A really sensitive issue well made without any fuss or anything glaring ... I feel the story is really weak for a 2 hr plot Buta credit to the REAL REAL underrated SUPERSTAR of INDIAN CINEMA who don't care image like the so called fake superstars... he has stood in front making a statement... screenplay is decent as in a Malayalam movie slow paced ... but there could be some twists and turns which could have made it little more interesting

'Adrishyam' Review | Narain, Sharafudheen captivate in decent mystery drama
A missing idol, a team of police officials, a mystery woman and a kidnapping case. As a mystery drama, 'Adhrishyam' has its heart in the right place, with sufficient twists and turns to keep the audience guessing, till a point.
The pace reminds you of Tamil flicks of the same genre, but that shouldn't be surprising since 'Adrishyam' is a bilingual film, which caters to both Malayali and Tamil audiences.
Narain plays Nandakumar, a police officer who is asked by Purushothaman (Prathap Pothen), a top police official, to investigate a woman missing case. Sharafudheen (Rajkumar), a police officer from Tamil Nadu, is also part of the investigation. Simultaneously, Joju George who is an independent detective also starts a probe.
'Iraivan' review: Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara deliver a lacklustre thriller
Ponniyin Selvan 1 review: Aishwarya Rai, Jayam Ravi shine brighter in this Mani Ratnam movie
Though it looks quite promising, the film struggles to progress naturally in some areas. The hospital scene, for example, involving a rich man (John Vijay) who wants to sear a child is very dramatic, though it soon becomes the turning point in the film. Also, in some areas the loopholes were evident, like when the makers failed to establish the connection between Purushothaman and Nandakumar. This lend incompleteness to the film.
Director Zac Harris has done a decent job keeping the mystery intact, though he hasn’t been able to infuse much freshness to the plotline.
But given that, the twists in the movie are quite interesting, especially when you consider that it is Zac's first film.
The characterisation is decent, but the use of multiple characters seemed unnecessary, as it tends to be too confusing. Joju George's role remains a mystery in the film, almost to the point that his character seemed like an unnecessary presence.
Its great to see Narain, who works predominantly in Tamil cinema, back in his home turf. As usual, he exudes enough charm on screen, though his character could been given some more meat.
Sharafudhin, who is getting a couple of variety roles, does justice to his character. It's a welcome surprise to see him handling romance with so much ease.
Joju George, who is capable of emoting best with his eyes, does justice to his role. The intensity is intact.
Anandhi and Athmeeya Rajan's performances are also, but there is limited space for women characters in the plot. Ranjin Raj's music lends charm to the film, while the background score by Dawn Vincent was also good.
It is good to see filmmakers exploring surrogacy as a subject, but a careful handling of sensitive topic is needed.

