Hindi Diwas – History

Every year 14 th September is celebrated as Hindi Diwas by the Government of India. This is done to commemorate the adoption of Hindi as an official language of the Republic of India by the Constituent Assembly on 14 September 1949.

On this day the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi written in Devanagari script as the official language of India. It is an ancient Hindi, left to right righting system developed during 1 st to 4 th Century CE. In comprises of 47 primary characters, 14 vowels and 33 consonants.

However, the adoption of Devanagari Hindi as the official language of India wasn’t easy and it took rigorous campaigning, lobbying by several supporters of Hindi.

There were protests by different ethnic groups against the establishment of Hindi as the official language. Many stalwarts, the most prominent of them, Beohar Rajendra Simha along with Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, Maithili Sharan Gupt, Seth Govind Das and Kaka Kalelkar rallied through India, campaigning for adoption of Hindi as the official language.

At last, their efforts bore fruits and Hindi was adopted as an official language by the Indian constituent Assembly on 14 th September 1949, which was also the 50 th birth anniversary of Beohar Rajendra Simha. The adoption got the formal consent by the Constitution of India when the latter came into effect on 26 th January 1950.

On the recommendations of the then Prime minister, Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Hindi Diwas was celebrated on 14 th September 1952.

Hindi was born as a variant of Sanskrit. In course of time, it developed into an independent language with its own dialects. It is the most widely used language of the Indian subcontinent. Hindi derives most of its vocabulary from Sanskrit, Persian and Arabic languages. Hindi developed a script of its own from the 16th century and the first publication in the Devanagari script was done in 1822.

Hindi was originally written with the script of the Sanskrit language. After 1822, when the first Devanagari edition was published, the script was revised and the Hindi language became available in a standardized form. The Hindi alphabet has 26 letters in contrast to the 26 letters of the Devanagari script and all 26 letters of the alphabet have the same form as in English. After 1822, the language continued to evolve and over the centuries the modern form of Hindi has become distinctive.

The language has many dialects and varieties with its own sets of written scripts. These include Awadhi, Bundeli, Bhasa, Braj, Bundi, Buxar, Garhwali, Gaya, Hindi, Kumaoni, Maithili, Malawi, Mahajani, Marwari, Nagari, Nimadi, Pahari, Panjabi, Rajasthani, Saraswat, Saurashtra, Shilahari, Sindhi, Tharu, Western Hindi, Western Odia, and Western Punjabi. The script written in each language is its official script.

Devanagari was the standard script of Sanskrit and it was used to write Marathi from 1534 onwards. Marathi became a separate language in the mid-19th century. It is written using the Devanagari script and, like other Indian languages, is largely a Brahmic language.

In the eastern part of India, Gujarati was written in the Gujarati script. After 1820 the script became the official script of the government of the Bombay Presidency. It was followed by another Bengali script called Gaurī and was used for the official script of the Calcutta Presidency from 1787. 

Gaurī was replaced by Bengali script from 1874 and it was later used for the official script of East Bengal and the present state of Bangladesh. The Bengali script was written in a modified form with new letters which were borrowed from Devanagari.

Gujarati, Bengali, and Assamese were Brahmic languages. Sanskrit was different from them in that it had two scripts. The standard script, called Devanagari, was used in the west, whereas Brahmī script, called the Nīlakṣmī script, was used in the east.

Javanese and Sundanese scripts used for writing Malay, Dutch, and English are based on Brahmic script. The Malay script, called Batak, was based on Brahmic script. It was used to write Malay and Makassarese. It was influenced by Latin. 

The Javanese script, called Sunda Batara, was a modification of Malay script and was used for Javanese and Indonesian. The Sunda Batara script was also influenced by Roman script. The Makassarese script is not influenced by the Roman script and is more similar to the Javanese script.

The Assamese script is also based on Brahmic script. It was used to write the Assamese language and was influenced by Javanese script and Brahmic script. The Brahmic script was used to write Hindi in different forms. 

The modern form of the Hindi script, called Devanagari, is derived from the Brahmic script. It is similar to the Gujarati script and Sanskrit script. Devanagari is called "bhasa parochin" or the "new script" in Hindi. A Devanagari-based variant, called Nagari script, is used for writing Hindi in North India. It is used for modern Hindi. It was developed by Hindi writer, poet, and scholar Bijit Kumar Bhattacharya (1882–1931).

