Dear teachers and dear friends!

Perfect morning to all of you

Teacher’s Day is celebrated every year on 5 September, with lots of enthusiasm, happiness , and joy. Today is the birth anniversary of Doctor Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a great teacher and scholar.

He was our country, the second President. Students across the country celebrate this Day as Teachers Day to honour their teachers who play a critical role in building the character of the students and are the final pillar of the organization.

Therefore we should always respect and love them. Teachers are sources of inspiration. They inspire us, nourish our young minds with knowledge, give us strength, and prepare us to face obstacles or challenges in life.

Therefore, teachers are a blessing to us in many ways. Let us always honour our teachers today, follow them, and follow their advice to become qualified citizens. On this Day, I want to be grateful to all my teachers for guiding me whenever I need you.

A beautiful big thanks to all of you!

How to compose a great teacher’s day speech.

You have been invited to give a speech on Teacher’s Day, and everyone is excited about it. But, prior, you pick up a pen and paper to write what you think, consider it the most significant speech.

How many instances have you attended a lecture and half slept through it? A great speech includes well-crafted words, focus, length, speaker functions, and some other elements that we will talk about in this article.

So, prior you put pen to paper, read on to find out how to prepare a great speech; one that will be admired by your teachers, fellow students, and will get you a place in the school’s great hall of fame.

Keep a format in mind

A long speech without a break will exhaust your audience. So, before you start playing a pen, prepare your speech. It will give you a rough sketch of everything in your mind; You will want to be an element of your speech.

Break your speech into appropriate paragraphs and sub-heads. Write relevant content under each sub-head. But ensure that the material should be gelled with a sub-head.

If your sub-head centred on a particular topic and the content below it is going in a different direction, it can be a great speech to impress your audience and indeed a fantastic speech.

Opening address and speech

The opening address should be clear, crisp, and to the viewpoint.

Begin by addressing your principal, fellow students, teachers, and other audiences present on the premises.

Your speech should talk about the significance of Teacher’s Day. It includes what changes had seen since its beginning in 1962, and the role it played in the growth of the nation.

Include some references or examples of great teachers shaping the education system in the country, such as Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan , Savitribai Phule, APJ Abdul Kalam , Drs. Aseema Chatterjee and Drs. Manmohan Singh.

It will give your speech a genuinely global appeal if you can also include the names of some famous foreign teachers.

The debate about the Indian educational system is huge. Things like how it has advanced, the operation of Gurudakshina and Gurukul, and how, over the period, the educational system has altered; but the importance remains the same.

Keep it short

You will have a lot to say to your teachers and fellow students, so keep your speech length short.

Long speeches can often be boring unless they have something new to tell the audience. Take a leaf from history.

The Gettysburg Address was the shortest speech by US President Abraham Lincoln with just 272 words and lasted for about two minutes. However, it is considered one of the greatest speeches not only in the United States but worldwide. So, say a low but powerful word.

Actions speak louder than words

Do not read a speech like you were forced to do it. No matter how important and meaningful the names are, they will lose appeal if the speaker is devoid of any emotions. Therefore, be interactive using your hands, facial expressions, actions, and feelings.

Attract your audience, entertain them, inform them, and your speech will become memorable. But take care not to overplay it, as it will give you a humorous look.

Do not fab while presenting your speech; This is a significant change.

A great speech requires a great ending. No matter how to amplify the statement, a sudden ending will leave the audience disappointed and weeping. Pay attention to the end.

Use quotes from some excellent academics or personalities to give your speech a suitable ending. And if you have a creative instinct, you can make a memorable quote to end in speech.

The ending should be something that will make your speech memorable and can be referenced by an upcoming generation of students.

How to appreciate your teachers or students in your teachers' day speech

Not only students, but teachers also express their views to the students because their profession is nothing without their students.

If you are looking for tips on how you can draft a heart touching speech for teachers’ day, don’t worry we’ve got some suggestions for you (teacher or student).

But remember, the only key to give a heartwarming speech is Authenticity.

importance of being authentic or genuine in your teachers' day speech

Tips to Remember Before you Draft your Teachers’ Day Speech:

1)  appreciate, do not exaggerate.

When you give a speech on occasions like teachers’ day, it demands you to be authentic while sharing your experiences or showing gratitude. Being authentic will help you make your speech pure and impressive at the same time.

Try to articulate your feelings in the simplest form which will make your speech sound genuine.

Exaggeration in a speech might make you lose your credibility, making it sound unreal.

In case of students giving a speech for their teachers, you can appreciate their efforts, praise them, or the way in which they helped you garner knowledge, improve your skills, grow confidence as well as to help you choose the right path to success.

In short, when thinking about the best way to thank your teacher/s, consider what exceptional they did or above their call of duty? How did they inspire you or change your thinking? Did they inspire some new academic avocation or activity? What skills will you hold dear in future?

You are basically trying to acknowledge the efforts that your teachers have put in. So try and make your acknowledgement sound genuine and speak from your heart and not just for the sake of saying it.

In case of teachers giving a speech on teachers’ day, you can talk more on the lines of how your students have been motivating you or how happy you are to see their efforts to do better everyday, for instance, showing their interests in the extracurricular activities or competitions.

Pro tip- Do not overdo it, for instance over praising your teachers or students, the listeners will understand it is not coming from your heart.

2) Dedicate your Thoughts

The speaker should be expressive about one’s emotions. Your speech is dedicated to the event of Teachers’ day, so everything you speak has to support the event.

For students giving a speech on teachers’ day, the speaker can dedicate the speech mainly to acknowledge his teachers, communicate gratitude towards them and applaud them for being a beacon of light in their lives.

For teachers giving a speech on teachers’ day, you can talk more about why it is celebrated, the importance of a teacher in a student’s life, what motivates you to be a teacher.

3) The PURPOSE should be at the Heart of your Speech

One thing you need to bear in your mind is the purpose of your speech. Purpose means, why is the speech drafted or for what are you drafting the speech.

For instance, in case of students , the speech is drafted for your teachers in order to pay them a tribute or acknowledge their efforts.

Similarly, in case of teachers , your speech is drafted for the students as well the fellow teachers, so your purpose of talking would be the joy you experience while teaching or guiding your students or expressing your gratitude for the efforts the students have taken to make your day special.

Therefore, your speech needs to revolve much around teachers’ day, so that you don’t deviate from the purpose of your speech.

4) Duration of the Speech

The goal of any speaker is to make his speech memorable and at the same time the one which has a long-lasting impact.

While drafting your speech, try to keep it short and sweet, as it is more likely to hold your audiences’ attention. It also forces you to say what you mean and nothing more. Meaning, you will cover only those points that are central to your message or speech.

Stick to your topic and then draft your speech accordingly – use as few words as possible and limited anecdotes to retain your audiences’ attention without sacrificing the essential information.

Make sure the points you want to make come out clearly.

We’ve written an article on How to Deliver a 1 Minute Speech: Tips, Examples, Topics & More . Check it out to get some tips on how you can deliver a short speech.

After keeping in mind these few suggestions, the next step would be to organize your content, so that your speech flows smoothly.

Here’s an article on How to make your speech flow smoothly . You can review this article to get a better understanding regarding the same.

In order to give a clear and a structured speech, your speech needs to be divided into three parts, mainly- Introduction, Body and Conclusion.

How to Organize your Teachers’ Day Speech?

1) introduction.

An introduction can be best considered as the foundation of your speech. Just as you can’t build a building without forming its base, you cannot build your speech until and unless you don’t introduce your topic.

Introducing your topic will help you gain the audiences’ attention because you’re revealing the purpose of you standing in front of them.