Anweshippin Kandethum Movie Review: Double The Thrill, One Investigative Package
The storyline of anweshippin kandethum revolves around two separate crimes and their subsequent investigations set in kerala.
Star Cast: Tovino Thomas, Siddique, Arthana Binu, Baburaj, Pramod Velliyanad, Vineeth Thattil David
Director: Darwin Kuriakose
What’s Good: The film adeptly sustains suspense, captivating audiences from start to finish. It diverges from investigative thriller conventions by not introducing a family for Tovino, instead focusing solely on the investigation without unnecessary diversions, thereby enhancing its appeal.
What’s Bad: Specific viewers may find a lack of emotional connection to the investigating officer, a characteristic often present in films of this genre. Tovino Thomas’s character, however, lacks any personal connections such as a girlfriend, wife, or children.
Loo Break: Given the intricacies of the plot, it’s not advisable to take breaks as they may lead to missing vital information.
Watch or Not?: “Anweshippin Kandethum” is a compelling choice for enthusiasts of investigative thrillers, offering engaging narratives, talented performances, and thematic depth.
Language: Malayalam
Available On: Theatrical Release
Runtime: 2h 22m
The storyline of ‘Anweshippin Kandethum’ revolves around two separate crimes and their subsequent investigations set in Kerala . The film is organized into two discernible segments, inviting viewers into an investigation in the late 80s and a distinct investigation in the early 90s. Each segment delves into the enigmatic circumstances surrounding the deaths of young women in their early twenties, with each case presenting a unique and separate narrative.
Anweshippin Kandethum Movie Review: Script Analysis
The script propels the narrative forward, focusing on the investigation and avoiding unnecessary diversions. Jinu Abraham adeptly weaves a narrative that maintains viewer engagement from start to finish, with every scene advancing the plot. The script instills a feeling of suspense and intrigue, holding audiences captive. Furthermore, deliberately omitting extraneous subplots or distractions produces a more cohesive storytelling experience.
Although Tovino Thomas’s character lacks personal ties, the script showcases his commitment to his profession and relentless quest for justice. Each character is intricately developed, adding depth to the narrative. In sum, the script of “Anweshippin Kandethum” provides a sturdy framework for the film, propelling its storyline while effectively captivating the audience with its suspenseful storytelling.
Anweshippin Kandethum Movie Review: Star Performance
In “Anweshippin Kandethum,” Tovino Thomas delivers an exceptional performance as Anand Narayanan, portraying the character with depth and conviction. He skillfully captures the intricacies of a committed police officer navigating complex investigations, exhibiting a spectrum of emotions from resolve to vulnerability. Tovino’s portrayal effectively conveys the internal conflicts and external obstacles his character encounters, imbuing the film with authenticity and inviting viewers to empathize with Anand’s journey.
The other cast of “Anweshippin Kandethum” significantly enhances the film’s overall quality. Actor Siddique convincingly portrays a superior officer to Tovino, while Indrans delivers a commendable performance that does justice to his role despite appearing in only a few scenes. Additionally, Shammy Thilakan adds depth and subtlety to his character, further enriching the film with his performance.
Anweshippin Kandethum Movie Review: Direction, Music
Directed by Darwin Kuriakose, “Anweshippin Kandethum” is a fast-paced movie focusing on essential scenes devoid of unnecessary fillers, enhancing the overall viewing experience. The direction ensures a cohesive storytelling experience . The late 80s and early 90s are captured impeccably, with attention to detail evident in the portrayal of vehicles, clothing, and street scenes. Each scene adeptly conveys the depth of the situations depicted.
The music by Santhosh Narayanan is good, although it leans too heavily on the bass for my taste. However, other audience members enjoy it. It effectively enhances the film’s enjoyment and immerses us further in the storyline.
Anweshippin Kandethum Movie Review: Last Words
“Anweshippin Kandethum” shines as a mesmerizing police procedural, elevated by stellar acting, an enthralling plot, and masterful direction. It adds to the esteemed tradition of top-notch cop dramas in Malayalam cinema, ensuring it’s a must-watch for aficionados.

Rekha review: An intriguing thriller with an intense performance by Vincy Aloshious
Supported by an incredible script, director Jithin Issac Thomas delivers an amazing love-revenge thriller.

Jithin Thomas Issac’s Rekha is yet another love story that Indian Cinema usually loves to celebrate. Its trailer indicated intimate scenes that may make it only watchable for a set audience, at least in rural areas.
Young actor Vincy Aloshious dons the titular role of Rekha who is on a mission.
The events that led her to go on with her mission take the story to a different level which makes the movie a thriller.
Rekha can be put under the genre of a love-revenge thriller.
Content-driven movie
Rekha is set in a village in the Kasaragod district in northern Kerala. The language used has done justice to the script.
But there are possibilities for a person from another district, say Kottayam or Kollam, to understand the local language with a very different slang. However, from the viewpoint of the director, it’s a good way of filmmaking.
Love and lust are two sides of a coin. No need for any explanation of that theory. Rekha has everything, it has love-making scenes, and online chats via WhatsApp.
A key character dies and Rekha is behind the mystery of this painful incident.
Her journey from Kasargod to Kochi in search of an answer to this incident that caused her mental trauma is crucial to the plot.
Well-written characters
Certain incidents following her travel keep the film engaging. The script of the story by the director itself keeps the movie at a good pace.
Just before the interval, some of the audience may be able to predict Rekha’s doubts. Certain interactions between Rekha and Arjun justify the suspicion of the audience.

