Who Is Justin Bieber?

Bieber went on to become the first solo artist to have four singles enter the Top 40 before the release of a debut album. His 2009 album, My World , went platinum in several countries. He later experienced significant media exposure from offensive activity. Nonetheless, the singer made his comeback in 2015 with his first number one song, "What Do You Mean?" His 2017 collaboration with Luis Fonsi , “Despacito,” broke the all-time record for most consecutive weeks at the number one spot on the Top 100. Bieber broke another record in early 2020 when the success of Changes made him the youngest artist to have seven albums reach the top spot on the Billboard Hot 200.

According to Wealthy Gorilla , Justin Bieber’s net worth is $285 million as of 2019, thanks to his music sales, merchandise, product endorsements, touring and other business ventures.

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin

After Bieber and model Hailey Baldwin were frequently spotted together during the summer of 2018, TMZ reported that the two had gotten engaged during a dinner in the Bahamas on July 7. The lovebirds had previously dated before splitting in 2016, even enduring a "long period of time when we weren't friends," according to Bieber, before rekindling their friendship and then their romance.

Bieber and Baldwin reportedly obtained a marriage license at a New York City courthouse on September 13, 2018, just two months after getting engaged. According to TMZ, Bieber was overheard saying, “I can’t wait to marry you, baby." Later that year he confirmed he was a married man.

On September 30, 2019, the couple held a second, larger marriage ceremony at the Montage Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, South Carolina.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez

Teen idol Justin Bieber broke the hearts of many of his young female fans in 2010 when he started dating television actress and singer Selena Gomez . It wasn't easy for Gomez to be Bieber's girlfriend, as she was accosted by some of his devoted followers. There were even death threats posted against her on Twitter after the pair was photographed kissing while on a 2011 vacation. The couple ended their relationship in November 2012, though they remained in touch on and off. In November 2017, Bieber and Gomez were spotted together publicly several times, stoking rumors that they had gotten back together.

Gomez's chart-topping ballad "Lose You to Love Me," released in fall 2019, was speculated to be about her relationship with Bieber.

Justin Bieber’s Albums and Songs

Bieber’s debut album, My World , hit stores in November 2009, selling more than 137,000 copies within a week. In 2010, Bieber released My World 2.0 , which offered his growing fan base 10 new songs. Never Say Never was released in 2011, with a holiday album, Under the Mistletoe , coming out the same year. In 2012, the album Believe sold 374,000 copies in its first week, before the disappointment of the following year's Journals , a downbeat album without a hit single.

Bieber made a big comeback in 2015 with Purpose , which became his fifth million-selling record in the U.S. by the end of the year . Following the release of Changes in February 2020, the 25-year-old became the youngest artist to have seven albums reach the top spot on the Billboard Hot 200, breaking the record once held by a 26-year-old Elvis Presley .

Some of Bieber’s hit songs include:

Bieber's first single, "One Time," went certified platinum in his native Canada shortly after its release in May 2009.

Bieber broke into the Billboard Top 10 in early 2010 with "Baby," which also featured rapper Ludacris .

“All I Want for Christmas Is”

In 2011, Bieber released an album featuring his own take on such holiday classics as "All I Want For Christmas Is," his duet with Mariah Carey .

“Boyfriend”

Bieber had another hit single in April 2012 with "Boyfriend," which appeared on his 2012 album Believe .

"Beauty and a Beat"

In October 2012, amid controversy over his offensive behavior, Bieber released another Top 10 hit with this party anthem featuring Nicki Minaj .

“Where Are Ü Now”

Bieber nailed a summer Top 10 hit with the Diplo and Skrillex collaboration "Where Are Ü Now" in 2015, helmed by R&B songwriter Poo Bear. In 2016, Bieber landed his first Grammy, winning for "Where Are Ü Now" in the category of Best Dance Recording.

“What Do You Mean?”

In October 2015, Bieber landed his first No. 1 single with "What Do You Mean?," also produced with Poo Bear.

“Despacito”

In January 2017, Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Luis Fonsi released the hit “Despacito” on YouTube; the video soon became the most-watched video of all time on YouTube. A few months later, after hearing the song in a nightclub in Colombia, Justin Bieber asked Fonsi to collaborate on a remix. Their song went on to hit the number one spot on the Hot 100; after 16 consecutive weeks in the top spot, it broke the all-time record as the longest-standing chart-topping song in August 2017.

"I Don't Care"

Thanks in part to a surreal video, Bieber enjoyed more success with this spring 2019 collaboration with Ed Sheeran , a breezy track which went to No. 1 in several countries and topped out at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

When and Where Was He Born?

Justin Bieber was born on March 1, 1994, in the small town of Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

Justin Bieber has said he’s 5-foot-9-inches tall. However based on photographs of the star next to other celebrities, there has been speculation that he measures in at 5-foot-7-inches.

Justin Bieber’s Dad and Mom

Justin Bieber was raised by a single mom. His dad, Jeremy Bieber, left to start a family with another woman. According to some media reports, Justin and his father weren’t close growing up; his dad has been at times described as being a “deadbeat” who only resurfaced after Justin achieved YouTube fame. Jeremy reportedly considered becoming a rapper himself and has struggled with addiction problems. It was also reported that Justin had been partying with his dad just before his January 2014 arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Despite their allegedly complicated relationship, Justin has maintained that he and his dad are close. In 2010, 16-year-old Justin told Seventeen magazine: “I have a great relationship with my dad. When I was younger, he taught me how to play some songs on the guitar, like ‘Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door’ by Bob Dylan .” Justin’s first tattoo, a seagull that he got in 2010, matches one his father has.

In February 2016, Justin told GQ magazine, “I’m a lot closer to my dad than I am to my mum.” Two months later, Justin attended a party to celebrate his dad’s engagement to girlfriend Chelsey Rebelow. When Jeremy became a father again in August 2018, Justin welcomed little sister Bay to the family.

YouTube & Rise to Fame

Bieber always had an interest in music. His mother gave him a drum kit for his second birthday and, as he tells it, he was "basically banging on everything I could get my hands on." But it was an obscure talent contest in his hometown, in which the 12-year-old Bieber finished second that put him on the road to superstardom. As a way to share his singing with family, Justin and his mom began posting clips of Bieber performing covers of Stevie Wonder , Michael Jackson and Ne-Yo on YouTube.

Within months, Justin was an Internet sensation, with a large following of fans and an eager manager arranging for the teenager to fly to Atlanta to consider a record deal. There, Bieber had a chance meeting with Usher, who eventually signed the young singer to a contract.

Calvin Klein Ad

In the spring of 2015, Justin Bieber was featured in a prominent Calvin Klein ad with Dutch model Lara Stone. The shots, which show a grown-up Bieber stripped down to his underwear, were a fan favorite.

