CUT NYAK DHIEN

Cut Nyak Dhien was a leader of the Acehnese guerrilla forces during the Aceh War. She was born in Lampadang in 1848. Following the death of her husband Teuku Umar, she led guerrilla actions against the Dutch for 25 years. She was awarded the title of Indonesian National Hero on 2 May 1964 by the Indonesian government. 

Cut Nyak Dhien adalah seorang pemimpin pasukan gerilya Aceh pada masa Perang Aceh. Ia lahir di Lampadang pada tahun 1848. Setelah kematian suaminya Teuku Umar, ia memimpin aksi gerilya melawan Belanda selama 25 tahun. Ia dianugerahi gelar Pahlawan Nasional Indonesia pada 2 Mei 1964 oleh pemerintah Indonesia.

Cut Nyak Dhien was born into an Islamic aristocratic family in Aceh Besar. Her father, Teuku Nanta Setia, was a member of the ruling Ulèë Balang aristocratic class in VI mukim, and her mother was also from an aristocratic family. She was educated in religion and household matters. She was renowned for her beauty, and many men proposed to marry her. Finally, she married Teuku Cik Ibrahim Lamnga, the son of an aristocratic family, when she was twelve.

Cut Nyak Dhien lahir dari keluarga bangsawan Islam di Aceh Besar. Ayahnya, Teuku Nanta Setia, adalah anggota bangsawan Ulèë Balang yang berkuasa di VI mukim, dan ibunya juga dari keluarga bangsawan. Dia dididik dalam urusan agama dan rumah tangga. Dia terkenal karena kecantikannya, dan banyak pria melamarnya. Akhirnya, dia menikah dengan Teuku Cik Ibrahim Lamnga, putra keluarga bangsawan, ketika dia berusia dua belas tahun.

On 26 March 1873, the Dutch declared war on Aceh. In November 1873, during the Second Aceh Expedition, the Dutch successfully captured VI mukimin 1873, followed by the Sultan’s Palace in 1874. In 1875, Cut Nyak Dhien and her baby, along with other mothers, were evacuated to a safer location while her husband Ibrahim Lamnga fought to reclaim VI mukim. Lamnga died in action on June 29, 1878. Hearing this, Cut Nyak Dhien was enraged and swore to destroy the Dutch.

Pada tanggal 26 Maret 1873, Belanda menyatakan perang terhadap Aceh. Pada bulan November 1873, dalam Ekspedisi Aceh Kedua, Belanda berhasil merebut VI mukimin tahun 1873, disusul dengan Keraton Yogyakarta pada tahun 1874.Pada tahun 1875, Cut Nyak Dhien dan bayinya bersama ibu-ibu lainnya dievakuasi ke tempat yang lebih aman sementara suaminya Ibrahim Lamnga berjuang untuk merebut kembali VI mukim. Lamnga tewas dalam aksi pada 29 Juni 1878. Mendengar hal itu, Cut Nyak Dhien murka dan bersumpah akan menghancurkan Belanda.

Sometime later, Teuku Umar proposed to marry her. Learning that Teuku Umar would allow her to fight, she accepted his proposal. They were married in 1880. This greatly boosted the morale of Aceh armies in their fight against Dutch. Teuku Umar and Cut Nyak Dhien had a daughter, Cut Gambang.

Beberapa waktu kemudian, Teuku Umar melamarnya. Mengetahui bahwa Teuku Umar akan mengizinkannya berperang, dia menerima lamarannya. Mereka menikah pada tahun 1880. Hal ini sangat meningkatkan moral tentara Aceh dalam melawan Belanda. Teuku Umar dan Cut Nyak Dhien memiliki seorang putri, Cut Gambang.

