जीसस क्राइस्ट एक महान व्यक्ति थिए र उनीले समाजलाई माया र मानवियताको शिक्षा दिए । उनले दुनियाको मानिसहरुलाई प्रेम र भाईचाराको साथ रहनलाई सन्देश दिएका थिए । यिनलाई इश्वरको एक्लो प्यारो पुत्र मान्ने गरिन्छ । त्यस समयको शासकहरुको जीससको सन्देश मन परेको थिएन उनीहरुले जीससको सूलीमा झुण्डाएर मारेका थिए । यस्तो मान्यता छ कि जीसस पुनः बाँची उठेका थिए ।

क्रिसमसको दिन इर्साई मानिस आफनो घरलाई मज्जाले सजाउँछन् । क्रिसमसको तयारीहरु पहिलेदेखि नै हुन थाल्छ । लगभग एक हप्ता सम्म छुट्टी रहन्छन् । बजारहरुको रौनक बढछ । घर र बजार रंगीन रोशनीहरुले जगमगाइ उठछन् ।

चर्चमा विशेष प्रार्थनाहरु हुन्छ । मानिस आफनो नातेदारहरु एवं मित्रहरु सँग मिल्नेउनको घर जान्छन् । सबै एक अर्कोको उपहार दिन्छन् । यस दिन आंगनमा क्रिसमस ट्री लगाउने गरिन्छ । इसलाई विशेष सजाउने गरिन्छ । यस पर्व मा केकलाई विशेष महत्व छ । मीठो, मनमोहन केक काटेर खिलानेको परम्परा धेरै पुरानो है । मानिस एक अर्कोको केक खिलाकर पर्व की बधाई दिन्छन् । सांताक्लाजको भेष लगाएर व्यक्ति बच्चाहरुको टफी उपहार आदि बाँटछन् ।

Jesus Christ ek mahana vyakti thiye ra unile samajako pyara ra maanaviyata ki siksa die. Uniharule duniyako manisharuko prema ra bhaicharako satha rahanalai sandesa diek thiye. Yinalair isvarako eklo pyaro putra manne garinchha. Tyasa samayako sasakaharuko jisasako sandesa mana pareko thiyena uniharule jisasako sulima jhuṇdaera marek thiye. Yasto manyata chha ki Jesus Christ punah banchi uthek thiye.

Christmas ko dinar isai manis aphano Gharlai majjale sajaunchhan. Christmas ko tayariharu pahile dekhi nai huna thalchha. Lagabhaga ek hapta samma chhutti rahanchhan. Bajaraharuko raunak badhachha. Ghar ra bajara raṅgina rosaniharule jagamagai uthachhan.

Church ma visesa prarthanaharu hunchha. Manis aphano natedaraharu evaṁ mitraharu sanga milneunako Ghar janchhan. Sabai ek arkoko upahara dinchhan. Yas din anganama Christmas tri lagaune garinchha. Isalai visesa sajaune garinchha. Yasa parva ma cakealai visesa mahatva chha. Mitho, manamohana cake kater khilaneko parampara dherai purano hai. Manis ek arkoko cake khilakara parva ki badhai dinchhan. Santaklajako bhesa lagaera vyakti bachchaharuko taphi upahara adi bantachhan.

Yasto bhanine garinchha ki santaklaja rsvarga bat auchha ra manisharuko manachahi chijaharu upaharako rupama diera janchha.

The Christmas Day is a public holiday in most of the countries. The Christmas Tree and Santa Claus form a part of Christmas celebration in present days, along with light, joy, gifts and fiestas.

