Published Oct 13, 2023

TikTok created another gem for activities to do with friends: PowerPoint nights. A PowerPoint night is a chill, social event with friends , family or even in a social gathering place like game night at a local brewery. To participate, everyone creates a PowerPoint on a topic of their choosing and presents it to the group. At first the idea may sound like a nightmare to anyone with a fear of public speaking, but it is quite the opposite. PowerPoint nights take all the pressure out of giving a presentation and give you, your friends and guests the opportunity to talk about a topic you love or find funny. Check out this list if this idea sounds fun and you want some PowerPoint night ideas.

These PowerPoint night ideas are a fun way for friends, colleagues or group members to share their interests, passions or stories in a structured and visually engaging manner. Get creative by choosing random topic ideas or having each participant assign each other one.

The presentation can even be beneficial and fun at the same time . For example, use this night as practice for a friend or colleague who has to present at a meeting or class. They can make the presentation a bit silly to make it less stressful, and it will even serve as a rehearsal for the real thing. Just have fun and keep everything light hearted with whatever PowerPoint night ideas you and your other participants come up with.

50 Creative Ideas For Your Next PowerPoint Night

drunk presentation night

TikTok is the newest, hippest (just ask any twenty-something year old) social media platform and arguably the biggest thing since Instagram’s launch in 2010. The platform boasts over 1 billion users and has been downloaded an upwards of 200 million times in the United States alone. You can find all sorts of videos on TikTok from food recipes and fashion, to presentation tips. Its diverse, entertaining, short-form content is what makes the app so favorable across many different age groups and demographics.

Many trends and recommendations have come to light because of the ever-popular social media app like dances, sounds, and meals. But another TikTok trend that has taken millennials and Gen Z by storm is PowerPoint nights. PowerPoint nights became especially popular in 2020 during the pandemic when friends and family were looking for ways to connect with one another via technology. Essentially, friends create presentation decks about cheeky topics (unrelated to work or school) and present them to each other either in-person or through video calls. Oftentimes served with plenty of snacks and beverages, PowerPoint nights have become a new Friday night “thing” to do. A trend we can get behind.

And of course, we’re thrilled that it put presentations on the map for something fun other than board meetings and thesis assignments.

So we’re tapping in. Here are 50 creative ideas for your next PowerPoint night. Extra points if you use Beautiful.ai and tag us on TikTok.

PowerPoint Parties Are the Party Trend You Have to Try: Here's How to Host One

PowerPoint nights are the new fun way to party together. Try these clever PowerPoint party hosting tips and ideas for creating winning presentations.

Lauren is a former editor at Real Simple and currently serves as a senior digital editor for Better Homes & Gardens.

drunk presentation night

All get-togethers are great, but PowerPoint parties have been particularly popular for livening up both in-person and virtual parties over the past few years. PowerPoint nights give everyone something to contribute to the party's success (beyond a hostess gift ). And they're great for connecting with far-flung friends or family, as you can easily host it over Zoom or video chat.

And the cool thing: All you need is a computer, a screen, and your friends' creativity to host a PowerPoint night that'll leave everyone laughing (and likely, looking to host their own PowerPoint party in the not-so-distant future).

If you're ready to jump on the PowerPoint party trend, here's everything you need to know to host one of your own, plus a ton of ideas for PowerPoint presentations that will make you the hit of any party you attend.

What is a PowerPoint Party?

A PowerPoint party takes the meeting and school presentation staple—the Microsoft PowerPoint presentation or slideshow—and makes it something fun, playful, and party-appropriate. PowerPoint party attendees craft and give presentations on topics of their choice. Drinking, themed costumes, Q&As, and other fun add-ons may also be included.

A PowerPoint party can also be done with Google Slides, Keynote (the presentation software from Apple available on iOS devices), or any other presentation tool—Microsoft PowerPoint is not required.

First popularized in 2018 , the PowerPoint party is best kept to a small group of people—it's not an activity for a crowded rager—and can be enjoyed virtually or in person.

How to Host a PowerPoint Party

To plan and host your very own PowerPoint party, first gather a select group of people who you think will enjoy the party. PowerPoint parties aren't for everyone, or for every occasion—it's something best left for smaller groups of adults, young adults, and teens. If you want to include younger kids, consider pairing them with an adult or an older child with experience giving presentations who can give them a little help, and if you want to have larger groups, consider dividing them into teams to create presentations.

