Essay on Examination Outline:

1. Introduction. Examinations are an integral part of our system of education but they are extremely faulty. 2. They fail to give an accurate assessment of a student. They do not test a student’s intelligence or ability. They test only his cramming power. Judging by the examination results, many of the great scientists were quite dull. 3. The element of chance in the examinations. The making of scripts is never uniform. Some examiners may be strict, others very lenient. 4. Examinations make the work round the year uneven. Students just study near the examinations and idle away their time during the rest of the year. This makes their work round the year very uneven. 5. This system adversely affects class teaching. A good teacher feels hampered by the limits imposed by the examination system. 6. Examinations are a necessary evil. If there were no examinations, students would not study at all. And it must be said to their credit that, in spite of all the drawbacks in them, a good student has not usually failed nor a third-rater topped. 7. The need for reforms. Instead of completely doing away with the system, we should try to introduce certain reforms: (a) Semester systems can make the work round the year more even. (b) Marking scripts should be made more accurate and uniform. (c) Examinations may be accompanied with viva voce, particularly in the case of marginal students. (d) Unfair means should be checked.

Introduction:.

Examinations have come to stay as a part of our education system. They are considered to be a big nuisance and both the teachers and the students detest them. It is really possible to discover a large number of defects in them; still in the absence of any other satisfactory system of evaluation, it is impracticable to abolish them. They are perhaps evil, yet they are indispensable.

Examinations are often condemned on account of the very prominent role of chance involved in them. The marking of the scripts can never be uniform. Even if we grant that all examiners are sincere and earnest – in fact, many of them are whimsical and willful – we can still not affirm that examinations are scientifically impartial to all examinees. The possibility of the personal prejudices of an examiner beclouding his better judgment cannot be excluded. If an average script follows three brilliant scripts, it will be awarded poor marks; if it follows two exceptionally poor ones, it will earn a better reward than it deserves. Mr. Shahid might be too strict. He will bewail the poor standards and make fascinating crisscross patterns on the scripts. Mrs. Nadia might be a bit too lenient. She would like to give every student a pass on humanitarian grounds. How far can the awards are given by these two examiners be accepted as a fair index of the relative ability of their examinees?

Under the prevailing system of examinations, the students enjoy a ten-month holiday and have a two-month working session. They merrily skip around and flirt their time away for the first ten months. Then, as the examinations approach, one can sniff a chill of seriousness in the air. The atmosphere starts getting heavy, the infection is gradually rife and the students start pouring over their books. They skim through their syllabi, just to get the hang of what they are about, manage to stuff their brains with some ill-digested facts temporarily, then forget all about them once the examinations are over. But these two months play havoc with their physique. The whole period is spent in extreme nervous tension. Shave and hair-cut, cosmetics, and coiffures are all forgotten. Chemists are pestered to procure pills causing sleeplessness. The erstwhile lotus-eater suddenly becomes a Ulysses. But to his utter dismay, he often discovers that he is no match for the giant that examination is and collapses with acute nervous exhaustion.

This system exercises an adverse effect on the class teaching in two ways. First, a good teacher always finds himself hampered by the limitations imposed by the examination system. He does not teach, he prepares the students for the examination. Secondly, a number of students, by virtue of having a good memory, get into a class where they do not deserve to be. Their lessons being beyond their comprehension, they feel bored in the class and create mischief. It is these students who pollute the atmosphere in the class and are responsible for the widespread indiscipline found in colleges. But even the devil must be given its due. It must be acknowledged that the examinations do compel students to study a little. Or they would not study even this much. Secondly, despite all the tricks played by chance, it is never noticed that a good student has failed or a third-rater has topped. Thus examinations may not be scientifically accurate or impartial, still, they do substantial justice.

Examiners are appointed en masse and they often do a bad job of the work entrusted to them. But then there is no better substitute for this system. We cannot abolish these examinations. The abundance of production is required to suffice the needs of growing population. Fertilizers, insecticides, pesticides and mechanized farming are quite common and widespread. Sufficiency is the need of the hour, but all these tactics have ruined purity and worth of natural things. Lands are cultivated and they fall to produce the required quantity because of incessant cultivation. The use of these substances for a long time has proved damaging.

Factories which produce hundreds of articles of daily use are letting out poisonous fumes which contaminate earth’s atmosphere and water. This contaminated water is supplied to crops land hence, proves damaging to health. Health is wealth which we are losing.

Excavation for various purposes has taken our minerals from the earth. This earth is losing its strength and it is being polluted by man for construction of houses, markets and offices. We are spoiling nature and pilling pollution in various forms.