A year later, Bieber was featured in another Calvin Klein ad campaign, this time with model and reality star Kendall Jenner .

'Never Say Never' Movie

In 2011, Bieber took to the big screen in the concert documentary Never Say Never . His fans crowded movie theaters to catch him in action on stage and get a glimpse of his life behind the scenes. The movie, which eventually earned more than $73 million at the box office, also had guest appearances by Kanye West , Miley Cyrus and Bieber's musical mentor Usher.

Courting Controversy

While still only in his teens, Bieber survived his first public scandal. A woman filed suit against Bieber in 2011, claiming that he was the father of her child. But a DNA test proved that the young pop star was not the father and the woman dropped her lawsuit. Bieber sang about the scandal in the song "Maria."

That was only the beginning of a string of scandals, bad behavior and unfavorable press for the young pop artist. In March 2013, Bieber's neighbor accused the singer of spitting on him, in addition to making threatening comments. Two months later, denizens of Bieber's neighborhood in Calabasas, California, complained that he was driving too fast in a residential area.

On April 15, 2013, Bieber visited a museum in Amsterdam that paid tribute to Anne Frank . Upon writing that the young Holocaust victim "would have been a Belieber," he faced more backlash from the public. On July 9, 2013, his image was scrutinized once again after he was recorded urinating in a janitor's bucket and yelling "F--- Bill Clinton ," holding a photo of the former president. Although he later apologized, his previously squeaky clean image began to tarnish even more.

On January 14, 2014, Bieber's home in California was searched after he was accused of egging a neighbor's house. Nine days later, Bieber was arrested for suspicion of drag racing and driving under the influence. After a Breathalyzer test showed that Bieber wasn't sober, he was taken into custody where he stayed until he posted bail, which was set at $2,500. The charges were eventually reduced to resisting arrest.

Health Battles

As he matured into his 20s, Bieber seemed intent on cleaning up his act and largely managed to avoid embarrassing incidents. However, the pop star still drew attention for his personal issues, particularly when it was reported in February 2019 that he was being treated for depression.

Bieber confirmed his situation in March, posting a photo to Instagram of himself praying with Kanye West, with the caption: "Just wanted to keep you guys updated a little bit hopefully what I’m going through will resonate with you guys. Been struggling a lot. Just feeling super disconnected and weird.. I always bounce back so I’m not worried just wanted to reach out and ask for your guys to pray for me. God is faithful and ur prayers really work thanks .. the most human season I’ve ever been in facing my stuff head on.."

In a January 2020 Instagram post, Bieber revealed that he had recently battled a case of mononucleosis and been diagnosed with Lyme disease.

Docuseries: 'Justin Bieber: Seasons'

In late January 2020, the artist debuted his 10-part YouTube docuseries, Justin Bieber: Seasons . The first episode, titled "Leaving the Spotlight," focused on his retreat from the public eye after cancelling the final weeks of a tour in 2017 and his journey back to recording again, with later episodes delving into his marriage and battles with depression.

The Making Of Justin Bieber's Purpose: Growing Up, Reconnecting And Loving Yourself

59th GRAMMY nominees Justin Bieber, Josh Gudwin, Steve James, Randy Merrill, and others tell the inside story of the Album Of The Year-nominated Purpose

It's tempting to play the numbers game with Justin Bieber 's Purpose . More than two years in the making. His fifth million-plus selling album. Three Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits, and a spot atop the Billboard 200. Certified triple platinum by the RIAA.

But beyond sheer numbers, the album speaks to Bieber's ability to beat the odds in an industry where the half-life of most teen pop stars can be measured in months rather than years.

It's worth remembering, after all, that Bieber was just 15 when he scored his first Top 10 record. Now an industry veteran at the age of 22, Bieber is a top GRAMMY contender with four nominations: Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Purpose , and Song Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for his No. 1 hit "Love Yourself."

Following, key participants give the inside story behind Bieber's Purpose .

Randy Merrill (mastering engineer) : A project doesn't make it to this level without having good songwriting, production, recording, mixing, and mastering.  Purpose feels like a very personal album for Justin. The lyrics seem to come from his heart, expressing honest sentiments. So they don't come across as contrived or manufactured, just real and honest, delivered with his signature voice.

* Skrillex (featured artist/producer) : His album is so honest to who he is right now. He's still a pop star making pop music, but at the same time, all the stuff I worked on with him had a sense of honesty about it. I'm not saying he wasn't honest before, but when you listen to his lyrics, you can tell he is becoming an adult.

ü ri now A photo posted by SKRILLEX (@skrillex) on Jun 25, 2015 at 7:59pm PDT

Josh Gudwin (producer/engineer/mixer) : Initially we were just expanding on the style of music Justin was making at the time, but during the last six months of the process things really evolved and took shape. Every day in the studio we talked about the music and Justin strived to improve constantly. When it was go time, the direction set its own course naturally and we embraced that all the way.

Steve James (co-writer/producer) : As an electronic producer, I was really excited to work on more fleshed out and rhythmic productions. But the more we sat with the song "Purpose" — and once Justin sang it — it was obvious that it would be best communicated stripped down, letting the lyrics and message really speak. Ballads usually work best either as acoustic or massive anthemic productions. And for "Purpose," the former was the obvious choice.

Chris "Tek" O'Ryan (engineer/mixer) : The vocals for this album were really focused on a strong lead and not a lot of background vocals like previous records. This presents the challenge of making sure that lead vocal is "the one." It has to be perfect in every way — feel, emotion, timing, groove, and pitch — as there's not a lot of backgrounds and tricks to hide any flaws. This was especially true for "Love Yourself," and the result speaks for itself.

O'Ryan : I think this is the album where Justin really found his best tonal sweet spot, and I think that came naturally from him writing so much of it. He also was producing his own vocals, so he did what felt natural and I think that really comes across to the audience.

**Justin Bieber (artist) : You never know what people are going to like. I've just got to the point where [I accept] what I feel and [go] with my gut.

Gudwin : A lot of writing took place in the studio. Some days Justin would come in to write by himself, and other times he collaborated with [producer Jason "Poo Bear" Boyd]. When he really liked a fully composed song that came in but felt there were parts lyrically or melodically that could change to suit him better, he would rewrite them on the spot.

Tom Coyne (mastering engineer) : One thing that really helped is the fact that the vocals were so well recorded and produced. This made it easier to pull all the songs together into a consistent sound across the album. For a vocally driven album such as this, it's always important for the vocals to be consistent throughout the album in order to tie the whole thing together.