The goal is to start your speech with impact and to do this, you can start by telling a story or a quote, or by asking an interesting question.

Here’s an article that we’ve written on various storytelling approaches that you can consider for your next speech.

You can start your speech with, say like a story or a quote and then connect it to the occasion of Teachers’ day or teachers in general.

For instance, a student can start his speech with a hypothetical situation, supposing a life without a teacher and then connect it to being thankful for having them in your life as torch bearers.

A teacher can start her speech by expressing her gratitude towards the program that has been organized for them along with a few lines regarding why is teachers’ day celebrated

To start your speech with a bang, you can review the article that we wrote on 15 powerful speech opening lines and how to create your own.

After choosing an impactful opening remark, the next part would be the body of your speech.

Oftentimes, more importance is given to the opening and closing remarks and everything in between is considered to be filler. This should not be the case because the body of a speech is where you offer the evidence or data to support your main message.

Taking the previous example in case of students , you can actually start expressing your gratitude towards them, recognize their efforts, explain their importance in your life, and much more.

In case of teachers , you can build your speech on the basis of how your students motivate you or how you feel about teaching as a profession, or what joy you experience while teaching.

3) Conclusion

The conclusion of your speech should restate your main message.

You basically summarize the main points of your speech which will help you to create a long-lasting impression in the minds of your audience.

You can end your speech in much the same way you began- with a story, quotation, or a question.

In case of students ending their Teachers’ day speech, you can thank your teachers for being an essential part of your journey.

In case of teachers ending their Teachers’ day speech, they can provide a bunch of advice to their students.

We have a few suggestions or tips on Ways to end your speech with maximum impact .

To make this simple, here are some points that you can cover while drafting your speech.

Education without teachers is like a body without a soul.  “A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instill a love of learning” , says Brad Henry. Let’s pick the first keyword over here – ‘HOPE’. A teacher is capable of returning the lost light in a student’s life. Therefore, teachers are the torch bearers who show us the path of success and walk us through the entire path until we achieve something. Today we all have gathered here to celebrate the presence of those unsung heroes without whom no profession would have existed, our teachers. It is said that parents give birth to a child, but it is the Teacher who makes sure that the child is not only raised as a tough individual, but also as an ideal citizen. We students have sometimes made it so difficult for a teacher to survive, especially if we personally find a subject boring, but it is the teacher who has made us learn a lesson which is To Never Give Up. Even if we are disrespectful, intolerant, and sometimes cross all our limits of being bearable, she still continues to motivate us.  What a teacher writes on the blackboard of life can never be erased. The values, the skills and the life lessons taught by them are something we all will hold dear in our lives. You are the reason behind our dreams and our farsightedness. You have prepared us to become the fittest and the finest individuals. Without your presence we wouldn’t have learnt how to dream. Thank you for guiding us when we were wrong and being on your toes to get the best out of us, we all are very grateful to have you all as our teachers. I would like to conclude my speech through a short poem called Teachers by Kevin William Huff that summarizes the role of a teacher in a student’s life. Teachers Inspire a love of knowledge and truth As you light the path which leads our youth For our future brightens with each lesson your teach Each smile you lengthen Each goal you help reach For the dawn of each poet, each philosopher and king Begins with a teacher And the wisdom they bring

I remember one of my teachers telling me this, “Beyond the undone and unseen lies the unachieved.” Meaning, to do something that nobody has done or seen and that’s when you will achieve what nobody has. To achieve something extraordinary you need to conquer the 3 D’s- Desire, Determination and Discipline.  Desire means being passionate about something you love.  Determination refers to being dedicated towards something that you are passionate about. Discipline refers to practicing what you are determined about. As teachers, we strongly believe it is our key responsibility to dig in the foundation to construct pillars of great strength. And I truly appreciate the efforts all the teachers have been putting in so as to achieve this. Before I sign off for the day I would like to give you all a piece of advice. Each one of you is different, each one of you has a different caliber, challenge yourself and chase your dreams. There will be a time in your life when you might fail, but don’t give up. Your success lies without your level of patience. Do great for the society and help everyone possible. Never take your profession on your head because at first, you have to be a good human before becoming a good professional. Hence, I proudly say teaching for me is sacred and I revere teaching as a profession.

Long Speech on Teacher’s Day for Students

Respected Principal, teachers, dear students, and esteemed guests,

Good morning to all of you,

Today, we are gathered here to celebrate a day that holds immense significance in our lives – Teacher's Day. This day provides us with an opportunity to express our deep appreciation for the invaluable contributions that our teachers make to our education and personal growth.

Teachers are the architects of our futures. They are the guiding lights that illuminate the path of knowledge, wisdom, and character-building for us. Their impact goes far beyond the classroom, shaping not only our academic pursuits but also our values, aspirations, and outlook on life. As we celebrate Teacher's Day, it is essential to reflect on the profound role teachers play in moulding us into responsible citizens and lifelong learners.

The history of Teacher's Day dates back to the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a distinguished philosopher, scholar, and teacher. His dedication to education and his belief in the power of knowledge to transform lives have left an indelible mark on our society. It was his humility and commitment that led him to suggest that his birthday should be celebrated not as his own, but as a day to honour teachers. This gesture exemplifies the humility and selflessness that define the teaching profession.

The journey of education cannot be traversed alone. It requires the guidance, mentorship, and support of dedicated teachers who nurture us along the way. They invest their time, energy, and passion in ensuring that we are equipped with the tools we need to succeed, both academically and in life. They believe in us even when we doubt ourselves and encourage us to reach for the stars.

Every teacher is unique and brings their own style and approach to the classroom. Some teachers are strict taskmasters, pushing us to achieve our best, while others are compassionate listeners, ready to offer a guiding hand when we face challenges. Regardless of their methods, all teachers share a common goal – to empower us with knowledge and skills that will enable us to thrive in an ever-changing world.

The impact of a teacher goes beyond academic subjects. They are role models who teach us values like honesty, empathy, and perseverance. They inspire us to be curious, to question the world around us, and to seek knowledge beyond the confines of textbooks. Teachers shape our character, instil in us a sense of responsibility towards society, and encourage us to contribute positively to the world.

Think back to the teachers who have left a lasting impression on your life. Perhaps it was a teacher who patiently explained a difficult concept until you grasped it, a teacher who recognized your potential and encouraged you to pursue your passions or a teacher who offered a listening ear and words of comfort during challenging times. These are the teachers who go above and beyond, and who make a difference not only in our education but in our hearts.

As we celebrate Teacher's Day, let us not forget the challenges that teachers face. The teaching profession is one of dedication and sacrifice. Teachers often work long hours, spend countless evenings grading papers, and invest their own resources to create engaging learning experiences for us. It is important that we acknowledge their efforts and show our appreciation not just on this day but throughout the year.

So, how can we make this Teacher's Day meaningful? Firstly, let us express our gratitude. A simple "thank you" can go a long way in letting our teachers know that their hard work is recognized and valued. Secondly, let us strive to be active participants in our education. Engage in class discussions, ask questions, and take ownership of your learning journey. Lastly, let us carry forward the lessons our teachers have taught us. Let's be kind, curious, and committed to making a positive impact on the world around us.

In conclusion, let us celebrate Teacher's Day with genuine appreciation for the teachers who shape our lives. Let us honour their dedication, recognize their impact, and express our heartfelt gratitude. Remember that the knowledge and values they impart will continue to influence us long after we leave the school gates. As we embark on our journey of learning and growth, let us carry the torch of knowledge that our teachers have passed on to us and make them proud in all our endeavours.

How To Conclude Teacher's Day Speech?

