IGN's Elden Ring complete strategy guide and walkthrough will lead you through every step of Elden Ring from the title screen to the final credits, including every collectible location, boss strategy and more.
Continuing in the vein of previous titles from FromSoftware including Dark Souls and Bloodborne, Elden Ring is set in a brand new world of dark fantasy, and brimming with dangerous dungeons and powerful enemies. Long ago, the land was ruled by an eternal Queen Marika and her demigod children, under the blessing of the giant Erdtree and the magical power known as the Elden Ring. However, unknown forces stole the Rune of Death from the Elden Ring's power, bringing about war and cataclysm between the Demigods, and the Elden Ring was shattered. Your task as one of the formerly exiled Tarnished is to return to the Lands Between ruined by war, and recover the Great Runes from the maddened Demigods to become an Elden Lord.
Unlike previous From Software titles, Elden Ring allows you to traverse a vast open world filled with lost souls, treasure, various challenging mini dungeons , imposing roaming world bosses , and secrets in every corner. Each major region of The Lands Between is home to a Legacy Dungeon, home to one of the Demigods, and more familiar to Souls fans as a more traditional and possibly linear dungeon experience. Because of this, you'll be able to approach your adventure in a variety of ways, and possibly even tackle the different Legacy Dungeons in different orders.
Get started with Essential Tips and Tricks and Things Elden Ring Doesn't Tell You , and then use our Walkthrough and Guide to help you through each of the main Legacy Dungeons for strategies on advancing through the tricky locations, tips to defeat the bosses within - as well as where to find every Item , Weapon , Armor , and more along the way. If you just want to read up on a boss, we also assembled a complete list of Elden Ring Bosses along with tips and videos on how to beat them.
IGN's Elden Ring Walkthrough is presented with the initial tutorial intro, followed by general overviews for each segment of the main regions of The Lands Between, with links to all major points of interest, mini dungeons, roaming bosses, and secrets. Once you've had your fill exploring and getting more powerful, our walkthrough continues with in depth guides for the Legacy Dungeon of that region, including how to get in, and how to defeat the bosses within while finding every item and secret path along the way.

Unlike other open world RPGs and action games, Elden Ring's side quests are exclusively tied to the characters you meet as your travel through the Lands Between. Many of them can be found in secret locations, and may travel to different regions as you do over the course of the game, pursing their own agendas. Some will help you, others may lie or even turn against you - and certain character quests can culminate in helping you achieve different endings by allying yourself to certain people or factions - and only by following their questline can you activate these endings after beating the final boss. Note that you won't have to choose between character quests to follow whether or not you choose to invoke an ending they may have for you. All character questlines can be completed alongside each other (or ended early if you decide to kill someone). Below you'll find the most major questlines that can trigger unique endings:

Perseverance and a sense of pride arise organically through play. Tough battles demand tenacity. Beating an epic boss rewards players with sense of accomplishment. Online cooperative play, meanwhile, encourages teaming up with and helping others achieve shared goals. But keep in mind that the heart of the game is sensationalized, bloody combat.
Game's hero intends to become the Elden Lord, a quest that involves a lot of brutal fighting. They don't speak or reveal much in the way of emotion or motivation, but instead display an unshakable dedication of purpose with matching tenacity.
Hero's gender, skin tone, and voice can be modified. The world is populated by fantasy creatures and humanoids, appearance largely obscured by helmets and clothing. Most non-player characters are light-skinned.

Extremely challenging game with difficult-to-master combat, potential for significant loss of progress whenever the hero dies. Tutorials available through help menu cover basics, but many mechanics feel mysterious and must be riddled out through experimentation.
Players engage in medieval-style combat from third-person perspective, using swords, axes, hammers, bows and arrows, and magic -- sometimes while atop a horse -- to attack a variety of fantasy creatures and humanoid soldiers. Blood often splashes from wounds, coating hero's armor, turning it red. Bodies of the dead litter the ground.