However, when Hindi was introduced as the national language, non-Hindi-speaking states opposed it and demanded the status of the national language to English as well. हिंदी आज भी भारत में लोकप्रिय भाषा है। राजनीतिक और शासकों के वर्चस्व के कारण ज्यादातर राज्यों ने हिंदी को खारिज कर दिया और स्थानीय भाषा विकसित की। यदि आप ध्यान से देखें तो हर छात्र को माध्यमिक बोर्ड परीक्षा (एसएससी) में हिंदी का पेपर पास करना होगा। फिर राज्यों ने हिन्दी भाषा को कैसे नकारा ? अधिकतर भारतीय भाषा के प्रेम, प्रेम और मधुरता को पसंद करते हैं, लेकिन तानाशाही प्रकृति की भाषा किसी को पसंद नहीं है। हिंदी भाषा वाले लोगों से प्यार करो, लेकिन आधिकारिक स्थिति वाले लोगों से नहीं। जय हिंद और हिंदी जिंदाबाद।

हर वर्ष १४ सितम्बर को संपूर्ण भारत में हिंदी दिवस मनाया जाता है। हिंदी भाषा के प्रति सम्मान प्रकट करने हेतु हर साल हम इस दिन को उत्साह से मनाते है। हिंदी भाषा विश्व में बोली जानेवाली मुख्य भाषाओं में से एक है। हिंदी हमारे देश की संस्कृति और संस्कारों का प्रतिबिम्ब है।

भारत देश में अधिकतम लोग हिंदी भाषिक हैं, इसी कारण १४ सितम्बर १९४९ को भारतीय संविधान में हिंदी को राजभाषा के रूप में स्वीकार किया गया। हमारी राजभाषा हिंदी से ही हमें संस्कृति का ज्ञान होता हैं। हिंदी विश्व की प्राचीन और समद्ध भाषा हैं। यह एक सरल भाषा हैं और किसी को भी इसे बोलने और समझने में परेशानी नहीं होती। यह भाषा पुरे भारत को एक बनाए रखती हैं।

हिंदी दीवस मनाना, हमारी राजभाषा के साथ-साथ हमारी संस्कृति के महत्व पर जोर देने के लिए एक महान कदम है। यह दिवस हमें हमारी संस्कृति और मूल्यों से बांधे रखता है। हर साल, यह दिन हमें हमारी वास्तविक पहचान की याद दिलाता है। । आज के आधुनिक युग में अंग्रेजी भाषा का भी अपना स्थान हैं, पर इस वजह से हम हमारी मातृभाषा को भुला नहीं सकते हैं।

आज लोग हिंदी में बात तो करते हैं पर कई बार उनकी बातों में अंग्रेजी शब्दों का प्रयोग होता है, लोगोंको अंग्रेजी भाषा में बात करने में अधिक गर्व महसूस होता है। इसी वजह से हिंदी के कई शब्द प्रचलन से हट रहे हैं और हम हमारी मातृभाषा हिंदी को भूलते जा रहे हैं। हमें ऐसे हरगिज नहीं होने देना है। हिंदी भाषा के विकास के लिए सभी को एक जुट होकर प्रयास करने होंगे। सभी को हिंदी भाषा का अधिक से अधिक उपयोग करना होगा तभी हम अपनी भाषा का सही अर्थ में सम्मान कर सकते है।

भारत एक विशाल देश है। यहाँ अनेक भाषाए बोली जाती है। परंतु भारतीय संविधान द्वारा बाईस भाषाओ को मान्यता प्रदान की गयी। इन भाषाओ मे हिन्दी सबसे अधिक बोली जाने वाली भाषा है। भारत की स्वतंत्रता के पश्चात 14 सितम्बर 1949 को हिन्दी को राजभाषा बनाने का निर्णय लिया गया। इसी महत्वपूर्ण निर्णय के महत्व को प्रतिपादित करने तथा हिन्दी को हर क्षेत्र में प्रसारित करने के लिए वर्ष 1953 से पूरे भारत मे 14 सितम्बर प्रत्येक वर्ष हिन्दी दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है ।

वर्ष 1918 मे गाँधी जी ने हिन्दी साहित्य सम्मेलन में हिन्दी भाषा को राष्ट्भाषा कहा था। इसे गाँधी जी ने जनमानस की भाषा भी कहा था। अंग्रेजी भाषा के बढ़ते चलन और हिन्दी की अनदेखी को रोकने के लिए स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के पश्चात 14 सितम्बर 1949 को संविधान सभा मे एक मत से हिन्दी को राजभाषा घोषित किया गया। यह निर्णय 14 सितम्बर को लिया गया। जिस कारण इसी दिन हिन्दी दिवस मनाया जाता है।