The war continued, and the Acehnese declared Holy War against the Dutch, and were engaged in guerrilla warfare. Undersupplied, Teuku Umar surrendered to the Dutch forces on September 30, 1893 along with 250 of his men. The Dutch army welcomed him and appointed him as a commander, giving him the title of Teuku Umar Johan Pahlawan. However, Teuku Umar secretly planned to betray the Dutch. Two years later Teuku Umar set out to assault Aceh, but he instead deserted with his troops taking with them heavy equipment, weapons, and ammunition, using these supplies to help the Acehnese. This is recorded in Dutch history as “Het verraad van Teukoe Oemar” (the treason of Teuku Umar).

The Dutch general Johannes Benedictus van Heutsz sent a spy to Aceh. Teuku Umar was killed during a battle when the Dutch launched a surprise attack on him in Meulaboh. When Cut Gambang cried over his death, Cut Nyak Dhien slapped her and then she hugged her and said: “As Acehnese women, we may not shed tears for those who have been martyred.”

After her husband died, Cut Nyak Dhien continued to resist the Dutch with her small army until its destruction in 1901, as the Dutch adapted their tactics to the situation in Aceh. Furthermore, Cut Nyak Dhien suffered from nearsightedness and arthritis as she got older. The number of her troops was also decreasing and they suffered from lack of supplies.

Setelah suaminya meninggal, Cut Nyak Dhien terus memerangi Belanda dengan pasukan kecilnya sampai kehancurannya pada tahun 1901, karena Belanda menyesuaikan taktik mereka dengan situasi di Aceh. Dhien was brought to Banda Aceh and her myopia and arthritis slowly healed, but in the end she was exiled to Sumedang, West Java because the Dutch were afraid she would mobilize the resistance of Aceh people. She died on 6 November 1908.

Cut Nyak Dhien

The Indonesian resistance fighter Cut Nyak Dhien (1848[?]–1908) was an important military leader in the struggle of her homeland. In the late 19th century, Dhien helped to defend the Aceh Sultanate, located on the island of Sumatra, against Dutch colonial invaders .

Cut Nyak Dhien (pronounced “Tchoot Nee-OCK dee-EN”) was motivated to join with others in a military struggle when her husband, Teuku Ibrahim Lamnga, was killed while fighting the Dutch forces invading Sumatra in 1878. Operating from a jungle base against large Dutch garrisons, Dhien and her second husband would lead a guerrilla war that destabilized Aceh for several decades and killed several top Dutch military leaders. Finally captured in 1901, Dhien was sent into exile on the island of Java, there to live among people who did not know who she was, and whose language she did not speak. They were nevertheless impressed by her knowledge of Islamic sacred texts, which she taught to local Javanese in her final years, and she is considered one of Indonesia's national heroes.

Grew Up in Uncolonized Area

Cut Nyak Dhien was born in Lampadang, at the northern tip of Sumatra island, around 1848 (some sources cite her birth year as 1850). In the old Dutch spelling applied to Indonesian languages, her name would have been written “Tjoet Nja' Dhien”; the “Dhien” spelling of her surname has been retained in some modern sources. It is also written as Dien in some places. At the time, Lampadang was part of an independent principality known as the Sultanate of Aceh or the Kingdom of Aceh (“AH-tcheh”), Darussalam, located in northern Sumatra. Other parts of Indonesia by that time had been conquered by the Dutch and brought under colonial administration, but the fiercely independent Acehnese, with their Islamic culture, managed to resist incorporation through a mixture of military action and diplomatic strategy.

The name Cut often indicates noble roots in Acehnese culture, and Dhien was indeed a member of the Acehnese aristocracy. Her father, Teuku Nanti Setia, was a top military officer of the sultanate and a descendant of a famed female ambassador from the neighboring Pagaruyung Sultane; her mother also came from a high-ranking military family. (Most Indonesian surnames are not family names.) While growing up, Dhien was given a thorough grounding in Islamic studies as well as in domestic matters. Considered a prize catch by many local young men, she was given in an arranged marriage to Teuku Ibrahim Lamnga, the son of another military commander, when she was 12 years old. In the words of Benny Ohorella and Zaynab El-Fatah, writing in Victory News Magazine , Dhien “soon realized, as the daughter and the wife of commanders of Army divisions, that she would have to [say farewell to] them when war broke out against the Dutch.”