Parents need to know that Elden Ring is a fantasy role-playing game (RPG) for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Windows PCs. A collaboration between Japanese developer From Software (makers of Dark Souls ) and renowned fantasy writer George R.R. Martin (of A Song of Ice and Fire fame), this open-world RPG is tough and intense. Assuming the role of a customizable hero -- you can select gender, skin tone, and voice -- players quest to restore the game's titular ring, a powerful artifact shattered long ago. Players spend the bulk of their time exploring a world filled with aggressive humanoids and monsters, including goblins and trolls as well as fantasy animals such as huge crabs and massive bears. Combat -- sometimes from atop a horse -- is frenetic and bloody, involving swords, axes, shields, bows and arrows, and magic. Red blood sprays from wounds and coats the hero's armor, and bodies are seen strewn on the ground. The fighting can be very difficult, with death potentially resulting in lost progress. Themes of perseverance and pride in accomplishing difficult tasks emerge organically through play. Limited online play encourages players to cooperate with each other to achieve objectives, as well as engage in friendly competition against others. One of the enemies appears partially nude, with only scales obscuring its breasts. The words "hell" and "s--t" appear in dialogue.

What’s it about.
ELDEN RING is an action role-playing game that drops players into the Lands Between, an expansive otherworldly realm filled with foggy fields and forest thickets, castle ruins and dark dungeons. Taking on the role of a Tarnished -- a warrior cast out of this domain, now returned to reassemble a shattered ring and become the Elden Lord -- the player freely roams the land on foot and horseback looking for demigods in possession of the ring's shards. But defeating these powerful enemies is no small feat. Along the way to each boss, players will encounter many challenging enemies that must be overcome via skillful application of melee and ranged combat tactics. This involves switching between swords, shields, bows, and other armaments as the situation demands, learning how to effectively block, dodge, and parry incoming attacks, employing stealth if at all possible, and knowing when you've met your match so that you can beat a hasty retreat and live to fight another day. Death results in a temporary loss of all accumulated and unspent experience points, and these points -- used to upgrade the hero's base stats, making them stronger with each level -- will disappear forever should you perish before finding your way back to the spot where you died. Players can also increase their hero's strength by finding new weapons and armor and upgrading it with special resources and talismans. A crafting system that makes use of various plant, animal, and mineral resources found along the way allows players to make arrows and other items that can increase their odds when facing down tough foes. As a last resort, you can summon other players to your world to help defeat especially tricky bosses -- but be wary, because multiplayer can also be competitive, with other players "invading" your world to attack rather than help you.
It's a bit reductive to suggest that this is just a Dark Souls game set in an open world, but when you get right down to it, that's exactly what it is. ELDEN RING preserves just about everything that From Software's fans love about the studio's games, including a punishing level of difficulty, ambiguous yet weirdly compelling storytelling, the ability to leave messages for other players and help strangers having a tough time, and a host of mysterious artifacts, the purposes of which need to be gradually riddled out through play. At times Dark Souls players will feel like they're simply playing a sequel in that series as they tread cautiously through dark towers. They'll peer around corners, heart pounding, looking for hidden enemies that can kill in just one or two swings of their massive swords, and hope to spy a save point where they can safely spend all of the experience points they've accumulated before dying and losing them all. The fighting is tough, but it's also fair -- especially once you've mastered various skills and attacks and gotten to know your enemies' patterns. And the reward is that taking down harder foes carries with it a sense of accomplishment not felt in most games. Players are forced to earn their victories, and that means something. In other words, it's largely business as usual for a From Software game.
The big change, of course, is that these familiar features are set in a sprawling, more or less ungated open world that players can freely explore. But whether this open world makes for a better experience than the Dark Souls games -- which feature meticulously designed and mostly linear environments -- is an open question. The free-to-roam world adds elements novel to From Software games, such as the ability to summon a steed to get around a little more quickly and fight enemies from a mounted position -- which can be a real advantage in some battles. There are also changes to the purpose and type of enemies encountered. For example, you'll find easy-to-dispatch animals all over the world and may be tempted to simply ignore them, but skillfully dispatching an entire group will refill your restorative health flask without forcing you to find and use a save point, which would respawn all the enemies you've defeated. Tactical consideration is built into everything. But do these modifications improve upon the traditional Souls formula? From Software's trademark nonstop intensity is significantly ratcheted down when roaming about open spaces, where it's easy to escape or simply avoid most enemies. And the exquisitely handcrafted, labyrinthine environments the studio is known for are limited to keeps, caverns, and dungeons found within the open world. These don't make up the bulk of the game, which may disappoint some. In the end, Elden Ring knows what it wants to be and it fully embodies that game. Players will need to determine for themselves whether it's an improvement.
Families can talk about violence in the media . Is the impact of the violence in Elden Ring affected by the frequently bloody and intense combat? Do you think the story and its hero justify this violence, or does the blood and gore go too far?
