Speech About Values [1-3 Minutes]

Values are positive good qualities present in an individual or company. These values are responsible for each action performed by an individual. They also help others to figure out the nature of a person or a group of people living together or working together.

Core values represent an individual’s or organisation’s priorities. In this article, we shared some examples of speech about values having a time duration of 1, 2 and 3 minutes. This will help you prepare for a speech presentation.

1 Minute Speech about Values

Good morning and welcome all of you gathered here. I am here to present a speech on values and their importance.

The real value of a person is determined by the values imbibed in him. These are sometimes called core values. Core values are profound essential values that are grounds for who we are as a person. They tell us what we really believe about ourselves.

Core values decide the behaviour, the thinking pattern, and the actions that someone will execute. The same applies to an organisation. If we talk about some of these values. They can be; confidence , humbleness, doing the right things, accountability, helping first, integrity, sharing etc.

In short, Values are important that drive an individual or a business to behave ethically. Thank you!

Short Speech About Values

2-Minute Speech About Values

Welcome honourable principal, respected teacher, loved parents and dear friends. Today, we are gathered here for this special occasion of… I am here to speak a few words about the importance of values.

Values or sometimes called core values or moral values are the invention of humans. These values distinguish humans from animals. These values are important for an individual, a society, an organisation, a business and a country because values have the purpose of driving you to act and behave ethically.

Your values indicate what is important to you and what are your priorities. If you have good values, everyone will like you and you will develop a mutual emotional connection with others. This way you will behave very well with others. Hence, values shape your personality and behaviour .

The values inside you help you make the right decision. They help you distinguish between right and wrong. When you make the right decisions, you prosper on the path of progress. This improves your confidence. Therefore, we can say that values help you grow.

Values can build character. Good values can help you build a strong character and bad values can help you build a loose character. Now, a question arises in the mind; what are good values? There are a lot of values considered as good.

Some of these can be compassion, loyalty, discipline, accountability, confidence, gratitude, sharing, caring, and doing the right things. There is a quote that can help you understand the importance of values in a few words.

Treat people the way you want yourself to be treated. Talk to the people the way you want yourself to be talked to. Respect is earned, not given.

To sum it up, your values can decide the experiences you are going to encounter. So, imbibe good values in you and enjoy the world. Thank you!

3 Minute Speech On The Importance Of values

First of all, good morning to the honourable principal, respected teachers and loving friends and all of you present here today. In your special presence, I would like to say a few words about core values.

We develop a wonderful connection with some people while we fail to do the same with others. This is because of the values they imbibe in them. If we find a person with the same interest and values as us, we like them and vice versa.

Let’s talk about some good values that an individual must have.

1. Kindness

Kindness is the best value of all. Every living being understands the language of kindness. Kind nature can calm even the most ferocious animal. Being kind often requires courage and strength, as it involves the willingness to celebrate and give attention to someone else.

“ Honesty is the best policy “. You must have listened to this line one day or another. It is one of the most basic core values. Honesty is the equilibrium of what we say and what we do. It also encourages one to always tell the truth and avoid cheating.

3. Doing the Right Thing

Doing the right is a tough commitment because it will please some people and fury others. But wait… Give it a think before doing anything if this act is actually right. Here right means which is right for all, not for one perspective. Hence, doing the right thing requires a great deal of wisdom.

Apart from these, there are many values we can count such as;

  • Spirituality
  • Selflessness
  • Determination
  • Trustworthiness
  • Appreciation
  • Self-Reliance
  • Attentiveness

To sum it up, in order to prosper in each aspect of life, one needs to incorporate good values.

Thank you very much for listening to my speech. I hope you liked it.

16 Short Speeches About Life

At first, I set out to craft a speech about life . But as I delved deeper into the topic, I realized that summing up the vast tapestry of life in a single speech is a tall order. Life is not just one color or a single note; it’s a vibrant spectrum, a rainbow of experiences, moments, highs, lows, lessons, and memories. Each hue represents a different chapter, emotion, or milestone that contributes to our unique stories.

I also recognize that high school students might come across these words. I fondly recall my own school days when teachers would challenge us to pen down our thoughts on life. Such assignments, seemingly simple on the surface, often pushed us to self-reflection and growth.

With these memories and audiences in mind, I present to you not just one, but multiple speeches on life. Through these, I aim to touch upon the myriad facets of our existence, hoping that each reader, regardless of their age or journey, finds a sliver of resonance, a hint of inspiration, or a moment of reflection.

Speeches About Life

Speeches about life resonate with all of us because life, in its vastness and complexity, is the shared journey we all navigate. It’s filled with rainbows of experiences, highs and lows, and tales of courage, fear, triumphs, and setbacks.

Through these speeches, we get a window into the varied perspectives, learnings, and stories of others. They offer a mirror to our own experiences, sometimes teaching us, sometimes validating our feelings, and often inspiring us to see our path in a new light.

Moreover, life speeches bridge the gap between generations.

From a teenager in high school to a professional in their prime, everyone can find a piece of wisdom or an echo of their own story in these words.

By discussing life, we unite in our shared human experience, finding solace in the thought that we’re not alone in our struggles or joys. This universality, this binding thread, is what makes speeches about life timeless and impactful.

I have delivered these speeches in Toastmasters . I share these speeches when I teach about life and leadership. I have written them in the hope that you too will be inspired to write your speech about life and be an inspiration to others.

A speech about life aims to provide insights, share personal experiences, motivate the audience, or encourage introspection about the various aspects of human existence.

They can be both. Some speakers draw from their personal journeys and lessons learned, while others tap into universal truths and shared human experiences.

No, everyday experiences can provide profound insights. It’s about the message and the perspective, not necessarily the drama of the events.

30 Famous and Short Inspirational Speeches (5 minutes or less)

  • December 13, 2023

This post is all about the best short inspirational speeches.

Short Inspirational Speeches.

If you are in need of a quick boost of inspiration and motivation, you will find that in this post. I am one of those people who loves to get motivated. That sounds weird, right?