  • Extend gratitude to your listeners and offer a heartfelt "thank you."
  • Concluding with a resonant quote about teachers while expressing your sincere appreciation can be especially impactful.
  • Don't shy away from weaving in your encounters and experiences, as these anecdotes can infuse authenticity and emotion into your speech, making it all the more impactful.

Good morning everyone! Initially, I welcome you all to this graceful day. Respected principal, teachers, and my dear fellow students, I feel privileged to have gotten the chance to share my views about teachers and their role in society.

Dear audience, since we have gathered here to celebrate one of the most beautiful and glorious days in the calendar, I would like to take this opportunity to read you a little poem on teachers called “I Want to Be Like You” by Joanna Fuchs.

Thank you, teacher, for being my life’s role model. When I consider all you’ve taught me and reflect on the kind of person you are, I want to be like you— smart, interesting and engaging, positive, confident, yet unpretentious. I want to be like you— well-informed and easy to understand, thinking with your heart as well as your head, gently nudging us to do our best, with sensitivity and insight. I want to be like you— giving your time, energy and talent to ensure the brightest possible future for each of us. Thank you, teacher For giving me a goal to shoot for: I want to be like you! ~By Joanna Fuchs

All in all, the poem sums up that teachers play a vital role in the lives of every student. Because they help us build a bridge towards a successful future sacrificing a happy time with their friends and family; and working harder every minute of their lives. They are basically the reason why ordinary students like us dream extraordinary things.

With that being said, I would like to end my speech by thanking our dear teachers for offering a hand, opening our minds and touching our hearts.

A teacher is like Spring, Who nurtures new green sprouts, Encourages and leads them, Whenever they have doubts. A teacher is like Summer, Whose sunny temperament Makes studying a pleasure, Preventing discontent. A teacher is like Fall, With methods crisp and clear, Lessons of bright colors And a happy atmosphere. A teacher is like Winter, While it’s snowing hard outside, Keeping students comfortable, As a warm and helpful guide. Teacher, you do all these things, With a pleasant attitude; You’re a teacher for all seasons, And you have my gratitude! ~By Joanna Fuchs

A very good morning/evening, ladies and gentlemen. Today we have gathered here to celebrate one of the most honorable occasions. We are here to celebrate teachers day and honor the hard work and contributions of teachers in our day to day routine and most importantly our future. Dear audience, teachers day is celebrated every year all around the globe at different dates probably but it is celebrated with a similar purpose. Generally, 5th September is dedicated to teachers to show appreciation and acknowledge the role of teachers in our lives.

Thus, I am sure you are voluntarily enthusiastic to join us and pay your tributes not only to your beloved teachers but also to all the teachers out there who are always ready to take part in shaping our personalities, helping us build a happy and successful future and to make us become an ideal citizen of our society. Moreover, there is a special reason behind celebrating 5th September as teachers day in India. Because 5th September is the birthday of   Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan . He was highly devoted to education. Professionally, he was a well-known scholar, philosopher, statesman, first vice president of India, second president of India, and most importantly, a great teacher.

In 1962, when he was selected as the president of India, he was asked by students if he would like them to celebrate his birthday on 5th September. However, he refused and told them that it would be better if they dedicate 5th September to teachers. Since then, students all around India have been celebrating 5th September as the teachers day to honor the teachers and the teaching profession.

For all the students out there, teachers day play a  vital role and help them to pay tribute and gratitude to their teachers for their precious and selfless efforts in shaping their character and future. Besides, teachers have an important role in the development of the education system in our society. Because they not only teach us the school subjects but also they teach us the good ways of living our lives.

Furthermore, they are some of the best inspirations and motivation for us. Besides, they help us to tackle any difficult situations and problems we get while we are working on our future dreams.

Thus, in order to conclude my speech, I would like to say that I am grateful to all the teachers out there for being the lighthouse guiding us through both easy and difficult moments of life. Thank You!

Long Speech on Teachers Day Celebration

Introduction.

A very warm welcome to all my respected teachers and everyone present here. Today I am here to deliver a speech on Teachers’ Day. I would like to start my speech by thanking all my beloved teachers for always guiding us and bestowing us with all the teachings, moral values, and discipline. Teachers’ Day in India is celebrated every year on the 5th of September to mark the birthday of our second President, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Dr. Radhakrishnan was the first Vice President of India. He was also a great scholar, an ideal teacher, and a Bharat Ratna recipient. He was born on 5th September 1888 . It was after becoming the President of India, some of his friends and students approached Dr. Radhakrishnan to celebrate his birthday. To this, he replied that instead of celebrating his birthday on this particular date, it would be his privilege if 5th September is celebrated as Teachers’ Day all over India. Thereafter, 5th September is celebrated every year to honour our beloved teachers who nourish and prepare us for a better future.

Teachers are our supporting pillars who play an important role in guiding us throughout our student life. They give their best to teach us valuable lessons in life and are our role models whom we look up to. I equally want to thank my parents for being my first mentors and supporting me in each and every step of my life. On this occasion, I would like to request my parents as well as my teachers to continue guiding me the same way.

It is said that the future of a particular country lies in the hands of its children. Thus, a teacher has a major role to play in shaping the future of the students and helping us become successful in our respective careers.

Teacher’s Day is thus celebrated to honour the hardships as well as to acknowledge their special role in our lives. It is a day full of excitement, activities, and special performances that are organized by the students, especially for their teachers. Teachers’ Day is not only celebrated in India but also is celebrated worldwide to appreciate the power of teaching. Different countries celebrate this day on different dates. But, UNESCO officially declared the 5th of October as the World Teachers’ Day in 1994.

Last but not least, I would like to end my speech by thanking you all for providing me with an opportunity to deliver a speech on my beloved teachers on this occasion of Teachers’ Day. I feel proud to call myself a student of this institution which has helped me evolve as a better person and has given me a passion to learn new things every day.

I would like to start by wishing all my respected teachers a very Happy Teachers’ Day. It is because of your hard work and dedication that we as students learn and grow into a better person every day. I would like to thank all the teachers for always standing with us as a supportive pillar and correcting our numerous mistakes. To mark their hard work towards teaching and honour them with appreciation, Teachers’ Day is celebrated all over India on 5th September.

Celebration of Teachers’ Day was started by the first Vice President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was born on 5th September 1888. He was also the second President of India and a great scholar. He had a passion for teaching and was also awarded the Bharat Ratna. Once when some of his students asked to celebrate his birthday, Dr. Radhakrishnan told them that he would be very honoured if instead of celebrating 5th September as his birthday, they celebrated it as Teachers' Day. This truly shows how much he was dedicated to teaching and passionate about paying respect to all the teachers. Thus, every year we celebrate Teachers’ Day to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Despite being from a poor brahmin family, his thirst for knowledge never reduced. He was elected as the second President of India. The great philosopher's birthday is regarded as Teachers day. This day is special for every teacher and student. On this day, we students show our gratitude towards our teachers.

Even during this pandemic, our teacher has never stopped teaching us. Even if they are suffering from a deadly pandemic, they have taught us through various virtual platforms. We are grateful to our teachers for giving us love. Despite facing problems, they have given us the strength to fight against this deadly pandemic. Even though we are still trapped in our houses and missing our friends and the warmth of our classrooms, still through the virtual platform, seeing our teacher’s smile makes our day.

It is a great honour for me to give this speech and express my gratitude and respect towards my teachers on this auspicious day. We will always be your students, no matter how big we become. Thank you, teachers, for always staying with us.

Long Speech on Teacher’s Day Celebration – 3

Good Morning Teachers and My Loving Students – Warm Greetings to Everyone!

Teachers are a very integral part of our lives, and they need to be rewarded for their efforts and hard work. So as the Principal of this school, I am here to present a speech on the teacher’s day celebration before you.