When you invite people, explain the expectations of the party. What's the time limit or slide limit on each presentation? What's the dress code? Is the PowerPoint party themed?

The Drink, Talk, Learn (DTL) PowerPoint party—in which everyone simply chooses a topic they're passionate about, with no themes or restrictions—is the classic option, but if you want to do a themed PowerPoint party, check out some clever PowerPoint night ideas below. If you're worried about people having the same topic, ask that everyone submit their topics to you ahead of time to avoid any duplicates.

If you're attending a PowerPoint party, your presentation can be whatever you want it to be. (Most PowerPoint parties should be goofy, either in the topic or presentation.)

Use PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Keynote, fill your slideshow with images, charts, graphs, quotes, gifs, videos, and whatever else makes your point, and have fun with it. And don't be afraid to use all those weird effects that the apps offer that you never get to use in everyday work life. (Why not make that slide spin off into the ether?)

If you're hosting the party virtually , send around the link to join the video call early to avoid any technical difficulties. You can allow everyone to share their screen when they're presenting, or you can collect all the presentations and serve as the presenter.

Don't load up your slides with text. Use your slideshow for images, graphs, and keywords or phrases that help make your point. When you're presenting, don't just read what's on the screen; try to use notecards to make your argument. To ensure you rule at the PowerPoint party, take your presentation for a spin or two to fine tune what you want to say.

PowerPoint Night Hosting Ideas

To make your PowerPoint party even more fun or interesting, try adding some of these ideas to your gathering.

Turn the presentations into a drinking game

Have presenters take a sip of their drink every time they say "um" or another filler word, for example, or ask them to finish their drink in its entirety if their presentation extends beyond the allotted time. (Always drink responsibly, of course.) You could even pick an uncommon word or phrase—like pink umbrella, for example—and if anyone works it organically into their presentation, the whole party has to drink.

Create a dress code

Take the party up a notch by enforcing a themed dress code. If everyone is presenting about historical figures, have them dress up like their chosen figure. You could also ask everyone to wear business attire or dress entirely in one color.

Consider assigning topics

While it's fun to let them use their imagination and share a wide array of presentations at your PowerPoint night, assigning a topic theme or a specific topic can give your party more structure, and challenge your guests a little too. They'll have to work up a passion for their given topic, and you can laugh at their efforts to make their presentations entertaining. (Bonus points if you choose extremely obscure topics, like how staples are made or where sand comes from.)

Give out prizes

To get everyone invested in your PowerPoint party, make it competitive. Find a great prize and create a scoring sheet with points for the quality of presentation, the strength of argument, choice of images, outfit choice, adherence to the time limit, and whatever other details you think are important. Have everyone score their fellow presenters (all in jest) after their presentation. The winner at the end gets the prize.

There isn't just a single Oscar awarded, is there? Consider offering prizes in an array of categories at your PowerPoint party— the wildest use of PowerPoint effects, most dedicated presenter, best costume, etc.

25 PowerPoint Party Theme Ideas

Ready to host your very own themed PowerPoint party? Here are a few PowerPoint night ideas beyond the classic Drink, Talk, Learn party to get you started.

Drunk History

Presenters choose a historical figure or event and present about it. Have everyone dress like their figure or era, and encourage people to have a drink or two before their presentation to really make it interesting.

The Best [Whatever] of All Time

Every presenter picks a movie, TV show, video game, board game, fictional character, food, city, etc., and everyone makes the case that their pick is the best one of all time. Keep topic selections within the same genre to spark a little friendly competition.

Conspiracy Theories

Have everyone select a conspiracy theory and present it with the goal of convincing everyone that it could indeed be true.

Assigning Characters

All presenters pick a category—it could be dogs, foods, characters in a movie, TV show, or book, whatever—and explain who everyone would be in each group. (This is best done within a close-knit group of friends.) Presenters could explain which Harry Potter or The Office character everyone might be, or which type of pasta noodle they'd be. The opportunities are endless.

Who Survives?

Rate your friends on their survival skills in a number of dangerous events, such as The Hunger Games, a slasher movie, or a zombie apocalypse. Be sure to share how each pal at the PowerPoint party meets their bitter end, and who will survive the longest (and how).

