Register New Species of Pokemon

Pokemon Legends Arceus New Pokedex Entry

Register new species of Pokemon in your Pokedex by catching or seeing unobserved species in the wild. Once a Pokemon has been added to your Pokedex, you can continue to update the entry on your future expeditions.

Increase Its Research Level

Pokemon Legends Arceus Updating Pokedex Entry

Once a Pokemon has been registered to your Pokedex, you will find that several information has insufficient data and the Research Level found on the bottom-right is low. To add more data to the entry and increase its Research Level, continue catching and observing this species of Pokemon.

Complete Research Tasks

Pokemon Legends Arceus Completing Research Tasks

Each Pokemon will have their own set of Research Tasks that you need to fulfill in order to complete the Pokedex. You don't need to do every single research task for a Pokemon. Just doing some until it reaches Research Level 10 is enough to complete its Pokedex entry.

Complete Pokedex Entries

Increase Research Level

To complete Pokedex entries, you need to raise the Pokemon's Research Level to 10 . Raising it to this level will consider that the research about the Pokemon is complete, which means that you do not need to complete every Research Task for it to be registered in the Pokedex.

Keep Track of Your Pokedex Progress

Pokemon Legends Arceus Pokedex Icons

You can keep track of your Pokedex progress by looking at the Poke Ball icons at the upper right corner of your Pokedex.

The gray and incomplete Poke Ball to the left represents Pokemon that you have seen , the complete but gray Poke Ball in the middle indicates Pokemon you have caught , and the colored Poke Ball to the far right represents Pokemon with complete Pokedex entries .

Research Tasks with Red Arrows Give Double Points

Earn Pokemon Research Points to Increase Your Rank

Pokemon Legends Arceus Research Points

After updating your Pokedex by completing entries or fulfilling Research Tasks, you will receive Pokemon Research Points , which levels you up to the next rank in the Galaxy Expedition Team . Ranking up will make Pokemon with a certain level to obey you without question , much like the Gym Badge mechanics in the main Pokemon games.

This means that if you have a high-levelled Pokemon and your rank is not high enough, chances are they will ignore your commands and do nothing.

Submit a Pokedex Progress Report

Pokemon Legends Arceus Submit Survey Report

Research tasks are assignments you need to do for each Pokemon to learn more about them. Each research task varies from catching several number of a specific Pokemon to watching them do a specific move several times.

Each Pokemon has a different set of research tasks that you need to accomplish and successfully doing 10 of these will complete their Pokedex entry.

How Pokédex research tasks work in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Capturing Pokémon is not enough to add them to your Pokédex

Provided by Game Freak   The Pokédex works a little differently than in past games.

To obtain the entry in the Pokédex for each Pokémon, you must reach Level 10 research level in the device. This level is only counted up to Level 10, as this is the level at which you get a full entry in your Pokédex. when you complete all the research tasks for a Pokémon, you will increase your chances of that Pokémon appearing as a shiny, although there are better methods to get those coveted shiny Pokémon.

How the research tasks levels work

As we have mentioned before, you only need Level 10 in the Pokémon to count as an entry in the Pokédex. You can see the research level by opening the Pokédex (down arrow) and selecting the Pokémon you want to see. This appears at the bottom right as shown in the image.

How to obtain and count the research Level 10

When you want to obtain the Pokédex entry of a Pokémon, you must see the research tasks that this Pokémon has. To do this you can open the Pokédex and select the Pokémon manually, or if you have the Pokémon in front of you players can press the ZL + button below to see these tasks.

Each task has different levels, among many others, the most common of which is the capture task. Each box you complete will count as a research level and if the task is marked with red arrows, each box obtained will count as two levels. Once players get to Level 10, they will have the entry of the Pokémon in the Pokédex. Here is an image so you can understand it better.

What happens if I get the tasks and I have not captured the Pokémon?

The tasks will be counted but will not count as an entry in the Pokédex until you capture the Pokémon. In the following image you can see a Haunter at Level 0 although it has already achieved some tasks.