The date, i.e., 5 th September, is marked by the birthday of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, and thus, today we celebrate teacher’s day on his commemoration. Students like you celebrate this day with a lot of happiness and joy. You all present gifts and sweets to your teachers as you respect them for their efforts and work. Teachers teach the entire day and neglect everything in their lives to make their students achieve something in their life and reach great heights.

Being a teacher is not easy; teaching your students the entire day without sitting on the chair and understanding your strengths and weaknesses and then polishing it in the right manner. A teacher contributes to a student’s life by checking your assignments and registers and even taking them back home to complete all of them at the right time. They get back home, prepare lectures for the next day, and devise various methods so that every student is well versed with the concept.

This helps the students’ overall growth, and they get motivated to study in the right and appropriate manner. In certain circumstances, you as a student get offended when your teacher scolds you but you all should understand that they scold you to make you a smarter human being, and you do not repeat those mistakes in life. They do this all for your good and your successful career.

Have you ever realized what your teacher gets for so much hard work? The answer is nothing; they become happy when they see you achieving success in life. That’s the moment for them when they feel that all the hard work they have put into their students has been achieved. It’s a saying that “when we grow a plant and nurture it and when it grows taller, it makes us happy” in the same way, teachers feel proud when they see you making successful careers.

Teachers not only build a life of only one student but the entire generation through their ideas and knowledge. If we get a great teacher, you as students never forget them your entire life because you realize that whatever you are today is all because of the hard work and motivation they had put in when you were in your growing up ages.

I hope my speech has motivated you always to respect your teachers as they are your gurus without whom you can’t achieve anything in your life. Always remember that teachers are your second parents who are a guiding light in your and everyone’s lives.

Thank you, everyone!

Long Speech on the Importance of Teachers – 4

Hon’ble Principal, Vice Principal, Teachers, and Dear Students – Warm greetings to everyone!

As an alumnus of this school, I am here to present a speech on teachers’ importance on the auspicious occasion of teacher’s day. Teachers are the backbone of any society, whether in India or the world. You would believe that whatever we have achieved in our lives is all because of our teachers.

A teacher’s job is very challenging as they don’t only teach, but they also need to do their homework, which includes checking their registers and pinpointing every mistake they have committed. This work becomes too challenging and responsible. If a teacher’s eye cannot catch even one mistake, you would all commit the same mistake again. The teacher needs to be too vigilant to correct their mistakes.

It is rightly pointed out that the first teachers in our lives are our parents; secondary to them are the teachers in schools who act as a link between the school and the students. They are the ones who recognize and understand our weaknesses and put all their efforts into rectifying those problems with us. We need teachers in every phase of our lives, whether in schools or colleges. A teacher’s role is one that nobody can understand. They never let us know they are facing certain life issues. Once they enter the classrooms, then it’s just them and us. They have kept their personal and professional lives separate and never let their problems hamper our studies and education.

They impart knowledge to the extent that every student understands the concept easily and flexibly. They mold us into better human beings that sometimes even our parents fail to counsel us, and they also go to the teachers to counsel us in the right manner. Our teachers have always gone the extra mile to explain every bit of our doubts until we understand the concept to the core.

They keep themselves updated with all the happenings around the world so they can share those things with us. Teachers spend their entire lives on us, demanding nothing in return.

We must take a moment to admire and appreciate our teachers for whatever they have done for us. Teacher’s day is the right occasion to explain to them what they mean to us and how important they are, without whom our lives would have been meaningless. They are guiding souls who never expect anything in return but pray for us to be good human beings and achieve successful careers.

Thus, what they require from us is to study well, which will, in turn, benefit us. We must bring a smile to their faces for whatever they have done for us. So always remember to respect and value teachers in your lives.

Teachers Day Long Speech by Students – 5

On the occasion of Teacher’s day, I, Kunal Gupta, am here to present a speech on our beloved teachers!

Everyone will agree that teacher’s day is one of the most exciting days in our lives, and we as students get an opportunity to teach and behave like our teachers. Many of our students here are dressed in Sarees to teach in classrooms and act the same way our teachers do. Our teachers get off today and have a chance to enjoy the day with their family and friends since the whole year they spend time with us, forgetting their issues in life.

We all know that it is difficult to define the term ‘teacher.’ They guide us on the right track and help us understand which career to choose as they know us more than anybody else. They develop our overall character and personality, which make us confident individuals and provide us the strength to deal with all sorts of life problems.

Teachers are like second parents who have a good influence on our lives, and whenever we need them, they are always present to help us get out of a problem. We have someday imitated our teachers as we believe them to be our role models as they provide us everything we need to make ourselves a good personality.

There are certain qualities that every teacher possesses:

  • They Interact with Students: Interaction creates a bridge between teachers and us. Whenever we feel low, we always think of our teachers, and interaction helps us to overcome those feelings. They not only impart knowledge regarding our subjects but also share experiences of their lives which help us analyze our lives and apply the same advice.
  • Motivation and Enthusiasm: All teachers here would agree that they always come with a bright smile and energy whenever they enter the classrooms, which keeps us motivated and active all day long. We admire our teachers and try to become like them.
  • Hard work and Dedication: Teachers are an inspiration for all of us. Their commitment towards us, which lets us grow, and their confidence in us that we will get good marks to make us believe in ourselves and study with dedication as we think we won’t let our teacher’s trust break.

Ultimately, I would like to thank all my teachers for the hard work they put on us, which helped us grow correctly. Teachers, you all are our guiding force who won’t let us fall and make us realize that there is success waiting for us after every failure, so we shouldn’t give up in our lives. From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to appreciate your efforts to make us believe in ourselves and realize that we are on the right path towards a successful future.

Teachers Day Long Speech by Teacher – 6

Good Morning Respected Principal, Vice Principal, colleagues, and My Dear Students!

I am honored to deliver a thank you speech on behalf of our teachers. Today the 5 th of September, is an exciting day for all my colleagues and me. I welcome you all to this joyous ceremony today as we commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a great scholar and a great teacher.

My dear students, with great pleasure, I would thank you for putting up wonderful plays and dances for all of us and for keeping us entertained the entire day. As teachers, we have built some wonderful memories with your students for years. We respect your gratitude towards us.

Teachers become great not only because of knowledge but also because students play a very important role in our lives. You make us understand who we are and what we mean to you. We, too, commit mistakes on certain occasions, but you all help us realize those mistakes. Sometimes we underestimate your strengths, but you all proved today that every student here has some or other capabilities hidden inside them.

In certain circumstances, we hurl or scold you for your mistakes but never think that we hate you but we do this because we all love you and want to prepare you as a human being for the greater challenges ahead in life. We want you all to climb the ladder of success and never look back. Our happiness and grief are connected with you all. When you are sad, we too feel sad, and at that moment, we want you to get up and fight with those instances and adopt a never give up attitude.

We feel proud of your achievements in your studies or extracurricular activities over the years. We understand that every individual has different abilities, and we help you find that by pointing out your mistakes to realize where you are going wrong in life. Your sweet memories and gestures towards us will always remain in our hearts.

We will always persuade you all to move in the right direction through which you gain success. Even if you fail at any given point in life, remember my saying, “After every sunset, there will be a sunrise.” Failures will always make you strong and forget your weaknesses. Always show a never give up attitude.

At this point, I would give you some advice that, my dear students, always see yourselves as a good human beings and develop the right attitude. Never forget that you must always respect and show gratitude to those who help you in your lives. Never allow negative thinking to influence your personality, as it always leads you to the wrong path. Be kind and fair to all human beings, and always pray to god to guide you on the right path through which you can achieve greatness, optimistic thinking, and values.