Well, a lot of people these days tend to give motivation a hard time because they don’t believe that it has lasting effects. In other words, they believe that what’s most important is your own self-discipline, because that’s what you have to rely on when motivation isn’t there.

And while I do agree with that sentiment in general, I will never pass up a great motivational podcast or YouTube video! 😀 There’s just something about them that even if they might not have lasting effects, they do truly help pump me up in the moment to get work done. And that’s usually what matters to me the most when I am looking for them in the first place.

So, here are the very best short motivational speeches so you can get that quick fix of motivation that you’re looking for, and ultimately move closer to your goals and dreams.

Short Inspirational Speeches

Believe in yourself speeches.

If you lack confidence or you are doubting yourself, these short motivational speeches will help you to believe in yourself again.

In less than 5 minutes, you’ll watch Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) explain to his son that if he wants to have the life he desires, he needs to believe in himself. This is one of the greatest inspirational speeches of all time.

2. Find Your Purpose | David Goggins – Motivational Speech

David Goggins is truly incredible. A former Navy SEAL, he has broken records and ran more races than you’d imagine. But the one thing that really stands out about him is his mindset.

Listen to this video if you want to be great. He tells you exactly what you need to do to get there.

Also, if you’ve never read David Goggins’ book “Can’t Hurt Me” , I highly recommend it. He talks about his rough upbringing, and how he was able to essentially become an entirely new person to become a Navy SEAL.

3. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF – Motivational Video (ft. Jaret Grossman & Eric Thomas)

This video is all about how important it is to have the proper belief system. If you truly believe that you are one of the best, you will start acting that you are one of the best, and eventually you may just be one of the best.

This YouTube short by Mel Robbins is so good, I had to share it. A light bulb went on in my head when I first watched this. If there is something that is always on your mind, don’t let it haunt you forever because you never put yourself out there to try it. Go and DO!

6. Amazing Motivational Speech by Denzel Washington

Sometimes in life, we get so caught up in the day to day that we forget what truly matters – the people we love. If you are having trouble with something in life, give these videos a listen, because they just might help you realize what is really important.

12. Arnold Schwarzenegger – Organize Your Day | 1 MINUTE MOTIVATIONAL VIDEO

13. How to Judge Your Life Using 3 Simple Questions | Brendon Burchard Speech| Goalcast

Have you ever heard of Mortality Motivation? It’s essentially what it sounds like… being motivated by the impending reality of your death. It sounds a little morbid, but it’s actually quite beautiful and it can be really beneficial if you harness it for good.

In this video by motivational speaker Brendon Burchard, he shares how a car accident when he was 19 gave him mortality motivation and changed everything for him.

14. FALL, SUFFER AND LEARN | MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH BY OPRAH WINFREY

This speech by Oprah was given to Harvard graduates, and it’s a unique speech because she talks about failing, even after the major success of her television show for over 20 years.

It’s refreshing to hear that even the most successful people fail. What really matters, though, is what you do with your failure. Do you learn from it and move on? Or do you give up?

This is a speech about a man who never really paid much attention to his mother, until she passed away. It’s an emotional reminder to cherish the time you have with your loved ones, because you never know if the next time you see them will be the last time.

17. 5 Minutes to Start Your Day Right! – MORNING MOTIVATION

This motivational speech is by a Navy SEAL who will remind you to start each day with a task completed, respect everyone, take risks, step up during tough times, and never give up. If you do these things, the next generation, and the generations that follow, will live better lives than we live today.

18. The Real You – Jim Carrey

This video is one of the best motivational speech examples because it reminds you of something so important: sometimes we can be so focused on earning more money, gaining fame, and becoming admired that we lose ourselves or we lose sight of what’s really important to us in the process.

Jim Carrey talks about how he is a great example of that. He got all of the money, fame, and admiration, and admits that that wasn’t really who he was. Sometimes it’s nice to be reminded that money and fame, or even getting to the top of the corporate ladder, while nice, aren’t going to be the thing that brings you fulfillment when it’s all said and done.

19. Ed Mylett Motivational Speech

I posted another motivational video by Ed Mylett above, but if you don’t know much about him, prepare to have your world rocked. He’s probably my absolute favorite motivational speaker because he is successful and he works hard, but he’s also (seemingly) a kind, family guy who’s been through a few things.

In this video, he talks about being “the one” that changed his family tree. Take a listen because I’m sure it’ll get you thinking on whether or not you can be “the one” in YOUR family.

P.S. If you love personal growth content, you should check out Ed Mylett’s podcast . I listen to it every week and it is one of my favorites.

And a side note: your chances of having good luck increase the harder and longer you work.

21. You’re Not Tired, You’re Just Weak – David Goggins Motivation

If you’re feeling lazy or like you don’t want to do something, watch this video til 2:25 . It will give you the push you need to put your head down and do the work. It’ll remind you to keep pursuing your goals and to keep challenging yourself. Key takeaway: push yourself beyond your perceived limits.

22. Hard Work & Patience – A Gary Vaynerchuk Original Film

If you want to be motivated to work hard, listen to Gary Vaynerchuk. Gary Vaynerchuk is a creative genius known for his marketing tactics. This famous motivational speech is all about playing “the long game”, as in, working for a long time and having patience instead of working hard for a short period of time and expecting to win quickly.

23. OBSESSION – Best Motivational Speech

This is one of my favorite short motivational speeches because it makes me feel a little more normal for being “weird”. I’m the kind of person who chooses to work on the weekends instead of hanging out with people. Crazy, right? But it’s because I’m working toward a dream of mine and it’s something that’s really important to me. The most important thing to remember: it’s okay to devote yourself to something. It’s the only way to get what you want in life.

26. NEVER SURRENDER – Powerful Motivational Speech (by Kobe Bryant)

This one minute video by the late Kobe Bryant is one of the most famous short speeches. I read a book recently by his former personal trainer and I learned that Kobe really outworked everyone. He talks about a quote in this video that really stuck with him, and I think it’s great advice if you’re the kind of person who needs motivation to keep working hard.