What is it that drives people to risk danger by doing things like diving deeper, climbing higher, and even going to space? Do you feel as though open-world games successfully emulate this feeling of discovery?

Discover the best builds in Elden Ring for every attribute
Looking for the best Elden Ring build? Elden Ring uses five key stats to determine effectiveness in combat. These are Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith, and Arcane. Whether you want to wield a greatsword, katana or use the power of spells, you'll need to know which stats to prioritise and the best weapons for each build.
Since its launch back in 2022, different builds have risen and fallen in popularity post-patch content updates. Luckily, we've taken this into account and devised a list of the top ten Elden Ring builds, separated by core stats. Besides making it easier to know which key spirit ashes , items and talismans you'll need on your journey through the Lands Between, it will also help you best prepare your Tarnished for the launch of the upcoming Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC .
On this page:
If you want to kill every boss in Elden Ring , you'll want an unstoppable build. While there are countless possibilities that you could try, we've scoured the Lands Between to find some of the best Elden Ring builds around. Below, you'll find 10 builds that each excel in different areas. We've got builds for each of the 5 main damage-based attributes (Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith, and Arcane), as well as some outstanding combo builds that combine certain stats.
For each build, we break down the required weapons and stats that you'll need, as well as the main stats to focus on as you continue to level up. We also recommend a starting class , but this isn't too much of a problem. Classes are more of a starting guideline in Elden Ring, so they're all malleable enough bend into your preferred playstyle - it might just take a few extra levels to get there.
We'll then go on to explain what makes the build so strong, explaining the key tactics, skills, and items that you can use to destroy your enemies and forge your path to becoming Elden Lord.
If one of the builds below takes your fancy and you haven't put levels into the required stat, don't fear! With our handy guide on how to respec in Elden Ring , you can try out any of the builds on this list.
The Blasphemous Blade greatsword continues to wreak havoc thanks to its weapon skill, Taker's Flame, which has only improved post-launch. As per the Elden Ring 1.07 patch , Taker's Flame has an added hitbox for weapon damage. This essentially means that the blade itself will deliver damage simultaneously with the flame effect. When you use Taker's Flame , it allows you to regain health with each hit, ensuring that you can always bounce back during a fight. Whether you're in a gruelling boss encounter or clearing mobs in a dungeon, Taker's Flame will get you back to full health with ease and deal plenty of damage to surrounding enemies.
To make Taker's Flame even stronger, we'd recommend focusing on increasing your Faith stat. Strength will increase the damage of your physical attacks, but we'd recommend using Taker's Flame as often as possible to get through fights with ease. To get a headstart on this build, we recommend using the Confessor , as they start with a good spread of points between Strength and Faith.
Of course, you'll also want to raise your Endurance so that you can wield the Blasphemous Blade and any armor that you require without getting a heavy load. You should also pump some points into Mind , so that you can raise your maximum FP to cast Taker's Flame more before needing to chug a Flask.
Since this build is based on the Taker's Flame skill, we recommend using the Carian Filigreed Crest and Shard of Alexander to lower the FP cost of Taker's Flame and make it do more damage.
Check out more about this build with our dedicated Blasphemous Blade build guide .
The Dark Moon Greatsword is Elden Ring's version of a classic FromSoftware weapon: the Moonlight Greatsword. It's a remarkable Strength and Intelligence-based weapon thanks to its signature skill, also titled Moonlight Greatsword. When you use this skill, the weapon is coated in glistening moonlight, and sends out beams of moonlight with each heavy swing. Surprisingly since launch, the Dark Moon Greatsword hasn't received any notable buffs or nerfs, cementing it as a reliable and popular choice amongst the fanbase.
If you're looking for another melee build that blends with magic, focusing on Strength and Intelligence will allow you to unlock the powerful potential of the Sword of Night and Flame . This is a weapon that you can use to cast two spells: Comet Azur and Flame Sweep . While Flame Sweep is strong, Comet Azur is where the Sword of Night and Flame really excels. It blasts cosmic energy out of the tip of the blade, which will effortlessly blitz through most bosses.
To use this weapon, you need to reach 12 with Strength and Dexterity and 24 with Intelligence and Faith. However, after reaching these minimum requirements, we recommend focusing solely on Strength and Intelligence, as this will increase your physical attack damage and the magic damage dealt with the Comet Azur spell.
