The following candidates are eligible to seek admission to the Ph.D. programme: Candidates who have completed:

A 1-year/2-semester master' s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor's degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master's degree programme after a 3-year bachelor's degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master's degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institutions accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institutions.

A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the commission from time to time.

Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor's degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of commission from time to time.

Candidates who have completed the M. Phil programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of commission from time to time.

Reservation is applicable only to Maharashtra domicile candidates provided they submit the necessary documents for reservation before interview. Outside Maharashtra candidates will be considered in open category.

Candidates satisfying eligibility criterion shall be called to appear for the Ph.D. entrance test conducted by MITWPU.

PhD entrance test shall be qualifying with qualifying marks as 50% provided that relaxation from 50% to 45% shall be allowed for the candidates belongs to SC/ST/OBC (Non creamy layer)/Differently abled category, Economically Weaker section (EWS) and other category of candidates. The syllabus of entrance test shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific.

The interview/viva-voce will be conducted by the university for test qualifying candidates. For selection of candidates a weightage of 70% to the entrance test and 30% to the performance in the interview/Viva-voce shall be given. For GATE/NET/JRF /SET/GPAT/CEED qualified students, the selection will be based on Interview/Viva Voce

The recommended candidates will be intimated through email about their selection and the candidates will be offered Ph.D. provisional admission.

The eligibility of a candidate is provisional as per information provided by the candidate in his/her application form and is subject to verification of minimum eligibility conditions for admission to the program, educational documents and reservation documents (if any).

University keep rights to cancel admission of the Ph.D. scholars in the case of misconduct by the scholar, unsatisfactory progress/absent for consecutive two progress seminars, failure in any examination related to Ph.D., fabrication found in educational and reservation documents, candidate is found ineligible, involved in plagiarism in paper publications and thesis.

Provisional eligibility to appear in the selection process is no guarantee for admission to the program.

Candidates who will join PhD program full time, they will be provided with the stipend as per MITWPU norms.

From driverless cars to how doctors identify and treat diseases, AI is poised to forge a future of endless new possibilities. At DYPIU, we are working on various AI problems including Foundational AI Research, Convolutional Neural Networks.

Nuclear fusion mimics the natural reactions occurring within the Sun, and has been a goal of scientists around the world since the 1950s. The process has been hailed as the “holy grail” of clean energy, as it is almost limitless, requires no fossil fuels, and leaves behind no hazardous waste. Nuclear fusion is considered the holy grail of energy production. However, in addition to this, utilization of plasma-based processes to manufacture artificial diamonds has been achieved. A group of experts of plasma physics are working in DYPIU for a variety of applications.

Virtual technologies to synthesize and create art forms and facilities.

The emphasis is on developing smart robotics to help in surgical operations on Human body.

The focus on energy is to create and utilize green and clean energy for the future and to conserve and reverse the environmental damages. Nuclear fusion is one such possibility. A Project supported by US investors called “Project Sanlayan '' was started at DYPIU as the first private project of this kind in the country.

Chronic health problems and solutions, as the name suggests, deal with nagging debilitating problems in metabolism and health. A microbiome lab has been established in DYPIU as part of Project Sushrusha. In parallel other relevant work is going on to help in this project.

Some of the key areas of research in Advanced Manufacturing include the development of Additive Manufacturing (3D printing) for applications in several areas such as Prototype development, Technology Development Materials in the fields of Engineering, Architecture, Design, Fine Arts.

The Doctoral Program leading towards the award of the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) provides the students with an opportunity for a career in Academia, Industry, Research & Development establishments along with other possibilities such as entrepreneurship.

Program Learning Outcomes

• PhD graduates from DYPIU will have a thorough knowledge of the literature and a comprehensive understanding of scientific methods and techniques applicable to their own research and make an original contribution in the chosen area of interest
• They will be able to demonstrate originality in the application of knowledge, together with a practical understanding of how research and enquiry are used to create and interpret knowledge in their field
• The program prepares students with a thorough knowledge in different fields cutting across multiple disciplines and develops outstanding researchers who have deeper understanding of the new knowledge that they create and the issues they study
• The Doctoral Program leading towards the award of the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) provides the students an opportunity for a career in Academia, Industry, Research & Development establishments along with other possibilities such as entrepreneurship.

Residential Requirement

The minimum residency requirement for the PhD program is listed in above Table . During the period of residency, the student should be available on DYPIU campus for academic and research activities during all working hours of the institute. Moreover, the student should have registered for a total of at least 4 credits during the regular semester.