Motivational Speeches About Working Smart

Have you ever heard the saying “work smarter, not harder”? That saying is all about ensuring that the work you are doing is actually efficient. Are you getting to where you want to go with all of the work that you are putting in? Are you getting closer to your goals and your dreams? Or are you sprinting like a hamster on a wheel and just running in circles?

Here are great videos on the importance of working hard but also working intentionally.

27. SET SYSTEMS RATHER THAN GOALS – Motivational Speech – James Clear

A goal gives you a sense of direction, but if you don’t spell out precisely how you are going to get to a goal, it is useless. You must develop systems. Listen to this James Clear video to gain valuable life lessons.

By the way, James Clear is an author who wrote perhaps my favorite book of all time: “Atomic Habits” . It’s life-changing if you haven’t read it yet.

28. Matthew McConaughey | 5 Minutes for the NEXT 50 Years of Your LIFE

This is one of the best motivational speeches of all time about how to live a great life for YOU. It’s filled with little pieces of wisdom that’ll really get you thinking about how you live your life and in what direction you want to go.

29. Visualization is the key – Bob Proctor

Do you believe in the Law of Attraction? If not, I have to say I’m surprised! I’ve experienced it in my own life more than once, and it is incredibly powerful. Here’s a great video that sums up the power of visualization, and if you want to learn more about the Law of Attraction or manifestation in general, read this post .

This video shows the true power of words, thoughts, and feelings that you have.

30. How to Stay Motivated – Carla Harris

Here is a YouTube short with very practical advice from Carla Harris on HOW to stay motivated. It’s all about having a vision!

This post was all about short inspirational speeches. Which one was your favorite?

Speech on Value of Time

Time is a treasure that you own, but it’s always ticking away. It’s precious, yet unlike other treasures, you can’t save it for later. Each second that passes is a piece of this treasure you’ll never get back. Understand its value, and you understand the secret to a fulfilling life.

1-minute Speech on Value of Time

Dear friends, today I am here to talk about a topic that is universally acknowledged yet often ignored – ‘The Value of Time’. Let me begin by saying that time is an invaluable asset. Though intangible, it is more precious than any luxury in the world, because once lost, it can never be regained.

Every tick of the clock signifies that we are a moment closer to the end of our journey. It is an undeniable fact that life is short and uncertain. Therefore, it is crucial to make the most out of every moment we have. The significance of time can best be understood by the phrase, “Time and tide wait for none”. It does not matter who you are or what you do, time will not stop for you.

We often see people regretting that they did not do a particular thing at the right time. It is because they did not realize the value of time when they had the opportunity. The value of time is most evident in the times of crisis. It is then when we wish we had more time at our disposal.

To sum up, learning to respect time and use it wisely is a key to success. It is said that the wisest are those who make the best use of their time. So, let us not waste any more of this precious resource. Let’s make every second count, for the sands of time wait for no one.

2-minute Speech on Value of Time

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I’m here to talk about something we all possess, yet often fail to acknowledge the importance of – Time. The value of time is immeasurable and it’s the one thing we all have in common, regardless of our age, profession, or nationality.

Time, it is said, is the most valuable thing a person can spend. But unlike money or material possessions, the time you have today cannot be saved for tomorrow. It is continuously moving, and once a moment has passed, it is gone forever. We often hear phrases like “there’s always tomorrow” or “maybe next time”, but the truth is, the time we have at this moment is the only time we’re certain of.

Every tick of the clock gives us an opportunity to create something valuable, something meaningful. Time is the canvas on which we paint the picture of our lives. Our achievements, our knowledge, our character – they are all products of the time we’ve invested. It is important to understand that time is not just about the ticking of seconds, minutes, and hours, but about the quality of how we spend those moments.

However, we often take time for granted. We waste it on trivial things, things that don’t enrich our lives in any way. This complacency comes from the illusion that we have an endless supply of time. But the uncomfortable truth is, our time is limited. We don’t know when the hourglass will run out. Hence, we must seize it, appreciate it, and make the most of it.

Making the most of our time doesn’t necessarily mean being busy every single moment. It means being productive, being mindful of how we use our time. It means setting clear goals and making sure we take steps every day towards achieving them. It means ensuring we set aside time for rest, for loved ones, for the things we love to do.

Moreover, we must also learn to respect others’ time. Just as we don’t want our time to be wasted, we should not waste others’ time. Respect for time is a reflection of respect for ourselves and others. It tells a lot about our character and our values.

In conclusion, the value of time is in its scarcity, its fleeting nature. Let’s appreciate the time we have, for it’s the most valuable asset we possess. Let’s invest it wisely, using it productively for personal growth, for helping others, for making a positive impact in the world. Remember, time is like a book. Each day is a new page. It’s up to us whether we fill it with meaningful words or leave it blank.

Thank you for your time.

short speech on values of life

English Summary

1 Minute Speech on the Importance of Value Education In English

A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I’ll be giving a short speech on the topic of the importance of value education.

Value education, simply put, is educating people, especially students and children. Very similar to moral education in nature, it is often taken to mean the same. However, value education is slightly different wherein it aims to educate about important life values, which includes, but is not restricted to morality like in moral education.

Value education, as said before, is important as it is integral to teach students, especially young ones about life values so as to better equip them to face life as they grow up to become adults. By educating on values such as citizenship, equality on the basis of gender, race, and caste, and critical problem-solving skills, value education helps mold individuals to become better for the future.

Nowadays, given its importance, value education is mandatorily taught in schools and colleges as a subject of significance.

Thank you.

Sample Speeches on Value of Time

A couple of sample speeches on the value of time are given below. Go through them and utilise the resource to better understand the topic.

We all are familiar with the proverb, “We cannot step into the same river twice”, right? Everything is continuously changing over time. We cannot retrieve lost time in our lives; once lost, it is lost forever. So the necessity to value it more than anything is really high. We should seize the opportunities we have and utilise it for the betterment of others.