Gudwin : All the way up to mixing, it wasn't unusual for Justin to recut certain parts. Over the course of the project Justin's voice reached a very stable point tonally, and his delivery was dialed in. He was very conscious of where his voice was sitting within the album and we worked hard to achieve consistency throughout the entire body of work.

James : I'm immensely grateful for this opportunity. In the third week of my first summer in Los Angeles — when I was 17 — we wrote ["Purpose"] together. And as a result of that, I left school and moved across the country and have been working on music every day since. This song opened so many doors for me.

**Bieber : I named the album Purpose . And the reason why I named it Purpose was because for a while there I feel like I lost my purpose and I feel like I found my purpose again. So just … that message to say no matter how far you feel like you are away from yourself or you feel like you don't have your purpose or you don't know what your purpose is, or you feel like you lost your purpose, there's always room to find that purpose again.

GRAMMY Rewind: Watch Taylor Swift Become The First Woman To Win Album Of The Year Twice

Celebrate the release of ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ by revisiting the night Taylor Swift made history as the first woman to win Album Of The Year twice at the 2016 GRAMMYs.

At the 2024 GRAMMYs, Taylor Swift became the artist with the most Album Of The Year awards in GRAMMY history with four total wins. But her first record-breaking AOTY moment traces back eight years ago, when she became the first woman to win the category twice.

In this episode of GRAMMY Rewind, relive the moment she won the historic golden gramophone for her iconic fifth studio album, 1989 , at the 2016 GRAMMYs .

“I want to thank the fans for the last 10 years,” Swift beamed, praising her loyal fanbase, the Swifties. She later acknowledged the Recording Academy for “this unbelievable honor” and the project’s main producer, Max Martin , who “deserved to be up there for 25 years.”

17 Love Songs That Have Won GRAMMYs: "I Will Always Love You," "Drunk In Love" & More

Over the GRAMMYs' 66-year history, artists from Frank Sinatra to Ed Sheeran have taken home golden gramophones for their heartfelt tunes. Take a look at some of the love songs that have won GRAMMYs.

Editor's Note: This is an update to a story from 2017.

Without heart-bursting, world-shifting love songs, music wouldn't be the same. There are countless classic and chart-topping hits dedicated to love, and several of them have won GRAMMYs.

We're not looking at tunes that merely deal with shades of love or dwell in heartbreak. We're talking out-and-out, no-holds-barred musical expressions of affection — the kind of love that leaves you wobbly at the knees.

No matter how you're celebrating Valentine's Day (or not), take a look at 18 odes to that feel-good, mushy-gushy love that have taken home golden gramophones over the years.

Frank Sinatra , "Strangers In The Night"

Record Of The Year / Best Vocal Performance, Male, 1967

Ol' Blue Eyes offers but a glimmer of hope for the single crowd on Valentine's Day, gently ruminating about exchanging glances with a stranger and sharing love before the night is through.

Willie Nelson , "Always On My Mind"

Best Country Vocal Performance, Male, 1983

In this cover, Nelson sings to the woman in his life, lamenting over those small things he should have said and done, but never took the time. Don't find yourself in the same position this Valentine's Day.

Lionel Richie , "Truly"

Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male, 1983

"Truly" embodies true dedication to a loved one, and it's delivered with sincerity from the king of '80s romantic pop — who gave life to the timeless love-song classics "Endless Love," "Still" and "Three Times A Lady."

Roy Orbison , "Oh, Pretty Woman"

Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male, 1991

Orbison captures the essence of encountering a lovely woman for the first time, and offers helpful one-liners such as "No one could look as good as you" and "I couldn't help but see … you look as lovely as can be." Single men, take notes.

Whitney Houston , "I Will Always Love You"

Record Of The Year, Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female, 1994

Houston passionately delivers a message of love, remembrance and forgiveness on her version of this song, which was written by country sweetheart Dolly Parton and first nominated for a GRAMMY in 1982.

Celine Dion , "My Heart Will Go On (Love Theme From Titanic)"

Record Of The Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, 1999

This omnipresent theme song from the 1997 film Titanic was propelled to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 as the story of Jack and Rose (played by Leonardo DiCaprio and GRAMMY winner Kate Winslet) swept the country.

Shania Twain , "You're Still The One"

Best Female Country Vocal Performance, Best Country Song, 1999

Co-written with producer and then-husband Mutt Lange, Twain speaks of beating the odds with love and perseverance in lyrics such as, "I'm so glad we made it/Look how far we've come my baby," offering a fresh coat of optimism for couples of all ages.

Usher & Alicia Keys , "My Boo"

Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals, 2005

"There's always that one person that will always have your heart," sings Usher in this duet with Keys, taking the listener back to that special first love. The chemistry between the longtime friends makes this ode to “My Boo” even more heartfelt, and the love was still palpable even 20 years later when they performed it on the Super Bowl halftime show stage.

Bruno Mars , "Just The Way You Are"

Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, 2011

Dating advice from Bruno Mars: If you think someone is beautiful, you should tell them every day. Whether or not it got Mars a date for Valentine's Day, it did get him a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

Cee Lo Green & Melanie Fiona , "Fool For You"

Best Traditional R&B Performance, 2012

It's a far cry from his previous GRAMMY-winning song, "F*** You," but "Fool For You" had us yearning for "that deep, that burning/ That amazing unconditional, inseparable love."

Justin Timberlake , "Pusher Love Girl"

Best R&B Song, 2014

Timberlake is so high on the love drug he's "on the ceiling, baby." Timberlake co-wrote the track with James Fauntleroy, Jerome Harmon and Timbaland, and it's featured on his 2013 album The 20/20 Experience , which flew high to No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Beyoncé & Jay-Z , "Drunk In Love"

Best R&B Performance / Best R&B Song, 2015

While "Drunk In Love" wasn't the first love song that won Beyoncé and Jay-Z a GRAMMY — they won two GRAMMYs for "Crazy In Love" in 2004 — it is certainly the sexiest. This quintessential 2010s bop from one of music's most formidable couples captures why their alliance set the world's hearts aflame (and so did their steamy GRAMMYs performance of it).

Ed Sheeran , "Thinking Out Loud"

Song Of The Year / Best Pop Solo Performance, 2016

Along with his abundant talent, Sheeran's boy-next-door charm is what rocketed him to the top of the pop ranks. And with swooning lyrics and a waltzing melody, "Thinking Out Loud" is proof that he's a modern-day monarch of the love song.

Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper , "Shallow"

Best Pop Duo/Group Performance / Best Song Written For Visual Media, 2019

A Star is Born 's cachet has gone up and down with its various remakes, but the 2018 iteration was a smash hit. Not only is that thanks to moving performances from Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, but particularly thanks to their impassioned, belt-along duet "Shallow."