On behalf of my colleagues, I thank you for the joyful day you have put together for us and wish you all the best in your future endeavors. May god bless you all!

Thank you very much!

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening Everyone – Our Respected Principal, Vice Principal, Loving Teachers and My Dear Friends; Warm Greetings to Everyone!

A teacher creates human beings and instills in them values, care, love and respect. A teacher is the one who puts into the mind of the child the meaning of his/her life on earth. You teachers are our inspiration and lighthouse who shows us the right path and always guide us to follow the road less traveled. Wishing you all a very “Happy Teachers day” .

Teachers are the building blocks of our lives. They act secondarily to our parents. This day is celebrated not only in our country but all over the world where students give respect to their beloved teachers and prepare for various activities like Dance, Thanksgiving speeches, Prayer, etc., in a similar pattern we all students present here have also prepared something special for our teachers.

Speaking further on today’s events, we have a lot of events lined up for today’s function, courtesy to our students and support staff. Almost all of the events have been managed by the students alone, to surprise the teachers. We love you teachers for accepting us the way we are, we always feel and experience gentle heart every time when you come to us. We do accept that you all do have certain personal issues like every individual do but you forget your personal problems and give us the smile which makes our day and gives us the inspiration to face the problems of life.

Teachers have always acted as guides who play an important role in changing a student into a responsible individual. They serve us selflessly so that we can attain our dreams and objectives. Their contribution is not only limited to schools/colleges, but also to the entire country as they also create and develop responsible and obedient citizens. Thus, after parents, our teachers should receive the respect and gratitude. Teachers’ day is celebrated as a special event in different schools and colleges all over the world. We students want to make this day special for our teachers by offering you flowers and greeting cards from our side as a small token of respect and gratitude.

Teachers demand nothing from us but teach us with the hope that one day we will become successful in our lives. Thus, we as students have the responsibility to work hard in our studies and make our teachers and students proud. Working hard in studies is not the only duty, but we also need to carry forward the moral values that our teachers have taught us to the future generation. The most important thing is to value and respect our amazing teachers.

It is a day for the teachers to relax and see what the students have planned to thank, honor, entertain and felicitate them. Teachers, we the students love you all and today we are going to show you that. At the end of the day we all will return happy and content, more or less, as a reflection of each other. I hope that the celebrations of today will remain forever in our memories and always remind us of this wonderful phase of life when we progressed together.

In the end, I would just like to thank all my teachers for the hard work they put on us which helps us grow in the right manner. You all are our guiding spirits who won’t let us fall and make us realize that after every failure there is success waiting for us, so we should never give up in our lives. With the bottom of our hearts, we would like to appreciate your efforts to make us believe in ourselves and make us realize that we are on the right path towards our future.

Once again I welcome you all to this almost festive occasion of “Teachers Day” to witness the emotional bond between teachers and students. Welcome Speech in English: Best Samples, Examples & Tips

Why are welcome speeches necessary.

Most of the gatherings and ceremonies are held with a purpose. They are either planned events or spontaneous gatherings. In both cases, it is important to know how to organize such events. We must prepare ourselves to conduct the event properly.

Let us imagine that you are hosting a gathering. You have prepared everything, including food, drinks, decorations, etc., and even set up the stage. However, you forgot one thing – a welcome speech. What happens next? Do you start talking immediately without waiting for everyone to arrive? Of course not!

The same goes for a meeting. How many times did you attend meetings where people didn’t introduce themselves? Or worse, they talked about themselves too much during the meeting. In addition, some speakers talk directly to the audience without introducing themselves. This makes it difficult for the attendees to comprehend the event’s process and connect with its objectives.

So why is a welcome speech in English needed? To begin with, it is necessary to give a brief overview of the topic. Secondly, it helps to provide information about the organization and its history. Thirdly, it allows us to highlight our achievements. And finally, it creates a good impression on guests. Otherwise, they might ask questions like “Where is this event going?”.

Significance of welcome speech

The significance of the welcome speech won’t be apparent without understanding what makes up the history of an event. An event can be defined as a sequence of activities carried out over a period of time. These activities are usually organized into stages, each with a specific purpose. For example, an event may start with opening remarks, followed by a keynote address, and finally concluded with closing remarks. Each stage of an event has a different set of responsibilities.

In the case of a welcoming ceremony, the welcome speech is considered to be one of the most important parts of the whole gathering. In fact, it is the most crucial aspect of the entire event. This is because the welcome speech serves several purposes.

First, it introduces the guests to the host. Second, it provides information regarding the upcoming program. Third, it creates a positive impression among the attendees. Fourth, it helps in creating a sense of unity among the participants. Fifth, it helps in establishing good relations between the hosts and the guests. And finally, it ensures that the guest feels comfortable during the occasion.

Objectives of a Welcome Speech in English

The objective of a welcome speech in English is to introduce yourself and the rest of the attendees at the event. This is done through a short introduction about who you are, what you do, why you’re attending, etc. The following are the objectives of a welcome speech:

  • Introduce yourself
  • Provide Information regarding the event
  • Create a positive impression among attendees
  • Establish good relations between hosts and guests
  • Ensure guests feel comfortable during the event
  • Help build unity among participants
  • Explain the purpose of the meeting/event
  • Set up the agenda for the meeting/event
  • Make introductions
  • Give background info about the organization
  • Highlight achievements (if any)

Welcome Speech Samples in the Education Field

There is a number of school gatherings that require welcome speeches, be it an official school gathering or an informal event. In this segment, we’ve sorted samples according to the typical events organized in schools. Take note of each paragraph and determine its purpose. You’ll be able to create a workable framework or basis for your current and future speech requirements.

Welcome Address in English For Students

It’s natural for attendees of any event to expect an introductory speech, which sets the tone for the occasion. A host can easily command attention with an effective welcome. Even the longest speeches have the capacity to hold an audience’s interest when delivered in a catchy and impressive manner.

A short opening speech for a commencement ceremony

To everyone present, good morning. A very warm welcome to our respected faculty, our remarkable parents, and our dear students. Special recognition is due for our Chief Guest (name of chief guest). It’s a true honor to have such a successful alumnus (or state the chief guest’s job title). We express our biggest gratitude for accepting our invitation to deliver today’s keynote speech.

I’m standing here as a lucky witness to our dear students’ academic journey. Our school is very proud of everything you have accomplished and your small but not minor contributions to society. You’ve brought prestige to our name and deserve the title of one of our school’s most successful and dedicated batch of students.

With your teachers’ guidance and parents’ support, you’ve reached remarkable heights. I’d like to take this time to extend my gratitude to our faculty and our parents, for understanding, encouraging, and nurturing our students.

Graduates, you are about to start another chapter in your life. An exciting yet scary period. From now on, you will face more challenges, but I am confident that you’re adequately equipped to face any tribulation that comes your way. Remember that with conviction and self-belief, no mountain is too high to climb. The laurels you’ve brought back to our school are only the beginning. I am genuinely excited to see the astonishing feats that your futures hold.

A long opening speech for a commencement ceremony

Good morning everyone! I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our esteemed faculty, astounding parents, and our dear students. I’m honored to open our commencement ceremony and stand here where many of our accomplished alumni who I look up to once stood.

I extend a particularly warm welcome to our Chief Guest (name of chief guest), who as one of our outstanding alumni, has really set the standard for exemplary accomplishments.

(enumerate key achievements of chief guest)

Her/his professional and philanthropic endeavors attest to their upbringing and the values she/he lives by. We want to thank you for responding positively to our invitation to be the keynote speaker on today’s auspicious occasion.