Just like the words told by Stephen R. Covey, “The key is in not spending time, but in investing it”. People have to value and manage time wisely. To effectively utilise time, one has to set goals and work for them. We have to understand the situation and apply time accordingly. Setting long-term and short-term goals will drive us to accomplish great heights and to understand the purpose of our lives. Time management is another crucial skill needed for the smooth sailing of human life. We have to prioritise our tasks and complete them accordingly. Following such a plan will favour an individual in multiple ways. People will stop procrastinating and stay updated in their lives. Such a regular update boosts the confidence of the individuals and will help them to encounter all troubles in their lives.

Even though we are well aware of all these points, we keep on repeating the same mistake – we think we have enough time left with us. Buddha once said, “The trouble is, you think you have time.” This is the only reason why we disparage time and procrastinate. It’s high time to realise the value of time in our lives. Start valuing your time; you will eventually start valuing your life.

The power of time is boundless; it can rule over all material things. No human power can control its journey or defeat it.

“And on the pedestal, these words appear:

My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;

Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay

Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare

The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

These are the words from the poem ‘Ozymandias’, written by P. B. Shelley. With these lines, the poet is trying to depict the power of time and shows how human energy is ultimately lost in the battle with time. No matter how powerful a human being is, time will always win in the battle of life. People have to accept the reality that, by living, we all are playing a game in which the winner is already decided. Time is doubtlessly a powerful force that has an overwhelming effect on human life. Let’s remember the words told by Mother Teresa, “Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.” So let’s realise the value of time and start living. Seize the day.

Time is the most valued limited resource on earth. We only have a finite amount of time in our lives. Every single one has the same 24 hours of time in a day. The productive utilisation of it determines the success of a person. Do you know what our life is made up of? It’s made of time, so losing time means losing a life. Everything that we enjoy today is the gift of time, still, many people prioritise money over time. Money can be made by anyone who has got time in their life. According to the words of Jim Rohn, “Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time”. People do not realise the fact that it’s time that provides the opportunity to earn it. Just like how wealth is brought, time brings happiness, sorrows, success, and depression into our lives. And this is how our lives are made of time.

What is the value of time in life?

Time is the most valued limited resource on earth. The productive utilisation of it determines the success of a person. We only have a finite amount of time in our lives. Every single one has the same 24 hours of time in a day.

How can we effectively utilise our time?

To effectively utilise time, one has to set goals and work for them. We have to understand the situation and apply time accordingly. Setting long term and short term goals will drive us to accomplish various heights in our lives and to understand the purpose of our lives. Time management is another crucial skill needed for the smooth sailing of human life. We have to prioritise our tasks and complete the list accordingly.

Value of Discipline in Student Life Speech – 1

Respected Principal, Chairman, Committee Members, Teachers and Dear Fellow Students – Warm Greetings to everyone!

First of all, let’s just express our gratitude towards the Almighty for gifting us yet another day to enjoy the morning sunshine and the beauty of our school.

Today, I – the representative of Class-X, Shikhwant Sharma, has come on stage to deliver a speech on discipline. It doesn’t give me pleasure to share with you all the fact that our teachers and managing committee have come to notice the growing indiscipline in our school. There was a time when our school was awarded the best school for maintaining discipline in all streams in the entire region and now sadly the management is observing that our school is gradually losing out on its characteristic trait.

Some students are frequently seen coming late to the school due to which other students are also coming under the sway. Not only this, but students have even started bunking classes; are growing inattentive towards their approaching exams and are also not performing well in their tests. This is the reason why I took the initiative to deliver a speech on discipline and make my juniors as well as fellow students realize the importance of discipline in our lives and more so because the management doesn’t want to implement strict rules for the students. They believe in making the environment congenial and adaptable for the students where they naturally feel inclined towards their learning and growth prospects.

So let me tell you friends that this is the most precious time for all of us to lay a sound foundation of our academics. Secondly, that strong foundation can only be laid down by adopting a disciplined way of life and this discipline starts right from our school. Educational discipline involves a process of physical and mental conditioning of the human body and brain respectively.

We all should know that discipline acts as bridge between our objectives and accomplishments. Discipline implies a willing submission to following a set of rules and regulations as imposed by the self for achieving personal goals or by the society to aid in the development of a cohesive nation-building exercise. Most of the time, discipline should be self taught rather than imposed by others because under such situation it becomes choking for an individual to survive. However, we must realize from within that discipline is for our own betterment and progress. It is important for every individual to follow discipline whether it’s a homemaker, working professional, business person, artist or a student for that matter.

As students, it becomes our foremost responsibility to live a disciplined life, i.e. come to school on time, attend all the classes, follow all the classroom teachings unfailingly and strike a balance between our academics and hobbies.

Even though difficult to inculcate, but discipline is a must for our personal growth; then the progress of our institution and our country at large. Its absence may lead us to face failures and defeat. So as students we should first and foremost be punctual and be sincerely devoted to our studies.

In the end, I just want to say that let’s come together and cultivate self-regulation as well as control in our lives in order to become bright students of our schools and bring accolades to our institution.

Value of Discipline in Student Life Speech – 2

Respected Teachers and Dear Students – I welcome you all to the monthly speech giving ceremony of our institute!

Discipline means following rules and guidelines throughout our lives, starting from childhood and continuing into adulthood. People who are disciplined do their tasks correctly and on time. Discipline helps us stay in control and encourages us to make progress in life

I feel extremely elated at the fact that our institute has successfully completed 5 years and since then my association with this place is going strong. I wish many more such years of continued success and growth and hope we continue to nurture the youth of our country with knowledge and right values. Today, as one of the senior faculty members of this institute, I am here to host this ceremony and deliver a succinct speech on discipline for all my students given the fact that it has become the need of the hour as in present times our youth is somewhat living an erratic lifestyle and are flouting rules and codes of behavior.

We should always remember that time is money and if we will destroy time then time will destroy us! So discipline is required in every walk of life no matter we are a student or not. Discipline is the very essence of our lives and if we do away with it then certainly negative impact on our future prospects would follow. Though whiling away time will give you temporary pleasure, but in the end it will result in only a painful experience. It, therefore, becomes important to discipline our lives right from the beginning and make it a basis of conducting our lives.