H.E.R. & Daniel Caesar , "Best Part"

Best R&B Performance, 2019

"If life is a movie/ Know you're the best part." Who among us besotted hasn't felt their emotions so widescreen, so thunderous? Clearly, H.E.R. and Daniel Caesar have — and they poured that feeling into the GRAMMY-winning ballad "Best Part."

Kacey Musgraves , "Butterflies"

Best Country Solo Performance, 2019

As Musgraves' Album Of The Year-winning LP Golden Hour shows, the country-pop star can zoom in or out at will, capturing numberless truths about the human experience. With its starry-eyed lyrics and swirling production, "Butterflies" perfectly encapsulates the flutter in your stomach that love can often spark.

Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber , "10,000 Hours"

Best Country Duo/Group Performance, 2021

When country hook-meisters Dan + Shay teamed up with pop phenom Justin Bieber, their love song powers were unstoppable. With more than 1 billion Spotify streams alone, "10,000 Hours" has become far more than an ode to just their respective wives; it's an anthem for any lover.

2024 GRAMMYs: Taylor Swift Makes GRAMMY History With Fourth Album Of The Year Win For 'Midnights'

'Midnights' earned Taylor Swift her fourth Album Of The Year win at the 2024 GRAMMYs — the most of any artist of all time.

Taylor Swift has made GRAMMY history once again.

The pop superstar won the GRAMMY for Album Of The Year for Midnights at the 2024 GRAMMYs, marking her fourth win in the Category — the most Album Of The Year wins of any artist at the GRAMMYs. ( She had been tied with Frank Sinatra , Stevie Wonder , and Paul Simon .)

Swift was shocked as she accepted the award, bringing up her producer Jack Antonoff — who had already won the GRAMMY for Producer of the Year — and collaborator Lana Del Rey, who was also nominated for Album Of The Year for Did You Know There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. S he acknowledged both in her acceptance speech, calling Antonoff " a once in a generation producer " and Del Rey " a legacy artist, a legend in her prime right now. "

She continued, "I would love to tell you that this is the best moment of my life, but I feel this happy when I finish a song, or when I crack to code to a bridge I love, or when I'm shortlisting a music video, or when I'm rehearsing with my dancers or my band, or getting ready to go to Tokyo to play a show. For me the award is the work. All I wanna do is keep being able to do this. I love it so much, it makes me so happy. "

The 66th GRAMMY Awards were already a big night for Swift before her Album Of The Year victory. Midnights won Best Pop Vocal Album earlier in the telecast, marking her 13th win; as Swifties know, 13 is Swift's lucky number because of her Dec. 13 birthday.

And at the 2024 GRAMMYs, it was her lucky number indeed: along with making history, Swift used her first win to announce a brand-new album. Swift will release her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department , on April 19.

Justin Drew Bieber, singer, songwriter, actor (born 1 March 1994 in London , ON ). Teen pop phenomenon Justin Bieber exploded on to the mainstream music scene in the summer of 2009 after first becoming a YouTube sensation. With a string of hit singles from a quick succession of top-selling albums — he is the first artist to have five No. 1 records on the Billboard album chart before his 19th birthday — he quickly became one of the biggest pop stars and celebrities in the world. He consolidated his popularity with music videos , concert films, television appearances and global touring. His fans, called “Beliebers,” have made him a social media superstar. While generally less admired by music critics, he has sold more than 15 million albums, and won many Canadian and international awards, including multiple Juno Awards , a Grammy Award and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.

Early Years

Bieber was born in London , ON to 18-year-old Pattie Mallette and 19-year-old Jeremy Bieber. His parents never married and split up when he was a toddler, though his father has remained actively involved in his life. Bieber grew up in low-income housing in Stratford , ON, with his mother, who worked a series of office jobs. He showed a facility for music as early as age four. As a child he took drum lessons and taught himself how to play piano, guitar and trumpet.

In 2007, after Bieber competed in a local singing contest with a cover of Ne-Yo’s “So Sick,” his mother uploaded a video of his performance to YouTube for friends and family to see. It became a viral hit, so she uploaded several other videos of the baby-faced, mop-topped teen singing R&B and pop songs, including clips of him busking on the steps of the Stratford Festival ’s Avon Theatre. He earned more than $3,000 from busking, which paid for a vacation he and his mother took to Disney World.

While researching another singing prospect, American talent executive Scooter Braun discovered Bieber’s YouTube clips, which had amassed more than one million views. Braun flew the 13-year-old to Atlanta, GA, to record and meet with R&B star Usher, who arranged an audition for him with Antonio “L.A.” Reid of Island Def Jam Music Group. Justin Timberlake also expressed interest in the young singer, but Reid signed Bieber to Island Records in October 2008. Bieber and his mother moved temporarily to Atlanta, where Braun became the teenager’s manager; Bieber also had vocal lessons and private tutoring, as well as “swagger coaching” from stylist Ryan Good.

Recording Sensation

Bieber quickly achieved international commercial success. His first single, "One Time," released in July 2009 while he was still recording his debut album, was a Top 20 hit in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany. It was certified platinum in Canada and the US, and was followed by three more hits: "One Less Lonely Girl" was a Top 10, platinum-certified single in the US; while the promotional singles "Love Me" and "Favorite Girl" were Top 20 hits in Canada and cracked the Top 40 in the US. His seven-song EP My World debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 album chart when it was released in November 2009, and became the first debut record to have seven songs chart on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was certified double-platinum in Canada and the UK, and platinum in the US, Germany and Austria.

On the strength of this success, Bieber made a string of media appearances in the fall of 2009 and performed for President Barack Obama during the annual Christmas in Washington television special. Bieber was also invited to sing on a remake of "We Are The World" and a cover of K'naan 's "Wavin' Flag," both of which were organized to raise money for Haitian relief efforts following the earthquake there in early 2010.

Bieber’s momentum was maintained when a second album, My World 2.0 , quickly followed in March 2010 and debuted at the top of the sales charts in Canada, the US, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. Bieber became the youngest male solo artist to achieve that feat in the US since Stevie Wonder in 1963. The album had a slightly more mature sound and a bigger R&B element than his debut. The lead single, "Baby," featuring rapper Ludacris, became a ubiquitous international hit, reaching No. 3 in Canada, No. 5 in the US and No. 1 in France. “U Smile,” “Never Let You Go,” “Somebody to Love” and “Eenie Meenie” (with Sean Kingston) also charted well internationally; the latter two were certified platinum in the US. My World 2.0 charted in the Top 10 in 20 countries and sold over five million copies worldwide.