संसार में सर्वाधिक रूप से बोली जाने वाली भाषा मे हिन्दी चौथे स्थान पर है। लेकिन उसे अच्छी तरह से समझने, पढ़ने, लिखने वालो की संख्या कम होती जा रही है। साथ ही हिन्दी भाषा पर अंग्रेजी भाषा का बहुत अधिक प्रभाव पड़ा है और हिन्दी के कई शब्दो की जगह अंग्रेजी शब्द ने ले ली है। जिससे भविष्य मे हिन्दी भाषा के विलुप्त होने की संभावना बढ़ गयी है। इस कारण प्रत्येक वर्ष 14 सितम्बर को हिन्दी दिवस मनाया जाता है ताकि हम भारत के नागरिक अपने कर्तव्य को समझे और हिन्दी को विलुप्त होने से बचा सके।

हिन्दी दिवस के दिन कई कार्यकम होते है। इस दिन विद्यार्थियों को हिन्दी के प्रति सम्मान और दैनिक व्यवहार मे हिन्दी का उपयोग करने की शिक्षा दी जाती हैं। इस दिन सरकारी कार्यालयो, निगमो, संस्थानो मे यह दिवस बहुत ही उत्साह के साथ मनाया जाता है। इस दिन विभिन्न प्रतियोगिता, भाषण, वाद-विवाद, सुलेख आदि कार्यक्रम होते है। विद्यार्थियों द्वारा हिन्दी दिवस पर कविता, भाषण, नाटक आदि कार्यक्रमो मे भाग लिया जाता है। इस दिन हिन्दी के प्रति लोगो को उत्साहित करने हेतु पुरस्कार समारोह भी आयोजित किया जाता है तथा हिन्दी के क्षेत्र में काम कर रहे लोगो को सम्मानित किया जाता है।

हिन्दी हमारी राजभाषा ही नही बल्कि मातृभाषा भी है। महात्मा गाँधी, काका कालेलकर, मैथिलशरण गुप्त जैसे महान व्यक्तियो के प्रयास के बाद ही वर्तमान हिन्दी को यह सम्मान मिला है। लेकिन आज भी बहुत से स्थानो पर हिन्दी दिवस का आयोजन केवल दिखावे के लिए किया जाता है। संविधान मे जिस उद्देश्य के साथ हिन्दी को मर्यादित किया गया है, वर्तमान में वह उददेश्य प्राप्त नहीं हो सका है। अत हमे हिन्दी के मूल्य को समझना चाहिए और इसका आदर करना चाहिए।

हिंदी दिवस का पावन त्यौहार हर साल 14 सितंबर को मनाया जाता है इस साल भी हिंदी दिवस 14 सितंबर 2023 को मनाया जाएगा। हिंदी दिवस हम हिंदी भाषा के प्रति जागरूकता फैलाने के लिए मनाते है। हिंदी भाषा में बहुत सारे साहित्यकारों ने अतुलनीय काम किया है जिन्हें हिंदी दिवस के शुभ अवसर पर सरकार की तरफ से पुरस्कृत किया जाता है। इसके अलावा हिंदी दिवस के अवसर पर अलग-अलग प्रकार के समारोह को आयोजित किया जाता है।

हिंदी दिवस की शुरुआत 14 सितंबर 1953 से की गई है मगर आजादी के 2 साल बाद 1949 को एक केंद्र सरकार बैठक में हिंदी भाषा को राज्य भाषा का दर्जा दिया गया था। इसके पीछे का कारण था कि हिंदी भाषा भारत के 70% क्षेत्र में समझी जाती है और भारत की सबसे अधिक बोले जाने वाली भाषा है। मगर भारत में हिंदी साहित्यकारों को उतना सम्मान और सुविधा नहीं मिलता था जितना उन्हें मिलना चाहिए जिस वजह से हिंदी भाषा के प्रति पूरे भारतवर्ष में जागरूकता फैलाने के लिए हिंदी दिवस मनाने के ऊपर विचार किया गया। कुछ दिनों तक हिंदी को राजभाषा बनाने के ऊपर विवाद चला जिसके बाद अंततः 14 सितंबर 1953 को पूरे भारतवर्ष में हर साल हिंदी दिवस मनाने की परंपरा शुरू की गई।