The Europeans had been celebrated light and birth in the darkest days of Winter, even before the birth of Jesus Christ, which happens to be similar to the days which is celebrated as Christmas Day now. The end of December was the perfect time for them to celebrate, as most of the cattle were slaughtered, and they had enough wine and meat. The trend continued for centuries, till the birth of Jesus Christ was widely known, and the day actually started being celebrated as Christmas. The exact birth of Jesus Christ, however, was disputed in itself, and many of the Eastern Christians used to celebrate in January 6 th , till some evidences showed the date to be 25 th December. Only from the 3 rd Century, 25 th December became the date for the Christians to celebrate the day as Christmas, which continues till now. The ways to celebrate the festival in Europe was widely changed in the 17 th century AD, when several invasions took place. In USA, the Christmas was not much popular till the 19 th century.

People in the ancient days believed that the plants or trees which remain evergreen all over the year helped to keep them away from evils, ghosts, bad spirits or illness. The pine, fir, or spruce trees were most common among them, and they used to hang the evergreen bough in their doors and windows. The trend continued to develop, which was later started to called as ‘Christmas Tree’. Nowadays, several artificial Christmas Trees are manufactured and millions of Christmas Trees are sold all over the world, in the festival.

Santa Claus

The history of Santa Claus dates back to 3 rd century AD. According to the legends, in 280 AD, there was a monk called St. Nicholas, who lived in Patara, which these days lies in Turkey. He was widely admired for his pity and kindness, as he gave away all his inherited wealth and travelled across the country helping the poor and the needy. His popularity spread all over the world later, also evolving his Dutch name Sinter Klaas to Santa Claus, and now is one of the basic aspects of Christmas. Nowadays, Santa Claus is mostly dressed in red hood, along with a red Santa cap, and is believed to bring gifts to the people, and is loved mostly by the children.

Jesus Christ was the person who tried to divert people towards love and affection. The principle of Christ was "Love, even the enemies. Be kind to everyone, even if they hate you. " This festival started in the memory of Christ—the super human who was born in 1 AD in Jordan.

On Christmas Day, people pray to God. Everybody takes part in the celebration. They decorate their houses with flowers and Christmas trees. They sing special hymns (carols). They also make the churches cleaner. People, especially kin, exchange their gifts of love. They eat delicious meals. Children become much happier on this day because they receive many things from Santa Claus.

To sum up, Christmas is the symbol of love and kindness. So, it should be observed until people love people.

Christmas in nepal.

Christmas is a Christian festival. But, apart from Christian faith, the festival is celebrated as festival of lights and gift-giving by people of other faiths. Youths in particular are more excited in the time as another excuse to have fun and entertainment. People visit places, go to restaurant and hang-out to celebrate the festival season. Family festivity, like other festivals, is not seen much in Nepal on Christmas.

Most of the people in Nepal are Hindu. But, the population of people with Christian faith are increasing. There are reports that the population of Christian in Nepal may be up to 1 Million.

The shops and malls are decorated in Christmas theme in the festival time. Apart from Christmas, as the festival is closer to English new year, people celebrate it as an extension of the New Year celebration too.

This year in 2021, Christmas in Nepal is on Poush 10, 2078. The festival falls on Saturday, a holiday in Nepal. Similarly the New Year also falls on Saturday. Photo credit : Republica

The reasons Christmas is gaining popularity in Nepal are:

Government holiday – The government has been offering public holiday on the Christmas day. The government is encouraging people to celebrate the holiday. Christian Conversion – A lot of Hindu have been converted to Christianity in the recent time. That is the reason the population of Christians in Nepal is in the rise. Commercialization of the festival : This is a business opportunity for the businesses. Shopping malls feature Christmas decorations and also offer special offers for the festival. Celebrities – When celebrities share Christmas photos on social media, others follow them.

This is how Christmas is gaining popularity as a festival in Nepal.

Eid al-Fitr. Eid al-Fitr is being celebrated today on the last day of the ninth month according to the Arabian calendar, which is a lunar-based calendar. Todays’ festival Eid al-Fitr is known as Eid ul-Fitr too. The celebration depends on the sighting of the lunar crescent moon during the ninth month of the Arabic or Islamic calendar . During this festival people happily distribute alms, food, and other necessary daily objects et cetera to the poor and needy people. All the Muslims of all classes celebrate this day, and they celebrate it according to one’s capacity by consuming good food and sweets, etc.  