In order to exploit the enormous youth appeal of Bieber's blend of bubblegum pop and soulful R&B, and to give the singer an opportunity to prove that his voice could stand on its own without studio augmentation, My Worlds Acoustic was released in November 2010. The album, which included nine acoustic versions of songs from My World and My World 2.0 , and a new track titled "Pray," charted in the Top 10 in Canada and the US, and was certified platinum in Canada.

Never Say Never — The Remixes followed in February 2011. It featured remixes of songs from Bieber’s debut EP, with guest appearances from Miley Cyrus, Chris Brown, Kanye West and others. It reached the top of the album chart in the US, where it was certified platinum, peaked at No. 5 in Canada and also charted well internationally. Bieber's 2011 holiday album, Under the Mistletoe , featured new and old Christmas songs. It debuted at the top of the American album chart, making him the first solo artist to have three No. 1 albums in the US before his 18th birthday. It also topped the Canadian chart, and was certified triple-platinum in Canada and platinum in the US.

Bieber’s voice deepened due to puberty while he recorded his next studio album, Believe (2012), which featured a bigger dance-pop component than his earlier material. Bieber had songwriting credits on 12 of the album’s 13 tracks. A huge international success, Believe was the biggest selling album in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the UK and the US. It featured the international hit single "Boyfriend," which was followed up the charts by “As Long As You Love Me,” “Beauty and a Beat,” “Right Here” and “All Around the World.”

Believe Acoustic , featuring three new songs as well as acoustic and live versions of those found on Believe , was issued early in 2013. It was certified platinum in Canada and topped the sales charts in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Spain and the US, making Bieber the first artist to have five No. 1 records on the Billboard album chart before his 19th birthday.

Online Reach

In 2010, Bieber was named the most searched-for celebrity on the Internet by search engine Ask Jeeves.

In March 2014, he was “liked” by over 63 million people on Facebook and became only the second person (after Katy Perry) to reach 50 million followers on Twitter. Even members of his inner circle, such as his manager Braun, videographer Alfredo Flores and musical director Dan Kanter, have more Twitter followers than many high-profile celebrities.

Bieber has appeared in more than 20 of his own music videos and been featured in videos by Chris Brown, will.i.am and Maejor Ali. He continues to be a YouTube sensation — the number of times his clips and videos have been viewed is now measured in the billions. His video for "Baby" (featuring an appearance by Canadian rapper Drake ) held the record for the most views on YouTube with more than 800 million until it was surpassed by Psy’s “Gangnam Style” in December 2012. “Baby” was also certified as having one billion views on Vevo, a music video website, in February 2014.

Touring and Public Appearances

Bieber launched his My World tour in 2010, playing arenas and amphitheatres across North America from June to December. The following year, he moved on to large venues in Europe, Asia, South America, Israel, Australia and Mexico. In total, 1.4 million fans attended 88 shows that grossed over $88 million.

Bieber embarked on the extensive Believe tour in September 2012 and performed across North America for four months. The tour resumed after a short break and covered Europe, Dubai and South Africa before returning to North America for another leg in the summer of 2013. Six weeks off the road were followed by another long run of shows in Asia, the Caribbean, Central America, South America and Australasia.

Bieber’s public appearances over the years have drawn large crowds and occasionally made headlines for devolving into mob incidents. In November 2009, Braun was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal nuisance and endangering the life of a child after a crowd of fans at a mall in Garden City, Long Island grew frenzied and unruly while awaiting an autograph signing. In April 2010, Bieber’s appearance on a morning television program in Sydney, Australia was cancelled after eight fans sustained minor injuries when they were trampled by a crowd of over 5,000. A similar incident occurred in Oslo, Norway in 2012.

Film, Television and Publishing

Bieber further enhanced his reputation as a teen heartthrob by starring in the 3-D concert film biopic Justin Bieber: Never Say Never , which included performance and backstage footage, and was released over the Valentine's Day weekend in 2011. The film grossed $99 million worldwide. A subsequent concert film biopic titled Justin Bieber’s Believe premiered on Christmas Day in 2013. It failed to match the success of its predecessor, grossing only $6.2 million at the domestic box office after a limited run.

Bieber had a guest role playing a troubled teen on the 11th season premiere of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in September 2010. He was a musical guest on numerous television shows, and also became a commercial pitchman for the anti-acne skin-care product Proactiv. He has appeared at numerous awards shows, either performing or being honoured.

Bieber's appearance on a variety of magazine covers helped sell millions of copies. HarperCollins published his memoirs in a book titled First Step 2 Forever: My Story in October 2010. Several other books have also been written about him. Bieber’s mother, Pattie Mallette, co-wrote a book titled Nowhere But Up: The Story of Justin Bieber’s Mom that was published in September 2012.

Business Ventures

Bieber has a fragrance called Someday, and his wealth has enabled him to invest millions of dollars into several startup technology companies, including Spotify, Tinychat, Stamped, Sojo Studios and Beats Audio.

Organizational Involvement

Bieber is a celebrity spokesperson for the Pencils of Promise charity, which builds schools in developing countries. He also appeared in a public service announcement in support of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, and contributed a public statement to the It Gets Better campaign to help prevent bullying against LGBT youth.

Controversies

While Bieber is a professed Christian who started his career with a clean, boyish image, he has gained notoriety for questionable behaviour and has had several run-ins with the law since becoming an international superstar. He was the subject of a paternity suit in November 2011 and another in May 2013, both filed by women several years older than him. The first was dropped after a DNA test disproved the claim. He was also the focus of an alleged murder plot hatched by two New Mexico men in February 2013.

Bieber has been accused of violence against photographers, who he felt were harassing him, and a former bodyguard sued him in January 2013 after claiming the singer berated and punched him during an argument. A southern California neighbour of Bieber accused him of battery and making threats during an argument two months later, but no arrests were made. That same month, Bieber was forced to leave behind a pet capuchin monkey in quarantine while touring in Germany.

Bieber angered many people in February 2013 when he visited the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, and wrote a note in the guest book saying that, if Anne had survived, he hoped she “would have been a Belieber.” Two weeks later, a stun gun and drugs were found on his tour bus in Stockholm, Sweden. Bieber was accused of spray-painting graffiti in Colombia and Brazil in November 2013, and is also alleged to have visited a brothel while there.

Things got worse for Bieber in January 2014. He was accused of vandalism after allegedly throwing eggs at a neighbour’s home and, when Los Angeles police searched his home, a friend was arrested and then released on bail. That same month, Bieber was arrested in Miami Beach, FL, on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving with an expired license and resisting arrest without violence. He was jailed but released shortly afterward when he posted $2,500 in bail. A post-arrest drug test conducted by police allegedly found that Bieber had THC (a component in marijuana) and the anti-anxiety medication Xanax in his system at the time of his arrest. Bieber surrendered to Toronto police on 29 January after he was charged with assaulting a limousine driver in December. He was released and ordered to appear in court at a later date.

