Times Tables Learning

Once you have understood what multiplication is, you are then ready to start learning your tables.

One of the best ways to learn their tables is to follow these simple steps:

  • First, write down the times table you want to learn. This is useful to see what the times table looks like. Study it and use your noticing skills, look for patterns...visual learning.
  • Next, read it aloud - sing or chant the table. This is the auditory learning - not only have you spoken the table but you have also heard it.
  • Repeat, repeat and repeat some more - repetition is the key to learning tables (or other facts). The more you say the table aloud, the more you will learn it like you learn word to a song.
  • Next, see how good your recall is by trying a practice sheet, or getting someone to test you. You should aim to be able to answer a times table question almost instantly - certainly within about 5 seconds!
  • If your recall of the table is up to scratch, then move on to your next table - but keep practicing regularly to keep it in your mind! Otherwise your brain will quickly forget it.
  • Need more practice? Go back and repeat some of the previous steps.

Once you are confident in a range of tables, try doing some tables challenges... there are plenty for you to try at the Math Salamanders!

Hopefully before long, your times table knowledge will be secure in your head and you will have it at your fingertips to use when you need it!

6 Times Table

Welcome to the 2nd Grade Math Salamanders 6 Times Table Worksheets. Here you will find our selection of free multiplication worksheets to help your child learn their multiplication table.

Multiplication is introduced as a concept around Grade 2.

Unlike addition and subtracting, multiplication is a concept that does not come naturally to many children. Quite a lot of time may need to be dedicated in developing children's understanding of what multiplcation is and how it works. Time spent doing this is time well spent, so that children become more confident with their understanding of multiplication before they continue their journey into the multiplication table and solving multiplication problems.

The multiplication learning in 2nd Grade underpins future learning of the multiplication table, and the standard multiplication algorithm learnt in future grades.

During 2nd grade, children should be learning the following multiplication skills:

  • understand what multiplication is and how it works;
  • know the multiplication table to 5x5;
  • solve simple multiplication problems.

Multiplication Facts - 6 Times Table

The following worksheets are all about learning and consolidating multiplication facts and counting up by 6s.

The sheets in this section are at a similar level of difficulty from each other.

I’m thrilled to introduce a “6 Times Table Printable Packet” created with love and dedication right here at The Simple Homeschooler!

Teaching multiplication can be a real adventure – ups and downs – but I believe it should be as fun and straightforward as possible.

That’s why I’ve designed this packet with a focus on simplicity, clarity, and, most importantly, the needs of your young learners.

In this article, you’ll find horizontal problems, vertical problems, missing numbers, and identifying the multiples of 6.

Whether you’re a homeschooling parent or a classroom teacher, we’re here to provide you with the tools you need to inspire and teach your students.

So, let’s get going and discover how this free worksheet packet can transform multiplication learning into a simple and confident-building experience!

****Don’t stress! You can easily download and print your paper copy of this 6 times table worksheets PDF. There are *super simple* directions at the bottom of the page. No email address or other personal data is required 🙂

Check Out Your 6 Times Table Multiplication Worksheets!

6 Times Table Printable - 1

This first worksheet will have your kid zooming through the 6 multiplication facts!

They go in order from 6 x 2 to 6 x 12 to show the progression of skip counting by 6.

To complete, have the student solve each problem and write their answer on the flame coming out of the rocket.

But what if my kid isn’t ready to answer some of the problems?

This particular worksheet is a great way to show kids that they can use their addition skills to solve multiplication problems they are struggling with!

Let’s say your kid struggles with 6 x 7. Ask the child what the answer to the previous number (6 x 6) is, and then have them add 6 on to that.

I still do that for some facts I am rusty on!

6 Times Table Printable - 3

This next sheet has all the 6 facts out of order.

If your child is confident in their facts, they may be able to zoom right through the worksheet. But, if your student feels overwhelmed looking at this sheet, show them that the easiest way to start is to scan for facts that they know.

So point them to 6 x 1 then work their way up from there to 6 x 2, 6 x 3, and so on.

Regularly remind your student that the multiplication symbol means “groups of.” So 6 x 9 means “6 groups of 9” or “9 groups of 6.”

These problems can be solved by using manipulatives to make the actual groups (the best way for kids who need concrete learning) or by showing the kids to add on from the facts that they already know solidly.

6 Times Table Printable - 4

Here your student will be working on solving 6 times facts in vertical format.

To complete, show the child that they must write their answers on the horizontal line below each problem.

Remind the student that the numbers can be inverted and they will still get the same answer.

At this point you may be noticing that some problems are more difficult for your child than others.

Maybe when he see 6 x 12, your child immediately starts to freeze up.  Take some time to take note of these facts.

Further down the page, you will find some helpful learning tips to help your child conquer them!

But in the meantime, remain positive and encourage your child.