As another academic year reaches its end, I’m sure that our dear students are anxious and also filled with hope and excitement. This is their final school event in our renowned school/college/university (name of school). But hopefully, it won’t be their last awarding ceremony.

We are extremely fortunate to have such a talented and passionate group of graduates who have earned laurels in honor of our school, adding to its distinction and great reputation. The amazing encouragement and unconditional support of our parents throughout the school year have been extraordinary. They have stood by their children in every school event. Our teachers and staff are truly thankful for the trust you’ve given us. Your children’s journey wouldn’t have been a huge success without your guidance and nurture.

It’s been a remarkable experience to witness the passion and commitment our students have exhibited in all their undertakings. I am filled with certitude that you will achieve whatever goal you’ve set your mind on. Adulthood is going to be jammed with more trials you’ve never imagined before. I am kidding. Maybe. Joking aside, you will win as long as you work hard and believe in yourself.

Remember that you are valuable and take every challenge you face as an opportunity to prove your worth and get better. Also, surround yourselves with people who are good for your well-being and treat them the way you’d like to be treated.

Maintain your sense of humor because not much else will get you through when the going gets rough. Life can be very special and you can truly make a mark, which doesn’t always need to have global proportions. Be accountable for your mistakes and learn from them. Keep nurturing your passions and remain as driven, bright, and astonishing as you are today. You are all wonderful and I can’t wait to see your future accomplishments, because they will be great.

Thank you and do us proud!

Welcome Speech for Teachers Day

Good morning! We welcome everyone today who is here to celebrate this annual event for their beloved teachers. We don’t always get to thank our teachers, but on this day, we pay tribute to our second parents.

They have provided guidance and given their light to educate and lead us to a journey of wonder, discovery, and knowledge. For their efforts, they deserve the greatest of honors and our utmost respect.

Our steadfast yet affectionate teachers should be our role models. They inspire us daily and motivate us to reach our greatest potential. They impart wisdom so that we don’t only excel academically, but as good people and responsible members of our society.

Welcome Speech for Children’s Day

Good morning everybody!

Today we extend our appreciation and the warmest embrace to our beloved students to celebrate Children’s Day!

It’s been a blessing to be a part of nurturing children’s sense of wonder and imagination. These are qualities we often lose as we grow up, and it’s awesome to witness them happen every day.

Children’s innocence and love are incomparable and difficult to resist. Their smile is the closest thing to heaven that we can glimpse in the world.

School is your children’s second home, and we teachers are their second parents. We thank you for the opportunity to take care of and guide your little angels.

Join us to celebrate our students and make this day as eventful and fun as it can be!

Welcome Speech for Freshers Party

Welcome everyone to our Fresher’s party!

We’ve all gathered here today to celebrate the gift of possibilities and commence the experience of a new beginning.

It’s of utmost pleasure to welcome everyone, especially all my freshers to today’s festivities. I extend my deepest gratitude to all my teachers and everyone who helped make this event a reality. Look at this place, it’s amazing!

University or school life isn’t just about getting a higher education – brace yourself for the adventure of a lifetime! This is the period to create good memories and meet people who can be a permanent part of your academic and later professional lives. May you develop the relationships and acquire the necessary skills to succeed in life.

But for now, let’s leave our worries and cares out in the hall. Let’s celebrate your wise decision to matriculate in our institution. Our college has prepared special events and an entertainment program highlighting some of our talented students.

The next few hours will be memorable and exciting! Thank you for listening and let’s get on with it!

Have a good time!

Welcome Speech Samples for Business

Much like in academic settings, there are more formal events that happen in professional contexts. Some may need a welcome address to introduce special guests or welcome the attendees of a conference. Some are informal events that welcome those who are invited to special occasions at the office and the people they’re honoring. Note down the key phrases and objectives of the samples below and use the same structure in your own welcome or introduction speech in English.

Sample of Welcome Speech for a Goodbye Get-together

Good evening everyone!

Welcome to my farewell party. I know, I know. You all said you’re sorry to see me go, but that you all would need food and entertainment first to deal with your sadness. So here we are. I shall deliver.

As the Semisonic song goes “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” And so it is with great gratitude that the VP in Japan decided to retire early, so the end of his role can mark the beginning of mine. To Toni Takitani, thanks for deciding you’ve had enough!

Kidding aside, I’d like to thank my friends who made this very corporate event a huge success. Look at this, my goodness!

Most importantly, I want to impart my profound gratitude to my boss (name of the boss). Without you, this party won’t have a band. I couldn’t ask for a better mentor. Or I could, but none of them would have changed my life as positively as you have. It saddens me to leave you the most, but it comforts me that you were my biggest source of encouragement to go. Or it may have been your plan all along. Genius!

So to everyone who came, thank you. I’ll have time to thank you properly later, but for now, let’s eat!

Welcome Speech Sample for a Business Conference

Good morning to everyone who came out to join us here today. My name is Julius Kaizer and I’ll be hosting today’s events.

Before anything else, I’d like to take this moment to thank Merville & Posque Inc., their CEO Mr. Hyori Asano and his team for putting this event together in record time. It won’t be possible without your tireless dedication and contributions. I also want to thank everyone who came, our remarkable associates from Osaka, Chiang Rai, and Quezon, our wonderful clients who have stuck with us through thick and thin, and our amazing consultants in various fields of energy conservation. Your interest and patronage are very much appreciated.

A great welcome to all our extraordinary employees and staff members, some of whom have worked and grown along our company’s 23-year history. A big welcome, too, to our interns who have recently joined and brightened our corporate offices.

Today marks the 15th annual MPBC and it’s an honor to be a host in this glorious congress. I myself will be staying for the conference’s entirety to learn what I can about sustainable energy systems and their various implications and impact on the future of our planet.

The activities today will include an overview of all the forums, seminars, and exhibits around the MPBC complex. Second, we will have the inauguration of the new bio-dome on the grounds where we will also honor this year’s retirees. The afternoon’s seminars will kick off after lunch, and I encourage you to attend the discussions and learn about our future plans and projects. Finally, I’d like to encourage everyone to help yourselves to the snack stations in the hallway. Refreshments and sandwiches are on us for the duration of the conference.

I won’t keep you long and let’s begin the day. I wish all of you a valuable and wonderful time! Thank you.

I hope you’ll learn a lot in the next few hours and I promise to try to make our activities as engaging and hands-on as possible. Good luck and thanks again for participating in our workshop.

Welcome Speech Samples for Family Functions

Huge family events often have speeches: weddings, birthdays, farewell parties, funerals, anniversaries, and so on. Some of these events normally have hosts and esteemed guests. Here are some tips and samples to inspire you.

Tips on Welcoming the Chief Guest?

If you’re searching for tips on how to make a welcome speech for guest, here are some things you can do:

  • When drafting your speech, do the research.
  • Highlight the key qualities that are worth mentioning in an opening welcome speech for event.
  • Take note of the welcome address speech sample in this article and create a framework from them.
  • Look up welcome speech quotes and choose the best one to use somewhere in your speech.
  • Greet the chief guest at the event personally and introduce yourself if you don’t know each other.
  • Extend your hard for a handshake and smile to express that they are honored and welcome to the event.
  • Smile and suggest they are being welcomed.
  • Address them formally with the usual Miss or Mr.
  • Escort the chief guest before you assume host duties.

Welcoming the Chief Guest with a Short Speech

It’s a great honor to welcome our Chief guest and tonight’s keynote speaker. I was worried at first about how to introduce (title and name of Chief guest) because any introduction would pale in comparison to the reality and immensity of her/his accomplishments.

(Enumerate the main accomplishments of the chief guest).