This bad publicity prompted the creation of an online petition calling for Bieber’s deportation from the US. It was presented to President Barack Obama after it passed the 100,000-signature threshold required for a White House response.

Early Years

Personal life, teen pop star, transition to adult artist, top singles.

Justin Bieber (born March 1, 1994) became one of the biggest teen pop artists of all time. He was discovered through performance videos posted on YouTube. Despite difficulties in his personal life, Justin Bieber successfully made the transition from teen artist to successful adult pop artist.

Justin Bieber was born March 1, 1994, and grew up in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. At the age of 12, he entered a local singing competition against others who had significantly more experience and the benefit of vocal coaches. Justin Bieber came in second place singing Ne-Yo's "So Sick." To share his success and talent with family members, he began posting videos of his performances on YouTube. Visitors to the site began subscribing to Justin Bieber's videos, and he ended up with over 10 million views of his performances.

When Justin Bieber was just 13, his future manager Scooter Braun, a former marketing executive for So So Def, discovered him. Just seven months after Bieber began uploading the videos to YouTube, he was flown to Atlanta to meet superstar R&B singer Usher. He also ended up meeting with Justin Timberlake who was another star with an interest in signing Justin Bieber to a contract.

In October 2008 Justin Bieber took the deal offered by Usher and signed to Island Records. He says that it was simply the best deal and Usher was backed up by label exec L.A. Reid . Justin Bieber headed into the studio to begin recording his debut album My World with backup vocals from Usher on at least one track.

Justin Bieber's first high profile romantic relationship occurred between December 2010 and November 2012. He dated singer Selena Gomez . In the wake of the breakup, they both recorded hit songs that referenced parts of the relationship.

In January 2014, Justin Bieber was arrested for the first time on a driving under the influence charge. In July 2014, he was arrested on a misdemeanor vandalism charge for throwing eggs at a neighbor's home. In August 2014, the driving under the influence charge with admission of guilt to a lesser driving without due care and attention charge. Then in September 2014, Justin Bieber was arrested for assault and dangerous driving near his hometown of Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

Justin Bieber's first single "One Time" was released in July 2009 and began climbing the pop singles chart in the U.S. and Canada. He was selected to be a presenter at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Usher appears in the music video for "One Time." The album My World was released November 17, 2009, and debuted at #6 on the album chart. Eventually, My World peaked at #5 the following spring. It produced four top 40 pop singles.

Justin Bieber conceived his second album to be a continuation of his first. The single "Baby" featuring Ludacris was released in advance and debuted at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 2010. hit stores in March 2010 and debuted at #1 on the chart. That made 16-year-old Justin Bieber the youngest solo male to hit #1 on the album chart since 13-year-old Stevie Wonder in 1963.

The recognition of Justin Bieber for the quality of his music began to hit full stride in late 2010. The MTV Video Music Awards named him Best New Artist. In November, Justin Bieber was the big winner at the American Music Awards, taking home four honors including Album of the Year and Artist of the Year. The Grammy Awards named him one of the nominees for Best New Artist in December 2010. The day after Thanksgiving 2010 Justin Bieber released the album My Worlds Acoustic to share stripped down versions of his songs.

In November 2011 Justin Bieber gave a Christmas gift to his fans. He released an album and it quickly became another #1 chart hit. The single "Mistletoe" peaked just outside the top 10. The album included guest appearances from Usher, the Band Perry, and Boyz II Men. Mariah Carey re-recorded her classic hit "All I Want For Christmas Is You" as a duet for the album. Under the Mistletoe was certified platinum for sales. By the end of 2015, it had sold more than 1.5 million copies in the US alone.

Early in 2012, Justin Bieber released the single "Boyfriend" as a lead-in for his third studio album Believe. The R&B oriented single debuted at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album was released in June 2012 and became a #1 smash on charts around the world selling over 370,000 copies in its first week in the US. Two more singles "As Long As You Love Me" and "Beauty and a Beat" reached the pop top 10 in the US. An acoustic remix of the album was released in January 2013.

Justin Bieber turned 19 in March of 2013, and it proved to be both a trying and productive year. He spent much of the year touring in support of the Believe album and generated negative tabloid stories in many different countries. Among the accusations were tactless disrespect for other cultures including an affront to the memory of Anne Frank and desecrating the Argentinian flag onstage. Justin Bieber closed out the year releasing a series of 10 singles he called Music Mondays and debuting his Believe 3D concert film.

With the self-inflicted damage to his personal reputation, many music industry observers began to predict the demise of Justin Bieber as a major pop star. 2014 was his first year since 2008 without releasing either an EP or album. His only single released during 2014 as a lead artist was a collaboration with Cody Simpson titled "Home To Mama." It failed to have a significant chart impact.

However, predictions of long-term failure for Justin Bieber were premature. In February 2015, he appeared as a featured vocalist on the single "Where Are U Now" by Jack U, a project of DJs Skrillex and Diplo. The song became a sleeper smash hit. It peaked at #8 on the US pop chart becoming Justin Bieber's first appearance in the top 10 since 2012. It also earned Justin Bieber his first Grammy Award, winning the Best Dance Recording category.

Justin Bieber had even bigger hits in store later in the year. On August 28th, he released the electronic pop song "What Do You Mean?" It debuted at #1 on the US pop chart making Justin Bieber the youngest male solo artist to achieve the feat. "Sorry," Justin Bieber's second single from his upcoming album Purpose , debuted at #2 and ultimately hit #1. In February 2016, "Love Yourself" replaced "Sorry" at #1 making Justin Bieber only the 12th artist to knock himself out of the #1 slot. In December 2015, Justin Bieber held three of the top five slots on the US pop singles chart. He is the only artist other than 50 Cent and the Beatles to reach that accomplishment.

The album Purpose was released in November 2015. It debuted at #1 on the US album chart selling more than 500,000 copies in its first week. It was the biggest album sales week of his career. By the end of 2015, Purpose ranked as the third biggest selling album of the year with more than 1.25 million copies sold.

Justin Bieber began 2016 as one of the world's biggest pop stars. His hot streak continued in July when his single "Cold Water" with Major Lazer and Mo debuted at #2 on the US pop chart. It went to #1 on both the dance chart and at mainstream pop radio. Justin Bieber began his Purpose world concert tour in March 2016, but the remaining shows of the tour were canceled in July 2017.

In 2017, Justin Bieber helped two singles reach #1 on the US pop chart due to his featured contributions. He appeared along with Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne on DJ Khaled's "I'm the One" which reached #1 on the US pop chart. He also appeared on the remix of "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. The song became the first mostly Spanish language song to hit #1 in the US in over 20 years. It was also the first record on which Justin Bieber sings in Spanish.