When you pair the Sword of Night and Flame's Comet Azur with the Carian Filigreed Crest , a talisman that decreases the FP cost of weapon skills, you can use the spell consistently without rapidly burning through your mana pool. This means you can deal plenty of damage before needing to chug an FP potion and proves devastating against almost every boss.
You can learn more about this with our dedicated Sword of Night and Flame build guide .
The final boss in Elden Ring is tough, but it also grants an incredible reward. If you take the Elden Remembrance to Enia at the Roundtable Hold, you can exchange it for the Sacred Relic Sword . This is a strong greatsword that comes with an exceptional weapon skill: Wave of Gold .
When you use Wave of Gold, it unleashes a huge wave of holy light that deals massive damage to any enemies in front of your player. As this wave travels, it expands to catch more enemies, so it will rip through groups of enemies with ease. This skill got even better in patch 1.04, as it now has a lower FP cost and casts faster. The skill did see a decrease in damage and poise damage in patch 1.09. This is only for PvP however, as such the Sacred Relic Sword is still currently one of the best weapons in Elden Ring .
Focusing on Dexterity and Faith will increase the damage of your sword attacks and Wave of Gold, but you can make this build even better with certain items. The Carian Filigreed Crest talisman and Ash-of-War Scarab helmet will lower the FP cost of Wave of Gold even further, making it incredibly cheap to cast. Combine these with the Shard of Alexander talisman, which increases the damage of weapon skills, to create a dominant Dexterity/Faith build that effortlessly shreds even the toughest enemies in the Lands Between.
Rivers of Blood is undoubtedly the best weapon in Elden Ring as the weapon skill, Corpse Piler , allows you to unleash a flurry of slashes that rapidly inflict the bleed effect on an enemy. With the huge damage potential of this skill, Rivers of Blood has become an infamous weapon that pops up in almost every PvP duel. Whilst this skill was slightly nerfed in the 1.06 patch, the attack power was later increased in patch 1.07 so it remains a powerful weapon choice.
Arcane and Dexterity are the most important stats here, and leveling these really allows you to unlock the full potential of this build. As your melee damage increases, you will find that Rivers of Blood slices through foes with incredible ease. The only downside to this build is the location of Rivers of Blood, as it is found in the Church of Repose, an area in the late-game Mountaintops of the Giants region.
Since Corpse Piler deals a string of melee hits, you can use the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia talisman to make this build ridiculously powerful. This makes each hit with Corpse Piler deal more damage, ensuring an easy kill on most enemies.
You can learn more about this build with our dedicated Rivers of Blood build guide .
The Giant-Crusher is a big colossal weapon that does big damage. It's an excellent pick for any Strength build and, with a range of buffs available from incantations and other abilities, you'll find that it can easily kill most enemies in just a few hits. Oh, and you can dual wield it in new game plus. Double the damage, double the giant-crushing potential.
The Giant-Crusher requires a Strength of 60, but you'll also need high Endurance since it has a weight of 26.5. Unless you're going for a Barbarian-style unarmored build, you'll need to boost Endurance enough to be able to use the Giant-Crusher and armor together. You can only find one Giant-Crusher on your first run, but dual-wielding becomes an option when it respawns in new game plus.
The buffs are the most important part of this build, as they allow you to massively increase your melee damage and equip load. The Flame Grant Me Strength incantation is an Elden Ring classic that boosts physical attack power, so it’s an obvious starting point for boosting damage. This does mean you’ll need a seal in your off-hand temporarily. If you're using two Giant-Crushers, quickly use a seal to cast the incantation and then swap back to your weapons.
Royal Knight’s Resolve is another key buff that’ll make this Giant-Crusher build excel. This is an Ash of War that you can attach to both Giant-Crushers that, when activated, boosts the damage of your next hit by a whopping 80%. This is crucial in tough boss fights, as you can use Royal Knight’s Resolve and then unleash a powerful jump attack to deal huge damage. It is worth noting that if you're thinking of using this build for PvP, as per the 1.09 patch, Royal Knight’s Resolve received a slight nerf in effectiveness.
Since this build is all about maximising physical damage, you can also use Godrick’s Great Rune and a range of talismans to raise your Strength even further. When all of these boosts come together, you’ll have an unstoppable Strength build that unleashes hell with every hit. Even better, the Giant-Crusher is great at staggering enemies, making them vulnerable to easy follow-up attacks that'll give you a significant advantage.
