About IGNOU Shimla Regional Center

The regional centre of Shimla is located in the prime location of the state with the jurisdiction of the entire Himachal Pradesh. It was established in 1989 October with just 8 study centres. At that time, the RC Shimla covered the area of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Chandigarh, and the regions of Himachal Pradesh. In the few later years, new regional centres were established for other parts like Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir etc. 

The regional centre of Shimla has 69 study centres with an annual enrollment of 9000 that offer distance education in various programs and courses.  The ODL system of Shimla Regional centre occupies one of the prominent positions in the state of Himachal Pradesh for delivering quality education to the students and thus it acts as a resource centre in that region.