Husband and Father Killed in Battle

In 1878, during the Battle of Sela Glee Tarun, both Dhien's husband and father were killed. Swearing revenge against the Dutch colonizers, she took up her husband's command of the Acehnese guerrilla force. An Acehnese leader, Teuku Umar, was impressed by Dhien's piety: her father and husband, she proclaimed, should not be mourned because they had entered heaven as Islamic shaheed , or martyrs. When Umar first proposed marriage, she rejected him, but he tried again, agreeing to Dhien's insistence that she be allowed to continue to be part of the military struggle. When the two were married in 1880, their wedding was said to have greatly inspired Acehnese fighters. The couple soon had a daughter, Cut Gambang.

The Aceh War continued through the last quarter of the 19th century, with the Dutch establishing control over major Acehnese cities, including Kutaraja and Meulaboh. However, they failed to subdue the countryside, where guerrilla actions were led by Dhien and Teuku Umar. Aceh had long had strong connections to the direct sources of Islam in the Middle East, and over time the regional struggle took on more and more of a religious character. A series of Dutch generals were assigned to Aceh and subsequently departed, removed from their posts because they were unable to defeat the Acehnese insurgency. The Dutch eventually decided to leverage the strong interethnic tensions existing within the Indonesian archipelago, bringing troops from the Christian island of Ambon to combat the Islamic Acehnese guerrillas.

In 1893, as the situation for the guerrilla fighters worsened, Teuku Umar executed a daring plan in which he and 250 Acehnese fighters ostensibly surrendered to Dutch officers, leaving Dhien in charge of the remaining Acehnese force. The fighters were welcomed, and Teuku Umar was even made an officer in the Dutch force. For months he maintained the ruse, waiting for the right opportunity, which came when he was ordered to initiate a campaign against guerrilla-controlled villages in the Acehnese interior. Instead, Teuku Umar and his compatriots deserted, taking with them large caches of Dutch ammunition and heavy weaponry; the event is known from the Dutch perspective as the Treason of Teuku Umar.

Although Umar's coup gave new energy to Dhien's resistance campaign, by the mid-1890s the Dutch were cultivating relationships with hereditary Achenese military families, concluding that the sultanate's Islamic religious leaders were immune to such efforts. They developed a network of spies within Acehnese society, even as the increasing brutality of their armed campaign led to growing sympathy for the Acehnese within the Dutch military and the larger society of the colonial Dutch East Indies. Finally, in 1899, Teuku Umar was killed during an Acehnese attack on Meulaboh. Dhien told Cut Gambang that Achenese should not weep for those who had become martyrs.

Fought to the Death

Following the death of her husband, Dhien continued to lead the Acehnese resistance forces, which over time increasingly consisted of both men and women. After two decades spent living in the jungle, she suffered from a variety of medical problems, and although some of her troops urged her to surrender to the Dutch and seek treatment, she refused. Possibly betrayed by someone in the resistance, Dhien found herself surrounded in 1901 after the location of her camp was provided to the Dutch army. She and a small group fought until the end, with Dhien wielding a traditional Acehnese dagger at the time of her capture. Cut Gambang escaped and continued to carry out sporadic guerrilla actions, but by 1904 Aceh was effectively under Dutch control.

Fearful that Dhien's continued presence on Aceh would inspire native residents to carry out more rebellions, the Dutch exiled to Dhien to Sumedang, on the island of Java. The Dutch did not tell the Javanese who she was; with no national Indonesian language, her identity remained a secret because Acehnese was unintelligible to the local Sundanese. A local Islamic leader became impressed by Dhien's knowledge of Islamic Arabic texts, however, as well as by her general piety. Eventually dubbed by locals as “Dhien Ibu Perbu” (“Dhien the Queen”), she taught Quranic recitations in Sumedang until her death on November 6, 1908. She was buried in a local cemetery dedicated to the noble residents of the town.