Don’t say things like, “Oh, I know you always struggle with that fact,” or “That one is so hard for you.”

Focus on saying things like, “Don’t let that fact get the best of you, (child’s name). Give it your very best!” And then reinforce the strategies you’ve taught them to remember (or figure out) multiplication facts.

6 Times Table Printable - 2

This worksheet is a great way to dig deeper into the 6 times table facts!

To complete, the student fills in the missing factor or the missing product.

Depending on where your kid is, this might be super fun…or really stressful.

Encourage your child to do their very best with the facts that she knows, then pull out a times table chart to finish up with the rest!

Show the child how to use the chart, and then have them scan down the 6 column or row to find the correct answer.

The chart is also a great way to have an answer sheet available for your child to check for incorrect responses.

Use the links below to get my free printable multiplication charts:

12 x 12 Multiplication Chart

30 x 30 Multiplication Chart

6 Times Table Printable - 5

This last sheet should hopefully not take a lot of time to complete.

Young students just need to color the balls that have products that appear in the 6 multiplication times table.

Encourage the child to do a little mental math and say the 6 facts out loud from 6 x 1 and up.

For best results, have them check their work with a times table multiplication chart.

Did they miss any?

More Tips for Learning The 6 Times Table!

6 times table worksheets on a swirly bright background

I definitely wouldn’t say that this is one of the easiest multiplication tables.

In fact, it may be the first one that really gives your child some trouble.

If so, I wanted to include a few tips to help you work your way successfully through!

1. Six is a Sweetheart : Think of the number 6 as your buddy. It loves hanging out with an even number. When you multiply any number by 6, you get an even number, like 6 x 4 = 24. Easy peasy!

2. Game On : Turn learning into a game. Grab a set of flash cards or play multiplication bingo with friends and family. A little friendly competition can make math way more exciting. Check out my favorite math games .

3. Munch on Your Sixes : Grab some small snacks (or tear them into small pieces) and group them into equal groups of 6. Count them while you munch, and before you know it, you’ll remember 6 x 2, 6 x 3, and all the rest.

4. Teach a Stuffed Animal : Grab your favorite stuffed animal and teach it the 6 times table. Explaining it to someone (or something!) else is a great way to reinforce what you’ve learned.

5. Have a Fact of the Day : Identify a fact of the day and periodically ask your child the fact. By the end of the day, they will be able to answer with confidence!

6. Celebrate Each Victory : Every time you conquer a new multiplication fact, celebrate! Maybe with a little dance or a high-five. These may feel like small or silly things, but they will mean a lot to you kid!

7. Try a Fun Rhyme :

“ Six times one is easy as pie, It’s just six , no need to ask why!” “With a skip and a hop, we’re on our way, Six times two is twelve , hooray!” “ Three little ducks fight for a bean. Six times three is eighteen !” “At four and six , we stop for sticks, Six times four is twenty-four , it clicks!” “High- five the bees in the buzzing hive, Six times five is thirty , let’s thrive!” “ Six little cupcakes, all in a mix, Six times six is thirty-six , what a fix!” “ Seven stars shine oh so bright, Six times seven is forty-two , out of sight!” “ Eight and six , in a playful mix, Six times eight is forty-eight, so nifty!” “For nine and six , we’ve got a trick, Six times nine is fifty-four , quick!” “A perfect ten , now you’re in the know, Six times ten is sixty , off you go!”

To take it a step even further, have your child draw each of these rhymes to help them review and remember them!

8. Consider Multiplication Supplements : If all else fails, look into picking up some materials to help you dig even deeper into multiplication. My own kids have all done well with Times Tales and Multiplication Facts that Stick . I highly recommend it to any kid (and parent) that is struggling through math facts.

Multiplying by 6 activities consist of multiple exercises of different forms.

Here, you are expected to solve a multiplication sentences, obtaining the product; in some cases, its missing factor and at times, you'll be expected to choose the correct answer from a series of distractors.

Do you wish to become an expert in the 6 times tables, you've got to download free 6 times table worksheets .

Here, its so easy to get the correct product. You need just a mastery of the x5 times table .

Example 1 - Easily obtain the product in multiplying by 6 activities

Multiply 6 x 7 = ________

Huh! Av got my x5 times table at my fingertips.

Since 5 x 7 = 35 , I'll therefore add " 7 " to " 35 ". → 35 + 7 = 42 .

So 6 x 7 = 42

Super super superrrrrr

Example 2 - Easily obtain the missing factor in multiplying by 6 activities

Different Tips for the 6 Times Table

Table of 6 from 1 to 20:, practice questions:, 6 times table – explanation & examples.