Academic Advising

A student entering the PhD program will be advised in the selection of courses/faculty mentor/supervisor by the University Research Coordinator. The student is then expected to obtain consent from a member of faculty at DYPIU to supervise his/her PhD thesis. This must be done before the end of semester in which the student clears the PhD comprehensive examination.

Qualifying Examination

• Students registered for the PhD Program must pass a qualifying examination that is designed to test the overall skill sets of the student in the relevant subjects.
• Students admitted with for PhD program may appear in the qualifying examination earliest by the end of First semester itself, but must pass the examination before the end of the second semester after their first registration.
• Students should obtain a minimum 50% marks to successfully clear the qualifying examination. Students will get two chances to pass the qualifying examination. Those who fail to clear the qualifying examination in the second attempt will have to discontinue from the Program.

Financial Assistance

All those admitted as full-time PhD students will be eligible for financial support in the form of Teaching Assistantships (TA)/Research Assistantships (RAs). The assistantship is Rs. 31,000 per month till the end of the semester when the candidate clears the qualifying examination and completes the course work, whichever is later.

For the subsequent period, the assistantship gets revised to Rs. 40,000/- per month. A candidate can avail of the assistantship for a maximum duration of four years after passing the qualifying examination or clearing of Synopsis, whichever is earlier. The responsibilities associated with the teaching/research assistantship include conducting laboratory courses and tutorials for undergraduate students and assisting in teaching, research projects, and academic administration as assigned.

Research Progress Evaluation

Once a PhD student clears his/her qualifying examination, Dean (Research and Development) will form a Research Progress Evaluation (RPE) committee for assessing the PhD student’s progress in every semester. The PhD student is required to present his/her progress in the form of Research Progress Seminar (RPS) to the RPE committee. Students are also required to give a seminar in a topic not related to their research topic to broaden their knowledge. The RPE committee will assess the progress report of the student in the form of Satisfactory and Unsatisfactory, and will accordingly advise the student.

Admission to the PhD program is through institutional entrance exam/interview or both as decided by the University Selection committee. The date of entrance exam/interview will be intimated to the students. At the time of interview students can discuss their prior research experience and future research interests.

Eligibility Criteria

Who can join.

• 4-year undergraduate (B.E./B.Tech.) or a Master’s degree in relevant disciplines with a minimum of 60% marks in their eligibility examinations or an equivalent CGPA.
• Candidates with a high score in national/state level qualifying exams such as NET (UGC, CSIR, ICMR, DBT, ICAR), JAM, PERA, CAT, XAT, MAT, ATMA, NMAT, GATE, or GRE will be preferred
• Candidates may avail of any existing fellowship during PhD program
• Due consideration would be given to candidates with experience as research assistants/fellows working with recognized research institutions/industries during the admission process
• 4 year undergraduate (B.Tech./B.E. (all disciplines)) or a postgraduate in Management, Engineering, Science or Arts with a minimum of 60% marks in their eligibility examinations or an equivalent CGPA
• Candidates with self-funded fellowships will be preferred
• Candidates with a high score in other qualifying exams such as NET (UGC, CSIR, ICMR, DBT, ICAR), JAM, PERA, CAT, XAT, MAT, ATMA, NMAT, GATE, or GRE will be preferred
• Consideration will be given to students with relevant industry/academic experience. Applicants are encouraged to include hands-on project experience, if any, along with their application
• Full-time research associates or fellows working with recognized research institutions and those who have publications in refereed journals or conference proceedings will be appreciated

Fees Structure 

• Tuition fee - Rs. 75,000 per Semester
• Registration Fee - Rs. 2,500 per Semester
• Caution Deposit - Rs. 10,000 (Refundable at the end of the program)
• 1. Fill the application form available online at www.dypiu.ac.in  and submit by paying Registration fees Rs. 1000/- (Non- Refundable).
• 2. The application form can be obtained from the admission cell of the DYPIU by paying non-refundable fees Rs. 1000/-.

Duration of the course is 4-6 years, depending on the research topic and efforts involved.

Our college is one of the most prestigious colleges in Pune . Wi-Fi is available on campus and there are full, advanced classrooms with projectors and screens. Food in the canteen is okay. All types of books are available in our library. Our practical labs are also very big and well maintained.

