Introduction

Are you an Apple Watch enthusiast and a Verizon customer looking to add your Apple Watch to your Verizon plan? Well, you’ve come to the right place! Adding your Apple Watch to your Verizon plan allows you to stay connected even when you’re away from your iPhone. With a variety of innovative features and the convenience of cellular connectivity, your Apple Watch will be your ultimate companion for fitness tracking, receiving notifications, making calls, and more.

In this guide, we will walk you through the step-by-step process of adding your Apple Watch to your Verizon plan. Whether you’re a tech-savvy individual or new to the world of smartwatches, we’ve got you covered. From checking device compatibility to activating your Apple Watch and pairing it with your iPhone, we’ll provide all the information you need to seamlessly integrate your Apple Watch into your Verizon plan.

But before we dive into the steps, it’s important to note that not all Apple Watch models are compatible with Verizon’s network. So, let’s start by checking the compatibility of your device.

Note: The information in this article is specific to Verizon and Apple Watch Series 3 and later. If you’re using a different carrier or an earlier Apple Watch model, the steps may vary.

Step 1: Check Device Compatibility

Before adding your Apple Watch to your Verizon plan, it’s essential to make sure that your device is compatible with Verizon’s network. Not all Apple Watch models have cellular capabilities, so it’s important to check if your specific model supports this feature.

Here’s how you can check the compatibility of your Apple Watch:

  • Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  • Navigate to the “My Watch” tab.
  • Select “General” and then tap on “About”.
  • Look for the “Model” field. If the model number starts with “A1860,” “A1861,” “A1891,” “A1892,” “A1975,” “A1976,” “A2007,” “A2008,” “A2092,” “A2093,” “A2094,” “A2156,” “A2157,” “A2176,” or “A2178,” your Apple Watch is compatible with Verizon’s network.

If your Apple Watch is compatible, congratulations! You can proceed to the next step. However, if your Apple Watch model is not compatible with Verizon, you may need to consider upgrading your watch to a supported model or reach out to Verizon for further assistance.

Once you’ve confirmed the compatibility of your device, it’s time to purchase your Apple Watch if you haven’t done so already. You can purchase an Apple Watch from various sources, including Apple’s official website, authorized retailers, and Verizon’s online store. Ensure that you select a model that supports cellular connectivity to enjoy the full benefits of adding it to your Verizon plan.

Note: Verizon offers both outright purchase and installment plans for Apple Watches. Choose the option that suits your needs and budget.

Step 2: Purchase an Apple Watch

Now that you’ve confirmed the compatibility of your device, it’s time to purchase an Apple Watch. There are several options available for purchasing an Apple Watch, including directly from the Apple website, Apple retail stores, authorized resellers, or through Verizon’s online store.

Here are a few things to consider when purchasing your Apple Watch:

  • Choose the right Apple Watch model: Apple offers a range of models, including the Apple Watch Series 6, SE, and Series 3. Consider your budget and the features you desire to select the ideal model for you.
  • Decide on the case material: Apple Watch cases are available in aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium options. Each material has its own unique style and durability, so choose the one that best fits your preferences.
  • Consider the band options: Apple Watch bands come in various styles and materials, such as silicone, leather, and stainless steel. Pick a band that suits your taste and lifestyle.
  • Choose the size and display: Apple Watches come in 40mm and 44mm sizes, allowing you to select the one that fits your wrist comfortably. Additionally, consider whether you prefer the standard Retina display or the Always-On Retina display.

Once you’ve decided on the details, you can make your purchase and await the delivery of your Apple Watch.

If you’ve chosen to purchase your Apple Watch from Verizon’s online store, you will have the option to pay upfront or select installment plans to spread out the cost over a specified period.

After your Apple Watch arrives, ensure that it is fully charged before proceeding to the next step. This will ensure a smooth setup process once you activate the device.

With your Apple Watch in hand, you’re one step closer to adding it to your Verizon plan. The next step involves checking your eligibility for adding the Apple Watch to your existing Verizon plan, so let’s move on!

Step 3: Check Eligibility for Adding Apple Watch to Verizon Plan

Before you can add your Apple Watch to your Verizon plan, it’s important to check your eligibility. This step ensures that you meet the necessary requirements and have the right plan to support the addition of your Apple Watch.

Here’s how you can check your eligibility:

  • Visit the Verizon Wireless website or open the My Verizon app on your smartphone.
  • Log in to your Verizon account using your credentials.
  • Navigate to the “Plans & Devices” section.
  • Click on “Add Devices.” If you don’t see this option, look for an “Upgrade” or “Change Device” option.
  • Follow the prompts to select your current wireless plan and browse the available devices for adding to your plan.
  • Look for the Apple Watch options and select the one that matches your watch model, size, and desired connectivity (GPS-only or GPS + Cellular).

