when the artist Martin Simmonds was at New York Comic Con, he let curious passers-by flip through a beautiful portfolio of pages he had for sale. The most striking would become leaves for UNIVERSAL MONSTERS: DRACULA (Image/Skybound, 120 pp., $24.99) , drawn, painted and collaged by Simmonds and written by his frequent collaborator James Tynion IV. Those pages, with lace glued to them and gutters drawn with what looked like correction tape, are featured in this condensed “Dracula” story, a lush volume that plays up Mina Harker’s attraction to the Transylvanian count.

Simmonds and Tynion have produced less an adaptation of the 1931 Universal Studios film, as the cover suggests, than a tone poem on its themes, which is all to the good. The script is spare and the images are generous and baroque; often, they sweep across pages and beyond borders, and Dracula himself gains a dreamlike quality. Little wonder that their Mina is so thoroughly seduced.

Despite a charming visual style that looks like a 1990s Cartoon Network offering and a cover that promises “six twisted tales of adorable horror,” Jay Stephens’s DWELLINGS (Oni Press, 272 pp., $34.99) is both a single, rewardingly complicated narrative and decidedly not for kids. The story concerns a little Canadian town called Elwich, populated by an encyclopedic variety of scary-story protagonists: There’s the family on the lam from the mob, the woman whose puppet talks to her, and a demonic possession.

The characters are simple and their demises are satisfyingly horrible, a bit like especially gory episodes of “The Twilight Zone,” but that is only the plot. The icing is as much fun as the cake here: Each issue begins with an “advertisement” hawking cheap toys and magic tricks to kids, but the descriptive text is both funny (Existentialism, item No. 3306, is only $1.98) and very worrying. It’s the sort of thing you can enjoy once, and then resolve not to read again because it was too disturbing and then immediately pick back up.

The boom in reprinting classic newspaper comics somehow missed Ernie Bushmiller’s astounding “Nancy,” a strip that manages to reduce much of what makes comics work to its barest essence. (And yes, monsters dwell here as well.) It does this by making you laugh, and the editor Denis Kitchen has filled NANCY & SLUGGO’S GUIDE TO LIFE (New York Review Comics, 148 pp., $24.95) with many of Bushmiller’s best gags.

Bushmiller drew the strip for 44 years, and, unlike with Charles M. Schulz’s “Peanuts” or Frank King’s “Gasoline Alley,” there was no deep psychology or narrative engine, so “Nancy” occasionally repeated itself. Here, Kitchen doles out little bits of Bushmiller’s unchanging but inarguable genius with scientific precision. He’s separated the book into three themes: Money, Food and Sleep, with the last being the strangest and most fun. (It is also probably the least funny, but who cares?)

It’s a showcase for Bushmiller’s prodigious drawing skills, which he played down his whole career. One terrific strip has Nancy being swatted by a giant mosquito; another has ghouls, ghosts and devils chasing her through her dreams and inspiring her to open a haunted house. All of them, through that peculiar Bushmiller magic, take longer to describe than they do to read and enjoy.
