My Favourite game essay-Playing games are very important for a human being. It keeps a man fit. Moreover, it keeps him away from diseases. Having some physical hobby is essential for a person. Tennis , badminton, etc. Since in India the famous game is cricket many children are having it as a hobby. But my favorite is football.

My Favorite Game – Football

When I was a child I liked cricket too but was never good at it. So I changed my hobby to football . Football was new to me in class 3. I did not play well in the beginning. But I liked the game very much. So I started practicing it. As a result, I began to play it well.

In class 5 I became the captain of my class football team. At that time I was so much excited to become the captain. With time a learned a lot about football.

In Football total 22 players play. Division of players is in two teams. Each team has 11 players. These players have to play with the ball only with legs. They have to kick the ball in the other teams’ goal post. Football is not like cricket. Weather is not an issue in football. Due to which players can play it the whole year.

In addition to football is a game of stamina. The players have to run on the field for the whole game. Also for 90 minutes too. Since 90 minutes is a lot there is a division in time. There are two halves. The first is of 45 minutes. Likewise, the second half is of 45 minutes too.

Rules in the Game

Like all the other games there are some rules and regulations too. First of all, the ball should not touch the ball by hand. If the ball gets touched by hand the other team gets a free-kick. There is a small area near the goal post. ‘D’ is the name of that area. The boundary of the ‘D’ is at least 10 yards from the goal post. If the player touches the ball there the opposite team gets a penalty.

Moreover, there are other rules. The second important rule is the ‘Off-Side Rule’. In this rule, if the player crosses the defender line it becomes an offside. If you are a true fan of football you must know what are defenders.

In the game, the players are into three subcategories. The first category is Forward. Forward are players who put the ball in the net of the goal post. The second category is a Midfielder. Midfielders are players who pass the ball to the forward player. The third category is the defenders. Defenders stop the other team players to put the ball in the goal post.

In addition to all the players playing on the field, there are other players too. These are substitute players. Football is a harsh game. Because of which many players get injured. When players get injured the substitutes take their place for the rest of the game.

Furthermore, there is a referee on the field. Whenever any place does a foul the referee whistles and stops the game. The referee then gives the penalty or a free-kick to the team foul against.

Moreover, if a player injures and fouls the other team player the referee gives him a Yellow or Red Card. The yellow card is a warning card. The red card is a suspension card. This card suspends the player for the rest of the game.

My Favourite Game is Badminton

My favourite game is badminton among all the games. It was during winter days when my mother used to wake us early in the morning for walking and studying. Since I could not study in the morning therefore I decided to play badminton in the morning. It proved to be a great exercise for me and keeping healthy. I also have the problem of mood swing and this game made me feel relaxed.

Since I had got a good practice of playing badminton, I got selected in my school badminton team. I feel energized after playing badminton. Many of the times I had played from my school side and have received the awards too. I had got a craze for this game and therefore I used to reach to the ground on time for playing with my friends.

Hockey is an international game and played throughout the world. It is the national game of India. We have many of the best players in hockey in our country. Our country team has also bagged up many of the Olympic medals and trophies for winning.

It is sad to state that growth and fame of this sport have reduced from many years. Sports hockey is not getting any support over the other games like cricket in India. There is no heed towards the growth of this sport in our country. We do not have good facilities and playgrounds to support and train the aspirants. Since this game had a good history and also is our national game, therefore must be supported by the government.

The cricket field has a 22-yard long pitch, and all the events happening on the field are overseen and decided by the umpire of the match.

As I was more into cricket, I started to admire Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, M.S. Dhoni, Chris Gayle and many other international cricketers. I took their inspiration and started playing cricket with my neighbourhood friends. Since I was really small and people of different ages used to play with us, they only let me field.

I was not too good at the start, but as I grew up, I got better at playing cricket. I was better at bowling than batting. Sometimes we would have small cricket matches with the children from the colony nearby. We agreed upon the prize money that the losing team had to give to the winning team. Most of the time, we used to lose, but every match was worth playing. We had a fun time playing the game.

In conclusion, Cricket gives me a sense of relating to something global or bigger than myself. It is also a great sporting activity to keep my body fit. I prefer playing outdoor games to playing mobile or computer games. These games help us build our stamina and keep our minds and body healthy through physical activities.

There are so many games in this world. I know I played a large portion of them throughout my childhood. There were games like baseball, football, and other active games. Also, there were party games that I did not care for at all.

Finally, there were board games. This was the category with the largest amount of games on it. There was a board game for just about anything you could think of. We had Monopoly, the Game of Life, Parcheesi, but we hardly had time to play them.

I guess my parents wanted us, kids, to stay busy and not bother them as we had a whole closet full of games we could play if it rained outside and we got bored. I guess out of all the games we had chess was my favorite.