The eligibility check will ensure that your plan allows for the addition of an Apple Watch. If you encounter any issues or do not see the Apple Watch options, it’s best to reach out to Verizon’s customer support for further assistance. They will guide you through the process and help you find the best solution based on your specific plan and needs.

It’s worth noting that adding an Apple Watch to your Verizon plan typically requires an additional monthly fee. This fee covers the cellular connectivity and services provided to your Apple Watch, allowing it to function independently from your iPhone.

Once you have confirmed your eligibility and made any necessary adjustments to your plan, you’re ready to move on to the activation process. In the next step, we will guide you through activating your Apple Watch on Verizon’s network.

Step 4: Activate your Apple Watch

After checking your eligibility, it’s time to activate your Apple Watch on Verizon’s network. Activating your watch will enable it to connect to the cellular network and access the features and services provided by Verizon.

Follow these steps to activate your Apple Watch:

  • Ensure that your iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network.
  • Place your Apple Watch on its charger.
  • Turn on your Apple Watch by pressing and holding the side button until the Apple logo appears.
  • On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
  • Tap on the “Start Pairing” option when prompted.
  • Align your iPhone’s camera with the animated pattern displayed on your Apple Watch’s screen.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone.
  • During the pairing process, you will be asked to set up a passcode for your watch, enable wrist detection, and create an Apple Watch backup.

Once the pairing process is complete, your Apple Watch is now successfully activated and linked to your iPhone. However, it may take a few moments for the watch to connect to Verizon’s cellular network.

Now that your Apple Watch is activated, it’s time to proceed to the next step and set up cellular service on your watch, allowing you to use it independently without your iPhone nearby.

Note: If you encounter any difficulties during the activation process, ensure that both your iPhone and Apple Watch have the latest software updates. Additionally, verify that you have a stable internet connection and that your Verizon account is in good standing.

Step 5: Set up Cellular Service on your Apple Watch

Now that your Apple Watch is activated, it’s time to set up cellular service on your watch. This will allow your Apple Watch to make calls, send messages, and access data even when it’s not connected to your iPhone or a Wi-Fi network .

Follow these steps to set up cellular service on your Apple Watch:

  • Tap on the “Cellular” option.
  • Follow the prompts to set up cellular service on your Apple Watch.
  • If a QR code is provided, use your iPhone’s camera to scan the QR code displayed on your Apple Watch.
  • If no QR code is provided or scanning fails, you can manually add your Apple Watch by entering its details. You may need to provide the IMEI or MEID number, which can be found on the Apple Watch packaging or in the Apple Watch app.
  • Review the terms and conditions of adding cellular service and agree to them.
  • Choose a Verizon plan for your Apple Watch. The available plans will be displayed, including pricing and data options.
  • Once you’ve selected a plan, confirm the activation of cellular service by following the on-screen prompts.

After completing these steps, your Apple Watch will be connected to Verizon’s cellular network. You will be able to make and receive calls, send and receive messages, stream music, and utilize other cellular-enabled features on your watch, even if your iPhone is not nearby.

Remember that cellular service for your Apple Watch is an additional charge on top of your existing Verizon plan. The cost of the service may vary depending on the plan you choose and any promotions or discounts available at the time of activation.

With cellular service set up on your Apple Watch, you’re now ready to pair it with your iPhone and fully enjoy its features and capabilities.

Step 6: Pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone

Now that you have activated cellular service on your Apple Watch, it’s time to pair it with your iPhone to synchronize your data and make the most out of its features. Pairing your Apple Watch with your iPhone will allow you to receive notifications, track fitness metrics, and seamlessly transition between devices.

Follow these steps to pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone:

  • Ensure that your Apple Watch and iPhone are both charged and turned on.
  • Place your Apple Watch and iPhone close together.
  • Tap on the “Start Pairing” option.
  • By using your iPhone’s camera, align it with the Apple Watch’s screen until a message appears confirming the pairing.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your watch, including preferences for language, wrist orientation, and privacy settings.
  • Choose whether to set up your watch as new or restore it from a backup. If you have previously backed up your Apple Watch data, you can restore it at this point.
  • Create a passcode for your Apple Watch. This passcode will be used to secure your watch and authorize app installations.
  • Enable or disable features such as Siri, Location Services, and Diagnostics based on your preferences.
  • Sign in with your Apple ID to sync your apps, contacts, and other data with your Apple Watch.