Infrastructure of the Department is very well structured. Classrooms are very good. Library is also there where you read books quietly. Hostels are also neat and clean. Canteen also provides food at very affordable rate.

Lay a firm foundation for your research career ahead in the field of your interest. The Ph.D programs train you to provide academic research solutions for complex business and managerial issues of the construction, real estate, infrastructure, and project (CRIP) sector.

Compulsory courses

Take advantage of compulsory courses such as Research Methodology and Research and Publication Ethics that prepare you to utilize robust statistical tools in the resolution of research problems. Also get a grip on the nuances of ethical issues in the research field.

Expert guidance

As a scholar at NDS, you will be urged to work on a topic of your interest under the expert guidance of our esteemed Student Research Advisory Committee (SRAC). The committee ensures that you receive end-to-end training on all the skill sets required to emerge as a quality academician in your chosen field.

The full-time Ph.D. program shall be for a minimum duration of three years and a maximum of six years from the date of admission.

The part-time Ph.D. program shall be for a minimum duration of three years after registration confirmation (upon successful completion of the coursework) and a maximum of six years from the date of admission.

For full-time Ph.D. programs

As a full-time Ph.D scholar, you’ll be required to report to the institute on a daily basis, except on pre-approved leaves sanctioned by the competent authority. During the course of the program, you are not expected to take any other external assignment, either on a part-time or a full-time basis.

For part-time Ph.D. programs

Part-time scholars are not required to physically report to the university on a daily basis. However, they must provide a regular update about their progress to the concerned supervisor and are required to fulfill all requirements of the program. As a part-time Ph.D. scholar at NICMAR, you will pursue the program alongside your regular job at your parent institute.

Registration

All scholars admitted through the admission process are registered provisionally. The registration is done from the date of payment of the first semester fee.

It is only after the candidates successfully complete the coursework that their status will be changed from provisional to confirmed. The date of confirmed registration will be the date of declaration of the coursework examination.

It is mandatory for all scholars to enrol for coursework within six months of admission. The duration of the coursework lasts for six months, and all courses recommended must be pursued within six months. Scholars must also register for required courses as suggested by the Student Research Advisory Committee (SRAC).

In order to be eligible to continue the Ph.D. program and confirm their registration, scholars must successfully complete the coursework, and obtain a minimum of 60% or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10-point scale.

Comprehensive Examination

The objective of comprehensive examination is to test the general capability of the research scholar and the breadth of knowledge related to the chosen field of research. The examination is conducted orally.

All registered research scholars must pass the comprehensive examination within 18 months of joining the research program. A scholar can appear in the comprehensive examination only after completing the coursework requirements prescribed by the SRAC.

Progress Evaluation & Report

All research scholars shall appear at least twice on a yearly basis (once every semester) before the SRAC for progress evaluation. Furthermore, their registration will get canceled if they receive two continuous ‘unsatisfactory grades’ in their progress evaluation.

Dr. Rajni Kant Rajhans Program Director, Postgraduate Research Programs

An Associate Professor of Finance at NICMAR, Dr. Rajhans carries with him over thirteen years of academic and industry experience. He takes keen interest in the areas of Project Finance, Project Appraisal, Real Estate Finance, Risk Management, and Investment Management. He is a proud recipient of the NICMAR Teaching Excellence Award, courtesy his consistently high ratings from students in the form of feedback. Before foraying in academia, Dr. Rajhans worked with Hindalco Industries Limited, a flagship company of Aditya Birla Group.

Dr. Rajhans has published many research papers and case studies in journals of repute. He is an Editorial Advisory Board Member of Emerging Market Case Studies, Emerald Publishing, and has edited a special issue focused on Construction, Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Projects (CRIP) management in emerging markets for this journal. He has organized and attended many case-writing workshops, conferences, and symposiums. He has also conducted MDPs for reputed companies such as Tata Projects, Welspun Enterprises, and Government of Rajasthan.

An Associate Professor at the School of Construction, NICMAR, Sagar carries out his teaching duties towards Applications of BIM, Digitalisation, etc. His qualifications include a Ph.D. in the area of Building Information Modelling (BIM) (Northumbria University, UK), and a Postgraduate Degree in Construction Management (Loughborough University, UK).

Sagar believes in developing individuals who can demonstrate the capabilities of taking on practical challenges the construction industry is facing, and excel in solving those. He achieves that by facilitating an array of personalised instructions and experiences that will help students transition from one phase of their professional career to the next.

Admission process & assistance.