You can learn more with our dedicated Elden Ring Strength build guide .
Like the Strength build above, this Bloodhound build focuses on raising your key attribute, Dexterity , and applying a range of buffs from talismans and spells to deal ridiculous damage with every hit. For this build, you should dual-wield the Bloodhound’s Fang blade with the Bloodhound Claws so that you have a balance between fast and powerful attacks. While these weapons both require some Strength to wield, we recommend focusing on Dexterity after meeting the requirements stated above, as they scale better and will deal more damage with Dexterity.
To buff this build even further, you should equip the Claw Talisman and Rotten Winged Sword Insignia . These talismans will increase your jump attack and consecutive hit damage respectively, which really makes this build excel. You’ll also want to track down Flame Grant Me Strength so that you can quickly cast it from your offhand to boost physical damage before swapping to your Bloodhound's Claws.
With all of the above, you can run into any fight and close the distance with a powerful jump attack from the Bloodhound’s Fang, following up shortly after with a few quick strikes from the Bloodhound’s Claws. If these attacks don’t bring down the enemy straight away, they’ll build up the bleed effect and deal an incredible amount of extra damage to secure the kill.
You can learn more with our dedicated Elden Ring Dexterity build guide .
When you think magic, you probably think of the glass-cannon wizard who dies in just a few hits. In Elden Ring, that doesn’t have to be the case. With this Elden Ring battlemage build, we’ll offer a heavy-Intelligence build that dual wields Lusat’s Glintstone Staff with the incredible Wing of Astel sword to deal devastating amounts of damage at any range.
With this build, the Intelligence stat will be your main focus, but you’ll need 10 points in Strength and 17 in Dexterity to wield the weapons mentioned above. After this, you can dump points into Intelligence and increase damage with both weapons.
Since both weapons deal magic damage, you can then apply a range of magic buffs to substantially improve both your melee and ranged options. These include the Terra Magica sorcery, which places a rune on the floor that you can stand in to increase magic damage, and the Marika’s Soreseal , which raises your Intelligence by 5 levels (as well as Faith, Mind, and Arcane). You can boost your spells further with the Graven-Mass Talisman and Radagon Icon , which increase sorcery damage and shorten spell casting time respectively.
For the actual spells that you should equip, there are countless options available. Adula's Moonblade is an excellent melee spell that inflicts frostbite, while Comet Azur and Rock Sling are both strong ranged options. Comet Azur is especially good for tearing through bosses, while Rock Sling deals strike damage that will stagger most enemies. Check out our list of the best spells in Elden Ring for more options.
You can learn more with our Elden Ring Intelligence build guide .
If you want to use a Faith build, then Lightning incantations are the way to go. Many of the best incantations in Elden Ring will deal lightning damage, and combining them all into one build is sure to make you unstoppable. Of course, spells aren't going to keep you alive alone, so we also have a couple of melee weapons that you can rely on in a close-quarters situation, along with some Faith buffs that are crucial in almost any build.
Let's start with the spells, since that's why we're all here. Your best spell for this lightning build is the Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike , which will absolutely decimate bosses. It won't prove effective against single enemies as it takes a while to charge up, but those pesky Erdtree Avatars scattered around the map won't know what hit 'em. For focusing on the smaller enemies, Lightning Spear is a strong ranged option that you can use to close the distance, that's where your melee weapon comes in. Additionally, as per the 1.07 update , the Lightning Spear now has increased attack power when charged and decreased FP consumption when attacking guarded enemies.
For this build, we recommend using the Inseparable Sword in your main hand and the Bolt of Gransax in your offhand. You can swap between the Bolt of Gransax and your Seal when you need to cast incantations, but the Inseparable Sword is an excellent melee option that scales with Strength, Faith, and Dexterity. If you want to add an extra lightning flair, you can use the Vyke's Dragonbolt incantation to coat your weapon and body with lightning too.
Finally, the buffs. This build already deals plenty of damage, but a little extra won't hurt anyone. Well, it'll hurt your enemies a lot, but that's the point. Golden Vow and Flame, Grant Me Strength are obvious picks here - Golden Vow increases your damage by 15%, and Flame, Grant Me Strength will boost your physical attacks even further. To increase the damage of your lightning spells, the Lightning Scorpion Charm and Flock's Canvas Talisman should do the trick.
To learn more about this Elden Ring Faith build, check out our dedicated Lightning Lord build guide .