Eid al-Fitr- Festival of Breaking the Fast. 

Eid al-Fitr or Eid ul-Fitr also called the “Festival of Breaking the Fast”, is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide which marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan. This religious Eid is the only day in the month of Shawwal ( Shawwal is the tenth month of the lunar-based Islamic calendar). The date for the start of any lunar Hijri ( a lunar calendar consisting of 12 lunar months in a year of 354 or 355 days used to determine the proper days of Islamic holidays and rituals, as the annual period of fasting and the proper time for the Hajj, etc) month varies based on when the new moon is sighted by local religious authorities at different places, thus the day of celebration also varies by locality.

Eid al-Fitr was originally started by the Islamic prophet Muhammad. According to certain traditions, these festivals were initiated in Madina after the migration of Muhammad from Mecca. A well-known companion of the Prophet, Anas has narrated that, when the Prophet arrived in Medina, he found people celebrating two specific days in which they were entertaining themselves with recreation and enjoyment. Seeing thus, the Prophet remarked that Almighty has fixed two days of festivity and they are better than those you all are following. Therefore he told them to celebrate Eid al-Fitr and Eid al- Adha, as these were better ones for the celebration. Thus started the celebration of Eid al-Fitr as told by the Prophet himself. 

GENERAL RITUAL 

Before the end of one month of Roja fasting, the Muslim community gathers at the place of Idgah and recites Nawaz, praying to Allah for the happiness of the entire human without anyone having miserable life or suffering. After that, good wishes are exchanged by embracing each other. This festival is considered as a festival that conveys and shows the message of “Unity in diversity” to the entire human race. In order to increase brotherhood and to awaken the spirit of benevolence in everyone, during the festival as per the rule people donate food and money to those who lack them. In this way, observing Roja (Fasting) on this occasion of Eid people pray to Allah to make this world, the world of equality for everyone, and dedicate one’s life to Allah.  

Traditionally, Eid al-Fitr begins at sunset on the night of the first sighting of the crescent moon. But, if the moon is not observed immediately after the 29th day of the previous lunar month (factors being blocked by clouds or if the western sky is too bright when the moon sets), then the holiday is celebrated the next day. The date of Eid al-Fitr is always the same in the Islamic calendar, but in the Gregorian calendar, it falls approximately 11 days earlier each successive year, because the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar whereas the latter being a Solar calendar. Therefore, if the Eid falls in the first ten days of a Gregorian calendar year, there will be a second Eid in the last ten days of the same Gregorian calendar year. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated for one to three consecutive days, depending on the country. It is forbidden to fast on the Day of Eid, and specific prayers are recommended for this day. 

The Eid prayer is performed in the congregation as in open areas like fields, community centers, or mosques. The Eid prayer is followed by the sermon and then an appeal asking for Allah’s forgiveness, mercy, peace, and blessings for all living beings living across the entire world. The sermon instructs the Muslim community to perform rituals of Eid, such as the Zakat. The sermon of Eid takes place after the Eid prayer, unlike Friday prayer of each week, which comes first before prayer. After the prayers, Muslims visit their relatives, friends, and acquaintances or hold large communal celebrations in homes, community centers, or rented halls and observe the Eid al-Fitr with great zeal.  

As Islam is represented by several major branches like Sunni, Shi’a, Ibadi, Ahmadiyya, and Sufism, and as all of these branches have their own tradition of celebration of Eid al- Fitr the celebration might vary according to the branch to which one belongs.

What is Tihar?

Tihar also is known as Dipawali is one of the greatest festivals of Nepal. Not only Nepal, but it is also celebrated in Indian states. It generally falls in the month of October/November. Tihar is the second biggest festive celebration in Nepal after Dashain. It is known as Swanti among Newars and Diwali among the Madhesis community. This festival is known as the festival of lights. Lights are the prominent feature of this festival. Diyos are lit inside and outside of the house during the night. People keep their houses and surrounding very neat and clean. They decorate their house with flowers, pictures, and keep oil lamps burning at night. Moreover, different patterns and designs are also made on the floor using color, rice, sand, etc. known as Rangoli, which is regarded as the sign of welcome to Goddess Laxmi. The festival is celebrated for five days. Hence, it is known as Panchak.