6 Times Table

  • $1\times 6 =6 = 6 \times 1$
  • $2\times 6 = 12 = 6 \times 2$
  • $3\times 6 =18 = 6 \times 3$
  • $4 \times 6 =24 = 6 \times 4$
  • $5\times 6 = 30 = 6 \times 5$

6 times table is the table which contains multiples of the number 6.

Learning and understanding the 6 times table is essential for solving multiplication, division, and factorization problems. Like the previous tables, this one also follows some patterns that make it easier to understand. This topic will provide interesting tips and skills to help students master it faster.

You should refresh the following concepts to understand the material discussed here.

  • Basics of addition and multiplication
  • 1 times table
  • 2 times table
  • 3 times table
  • 4 times table
  • 5 times table

6 Multiplication Table

We can write the table of 6 as follows:

  • $6\times1 = 6$
  • $6 \times 2 = 12$
  • $6 \times 3 = 18$
  • $6 \times 4 =24$
  • $6 \times 5 =30$
  • $6 \times 6 =36$
  • $6 \times 7 = 42$
  • $6 \times 8 = 48$
  • $6 \times 9 = 54$
  • $6 \times 10 = 60$

Let us look at some simple tips which can help us memorize the 6 times table.

Using the 5 Times table: One of the easiest ways for students to learn the 6 times table is by using the 5 times table. This method will help revise the 5 times table and learn the 6 times table simultaneously.

 $5\times {\color{#cccc00}1} = {\color{green}5}$

${\color{green}5} + {\color{#cccc00}1}$

${\color{red}6}$

$ 6 \times 1 = 6$

$5\times {\color{#cccc00}2} = {\color{green}10}$

${\color{green}10} + {\color{#cccc00}2}$

${\color{red}12}$

$6 \times 2 = 12$

$5\times {\color{#cccc00}3} = {\color{green}15}$

${\color{green}15} + {\color{#cccc00}3}$

${\color{red}18}$

$6 \times 3 = 18$

$5\times {\color{#cccc00}4} = {\color{green}20}$

${\color{green}20} + {\color{#cccc00}4}$

${\color{red}24}$

$6 \times 4 =24$

$5\times {\color{#cccc00}5} = {\color{green}25}$

${\color{green}25} + {\color{#cccc00}5}$

${\color{red}30}$

$6 \times 5 =30$

$5\times {\color{#cccc00}6} = {\color{green}30}$

${\color{green}30} + {\color{#cccc00}6}$

${\color{red}36}$

$6 \times 6 =36$

$5\times {\color{#cccc00}7} = {\color{green}35}$

${\color{green}35} + {\color{#cccc00}7}$

${\color{red}42}$

$6 \times 7 = 42$

$5\times {\color{#cccc00}8} = {\color{green}40}$

${\color{green}40} + {\color{#cccc00}8}$

${\color{red}48}$

$6 \times 8 = 48$

$5\times {\color{#cccc00}9} = {\color{green}45}$

${\color{green}45} + {\color{#cccc00}9}$

${\color{red}54}$

$6 \times 9 = 54$

$5\times {\color{#cccc00}10} = {\color{green}50}$

${\color{green}50} + {\color{#cccc00}10}$

${\color{red}60}$

$6 \times 10 = 60$

In this method, if we add natural numbers in ascending order to the multiples of the number 5, as shown in the table above, the addition will correspond to the 6 times table. Note that the first multiple of the number 5 is added with the first natural number, which is 1. Similarly, the second multiple of the number 5 is added with the second natural number, 2, and so on.

  • Digits pattern 1: The 6 times table follows a specific pattern of 6, 2, 8, 4, and 0. These are the last digits of the first five multiples of the number 6. This pattern continues: the last digits of the next five multiples of 6 are also 6,2,8,4, and 0.

6 times table pattern

The table above shows the pattern in green digits, and by memorizing this pattern, students can easily learn and memorize the 6 times table.

  • Digits pattern 2: When the number 6 is multiplied by an even number, the last digit of the resulting outcome will be the same as the even number being multiplied. For example, when we multiply $6$ by $2$, we get $6\times 2 = 12$, so the last digit of the number $12$ is again $2$. Similarly, $6\times 8 = 48$; again,  the last digit of $48$ is $8$, which is the even number we multiplied by $6$.  The green digits in the picture below depict this pattern for the first four even numbers.

Digits Pattern 6 Times Table

  • Using the 3 times table: This method is quite simple and easy to understand. This method will also help students in the revision of the 3 times table. In this method, if all the outcomes of the 3 times table are doubled, i.e., multiplied by $2$, then we get the 6 times table, as shown below.