She/he is the ultimate inspiration for young professionals everywhere who want to succeed in the field of international trade. Here to inspire us with her career journey and all the experiences she accumulated along the day, join me in giving a round of applause to (title and name of chief guest).

Welcoming the Chief Guest (Longer Version of the Speech)

Introducing our next attendee is a great pleasure of mine. When she/he accepted our invitation to be tonight’s Chief guest and keynote speaker, I almost jumped for joy. Then I realized I would naturally receive the task of introducing her/him. At first, this gave me great anxiety. How would I be able to pull it off and deliver an introduction that would give her background justice? Then I thought, no introduction would ever compare, so it was foolish to aim for success when failure is guaranteed. So I decided to just do it. Our chief guest has accomplished the following, to name a few:

As I looked at her/his professional and personal successes, I realized here is a woman/man who was faced many times with the certainty of failure but had given her circumstances a grad twist by attaining success against all odds. Then I thought, perhaps I should aim for success in this speech, after all.

She/he is an inspiration to many, not only for all the fields of expertise she has earned and the extreme success that went with the process, but she/he has also set the benchmark for philanthropy and good deeds. She/he has done this quietly, too, and she/he might strangle me for revealing it to the public. I didn’t even know half of the wonderful things she/he has done for our community before my research.

Without further ado, and here to inspire us with her wisdom and grand skill, join me in welcoming our Chief guest (title and name of chief guest).

Welcome Speech for Parents

Hi everyone!

As host and brother of the groom, I’d like to take this time to introduce the parents of the bride. Without them, my brother wouldn’t be the lucky and happy man he is today. More than that, I have witnessed how they accepted my brother and treated him as a son long before the engagement. I often tag along on family trips and have spent hours of wonderful conversations with them. Apart from my own parents, they are two of the most affectionate and hospitable people I’ve ever met. If I could meet a woman whose parents are just like them, I’d consider myself half as lucky as my brother.

Let’s give a round of applause for (names of the bride’s parents). Thank you for embracing my brother into the fold.

Welcome Speech Samples for National Holidays

Below is a sample of a welcome speech typically delivered during Annual Day. Substitute the appropriate details to match your information and use the framework in other speeches reserved for national holidays.

Welcome Speech for Annual Day

I am overjoyed to have this chance to welcome all of you to our elite institution’s 25th Annual Day. Today’s children are the hope of the next generation. All these graduates we see today, receiving awards for their achievements will go on to lead successful lives. Let them live up to the expectations set before them.

I am very happy to be a member of such an elite school where we learned from such great professors who teach us beyond the boundaries of the ordinary classroom. They’re also the minds and hands behind such a big event every year. I’d like to use this chance to organize such a wonderful event this year. It’s also a great pleasure of mine to introduce our Chief Guest.

Welcome speeches are necessary at events. They usually set the tone or expectations of the people who attended or participated in the occasion. There are many ways in going about delivering a welcome address speech. Review the samples in this article and do your due diligence to craft an outline, framework, or skeleton from the contents that you can use in welcome speeches of your own.

Frequently Asked Questions

A good welcome speech has the following qualities: * It is sincere. * It can hold the attention of the audience. * The ideas don’t ramble. * Welcome address quotes are used. One for a short welcome speech, and 2 for a longer one. Never 3, unless the speaker is trying to be funny. * The contents are relevant to the event. * It has an impressive anecdote. * The length doesn’t exceed 5 minutes.

The last segment of this article contains tips on welcoming chief guests, esteemed guests, or guests of honor. The tips contained here can be divided into things to consider while drafting the welcome speech, and things to do at the event itself when meeting the chief guest.

A simple thank you would suffice. Make sure you reiterate your gratitude. Some welcome speeches can end with a line that welcomes the guest of honor.

Depending on the context, a welcome speech doesn’t always need to be impressive. In some situations, a straightforward introduction is all you need. However, in some circumstances like commencement ceremonies, farewell parties, dinners, and some others, the audience is prepared to listen to long speeches. In this case, the speech needs to catch the attention of the attendees and maintain their interest. An impressive welcome speech often has an emotional element. Not just parroting big words to describe a person’s achievements or flatter them. Try to use humor if you’re funny by nature or if you can deliver the punchline well. Use popular quotes in your speech. Tell anecdotes relevant to the attendees. Or reveal an epiphany. These are how you should draft a welcome speech set to impress.

Make sure that it is relevant to the content of your welcome speech or the point you’re making. You can use phrases such as the following: * According to… * As the old saying goes… * There’s a quote that has always stuck with me… * Events like this always remind me of one of my favorite quotes… Try to find quotes that are unique and not cliche. You can find some in the lyrics of contemporary music, or lines and dialogues from books and movies, and so on.

Feature image of Anchoring Script for Teachers' Day

Teachers’ day is celebrated in India on the 5th of September every year. It is celebrated on the auspicious occasion of the birthday of India’s first vice-president and second president, Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. On this day, students all over the country honour their teachers and celebrate them. An event for teachers’ day in a school or college would typically have singing and dancing performances by the students.

It is important for an anchor hosting the event to start the program with a fitting quote, a poem or some famous saying so that he or she can immediately capture the attention of the audience. For an event on the occasion of teachers’ day, quotes on the topic of teachers, student-teacher relationships, learning, and gratitude can be great. Choosing a good quotation and then following it up with a good welcome speech can help an anchor kick start the event.

A welcome speech for an event on teachers’ day can be something like this:

American philosopher Sidney Hook once said: “Everyone who remembers his own education remembers teachers, not methods and techniques. The teacher is the heart of the educational system.”

Hello and a warm good morning/ good afternoon/ good evening to our respected teachers and dear students. Today is 5th September, the birth anniversary of our former president, Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. Dr Radhakrishnan was not just an eminent politician but also a great teacher.

It was his wish that instead of celebrating his birthday, may this day be celebrated as Teachers’ Day to honour our beloved teachers. Without teachers, life would have no class. Without teachers, we wouldn’t be where we are today. So, today, with an extremely grateful heart, I, on behalf of all the students of [school/ college name], would like to thank our teachers for teaching us, helping us learn and grow and always guiding us. Thank you.

“On this beautiful occasion, our students have prepared several amazing performances for our teachers to enjoy. But before that, I would like to invite our respected Principal Sir/Ma’am to please come up on the stage and light the ceremonial lamp. Please give him/her a round of applause. Thank you.”

“There is no darkness so dense, so menacing, or so difficult that it cannot be overcome by light.” – Vern P. Stanfill

“Thank you, Sir/Ma’am. May Maa Saraswati bless us all. Thank you. Please take your seat. Everyone, please give him/her a huge round of applause.”

“Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.” – Robert Frost

“Poetry is one of the greatest forms of expression. Today, one of our very talented students, [student’s name], is going to recite a beautiful self-written poem in honour of our teachers. The poem expresses our gratitude and thankfulness towards our beloved teachers. Let’s welcome him/ her on the stage with a huge round of applause. Thank you.”

After the recital:

“That was so beautiful, [student’s name]. You wrote it so beautifully. Thank you so much. You may now take your seat. Can we have a huge round of applause for him/ her?”

Musical Performance

Victor Hugo once truly said, “Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent”

“Music is indeed capable of expressing our heart and our most sincere emotions. Now, it is time for a melodious performance by our classically trained duo, [name 1] and [name 2]. They are going to play the sitar and sing Raga Bhatiyar. Let’s welcome them with a huge round of applause.”

After the performance:

“Wow! That was surreal! I am spellbound! That was amazing! Thank you [name 1] and [name 2] for such a beautiful performance. You may now take your seats. Everyone, please give these talented students a huge round of applause. Thank you.”