• Candidates seeking admission into the Ph.D. program must have successfully completed: 4-year Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of 75% marks or equivalent, OR Master’s degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale or equivalent grading points on other scales, OR M.Phil. degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent.
• Application for admission to both full-time and part-time Ph.D. programs is invited two times in a year - October-November (for sessions commencing from January), and April-May (For sessions commencing from August).
• All eligible candidates are invited to apply for admission in various specializations, and NICMAR Ph.D admission test will be conducted for all applicants. The duration of the examination is 120 minutes, and comprises 120 questions (60 questions on Research Aptitude and 60 questions on the relevant subject).
• While all eligible candidates are shortlisted for a written test and interview, UGC/CSIR-NET/JRF and GATE/SLET/SET candidates are exempted from the written test.
• The admission test and interview hold a weightage of 70% and 30% respectively in the final shortlisting process for admission. Candidates are expected to show research preparedness and aptitude for research during the interview process.
• Only those who have secured a minimum of 50% in the written examination and 50% in the interview separately are eligible for admission. The final admission offer also relies on additional criteria like the candidate’s research aptitude, and the availability of a supervisor in their chosen field.

Financial Assistance

Other than the University Grant Commission (UGC) Fellowship or other government fellowships, NICMAR offers its own ‘Doctoral Fellowship’ called ‘NICMAR Doctoral Fellowship’ (NDF) to select full-time Ph.D. scholars admitted through the admission process laid down by the university.

Under this scheme, few candidates selected for full-time Ph.D. programs will be provided a generous scholarship of up to INR 1,00,000 (Rupees One Lakh) per month during the first, second, and third years of the program, so long as they meet the academic performance criteria laid down under this scheme.

Additionally, Rs. 50,000 (Rupees Fifty Thousand) will also be provided to scholars as a contingency grant every year during these three years of the program to present papers at conferences and purchase recommended books/ stationery/equipment/software. This will be reimbursement of actual subject to the limit.

Sponsorships

The full-time scholars may be self-sponsored sponsored by industry or other sponsoring bodies including educational institutions. Foreign nationals will be admitted to the full-time scheme only.

Note: There is no financial assistance offered to part-time Ph.D. scholars from NICMAR.

Graduate Research Assistantship with the College of Nursing

Graduate Students

The MSU College of Nursing is seeking applications for a half-time (50%) graduate research assistantship position. This position will provide research support related to various projects. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, reliable, have excellent proofreading skills as well as great interpersonal skills. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform sample recruitment/consenting, intervention implementation, and data collection.
• Add and maintain literature in Endnote.
• Perform literature searches and synthesis.
• Assist in data dissemination (manuscript, conference presentation) development and preparation.
• Assist in data management and analysis.
• Assist in study-related administrative tasks (e.g., coordinate and prepare for meetings, IRB).
• Attend meetings as requested and take detailed minutes.
• Complete weekly reports highlighting what is completed and what needs to be addressed.
• Perform periodic maintenance of both the manual and electronic filing systems.

This position will be physically located in the College of Nursing Center for Nursing Research, Scholarship & Innovation (CNRSI), in shared workspace located at 1355 Bogue Street in the Life Science/Bott building. There will be access to a mailbox, computer, phone, and a secure file room.

Requirements:

• Must be an enrolled and registered graduate student at MSU
• Experience with Microsoft Suite including EndNote
• Available to work 20 hours per week with flexibility
• Willingness to learn new skills

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in behavioral or health-related major
• Experience and training in data collection, management, and analysis software (e.g., Qualtrics, SPSS)

Graduating N.J. college student was killed in crash with alleged drunk driver, family says

A 22-year-old Stockton University student who was set to graduate this May, was killed in a crash involving a drunk driver, according to the victim’s family.

On March 28, Yolanda Pacheco , of Mount Holly, was driving an SUV in the westbound lanes of the Black Horse Pike in Hamilton Township in Atlantic County, when she was struck.

The crash involved a car driven by an unidentified 25-year-old woman from Mays Landing, which collided with Pacheco’s vehicle near milepost 37.2, according to New Jersey State Police.

The impact caused Pacheco’s SUV to veer off the highway, overturn and collide with three parked vehicles, ultimately killing her, police said.

Pacheco’s passenger, a 27-year-old woman from Egg Harbor City, was treated for moderate injuries.

The 25-year-old driver of the other car involved was also hospitalized with moderate injuries, according to police.