Over/Underrated

Each guest shares their hot take on something that's overrated or underrated—and shares their reasoning behind it. It can be something from pop culture, foods, a beauty product, a fashion trend, or even a hobby.

Cast the Movie of Your Life

Who'd play your parents, your friends, your mate—and you! (Be sure to assign celebs for each of the attendees that you know, of course.)

Your Biggest Regrets

Reveal it all, from highlights-gone-wrong to spring break shenanigans to major parenting fails.

Rank dog breeds, highlight why lizards reign supreme, or go ahead and list the magical pets you'd love to have (hello, unicorns!).

How to Hacks

Share your skills! Take your friends step by step through concocting your signature cocktail, getting killer deals on travel, or crafting cool nail art.

The Perfect Undercover Names

Give every member of the crew their own secret agent moniker and highlight their spy-worthy skills, whether it's their next-level driving or ability to keep a (top) secret.

When Your Favorite Shows Jumped the Shark

Narrow it down to the key moment that the show in question started its decline in quality—and make your case for it.

Crystal Ball Prognostication

Imagine where you and your friends will be in five, 10, or 20 years from now. (The funnier your predictions, the better!)

Worst Gift Ever

Chronicle the weirdest gifts you (or people you know) received—and why they're bad. Don't forget photos!

Your Dream Wedding

Even if you're already paired off, pop in what you'd want to do to celebrate your wedding now if money was no object.

Bucket Lists

A PowerPoint party is the perfect opportunity to see which ones you share with your friends—and start making plans to cross them off together.

Guilty Pleasures

Share your favorite guilty pleasure(s), and lay out the argument why others should indulge as well.

Me in the Multiverse

Take a cue from Everything Everywhere All at Once and imagine what your alter egos are doing in alternate realities.

Junk Drawer Archaeology

Dive into the depths of your junk drawer and share the weirdest/smartest/oldest finds.

Confessions

Time to come clean on sins from your past or present, and plead your case for why it had to be done.

Friends Trivia

No, we're not talking about what the mail label says on Chandler Bing's TV Guide (though it's Chanandler Bong, if you need it for your next trivia night). Instead, quiz other guests to see how much they remember about each other.

Word to the Wise

Keep your friends from learning the hard way by sharing a life lesson you've learned.

Share your biggest (and ideally, weirdest) fears, and why you're not a fan.

Two Truths and a Lie

Turn the classic party game into a PowerPoint party presentation—and see who knows you best.

Share the tales (and ideally, photos!) of projects you envisioned, and how they went wrong.

In recent times, PowerPoint Nights have gained popularity, serving as an interactive platform for individuals to unleash their creativity and hone their public speaking skills. Beyond merely sharing information, these gatherings provide opportunities for discovering fresh ideas and engaging with others in a captivating manner. • Choose a Theme : Start by selecting a theme to guide the evening’s presentations. Themes can be fun and nostalgic, like “My Favorite Childhood Memory,” or bold and imaginative, like “How I Would Survive a Zombie Apocalypse.” This sparks creativity and prompts participants to deliver presentations that are engaging and original.
  • PechaKucha Format : Embrace the PechaKucha approach, where each presentation consists of 20 slides, each displayed for 20 seconds, culminating in a brisk 6 minutes and 40 seconds of presentation time.

  • Interactive Elements : Introduce fun activities like trivia, charades, or Pictionary that tie into the presentation themes. Incorporating these interactive elements will ensure your audience stays entertained and fully engaged throughout the presentation.
  • Virtual Enhancements : Leverage the power of virtual presentations by using dynamic backgrounds and animations to add an extra layer of excitement and visual interest to your PowerPoint Night.

Hosting a PowerPoint Night? Here Are a Few Ideas to Get You Started

Jacqueline Gualtieri - Author

Dec. 23 2020, Updated 4:18 p.m. ET

At this point, you probably know at least one friend who has partaken in a PowerPoint night, and you may be interested in hosting your own. Either that or you've seen a million PowerPoint nights on TikTok, and they've inspired your own party. Whether you want to host a virtual PowerPoint night, or one with your quarantine pod or roomies, here are a few ideas to get you started.

Pop culture rankings are always a good choice.