Dhien's identity was revealed only in the early 1960s, when research was carried out in Dutch archives. On May 2, 1964, she was declared a national hero of Indonesia by the country's first president, Sukarno. Her image has been featured on an Indonesian stamp and banknote, and Cut Nyak Dhien Airport in Aceh's Nagan Raya Regency is named in her honor.

Walter Elias Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1996) was an American animated film producer and animator. He was also the creator of an American-based theme park called Disneyland, and the founder of the highly profitable corporation, now known as The Walt Disney Company. Disney was born in Chicago to Elias Disney and Flora Call. He was named after his father and after his father’s close friend Walter Parr, the minister at St. Paul Congregational Church. In 1906, his family moved to a farm near Marceline, Missouri. The family sold the farm in 1909 and lived in a rented house until 1910, when they moved to Kansas City. Disney was nine years old. According to the Kansas City, Missouri, Public School District records, Disney began attending the Benton Grammar School in 1911, and continued his formal education there until he graduated on June 8, 1917. During this time, Disney also enrolled in classes at Kansas City Art Institute. In the fall of 1917, Disney rejoined his family. He left school at the age sixteen and became a volunteer ambulance driver in World War I, after he changed his birth certificate to show his year of birth as 1900 in order to be able to enlist in the service. He served as a member of the American Red Cross Ambulance Force in France till 1919.
Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, Germany, on March 14, 1879. He grew up in Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. Einstein taught himself geometry when he was 12 years old. School bored him because it required endless memorizing and reciting. He often skipped classes to study on his own or to play his violin. Yet he graduated from college in 1900 and earned a Ph.D. degree in 1905. From 1902 to 1907, Einstein worked as a clerk in the patent office in Zürich, Switzerland. His job left him plenty of time to think. Einstein thought about the rules that govern the way the world works. For example, he explained why small particles in liquids wiggle around, a movement called Brownian motion. He said that the particles were being bumped into by tiny bits of matter called atoms that are too small to see. He also thought about light and electricity. Einstein knew that light shining on metal sometimes causes electricity to flow. He explained this result, called the photoelectric effect, by saying that light is made of tiny bundles of energy called photons. Photons hitting the metal knock particles called electrons away. Since electricity is simply moving electrons, he had solved the mystery of the photoelectric effect. In 1921, Einstein won the most famous prize in science, the Nobel Prize, for this work. Another thing Einstein thought about was time. He said that time does not always flow at the same rate. He proposed that motion affects time. He called this idea the special theory of relativity. Einstein then came up with his general theory of relativity. This theory has a new explanation for gravity. Einstein said that gravity comes from curves or dents in the fabric of space. Objects make dents in space the way a bowling ball makes a dent in a mattress. The Moon falls into the dent made by Earth and rolls around the Earth. Scientists later proved that the dent a star makes in space-time bends light as the light passes by. Einstein changed physics by showing that new ideas could come just from thinking. Kelahiran dan Biodata Cut Nya Dhien

Pahlawan Cut Nyak Dhien adalah keturunan bangsawan Aceh yang lahir pada 1848 di kampung Lam Padang Peukan Bada, wilayah VI Mukim, Aceh Besar.

Saat menginjak usia 12 tahun, ia dijodohkan dengan Teuku Ibrahim Lamnga, putra Teuku Po Amat, Uleebalang Lam Nga XIII. Suaminya seorang pemuda berwawasan luas dan taat kepada agama. Dari pernikahan tersebut, mereka dikaruniai seorang anak laki-laki.

Dalam riwayat sejarah Aceh, Teuku Ibrahim berjuang melawan kolonial Belanda. Atas alasan itu, Teuku Ibrahim seringkali meninggalkan Cut Nyak Dhien dan anaknya.

Setelah berbulan-bulan meninggalkan Lam Padang, Teuku Ibrahim datang untuk menyerukan perintah mengungsi dan mencari perlindungan di tempat yang aman. Cut Nyak Dhien bersama penduduk lainnya kemudian meninggalkan Lam Padang pada 29 Desember 1975.