In fact, discipline is required not only at all stages of life, but in every sphere of life too. For instance, an army cannot imagine its existence without it and so enforces strict discipline in their department and divisions with zero toleration policy. An educational institute too cannot function without it; this is the reason why fixed hours are allocated to both the teachers and students and each one is made to follow the suite so that the rules and regulation of the institution are kept intact. Likewise, in corporate, courts, auditoriums, including even the small private firms discipline has to be maintained in order to preserve the sanctity of the place. In hospitals, the visitors are allowed only at the designated hours beyond which no visitors are entertained. Even for a small thing as paying your electricity bill or the telephone bill or buying a movie ticket for that matter, you will have to stand in a queue and get your work done.

When it comes to our personal lives, we cannot afford complete luxury and some sort of discipline has to be maintained for a stable and meaningful life. For instance, if you succumb to temptation and over eat things, your stomach will get upset. Similarly, if you watch television till late night, you will start feeling unwell the next morning. If you do not discipline yourself in your studies and distract yourself, then you’re not likely to fare well in your exams.

So in a nutshell, life is best enjoyed when discipline is observed. Nothing gives satisfaction in life when the very essence of living life is missing and our existence becomes mere animal-like. In the end, I would just request our students to not let anyone impose rules in your life; rather observe self-discipline, systematize yourself and reap the fruits of benefits out of it.

Value of Discipline in Student Life Speech – 3

Good Morning Respected Principal, Respected Teachers and My Dear Student!

Today, this special assembly is organized for the purpose of discussion about discipline among students. As a teacher in this school, it’s my duty to make students realize the importance of discipline in their lives. So, before I begin, I would like to explain you that what is discipline? Discipline is actually a controlled behaviour of a person who follows every rules and regulations and it does not matter where he/she is. These days, discipline among students is decreasing and it is a very problematic situation which needs to be solved.

Discipline is the first thing in the life of a student which leads him/her to the way of success. The reason for setting up rules and regulations in the school is to teach students about what is discipline and maintain discipline among them. In the early stage of a student when he starts from prep, this is the time where the teaching of discipline begins and parents play an important role in maintaining discipline in their child because a child only spends maximum eight hours in the school and rest of the time with his parents. It is very important to understand the importance of discipline in our lives. Discipline is not important only for children but it is important in every person’s life.

If we talk about maturity, self discipline is very important to learn. It helps us to govern and rule ourselves. This is the hardest task among all. Existence of a good school is only possible if there is discipline because it is the first purpose of sending children to school for parents. Just think that, if students can do whatever they want to do in their schools then it will become impossible for the teachers to teach. Many students miss their school without a justified reason or permission of their parents or teachers.

I have got many complaints from students that they are not able to study in their class because of the disruption created by their classmates. This is because of the lack of discipline among students. This responsibility is not only of the school. It is the responsibility of parents, schools and government. There should be some measures taken by the government. There should be a penalty for unjustified short attendance holders. There should be strict rules in the school for proper behaviour.

But sometimes, the reason behind the bad behaviour of a student is his/her family situation and personal problems. Many of the time, students are not able to explain their problems to anyone and thus they get frustrated and cause bad behaviour in them and teachers has the responsibility to understand the cause of the bad behaviour in the students and they should not neglect their responsibility. Thus, I just want to say that we all should understand the responsibility towards maintaining discipline among students and then only this problem would be solved.

On this note, I would like to conclude my speech and I hope that from now onwards all of you will try to maintain discipline in your lives.

Thank you and have a good day!

Value of Discipline in Student Life Speech – 4

Good Morning Respected Principal, Respected Teachers and My Dear Students!

As we all know that from today onwards the new session will start and there will be new classrooms, new students and of course new studies and I wish you all good luck for your new journeys. Before the regular day began, I would like to address some of the issues that were seen constantly during the whole last year and it needs a solution so that it would not happen this year. The problem is regarding the lack of discipline among students that projects a bad image in front of the outsiders and creates issues for teachers and other staff. It has become very necessary to teach students discipline strictly.

As your sports trainer, it’s my duty to teach you the lesson of discipline because in sports discipline is a necessity. First of all, education is all about learning discipline and gaining knowledge. Discipline is all about the respect and it means the respect towards rules and regulation or the respect towards a person. If there is no discipline then there will be no respect.

In school principal, teachers and the whole staff deserve respect and when you are outside of the school then your neighbors and everyone else deserves respect. The first step to discipline is to learn to obey other people and rules and regulations of the place where you go. Discipline also means to behave in a good manner such as following the proper dress routine of the school daily because it is seemed many times that there are many students who does not wear school uniform properly and does not get their nails cut etc. All these problems are the cause of lack of discipline.

The biggest problem that came out from the lack of discipline is truancy. Many children miss their school for no clear reason and without the permission of teachers. It is the responsibility of parents to make sure that their child is attending school regularly or not. Lack of attendance is a sign of unorganized family or of their bad conditions.

There should be some rules and regulations for the students who are lacking in attendance and a good behavior in the school. On an unjustified absence of the student in the school, the fine will be charged. Penalty should be charged for the bad behavior such as suspension etc.

Ensuring that everybody grasps the concept of discipline is crucial because it aids in arranging tasks the right way. Discipline essentially involves self-control and can be seen in how someone behaves. So, discipline should come naturally from within and is particularly vital for kids to pick up.

Discipline means following rules and guidelines throughout our entire life, starting from childhood. People who are well-disciplined complete their tasks correctly and on time. Discipline helps us stay in control and encourages personal growth.

Punishments and penalty is not only the solution of this problem but it needs students to understand the value of discipline in their lives because it is the only thing that will help them to focus on their future goals. Without a proper disciplined life it is quite impossible to achieve success. Having fun with your friends and family is also important but it does not mean to neglect your responsibility towards school because in life, everything is important but discipline is must.

On this note, I would like to conclude my speech and I wish you all a great day ahead!