  • 2015 - "What Do You Mean?" - The song "What Do You Mean?," the first song released from Justin Bieber's Purpose album, was co-written with Jason "Poo Bear" Boyd and Mason Levy. The synth-based dance-pop sound was seen by many as a sort of sequel to Justin Bieber's featured success earlier in 2015 on "Where Are U Now" by Skrillex and Diplo. "What Do You Mean?" soared to the top of the pop chart in the US. It also reached the top or the dance chart and broke into the top 10 at adult pop radio. Many publications listed it as one of the top 10 songs of 2015.
  • 2015 - "Sorry" - This second single from the album Purpose has a strong Caribbean influence with tropical and dancehall-influenced beats. It was co-written with Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, and Skrillex. Justin Bieber confirmed that the pleas for forgiveness in the song were written in response to his breakup with Selena Gomez. "Sorry" was an instant smash hit. It followed "What Do You Mean?" to #1 on the US pop chart. The song also topped the dance chart and reached the top 10 at both Latin pop and adult pop radio.
  • 2015 - "Love Yourself" - "Love Yourself," co-written by Ed Sheeran, is the third #1 pop smash from the album Purpose. It veers away from dance music toward acoustic pop. Ed Sheeran originally wrote "Love Yourself" for his own album before giving it to Justin Bieber. Ed Sheeran appears performing background vocals on the record. "Love Yourself" hit #1 across mainstream pop, adult pop, and adult contemporary radio. It also climbed all the way to #2 on the dance chart. "Love Yourself" earned two Grammy Award nominations for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Justin Bieber was one of the most successful teen pop artists of all time. When he transitioned to being an adult artist with the release of the Purpose album at age 21, Justin Bieber became an even bigger pop star. The album opened with sales of over 500,000 copies in its first week and a #1 debut on the album chart. It generated three consecutive #1 pop hit singles. Justin Bieber has sold more than one hundred million records worldwide.

Justin Bieber

In an age when it seems anyone can become briefly famous if their video gets shared widely enough, Justin Bieber is the artist who, perhaps more than any other, truly shows us how the power of the internet can transform a life in the 21st Century.

In 2007, the 12-year-old’s rendition of Ne-Yo ’s song ‘So Sick’ was posted by his mother on YouTube and, pleased by the reaction it got, she decided to put more of her son’s performances online. Justin was already starting to build a reputation locally, having won some singing competitions in his hometown of Stratford in Canada.

A former executive for So So Def Recordings stumbled on the clip while searching for something else and was struck by the boy’s obvious vocal ability. He tracked down Patricia Mallette and, after some hesitation, she allowed her son to travel to Atlanta, Georgia, to record some professional demos. That executive, Scooter Braun, got Justin to perform for R&B superstar Usher and the pair swiftly signed the singer and set about finding him a recording home. Justin joined Island Records in 2008 as he and his mother moved from Canada to concentrate on developing his career in music.

His home country took Justin’s first single, ‘One Time’, to its heart and it made No.12 in Canada during July 2009, with later success coming in the US when the song peaked at No.17 in the Billboard charts. An EP, My World , came out in November 2009 and was followed by a succession of small hits and radio-focused promotional tracks. ‘One Less Lonely Girl’ did best of them all as Justin travelled across the world promoting his music with a string of successful TV appearances. One performance for then US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle was filmed for Christmas In Washington , and Justin joined in with the States’ traditional Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve broadcast.

All this publicity perfectly set up the launch of Justin’s first album. My World 2.0 debuted at the top of the US charts and, powered by its first international hit single, ‘Baby’, would go on to sell more than three million copies in the US alone. More TV appearances and a second single, ‘Somebody To Love’, maintained sales across the year and, by the end of 2010, Justin had become a teen phenomenon, with news stories claiming that Justin was already responsible for driving a significant proportion of all the world’s internet traffic.

While working on his second album, Justin made an appearance in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation , featuring a graphic scene in which the character he played got gunned down. Less controversial was Justin’s strongly received performance at 2010’s MTV Awards and the release of an acoustic set called My Worlds Acoustic . A single, ‘Pray’, was lifted from the collection and made US No.61 in a year that also saw Justin enjoy a sizeable smash duet with Sean Kingston on ‘Eenie Meenie’.

Starting 2011, Justin’s 3D concert film and documentary, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never , did astonishingly good business at the worldwide box office and led to a remix album called Never Say Never: The Remixes . In June 2011, Justin was almost at the top of Forbes’ annual poll of Best-Paid Celebrities, and he rewarded his legions of fans with a special seasonal gift when he released Under The Mistletoe , his first festive album, that November.

Believe became Justin’s next studio project, with lead single ‘Boyfriend’ selling well, but frustratingly failing to deliver his first chart-topping track when it entered the listings at its peak of No.2 in March 2012. The album did, however, top the US and UK charts when it was released in June of the same year, just ahead of the worldwide tour, which travelled around the globe in the months that followed.

Another acoustic package came out early in 2013 and again topped the US charts, but there was concern that spring when Justin was hospitalised following a performance in London. He managed to complete the tour and retreated to the studio to finish songs to support the release of his second movie, Justin Bieber’s Believe , which hit theatres that December. Those tracks were released on consecutive Mondays and all briefly made the charts, but only one, ‘All That Matters’, broke out beyond his core fan base. Later packaged together digitally as Journals , the set didn’t make a physical release at the time but was subsequently put out on vinyl.

After those hectic few years, it’s no wonder that 2014 saw little new material, save a duet with Australian singer Cody Simpson in November 2014. When Justin re-emerged properly in 2015, the first signal that he was taking a distinctly different direction came with the collaboration with Jack Ü, an electronic outfit formed by Skrillex and Diplo. ‘Where Are Ü Now’ was an EDM epic that gave Bieber a worldwide hit, earned a Grammy for Best Dance Recording, and made the Top 10 in the US and UK markets.

Bieber’s first single from Purpose was ‘What Do You Mean?’ and it finally yielded the Billboard chart-topper that had eluded him to date. It made a similar impact in almost every market and was comfortably the singer’s most successful single to date. The follow-up, ‘Sorry’, did almost as well, failing to debut at the top stateside but finally getting there after an agonising eight weeks bobbing about near the top of the listings. In the UK it reached No.1 much faster and helped Purpose become the fourth best selling album worldwide in that year. The ballad ‘Love Yourself’, a change of pace from the dance direction of the previous cuts also peaked at No.1 both sides of the Atlantic.