Post-interval, the film turns out to be in an investigation mode. It’s not a normal police procedure but cinematic elements and the director’s liberty have been utilised for making the movie a superb watch.
Rekha is a typical Malayalee girl aiming for a government job. She falls in love with an unemployed man named Arjun.
Her relationship with her father and how she overcomes the tragedy that struck her family are portrayed well by Vincy Aloshious. This is her career’s best performance.
Love towards her parents doesn’t stop her from finding the truth and settling it unlawfully.
Rekha develops anxiety and insomnia after the tragic incident. She even doubts her boyfriend at some point.
The director also gives hints about certain characteristics of her boyfriend who has weird behaviour.
Unni Lalu as Arjun has all the mannerisms of a lover. His character has a reference to his dad who is a womaniser.
In the story, the traits of a father are carried on by his son who has affairs with multiple women.
There are many other characters in the movie who are mostly shown in Kasargod. The unemployment issue also gets a passing mention.
The life in villages, people who doubt the relationship between men and women, the usual marriage-alliance talks for a grown-up girl, and a concerned or nagging mom are some of the factors that make Rekha realistic.

Overdose of violence
After the emergence of OTT platforms, violence and gore are being extensively showcased in films.
Rekha also has such scenes which may not be in favour of weak-hearted people.
A poster of ‘Rekha’ movie. (stonebenchers/Twitter)
The script also doesn’t give importance to the rule of law. But that’s the freedom of the filmmaker.
Revenge gets a unique format in this movie. If we saw a version of violence in 22 Female Kottayam, Rekha is not an exception; a bit gorier intact.
Cinematographer Abraham Joseph beautifully captures the scenic beauty of Kasargod and the urban life of Kochi.
The movie also has some good songs composed by The Escape Medium, Milan VS, and Nikhil V.
Rekha ends up as a good revenge thriller movie by Jithin Issac Thomas who earlier directed the critically-acclaimed Attention Please .
Vincy Aloysious’ stellar performance and the good script make Rekha an intense thriller and a must-watch.

Udal Ending Explained & Spoilers: How Did the Malayalam Movie End?
- Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below
Udal is a gripping Malayalam thriller directed by Ratheesh Reghunandhan that offers a fresh perspective on the noir fiction genre. Set in the backdrop of a typical Malayalam household, the film stars Indrans, Durga Krishna , and Dhyan Sreenivasan in pivotal roles. The film’s unique approach to storytelling and character development sets it apart, making it a notable entry in Malayalam cinema.
The plot is centered around Shiny, a housewife and mother who finds herself trapped in a life of monotony and dissatisfaction at her father-in-law’s home. Indrans plays the father-in-law, Kuttichayan, an endearing character who becomes a central figure as the story unfolds.
Shiny’s desire for freedom and excitement leads her into an affair with her boyfriend, played by Dhyan Sreenivasan. The dynamics of this relationship and Shiny’s actions drive the narrative, leading to a series of unexpected and thrilling events.
Why was Shiny so unhappy?
The story unfolds during the COVID-19 lockdown, where Shiny finds herself confined to her husband’s home. Once a working professional, she had resigned from her job post-marriage. She now faces the daunting task of caring for her ailing mother-in-law. The constant departure of home nurses adds to her burden, making her feel increasingly suffocated in her daily life. This backdrop sets the stage for the events that unfold in Udal.
Shiny’s only solace comes in the form of an extramarital affair with her college junior, Kiran. He becomes her confidant, sharing her frustrations and dreams of a different life. One fateful night, Shiny and Kiran hatch a plan to break free from her oppressive circumstances. However, their plan spirals out of control. The following scenes lead to a series of unexpected and traumatic events that form the crux of Udal.
Director Ratheesh Reghunandan does not seek to justify Shiny’s actions but instead provides a window into the series of events that transform her into a remorseless individual, desperate to escape her life’s constraints. The film takes a dramatic turn when the character of Kuttichayan, played by Indrans, evolves from a soft-spoken father-in-law into a figure of retribution and violence. This transformation is a pivotal moment in the film, marking a shift from domestic drama to a tense, psychological thriller.
The battle that ensues between Shiny and Kuttichayan is a gripping portrayal of familial conflict taken to its extreme. The audience, expecting a conventional narrative, is instead drawn into a silent awe as the intense confrontation between the daughter-in-law and father-in-law unfolds. The film skillfully navigates the fine line between moral ambiguity and the stark realities of its characters’ choices.
Udal ending explained: What happened in the end?
Udal concludes with a powerful and thought-provoking ending. Shiny’s character, while initially unapologetic and relentless, shows brief moments of remorse, adding complexity to her role. Her actions and decisions leave a lasting impact on the audience, raising questions about morality, choice, and consequence.
In summary, Udal is a film that combines elements of noir fiction with Malayalam sensibilities to create a unique and thrilling cinematic experience. The performances of Indrans, Durga Krishna, and Dhyan Sreenivasan are commendable, each bringing depth and nuance to their roles.
Ratheesh Reghunandhan’s direction elevates the film, making it a significant contribution to Malayalam cinema and a must-watch for fans of the thriller genre.