As you can tell from the name, the Elden Ring Blood Lord build once again uses the bleed effect to melt enemies. However, compared to the Dexterity-based Bloodhound and Rivers of Blood builds above, this build focuses almost entirely on Arcane , requiring just 24 Strength and 14 Dexterity. This is because it uses Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear , a weapon that you can get after defeating Mohg, Lord of Blood .
Since Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear scales with Arcane, that should be your main stat for this build. Raising the Arcane stat while using Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spear also increases the speed with which it will apply the bleed effect, meaning those with a high Arcane stat will cause an enemy to bleed almost instantly.
However, it’s the Bloodboon Ritual weapon skill that makes this build truly overpowered. It thrusts the spear into the air up to three times, sending out bursts of blood towards enemies and coating the spear with bloodflame. If you use this skill after consuming a Flask of Wondrous Physick that includes the Cerulean Hidden Tear , it won’t cost any FP, allowing you to inflict bleed on any enemies around you and deal massive damage without wasting a single point. As per the 1.07 patch, when using this effect in PvP, the damager remains the same but the range has been reduced.
To learn more about our Blood Lord build, take a look at our dedicated Elden Ring Arcane build guide .
While every build above is a viable option for PvP, none are quite as unstoppable as the Elden Ring mech build. With this build, you transform yourself into a metal Mario-style Tarnished and unleash fiery missiles from your eyeballs. It's incredibly intense, and certain to overwhelm your opponent with its relentlessly furious projectiles.
This build require 31 Faith to use the Unendurable Frenzy incantation, but you'll also need to collect a range of items. These include the Cerulean Hidden Tear and Crimsonwhorl Bubbletear , which you can mix in the Flask of Wondrous Physick to temporarily remove all FP costs and absorb any incoming magic damage to turn it back into health. Most importantly, you'll need to craft the Ironjar Aromatic , which requires the Perfumer's Cookbook (3) .
When you combine these items, you will become a metallic mech-like beast that can fire endless missiles from your own face. While these items won't last forever, you'll find that this build wreaks havoc on enemy players, so you'll probably win the duel before the mech effects wear off.
If you want to learn where to find these items and see how this build works when it comes together, take a look at our dedicated Elden Ring mech build guide for a full breakdown. Whilst Unendurable Frenzy did receive a power decrease within PvP as per the 1.07 patch, it remains a solid choice, especially if you want to sow maximum chaos.
That covers the 10 best builds in Elden Ring. If you're lost in the Lands Between and aren't sure where to go next, take a look at our Elden Ring walkthrough for a breakdown of each region, main boss, and legacy dungeon. Of course, there's lots more to discover as you explore, so check out our Elden Ring sidequest guide to learn more about every NPC and how to complete their quests. Plus, info about the physical edition and free Photo Mode.
In Alan Wake 2, the titular writer is trying to escape the Dark Place, a shifting, nightmare version of New York, by penning pages and pages of different escape attempts. And some of those stories are set in… Night Springs.
Night Springs… a fictional town, full of the thrilling and bizarre, where the familiar turns strange. Night Springs… a TV show Alan Wake once wrote for. Night Springs… the first expansion to Alan Wake 2, Remedy Entertainment’s award-winning survival horror, is out tomorrow, June 8, on PlayStation 5!
In its three self-contained episodes, the Night Springs expansion presents three ways Alan Wake attempted to find his way out of the endless loops of the Dark Place. You will get to play as three characters from the world of Alan Wake.
While they will be familiar at first glance, they are Night Springs echoes of themselves, archetypes based on characters players have already encountered.
Put yourself in the shoes of the Number One Fan, who bears a striking resemblance to the waitress Rose Marigold, and fight the shadows in pursuit of truth and love with your trusty shotgun by your side. As the Actor, who may be called “Shawn Ashmore” in some realities and “Sheriff Timothy Breaker” in others, you will take on the mantle of the Time Breaker and defeat the villain hunting for you. And in the North Star episode, unravel coffee-based secrets and cosmic caffeine mysteries as the Sibling, who may seem familiar to those who know Jesse Faden, director of the Federal Bureau of Control.
In Night Springs, players will fight and puzzle their way through familiar, yet transformed locations. Expect more dream logic, twists and turns that only a sci-fi adventure written by Alan Wake can provide, and even more experimenting with different types of media, like a playable arcade game and a comic book.