With the Purpose Tour, which started in March 2016, currently not scheduled to end before September 2017, Justin is still finding time to record new music with a new collaboration, ‘Cold Water’, getting a release in 2016. This time, Major Lazer and MO helped Justin secure a No.2 US hit, while the song topped the charts in the UK. ‘Let Me Love You’, a project with DJ Snake featuring Justin on vocals, was another Top 10 hit and has already been awarded platinum status in the UK.

For a young man growing up in public, Justin has matched his phenomenal work ethic with a demonstrably smart head for business, endorsing many famous brands and becoming one of the faces of Calvin Klein from 2015. For all the charitable work he supports, the tabloids are still keen to seize on every incident that portrays him badly. Though, as with many young men his age, there have been serious run-ins with the authorities, Justin is always quick to apologise for these and remains keen for everyone to focus on what he does best. Still, in his early 20s, that musical confidence is building and his back catalogue already contains a handful of songs that have become part of the soundtrack to a generation growing up with him.

With Purpose certainly establishing a template that should see the appreciation of the star develop as the year’s progress, it’s easy to draw parallels with other singers dismissed in their formative years because they targeted a pre-teen audience. Just read the textbook histories of Justin Timberlake and the late George Michael to see how misjudged such a dismissal can be. Evidence suggests that time Justin has spent studying those subjects will be time used very wisely indeed…

Hailey, who is currently pregnant with the longtime pair's  first child , bared her belly in a white crop top under an oversized blazer and dress pants with black loafers.

The 30-year-old musician kept it casual in neon green athletic shorts, a R.E.M. band tee and a cream beanie.

Justin and Hailey announced their pregnancy news last week in a video from their vow renewal ceremony in Hawaii. In the sweet post, Hailey's bump is accentuated in a form-fitting lace gown.

Though they did not share her due date, ET has learned that Hailey is currently six months along.

"Hailey and Justin are looking forward to finally having a family of their own," a source now tells ET. "They're excited to grow closer, learn together, and share this beautiful experience with each other. They're soaking up this time and appreciating this moment with close friends and family on both sides."

The source adds, "This experience is very sacred to Hailey and Justin, and they wanted to share the joy privately as a couple and within their intimate circle first before telling the world and making the news public."

Among those celebrating the big reveal was Justin's mom, Pattie Mallette .

"So, I have been waiting for this day, and now that they have shared it, I can finally celebrate with y'all and say: Oh my gosh! I'm gonna be a grandma! Oh my goodness!" Pattie excitedly gushed in a video posted to Instagram.

"Justin and Hailey, you are going to be the best parents ever," Pattie continued, before declaring, "I am so excited!"

The pregnancy comes at a tender time for the parents-to-be.

"They believe that parenthood will elevate their relationship to an untouchable level and deepen their bond even more," says ET's source. "They’re looking at Hailey’s pregnancy, as well as their vow renewal, as a fresh start and way to move forward. They can’t wait to take this new and exciting next step together."

The source also notes that Hailey and Justin are looking forward to stepping into their new roles together.

"Justin thinks Hailey will be a dedicated, loving, caring, and accepting mom, and Hailey thinks Justin will be a committed, protective, engaging, fun, and giving dad" the source shares. "They both think they will make a great team and be balanced parents together."

The source adds, "Hailey has been doing great throughout her pregnancy and she is glowing more and more every day. She feels so blessed that this prayer has been answered for them. Justin has been very attentive and Hailey and their baby are his number one priority. They are both committed to their relationship and are very involved and present with one another."

As for how the Biebers are preparing to welcome their little one, the source says, "Hailey and Justin are reading baby books, seeking counsel, talking to friends that are also parents, leaning on their own parents and family, and taking in healthy, informative, and educated advice across the board."

Justin and Hailey  tied the knot  back in September 2018.

They  have been open  about wanting kids over the last few years. In 2019, a source  told ET  that Justin "always wanted to be a young father."

"[Justin's] parents were young when they had him," ET's source said of Pattie Mallette and Jeremy Bieber, both of whom were 18 when Justin was born. "He's always loved the relationship they have and how it’s more of a friendship."

Then, in February 2022, a source  told ET  that the couple wants "to have a big family someday."

"They both know what great parents they are going to be together," the source said at the time. "They both feel like part of their reason for being on earth was to be parents. It has been instilled in them since day one and they are looking forward to making that happen."

Justin Bieber shows off wife Hailey’s baby bump during second honeymoon

  • Entertainment

The Biebers are on a trip to Japan where they’re vacationing for their apparent second honeymoon, or babymoon. Photos: Justin Bieber/Instagram

The Biebers’ bump in the road is a wish come true for the stars, as Justin shows off wife Hailey’s baby bump around the globe.

The Love Yourself singer, 30, shared multiple Instagram carousels of the couple’s trip to Japan, where they’re vacationing for their apparent second honeymoon, or babymoon, showcasing the 27-year-old model’s pregnant belly. The couple also recently renewed their vows.

“They wish baby, they wish,” the pop star captioned the shots.

The first two shots show the Rhode founder cradling her bump in a sheer bodysuit and open leather blazer. Another highlight of the carousel shows the couple standing in front of a statue by Japanese artist Takashi Murakami as Hailey stands in a crop top and open hoodie, belly on display, with Justin crouching beside her.

A few hours prior, the singer shared several photos of himself and Hailey, as she sported a black blazer open at the bottom. The first photo showed the pair sharing a kiss, while the next two showed the stars striking more serious poses beside each other.

The peek at the couple’s pregnancy journey came two weeks after they announced the happy news on Instagram, showing tender footage and photos from their Hawaiian vow renewal.

The Biebers wed at a New York City courthouse in September 2018 and again a year later in South Carolina.

Sources told multiple outlets earlier this month that Hailey was a little more than six months along, while an insider let People know the parents-to-be already “have a name that they think is perfect.”

“They will be great parents, and Justin will be super involved. This will be the next important project for him,” said the source. “He’s so excited to raise his baby. ... They can’t wait to meet the baby.” – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service

According to the source, the day Justin and Hailey themselves found out about the pregnancy was "just the best day for them." They added: “Everyone is excited for them. The source added that both Justin and Hailey have been "very emotional" about the journey but that ultimately “they feel so blessed.” They added: "They’ve also felt very protective of the baby from the moment they found out. They shared with family and close friends early on. It was very important for them to keep it quiet and just enjoy [it] for as long as possible before they publicly confirmed."

Justin and Hailey Bieber announced they were expecting their first child together on May 9, 2024, after renewing their wedding vow in Hawaii. (The Biebers tied the knot back in 2018.)

While we don't know how far along Hailey is in her pregnancy, many are speculating that she could be in towards the end of the second trimester already, meaning baby Bieber could be born way earlier than we anticipate, and it looks like both Hailey and Justin Bieber are more than ready.