The festival begins in Triyodashi of Karthik Krishna Paksha, a day is known as Kag Tihar, and ends in Dutiya of Kartik Sukla Paksha, a day is known as Bhai Tika. The first day is called the Kag Tihar. On this day, Crow or Kag is worshipped as the message carrier. Similarly on the second day known as Kukur Tihar¸people worship dogs as the protector of the houses and properties. According to the Hindu scripture, Yamaraj, the god of death is believed to have two dogs who were the guard of the Narga, the hell. So, People offer garlands, tika, and provide them food. The third day of Tihar is known as Laxmi Pooja. Goddess Laxmi is worshipped on this day.

Laxmi is regarded as the Goddess of fortune or wealth. So, in this day Cows are worshipped as an incarnation of Goddess Laxmi. They feed cows and offer garlands. It is believed that people can have a lot of wealth if Goddess Laxmi is pleased. So, Houses and surroundings are kept clean, decorations are done with garlands of Saya Patri and Makhamali. In the evening time, Goddess Laxmi is welcomed in the house by lighting different oil lamps or candles around the house so as to bring prosperity and wellbeing.

At night, the girls enjoy dancing and singing known as Bhailo. They visit houses of neighbors all night collecting amount as the tip or the charity for them. They also present the gifts along with the sweets, fruits, and other specialty food items. Those without brothers or sisters, join their relatives for the Tika.

A legend Dipawali has that the lord King of Death – Yamraj went to his sister and stayed there for five days. His sister hailed him heartily and offered a tika and garland around his neck. She provided delicious food, she wished for his peace, progress, and long life. Hence, the sisters worship the Yamraj before worshipping their brothers at Tihar. It is believed that the life span of the brothers lengthens if they worship the Yamraj. This is how it is a festival of joy and jubilation. Similarly, it is an occasion to strengthen the tie-up between brothers and sisters.

The federal budget is promising an inflation fix by Christmas, but will the RBA believe it?

The federal budget papers promise an appealing Christmas gift.

In Treasury's view, by that time inflation will have dropped below 3 per cent, into the 'target zone' the Reserve Bank has long set its sights on.

Household spending, which is now very low as households grapple with rising prices and high interest rates, will be surging up again.

And wages will still be growing comfortably faster than prices.

The sour note is an increase in unemployment, of the same magnitude as Treasury has long predicted.

But in the new year, on this view, interest rates will be ready to start falling.

For a federal government likely to be seeking re-election soon after that, it's quite the package.

But as we heard last week, it's not what the RBA thinks will happen. According to their forecasts, inflation will be closer to 4 per cent by the end of the year, and won't drop below 3 per cent until the end of 2025.

That outlook led the RBA board to adopt pessimistic tone at its last board meeting, and while it has left interest rates on hold for now, the board had a discussion about whether one more rate rise would be needed.

So why are the government and the RBA on different pages?

Well, in one sense this isn't unusual. Economic forecasts are always prone to uncertainty, and it's not unprecedented for the RBA and Treasury to have slightly different views about how things will play out.

But there's another reason. The budget expects lower inflation because of its centrepiece measure: energy bill relief, to the tune of $300 for every household in the country, and $325 for 1 million small businesses.

Just like when energy bill relief was offered in late 2022, the government's argument is that this reduces inflation, since it directly reduces energy bills.

But many economists are sceptical, arguing that this 'mechanical' reduction in inflation in the short-term would then be counteracted by higher inflation when people spend the money they have saved on their power bills on other things.

In the last year at least, cash-strapped consumers have been spending almost all of the extra money they receive.