@yourpalmalhal Better than a any political debate; baby grinch. ##foryoupage ##happyathome ##fyp ##powerpointnight #corona ♬ original sound - Mal idek

At my last PowerPoint night, one friend ranked all of James Marsden's characters by "marriageability" (although we all know that Criss Chros deserves the No. 1 spot). Pop culture references are a popular choice because, for the most part, your audience, as they are usually your friends, often have similar taste in shows and movies. Although they may not agree with your conclusion (sorry, but Baby Groot is the cutest, @yourpalmalhal), you'll all have a fun time getting there.

Go for nostalgia.

@jesshorner25 i’m drunk ##powerpointnight ##twilight ♬ Best twilight songs - Kylie

Pop culture is fun and all, but if you've ever had a PowerPoint night with friends you've known since way back when, you know it's fun to go back to some nostalgic roots. Did you and your friends use to debate Team Edward vs Team Jacob? Time to bring up some old arguments — with a more, ahem, mature twist.

Give it a theme, especially if you have some hesitant players.

@blehemma who’s ur fave problematic character?! 👀 ##powerpointnight ##anime ##deathnote ##hunterxhunter ##erased ##thepromisedneverland ##jujutsukaisen ##hxh ##fypシ ♬ Monkeys Spinning Monkeys - Kevin MacLeod

If you have a friend group who cries, "I can't think of anything," whenever you propose a PowerPoint night, make it a little easier and give them a more specific topic. Decide on something that you're all at least somewhat passionate about (like your favorite problematic anime characters) and have everyone defend their positions.

Go for personal.

@natvol6 powerpoint night ##powerpointnight ##friends ♬ Monkeys Spinning Monkeys - Kevin MacLeod

Look, if you know for a fact that you and your friend group can handle some personal info, go for it. Rule No. 1 of PowerPoint night is that it's a judgment free zone. Want to rate all the places you've hooked up? Do it! Want to admit all of your hardcore celebrity crushes all in one go? Go for it! Of course, you can also go in the other direction and make it more personal towards your friends, but be a little kinder in that regard. And probably clear it with your friend that you're about to absolutely trash her Instagram.

Go weird and obscure.

@obiwansimpobi dedicating this to my tiktok roots ##mammamia ##mammamia2 ##powerpointnight ##donnasheridan ##abba ##powerpoint ##mammamiamovie ##pastry ##fyp ##mammamiatiktok ♬ Mamma Mia - Austin Weber

OK, we've all seen the PowerPoints ranking Disney dads, right? No offense to anyone making them, but we've seen them a lot already. If you want to do something that you're absolutely sure your friends aren't going to do, don't be afraid to get passionate about the things you're passionate about and go weird! If you love Mamma Mia! and pastries, it makes sense to combine them, doesn't it? At the end of the day, just make a PowerPoint that makes you happy.

Rankings also work when you're applying them to your friends.

@giamaliaa this is college #fyp #powerpointnight #college #HolidayTikTok #RnBVibes ♬ original sound - matt lockshaw

Flat out ranking your friends? Kinda lame. Ranking your friends in terms of who would get divorced first or who is which Tinder stereotype? Now that's better. Again though, be sure that your friend group is on that level.

Give us your bad takes.

@taylor__lilly don't judge me lol I had some honorable mentions at the end of my presentation #powerpointnight #powerpointparty #starwars #starwarscharacters ♬ original sound - matt lockshaw

PowerPoint nights thrive on bad, bad takes that don't get discussed in normal conversations. Like, when was the last time your friend admitted that they're into Jar Jar Binks? PowerPoint night is a place where all the bad takes come out to play. Yes, your friends will argue right back, but that just means you get to do the same for their presentation, because, if done right, everyone should be sharing a lot of questionable things on PowerPoint night.

This viral drinking game challenges people to give a PowerPoint presentation in under 3 minutes — here's how to play

  • A game called "Drink Talk Learn" (DTL) is currently going viral thanks to a Seattle-based software engineer named Michal .
  • DTL was created by four engineering students at the University of Waterloo in 2012:  Megan, Derek, Mike, and Munt.
  • The game requires participants to create a PowerPoint presentation about something they're passionate about.
  • The presentation can't exceed three minutes in length or the presenter has to finish their drink and resume the lecture.
  • See the complete set of rules, as shared by Michal, below.