  • Speech on Value of Discipline in Student Life

ffImage

Discipline is defined as the practice of training oneself to obey rules or to be systematic in life. Discipline is important in all stages of life and if implemented properly could be the formula for success. It is important that students should learn discipline as early as possible in their lives.

Below two discipline speeches in English are given - a long speech on the discipline and a short speech on discipline. These speeches on discipline will help the students to understand the importance of discipline in life.

Long Discipline Speech in English

Good morning everyone! I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone present over here and I want to thank all of you for giving me this opportunity to speak a few words about discipline in a student’s life.

Discipline is defined as the practice of training oneself to obey rules or to be systematic in life. It’s a word which we often hear every once in a while and many times we fail to understand its importance. Discipline is a practice of self-control that is reflected in a person’s actions. These controls cannot be forced on an individual but they should be cultivated from within. Hence discipline is considered to be spontaneous and not mere submissive to authorities in an obedient manner.

As early as possible children should incorporate discipline in their lives and parents should teach them self-discipline and self-control. Discipline will help them to resist temptations, delay gratification, and help them to tolerate the discomfort needed to achieve goals in their lives.

As we know, children learn things quickly as they observe them whether it’s good or bad. Children can learn self-discipline by observing their parents. So, if you are a parent who watches television continuously, procrastinate on doing things, and are lazy in life then you cannot expect your children to be self-disciplined in life. Parents should be a good example and teach their children about the value of discipline in life.

In schools, the principal and the teaching staff play an important role in applying discipline. The first thing students can do to be disciplined on school premises is to follow rules and regulations properly. Being disciplined at school is not complicated as it consists of doing small acts like wearing a clean uniform, respecting teachers, completing the task without delaying it, wearing poolish shoes, and so on.

Students who have been disciplined in their lives from an early age will help to be always organized which in turn will help them to succeed in life. If a student is indisciplined in completing his task and as a teacher, if you think punishing and imposing a strict penalty on him will help in cultivating discipline, then you are wrong.

If a child is having discipline in his life it does not mean it’s completely his fault. Sometimes it could be the fault of parents and teachers as well. Children learn by observing their surroundings whether it’s good or bad. So, the first step involves all the parents following discipline. The second step involves the parents to know their child’s daily activities or routine. It means to know if the child is going to school, doing his homework properly and if enjoying his life this will, in turn, help the parents to understand their child in a better way.

To conclude, I would like to say that it is important for students to be self-disciplined in life. It is considered to be the first step in being successful in life and if the students develop the habit of self-discipline and self-control it would help them to plan their life accordingly and succeed.

Short Speech on Discipline

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker may have stirred controversy in some quarters for his proclamations of conservative politics and Catholicism on Saturday, but he received a standing ovation from graduates and other attendees of the May 11 commencement ceremony at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.

The fast-growing college is part of a constellation of conservative Catholic colleges that tout their adherence to church teachings and practice — part of a larger conservative movement in parts of the U.S. Catholic Church.

Butker's 20-minute speech hit several cultural flashpoints.

Butker, a conservative Catholic himself, dismissed Pride month as consisting of the “deadly sin sort of pride" while denouncing abortion and President Joe Biden's handling of the pandemic. He said women are told “diabolical lies” about career ambition when “one of the most important titles of all” is that of homemaker. He said this is not time for “the church of nice” and in particular blasted Catholics who support abortion rights and “dangerous gender ideologies.”

WHAT IS BENEDICTINE COLLEGE?

Benedictine College is a Catholic college in Atchison, Kansas, that traces its roots to 1858. It is located about 60 miles north of Kansas City., and has an enrollment of about 2,200.

LOTS OF COLLEGES ARE CATHOLIC. WHAT MAKES IT DISTINCTIVE?

In some ways, Benedictine College sounds like a typical Catholic college. Its “mission as a Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts, residential college is the education of men and women within a community of faith and scholarship,” according

to its website.

But its home to more traditional expressions of Catholicism, such as the Latin Mass, all-night prayer vigils and a strict code of conduct. Its mission statement further cites its commitment to "those specific matters of faith of the Roman Catholic tradition, as revealed in the person of Jesus Christ and handed down in the teachings of the Church.”

The school gets a high ranking from the Cardinal Newman Society, a group that touts nearly two-dozen conservative colleges that exhibit what it calls “faithful Catholic education." That includes upholding church teachings and Catholic identity while providing ample Masses and other devotional activities in shaping their students.

The society seeks to differentiate schools that “refuse to compromise their Catholic mission” from those that have become “battlegrounds for today’s culture wars.” Others praised by the society include Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., Ave Maria University in Florida and Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio.

The society's ranking says Benedictine benefits from having monks in residence, multiple Masses and prayer groups, spiritually focused organizations and theology programs with professors with a “mandatum" of approval from the local bishop.

HOW HAS THAT RESONATED WITH STUDENTS?

Benedictine's enrollment has doubled in the past 20 years. Some 85% of its students are Catholic, according to the Cardinal Newman Society.

Students told The Associated Press in interviews they embrace the college's emphasis on Catholic teaching and practice.

“It’s a renewal of, like, some really, really good things that we might have lost,” one student told the AP in its recent article on the revival of conservative Catholicism.

OTHER FACTS

Annual tuition for full-time undergraduates is $35,350, but Benedictine says 100% of its students receive some form of financial aid.

Benedictine’s sports teams, called the Ravens, compete in National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Its athletics department says it is committed to ”setting the highest standards for academic success, athletic competition, ethical behavior, fiscal responsibility, and spiritual development.”

HOW DID GRADUATES REACT TO BUTKER’S SPEECH?

Video of the commencement shows virtually all the graduates and spectators rising to a standing ovation, but student interviews showed a more mixed reaction.

ValerieAnne Volpe, 20, who graduated with an art degree, lauded Butker for saying things that “people are scared to say.”

“I was thinking about my dad, who was also here, and how he’s probably clapping and so happy to see what he would say is a real man (reflecting) family values, good religious upbringing and representation of Christ to people,” she said. “You can just hear that he loves his wife. You can hear that she loves his family.”

