University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka (UGC) and Griffith University have established a joint funding program to allow up to twelve suitably qualified, UGC supported candidates to enrol in the Doctor of Philosophy program at Griffith University each year.
Griffith will provide tuition fee scholarships to cover the full cost of tuition for up to 36 months.
UGC will provide a living allowance and cover Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for up to 36 months.
If required, Griffith will consider providing an additional six months tuition scholarship and living allowance scholarship to enable candidates to complete the degree. These requests will be considered on a case by case basis and will be subject to the satisfactory completion of the Thesis and Candidature Review milestone .
Applicants must meet candidate eligibility requirements as prescribed by Griffith in accordance with their rules and policies.
Applicants must fulfil all relevant academic entry requirements , including the prescribed level of English language proficiency for PhD admission at Griffith University.
Applicants are required to hold a bachelor degree with first-class honours or second-class honours (Division A), or a masters degree incorporating a significant research component, from a recognised institution; or equivalent.
Applicants must also meet the selection criteria set out by UGC.
Visit the UGC research grants page for application guidelines, and to apply for a UGC research grant in the first instance. Applicants nominated by UGC will then be required to apply for admission to Griffith University .
Griffith will assess all applications in accordance with PhD admission requirements , including academic performance and English language proficiency.
The final selection decision will be made by Griffith.