‘Atlas’ Review: Jennifer Lopez’ Exo-Suit Fits Uncomfortably in This Shrug-Worthy Sci-Fi Vehicle
Director Brad Peyton ("San Andreas") fails to zhuzh up this clearinghouse of AI-doomsday ideas into an adventure worth investing in.

- ‘Atlas’ Review: Jennifer Lopez’ Exo-Suit Fits Uncomfortably in This Shrug-Worthy Sci-Fi Vehicle 1 week ago
Arriving on the heels of “The Greatest Love Story Never Told” — a true milestone of superstar transparency where Jennifer Lopez expressed a clear-eyed view of her current career status — “ Atlas ” feels like an underwhelming return to the kind of projects that have maintained Lopez’ place in the Hollywood firmament, but not the ones that catapulted her there in the first place.
Popular on Variety
Atlas identifies Harlan’s location on a remote planet “in the Andromeda Galaxy,” and insists on joining the team dispatched to apprehend him despite the trepidation of the operation’s commanding officer, Colonel Elias Banks ( Sterling K. Brown ). Even so, she refuses to use one of the exo-suits assigned to each soldier because operating it requires a neural bond between man and machine. But upon arrival at GR-39 the ICN forces quickly discover that they’ve been led into a trap, and Harlan immediately destroys most of their ships and equipment.
Directed by Peyton, “Atlas” shuffles nimbly through operatic visuals to tell what on the page must have seemed like an irresistibly intimate story of personal redemption. Unfortunately, a script by Leo Sardarian and Aron Eli Coleite (the latter a writer on Peyton’s Netflix series “Daybreak”) reduces too much of that eminently relatable growth to perfunctory, even cliched character pivots that audiences will identify long before they occur. It doesn’t help that the characters themselves verbalize many of the dynamics on which the plot dynamics hinge (just scenes after detailing a laundry list of reasons why Atlas is exactly wrong for their operation, Banks immediately insists to his superior officer that she should join them on the trek to GR-39), but film history is far too filled with hate-at-first-sight partnerships for viewers not to anticipate the begrudging respect, and even affection, that Atlas develops for her AI counterpart.
Moreover, the exo-suit, its “personality” and the film’s overall meditation on artificial intelligence feels fully cobbled together from the parts of too many earlier films to count. The machinery of Atlas’ life-saving exo-suit looks no different from the AMP (Amplified Mobility Platform) suits in James Cameron’s “Avatar,” itself a descendant of the power loader in Cameron’s “Aliens.” Smith sounds more than a bit like Baymax, the overprotective healthcare robot in Don Hall and Chris Williams’ “Big Hero 6,” except with the ability to swear and deploy sarcasm in mimicry of Atlas’ disgruntled disposition. Meanwhile, Harlan physically embodies the same fears about technology that have been explored on film for decades, sadly without new insights. John Connor was 11 in “Terminator 2” when he identified that mankind’s inclination was to destroy itself; Harlan hardly needed artificial intelligence to arrive at the same conclusion, but his intentions to extinguish Earth’s populations are meant to be a pre-emptive act.
Playing the film’s villain, Liu glowers with a level of menace that betrays the technology’s conclusive (if over-reaching) impartiality; Harlan’s opposition to humanity’s continued existence would be better served by an air of chilling detachment. The gifted actor’s breakthrough came only four years ago with “Shang-Chi,” but it’s clear that the industry hasn’t yet figured out what to do with him (notwithstanding a scene-stealing turn in “Barbie,” he made more of an impression playing Pat Dubak’s boyfriend on “The Other Two” than he does here). As too often happens with both Strong and Brown, they make phoning it in seem almost believable, but they’re hamstrung with dialogue that, again, could have been written for any of a dozen similar features.
Even on a generic sci-fi adventure like this, that sensation comes as a disappointment, precisely because of the candor Lopez showed in those documentaries, where she recognized that the world isn’t yearning for new material from her like it once was. One might think that would lead her to take more risks — strike-outs are more respectable when they follow big swings. But “Atlas” is predictable, overlong and bland, the kind of experience it’s hard to get excited about when the star player seems to be perfunctorily running the bases.