Kassidy Neuner, 22, said the speech felt “a little degrading” and gave the impression that only women can be a homemaker.

“I think that men have that option as well,” said Neuner, who will be spending a gap year teaching before going to law school. “And to point this out specifically that that’s what we’re looking forward to in life seems like our four years of hard work wasn’t really important.”

Elle Wilbers, 22, who is heading to medical school in the fall, said the Catholic faith focuses on mothers, so that portion of the speech wasn’t surprising. She was more shocked by his criticism of priests and bishops “misleading their flocks” and a quip comparing LGBTQ+ Pride month to one of the seven deadly sins.

“We should have compassion for the people who have been told all their life that the person they love is like, it’s not okay to love that person,” Wilbers said. “It was sort of just a shock. I was like, ‘Is he really say this right now?’”

Breaking Down Harrison Butker's Speech: Read the Chiefs Player's Most Controversial Comments

Fans are calling for Harrison Butker to be removed from the Chiefs' roster for the upcoming NFL season after his 20-minute commencement speech at Benedictine College

short speech on values of life

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker 's commencement speech at Benedictine College, a Catholic school, continues to cause outrage.

The NFL player's 20-minute address included attacks on working women, the LBGTQ+ community and families who utilize surrogacy and in vitro fertilization (IVF).

Butker and the Chiefs did not immediately return PEOPLE's requests for comment. In a statement, the NFL’s Chief Diversity Officer Jonathan Beane says, "Harrison Butker gave a speech in his personal capacity. His views are not those of the NFL as an organization. The NFL is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger.”

Former Kansas City commissioner Justice Horn went further, slamming Butker in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). "Harrison Butker doesn’t represent Kansas City nor has he ever," he wrote . "Kansas City has always been a place that welcomes, affirms, and embraces our LGBTQ+ community members."

Rapper Flavor Flav chimed in, "Sounds like some players 'need to stay in their lanes' and shouldn’t be giving commencement speeches."

Cooper Neill/Getty

Writer Cyd Zeigler wrote , "Pretty awful to hear an NFL player so proudly tell women to 'stay in their lane,' serve their man and make babies. Not to mention comparing Pride month to a 'deadly sin' and lobbing bombs at the trans community. Not a fan."

Amid the backlash, below is a breakdown of Butker's most controversial comments from the speech.

On Taylor Swift's Lyric

A portion of the outrage against Butker came from supporters of Taylor Swift after he shared one of her lyrics, which fans noticed he misinterpreted.

Butker quoted a lyric from Swift's 2022 song "Bejeweled," and referred to her as his teammate, Travis Kelce 's girlfriend.

"As my teammate's girlfriend would say, familiarity breeds contempt," Butker said when discussing the values of the Catholic Church.

What seemed to have been lost on Butker, however, is that the song's message is about Swift embracing her independence away from a former boyfriend.

On the Covid-19 Pandemic and President Joe Biden

At the start of his speech, Butker addressed how the class of 2024 was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic at the start of their college careers. The subject quickly transitioned into attacks on President Joe Biden and topics such as abortion, IVF, surrogacy and euthanasia.

"I'm sure your high school graduation was not what you had imagined and most likely neither was your first couple years of college. By making it to this moment through all the adversity thrown your way from COVID, I hope you learned the important lesson that suffering in this life is only temporary," he said. "As a group, you witnessed firsthand how bad leaders who don't stay in their lane can have a negative impact on society."

Butker went on: "Bad policies and poor leadership have negatively impacted major life issues. Things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, as well as a growing support for degenerate cultural values in media, all stem from the pervasiveness of disorder. Our own nation is led by a man who publicly and proudly proclaims his Catholic faith, but at the same time is delusional enough to make the sign of the cross."

The Chiefs kicker continued his verbal attack on Biden, saying, "During a pro-abortion rally, he has been so vocal in his support for the murder of innocent babies that I'm sure to many people it appears that you can be both Catholic and pro-choice."

"This is an important reminder that being Catholic alone doesn't cut it. These are the sorts of things we're told in polite society to not bring up. The difficult and unpleasant things. But if we are going to be men and women for this time in history, we need to stop pretending that the 'Church of Nice' is a winning proposition. We must always speak and act in charity, but never mistake charity for cowardice."

He continued: "As members of the church founded by Jesus Christ, it is our duty and ultimately privilege to be authentically and unapologetically Catholic."

On LGBTQ+ Pride

Butker then turned the focus of his speech to the Catholic values at Benedictine College. However, his sentiments attacked the LGBTQ+ and trans communities.

Butker said, "Benedictine has gone from just another liberal arts school with nothing to set it apart to a thriving beacon of light ... I'm certain the reporters at the AP could not have imagined that their attempt to rebuke and embarrass places and people like those here at Benedictine wouldn't be met with anger, but instead met with excitement and pride, not the deadly sin sort of pride that has an entire month dedicated to it, but the true God-centered pride that is cooperating with the Holy Ghost to glorify him."

On IVF and Surrogacy

Butker later attacked families who utilize IVF and surrogacy to have children, saying, "It is imperative that this class, this generation, in this time in our society must stop pretending that the things we see around us are normal."

"Heterodox ideas abound, even within Catholic circles. Let's be honest, there is nothing good about playing God with having children, whether that be your ideal number or the perfect time to conceive. No matter how you spin it, there is nothing natural about Catholic birth control. It is only in the past few years that I have grown encouraged to speak more boldly and directly because as I mentioned earlier, I have leaned into my vocation as a husband and father and as a man."

On Working Women

In a direct address to the female graduates at Benedictine, Butker said, "For the ladies present today, congratulations on an amazing accomplishment. I want to speak directly to you briefly because I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you."

"Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world."

Of his spouse, Butker said, "I can tell you that my beautiful wife, Isabelle, would be the first to say that her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother. I'm on this stage today and able to be the man I am because I have a wife who leans into her vocation. I'm beyond blessed with the many talents God has given me, but it cannot be overstated that all of my success is made possible because a girl I met in band class back in middle school, who would convert to the faith, become my wife and embrace one of the most important titles of all: homemaker."