Once the pairing process is complete, your Apple Watch is now successfully synchronized with your iPhone. Any changes or updates made on either device will automatically reflect on the other, ensuring a seamless integration between the two devices.

Now, you can explore the various features of your Apple Watch, customize watch faces, install apps, and enjoy the convenience of having important notifications delivered directly to your wrist.

If you encounter any issues during the pairing process, ensure that both your Apple Watch and iPhone have the latest software updates installed. Additionally, make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone and that it is in close proximity to your Apple Watch.

With your Apple Watch paired and connected to your iPhone, you’re ready to enjoy the full benefits of your Apple Watch on Verizon’s network. Take a moment to explore its features and functionalities to make the most out of your smartwatch experience.

add apple watch to verizon business plan

If you were thinking of adding a new Apple Watch (or any other LTE-ready smartwatch with a dedicated phone number) to your Verizon account, you’ll probably like to hear that the carrier just cut the monthly cost of doing that by half. It’s normally $20 to add a watch if you don’t already have a phone on your account, though it will now costs $10 per month per watch for all standalone plans. Pricing for subscribers who have both a phone and a watch on their accounts is unchanged.

This is welcome news considering Apple debuted two new Apple Watch models today: the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE , both of which have an LTE option. The most affordable Series 6 with LTE costs $499 ($399 without LTE), but the real bargain is the Apple Watch SE with LTE, which costs $329 (just $50 more than its price without LTE). Both models are available for preorder now and will be available this Friday.

  • Here’s how to pick between the Apple Watch Series 6, SE, and older models

If you’d like to buy Apple Watches for your whole family, this news will be even better. Apple showed off the Family Setup feature that lets you set up and manage multiple Apple Watches with just a single iPhone . Before, you needed an iPhone paired to each smartwatch.

The caveat here is that each of these Apple Watches connected through the iPhone via Family Setup needs to be an LTE model, not the cheaper GPS model. (It supports as far back as the Apple Watch Series 4.) But if you’re someone who wants to load up on Apple Watches for your family, paying for them each month will be a little more affordable at Verizon.

Updated 10:12AM ET, September 17th : We reached out to Verizon for clarification on the price cuts after several readers claimed to already be getting these prices. A spokesperson specified that its standalone watch plans (without the need for a phone) have been reduced from $20 to $10. As readers have noted in the comments, the pricing has been at $10 per month for smartwatches (and sometimes cheaper), though it’s only been possible to get that pricing if you also have a phone on your plan.

Set up and use cellular service on Apple Watch

With Apple Watch with cellular and a cellular connection to the same carrier used by your iPhone, you can make calls, reply to messages, use Walkie-Talkie, stream music and podcasts, receive notifications, and more, even when you don’t have your iPhone or a Wi-Fi connection.

Note: Cellular service not available in all areas or with all carriers.

Add Apple Watch to your cellular plan

You can activate cellular service on your Apple Watch by following the instructions during the initial setup. To activate service later, follow these steps:

Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.

Tap My Watch, then tap Cellular.

Follow the instructions to learn more about your carrier service plan and activate cellular for your Apple Watch with cellular . See the Apple Support article Set up cellular on your Apple Watch .

Transfer an existing cellular plan to a new Apple Watch

You can transfer your existing cellular plan from your Apple Watch with cellular to another Apple Watch with cellular by following these steps:

While wearing your Apple Watch, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.

the Info button

Tap Remove [ name of carrier ] Plan, then confirm your choice.

You may need to contact your carrier to remove this Apple Watch from your cellular plan.

Remove your old watch, put on your other Apple Watch with cellular, tap My Watch, then tap Cellular.

Follow the instructions to activate your watch for cellular.

Turn cellular off or on

Your Apple Watch with cellular uses the best network connection available to it—your iPhone when itʼs nearby, a Wi-Fi network that you’ve connected to previously on your iPhone, or a cellular connection. You can turn cellular off—to save battery power, for example. Just follow these steps:

Press the side button to open Control Center.

the Cellular button

The Cellular button turns green when your Apple Watch has a cellular connection and your iPhone isn’t nearby.

Note: Turning on cellular for extended periods uses more battery power (see the Apple Watch General Battery Information website for more information). Also, some apps may not update without a connection to your iPhone.

Check cellular signal strength

Try one of the following when connected to a cellular network:

Use the Explorer watch face , which uses green dots to show cellular signal strength. Four dots is a good connection. One dot is poor.

Open Control Center. The green bars at the top show the cellular connection status.

Add the Cellular complication to the watch face .

Check cellular data usage

How Much Is a Cellular Plan for an Apple Watch?

