Shri Govind Guru University was established by the Government of Gujarat vide Gujarat Act No. 24/2015. The Head Quarter of the University is Godhra Panchmahals. The Jurisdiction of the University spread over Five District of Gujarat State i.e. Panchmahals, Dahod, Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur and Vadodara (Rural). All the colleges/institutions situated in the above districts are affiliated with this University. At present 172 colleges are affiliated with Shri Govind Guru University.

PhD Admission 2024 Subject (Tentative)

SGGU PhD Admission 2024 Eligibility Criteria

  • A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
  • A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
  • Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
  • Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

  • Candidates have to apply online on the link available at university website.
  • Read instruction given there carefully before filling application form.
  • Application Fee- Rs. 1500/-

Selection Process

Entrance based.

  • University may admit students through an Entrance Test conducted at the University level. The Entrance Test syllabus shall consist of 50% of research methodology, and 50% shall be subject-specific.
  • Structure of the Test – All the candidates who are not exempted from the Entrance Test are required to appear in person for the Entrance Test. It is mandatory for exempted students to fill the Ph.D. form. The total mark of the entrance test is 70.
  • Paper 1: Research Methodology: This paper will have 35 questions with multiple choices. No Negative Marking.
  • Paper II: Subject Specific Paper This paper will have 35 questions with multiple choices. No Negative Marking. The syllabus of this paper is as per UGC NET/CSIR Paper-II syllabus. In the subject Where UGC NET/CSIR syllabus is not available concerned Department/Chairman of Board of study will prepare the syllabus.
  • Students who have secured 50% marks in the entrance test are eligible to be called for the interview (DRC).
  • A relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed in the entrance examination for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/differently-abled category, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
  • Based on the number of Ph.D. seats available, six candidates will be called in each category against one vacant seat for an interview (DRC).
  • Provided that for the selection of candidates based on the entrance test conducted by the University, a weightage of 70% for the entrance test and 30% for the performance in the interview/viva- voce (DRC) shall be given.

Entrance Exempted

University may admit students who qualify for fellowship/scholarship in UGC- NET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests as follows: Selection of these candidates will be based on academic performance and interview/viva- voce performance, the weightage of academic performance and interview/viva- voce performance will be 70: 30.

Research Week 2024 Schedule_Science-Mathematics Instructions: 1. Research Week 2024 will be held in the form of a presentation wherein each Ph.D. scholar will present their research work in front of the appointed experts. 2. The scholar has to prepare Power Point Presentation to present their research work before an expert committee. Supervisor has to verify the presentation of their respective scholar before the presentation round. 3. Research Week will be conducted through Webex platform. An email link will be sent to the individual scholar at their respective registered Email id for appearing in the Research Week as per the schedule uploaded on the university website. Scholar should not use mobile devices for the Presentation purpose. 4. The maximum time allotted to each scholar will be of 01 (one) hour (30 minutes for presentation, 20 minutes for Question-Answer, 10 minutes for filling review card & honorarium form). So please prepare your presentation accordingly. 5. Presence of Supervisor and both the DPC members is mandatory throughout the research week session for their respective scholar/s. 6. It will be the responsibility of the Supervisor to inform the DPC members regarding the Research Week schedule for their respective scholar/s. 7. Upload of Review card on TMMS portal: a. After completion of Research Week session, the scholar has to upload the filled review card on TMMS portal in both Review card and Photos tab within 10 days. b. No need to take Photographs for this particular Research Week. 8. Kindly refer to the Circular – Research Week 2024 uploaded on University website dated 16-03-2024.