Jamie Squire/Getty

He continued, "I say all of this to you because I have seen firsthand how much happier someone can be when they disregard the outside noise and move closer and closer to God's will in their life. Isabelle's dream of having a career might not have come true, but if you asked her today if she has any regrets on her decision, she would laugh out loud without hesitation and say, heck no."

Several users on social media have pointed out , however, that Butker's mother, Elizabeth Butker, is a successful physicist at Emory University's Department of Radiation Oncology.

On Masculinity

Moving his focus to the male graduates in the room, Butker said, "To the gentlemen here today, part of what plagues our society is this lie that has been told to you that men are not necessary in the home or in our communities. As men, we set the tone of the culture. And when that is absent, disorder, dysfunction and chaos set in ..."

"Other countries do not have nearly the same absentee father rates as we find here in the U.S., and a correlation could be made in their drastically lower violence rates as well. Be unapologetic in your masculinity. Fight against the cultural emasculation of men. Do hard things. Never settle for what is easy. You might have a talent that you don't necessarily enjoy, but if it glorifies God, maybe you should lean into that over something that you might think suits you better."

Concluding his speech, Butker said, "I know that my message today had a little less fluff than is expected for these speeches, but I believe that this audience and this venue is the best place to speak openly and honestly about who we are and where we all want to go, which is heaven. I thank God for Benedictine College and for the example it provides to the world."

"Make no mistake, you are entering into mission territory in a post God world, but you are made for this and with God by your side and a constant striving for virtue within your vocation, you too can be a saint. Christ is king to the heights."

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The commencement speaker at Kansas’ Benedictine College , a private Catholic liberal arts school, congratulated the women receiving degrees — and said most of them were probably more excited about getting married and having children.

Harrison Butker, the kicker for the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, is getting attention for those and other comments last weekend in which he said some Catholic leaders were “pushing dangerous gender ideologies onto the youth of America.”

Butker, who’s made his conservative Catholic beliefs well known, also assailed Pride month , a particularly important time for the LGBTQ+ rights movement, and President Joe Biden’s stance on abortion.

“I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you,” Butker said.

A Super Bowl champion kicker is in hot water after comments he made during a college commencement speech. Correspondent Gethin Coolbaugh reports.

“Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. I can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say that her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother,” he said.

Butker said that his wife embraced “one of the most important titles of all. Homemaker.“

“Harrison Butker gave a speech in his personal capacity,” NFL senior vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer Jonathan Beane said in a statement. “His views are not those of the NFL as an organization. The NFL is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger.”

Butker also criticized as disparaging to the Catholic Church an article by The Associated Press highlighting a shift toward conservativism in some parts of the church.

The three-time Super Bowl champion delivered his roughly 20-minute address Saturday at the Catholic private liberal arts school in Atchison, Kansas, which is located about 60 miles (97 kilometers) miles north of Kansas City. He received a standing ovation from graduates and other attendees.

Butker, 28, referred to a “deadly sin sort of pride that has a month dedicated to it” in an oblique reference to Pride month. Butker also took aim at Biden’s policies, including his condemnation of the Supreme Court’s reversal of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision and advocacy for freedom of choice — a key campaign issue in the 2024 presidential race.

Biden, who is Catholic, has a fraught history on the issue. He initially opposed the Roe v. Wade decision, saying it went too far . He also opposed federal funding for abortions and supported restrictions on abortions later in pregnancy.

Butker also tackled Biden’s response to COVID-19, which has killed nearly 1.2 million people in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“While COVID might have played a large role throughout your formative years, it is not unique,” he said. “Bad policies and poor leadership have negatively impacted major life issues. Things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, as well as a growing support for degenerate cultural values and media all stem from pervasiveness of disorder.”

Graduates had mixed views on the speech. ValerieAnne Volpe, 20, who graduated with an art degree, lauded Butker for saying things that “people are scared to say.”

“You can just hear that he loves his wife. You can hear that he loves his family,” she said.

Elle Wilbers, 22, who is heading to medical school, said she was shocked by Butker’s criticism of priests and bishops and his reference to the LGBTQ+ community, one that she described as “horrible.”

“We should have compassion for the people who have been told all their life that the person they love is like, it’s not OK to love that person,” Wilbers said.

Kassidy Neuner, 22, who will spend a gap year teaching before going to law school, said being a stay-at-home parent is “a wonderful decision.”

“And it’s also not for everybody,” Neuner added, saying, “I think that he should have addressed more that it’s not always an option. And, if it is your option in life, that’s amazing for you. But there’s also the option to be a mother and a career woman.”

The Chiefs declined to comment on Butker’s commencement address.

The 2017 seventh-round pick out of Georgia Tech has become of the NFL’s best kickers, breaking the Chiefs’ franchise record with a 62-yard field goal in 2022. Butker helped them win their first Super Bowl in 50 years in 2020, added a second Lombardi Trophy in 2023, and he kicked the field goal that forced overtime in a Super Bowl win over San Francisco in February.

It has been an embarrassing offseason for the Chiefs, though.

Last month, voters in Jackson County, Missouri, soundly rejected a ballot initiative that would have helped pay for an $800 million renovation to Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Chiefs. Many voters criticized the plan put forward by the Chiefs as catering primarily to VIPs and the wealthy.

The same week, wide receiver Rashee Rice turned himself in to Dallas police on multiple charges, including aggravated assault, after he was involved in a high-speed crash that left four people with injuries. Rice has acknowledged being the driver of one of the sports cars that was going in excess of 100 mph (160 kph).

Last week, law enforcement officials told The Dallas Morning News that Rice also was suspected of assaulting a person at a downtown nightclub. Dallas police did not name Rice as the suspect in detailing a report to The Associated Press.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said he had spoken to the receiver and the team was letting the legal process play out.

Associated Press writer Heather Hollingsworth in Mission, Kansas, contributed to this story.