A game called "Drink Talk Learn," or DTL, is currently going viral thanks to a Seattle-based software engineer named Michal, BuzzFeed News reported.

The rules of the game sound simple enough: Create a PowerPoint presentation about something you're passionate about that does not exceed three minutes in length. The catch is, if you go over this time limit, you have to finish your drink and resume your lecture.

On Sunday, Michal shared a few photos of herself playing the drinking game on Twitter. Her topic of choice? The "true moral compass" of Shadow the Hedgehog, a character from  Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog  video game franchise.

—Michal (@Miexriir) January 14, 2018

Michal — who invoked everything from character alignment charts to John Locke's "tabula rasa," or blank slate, theory in her lecture — won "best presentation."

When INSIDER reached out to Michal for comment, she directed us to her friend  Clarisse , who hosted the party the software engineer had attended. Clarisse told us the first DTL  was created and hosted in November 2012 by four Waterloo engineering students: Megan, Derek, Mike, and Munt.

According to Clarisse, the game has since been played at house parties around the country, hosted by Waterloo students or alumni. " Due to the co-op program at our school (six co-ops in a five-year program), many students bring the tradition with them when they travel for their internships," she explained.

In a follow-up tweet about the game, Michal said she would "highly recommend it." She continued: "I ended up learning a lot about Seattle public transit, the history of Windows startup sounds, and fancy rats."

Luckily, for anyone who's eager to try DTL, Michal also posted a screenshot of the game's rules on Twitter, as seen on the original Facebook page for the party she attended.

According to the complete set of rules, participants will incur further drinking penalties, beyond the initial punishment for going over the three-minute time limit, for each additional minute that their lecture takes. Listeners can only heckle presenters if their comments are witty and brief; any "non-witty banter" will be punished by something called "Death by Screech." And everyone has to wear something business casual.

In addition to "best presentation," participants can also win awards for being the "best dressed" and having the presentation that's "closest to three minutes without going over."

Table of Contents

Do you want to do something entertaining like PowerPoint night ideas? But you don’t have to leave the house or worry about facing large crowds. Now, we revert to every activity we did at the beginning of the lockdown (other than the aimless Zoom happy hours, please!).

We should be grateful to Omicron for being present with us. You’re not alone if you’ve done a virtual game night or movie night in the past couple of weeks.

There are plenty of ways to plan an entertaining PowerPoint night with your friends. They’re easy enough for you to run virtually.

A PowerPoint party is a breakthrough for the participant to create and present their topic choice at its core. You can make topics as funny, fun, or niche as possible using Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slide. Also, you can now convert jpg to ppt PowerPoint file using online JPG to PowerPoint converter if you want to represent your images in slides.

Powerpoint night ideas have been a popular TikTok trend for college friends groups and sororities who want to make additional presentations outside of the ones they have to do in class

Creative ideas for TikTok users include the way they present the material (lots of pictures, hand gestures, outspoken honesty, and even costumes). PowerPoint night videos are all over TikTok now; they will improve your hangout. It would help if you tried it.

If you have a lot of friends, limit the number of slides so it doesn’t feel like a three-hour lecture. And if you have a built-in group of roommates, you can take turns presenting on your TV screen using an HDMI cord or Chromecast. It is a straightforward way to keep yourselves busy for the night (add wine and make it a drinking game if you wish).

Get fancy with your PowerPoint skills—we’ve got you covered with these PowerPoint night ideas

The key is to be creative with the topic you present or a specific topic about the Taylor Swift conspiracy; you and your friends can create a competition, create a score sheet and award the grand prize winner at the end! Ready to play?

American girl doll rice purity scores

Just so you know, this virtuous Doll serves as our childhood material mentor, but in the words of wisdom from Cobra Starship’s hit song, “Good Girls Go Bad.” We also know Kit Kittredge isn’t that innocent; he’s just pretending. You can include ideas, for example, when you open the refrigerator. You will find some food for reference ideas.

The spicy Cheetos are the only thing that will make the night right for some. There was a pizza roll and a bag of Skittles. For example, make a literal video of someone eating a bowl of turkey with a spoon or eating a piece of bread.

Whatever floats your boat, put it in PowerPoint night ideas.

Rating the most attractive fast-food mascots

This topic is entirely out of the box. This Idea is a new contribution to the world of PowerPoint night ideas.