$3\times 1 = {\color{green}3}$

${\color{green}3} + {\color{green}3}$

${\color{red}6}$

$3\times 2 = {\color{green}6}$

${\color{green}6} + {\color{green}6}$

${\color{red}12}$

$3\times 3 = {\color{green}9}$

${\color{green}9} + {\color{green}9}$

${\color{red}18}$

$3\times 4 = {\color{green}12}$

${\color{green}12} + {\color{green}12}$

${\color{red}24}$

$3\times 5 = {\color{green}15}$

${\color{green}15} + {\color{green}15}$

${\color{red}30}$

$3\times 6 = {\color{green}18}$

${\color{green}18} + {\color{green}18}$

${\color{red}36}$

$3\times 7 = {\color{green}21}$

${\color{green}21} + {\color{green}21}$

${\color{red}42}$

$3\times 8 = {\color{green}24}$

${\color{green}24} + {\color{green}24}$

${\color{red}48}$

$3\times 9 = {\color{green}27}$

${\color{green}27} + {\color{green}27}$

${\color{red}54}$

$3\times 10 = {\color{green}30}$

${\color{green}30} + {\color{green}30}$

${\color{red}60}$

  • Addition: Students who have difficulty understanding previous tips and tricks can use the addition method to learn the 6 times tables. It is an effective method, but it is lengthy and calculations may take time. This method is particularly effective if students want to learn the first 10 multiples of 6. As the name suggests, this method involves addition. For example, we start with digit 0, and if we add the number 6 to it, we get 6 as the answer. We can work out the next multiple of 6 by adding 6 to the current answer and so on.

6 addition pic

  • Recitation: Students who have difficulty grasping previous tips and tricks and find it hard to do the addition or multiplication can use this method. Students can recite the 6 times loudly and repeatedly. Once they have memorized it, it will be easier for them to develop their basic understanding. Recitation can be done like:6 times 1 is 6 6 times 2 is 12 6 times 3 is 18 6 Times 4 is 24 6 times 5 is 30 6 times 6 is 36 6 times 7 is 42 6 times 8 is 48 6 times 9 is 54 6 times 10 is 60

We can write a complete table of 6 from 1 to 20 as:

$6 \times 1$

Six times one

Example 1 : Using the 6 times table, calculate 2 times 6 times 1 minus 4

2 times 6 times 1 minus 4 can be written as:

$ 2 \times6 \times 1 – 4$

$ = 12 \times 1 – 4$

$ = 12 – 4$

Example 2 : What is the 9 th multiple of 6?

We know the first 10 multiples of 6 are 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, and 60.

So the 9 th multiple is 54.

1). A teacher wants to distribute pens equally among the students of her class. How many pens should she give to each student if the class consists of 6 students and

  • the total number of pens equals 18?
  • the total number of pens is equal to 36?

2). Calculate 6 times 6 minus 30.

3). Find the value of “Y” if “Y x 6 = 36”.

4). From the given table, select the numbers which are multiples of 6.

1). The teacher wants to distribute the pens equally. So each student should have the same number of pens. As the class has 6 students, so we can use 6 times table to solve this problem

  • When the total number of pens is 18, we know by 6 times table that $6\times 3 =18$, so each student would get 3 pens.
  • When the total number of pens is 36, we know by 6 times table that $6\times 6 =36$, so each student would get 6 pens.

2). 6 times 6 minus 30 can be written as:

$ 6\times 6 – 30$

$ = 36 – 30$

3). $ Y \times 6 = 36 $

We know $6\times 6 =36$

Daniel Bodily takes a hands-off approach.

A Paul Cézanne painting sits on a stage at Sotheby’s as the auctioneer takes bids.

By Sam Corbin

Jump to: Today’s Theme | Tricky Clues

TUESDAY PUZZLE — I was excited to see Daniel Bodily’s byline at the top of today’s crossword for two reasons. The first is that, as a relatively recent addition to the Games desk, I still get a thrill whenever I recognize constructors’ names from past puzzles — a novel way of marking time, somewhat similar to notching a wall to track growth spurts. The second reason is that I had a lot of fun solving one of Mr. Bodily’s previous puzzles for The New York Times, a Thursday thinker from Oct. 5, 2023, in which common phrases had their halves reversed to create new ones — “craps tables” became “table scraps,” and so on.

It won’t be that hard to spot Mr. Bodily’s trick this go-round. But solving the puzzle is a real throwback — as in, you might just throw out your back laughing, once you figure out the theme.

Today’s Theme

My, my, my. How did it feel when you applied a certain famous “MC Hammer lyric” — the words of which are split across the bottom row of the grid at 66-, 67- and 68A — to all of the starred clues?

The sheer catchiness of (U) CAN’T TOUCH THIS, the 1990 hip-hop hit, is part of what makes this revealer so satisfying. I recommend listening to the song while reviewing the puzzle’s list of things you CAN’T TOUCH (or can, but really shouldn’t): a CAMERA LENS (17A), WET PAINT (31A), an ELECTRIC FENCE (38A), a LIMBO BAR (44A) and anything at a CRIME SCENE (60A).