हिंदी दिवस मनाने की परंपरा मुख्य रूप से 14 सितंबर 1953 को शुरू की गई थी मगर 1970 में विश्व हिंदी सम्मेलन की नींव भी रखी गई थी। हिंदी विश्व भर में तीसरी सबसे अधिक बोले जाने वाली भाषा है इससे पहले चीनी भाषा और अंग्रेजी भाषा आती है। जब विश्वास था पर हिंदी भाषा इतना अधिक इस्तेमाल किया जाता है तो हिंदी साहित्यकार और हिंदी भाषा में रचित कृतियों को विश्व भर में प्रचलित करने के लिए विश्व हिंदी सम्मेलन किया गया था। यह सम्मेलन 10 जनवरी 1970 को शुरू किया गया था जिसके बाद विश्व हिंदी सम्मेलन 10 जनवरी को मनाया जाता है मगर भारत में हिंदी को प्रचलित और भारत की एक राज्य भाषा सम्मान देने के लिए हिंदी दिवस के रूप में 14 सितंबर के दिन को अलग-अलग समारोह के जरिए आयोजित किया जाता है।

वर्तमान समय में हिंदी दिवस के पावन त्यौहार को हम बड़े हर्षोल्लास के साथ अलग-अलग प्रकार के आयोजन के जरिए मनाते है। हिंदी दिवस के दिन हम लोगों को हिंदी भाषा के प्रति जागरूक करने का प्रयास करते है। इस दिन केंद्र सरकार की तरफ से हिंदी भाषा में काम करने वाले साहित्यकारों और अन्य कवियों को विभिन्न प्रकार का सम्मान और पुरस्कार भी दिया जाता है।

हम उम्मीद करते हैं कि आने वाले समय में हिंदी दिवस के तरफ से चलाई जा रही मुहिम पूरे विश्व भर में फैले की और हिंदी को एक विश्व स्तर के अतुलनीय भाषा का दर्जा दिया जाएगा। हम जानते हैं आज भी भारत में हिंदी हर जगह नहीं समझी जाती है मगर यह जरूरी है कि हिंदी भाषा को भारत का भाषा माना जाए और उसे भारत के हर क्षेत्र में अच्छे से समझा जाए इसके लिए हिंदी भाषा के प्रचार-प्रसार को हिंदी दिवस के अवसर से तीव्र किया जा रहा है।

तब से लेकर आज तक हिंदी दिवस के पावन अवसर पर हम बड़े हर्षोल्लास के साथ अपने सभी सगे संबंधियों को हिंदी दिवस की शुभकामनाएं देते है। इस दिन अलग-अलग संस्थानों के द्वारा अलग-अलग प्रकार के समारोह का आयोजन किया जाता है जहां हिंदी कविता हिंदी भाषा और हिंदी निबंध के बारे में जानकारी दी जाती है। हिंदी दिवस के अवसर पर आयोजित अलग-अलग प्रकार के समारोह का मकसद भारत में हिंदी भाषा के प्रचार-प्रसार का बढ़ावा है।

भारत की आजादी के बाद 14 सितंबर 1949 को संविधान सभा ने एकमत से यह निर्णय लिया कि हिंदी की खड़ी बोली ही भारत की राजभाषा होगी।

इसी निर्णय को महत्व देने के लिए राष्ट्रभाषा प्रचार समिति, वर्धा के अनुरोध पर सन 1953 से पूरे भारतवर्ष में प्रत्येक साल 14 सितंबर को हिंदी दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है।

तब से धीरे धीरे हिंदी भाषा का प्रचलन बढ़ा और इस भाषा ने राष्ट्रभाषा का रूप ले लिया। अब हिंदी अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर भी काफी प्रचलित है।

आज विश्व के कोने-कोने से विद्यार्थी हमारी भाषा और संस्कृति को जानने के लिए हमारे देश की तरफ रुख कर रहे हैं। लेकिन हम खुद ही हिंदी भाषा का सम्मान नहीं करते हैं।

हम अंग्रेजी भाषा के गुलाम बनते जा रहे हैं। जिस व्यक्ति को अंग्रेजी नहीं आती उसे गवार कहकर पुकारा जाता है। आज स्कूलों में भी अन्य भाषाओं को सिखाने में ज्यादा महत्व दिया जाता है।