Rating your friends as getaway drivers

We all have friends who are currently driving like runaway drivers without being asked (the sound of a car swerving). Now is the time to allow them to maneuver quickly in traffic without causing accidents. Channel the “Driver” idea in this PowerPoint night!

Which old flame of Jose Rizal would your friends’ date?

Jose Rizal is more than just a revolutionary writer, sports fan, and lover. Rizal likes many of these women for different reasons. According to him, every woman is a unique individual.

Recasting Four Sisters and a Wedding, but it’s you and your friends

This iconic film will have you laughing at one scene and crying the next because there are more characters than just the four sisters—and you might relate to one feeling a little more than the other.

An in-depth analysis of your friend group’s reactions to different types/amounts of alcohol.

You can use PowerPoint night ideas with varying types of alcohol according to How I Met Your Mother episode 22 of Season 6, entitled: The Perfect Cocktail .

Different people react to alcohol (and other types of alcohol) differently. Therefore, take this opportunity to use all the photos and videos of your friends, but in an analytical, scientific, research paper way.

Which atomic model best suits your friend’s personality?

We are all material, so it’s time to get personal on this PowerPoint night’s atomic (and perhaps philosophical) level. Everything that occupies space and has weight is called matter. The matter consists of atoms.

What would your friends do if they were on ASAP?

ASAP has provided entertainment for over 20 years with a variety of shows. What would your friends do if they were on stage?

Apart from roles, it also takes a hard-working and dedicated crew to produce such a show. Maybe you can take PowerPoint night ideas to another level and turn them into a variety show.

The Taylor Swift song era that best describes your friend’s romantic past and present (or lack thereof)

The Powerpoint topics are specifically for everyone out there. They travel down memory lane and rediscover past emotions. Meanwhile, Taylor and his fans are preparing for the release of Red (Taylor’s Version).

Ranking who would most likely help you hide a body (and what their plan would be)

Are you and your friends For-Lifers? (For this purpose, it is a joke only for entertainment among friends)

What art period/movement would your friends in thrive?

Interesting Bob Ross Powerpoint topic is suitable for art. Be it in self-created art or the world scene during the period/movement.

Do you give off “Sinigang” or adobo energy?

The topic of Powerpoint Sinigang or adobo to explain it to some people gives a different vibe.

Who your friends’ perfect ka-love team would be (and if they would end up dating off-screen)

Celebrities are constantly trying to develop the on-screen couple with the best chemistry. Stars or your group of friends can do the match.

History drunk

The presenter selects a historical figure or event as the topic of the evening’s PowerPoint. For example, asking everyone with their personality or period style to drink alcohol before a presentation is fun.

The greatest ever

Each presenter selects a movie television show, game town, or food town in the same genre to encourage a friendly contest.

Theorems about conspiracy theories

Choose alternative conspiracy theories to convince everyone.

Writing characters

Presenters choose groups: dogs, characters from television, movies or books, and food, and explain who will be in each group. For example, the presenter can describe the Harry Potter characters.

Superlative, adult edition

Give each of your friends the best adult version, e.g., the Irish are going out of the party, they might order takeout even after an entire Trader Joe’s ride, etc.

And those are 35 topics for PowerPoint Night Ideas that can be your reference.

'Drunk Powerpoint Presentations' is the new party game you'll absolutely want to play

Very nerdy, but very fun

'Drunk Powerpoint Presentations' is the new party game you'll absolutely want to play

Dunno if you’ve ever been to a party before, but I have, I’ve been to loads , and I bet your jealous. Reason I’m saying this is because as a result of being to loads  of cool parties, I know what goes on at them, namely: drinking, talking, dancing, being an idiot, kissing people you shouldn’t, listening to music and maybe if you’re very lucky, Scotch eggs.

What I, in my experience, have never encountered, is going to a party and being asked to do, or watch, a Powerpoint presentation. Normally just in the kitchen telling bad jokes, actually.

Still, a couple of party-goers over in the US did exactly that (the presentation, not the bad jokes in the kitchen - although they could have participated in them later on in the evening, I just don’t know).

The head of the party, an amateur living room event organiser called Clarrise , told BuzzFeed that the event is called “Drink Talk Learn (DTL)”, and was invented at the University of Waterloo in 2012:

“DTLs have lived on throughout the years. And have even spread outside Waterloo to be hosted in Toronto, Seattle, San Francisco, Edmonton, and New York.”