Pada 29 Juni 1878, Teuku Ibrahim wafat. Kematian sang suami membuat Cut Nyak Dhien terpuruk. Namun, kejadian itu tak membuatnya putus asa, sebaliknya menjadi alasan kuat Cut Nyak Dhien berjuang menggantikan sosok suaminya.

Cut Nyak Dhien Bersama Teuku Umar

Selepas kematian suaminya, Cut Nyak Dhien menikah lagi dengan Teuku Umar , cucu dari kakek Cut Nyak Dhien. Tidak hanya diikatkan dengan tali pernikahan, tetapi keduanya bersatu untuk memerangi penjajah.

Bukan karena semata-mata ingin mendapatkan sosok kepala rumah tangga di dekatnya, tetapi Cut Nyak Dhien beralasan ingin berjuang bersama dengan laki-laki yang mengizinkannya terjun ke medan perang untuk melawan Belanda.

Cut Nyak Dhien bersama Teuku Umar menguatkan barisan para pejuang untuk kembali mengusir kape Belanda dari bumi Aceh. Keduanya melakukan pertempuran dengan semangat juang membara.

Salah satu peran Cut Nyak Dhien dan Teuku Umar salah satunya berhasil merebut kembali kampung halaman Cut Nyak Dhien.

Teukur umar juga berpura-pura tunduk kepada Belanda demi mendapatkan pasokan persenjataan yang kemudian mereka gunakan untuk kembali menyerang penjajah.

Berjuang Sampai Pengasingan

Belakangan, Teuku Umar gugur dalam medan laga di Meulaboh. Suami keduanya itu gugur karena itikad penyerangannya telah diketahui Belanda sejak awal.

Meskipun orang-orang terkasihnya telah meninggalkannya, Cut Nyak Dhien terus melangsungkan pertempurannya selama enam tahun.

Ia bergerilya dari satu wilayah ke wilayah lainnya. Selama itu, ia bersama rakyat dan pejuang lainnya, dihadapkan pada penderitaan, kehabisan makanan, uang, dan pasokan senjata.

Cut Nyak Dhien dengan keadaan fisiknya yang mulai renta terus berupaya melarikan diri dari Belanda . Meskipun pada saat itu, pasukan tempurnya melemah karena ancaman Belanda.

Sayangnya, panglima pasukannya, Pang Laot berkhianat. Ia bersama-sama Belanda mencari keberadaan Cut Nyak Dhien. Mereka berhasil menemukan persembunyian Cut Nyak Dhien dan kemudian membawanya ke Kutaradja.

Atas permintaan Pang Laot kepada Belanda, Cut Nyak Dhien mendapat perlakuan baik oleh Belanda.

Gubernur Belanda di Kutaradja, Van Daalen, tidak menyenangi hal tersebut sehingga Cut Nyak Dhien diasingkan ke pulau Jawa, tepatnya Sumedang pada 1907.

Setahun, masa pengasingannya, yakni 6 November 1908, Cut Nyak Dhien mengembuskan napas terakhirnya. Makam Cut Nyak Dhien berada di Komplek Pemakaman Gunung Puyuh, Sumedang. Ia menjadi salah satu sosok wanita Indonesia yang patut dicontoh keberaniannya.

Sejak tanggal 2 Mei 1964, Cut Nyak Dhien dianugerahi sebagai pahlawan nasional , demikian seperti dilansir situs resmi Pemerintah Provinsi Aceh.

Kamu tidak boleh mengubah-ubah tanggal kelahiran seseorang, misalnya. Atau tanggal kematian orang tuanya.

b. Menggunakan sudut pandang orang ketiga

Untuk menulis biografi, berarti kamu harus menggunakan kata ganti untuk orang ketiga, yaitu ia, dia, beliau, atau -nya .

c. Menggunakan keterangan waktu

Kata penerang waktu yang biasa digunakan dalam karya biografi adalah sejak, ketika, pada saat, nantinya, kelak, dan suatu saat .