The monthly cost for an Apple Watch cellular plan varies depending on the carrier and your location. The price tends to range between  $10-20/month to add cellular to your Apple Watch . As long as that sounds worth it for you and your budget, it’s incredible to have a cellular Apple Watch that can go iPhone-free. So, how much does a cellular data cost specifically? Find out below!

AT&T Apple Watch Plan

The  AT&T Apple Watch cellular plan is quite simple: $10.99/month plus AT&T Administrative & Regulatory Cost Recovery Fees which should be about $3.49. This brings the total to about $14.48 per month. There is also a one-time activation fee of $35.00.

C Spire Apple Watch Plan

The  C Spire Apple Watch cellular plan is $20 per month, with a $25 one-time activation fee.

T-Mobile Apple Watch Plan

Depending on the plan you select, a  T-Mobile Apple Watch cellular plan  costs either $10 or $15 per month to add your Apple Watch cellular option to your iPhone's plan. A one-time $35 activation applies.

U.S. Cellular Apple Watch Plan

A  U.S. Cellular Apple Watch cellular plan doesn't require an iPhone to be connected as well, and costs $10 per month.

Xfinity Wireless Apple Watch Plan

Family Setup isn't supported by Xfinity Mobile, but the  Xfinity Apple Watch cellular plan in only $10 per month.

Once you get set up with a carrier, your cellular Apple Watch will have its own phone number for billing purposes. Learn  how to find your Apple Watch phone number .

Family Setup

Another thing to consider when trying to decide the best Apple Watch data plan for you and your family is Apple's Family Setup. Starting with watchOS 7, you can pair other users' Apple Watches with your iPhone in what Apple is calling Family Setup. This means members of a household or family can have their own cellular Apple Watches while connecting to one iPhone, and, therefore, one cellular plan. Besides being a great way to save on monthly costs, this also allows parents to monitor their children's Apple Watch use and even location, offering new ways to keep children safe in a world of increased technology. The carriers with Family Setup support are:

  • US Cellular
  • Verizon Wireless

By now you've probably settled on an Apple Watch cellular service provider as well as an Apple Watch cellular plan! To explore more features of your Apple Watch, be sure to find out  how accurate are Apple Watch calories , as well as our guide to Apple Watch icons .

  • How much does cheapest data plan for a cellular Apple Watch cost?  The lowest Apple Watch cellular plan cost at this time is from US Cellular, because you can get a $10/month plan without the requirement of a connected iPhone.
  • Can you still text on an Apple Watch without cellular service?  Yes, but only if your iPhone is connected, within range, and has service. Without a cellular plan of its own, your Apple Watch is essentially a wearable extension of your iPhone and only has service through it.
  • What’s the difference between Apple Watch GPS vs cellular ?  A cellular Apple Watch can call, text, and use data without a synced iPhone nearby; its cellular service makes it like a mini wearable iPhone. An Apple Watch with only GPS relies on your iPhone and sometimes an internet connection.
  • Can you use an Apple Watch cellular without a cellular plan?  An Apple Watch with cellular doesn't have to have a cellular plan; they can use data and cell service from your iPhone. If you don't intend to use cellular with your Apple Watch, though, it makes sense to go with the cheaper Apple Watch GPS.
  • Can you use an Apple Watch without iPhone ?  Without your iPhone nearby, functionality will be quite limited unless you have an Apple Watch with a cellular plan. Apple has a great resource to explain the things you can and can't do on your Apple Watch without a cellular connection, Wi-Fi, or your iPhone paired.

How To Add Apple Watch To Verizon Plan? Keep Your Watch Synced

After I got an Apple Watch which had cellular enabled, and decided to listen to music through it during my morning gym routine.

It was a pretty convenient feature to have since I didn’t want to keep my distracting phone with me during my workout.

But doing that needed the watch to be added to a cellular plan that had data access.

I have an iPhone from Verizon, so I was wondering if I could add my Apple Watch to my Verizon plan to make cellular features accessible.

I had heard of extra fees that I might need to pay to do this, though, so I needed some clarification.

Adding your Apple Watch to your Verizon app is pretty straightforward as long as you have an iPhone with an active Verizon plan.

To add an Apple Watch to your Verizon plan, you must first pair your iPhone and Apple Watch by launching the Apple Watch app and tapping “Set Up Cellular.” Tap Set-Up WiFi calling and wait for the syncing to be completed, then tap Continue.

Adding an Apple Watch to your Verizon Plan

add apple watch to verizon business plan

The steps to add an Apple Watch to your Verizon plan are very straightforward. But first, ensure your iPhone and Apple Watch are already paired.