Trophy hunters and completionists can look forward to 12 new challenges in Night Springs. Share your progress with us on social media using the #NightSprings hashtag!
Night Springs will be available with the Alan Wake 2 Expansion Pass, which is included in both the digital Deluxe Edition and the upcoming physical Deluxe and Collector’s Editions of Alan Wake 2. PlayStation players who would like to pre-order either of the physical editions can do so starting June 8. If you own the digital Standard Edition, you have the option to upgrade to the Deluxe Edition to access the expansions.
Night Springs is, however, not the end. The Lake House, the second and final expansion to Alan Wake 2, tells the story of a mysterious government facility on the shores of Cauldron Lake, and the time the secret research conducted there went terribly, terribly wrong. Look forward to the Lake House expansion later this year!
Also available tomorrow – Photo Mode! Everyone who owns Alan Wake 2 will get it as a free update. In the story of the game, Alice Wake, Alan’s wife, is a photographer, and as such the settings of the Alan Wake 2 Photo Mode – such as f-stop, focal length, etc. – have been taken from the art of photography and use photographic values.
As a team, we’ve learned a lot from developing photo mode for Control, and as a result we’re very happy to be able to offer players new features in Alan Wake 2’s Photo Mode. You can now play around with lighting and use several types of lighting such as a spotlight, the flashlight from the game, and of course the inevitable and classic camera flash. This gives all you virtual photographers the tools to create shots that can have a dramatically different mood and look to the aesthetics of what you see in the game.
Of course, we couldn’t overlook the chance to embrace the visual themes from the game in Photo Mode as well. You will have several presets at your disposal that you can quickly select, including ones that enable you to recreate the look of the evidence photos you can find on Saga’s Case Board. The Photo Mode comes with several different filters and frames, including postcard frames from different locations around the game.
Look around and capture your impressions of the Pacific Northwest and the rainy, night-time New York City of the Dark Place. We’re very much looking forward to seeing what you’ll come up with! Tag your shots with the #AW2Photomode hashtag on social media to share them with the community.

Recently, several people had the opportunity to play Elden Ring's upcoming DLC, Shadows of The Erdtree . While they were only allowed to show pre-recorded footage, content creators shared their experiences in detail.
Traveling to Los Angeles for the event, YouTuber Vaati Vidya was given the chance to test this new expansion for three hours. Vaati is a well-known creator among fans of Fromsoftware games, exploring the lore of the Dark Souls and Armored Core series in great depth. Elden Ring is, obviously, also part of his expertise. There were still interesting tidbits in item descriptions and NPC interactions, even with a time limit and under supervised restrictions. With that said, there were also plenty of new gameplay elements to be found that will surely make fans excited.
Millicent's quest in Elden Ring is easy to miss, and it's also one of the longest and most difficult quests. This guide will help you complete it.
Fromsoftware has a stellar track record of producing high-quality DLC for their games, introducing challenging bosses and all sorts of new combat tools. There are a total of eight new weapons categories, including three different types of weapons that were unknown till now: Light Greatswords, Perfumer Bottles, and Beast Claws. Light Greatswords appear to be of similar size compared to regular Greatswords such as the Claymore, but with a more fluid attack pattern. Perfumer Bottles seem to work differently than the item version that players can craft in the base game, more akin to the Depraved Perfumer enemy. Beast Claws are agile, hand-to-hand weapons that share their name with a weapon from Bloodborne .
Along with new incantations and spells, there will be plenty of tools for every kind of playstyle to defeat the new bosses. One of these said bosses will be the Divine Dancing Lion, which was shown frequently in Shadows of The Erdtree's initial previews. The beastly creature has powers related to storms, such as wind and lightning attacks. For the first major boss, it was reportedly quite tough - resorting to the players utilizing powerful spirit ashes to help defeat it so they could explore the rest of the DLC. For gamers who love the challenges Fromsoftware games are known for, this should be good news.
Fans can now enter to win a Messmer the Impaler statue, among other prizes, from Bandai Namco while they await Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
The Land of Shadows is looking to be quite large and filled with content, expecting to live up to Elden Ring's launch success. Players who attempt to start the expansion at a lower level or who just want more power will benefit from the Scadutree fragments - rare items that increase your attack power and lower your damage taken while in the DLC. This seems like an eloquent answer to ease in players who find the game challenging enough as is. Shadows Of The Erdtree will be available June 21.