Here are the rules, in case you wanted to hold your own one:

On this specific night, topics of presentations included ‘Hidden Meanings in Classical Music — Acid Trips, Soviet Defiance, and Jaws’; ‘Transhumanism and the Sublime — A Meditation on Technological Evolutionism’; and ‘Dogs with Jobs — Occupations for the Canine Individual’. All of which I’m sure I would not understand, but which have simultaneously ignited the fires of excitement across the internet:

So yeah, this is a thing now, and I guess you’re doing it. Can’t wait to go to my mate’s birthday this weekend, we have to do an actual presentation! I can’t just turn up! I have to prepare! It’s almost like it’s not fun anymore! Really really can’t wait to do my homework! The deadline is Saturday!

Still, I hope I get invited to one soon - my presentation is gonna be ‘Close Your Laptop and Get Back in the Kitchen I’m Doing a Joke”.

A 13-year-old girl called 911 to report her mom for drunk driving in Lancaster County, authorities said.

The girl told deputies she was extremely scared, investigators said.

When deputies found the car Saturday night, the 13-year-old was outside crying, according to authorities.

Inside, they found 38-year-old Brittany Borrell, as well as an open bottle of brandy, investigators said.

Investigators said the girl told deputies that, at one point, they were traveling 95 mph.

Drunk wrong-way driver crashes on I-91 in Windsor

WINDSOR, CT (WFSB) - State police said a drunk wrong-way driver crashed into a concrete barrier on Interstate 91 north in Windsor on Sunday night.

Troopers charged 58-year-old James Sanders of East Granby with illegal operation of a motor vehicle without minimum insurance, reckless driving, illegal operation under the influence of drugs and alcohol, failure to drive in a proper lane, driving the wrong way, and first-degree reckless endangerment.

James Sanders was arrested for drunk driving the wrong way on I-91 in Windsor the evening of...

State police said Sanders got on I-91 north at exit 40 and veered left across all three lanes of traffic.

“A witness to the accident provided a statement on scene having observed the accused cross all three lanes of traffic into the median, and begin to drive the wrong way,” state police said in a news released.

Around 11:15 p.m., they said Sanders struck a concrete barrier in the center median and continued to drive the wrong way.

His vehicle eventually became too damaged to drive.

Troopers gave him a $25,000 bond as a result of his charges.

Sanders was given a court date of May 30 in Hartford.

Body cam: Police charge dad with OVI after finding him passed out in running SUV with 7-year-old daughter

GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) - A Cincinnati father is under arrest after police say they found him drunk and passed out behind the wheel of a running SUV with his 7-year-old daughter lying in the backseat.

Birjilio Perez, 29, of West Price Hill blew 0.184% on a breath test to measure his blood alcohol level, which is more than two times the legal limit of 0.08% in Ohio, his ticket shows.

It happened on Day Court near Queen City Avenue in Green Township just before 4 a.m. Sunday, according to court records.

Green Township police released body camera footage Monday showing an officer taking him through several sobriety tests.

Police requested a translator because Perez does not speak English.

He faces multiple charges including child endangering and two counts of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs (OVI).

One of the OVI charges is because his breath test resulted in a reading of more than 0.17%, court records show.

His bond was set at $30,000 during a brief hearing Monday.

Perez remains locked up at the Hamilton County Justice Center.

He will return to court on Wednesday for a 9 a.m. pretrial hearing before Judge Tyrone Yates.

The judge also will consider a request from his court-appointed public defender to reduce his bond, court records show.

Suspected drunk driver charged with killing bride on wedding night released on bail

By Faris Tanyos

Updated on: March 1, 2024 / 11:03 PM EST / CBS News

A 26-year-old woman facing homicide charges in a South Carolina crash last year that killed a bride on her wedding night has been released on bail.

Jamie Lee Komoroski was released Friday after posting $150,000 bond, according to Charleston County Sheriff's Office inmate records. She had been jailed since April 2023 on one count of reckless homicide and three felony counts drunken driving resulting in great bodily injury.

CBS affiliate WCSC reports that, according to court records, Komoroski will be placed on house arrest and will only be allowed to leave her home for medical emergencies or court orders. She will also be required to wear an alcohol monitoring device.