“Where words fail, music speaks.” – Hans Christian Anderson

“Our next performer is not just a soulful singer but he/ she also writes and composes his/ her own songs. And today, he/ she is going to perform a beautiful self-written song. Let’s welcome our next performer, [student’s name], with a huge round of applause. Thank you.”

“[Student’s name], you are indeed extremely talented! I am in awe! That was a beautiful song and what a perfect tune to accompany it. Thank you for such an amazing performance. Everyone, please give him/ her a huge round of applause. Thank you.”

“All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts…” – William Shakespeare

“Now, students from class [x] are going to perform a skit based on the play, [play name] , by Rabindranath Tagore. They have been practising diligently for weeks. I am really excited to see this performance! Let us put our hands together and welcome them on the stage with a huge round of applause. Thank you.”

“Oh, that was a wonderful performance! You all nailed it. Especially the role of [character name] , it was amazing! Thank you for such a brilliant performance. Everyone, please give these talented kids a huge round of applause!”

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche once said, “We should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once.”

“What is a celebration without dance? Now, our students of class [x] are going to present a classical Bharatnatyam dance performance. Bharatnatyam originated in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The dance form was often used to express devotion to the Gods in temples as well as to portray religious stories. It has now evolved into a brilliant dance form full of technique and grace. Our students today are not only going to show you the traditional side of Bharatnatyam but also a more modern, fusion side of it. Let’s put our hands together and welcome them on the stage.”

“Oh my God! Wow! What a beautiful performance! Indeed graceful and brilliant. Let’s give them a huge round of applause! Thank you so much guys, for such an amazing performance. You may now take your seats.”

“It is now time for some Bollywood masala performance! Now, students from classes [x] , [y] and [z] are going to present a modern Bollywood dance mashup. Let’s put our hands together and welcome them on the stage! Thank you.”

“That was amazing! What a great performance! You all did a brilliant job! Thank you so much. Everyone, please give them a huge round of applause!”

The anchor can similarly welcome different performers on the stage and carry on with the event.

After the last performance:

“What a graceful performance by our juniors. They did so well. Please give them a huge round of applause.”

“Those were all the performances we had prepared for you, our beloved teachers. We hope that you enjoyed watching them. I would now like to request our respected principal sir/ ma’am to please come up on the stage and say a few words. Thank you.”

After the speech:

“Thank you, Sir/ Ma’am. Your words always inspire and encourage us. Thank you. Everyone, please give him/ her a huge round of applause. Thank you.”

“The most beautiful moments always seem to accelerate and slip beyond one’s grasp just when you want to hold onto them for as long as possible.” – E.A. Bucchianeri

“With that, we have now come to the conclusion of the event. But even after this event ends, what will always remain is our love, our gratitude and our sincerity towards our beloved teachers. It is because of your dedication and commitment to our growth that we have become so capable and responsible today. A heartfelt thank you to all our teachers. Thank you. Also, a huge thank you to our organisers, staff members and students without whose help this event wouldn’t have been possible. Thank you.

Thank you, everyone. Have a great day/night.”

Oklahoma Aerospace Teachers Rocket to #1 In the Nation for Third Year

welcome speech on teachers day celebration

By Katelyn Wade

The Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA) and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) celebrated a significant milestone in aerospace and aviation education this week with the announcement that Oklahoma has maintained its top spot in the Country with an impressive 116 schools scheduled to begin teaching the AOPA “You Can Fly” high school curriculum for the 2024-2025 school year.    Superintendents and teachers from across the state started the third annual Oklahoma Aerospace Education Training Summit by attending the “Planes on the Plains” banquet event inside Schwab Hall at Tulsa International Airport, where they were joined by industry executives, military aviation leaders, and state legislators in celebrating Oklahoma’s commitment to aerospace education. Lieutenant Governor, Matt Pinnell, began the evening by announcing that Oklahoma is #1 in the nation for the third consecutive year in the number of schools committed to offering these aerospace programs. "Oklahoma's commitment to aerospace education is unmatched. Being #1 in the nation for three consecutive years is a remarkable achievement and a reflection of our state's dedication to fostering the next generation of aerospace professionals," stated Pinnell.

The evening featured networking opportunities, inspirational speeches, and a keynote message from Todd Willinger, CEO of Redbird Simulations, which many of the classrooms are using to introduce students to the fundamental principles of aviation and aerodynamics. Other speakers included Grayson Ardies, Executive Director, Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics, Alexis Higgins, CEO, Tulsa International Airport, Mandy Monahan, Tulsa Aerospace Council, Dan Justman, Vice-President, AOPA "You Can Fly" Programming, and Tanner Gilliam, AOPA Pathway and Southeastern University Aerospace Sciences Institute Graduate.

“Aviation workforce development is needed to sustain all facets of our industry and especially important to Tulsa given the significant aviation and aerospace employment base located in northeast Oklahoma,” said Alexis Higgins, CEO of Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust.  “As a hub of commercial aviation activity, it was our pleasure to welcome educators to Tulsa International Airport in recognition of their work to inspire students to pursue aviation career pathways.” During the Summit from June 3-6 over 90 Oklahoma teachers from both public and private schools gathered at Oklahoma State University’s Helmerich Research Center in Tulsa to train for the implementation of an aviation curriculum designed by the AOPA Foundation. The four-day event allowed teachers the opportunity to participate in hands-on lab activities and to collaborate with teachers from communities across the state to focus on best aviation and aerospace STEM practices. The pathway which was introduced in Oklahoma for the first time at Ada High School eight years ago has now rocketed to an impressive 116 high schools that are focusing on sharpening applicable methods required to teach the four-year pathway of coursework, readying students for careers in Oklahoma’s growing aerospace industry. While at the training, teachers designed and lofted hot air balloons, built reciprocating engines and learned the techniques of unmanned aircraft systems. In addition to classroom sessions teachers toured Spirit AeroSystems while district school superintendents toured the American Airlines maintenance base. Grayson Ardies, Executive Director of ODAA, shared the importance of these programs: “Our aerospace education initiatives are essential in addressing workforce challenges and ensuring that Oklahoma remains a leader in the aerospace industry. The dedication of our educators and the enthusiasm of students is the key to our success.” Ardies emphasized, “This curriculum offers students an introductory look to the industry and prepares them with STEM concepts that are fundamental to their future careers. We are seeing students who have an interest in aerodynamics, now choosing aerospace engineering when they go off to college. We have students who are mechanically inclined now pursuing their aircraft technician certifications, and students were not seeking private pilot certifications and are now exploring support roles in the industry. We are learning from our teachers and students that Aerospace is open for everyone.” AOPA’s You Can Fly initiative is all about building the aviation and aerospace community, getting more people into the skies, using the passion for flight to showcase the wide range of aerospace career opportunities, and keeping that passion ignited. The centerpiece of You Can Fly is the unique and free high school STEM curriculum, ensuring that all of aviation and aerospace has a bright future. For the 2024-2025 school year, 116 schools across Oklahoma are scheduled to teach the AOPA "You Can Fly" program, up from 87 schools the previous year.

“Oklahoma’s aerospace and defense industries employ approximately 120,000 professionals, including engineers, technicians, mechanics, pilots, and air traffic controllers. The state’s education programs, particularly the AOPA "You Can Fly" program, play a crucial role in preparing the next generation of aerospace professionals,” said Paula Kedy, M.A. Ed., Statewide Aerospace STEM Education Manager for ODAA. “The Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics is committed to providing the resources necessary for Oklahoma schools to be successful in these programs.” In the past school year, more than 22,700 students in 471 Districts in 47 states across the country, in all four grades, took the curriculum and learned about exciting opportunities in aviation and aerospace.