आज हर एक हिंदुस्तानी को यह समझने की जरूरत है कि हिंदी से हिंदुस्तान है। जबकि हम हिंदी भाषा की ही आलोचना कर रहे हैं।

जो लोग हिंदी भाषा में बात करते हैं हम उन्हें ऐसे देखते हैं जैसे उन्हें कुछ आता नहीं है। हम उन्हें गवार समझते हैं और उनसे कोई वास्ता नहीं रखते हैं।

हम आपसे यह कहना चाहते हैं कि अपनी भाषा को छोड़कर दूसरी भाषा को महत्व देना ठीक नहीं है। ऐसा नहीं है की जो अंग्रेजी बोलते हैं वह कोई महान व्यक्ति हैं, अंग्रेजी भी एक भाषा है जैसे हिंदी भाषा है।

हिंदी ही हमारे देश का गौरव है और हमारा मान है। इसलिए प्रत्येक हिंदुस्तानी को ना केवल हिंदी आनी चाहिए बल्कि उसे हिंदी का सम्मान भी करना चाहिए।

अपनी भाषा को सम्मानित करने के लिए महान उत्साह के साथ हिंदी दिवस मनाएं। कुछ स्पेशल करें, जिससे कि लोग हिंदी का उपयोग अधिक से अधिक करने के लिए प्रेरित होवें।

हमारे रोजमर्रा के जीवन में कई महत्वपूर्ण दिवस आते हैं। ऐसा ही एक दिवस के रूप में हम 14 सितंबर को मनाते हैं। यह दिन हिंदी दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है।

आजादी के बाद 14 सितंबर 1949 के दिन ही हिंदी भाषा को मातृभाषा का गौरव प्राप्त हुआ। 14 सितंबर को हिंदी दिवस मनाने का निर्णय 1953 को लिया गया। तब से लेकर आज तक हम हिंदी दिवस मनाते आ रहे हैं।

हिंदी के प्रति जागरूकता बढ़ाने में हिंदी दिवस का बहुत ही महत्वपूर्ण योगदान है। हिंदी दिवस यानी 14 सितंबर के दिन स्कूल के बच्चों को मातृभाषा का महत्व बताने के लिए प्रोजेक्ट दिए जाते हैं। विद्यार्थी वाद विवाद, भाषण, कविता, निबंध आदि प्रतियोगिताओं का आयोजन किया जाता है।

लेकिन दुख की बात यह है कि आज की युवा पीढ़ी अपने जीवन की व्यस्तता में इतना खो गयी है कि उसे यह दिन याद तक नहीं रहता। हम सभी जानते हैं की सर्वाधिक बोली जाने वाली भाषा को वह सम्मान प्राप्त नहीं है जो उसे मिलना चाहिए।

इसका कारण है अपनी भाषा को तुच्छ समझना। इसके सबसे बड़े दोषी हम हिंदी भाषी हैं। जब तक हम खुद अपनी मातृभाषा का सम्मान नहीं करेंगे तब तक हम इसे सम्मान नहीं दिला पायेंगे।

अपनी भाषा के प्रति हीन भावना रखना देश के साथ गद्दारी के समान है। आओ, हम सब भारतवासी आज के दिन हिंदी दिवस पर यह प्रण करें कि हम हिंदी भाषा को भारत की सर्वश्रेष्ठ भाषा मानकर इसे उचित सम्मान प्रदान करें।

किसी भी देश की मातृभाषा उसकी विरासत होती है। जिस तरह हम तिरंगे का सम्मान करते हैं उसी तरह हमें अपनी मातृभाषा का सम्मान भी करना चाहिए।

आज लोग हिंदी में बात तो करते हैं लेकिन कई बार उनकी बातों में अंग्रेजी शब्दों का प्रयोग होता है। लोगों को अंग्रेजी भाषा में बात करने से अधिक गर्व महसूस होता है।

इसी वजह से हिंदी के कई शब्द प्रचलन से हट रहे है और हम हमारी मातृभाषा हिंदी को भूलते जा रहे हैं। हमें ऐसा हरगिज़ नहीं होने देना है।

हिंदी भाषा के विकास के लिए सभी को एकजुट होकर प्रयास करने होंगे। सभी को हिंदी भाषा का अधिक से अधिक उपयोग करना होगा। तभी हम अपनी भाषा का सही अर्थ में सम्मान कर सकते हैं।