Authorities said the investigation into the crash is ongoing, but have not commented on its progress or on the cause of the crash.

In a GoFundMe organized by Patricia Helmick, Pacheco’s mother, Hemlick says that her daughter was killed in an accident caused by an alleged drunk driver.

Pacheco was a student in Stockton University’s psychology program and was set to graduate with her bachelor’s degree in May, according to her family.

“We are now left to plan a funeral instead of a graduation party,” Helmick wrote in the GoFundMe. “No parent should have to go through this.”

The family is raising funds for Pacheco’s funeral service, scheduled for this Friday. As of Monday, they have surpassed their $20,000 goal on GoFundMe .

Described by her family as “one of a kind,” Pacheco was known for her great heart, bubbly personally and willingness to help anyone in need, her mother said in the online fundraiser.

“(Yolanda) was a great daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt and friend to her loved ones,” Hemlick said. “Losing someone so young and unexpected has caused financial hardship for her family.”

In an email sent out to students and staff, Stockton University’s administration expressed condolences to Pacheco’s family and friends and offered support services.

Pacheco’s sister, Yesenia, is also apart of the University’s community. She is the school’s coordinator of student transitions, according to Christopher C. Catching, vice president for student affairs.

Stockton’s counselors are available to help any student or staff member in need of support through telehealth or in-person appointments, Catching said in a statement.

“Students can contact the Counseling Center by calling (609) 652-4722 or visit during walk-in hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., in J-204,” Catching said.

Arizona president Robert Robbins, key figure in conference realignment, stepping down from post

Robbins oversaw the university during conference realignment as well as a financial crisis that engulfed the school.

Arizona president Robert Robbins, a major figure in athletics and conference realignment, will resign at the end of his current term. Robbins' contract expires in 2026, but he expressed openness to moving on sooner if the board appoints a successor. A national search for his replacement will begin immediately. 

Robbins was one of the most vocal figures during the collapse of the Pac-12; Arizona was one of four schools to depart the dying league for the Big 12 in 2024. After details of a proposed contract with Apple TV came to light that created commissions based on subscription numbers, Robbins compared the deal to selling "girl scout cookies." 

After Colorado announced its intention to join the Big 12 one week earlier, Arizona followed after a disastrous meeting during which former Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff presented the Apple TV deal. Four other schools left for the Big Ten, while two headed to the ACC. Only Oregon State and Washington State remain without a long-term conference home. Arizona had been in the Pac-12 Conference since 1978. 

"The past 18 months have been difficult for our university, but I am confident that our passion and commitment for doing what is right, as well as our thorough and thoughtful analysis to address our ongoing challenges, will bring our institution greater stability in short order," Robbins said in a statement.

Robbins' decision comes less than a year after the university discovered an accounting modeling error created a $240 million deficit in the university budget. Athletics have taken center stage in the scandal. The school gave the athletic department a $55 million loan to survive the pandemic, but the athletic department has been slow to honor the repayment agreement. Robbins noted in a board meeting that cutting sports is on the table. Upon his request, Robbins' salary was reduced 10% in March. 

In the months since the financial scandal broke, Arizona football lost coach Jedd Fisch to Washington along with a slew of transfer players. The university also fired athletic director Dave Heeke for "financial and operational mismanagement," according to  Action Network . Prior to his firing, Arizona hired San Jose State's Brent Brennan as coach. 

After firing Heeke, the university was able to attract athletic director -- and Arizona law alum -- Desiree Reed-Francois from Missouri . Reed-Francois is highly thought of within the industry. 

Even prior to the accounting error, Robbins battled through a tumultuous tenure. In March 2023, the University of Arizona Faculty Senate approved a "no confidence" vote in Robbins in relation to the murder of a professor on campus by a former student. 

Robbins, along with Heeke and Fisch, are only the latest figures from the legacy Pac-12 to leave their institution. Arizona State athletic director Ray Anderson was fired after the Big 12 announcement. Oregon State football coach Jonathan Smith left for Michigan State , while UCLA's Chip Kelly took a demotion to Ohio State offensive coordinator. 

Washington's Kalen DeBoer left Seattle to coach Alabama , and athletic director Jen Cohen took the same role at USC . Replacement AD Troy Dannen lasted only months before leaving for Nebraska . Not to be outdone, Washington swiped rival athletic director Pat Chun from Washington State. On the basketball court, Wazzu's Kyle Smith left for Stanford and USC's Andy Enfield chose SMU .