In Treasury's view, this is not enough to make a material contribution to inflation. That view allows them to predict that the energy bill relief will cut inflation, not add to it.

Many economists are likely to dispute that view. In fact, several have done so already this week in anticipation the budget would include cost of living relief of this kind.

But perhaps the more important question is what the RBA, which is already more worried about inflation than Treasury and the government, will think.

The RBA will already have been watching with interest when the Queensland, Victorian and WA governments added a combined $9 billion to the economy in the next financial year in their recent budgets.

Now the federal government's own decisions have added another $9 billion in the next financial year. Not all of that is directly relevant to inflation. The figure includes new spending on aged care, medicines purchased under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, and new defence spending.

But if the central bank is sceptical about the budget's inflation-busting bona fides, and it gets more concerning news later this week when the latest wage and unemployment figures are released. It could tip the balance in its assessment of whether a further interest rate rise is needed, or whether rates should remain higher for longer.

That suggests it is around the RBA board table, where Treasury secretary Steven Kennedy sits, that the ultimate judgment on this budget's economic narrative will be cast.

Cohen’s testimony ties together the prosecution’s allegations that Trump broke the law by falsifying business records to reimburse Cohen and conceal the hush money payment that Cohen said he made at Trump’s direction. Trump has pleaded not guilty and denies having an affair with Daniels.

Here are some of the key takeaways from Cohen's first day on the stand:

• Cohen ties Trump to the Daniels hush money payment: Through roughly five hours of testimony Monday, Cohen walked jurors through how he worked with former National Enquirer editor David Pecker on Trump’s behalf during the 2016 campaign to kill negative stories; how he kept Trump apprised of his hush money negotiations with Keith Davidson, the attorney for Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal; and how Trump approved and was aware of how Cohen would be falsely repaid in 2017 for the Daniels payment as legal services.

On Monday, jurors heard through Cohen for the first-time evidence directly connecting Trump to those reimbursements.
• Cohen describes being Trump’s protector: As Cohen described each media story he killed and nondisclosure agreement he locked down ahead of the 2016 election, it was always in the name of protecting Trump. When it came to the settlement agreement with Daniels, Cohen said he kept control of a document revealing the identities of “David Dennison” and “Peggy Peterson” so that he could protect Trump. And he testified that he used the Essential Consultants LLC to facilitate the payment to Daniels “to protect him and to isolate him from the transaction.” Hoffinger asked Cohen whether he would sometimes bully people. Cohen confirmed he would.

Cohen is expected back in court tomorrow

Donald Trump's ex-attorney and fixer  Michael Cohen  took the stand today to testify about the  Stormy Daniels hush money payment  and Trump's  alleged involvement in the scheme .

Michael Cohen took the stand on Monday in Donald Trump’s hush money trial in New York.

When he was Trump’s personal attorney, Cohen made the $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. He landed in federal prison  over that transaction for breaking campaign finance laws. 

Through previous witnesses’ testimony, jurors have already heard plenty about Cohen. They have painted an unflattering portrait of an aggressive, impulsive and unlikeable attorney. The former “fixer,” now a critical witness , testified about the payment and Trump’s alleged involvement.

Here’s a look at what Cohen said on the stand today:

• Relationship with Trump: Cohen said he worked directly for Trump , not the general counsel's office at the Trump Organization. He said working with the press was a “portion” of his job and would sometimes call news outlets and ask them to redact or take articles down. Cohen testified that it was required for him to keep Trump updated about his work.
• On the presidential run: Cohen said Trump was worried about stories about his personal life coming out as he weighed a run for president, with Trump saying, “Just be prepared there’s going to be a lot of women coming forward,” according to Cohen. He testified that he didn’t have a formal role in the 2016 campaign, but he used his press contacts to be a surrogate .
• The doorman story: Cohen said he learned about the doorman story circulating about Trump having fathered "a love child” and testified Trump told him to “handle it.” He confirmed that the strategy was to take the story “off the market” for $30,000, and Trump was grateful it wouldn’t be published. Cohen said he went to Trump to tell him the agreement was completed , as well as to get credit for executing it. 
• Karen McDougal: He said Trump told him to make sure the story about former Playboy model Karen McDougal didn’t get released, which he believed meant acquiring it . Cohen recounted a call with Pecker and Trump about the story. When Cohen told Trump the cost of controlling the McDougal story, Cohen testified Trump said, “No problem, I’ll take care of it.” Later, David Pecker, former CEO of the National Enquirer’s parent company, spoke to Cohen and insisted on being reimbursed .
• "Access Hollywood" tape: When he learned about the video , released by the Washington Post, Cohen said he wanted to "ensure" things were being taken care of properly and that Trump would be protected . He testified that it was Melania Trump’s idea to say the language in the video “was locker room talk.” Cohen recalled thinking the tape would impact women voters.
• Stormy Daniels: When he initially told Trump about the Stormy Daniels story, Cohen testified that Trump said, “Women are going to hate me” and that it would be “a disaster for the campaign.” Cohen said his former boss told him to work with Pecker to “take care of it.” As the agreement unfolded, Cohen said he kept Trump informed on the deal with Daniels.
• Timing of Daniel’s payment: Trump wanted the situation with Daniels to be under wraps until after the election “because if I win, it will have no relevance because I'm president. And if I lose, I don't even care,” Trump said, according to Cohen.
• Making the payment: Cohen said he spoke with Trump twice to get his sign-off before making the payment to Daniels using a company he created , Essential Consultants LLC. He said he would have never gone forward to the bank without Trump’s approval. He testified he also let Trump know he signed the agreement with Daniels.
• Repayment to Cohen: Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg told Cohen he would be paid $420,000 for Daniel’s payment over 12 months . He testified that the payment series set up for future legal services was actually a reimbursement .

Donald Trump slammed Judge Juan Merchan and called the hush money trial a "scam" as he left the Manhattan courthouse on Monday.

“This is a scam, I think it’s it’s terrible thing that’s happening to democracy in this country,” Trump said. He then called the case a "rigged deal" and Merchan "conflicted." 

He went on to read comments made by his allies regarding the case.

“There’s no fraud here, there’s no crime here," Trump said.

The final moments today in the courtroom: Trump stacks his papers and Cohen nods toward jurors

Michael Cohen finished the day’s testimony by explaining how he, former Trump Org. CFO Allen Weisselberg and Donald Trump agreed to reimburse him for the $130,000 hush money payment to Stormy Daniels.

After Trump won the election, Cohen pitched Trump on a set up in which he would serve as Trump’s personal attorney for free but would be paid by companies hoping for insights on Trump.

In early January, Cohen went to Weisselberg about being reimbursed for the $130,000 payment, and Weisselberg agreed, Cohen testified. He showed Weisselberg the wire transfer document, and Weisselberg took handwritten notes calculating what Trump owed Cohen based on their conversations.

Weisselberg suggested Cohen take the money as income rather than as untaxed reimbursements, Cohen testified. "I didn’t really think about it. I just wanted to get my money back,” he said.

According to Cohen, they agreed that Trump would pay him $420,000 in all: $130,000 to reimburse him for the payment to Daniels, $50,000 to reimburse him for unrelated tech services, $180,000 to account for estimated taxes and a $60,000 bonus. The payments would be made over 12 months “as like a legal service rendered since I was then going to be given the title of personal attorney to the president,” Cohen testified.

They presented the plan to Trump, and he approved it, Cohen said. The payments were designed to look like future legal services, but they were actually reimbursement for the Daniels’ deal, he testified.

Cohen never actually put together a retainer agreement for any future work he'd do for Trump, “because I knew there was going to be no compensation,” he testified.

Court is breaking for the day

The court is breaking for the day and the jury is leaving the courtroom.

Donald Trump's ex-attorney Michael Cohen is expected to continue to be questioned by prosecutor Susan Hoffinger tomorrow.