The Board of Intermediate Education Andhra Pradesh (BIEAP) has announced re-counting and re-verification results of the Intermediate Public March Examination ( IPE March 2024 ). Candidates who have applied for re-counting of marks and re-verification of the AP Inter 1st and 2nd year exams can check the results through the link given on bieap.apcfss.in. Roll number, acknowledgement/registration number and date of birth are required to check the AP Inter re-counting and re-verification result.

This year, AP Inter 1st, 2nd year results were declared on April 12. In the 1st year exam, 4,61,273 general candidates appeared and 3,10,875 passed. The pass percentage was 67 per cent. In the Vocational stream, 38,483 students appeared, 23,181 passed and the pass percentage was 60 per cent.

In the 2nd year general stream, the pass percentage was 78 per cent as 3,06,528 of the 3,93,757 appeared candidates qualified.

For Vocational, 32,339 students appeared, 23,000 passed and the pass percentage was 71 per cent.

Candidates who remained dissatisfied with the marks awarded had the option to apply for re-counting of marks and re-verification of results.

How to check AP Inter re-counting, re-verification result

Go to bieap.apcfss.in.
Open the ‘I.P.E Recounting(RC) & Reverification(RV) Results’ page.
Login with your roll number, acknowledgement/registration number and date of birth.
Submit it and check the result.

Next, the BIEAP will hold the AP Inter Advanced Supplementary Exam (IPASE ) from May 24 to June 1 at 861 exam centres across the state.

This time, 5,03,459 candidates will appear for the Supplementary examination of whom 3,65,872 are first year and 1,37,587 are second year students.

As many as 1,77,012 boys and 1,69,381 girls have applied for the 1st year and 67,129 girls and 54,416 girls have applied for the 2nd year supply exam.

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) is scheduled to conduct the Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT 2024) tomorrow, May 23, across 36 cities in India. The IPMAT exam 2024 will be held from 2 pm to 4 pm.

Admission Alert: IPM/BBA(Hons.) at TAPMI, Bengaluru. Accepts IPMAT Scores

The IPMAT exam 2024 is a computer-based test consisting of three sections - quantitative ability, verbal ability, and quantitative aptitude. The first two sections consist of 40 multiple-choice questions each, while the last section will have 20 short-form answers. Candidates will be given 2 hours to attempt the exam.

Each question in the IPMAT exam carries 4 marks; totalling 400 marks. As per the marking scheme, one mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

IIM Indore will announce the IPMAT results 2024 and merit list within two weeks after the exam concludes. Based on the Aptitude Test Score (ATS) in the first round, selected candidates will have to participate in the personal interview (PI) round, either offline or online. The second round is expected to be held in the second week of June.

As per the IIM Indore admission policy, the institute will give 65% weightage to ATS score and 35% to the PI score.

The institute also instructed candidates to mandatorily carry the IPMAT admit card 2024 to the exam centre along with a government-issued identity proof for verification purposes. No electronic devices such as mobile phones, smart watch, bluetooth devices, or calculators are allowed inside the examination centre.

The IPMAT entrance examination is conducted for admissions to the five-year integrated programme, dual degree Bachelor of Arts and Master in Business Administration, at IIM Indore. This year, IPMAT scores will also be used for admission to other top management institutions in India, including IIM Ranchi, Alliance University, NICMAR University, the Department of Management Studies at NALSAR University of Law, and the Institute of Management, Nirma University.

Karnataka 2nd PUC Result 2024 Updates: The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board on May 21 announced the results of Pre-University Certificate (PUC 2) exams. The secondary PUC Exam-2 was conducted from April 29 to May 16. The board on April 10 announced the results of the PUC 2 first exams.

The Secondary Exam 2 results are available at the NIC website — karresults.nic.in. Students will be allowed to choose the scores of II PUC Exam 2 as well for the KCET examination. The Karnataka Common Entrance Test 2024 results are also expected to release anytime now.

The Karnataka PUC II pass percentage has been recorded at 35.25 per cent .

In the PUC II results, the overall pass percentage was recorded at 81.15 per cent, with Arts getting a pass percentage of 68.36 per cent, 80.94 per cent for Commerce, and 89.96 per cent for Science.

The RBI Grade B result is declared in three stages just like the selection procedure.

The result for Phase 1 is announced approximately 2 weeks after the Phase 1 exam. Post this, the candidates would need to check their result which will be provided on the official websi te of RBI.

The Phase 2 result is declared approximately 2-3 weeks after the Phase 2 exam is conducted.

The final result, which comprises Phase 2 marks and Phase 3 (Interview) marks, is released 2-3 months after the interview round is scheduled.