Also, connect your iPhone to the Verizon network and turn on the Bluetooth.

Here are the steps to adding an Apple Watch to your Verizon plan:

  • Open the Apple Watch application on your iPhone.
  • On the My Watch tab, click “Cellular.”
  • Tap “Set Up Cellular.”
  • Enter your username and password to sign in to My Verizon and tap Continue.
  • If asked, tap “Set up WiFi calling.”
  • Enter your 911 address and click Continue when the syncing is complete.
  • Click OK to complete the activation on the “Device Added” screen.

You should add your Apple Watch to your Verizon plan by now.

You will be charged a device activation fee of $35 to activate your Apple Watch.

This is a standard procedure for any device you activate with Verizon and will appear on your next bill.

You can go down to your local Verizon store to add your Apple Watch to your Verizon plan, but you really don’t need to since the process is really simple.

But you can go to a store if you have any issues with adding the watch, or just can’t be bothered with going through the steps on your own.

Pricing for Apple Watch on Verizon

add apple watch to verizon business plan

If you still haven’t purchased an Apple Watch but are planning to, you might consider getting it from Verizon.

Verizon’s online store has Apple watches as well alongside smartphones, tablets, and other accessories.

The Apple Watch Series 8 is available at $499, as well as the new Watch Ultra, which retails at $800.

You can also get these watches over a device payment plan.

How Many Apple Watches Can I Have on Verizon?

add apple watch to verizon business plan

With any plan allowing multiple lines of service, Verizon allows you to add up to ten phones (smart or basic) to your Verizon mobile account. You can also have up to 30 devices per account.

That means that if you have 10 phone lines, you can have up to 20 connected devices, such as tablets and smartwatches.

Just take note that if you are subscribed to an unlimited monthly phone plan, each connected device must have its data plan, while if you are subscribed to a shared monthly phone plan, the connected devices can share that data allowance.

Adding an Apple Watch to A Verizon Business Plan

In some cases, you can add an Apple Watch to a Verizon Business Plan, but it depends on the plan and how the  business account is set up.

Everything is up to the account administrator, who needs to contact Verizon to configure business accounts for Apple watches and other accessories.

So if you want to connect your Apple Watch to your company phone that is on Verizon, contact your administrator at work for more information.

It Doesn’t Matter Where You Get The Apple Watch From

You can add an Apple Watch to your current Verizon plan in a few simple steps, which can be done during the initial setup and pairing with your iPhone.

Once added, the Apple Watch is already activated, and an activation fee applies.

A monthly fee is also charged as the Apple Watch and iPhone will share the same number.

You can turn off your cellular data and use your Apple Watch in GPS mode to avoid this fee.

Some business plans allow the addition of an Apple Watch to an account, while it is not allowed for prepaid mobile phone numbers.

If you have further questions or concerns about adding Apple Watch to Verizon, you can contact Verizon customer service and speak with a live agent.

If you own an Apple Watch that you bought from another carrier, you can use it on the Verizon network as long as your Apple Watch is correctly linked to your iPhone.

Since the iPhone is currently on Verizon, the plan on the watch will change when you add it to your Verizon plan.

You will need to pay a $10 line access fee every month and a one time activation fee of $35 when you add the watch to your plan, though.

Stream on! NBCUniversal’s Peacock and YouTube Premium are the two newest streaming options Verizon is pitching to wireless customers. The carrier continues to build on its strategy of using special promos on content services to generate incremental revenue — and, ideally, boost customer loyalty.

Popular on Variety

Current myPlan perks do give Verizon wireless customers discounts on a Netflix-Max with ads bundle for $10/month (a 40% savings) and a Disney bundle of Disney+ (no ads), Hulu (with ads) and ESPN+ for $10/month (which is 33% less than a package Disney offers that includes Disney+ with ads). In addition, Verizon is currently offering six months of the Disney bundle for no extra charge to customers who switch to either the Unlimited Plus or Unlimited Ultimate plan.

Under such reseller deals, Verizon typically pays a per-subscriber wholesale rate to its partners. To date, Verizon has signed up 13 million video subscribers overall, according to Frank Boulben, chief revenue officer for Verizon Consumer Group.

Other subscription add-ons available through Verizon’s myPlan for $10/month each are: Apple One (Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Arcade and iCloud+), Apple Music Family, Walmart+ (which includes Paramount+), 100 gigabytes/month of mobile hotspot data, and unlimited cloud storage.

Also Tuesday, Verizon announced the Ultimate Phone Upgrade program, which gives customers on the Unlimited Ultimate wireless plan its best phone and device promos when they trade in an older one.