On the night of April 28, 2023, authorities said Komoroski was behind the wheel of a rental car that rear-ended a golf cart carrying newlyweds Samantha Miller and Aric Hutchinson in Folly Beach, a city located on Folly Island southeast of Charleston. They had been married just hours earlier, and Miller was still in her wedding dress.

Miller died in the crash and Hutchinson suffered a brain injury and numerous broken bones. Two other family members riding in the golf cart were also injured.

Komoroski had a blood alcohol level about three times the state's legal limit, according to a  toxicology report  released by the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division. Investigators said she was driving the car at about 65 miles per hour when she struck the golf cart.

Last October, Hutchinson reached a settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit brought against two bars which he accused of overserving Komoroski before the crash.

What belongs on New Bedford State Pier? Here is what's proposed.

drunk presentation night

NEW BEDFORD - A new "boat-to-table" seafood restaurant proposed for State Pier would employ 125 at peak season and bring thousands of people downtown.

That's according to Servedwell Hospitality owner Steve Silverstein, who is proposing the new 6,500-square-foot restaurant that would seat 300, and feature roof-deck dining and two bars.

It would represent a $5 million investment by Servedwell Hospitality.

Silverstein made one of the seven presentations Monday night of what's being proposed for the eight-acre State Pier's redevelopment.

Meeting was held at New Bedford Whaling Museum

The meeting at the New Bedford Whaling Museum was hosted by MassDevelopment, the state’s development finance agency and land bank, which manages the state-owned property.

A MassDevelopment review committee will review the proposals and make recommendations.

The committee could recommend accepting the proposals in total or partially - none of which are mutually exclusive - or reject them all. Leases for successful RFPS could run up to 35 years.

In addition to the restaurant, proposals include:

  • BASE Seafoods for seafood auction and off-loading facility, as well as the location of the New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center and seafood market. The BASE Seafoods proposal would open its fish and scallop auction and seafood market to the public, while providing a satellite location for the New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center for tours. It represents a $15 million investment, according to the proposal;
  • Coast Line Transfers for leasing and transformation of the East Wharf and Buildings 1 and 2, aiming to revitalize cargo operations and expand offshore wind support hub;
  • American Cruise Lines for New Bedford Cruise Gateway – a new facility designed to connect historic downtown to the water through the development of a mixed-use recreational and commercial tourism facility. It's the largest operator of U.S. cruise ships and it focuses on small towns with big history, according to the proposal;
  • New Bedford Foss Marine Terminal and PACE to support the offshore wind industry with a marine warehouse and technical training facility. While Foss would be using the warehouse space, PACE would be providing a training facility that would teach how to work in the wind industry;
  • Seastreak Ferries for continued use of the North Wharf and East Wharf for ferry service to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, as well as development of a café and merchandise retail space;
  • Cuttyhunk Ferry Co. to continue providing ferry service to the Cuttyhunk Island. Cuttyhunk Ferry Co. presented in partnership with Buzzards Bay Coalition and the town of Gosnold. Cuttyhunk is the municipal seat of Gosnold, which is the smallest town in the state. The Cuttyhunk Ferry is a vital connection to the mainland, providing transport for residents but also day trip tourists, postal service, food and freight delivery.

The public airing of the proposals was a departure from the RFP process in 2022 where the proposals were kept confidential by MassDevelopment. A proposal stemming from that go-round fell through in 2023.

That process was criticized by New Bedford legislators, including Sen. Mark Montigny , who has supported the pier's redevelopment since 2008, spearheading state bonding authorizations and the law necessary to redevelop the site.

Delays have been frustrating

He said Monday that the delays have been frustrating but recent delays were necessary to insure the redevelopment was done right. He said that MassDevelopment had taken the earlier criticism seriously, which would help in redeveloping "this tremendous asset."

Mayor Jon Mitchell praised those who submitted proposals. "They stuck their necks out," he said, though the last RFP process fell through. He said they were motivated not just by profit but by their belief in the city.

After the Writers Guild strike derailed his annual routine last year, Late Night host Seth Meyers returned to the stage of Radio City Music Hall Monday morning during NBCUniversal ‘s upfront presentation, where he took aim at the entertainment industry, and his own company.