It was not like checkers which did not seem like it had any real strategy to it. There was a strategy to play chess properly and that appealed to me. It was also a lot more interesting than checkers was as you already had a king on the board.

It did seem strange to me that the King was above the queen but the queen had all the power. That made the queen my favorite piece though I liked the power of the rook and the bishop as well.

The knight wasn’t far behind because he could do something a queen could not do, change direction mid-move. Although I was able to develop a potent pawn attack, I never really liked pawns.

They could not move very fast and they were the most vulnerable piece on the board. The attribute I liked most in the pawn was that it could protect the rook, the bishop and the knight from the opposing queen and her fellow power pieces.

What also made chess interesting to me is that I could play it by myself when I wanted to practice my strategy. The other games were designed to have at least one more player present for it to be of any good.

Then with chess, I could also play the game through the mail. A friend and I would write letters back and forth sending each other our next move. This was a very slow way to play the game but we got to think about our moves and analyze our opponent’s next moves before we made ours.

The only thing that got to me about chess is that it can be a slow game to play. I am not talking about playing games through the mail. The game itself, with a player right across the board from you sometimes went too slow and took 15 minutes for every move.

That made the game very boring and kept me from playing in tournaments and on different chess teams. I enjoyed the strategy and the combative nature that comes with chess, but the slow moves were killers. I almost went to sleep several times waiting for my opponent to move.

One year I did play in a tournament and that was a mistake.. I did not win enough games to get very high on the board but I was able to get high enough to be a spoiler. A spoiler is someone who is not quite good enough to win it all but just good enough to win a key game that would keep a star player from winning.

This tournament was a friend of mine. He needed just one win to move on up to the next round. I was his next opponent and as friends do we talked. He pointed out the obvious he needed a win and it would be great if I lost the game on purpose since I had no chance of going further in the tournament.

If I did that, he could move up and have a good chance of winning. Well, he was my friend so I did the honorable thing and lost on purpose. It was honorable in our eyes out no one else’s.

I am not sure what happened after that in the tournament but I did not play chess for a long time after that.

While playing, I even try to replicate his movements.

Being a football player has always helped me maintain my mental fitness. Almost every football player is physically qualified but not emotionally strong enough. A football player can have all the strength, stamina, agility, and talent in the world, but without the presence of mental toughness, they can disturbed mentally at any time or in any place.

An established football player will never give up without a fight and should be able to retain their speed and the sharpness of their goals until the very end of the match, regardless of how long they have played. This is where willpower comes into play. It has decisively established that drive helps excel in a large platform, distinguishing champions from others. It’s the same as the hare and also tortoise myth, where the tortoise’s determination to do consistently well was the one aspect that let him beat the hare.

My Favourite Game

Playing games is my favourite pastime and I like to play both indoors and outdoors. I play indoor board games with my parents and my sister on Sunday evenings. I love to go outdoors to play cricket and hide and seek with my friends, but nowadays, nobody goes to the playground. So, now my favourite game is Monopoly.

The best part about this board game is that only two players can play it and also eight players can play it together. When our parents are busy with their work and household chores, my sister and I take the board game to the terrace and play over there. These days, our parents and grandma join us in the game late in the evenings and all of us have a great time playing it. 

There are a total of 40 spaces on the board and there is a pair of dice that each of us rolls on the board to begin the game. There are ‘Go’, ‘Jail’, ‘Go to Jail’ and ‘Free Parking’ boxes on the four corners of the Monopoly board. We have to begin at ‘Go’ and move our game tokens as many spaces as the number on the dices. We can buy or build spaces from a total of 22 properties, Electric Company, Water Works and 4 railway stations. Some of the spaces on the board are marked as Community Chests and Chances, Luxury Tax and Income Tax. There is a set of Chance and Community Chest Cards that is kept at the centre of the Monopoly board. 

In this board game, each player gets a game token to move on the board and one of us plays the banker. The banker is in charge of all the money and distributes a total of 1500 game money to each player. When all of us play Monopoly, my grandma plays the banker and keeps all her share of 1500 game money in a red coloured case. 

The banker is in charge of the houses, hotels, and deed cards. Every time each of us passes the ‘Go’ space, the bank rewards 200 game money to the player. When we purchase a space on the board, we pay the bank for it and our grandma gives us the deed card for that space in return. When any player happens to visit a space owned by another player, he has to pay the rent on that space. The rent increases if the owner has houses or hotels in that space. The bank collects taxes from the players when they happen to visit that Income Tax box. 

When any of us has to visit the Jail space and misses his or her chance to play or pays a fine. The game continues for a long time until we all get tired and decide who the winner is. The player who has the maximum game money and property is crowned as the winner. Most of the time, my father wins the game and he treats us with ice cream when he wins. This board game has become my favourite during this vacation.
